Funny guy, easy to understand, non-intimidating, posts grades online
it's like being taught by billy crystal... he's funny, but he doesn't go by the book and his tests are hard... just don't take him.
very hard to understand, rambles and rambles in low voice. skips from one thing to the next, confusing. material practicly out of the book, very boring class. tests confusing and tricky.
very funny, very nice, but a little disorganized. sit in the front, because he talks kind of low. if you take good notes in lecture or read the book, you should ace it.
You can tell he loves his job which makes you like the class more. Easy to miss a whole study if you space out cuz he talks semi-fast, but he's so funny about it bc he's so energized. Go to class, read the book, understand it, and you can do well

If you are looking for an easy 'A', look elsewhere! His test are hard! If however you are looking to really learn about the subject, this may hit the bill. He is very a knowledgeable, energetic, and effective educator.
Defintely try to attend every lecture, he has materials in test that are not in the book. He goes over a lot of material but presents it in an interesting way. I dont recommend taking the class for an easy grade but its not bad for psych majors.
I learned a great deal in this interesting class. Prof. Wilder was always enthusiastic and thorough about the material he presented. His exams were on the tricky side but he drops the lowest grade and curves, so that was good.
this guy is terrible. He makes his test intentionally very tricky, which wouldn't be so bad if he taught the material well. He is very disorganized and has some serious ADHD. Overall, he sucks. Take Social Psych with Kilianski, he's much better
The exams are really hard and tricky, but his lectures are actually very informative. He's no stand-up comic, but he can be funny. If you hate going to classes, he won't help, but if you don't, this is a pretty good class.
The exams are a pain in the ass, but the rest of the course is pretty good. He talks fast then slow, then fast... you get the idea. Try not to miss class.
Interesting lecture. Funny guy, too. I suggest you sit in the front row and attend the lectures, because many of the studies discussed in class are not in the book but are on the tests. Otherwise, a great learning experience.
Took his class twice and still only got a C+. Multiple choice questions are absurd.
Lectures are actually interesting and you learn a lot but the exams are really ambiguous and a little unintentionally confusing.
During lectures i felt as though he should be put on ritalin, runs around like a 5 year old on a sugar high, exams are not easy - questions are unclear, and so is he...stay away!
This guy is a MESS. Teaching is all over the place, confusing HARD exams. Always teaches sitting on table. The table actually BROKE during one lecture... and he FELL ON THE FLOOR. Yes, let me repeat.. HE FELL ON THE FLOOR.
interesting but hard. stay away
curves wont work if the nerds ruins it. Dropping an exam grade wont work if all his exams are tricky and meant for you to fail. dont do it...he talks 1000 words per sec and writes 2 words on the board as notes.
Attend all lectures. Exams are hard as hell, but not too bad if you read carefully and take good class notes. Other than that he's a good teacher, very interesting.
hard ass exams.
As long as you do the reading and go to most of the lectures, you'll do fine. He doesn't give homework; you only get graded on exams, which aren't that difficult--just multi-choice questions, very similar to ones seen on an AP Psych exam.
Unclear professor. Alot of notes are just from the lectures, so you have to attend classes often or get notes from first class.
nothing about this class is good. he is a hard prof. that gives examples of studies in class that you have to know on the exam. exams are very very hard and impossible questions. Dont take this class with him!
HARD EXAMS UNCLEAR NOTES
i feel bad saying it b/c he's nice and sometimes funny, but this guy is boring. social psych SHOULD be a more interesting psych topic, but he kills it. exams: so-so. you have to go to lecture to get notes that arent in the book. lecture hurts!
He isnt as bad as everyone says. You Do have to attend classes b/c he refers to studies that aren't in the book. The exams are a little tricky but not extremely hard. He's funny!
you have to attend lectures for the studies that arent in the book and his exams are extremely tricky..i feel bad for the guy cuz hes nice but he sucks because he makes his exams soo hard! dont take him
i was really excited about taking social psych but i ended up dropping it after the 1st exam. he talks so fast and so softly that i couldnt even hear most of the things he said in class. he seemed like a nice guy but hes a horrible teacher...
