he`s a cooky, funny guy! Goes VERY slow in teaching to make everything understandable, keeps us entertained, gives very little hw every night, and tests are very short & ez! only negative is that he takes attendance everyday. otherwise, A+ for dave! =)

Elementary Algebra. Showed EVERY STEP of EVERY problem, made sure you got it. Will review old stuff if you forgot. Will not continue until everyone understands. Slow pace teaching for people that aren't the best at math. No homework. Quizes bi-weekly.

Ive dropped math 4 times, then i took his class in the summer. Not only did i learn how to do math, but he actually made it somewhat interesting to do. no collected homework, but quizes are tricky. go to every class, it really helps. pay attention.

BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! I've never been good at math but Dave is great at taking things step by step to explain them. Will do as many example problems needed untill you understand. He is always around to help you outside of class. Great teacher!!

No matter how bad at math you think you are, Dave will make you love it. I have always hated math until his classes, I have taken him 3 semesters in a row, (Math MO1, Math MO3, Math MO7). He makes you forget about the work and makes you laugh.

If you suck at Math(like me) this is the professor for you. For the first time Math just made sense, not only do you learn how to solve problems but you will learn how you arrived at the correct answer and that can be transfered to the tests and future Math classes.

Great sense of humor. Will take points off for details on a test, but if you attend class and do even half of the homework you should be allright. He manages to make even the dryest subject matter fun at times. If you bring him food from Pup'n Taco in the valley, he'll give extra credit.

I had this teacher for three semesters of math, a loathed subject, and he made me actually like it. He is extremely helpful and motivating.

I promised Dave I would do this to him…He is a sadist. You must pay attention and take notes during class sessions, because he teaches concepts beyond what you will find in the book. Pay attention to his “DAVE FAVES.” If you don’t do the homework, you are guaranteed a failure (not because you have to turn it in, but because his tests are difficult)

Excellent teacher.I improved a lot with him.He makes it clear and i could understand math better, he adds a dose of humor and is organized and clear. If you are responsible you will do great, but if you don't you will die. I learned so much from him, he gives new ways to do math, very different from the past.

He is really a kind man. He has a hard shell, but you can see it crack one in a while. He is really a teddy bear inside. Dave is one of the coolest teachers at the school. He makes usually hard algebra very easy with his little tricks he uses. But you have to do the homework and show up for all the quizzes and classes. I have taken Dave for Math M03 and M07. I can tell you from experience that Dave is the BEST math teacher in all Moorpark College. He is an excellent teacher. He goes slow for all of us idiots who arent good at math. He is very helpful, even during his office hours. I HIGHLY recommend you taking this professor if you dont like mundane math classes.

This is my second class with Dave. He is still the most awesome math teacher of my life. He is a total curmudgeon, but if you ever had trouble in math, he is the one for you. BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD! no joke this guy made me like math for the first time. I took him for Mo1 and Mo3 and it was great. I was actually disappointed with this class. Everyone leaves such great reviews of this guy, but fails to mention that he has no E.C. available and his tests are too long for the allotted time, so you don't finish. More than half my class dropped/failed. I don't really recommend him for these reasons, even though he does explain things fairly well.

I hear from students he is the best most understanding teacher. Students overflow in all his classes. That says alot. Reliable for office hours. His work is so clear. Tried to get into class but again, it was full. Counselors say the same thing.

Very clear teaching and notes. You know exactly what will be on the tests and final, all you have to do is study. At times dry though and too slow for my taste. He is always willing to help during his office hours. You only have 4 tests and a final though so if you're not a good test taker don't take. I got an A with lots of studying.

I was lucky enough to take Dave my first semester at MC for M01 (I also took his M03). For someone who never learned their times tables to walk into a classroom, where everyone else thought the work was hard, and walk out with an A says a lot about a teacher. I highly recommend Dave. If math doesn't come easy to you, don't take this class. He is funny, but not when it comes to grading your tests. Almost everyday he would say i hate this class. When you would ask for help from him, he would react as if you were attacking him. I think he was a good teacher but,hates teaching mo3.

