By far the coolest professor I've had since I started here last year. He goes over anything that is unclear from previous lectures before starting any new material. His in-class demos and examples (ie: clips from the Simpsons) make Perception a really interesting & fun subject! Highly recommended :)

This is the best psych class I have ever taken. Whitney makes it fun and has great, real life interaction with his TAs. Funny guy. He also is very clear. The material is hard for straight up psych students, but people with a backrgound in physics and biology will not have any problem at all. It is VITAL to go to class.

AMAZING Professor -- he really tries to make sure the students are engaged and making sure they understand. He's clever, witty, and entertaining. He does ingenious demonstrations and has clips from Family Guy and other shows in his slides, as well as optical illusions that keep everybody impressed. We rate each class and he uses it to improve.

This professor was absolutely awesome!..But in order to succeed in this class YOU MUST ATTEND LECTURES, just reading the text will not help you at all, going to the TA OH's also helps. He is very passionate with his teaching...Not an easy A, but you don't exactly have to study tooooo tooo much either!Great class!

Prof. Whitney is by far the best professor I've ever had. He loves his job and it shows. He's so damn enthusiastic and wants you to have a good time in class. Don't take the class too lightly though. It's definitely not an easy A. With a good amount of studying, a B should be fairly easy to get. The end-of-course curve helps lots.

Great professor. As he infamously states the first day, YOU MUST ATTEND LECTURE. Even then, the class is certainly not easy. Grading is based on 2/3 midterms and a final only making it a pure test-takers class. Material is interesting and professor thought-provoking. His videos and slides are amazing as are his simulations on color blindness.

The easiest class to attend. Sit in the middle rows and see the effects of the concepts he's talking about. I've heard tests were hard, but I didn't find this to be true. Just go every day, and you should remember what you see. Take another PSC like 135 before this, and don't take PSC 131 with anyone else!!

Super difficult. Good if you are a Psychbiology major, horrible if you want to get a BA. Goes too specific into the biology of it all. You need to remember all the terms to do just decently. Aims to trick on tests. Final was 100 Qs. Despite a good initial peer review, horrible RMP reviews and for a good reason. AVOID - hope he goes back to Harvard.

Awesome professor. One of the best professors I've had here. Lectures are fun (professor's funny and lot's of demos), and you actually learn a lot. Cool class.

I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! He's funny, engaging, and brilliant. Class is super interesting and you learn a ton. Attendance is a must and be sure you know how to apply the material, not just memorize. Test questions are ambiguous and focus on minuet details. I got a lower grade then I expected and worked my @ss off.

Learned more about perception than any other class taken anywhere. You MUST go to every class, but it is entertaining enough that doing so won't be difficult.

Whitney is a smart, hilarious, and engaging professor. He warns at the beginning that attending lecture is necessary, but his lectures are so great that I never miss it. He is organized, thorough, and very willing to answer questions. His tests can be hard but the final grade in the class is curved. Also, did I mention he's hilarious?

Extremely interesting lectures. However, the tests were brutal! Study the content well, ask questions, and know each lecture conceptually (not just rote memorization). I would recommend this as a P/NP course for people outside of the Psychology major who are interested in illusions, vision science, and psychology in general.

This professor is heartless. He poked fun at people who couldn't come into lecture in ugly ways. His exams had questions like "was this picture in lecture?" And his final exam did not accommodate for technical difficulties (which I thought was a given after nearly 2 years of online school). Basically he's gross, unfunny, and rude. He shouldbe fired