This guy is the worst ever bro....dont take him unless u wanna get a C...the one test i actually read everything for, i get a ****in D and the lowest D possible, his tests are ****in tricky as hell, hes speaks a thousands words a min., and is weirdas hell
He should be fired
Some of his lectures were OK, others he seemed to go everywhere. He does curve, though.
OMFG do not take this class unless you know the material beforehand. 4 exams, equally weighted. Confusing as hell questions. You can have a good grasp on the material, and he words the questions so that you dont understand what hes asking. Also has ADD
Very interesting lectures if you like the course material - goes a little too fast.Study notes and textbook if you take this class. Hard class but was a fun class-exams are hard but you CAN get an A-believe me I am not a bookworm
Very interesting class, very good teacher. He shows movies and will keep you awake. READ THE BOOK! He goes over a lot of experiments, memorize them. Warning: He runs around the stage so fast he gave half the class seizures. He laughs and jumps!
Interesting course, horrible professor! He's very disorganized, and that shows in his tests and his notes. You can't go by what he writes down, you have to follow him closely all the time, and many of his test questions are ambiguous. Don't take him
Very funny and very fun. An enjoyable introduction to social psych.
awesome guy, interesting. gives good examples and is helpful. not sure if his ADD adds or takes away from the class
hes terrible!!!!!!do NOT take his class EVER!!!!!!!! yOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO. I hear Killianski is good though....
He is a terrible prof. Very difficult to try and follow what he is saying in lectures. You can know everything and think you did well on an exam yet you'll somehow still end up with a C. No matter how hard you try you will not do well. Don't take him!
I truly agress with the person below. No matter how hard you try you'll never get a good grade in his class.
His ADHD just made mine worse. His lecture is the worst boggled and his tests are filled with trick questions.Do not try to argue, he will NOT give points no matter how much proof you've got...you will NOT do as well as you think on any exam.
IF you want your GPA to drop, then take this course. IF you want to fail this class, then take him. Talks so damn fast can't understand a thing he says. So hyper!
He is the worst teacher ive ever met in my life...his tests are confusing, and no matter how much u study you still get C's. he is funny at points, but it doesnt matter, because you are just so frustrated at how horrible he is...take the class with a different teacher, it is an interesting class
He's a good man, but he sucks at teaching.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The exams are hard and a bit confusing! He has a nice personality though.
Do not take this class, he sucks at teaching. its hard to get a B in his class, he is very hyper, and goes so fast that you will never undertand him. DONT TAKE HIM, PLEASE
Really funny guy. He's really hyper and enthusiastic about the course, and that kept me awake. He does talk really fast but if you just pay attention, you'll get everything. Besides, all his notes are on the transparencies that he leaves up for a while. Tests are easy if you go to lecture and read.
There is nothing easy about this class. Material seems easy but in fact the tests he gives are ridiculous and will leave you spinning. Take this class with Kilianski and save yourself time, energy and heartache.
This teacher is very difficult. He's interesting, but talks extremely fast.Ask questions and sit up front.MUST READ MATERIAL.has 4 tests multiple choice.tests are very tricky.DO NOT MISS LECTURE.one missed class and you're missing like half the test.GO TO OFFICE HOURS.knows his stuff
just take down the details of the experiments and the conclusions and u'll get an A. but be warned, this guy be wilin' out in class man. lol. most nervous person ever. he's a really cool guy tho. i recommend
Runs around the class and talks very fast. Tries to confuse you on 4 mult choice exams. You gotta read the book and go to class to follow him closely. I did and got an A. He's really awesome guy tho. I'd hang out with him, just wouldn't take any more of his classes.
I enjoyed lecture only because he is so damn hyper! His funny and interesting but is not an easy professor he likes what he does and wants you to know what he talks about so do not miss lecture and read the material! Reviews for exams go extremely fast so it wont help. READ BOOK!!