Good teacher but with a horrible attitude. He will punish the whole class if he thinks a few people aren't doing the homework;he does this by making the quizzes impossible. I never missed a class, met with him weekly, did extra practice problems & I would still make stupid mistakes on the tests. I was hoping to earn an 'A' & I am sure he is aware I know my stuff, but I don't test well & got a 'B' instead. There is no extra credit, your grade is based primarily on your tests, so do well on them and you are golden.

I love this guy! I was absolutely horrible at math prior to taking his class. The way that he teaches just made it all clear to me. He is a great teacher and explains everything in FULL detail. He is really sarcastic and jokes a lot. Take him! You won't regret it.

Great teacher. VERY HARD GRADER. Tests are near impossible to get an A on. On the first three tests in the class the average score was 55, 68 and 64. Over half of the class dropped.

I can't say I wasn't warned when he said his was the hardest possible math 07 class. Attendance is basically mandatory and the homework is not required but still necessary. However his dry sarcasm and wit kept me interested and I actually learned a lot in his class. Hard class, hard tests but I would definitely take again.

A lot of people have negative things to say about Dave: they say that he is aloof, indifferent, uninspiring, and could be a maniac whose jokes are downright corny. Yes, "u". However, if i had to be honest with myself, this course has brought me the most satisfaction that i have had in all my courses. Work hard, and you will do fine!

Tests are not easy not hard. Lectures & explains the material EXTREMELY clearly...very easy to understand. I barely passed calc the 1st time but almost got A with him. funny guy, class isnt too boring. Take good notes in class and youll be fine. Fairly hard tests, the time limit is a huge factor.You need to know what you are doing when you take the test you can't fumble around and still get a good grade. Homework is very important. You cannot use calculators so make sure your math is strong.You may be able to take a different teacher and get a higher grade but will be less equiped for 25B

He is an amazing teacher. Explains everything thoroughly and answers any questions. His tests are fair but gives an hour to take them which feels rushed. But I would reoccomend anyone to take him because you will have a great understanding of calculus at the end of this course.

Dave was a stupendous teacher to have. He will stop and explain a concept to anyone who has a concept, albeit in a sarcastic manner. Classes included just enough humor to keep students interested and engaged but not so much so as to make it counterproductive. There is a reason why students chose to take Dave four semesters in a row.

Dave is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious but smart too. He is super helpful but gives no test review. The tests are super difficult and its easy to get tripped up in small things. You need to hit the ground running, dont wait for your first bad grade to start studying. If you get some good time in the Tutoring center, you have a shot at an A.

Dave tricks people ALL THE TIME (hand slap three times), but he warns you and points it out. You need to take good notes, stay on top of your home work, and ask A LOT OF QUESTIONS. Any examples he puts on the board is fair game for the test; mainly focus on the harder ones. His tests are tricky and hard, but worth it for a solid base in calc

This guy is like Dr. House, your not sure whether to love or hate him. Hes a brilliant teacher who explains everything well, does plenty of examples, and makes Calculus easy to understand. He WILL try to trick you on tests, but he warns you ahead of time. He does make fun of students in his classes, but only those who dont keep thier heads down.

I love Dave! I took him for math 1 and math 3 and dad great in both classes. YOU HAVE TO STUDY to do good on the tests. Doesn't look at HW but if you do it, you'll do MUCH better on tests. Best math teacher I've ever had by far.

If you are looking for an easy A, or someone who lets things slide, do NOT take this class. He is a very tough grader, and does not allow calculators. WARNING: Be careful about missing tests! If you miss just one, you are subject to being dropped. Let him know ahead of time, and you better have a good excuse. I barely passed with a C.

