This class is so much more stressful than it requires and he's *literally* always on a different page. The material and case studies are interesting, but his ambiguous and unnecessarily long directions combined with his need to blame students if he screws up makes everyone wish for the end. Not to mention, he can take almost a week to respond.
This is one of the most unorganized teachers I have ever had. I am an A-student, and I have never in my life experienced a teacher that blames his poor performance on students like this professor does.
First online class at UAB. The syllabus says to send a message if you have any questions. Its been over a week, no response despite multiple attempts to contact. Phone number listed on syllabus is out of service. Instructions are hard to understand. A class meant to be easy is difficult for no reason.
Terrible experience, you're basically teaching yourself. He uploads lectures from other teachers (???)
Great professor with a passion for teaching. Very funny man with a great sense of style. Tests are moderately hard but just read the textbook. He's not afraid to call on you. Would definitely take again.
Homework is at least 100 questions, while not hard its very tedious. Tests aren't easy. If you miss a single class your grade will go down, and lectures are not very helpful. I wish he would use different slides that had more essential information for exams. Mr. Wilson is a very nice and funny guy and I did fair in this class. Not a bad class.
The exams are online in person, definitely a lot of material you have to understand and memorize but he makes the classes fun and engaging. I will say his exams are hard but if you follow the ppts, youll be okay!
Mr. Wilson is not just a marketing teacher; they are a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration. Their dedication to their students' success is unmatched, and their knowledge is a priceless asset to anyone fortunate enough to be in their classroom. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Wilson to anyone seeking an exceptional marketing education.
Mr. Wilson was a cool instructor. His lectures involved small talk with the class, reviewing the PowerPoints on Canvas, and completing the Marketing Sims on Connect with our teams. His exams weren't too difficult either. He's a pretty chill professor but be sure to complete the Connect assignments before they're due and attend class to pass.
I highly recommend taking his class in person just for the amount of knowledge in the field of marketing that you will receive not just from the material but from the life experiences that Professor Wilson shares with you. He is very engaging and very fair. He covers the material and gives you everything that you need to be successful in his class.
He is an amazing teacher, and I have learned so much from him. He is very understanding and helpful, and I would hands down recommend him to anyone. We watch a bunch of videos in class and then have an open conversation during the lectures, but it's really easy and stress-free.
where do i even start? this man assigns 77 concept smartbooks. the lectures are all slightly confusing and he takes the powerpoints from other teachers. we also watch videos from 1990. on his tests, he puts two right answers and one is "more right" but that is entirely based on his opinion. and i have an A in the class so imagine the ppl that dont!
Dr. Wilson is an outstanding professor with extensive real-world experience, including 30 years at UPS and running a consulting firm. The course emphasizes sales role-playing, so pick a strong partner. If you're looking to gain practical sales experience while learning from a seasoned professional, this is the perfect class!
Wilson does a really good job preparing his students for the sales role play assignments. This class isn't lecture heavy at all.
The best professor by far. He actually makes coming to class so interesting and fun. Paying attention is really important but you will because he is very interactive. I will say his tests are kind of hard but other than that, wonderful teacher.
The class was okay. 3 discussion posts, 3 exams, & weekly assignments due on Monday. No opportunities for extra credit. Not a terrible class, could be better BUT could be a lot worse.
This course is selling heavy, so be ready. You can learn a lot before the assignments by watching the great courses videos, so prepare before your role plays. Listen to the feedback and get better and better.
Responsive, respectful, and engaged. He listens and works with you through the course. Great professor.
Professor Wilson was a very nice and caring professor. Some of his emails were a little hard to understand but he does not mind explaining exactly what he wants. He gives great feedback to our group projects; I would be prepared to be working in a group of 4.
Amazing professor.
The content was not too intense, but be prepared for stout grading on the group projects. Feedback is beneficial.
He is awesome and helpful!
Professor Wilson was not only a remarkable individual, but he surpassed my expectations as an educator.
He's a very fair and engaging teacher. I've taken his class in person before and he actually makes you want to pay attention. The role play assignments in this class are actually pretty interesting and a little fun. It's probably one of the only classes I've taken that I felt actually related to my degree.