Here's a funny story: His class bored the hell out of me so I usually left 1/2 way through each lecture. My hoodie was filled with quarters for the parking meters, and when I got up to sneak out of the back row, I dropped a pen so I bent over to pick it up. All the quarters fell out of my hoodie onto the tile floor-.mortified. Moral: dont sneak out
It's like he's high on drugs! He has like a ADHD problem and can't stand still or finish a sentence properly. I swear he goes through a couple of seizures for each class!! His exams have no relevancy to ANYTHING!!I memorize my notes, his notes and my outline of the text and still ended up with a F! Unless u wanna see a psycho at 9AM, don't take him
His class wasn't that hard, don't even really have to go. Just read the book, everything he talks about is straight from the book. Just memorize the basic comcepts of each person and you'll do fine. Exams aren't that bad. He's a pretty good guy too.
Looking for an easy A? Look elsewhere! But the guy knows his doo doo! If you want to actually learn about the subject then I reccomend this class!
I really like his class. He's very hyper like the other people said, but it keeps you awake and interested in what he's saying. His tests are very fair, I barely studied and have gotten B's on them so far.
Not an easy class, but very interesting to take with this professor. He definately keeps you interested and awake, VERY hyper guy. Definately read the text, his online notes are also pretty helpful.
He's a pretty decent guy. His lectures are somewaht boring, he pretty much reiterates everything straight from the book. You don't have to go to class since everything is straight from the book. Material can sometimes be a little difficult, but just memorize the basic concepts and that should be enough to get a B+ or A.
Funny professor. He's really interested in the material so he makes you interested in too. The class is pretty easy if you make the effort to learn the material which is not hard because its real life stuff; things you wanted to know and are suprised to find out. Sometimes lectures can be boring but then the professor trips and livens it up.
1st i got a b, then a ****in d. his exams are mad tricky, **** him
He's ridiculous! His lectures are boring, the slides are online and make coming to class unneccessary, and he is not a good speaker at all. Fortunately, his tests aren't too bad. Most of the class is common sense.
TAKE THIS CLASS. You do not have to go to a single lecture with this professor. The exams come straight from the chapters in the book so as long as your a good reader and pay attention to details, you can take each exam without any lectures and get an A. Just make sure to double check the exam times and dates.
He talks so fast he can barely keep up with himself. It's easier to just print the slides and read them yourself. He's a nice guy though. Exams are middling- make sure you read, but he doesn't make the questions intentionally tricky.
He's a really nice guy. He rambles alot n goes off topic, n like people said you really don't have to go to class xcept for the day before an exam or quiz(to find out what its going to cover) & the day of an exam or quizz. The quizzes are a little tough, they cover alot of names, and details. Exams are essay and are more general questions. Easy A
I had him for a graudate statistics course, the grade was a surprise, I did well on the first test and the only other graded things were the final and a final paper. He gets of topic a lot, and cancelled class several times. He started off the semester by saying he didn't want to be teaching this class, and the class never got better.
Wilder is a great professor. The textbook is excellent, and he's great at explaining stuff--people should have asked more questions in class rather than sit there like vegetables... Don't expect to do well if you're not willing to do at least a 'medium' amount of work!
I've taken this class before and it was simple, but it only transfered to Rutgers as an elective so I took it again. The way Wilder teaches makes it nowhere near as easy. Know the experiments, Conecepts, Definitions, and any vocabulary he gives. Go to class to see what topics are important and on the exam. Take someone else if you can.
He's a really nice guy, but a pretty bad prof. always jumping all over the place n sometimes goes off tangent. his exams are straight out of his slides and the book. be prepared before exams and you should be alright. not a bad class
He is funny, clear, and exams come right off of the slides/book. You don't have to go to class, but I recommend it because he gives out extra credit and gives examples that may be on the exam. Overall, a pretty good professor.
Fun professor, tricky exams, if you end up with an A it means you actually learned something.
In no way is he helpful, approachable, understandable, or a good teacher. I hate the class, I can hardly sit thru it, and even though i do every day and study for hours I still fail the damn tests, because the study guides are all over the place. He makes nothing interesting or useful to learn. He basically just spits out a bunch of studies at you.
