Wonderful guy, very pleasant. Extremely helpful once you show your serious. One of my favorite.
DO NOT TAKE HIM..........HE THRIVES ON MAKING YOU'RE LIFE MISERABLE IN HIS COURSE....
challenging, makes you understand the full concept of everything, there is no memorizing in this class. If you put time and effort into this course you will do fine !!!
he was extremely hard but an awesome person we "put his faith back into hygiene students"!!!Awesome personality.!!! if you show him you are trying you are going to pass... he's an awesome man you just can't listen to the horos about him!!!!!! get on his good side!!!!
he loves to see people fail is not fair at all do not take this class or you will be sorry
He's a tough teacher, but a very good one!! If you put the time and effort into this class, you should do well. He is very willing to give extra help.
These are very difficult classes!! If you take it seriously and do the work, you'll be fine. Dr. Warr is my favorite teacher. He's great at his job and really cares whether you understand or not.
SUCKS ..............BORING CLASS DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS STAY AWAY......
This was the absolute worst professor I have ever taken. His tests do not coincide with his lectures. worst class ever. i don't recommend him to anyone.
He is very difficult not fair at all. I would not take him again. Very boring no sense of humor at all.
DO ASK QUESTIONS BUT FOR A REPLY EXPECT NO CLARITY, TESTS ARE HARD, VERY TOUGH..NICE GUY TRUELY BUT THE CLASS TAUGHT BY DR.WARR? WARR IS HIS LAST NAME!
horrable teacher, lectures and study sheets do not go with his tests, he doesent teach at all he reads off of a power point all class, he doesent care if you fail just as long as you learn something, i would never take him again he was the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. stay very far away!
oh my god..if you get him, drop..put it this way, i've got nothing but a's in my science courses until i met him, it's rediculously hard. the other day in lab he even admitted that he doesn't have a and b students
Stay away! People taking the class are taking it bc its a pre rec. We are not going to school to be Chemists and Dr's like him. Talk's to you like you are stupid! Doesn't cut you a break. His ego thrives on us poor students who get bad grades. There is a problem when its rare for students to get an A! Worst class and teacher that I have EVER had!
Teaches like you are in med school. Offers help if you stay after but makes you feel like an idiot while there. He's the reason I will never get into my degree program can not pass his class!
He is a great person. His class is a very hard class, but you will learn from him. He is also funny and understanding. I enjoyed his class.
Ya these are hard classes and you do need to expect the work, but when you're doing the work and you aren't getting anywhere there is a problem and I don't think it's the students. He's horrible and I would NEVER take him again!
The reviews on her are true. He's a bad professor. He got bad reviews for a reason.
ha you were right! I should check this out. We're in the class. Other people know he's bad too!
wow i can not believe some of you, of courses the class is going to be difficult, it's chemistry!! He was a good teacher who wants you to learn. Those who say he's a terrible teacher are the ones whining about their bad grades because they DIDN'T STUDY! I enjoyed his class and will be taking CHM 16 with him as well.
Bad teacher.
bad teacher!!! beware
he's a good teacher, knows his stuff, and he loves what he does. it's a hard class obviously, chemistry isn't going to be easy no matter who you take it with. if you think he's a bad teacher, it's because you didn't put in enough effort. you need to study!!
good teacher, take his night class. i cant believe these other comments about him being bad. the only way that he would be a bad teacher would be if you fell asleep in class an never paid attention an didnt do the assignments. if you pay attention an do the homework he is a great teacher, better than every1 else ive had.
eh dont like the teaching style at all. I feel you can learn better with a better teacher. that simple
I also had him for chem15 so I knew what to expect. I found chem16 to be a little easier for me since there isn't any math. He's pretty straight forward, gives a lot of study sheets which are helpful, and I thought his grading was fair. He's a nice guy and will help you out if you're falling behind. One of my favorite teachers.
Dr. David Warr was an excellent instructor. The class was challenging but taught very well. I would recommend taking him
GREAT chemistry teacher. For the complainers, its Chemistry, it is NOT an easy A so if you think thats what youre gonna get then don't even bother taking him. He is an extremely nice guy who is fair and genuinely enjoys the subject matter and his students, if you pay attention and STUDY you will do fine.
ill just say this, i took his class while i was still in high school and i didnt study or do homework and i still got a B+. just pay attention to what he is teaching you and read over the lab before you go to lab and youll do fine. great professor.
