He is really weird and slightly crazy but it is easy to get an A
his class might as well been online. all quizzes are online and based on each chapter which are easy if you read, you can get by by skimming. the tests are in class and its basically a big memorization tests on terms. really.
Seems weird at first, But he is a good teacher and will give u a grade A, if u do all the work....the tests are easy.
weird at first but cool once he opens up.. I highly recommend him... <3
He is a good teacher, but u have to be willing to put the effort in....I would say he is straight forward, but not necessarily easy....The quizes can be tricky if u dont know the material....Never the less I Got the A i needed
This teacher knows everything about history, he gives webct quizzes which is 30 percent, participation is 10 percent, and the exam consists of 2 parts(essay n in class exam) in class exam is just a bunch of terms u memorize, ez teacher.............
Described as liberal elsewhere, he is anything but. If you want flag waving, go to Conservative U. If you want to learn something about the past, take his class, any of his classes. Not exactly easy, he is "straight-forward" - go to class, listen, take notes, do the reading and you will get an A in ANY professor's class.
Read the book, show up to class on time, collect your grade. It's that simple. When he lays it all out on Day 1, believe him - he's not joking. If folks fail this class, it's because they don't try or are organically challenge.
he was awful. expected to much and was very harsh on grading essays yes two 400 word essays for every test and he doesnt even type up assignments with correct format. do not take him. anyone is better.
After reading what everyone else had to say about him...i was shocked and had to take a second to gather my thoughts...he is one of the WORST teachers i have ever had!Comming out of highschool and starting right into college was a totally different change so maybe that was it but other college kids said he SUCKED to, that had been in college longer
ok so heres a little tip for anyone who takes this class... 1.)dont even bother showing up the only importance that you are to him, is a paycheck! 2.)He is very liberal and doesnt not care to hear about wwhat you THINK..its his way or the highway! 3.)BUY the book...it helps with the quizes and the vocab terms...... 4.) EXAMS ARE IMPOSSIBLE!!!
Submit two short essays(500 words each)one long essay(1000 words)in each test.
worst teacher i have ever taken!!! he gives you a test to take and gives you about a day to finish it! it is impossible, the test is one essay that is to be 1000 words and then two short essays that are supposed to be 500 words EACH!! he is ridiculous and rude!! DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER!!!
He is EXTREMELY hard!! BUt it was a wintermester class and everything went by fast fast FAST! Exams are 3 essays, 1 long two short, and are graded very harshly, more of an english paper than history!! If your going to take him, get ready to work ur ass off!! i chose him cause he was the easier of the two teacher available!!
If your essay in turnitin.com have >10% similarity, then you won't get your score.
His testing style is difficult and he is VERY hard on the grading of the tests. I thought I worked hard and would get a good grade on the tests and I got mostly Cs. The quizes on each chapter took some thinking but make you understand the chapters better.
I highly recommend taking this class. Class is basically all lecture. Quizzes each week through WebCT. Tests are essays on terms. Provide a "who, what, where, when, how" on each. First test, I scored 99. Emails promptly if you've asked questions and is willing to discuss areas that aren't clear. Loved this class, even though not my strong suit.
This class is SO boring, he talks the ENTIRE class. He sorta forces you to attend by having "lottery" questions he asks random ppl on random days. His tests are hard (essay due day of test and the test is free responce). Also, required quizzes on WEBct aren't directly out of the book (part lecture). I hated this class with a passion.
awesome teacher..pay attention and do your work and there is no reason why you shouldnt make a B. Teaches extremely well, and will help you if you need it..
He's considered a hard teacher when you compare him to your blow off classes in High School, but he tells you exactly what's on the tests and if you put the time and effort in studying, there is no reason you can't make a B. Although, it is a lot memorizing of dates and vocab.
Don't take him!!!!!!!!
ok. you guys... he's the College/Univ. style professor. Doesn't care if u show up or not, but if he calls you for a Question and you're not there, well...you lose points. his style is for real students, not slack offs. pwr pnt and book. test are ridiculously easy. u just have to know how to study. I recommend taking him to experience serious class
ok. for those who say he's hard and his tests are hard. well...he has his own style. you people are just so damn retarded and used to high school or conventional testing. he TELLS you what he's going to ask. just study the main terms about those vocabs and you'll be just fine. in other words, USE YOUR BRAIN! amazing professor.
The guy is really too good for the oxygen thieves @ Quad C. It was fun to watch a full class evaporate. Basically, show up and listen. He's a very good lecturer, makes the dull interesting. Do the quizzes. And study hard. Rinse. Repeat.