This professor is the worst! His class is boring, his exams are hard, and he's not very helpful. You have to read at least 100 pages from the book for each of the four exams. His exams are worded hard and all the answers sound almost the same with slight differences that are so random. Take this class with any other professor.
Great professor - funny and interesting, the info itself is interesting as well. Not hard at all - just pay attention to all the studies and read the book and you're fine.
This guy is hilarious and he keeps the class interesting. His tests are somewhat tricky but it's still fairly easy to get an A. He gave 3 extra credit opportunities. I would sit near the front because he talks really really fast.
hardest psych class i've taken so far..
Good prof. Lectures are very clear, and exams are pretty easy. He uses the book alot which is frustrating because the text is very poorly written. It just rambles on and makes even simple topics unclear. Worst text I have ever had to read. But as for Dr. Wilder he is very helpful and his lectures are very clear.
Overall, he's a pretty good professor. He doesn't use big fancy displays, but he makes the material funny and easy to understand Didn't own the book and still did really well.
Very hard prof.. do not take him he comes in class with his power-point slides..doesnt teach at all.. much his exams are hard as hell.. first exam ..highest score was 42 just think about it class of 500 or more students..that means prof is not teaching right and making exams hard .... DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Stumbled over his words all the time, cracked out on coffee 24/7. Speeds through his incomprehensible slides, so despite the fact they are posted, no human being could make sense of them. Tests are impossible, his wording sucks and he's tricky. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Very hard class, exams are worded in a way that it seems like it can be multiple answers. His lectures are fast-paced and unclear. He is always stumbling around his lecture, horrible, horrible HORRIBLE. Almost impossible to comprehend what he is talking about. Do not take this class unless you have no other choice....
he's an ok professor. exams are kind of tricky though. to do well...read the book AND the slides. half the exam questions are from book and half from slide, not an 'easy' A.
definitely not an easy A. the slides are hard to understand, you have to study that PLUS the book, which is alot of material. the exams are very difficult and worded in a tricky way. although i had an interest in the material it was very hard to pass the class. i spent a lot of time studying and i barely passed with a C.
horrible class...very hard. DO NOT take it! wording of multiple choice questions on exams are extremely tricky. if you take this class, buy the book, go to EVERY class and take notes, pay attention to every detail, watch the videos he shows, and STUDY STUDY STUDY.
I took him for Social Psych and it was the worst mistake! It seemed like he didn't want to be teaching the subject. I dropped the class and never took a class with him again. He is also very hyper and moves around and speaks very unclear!
Funny professor, doesn't take attendance! Tests are pretty tough.
As everybody else is saying, he's a very hyper guy I must agree. The exams are tricky (the way they're worded) but as anyother class, if you study you should do fine. I recomend going to class and writing down the slides he doesnt give you, study those, and reading the book and taking notes while doing that as well. that is what will get you an A.
Funny, awkward, and smart man who is obviously interested in the subject. Go to class, read the textbook, and study for exams. If you think this class is too much work, you shouldn't be in college. Seems unapproachable because he doesn't make eye contact, but responds almost immediately to emails. I really enjoyed this course, strongly recommend!
i am taking this class right now... its hard. dont ever ever take this class . 70 multiple choice questions are extremely hard. im just going to study for my final.. its so hard. dont take this class please
He's funny and generally a nice guy. But, the tests are difficult and the material is pretty ambiguous most of the time.
do urself a favor..STAY AWAY..thank you for not knowing how to teach a course and making exams so difficult that i'm sure even other psych doctors/professors cant pass..waste of time and money. do not take this course
Prof. does not emphasize what will be on exams. Read the book carefully and go over the slides thoroughly and you should be find. Class is not mandatory but there is a clicker. Not hard if you prepare correctly. If you are not good at psychology do not take this course.
Professor Wilder knows his subject, but the way he presents the information is not the most helpful in learning. There was very little student/teacher interaction and he didn't utilize pictures, discussion, and videos deliver the material. To do well, read the book and pay attention to his powerpoints. There are three exams and a paper.
at first i thought he was great; mildly funny, clear and not too boring in lecture, and tests were pretty easy. suffice to say, i got a C+ at the end of the course after only receiving one C (on the first test that i admittedly didn't study for) throughout the entire semester. the rest of my grades were A's and B's. VERY misleading.