He does not answer any of your questions. Hes extremely rude! and for quizzes, lab reports, and tests..you can have the right answer but if you dont do the work in his way or forget to put a unit you get the question completely wrong. which is BS! Oh he even says dont worry about the numbers for lab as long as you do it right but thats bs too. horr
Dr. Warr has a great personality and he is very helpful. He teaches everything that is on his tests and is very fair in his grading. I'm surprised to see a lot of negative comments here. My entire lab table loved him. Instructors can only give you the tools to be successful, you've got to put in your part!!
I honestly hated this class while I was taking it. It forced me to study and quite frankly, I was not used to studying this much for any course. But, if you ever plan to take "real organic chem" at a four-year in the future, TAKE THIS CLASS! It will give you an advantage and allow you to focus on the truly difficult concepts of Organic Chem.
This class is hard . I basically. Taught myself everything i kno and basically he is the hardest grader I Eva met... Usually he grades papers at last minute and he never checks his emails , and the lab forget it my whole class was laost
Dr. Warr was a very thorough professor. Clearly explained whatever we were learning. He was a bit impatient with the slower learners in the class. He is not easy but is worth the work. You learn a lot that will carry over into other classes.
I had Dr. Warr as my 1st chem teacher years ago. I argued with him all the time because I didn't think chemistry was a legit science. With his help, I realized how amazing chemistry truly is. Once I started understanding it, everything fit like a puzzle. Long story short, thanks to Dr. Warr, I am now a Research Chemist. Thank You!! You're amazing!
Chemistry is tough no matter how you slice it. Dr. Warr was available to help us any time we needed it. if you're interested in what he has to say, then he's interested in teaching you. He as a great personality and he is extremely educated in the material he is teaching. He is an asset to BCC:)
Dr. Warr inspired me years ago. Im finishing my Masters degree this year. His courses are tough, but we need the best and he is a huge asset to the community! Truly a gentleman.
Very nice teacher. He is never In a hurry. Will help you all the time especially If he sees that you really need help. I am not a native speaker And any class is a challenge for me but if you take notes in his class and pay a really good attention to what he is saying, you will ace it like me. I wish I could take every science class with him.
Very Hard professor. I ended dropping his class & MANY others also did as well. The tests are timed & he doesn't give nearly enough time to do them. He isn't clear on what the tests are going to be on,for example on calculations or definitions. If even one part is wrong everything is wrong! I also heard him tell a student her question was stupid!
If you actually want to LEARN chemistry this would be the class to take. There are no easy A's in this class. His lectures are very informative and he repeats things multiple times but if you ask a question he tries to make you figure it out and asks you questions to the point of confusing you more.
I hadn't taken a science class for 10+ years, but I remembered hating them in high school. Dr. Warr made class fun and interesting. He gives great lectures and works very hard to make sure the class understands the material before moving on. He doesn't just speak at students but asks questions so everyone is really involved. Highly recommend!
Most misunderstood,,but Absolute Best!!! Instructor in the college!!Clear, Concise, Informative and influential. If you thought you hated or misunderstood chem. His lectures are perfect and given willingness and diligence will lead to a comprehension that was never thought possible. Take 115 too! Absolutely All Time Favorite Best thing at B.C.C.
Took Chm 115/116 w/Dr. Warr he's nice and CLEAR. He gives study sheets and tells u exactly what to study, so study. Quizzes can be short,if u get 3 ans wrong, u could get a 60. Gives 6 quizes, 1 final, 1 hw a wk on mast chem. 3 lab rpts, 2 lab Practicals. Lab is easy and as long as u do all h/w it raises your grade 10%. Show interest and be polite.
Best teacher I have ever had. I wish he could teach all of my classes. Will help you until you understand, has a sense of humor, and actually teaches, he will not just read a presentation like all other teachers. Got a D in high school, got an A in his class. He also gives minimal homework that helps a lot.
Awesome teacher!!!! He is super smart and knows his stuff! If your looking for an easy A this is not the teacher. He works with he students and will help you if your struggling
I loved Dr. Warr, he is the best professor I have ever had. He is very intelligent and makes you want to learn and do your best. Always there to help and hands out practice sheets which are very helpful.
I liked professor Warr he was clear and concise. He was also helpful and friendly. He tried to make class fun. I would take him again if the opportunity presented itself. Also his workload is light. He also hands out a lot of study sheets to help his students.