I absolutely loved this class. Dave is a sarcastic, cold, mean person and loved picking on people in class. You grow to love this class. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A however. You really need to study and be prepared because he will crunch you on every little thing he can. No matter how much he says he hates teaching or how much he hates class, he doesn't.

Weinstein was extremely entertaining. I took his summer class, and will vouch that this course is definitely not easy. However, if you do the homework and get your questions answered in class, the quizzes are just like the problems you've practiced. Loved his personality! He grades very fairly and tells you EXACTLY what he will take points off for!

Sarcastic and funny! For those who are not math people, Dave makes it as bearable as it can possibly be. He explains things clearly, and even though the the tests can be a little hard and tedious, he tells you exactly what to expect. DO THE HOMEWORK. Dave is a good teacher but he has his own way of doing things, even in math. I felt like I was getting cheated on my education because he wasn't going in depth on some areas of math. He makes the course very easy by assigning just 10-20 problems of HW each day. I would recommend Dave if you need a teacher to make math seem easy.

Don't take his M-F classes if you do not test well. 50 minutes is not enough time to take one of his tests.

Math does not come easy to me. Before I took this course I got a C in M03(with a different professor) and did not have a formal math class in two years. Dave made math fun again because of his sarcasm. Just as long as you do your homework and are there everyday you will pass, if you miss one day you will die. I managed to pull a C in this course.

You will have to devote your time and energy to do well on his quizzes and final. Study hard and do the homework. You earn the grade you get! Not a class that u can skate by in. Dave is everything a great math teacher should be. He gives everything you need to pass the class and he explains every concept clearly. Yes, it is the only B I have gotten so far, but the tests challenge you so you end up doing better and learning even more on each one. If only he taught calc I would still take him even if it meant a lower grade.

He's a great teacher with a very deliberate lesson plan. The tests aren't hard but he is a very strict grader and knows it. He has many hand outs for help/extra practice. He is amazing with grading: he gives you the answer sheet before leaving on test days and has them graded by the next lecture (Monday). He is a memorable teacher. Take him!

Best Professor ever! I loved him. I had never in high school gotten a math grade better than a C, and on my first math test with him I got an A! He does love fractions, but also loves to teach you how to deal with those fractions, so it's not a problem. If you want to understand math, take his class.

Dave is completely honest with his grading, he knows his material and will answer any math questions you have. Ask questions, do the homework and don't miss class! Weinstein was honestly the best math professor i've ever had. I took math M03 as a refresher course because i skipped a year in high school. His lectures are great. He always has ways to help you remember the formulas. Everything he says is very helpful. Attendance matters as always and make sure you take notes and do all homework or you will die.

Great guy and truly belongs at a university. Structure is phenomenal for those needing a solid foundation in algebra. If you want to make the class easy, GO to office hours and ask for extra homework problems. Makes a HUGE difference between getting an easy A or barely passing by. Tests are tough but manageable. & do NOT take if you are a wuss. lol

Homework is optional, but if you want to pass, do it. He's awesome and funny, and I really enjoyed coming to class. Just do your homework and ask questions in class and you'll get an A, and the work isn't hard. Pay attention to his rules, or he will crunch you.

The people that complain about him are people that can't take a joke, or were the people that were on their phones when he was explaining something, and then asked him a question about what he just explained, then got butthurt when he pointed out their idiocy. The lectures are crystal clear, and perfectly organized for your notes. Use common sense.

If you are actually looking to learn Math, Dave is the professor to take. He is sort of rude and demeaning but he does it in a hilarious way. It won't be easy breezy but he makes the class fun. Also, don't take his classes if you can't handle rude jokes or if you are a stickler. If you do the bonus homework you'll be fine on the tests.

Warlord Weinstein, or Dictator Dave does his best o help you out and make sure you understand the problems he gives you. He is not afraid to fail you and lets you know right off the bat that he does not care whether you pass or fail his class, he wants you to work for it and want it for yourself.