Get used to it people; college is hard. Wilder was by far the best professor I have had in psychology.
I took his honors seminar in history of psych and it was one of the best classes I have taken at RU. It was genuinely interesting, without the pressure of memorizing facts for tests, and half the grade was a serious research paper, which taught me so much for grad school, like how to efficiently dig up old primary sources. Highly recommended!
Runnn as fast as you can. He is crazy he goes off on these crazy rants. He is the most ridiculous teacher i have ever had!
Nice guy, tries to teach but is still really confusing. His class isn't hard but the tests are definately tricky and blindside you a little.
Wilder definitely loves Psychology and definitely loves to teach. He is very clear in his lectures and gives great examples to explain the theories. However, as people have mentioned, his exams are quite tricky. He does respond to E-mail, so it's not to hard to contact him. And it's good that he provides extra credit opportunities. Good guy.
this is a great guy and anyone who tells you different is lying...i was in his social psych class and i thought i was going to get a c,but ended up with a b,he puts the slides online but leaves parts out,but most of the info about what you missed in class is in the book..the exams are kinda tricky but i love him and would rec. him to everyone!!!
Honestly, he's a very interesting professor. Everyone is right though, he has tricky exams and his rants are crazy as he moves from one place to another. If you want an easy A, he's not the professor for you.
taking him for history of psych, he's a really nice guy and has loads of energy and personality, but he is sometimes hard to follow when he starts talking about totally random things! never really know what to expect on his quizzes, so you have to basically know everything..not impossible, but not easy either..probably the easiest 400-level though
Had him for social psych. He is funny, tells stories, even draws amusing diagrams on the black board - this guy clearly enjoys teaching! the material is so easy to understand it's basically intuitive, so the class itself isn't hard. He is a passionate professor and he knows his stuff, plus he's understanding, so what more can you ask for?
Rambles about nothing. slips random slides into the powerpoint. doesn't really explain topics and tells you almost nothing that is on the exams...goodluck.
The class isn't too hard. He does deviate the majority of the time, but the guy knows what he's talking about. Exams are pretty straightforward. Go to class to add the extra slides that relate to experiments to your ppt and read the modules and you'll get an A. I received a B cuz I didn't own the book, I got lucky a friend lent me his.
I got a B on the first exam, A on the second, and over 100 on the final exam. I promise that you will do better on each exam. You just need to go to class, take notes, and study!
sort of a confusing class as the material was not that easy. exams were quite challenging but not impossible. pulled off a B in the class by studying the powerpoints and reading the book.
He rambles a lot but tries hard in class to make your time worthwhile with random outbursts and corny jokes. Relatively easy A. This class is worth taking, you will get a better framework of all the different branches of psychology, whose theories are still used and whose are outdated, and how all of them come together.
Wilder is a genius. Probably the smartest professor I have had in four years. He truly loves to teach and cares about learning. Being around someone this gifted is an immense pleasure and a great opportunity for all psychology majors. Exams are challenging so watch out!
Anyone that has great difficultly with this class is either not going to class or on their laptop or phone the entire time and expecting to learn. I am currently in the class and he does his best to make it interesting, I got a B+ on the first exam by reading through the power points and skimming the book. It's really not hard. Definitely take it.
He is not the easiest professor. You have to go to class and fill in the slides and read the book in addition to his slides. But it is doable. Just depends on how much time and effort you put into the class. I got a C in the class but that's what I put into the class so I can't complain.
The class itself is not hard. Very straightforward material. However, the professor makes the class more challenging than it should be. Exams are also quite difficult. On a more positive note, like most classes, the exams seem to get easier as you begin to know what to expect. Most students receive C's in the course.
One of the best professors I've had. He makes class very interesting and is really passionate about the subject. He always answers any questions you have an is more than willing to help you. Tests are really hard, but he gives sample questions and reading the book will easily get you a B.
he is such a nice guy. sometimes starts to ramble, but he really knows his stuff. all you have to do is go to lectures and skim the book for the exams and you'll be fine. i highly recommend this course.