Dr. Warr knows his stuff! Yes you have to work hard to earn a good grade, we are in college :) I believe he is fair in grading and is willing to help out whenever needed. Attendance and participation he does appreciate! Just put in the effort, try hard and you will get a passing grade !
The professor does offer to clarify and meet with you after or before classes. Book work is done on your own it helps if you are disciplined enough to do it. It is not checked. Lectures can be confusing. Quantative work can be confusing. Ask questions and get help early on.
Old fashion professor but know he information and is will to see other ways of learning it. Enjoys teaching, is difficult with the way you express your answers. He is somewhat fair. Overall I recall most of the information I learned from him. If you want to recall chem he is great!
You will learn a lot. Expect to put in 20+ hrs a week for one class. He is not very generous on partial credit and an overall tough grader. Class times often went over scheduled times. The expectation was extremely high and he often taught more than what could be found in the text. Hardest teacher I have ever had. Easy to understand and very nice.
Dr. Warr is a good professor. He gives worksheets that don't go towards your grade, but they're pretty helpful to study with. It's not an easy A, but he's very nice and humble and willing to help anyway he can. I would recommend him.
Dr. Warr was an awesome professor for Chemistry. He is extremely passionate about the subject! He expects you to put in an effort, if you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class, but I guarantee you will learn a bunch of information. Pay attention to his lectures, and on board notes, study what he tells you too and you will do fine!
Personally not enjoying 115 at all. I had a great experience with chemistry up until entering Warr's course. I feel when I ask for help he thinks I'm & gives vague responses. No extra credit. 4/5 quizzes for the semester at 40% of your final grade. Warr takes off points wherever possible. I purchased nearly $300 text that I've never used in class.
Yes he knows his stuff but if you don't understand something, he gets so frustrated and it makes people feel as though you cant go to him for extra help. I really wish I never took his class.
Luckily I have a background in Chemistry or I would be struggling even more than I already am. Gets frustrated if you ask questions and always has a sarcastic remark. When trying to answer a question he asks in class, you get a sarcastic remark if incorrect. Never experienced a teacher like this in my life... Avoid this class if you can.
Regret signing up for this course 100%. Impatient professor with very low tolerance for students with questions. Does not respond to student emails or cries for extra help or maybe it was just me. Wasn't assigned a lab partner for the entire time I was in his course until I dropped it. Would never take any course with him even if I was paid.
Literally uses every second of class time.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you don't understand chemistry that well. He isn't really clear on what he is looking for. The test is given to you with a blank sheet of paper as your answer sheet. I thought it was a tough class.
Definitely not an Easy A, but he's willing to work with you if you talk to him. Overall he's a great person, just do you work, study hard, pay attention to the things he says in lecture because most likely it will be on a quiz or exam. He gives lots of study guides and as long as you do them, you'll be fine.
Do NOT take a class with him. I've done well in all classes at BCC but his class is the first class i'be had a problem with. He has zero patience to teach chemistry. He is rude and talks down upon his students. Every quiz he rushes you and is never clear what is going to be on each exam. You pretty much have to teach yourself in this class.
Tests are short & he is clear about what is on them. He gives study sheets which are exactly like the quizzes & exams so if those are done and you study you will do fine. He is clear that exams are scheduled to be 1 hour & usually goes over that limit. He offers plenty of help on things outside class. Just show up and study, you'll be fine.
A great teacher! This is a tough class, however most people who are in this class are trying to get into a medical program. If you are unable to pass this class, you might want to reconsider your options because it will only get harder! He was very clear about his expectations.
I respect Dr. Warr because he is extremely educated in his field of work. I had a very tough time with this class, mainly because math does not come natural to me. You will take about 4 lecture quizzes, a few lab quizzes, two hour exams, and lab reports. This class is a challenge!
I have my bachelors degree, and graduate certificate. In my entire educational career this was the most difficult class I have ever participated in. Chemistry 090 is a high school chemistry class, no credits. Having to memorize the 48 elements of the periodic table, as well as being tested on the spelling of the words is absolutely not necessary.
Dr. Warr is one of the best professor's i have ever had. You learn sooooo much with his lectures and labs. He explains every detail. i recommend to show up to EVERY class. the way he teaches you want to show up for every class. Great personality and a WONDERFUL teacher. i wish he taught more subjects besides Chemistry.
Im currently in the class, half way through the semester. I have to go to a tutor because this professor is so hard to learn from. He expects you to already know everything hes teaching. Dont bother asking questions because youll get mocked. On the bright side, he gives study sheets to help you learn so thats a plus.