For a class that does not require attendance, I rarely missed because of his entertaining lectures. You take a quiz over each chapter at home, and have 3 tests. The class could not be any easier to get an A in.
I learned more from this class than any other I've taken. It's not a blow-off class but it's not hard. I don't know why he's at a community college. He's way too good. He needs to be at a University.
hes a great teacher! i hate histpry and it seriously bores me to death but he actually keeps me fairly entertained. im definately taking him again for 1302. I learned alot from his class and he has a good sense of humor
It's not a easy class, though not hard either. Everything in tests came straight out of his outlines. Must read.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He will do anything to help you, if you are sincere. Not a blow off class which people at community college expect. Great knowledge of the subject -he loves history. Highly recommend him as he makes you want to take more history classes.
This is a great professor. I would recommend him as he will prepare you for to go to 4 year colleges and help you to get the important basics of history. Very creative in his teaching style.
He is a good teacher.
Only 3 test . Multiple choice..Love this class
Great Teacher, took class in Mayterm so things were highspeed. 3 test all multiple choice. Gave you study questions for each test.
He is an extremely smart guy who got his Ph.D from Caambridge.Fast pace long lectures but gives you the study questions for the test. Exactly the same questions from the guides are on the test.3 test.Multiple choice.Read your book, do the questions and get an A. I got an 89.4 and he will not bump you up.The best teacher to take!
I really liked both him and his class. It's all lecture and there are only 3 tests divided into several sections. At the end of the semester, he drops several of your lowest grade, so even if you mess up on one test you can always redeem yourself later.
Professor Weilan is a good guy. He lectures the entire class, I never took notes just listened to him talk... got a easy A
Really nice professor. he is really willing to help you. he totally should be teaching in a real university! test is not hard if you do the hw.
the best teacher at collin...really easy to understand and is willing to help if you need it. the tests are really easy if you study them. kinda boring but an easy A
pretty good teacher overall. Tests are from the study guide, mulitple choice, but you really have to know the material to get an A. I studied like crazy and got a B. You don't have to take notes, he puts his lectures up on blackboard. No extra credit and he takes attendance ever class period
Very straightforward. Come to class, listen to his lecture and you will do well on the test. He covers EVERYTHING in the lecture. The tests were very easy, as he gave us study questions (some of the questions were taken straight from the test.) If you fail this class, it is your own fault.
Awesome professor! All he requires is that you show up to class. He provides study guide questions, which are from the test, and all his lecture notes on blackboard. There are only 3 tests and even though I didn't do the study guides I made a C. I highly recommend taking him.
He was very helpful. I wish he would have interacted with the students more. He was very nice and had good discussions.
I didnt like history before this class but this guy is amazing! The study guides are pretty much the test, but questions are a little revised on the actual test. Everyone can pretty much make a A if you put in the time to study. You can bomb all the sections & redeem yourself on the final to make an A in the class! He is TOO smart and good for CCCC!
Had this teacher last term-great mind and funny. If you meet with him one on one, he can be AMAZING in what he knows and what he will do to help you. Wish he was a little easier for some of my weasel friends that want to do nothing but get an "A" anyway. Love his beard!Without it he looks WAY YOUNGER, so don't that put you off.
Great professor! I think his style is pretty cool for history. He tells you things right like they happened and makes the class interested. If your read the book once youll do great, and if you do the reviews even better! He might sound like its going to be hard at the beginning but he teaches so well that it turns out to be easy!
I took Dr. Weiland for a 7:00am class. He is a great lecturer. He can hit the ground running when he starts up his power point slides. Its hard to fall asleep in his class. I feel his talents are wasted at a college like Collin, he deserves much better. Very Educated, but not pretentious. Not an easy grade by any means, but HIGHLY recommended.
He is an amazing lecturer
Took the 8 oclock class and would almost always want to sleep. He lectures way too much and you have to read the book and do the review otherwise you are setting yourself up for a bad grade.
DO NOT MISS THIS PROFESSOR.
Dr. Weiland is one of the best prof's I have ever had. Great lecturer and entertaining. Opening day lecture was intimidating as all get out, scared the crap out of all. After that day, all was great. READ THE BOOK. ANSWER THE REVIEW QUESTIONS. PASS THE TESTS! That is the key to passing this class.