The exams are way harder than they need to be and everyone will agree with me. What kind of question follows answer choices such as answer "A" ,"B ","C" ,"D;Both A and B are correct", or "E; more than two of these answers are incorrect. " I put in a lot of effort and can explain every concept, but these answers are so ambiguous i fee like its SATs
I went to class everyday and took notes while following along with the slides. I would study ahead for the exams but regardless of how well I knew the material his exams were very tricky. The answers would be something along the lines of a. x b. y c. z d. b&c e. not a or c If it weren't for the test format I'm sure I could have done better.
Professor Wilder is hilarious. He's a great professor and I would definitely recommend taking this course. It's not hard as long as you go to class at least once a week, or get someone to do the powerpoint notes for you. He is good at keeping your attention and he's not a buttface with tests, he keeps em pretty straightforward and real.
He is a nice guy but his tests are really hard. I am normally an A student and I am struggling to get a B. I've never missed a class and he puts parts of the PowerPoints on sakai. 3 multiple choice exams of 70 questions and the last is 70 + 20 cumulative. He gives 3 (20 point) stupid assignments that you can do sleeping. He does curve!
He is really funny & made me laugh every class, but his exams are impossible. I studied everyday for 2 weeks, & still couldn't navigate his exams. Multiple choice are made to make you second guess yourself (Options are like: A, B, C, More than one is incorrect, More than one is correct) I feel like I learned a lot, but my exams wouldn't show that.
There are extra credit opportunities given. Go to class because the PowerPoint he puts online isn't similar to the one he uses in class. The ones online lack some info. Decent curve.
You definitely need to attend lecture to do well in class, however, his lecture was always pretty interesting and kept me awake. Some say that his tests are tough, but as you get used to the multiple choice format, you'll improve. I went to class, took notes, skimmed the textbook, and made outlines for the study material. There was also a curve.
Professor Wilder is really funny. His jokes are lame but he really makes the class more interesting in his lectures with them. I enjoyed listening to him during lectures. But his tests are pretty tricky. I thought I'd do better because I understood the content but the questions are tough. Other than that, he doesn't give any other work.
He is eccentric, and enthusiastic during lectures. You need to go to class and supplement with the textbook. The exams cover more than just his lectures. Lectures can be boring sometimes. You can find the textbook online. Would not take the class with him. Take with Killianksi, and save yourself the trouble.
obviously loves the subject and is enthusiastic about it. doesn't take attendance BUT his powerpoints on sakai are missing a lot + to get them you need to come to class. exams are harder than the lectures + take material from the book. he curved fairly well since a lot of people failed exams. you need to read, come to class, and study to do well.
Prof. Wilder is a good teacher. He gives 4 exams, 1 really short paper, and 2 class surveys for extra credit. For exams you really have to study and at least look over the textbook. He's questions are tricky.
Most of the information on the exams are given in class during the lectures. He does omit a bit of the lecture slides when he posts them online, so make sure you really attend class and pay attention! He also has questions on information from the textbook, so it's also important to read. Overall, great class, super fun guy, and not overly difficult
He's a fun guy. Exams aren't too hard, either you know it or you don't. Some questions are based off of information not available on the Sakai slides, so you should go to class. 4 multiple choice exams make up most of your grade. He's enthusiastic about the material and wants his students to succeed. Put in the least bit of effort and you're fine.
Terrible professor exams are extremely unfair. You can study all you want, but there's questions that are meant to trip you up. Get used to multiple choice questions like A, B, A and B all of the above or none of the above.
I liked this guy and enjoyed his lectures. He's lively, friendly, and open to questions. He moves along at a good pace and provides examples from studies to illustrate concepts. His tests are just a tad challenging, but entirely fair, and they don't demand that you remember things needlessly like names of researchers. There's also a curve.
DO NOT take this class with him. His tests are extremely unfair its like he doesn't want his students to succeed. his tests trick you with answers like A, B, C, B and C only, all of the above, or none of the above. this class will wreck your GPA. stay clear.