Professor Warr is difficult and makes you really work for it. He can be rude when you ask him questions about anything but he means well. He's very intelligent so if you really pay attention and study the material, you'll be fine.
Professor Warr is a very tough teacher. At least 15 people have dropped from the class I am in and he doesn't think anything is wrong with it. He made a comment saying "i can tell you who to take next semester and i am sure you will pass." I think about 85% of my class is failing and he thinks it is a joke. I would not recommend taking him.
Dr. Warr's class is hard and demanding. However, if you do the work it is so work it. Dr. Warr makes himself available at almost any time if you need help, he really cares and he takes the time to thoroughly explain the material. Gives a lot of practice study guides to help you understand the material.
GUYS, I started going for extra help RIGHT AWAY and ended the class with a solid A. I passed every assignment. He knows most people are trying to get into competitive programs, so he does not make it easy. BUT, he is very clear with what he expects on tests (NO SURPRISES). Go for extra help and form a relationship- that is what I did and it worked!
At first, I was dreading taking chemistry because I hated it in high school. Dr. Warr turned it into my favorite subject. He is very straight-forward, and his quizzes/tests are exactly what is on the study sheets. His lectures are heavy, and he definitely makes you work for it. The class is a lot of work but easy if you keep up with it.
Dr. Warr was an extremely caring professor, yes his class was very hard, but most people in this class are trying to do big things! I think that people who say they dont know what to study for (on a test) dont understand that a little bit of everything may be needed, and he DOES put emphasis on the most important parts, you just have to be listenin
This Professor is very difficult he expects high standards if we are in MED SCHOOL. He is very bright however this is a community college not Harvard.... He never answered emails... and his test are not what he says... very odd professor and gets discouraged if you don't understand CHEMISTRY. WE ARE HUMANS AND LEARN DIFFERENTLY...
If you don't know any USA equivalencies before going into this class, good luck (feet to miles, pints to gallons, etc.). He said he would require the textbook to later tell us we only needed the online access code. Most of our lab time was filled with him repeating himself. Don't take him if his class isn't your only focus.
NOT an easy class. Pay attention, take notes and ask for help if you need it. He is extremely smart and I think sometimes he forgets students don't know nearly as much as he. He is ALWAYS willing to help outside of the classroom so if you really want to learn something, he's your guy. If you are just looking for easy, pick someone else.
Very rude and condescending if you dont understand something! He does offer extra help, but his attitude makes you not want to go. He never gave us a midterm grade, so you just have to guess how youre doing in the class. He constantly is leaving class, and then doesnt let you out of class on time. Choose any other professor.
Very difficult to feel comfortable asking questions. Condescending towards students, and very picky when grading (right answer isn't always right if you didn't do it the way he wanted). I would not recommend.
Took Prof. Warr for Chem 090 as a refresher course and online due to the pandemic. He's very clear in his assignments and what he expects but doesn't post them according to the syllabus and forget about emailing students back it took me close to 2 weeks before I received an email in return over an assignment that already passed.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ONLINE CLASSES, he takes forever to grade items all he does is send you to watch YouTube videos. He doesnt respond to emails, he doesnt use the tools to help his students for online. He even told us that he doesnt look at his emails as much as he should. The quizzes are a joke. Dont take him ever!!!
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! Extremely rude and talks down to the class especially when students are confused! Also talks down to students for going to a community college, WHEN HE WORKS AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE!Im shocked he has this high of a rating on here and that he still has a job at bcc because hes the worst professor Ive ever had!!!
Very few quizzes and HW assignments (on Pearson). The website for lab never got set up so no lab grades. VERY easy to fail due to lack of grading material. Doesn't post grades. I had no idea how awful I was doing. I would have appreciated a heads up. He took wks to answer my emails. Dont take him synchronized. Im sure hes better in person. :(
He does not help you if you need it, at the beginning of the year he said I was going to fail. He does not teach us how to do any equations, rather he throws them at us and says do them. The tests are near impossible, the amount of homework is absurd, and he is rude. 100/10 definitely do not recommend
He was very condescending and rude. He once told me, when I asked why I got a 24/25 grade "I don't give out 25's". He takes weeks, sometimes a month to grade assignments. Pro: he is willing to stay late to help with coursework, which I took advantage of weekly, but he does talk down to you quite a bit if you're not understanding it well.
Go for a different professor if possible
Awful. Don't do it, it's not worth it.