David Weiland PhD is one of the best professors at Collin College. Cambridge educated, the man is amazing! He can teach the material with his eyes closed. Extremely interesting lectures, great tone, awesome presence. Tests are not easy, but if you READ THE BOOK you will pass them. He also teaches HIST 1302.
Prof. Weiland is awesome! Class is easy, all he does is lecture. Gets in to his teaching so class is not boring at all. Easy to make an A if you do the reviews. All the test questions come strait from the review. He is pretty funny which is good, but he can be a wise ass at times, but that's only if you're interupting his class. Overall great prof.
Web express class, so pretty fast-paced. Very responsive to technical problems early on. Do the reading, answer the study questions, you'll do fine on the exams. (you wanna sleep, not read, get an A for nothing? why u in college?)
great teacher. do the study questions, read the book and the test wont be hard. he has interesting sometimes funny 'fun facts' about events as you go along the semester. great teacher. lectures everyday and only 3 tests.
Not boring at all...I learned so much, and so many random facts as well. Truly inspired me to want to learn--which is crazy. He just knows so much. Awesome teacher, understanding, answers any questions and never talks to you like you're dumb for asking. Questions for the review are online. Answer them- pass the test- done.
Interesting
He is a Berkeley and Cambridge graduate whom you can't easily find around. I had chances to learn extra stories which we can't learn from textbooks. I was scared at first since reading once was not enough to cover the exams. If you fully cover the study guide questions and read textbook more than once, you will be fine. I strongly recommend him.
I took the express online course and got an A, but it wasn't easy. It's a lot of material to cover, 6 chapters every 2 weeks, so be prepared to STUDY. The tests are on campus and aren't hard IF you know the material. Grades aren't posted very quickly and you won't get to review what you missed on the tests, but overall a good teacher and course.
He was, hands down, the best History Professor I have had. He was passionate about his work which made listening to his lecture all the more fun. I highly reccomend him.
Dr. Weiland is so knowledgable in his subject matter and Cambridge educated, typically hard to come by at a Jr. College. He can teach you even more than what's in your class text. Do the online study guides and you'll be fine. Students who don't like him probably expect to come to college, sleep through class, and pass.
Took the same Maymester class and got an A - if so concerned about GPA, then why take a semester of material in 10 days? Want to keep your 4.0? Then study like hell or drop! And get a clue - come to class, take notes, read the book, do the study questions. It's college, not grocery shopping, and he makes a Gen Ed requirement interesting.
Exellent professor! Taking Hist 1302 with him in the Fall.
Great professor, loves the classroom - if you don't want non-stop lecture, raise your hand! Very accessible - asks for comments & questions every few minutes. Three exams, you get the questions 5 weeks in advance, from the book and he covers them in lecture as well. No surprises. Do the work and earn your grade - that's all he asks...
One of the knowledgeable and well articulated professors in the field of history. Coming from a worldly background I can safely say professor Weiland is one of the best professors I have come by. With insightful lectures and course assignments that engage the historical events in civ. Cambridge educated, Prof Weiland, truly is the gem of Collin.
I'm about to complete his express history class online. I was nervous at first because it's an express class, but have had no problems at all. He's very helful & very direct. You do have to read the book but the study questions/exam questions are answered directly from reading. He is awesome!
Professor Weiland is amazing. He uses class time to lecture but will stop for all questions. He is truly passionate and knowledgable about history. I am amazed regarding his knowledge. All questions are given in advance and taken directly from the book. I plan to take him for 1302. Do yourself a favor and take Professor Weiland's class.
Proffesor Weiland's class is very difficult. I took it during the summer and all of the tests had to be taken up at the college, which covered easily 5 chapters at one time. It was a lot to keep up with, I recommend taking during fall or spring semester. He was very rude and short in his emails to students. Passed the class with a B though.
Had him summer before last. As a current senior hist major now, I have to say he's the best hist prof I've had. He has no agenda, but can do what few can: explain it and articulate the over-arching connections and long term consequences. He has a rep for not having a heart, but that's just cheap window-dressing!
World Civ II, Must have a lot of time to devote to reading, writing, and 330* ESSAY questions per unit/test. *Note Assigns 20 questions for ea. Ch. but they actually have three Q's in one times 5 Chpts. (= approximately 330 Q) I was an A student, but this will be my first B. I would not recommend.
Early in the semester, he comes off as a hardass, but he is actually extremely forgiving in grading (I'm a huge slacker). It's amazing how much he knows about everything related to the material. From my experience of 82 credits at Collin, his lectures are unparalleled. Do yourself a favor and take this guy. You will learn.