Tests are tough, lot of homework can't miss class and he gives you grade that you earned. Was a horrible HS student and I took him for MO1 and MO3 and passed with A's. Explains everything clear. He sets you up for success. Be prepared to work hard. Best professor I've had. Has ways of explaining things that make math so clear.

I am terrible at math and dave is an extremely hard grader but his expectations are clear. Also no matter how much he demeans you, it is so clear that he cares about his students success and is also so helpful!!!! I have never understood math, and still do not understand a lot, but I did learn a great deal from Dave. Dave was always willing to help during office hours and he was always willing to answer questions in class. Although I did not pass the class, it was of no fault of the instructor.

Dave was a great professor during summer, although it was more fast paced than an average semester I was able to tell that he wanted to show us more and was willing to teach us, I am grateful for taking his class. he is a really good instructor, he makes you work for your grade and does not have any emotions . 37 years factoring can do magic.

Dave is awesome. He can teach you tricks with math that will have you chuckling to yourself and think "why didn't they teach me this before". He's been around the block so nothing is new to him, he's seen it all. He talks about how much he doesn't care about your grade but if you get to see past his tough skin you know he's sincere .

He keeps the class entertained while still going through the lesson clearly. He gives a lot of ways to remember certain math rules, steps, etc. its quite a heavy load of homework, he doesn't check it ever, but if you don't practice you'll probably fail :( he's a good teacher to have if you're not good with math!

Professor Weinstein makes a subject that is difficult and unpleasant for many easy to understand and enjoyable with his humor and how thorough he is when going over the homework. Use his techniques, attend class and do the homework and you'll be golden. Only downside to having him? You'll never find another math professor whose that darn funny.

Took him for my first semester at Moorpark. Quickly became my favorite professor. Makes class engaging, funny, and interesting all in one. While it is true he is a strict grader. He is a fair grader and genuinely cares about his students and is willing to help them if they come to him. He makes a lot of jokes, so be prepared for his snarky humor!

If you want to truly understand math take Dave's class. Dave is hilarious and has amazing learning methods. As someone who failed math in High School, this is by far the best class Ive taken. The homework isnt collected, but definitely DO IT if you want to pass. Honestly if you actually show up and put in effort and youll be fine! I never thought Id miss a math class but Im going to miss this one :)

Daves class is definitely difficult. You wont get an A if you just show up to class. It is not an easy A class. His tests are very hard (he chooses the most difficult problems to put on the test) and he marks points off for the slightest errors like misspelling a word. He is super funny, but the class can get boring sometimes. Still a great class

Dave is honestly one of the greatest Math teachers I've ever taken, he teaches the material extremely well, and his "Dave-isms" are actually very helpful for remembering things. His grading is brutal, homework isn't graded but you SHOULD 100% do it, its so challenging to pass his tests without it. Such a challenging class but he is 100% worth it.

Doesn't grade hw, your grade relies on your test scores. I'd def take him again.

I had the pleasure to take his M01 class down in the "dungeon". No sun, no signs of life -other than my fellow peasants- only MATH! I'm convinced that I was brainwashed by his Davisms, which he had us constantly repeat in unison. He made me understand and enjoy math and I don't know what's wrong with me. Probably the best teacher I've ever had.

Unfortunately due to health emergencies, I had to drop the class right before it was over. However, I have taken this professor before and passed... not easily, but I did. Honestly he is the BEST math professor I have ever had. He actually has a personality and uses very creative ways to keep you engaged. This class is hard but so worth it.

Dave was the best teacher I ever had in college. I struggled with math until I took his class and he helped me not only understand math, but enjoy it. I just learned he retired from Moorpark College and I wanted to write a review in his honor. Thank you for being an inspiration and a beacon of knowledge. I will former cherish your lectures. AD

Dave's classes were incredibly helpful. His teaching style broke down complex topics, and with tools like unstuckstudy ai, I was able to master the material. Definitely take his class if you can!