Professor Wilder was fantastic for Social Psych. He's so animated and funny, and he's really passionate about his field. The lecture material was awesome too, I took this class on a whim as an elective and found myself loving it. Take notes and listen, some of his slides in class arent in the powerpoints he puts online. I'd take him again for sure.
He's alright. He's pretty lively for the most part during lecture. Attendance in my opinion is mandatory. He legit has lectures slides that are NOT posted and it will completely throw you off. He refuses to put those additional slides on Sakai so you spend half the class taking pictures of missing slides. It's annoying. Good pace but keep up frfr.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! he is so boring and ruined my gpa. No textbook, 3 exams, HEAVY EXAMS! his class is so dry. I REPEAT DO NO TAKE THIS CLASS EVER
Professor Wilder likes to give very difficult quizzes, with many trick questions. The good thing however, for History of Psychology, at least, is that he gives a lot of assignments so the grades arent based too heavily on the tests.
I had Prof. Wilder for Social Psychology during the remote pandemic learning, and this was one of my most entertaining courses. This isn't a course you put to the side and hope for the best - you need to watch the lectures to do really well on the exams. His lectures are filled with jokes and are very lively, and he has a great personality overall.
Asynchronous lectures. Very knowledgeable, taught in a clear/easily digestible way, and made lectures fun with ad-lib comments. Assignments are easy (summaries of readings) and tests very fair given you listen to lecture recordings. Definitely could've gotten A if I actually did assignments and did a proper listen-through of the recordings.
Honestly I love wilder as an advisor but as a professor, OOF. his quizzes are so confusing and the lectures are a snooze fest. I had a 4.0 before this class and I genuinely did not understand anything going on. also, he never responds to emails but the good thing is there are a lot of assignments that can boost your grade
This was honestly one of the hardest psych classes I've taken. The quizzes were very, very hard. The only reason I finished with an A was due to getting 100's on all the other assignments (12 reading assignments) and points from the 2 surveys.
The lectures were super interesting but the tests were difficult. I understood all the lectures and took great notes but the exams were still hard. The only reason I got an A was because he curves the grades. I enjoyed taking this class, he is funny but the teams were confusing.
Professor Wilder is probably one of my favorite professors at Rutgers, especially in the Psychology Department. His lectures are not only informative, but he also makes them super entertaining. I took the class asynchronously and still learned a lot. Watch his lectures and you'll be fine. My favorite psych class at Rutgers so far.
He is a really funny professor and its clear that he loves what he does. The exams are in-person and a bit tough if you don't attend lectures. If you put the work in, you'll pass. Theres assignments to boost your grade. There's no quizzes, so it's exam based which sucks.
Dr. Wilder is an awesome, caring professor who genuinely wants you to succeed. Exams are manageable if you attend class and prepare. Those who struggled likely skipped lectures. His exams have no surprises and he provides you with everything you need IN CLASS to achieve an A in his course. I highly recommend him for both this and social psychology.
He rushes through PowerPoint material in lectures and presents different slides in class than the ones he posts online. Exams are hard to prepare for and he does not use the same material posted from study guides. The only thing that might save my grade is the curve at the end of the semester because he knows how difficult the course is!
unnecessarily hard course and professor makes it impossible to know what information is important for exams. If you can take another 400-level course, I would highly suggest doing so.
This isn't a necessarily hard course but the professor is a bad lecturer. Goes off on many tangents and doesn't have a clear train of thought. Also grade is only based on exams, no quizzes or extra credit. Only good part is that he curves at the end of the semester so it might save my grade.
Loved this class; prof was caring and helped us rly understand the material. Class is lec heavy, so if u skip, u probs won't do well. He's funny and uses humor and examples to engage the class, willing to give feedback, and is knowledgeable ab social psych. Material is straightforward for exams and he gives out helpful study guide and practice q's
Dr. Wilder runs a challenging but rewarding class. Lectures are crucial, and the quizzes can be tricky. However, completing assignments and using tools like unstuck study for study prep can help you succeed. Worth taking if you're up for the work.