Its my first year of college and first college history class. His class is based off the book and his lectures were intersting. I got 90's and 80's on my essays. You have to do one for each of the first two units. Thirds optional. Exams i got 78 and 79's but i didn't follow much in the book....if you read,do the study questions you will be fine.
Easily one of the most engaging lecture based professors at Collin. He is Cambridge educated, and it shows. He knows his subject very well, and will keep you interested. You must read the book assigned, or you will have a hard time with his tests. If you don't read quickly, take his classes in a Fall or Spring course.
I have been an A honor roll student until not. i had a 3.9 GPA until this course. It is VERY hard, and the review does not match up to the tests AT ALL. i do NOT recommend this course if you are wanting to maintain a good GPA.
Oh man, I took the online express course. I am an A student but with this class, NOT because of the speed but because of the level of difficulty I received a B. The class was extremely difficult. The quizzes/tests were not consistent with the learning material. I went through hell to pass. Take another teacher. He was dry/short in his emails.
Great teacher, well educated, and keeps lectures interesting. If you read the book and do the work you'll do fine in the class. Normally a B student, I've got a 4.0 that I expect to maintain in this class through the NON-CUMULATIVE exam. Usually starts class a little late, but ends on time. No mandatory attendance other than test days.
Very nice teacher, always available. Is actually interested in what he is teaching and makes it interesting too. Tests are not too hard and the essays are very easy.
My 3.5 is going to take due to lack of clarity in directions and information in this class. Other students are having same issues. Never been so lost in a course. DO NOT TAKE if you work FT and need to be online only student. Tests must be taken on campus or proctor at an additional charge. In class may be fine but HORRIBLE online.
Cambridge educated. Super clear but long lectures! Essays are super easy except watch your grammar spelling. I had awesome content but still got a B because of my grammar. Read the textbook! Overall an easy class but online assignments are a pain and they come in waves. He posts all the assignments in chunks:( He knows what he is talking about!!!!!
Wonderful professor. Has outstanding lectures. History isn't always a joy but he makes every lecture interesting and I find myself leaving class in a great mood. Not very much work. 3 tests 3 papers that have no right or wrong answer just answer the essay topic. EASY EASY EASY!
Most confusing online class I ever took
If you study for the tests you'll get at least an 80 with minimal reading. Strongly recommend due to his easy assignments and fun class discussions. History can be bring but he makes the classes interesting.
Good professor. Always open after class for questions and discussions. Also very helpful at his office hours. Essays are kinda long but he awards your work adequately.
really a great teacher, seemed to care that we understood the topic material. test and quizzes are straight out of the book. Definitely do your reading and you'l get an A. Not strict on attendance but i would go to class. only two essays they are hard but if you'v payed attention in class your golden his wiki pages guarantee youll at least pass.
Professor Weiland is an excellent professor and I have had him for 1301 and now 1302. His class generally consists of 2 to 3 essays, and 3 tests along with posting a paragraph response to three study questions which was very easy to handle and the dates were always clear and reasonable. His lectures were alway funny and clear. Very good professor.
I love his lectures! Before taking his class I despised learning about history. He is very passionate about what he is talking about and makes class interesting. The online wikis and quizzes he gives you are very helpful for the exams. This class is fairly easy just as long as you put the effort into it.
Awesome Professor! I took him in 1301 and 1302 and did not regret it for a minute. Lectures are interesting. He is very passionate about the topic as well. He is also open for qustions after the lecture. He expects three essays of which the first two are mandatory and the third is optional.
If I was not transferring after the spring term, I would take this mans 1302 class. His lectures were entertaining, helpful, and passionate. You could tell he really loved what he did. He does not take attendance because he believes by not coming you're hurting yourself. He has a sense of humor that will make you laugh. Assigns easy work
I like that Professor Weiland actually teaches history, without attempting to dumb it down. Some people dislike that, but I personally found it rather engaging. His grading criteria is crystal-clear. He is always willing to work with you if you mess up, but have demonstrated that you're a hard-working student. Great professor, underrated.
TAKE HIM. Hands down best professor I have ever had. I took his online course. He has reviews for each quiz tests are easy if you read the chapters. Just one book for the class, but it DOES HAVE to be read if you want to pass. As long as you do EVERY assignment for his class, you will pass. I can not say enough great things about this professor.
I took him for an online class and overall it was good, you DEFINITELY have to read and do the study questions to pass, but make sure you write down a good bit for each questions because the tests are VERY specific. Really this is what a college class should be, not easy but not too hard either.
I took the class online and it was rather simple, but do not go into the class thinking he will be there to help. I sent multiple emails trying to clarify some things about the essays and never got a response. I did my best, he gave me a 0, then emailed asking questions about it and never received an answer. There is a quiz over every chapter.
He is great! He has a tendency to RANT, but it's worth coming to class. Online Quizzes based off the study guide he give you for the test. There is also a test curve. 3 essays, the third one is optional. Easy grader on those as well. I used to hate History and now I'm entertained and interested. I'm going to take him for HIST 1302 as well.
Professor Weiland is really good at lectures and gives you enough information for the study guides and the tests. You need the book and to take notes. Challenging but very informative.
Nice professor, good review for the tests and quizzes. Liked his lectures. Does not care about attendance. Not easy A, but still possible if you read a lot. p.s. passed his class with a previous edition book
WARNING! This online course will RUIN your GPA. I make straight As, and this class made me want to quit school. THERE ARE NO LECTURES OR OTHER STUDENTS- NONE, it's ONLY YOU and the BOOK! Every 3 weeks you do 3-4 mini essays300 words and an essay1100 on what you've taught yourself. 17 quizzes+3 Exams/Papers+1 book$230 OR libraryfree, U decide...
DO NOT take online. It's just you + the book, no extras. If you can't self-teach, you will fail. Had to dig and sacrifice lots to get a low A. Mysteriously dropped grades without saying. Moved a test UP so we had to take it early. -10 points if you use quotes in essays. Rarely replied to emails. Changed grading criteria 2 weeks before the end.
Prof Weiland is awesome. His class does require lots of work but if you do it, the class flies by. All of his quizzes are on quizlet and the test questions are straight from the quizzes, super easy to pass his class!
If you are a person that usually does not do well in history, this might not be the best professor for you. Although the grade is solely based on tests, quizzes, and 3 comments on the study guide, his lectures are very monotone. Expect to show up to class, and just have him talk. No interaction with the students. Just himself talking!
Overall very nice and understanding. Can seem frustrated at times but that's just his personality. Will read off PowerPoint like all history professors but also shares insight and stories. Humorous at times. Took role at the start of semester but not throughout. Textbook is necessary if you don't go to class. powerpoints are not made available.
DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE. If you take him online it will be self teach. You reading the book and taking the quizzes and doing the essay questions. If you have any concerns about your grade what so ever he will not care. He comes off as very rude and if you send him a email expect to get a very minimal response that will be one sentence if that.
He has 3 test no final the tests are over about 5ish chapters. On the last 2 exams he let us use notes. There are discussion questions to be filled out for each unit about 3-9 questions. Has quizzes for each chapter and only 3 essays one per unit. Quiz-let is your best friend in this class.
Prof. Weiland was overall a great professor for HIST 1301. Although he is very lecture heavy, he is very passionate about history and is available to help anyone who seeks it. There are 3 tests which are all multiple choice. He doesn't take attendance after the 1st week of class, and the assignments are easy. Easy A as long as you put in the effort
he NEVER stops lecturing.
Professor W the best history teacher at Quad C. I was not looking forward to HIST 1301 but he makes you want to attend each day of class. He is hilarious & knows what he's saying, unlike most teachers. There is only 3 unit test. The quizzes/essay are submitted online. He says to read the book 2x but I only used it for the online quizzes & essays.
Really knows his stuff, i wouldn't be surprised if he's a genius.
Awesome professor made class super fun and easy to understand!
He is so funny and makes lectures so much more interesting. All the work is outside of the class. Each chapter has a review quiz and the unit tests are basically all of the review quizzes. I read a lot which definitely helps. He can seem inpatient at times but he is overall a very nice guy and knows what he is talking about. Attend class and read!
I loved Mr Weiland! He's very entertaining, willing to answer any of your questions, and accessible/communicative. He's funny and even though he lectures a lot he keeps things interesting. He provides opportunities to improve your grade (not necessarily extra credit). HIGHLY recommend reading the textbook! Attending class helps.
one of the best history professors at Collin!! took his class at the east plano location, class was easy! I learned a lot in his class! would definitely take his class again!!
Witty, intelligent, full of facts, and organized. You turn in three 1,100 word essays, 3 unit tests, and approx. 18 quizzes. It's better to have the textbook and read it. His lectures are peppered with hilarious comments and interesting facts. He's only boring if you hate learning. Solid choice! Put the effort in and you'll get an A.
Great smart professor, easy A class with him
This professor is incredibly rude. So unnecessary the way he responds in his messages. He also has extremely strict requirements fro his essays, far too strict for a freshman level class. Do not take him, he sucks. Online btw.
Very fun teacher and makes history very interesting! Only has 3 essay grades, but drops the lowest so you really only have to write 2. The rest of the grades include tests and quizzes. They are online so you can use your book and notes! Easy class and definitely recommend.
This online class nearly killed me. If we had not been quarantined I would have dropped it. Its 3 units. Each unit has 5 chapters to read, answer between 20-30 essay questions, answer 5 questions on a group assignment, an essay, 5 quiz's ans an exam. The directions for the essays are beyond unclear and he grades on a curve. Just too much!!
Dr. Weiland is very heavy on papers. You have six 1100 word essays to write but the two lowest graded essays are dropped so basically if you write 4 good essays, youre good. You have 3 study guide submissions which are five 250 word minimum responses each. The rest is 15 quizzes, 5 for each unit. Most of your grade is how well you can write.
I dont know why Im reading so many bad reviews about him?! For anyone whos terrible or hates history (me) YOU CAN still pass! its only hard if youre lazy and dont do the work! With that being said, there will be a lot of assignments, since this is a college course ppl... duh. but this shouldnt scare u lol.
By far the easiest class I have ever taken. You can tell he loves what he does. Quizzes are all online and he is lenient with work. You have 3 papers and you only have to do 2 of them.
Professor Weiland is an amazing professor, the work load for the class is a bit heavy, but if you stay on top of your reading's and essay's, you'll make an easy A. You have 6 essays to write during the semester, but he will drop you lowest two. The quizzes are open book, and relatively easy. Easy, enjoyable, and informative class!
Amazing lecturer according to myself and others who took him, and I haven't taken any other history college course yet but I think it was a fair amount of textbook reading if you want to study by them. There were some easy weekly grades but you had to make a good effort to score well on the tests. He makes the lectures entertaining :)
A good professor. I enjoyed his classes, enjoyed his lectures. His teaching method is awesome, you'll understand everything he'll teach you. But he is homework heavy and I mean HEAVY. You'll be doing his homework every single day, discussions, essays etc.
Although this professor has decent lectures, they are filled with material and he is overall very unorganized. The criteria on the essays and the discussions are very broad and you can't tell if you are going to get a good grade or not. Beware he also enters grades really late
Professor W makes history engaging with his witty lectures. The textbook is required, but unstuckstudy is a helpful study tool alongside it. Tests and essays require effort, but the class is manageable for a decent grade.
He is a passionate historian; I could tell he loves history. The amount of work will surely be A LOT. HOWEVER, it really helps you grasp the material. IF you're lazy and like to cheat, I don't recommend you to take him because he will give you a solid zero. He is NOT a tough grader, just do it and be HONEST, and full credits will easily be yours.
Don't ever use AI like Chatgpt to write your homework, he'll report you to the Dean. As long as u do the work, follow the instructions, its an easy A. His lectures are interesting and he cares for his students because he bumps the exam grades. Also its a proctored exam multiple choice. Goodluck!
Don't take him if you're looking for a class to breeze through. He's very paranoid of AI, if he finds out or suspects academic dishonesty, you will be reported to the dean. Your essay grade is based on what turnitin gives you. Luckily, he'll drop your lowest essay grade. Exams are proctored and curved. Can be passive aggressive via email.
This professor is alright, not bad at all. You have only like one assignment every week, and its a discussion post (for HIST1301 online). At the end of each unit theres a 2 collaboration assignments, a test, and a very lengthy essay. He takes such a long to to reply to messaging though, and its very annoying. Also dont use AI, he will catch you.
Professor Weiland is very understanding and great with students. I had a transportation problem and he was very supportive, so if you need a break he will give it to you. He does give some homework, with weekly discussion and long study guides, but you only have to focus on reading. If you read, you can do everything in his class.
I took his class online, and let me tell you he is awful at explaining exactly what he wants on assignments and then when you do it incorrectly because he didn't explain it well he just gives you a bad grade. His class wasn't hard by any means he just doesn't know how to communicate properly.
Not tech-savvy at all, I don't recommend taking this class online.
A chill professor, but won't change his ways, even if he is in the wrong. He has way too many homeworks, too many quizzes etc. But if you're taking his hybrid class, the exams are online and he can't tell ai written to a human written text