The role play assignments were actually fun and engaging. Just make sure you actually read the instructions and what is to be expected from them. Aside from that its a fairly easy class. Just do the work and you'll be fine.
Highly recommend to take
Overall was a good experience. A lot of role-playing activities that really help you get hands on practice with how the selling process works. Professor is super easy to work with if you have any questions, and he responds fast.
The professor was good. Annoying to have to meet with people often but it does prepare you for potential sales calls or even job interviews. Would take him again.
If you are truly considering a sales career, this is the class for you. As a current sales professional, the skills taught in this class align heavily with expectations in the real world. I love how the course content guides through discovering customer pain, aligning with the pain, and overcoming objectives, all while building relationships.
He does a great job of giving feedback for you to improve.
Professor Wilson does a great job at keeping his assignments organized and straightforward. I don't have any complaints regarding that though I highly recommend taking this class in person because I personally feel like I did not get the full experience of taking his professional sales class because it was offered online this summer semester.
I highly recommend taking this class in person if you have the option. I feel like I missed the full experience since I took it online during the summer. I've heard that in-person classes prepare students much better for the sales assignments. I could have performed better on those if I had taken the class in person.
There are many group projects worked out in the same group so it is good if you don't those projects in advanced. The homework is pretty easy too. It's the test that are a bit difficult.
Lots of group projects so it will be good if you do them in advanced.
There is a lot of group work that can get repetitive. Overall the class is not bad but if you do not enjoy group work this is definitely not the class for you.
Very harsh grading
Great teacher that's good at communicating. The feedback is always very detailed and helpful. Just hope you get good partners that will be reliable. Also gives extra credit for completing evaluation form at the end of the semester and giving a rating on here.
Honestly since it was an online class, I don't know much about him. The class was fine though.
He is a good professor. Would recommend and take again.
Overall, this class was pretty straightforward. If you do the work, you'll get a good grade.
The class was very straightforward in terms of learning about professional selling. My favorite aspect in the class was the podcasts. They were so fun to listen to and actually helped me learn. His critiques are very detailed, but, at times, felt impossible to please. A lot of group work so PRAY that you get a good group or it will suck.
Very nice and eager to answer any question or concern! He has clear grading and assignment requirements. Each week has similar assignments that are easy to manage and not overwhelming!
Overall, I really enjoyed this class and feel like I left with a lot of new knowledge. This class is only difficult because I was taking it during the summer online and the group projects are so hard to schedule around everybody's summer activities. I advise taking this class in person.
Very helpful
Great professor. I enjoyed his class, he was always very helpful if any issues came up and always answered emails quickly. We worked with a set group the whole semester, but he made the process as easy as possible and always gave great feedback on our assignments. This is my second time having him as a professor, and I would take him again.
literally doesn't teach. passive aggressive. doesn't prepare students
There are regularly whole lessons where we watch full documentaries that do not relate to course content and requirements. All exams and quizzes are from the book, and the book is never taught from in class. All in person content is based off the sales practices and he grades them too slowly for you to apply the small feedback quickly enough.
We did a lot of application-based learning in this class, and the professor has helpful industry experience that is applicable to what we are doing.
Professor Wilson is the best! He is such a great teacher and I can really tell he is passionate about what he teaches. He inspired me this semester to be more passionate about sales.
bad class, would not recommend, learned nothing truly valuable to my future in sales
He tells a lot of occupational stories that are entertaining and applicable in various situations. He focuses more on the practical side of professional sales through role plays and LinkedIn posts rather than tests and exams. At the end of the day, I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot about sales.
Such a great teacher! I learned so much not only from the textbook and the class, but also from the professor himself. I highly recommend taking this class in person rather than online, as it's much easier to benefit from everything he offers in person.

Professor Wilson is very experienced and knowledgeable in the Professional Selling area. He lectures well but the semester is not lecture heavy. There are a lot of role plays which was intimidating at first but ended up being my favorite part of the class. The midterm and final aren't difficult if you do the review assignment.
Dr. Wilson is clearly knowledgeable about selling; he has 30 years of industry experience and has no problem translating it into his lectures. He is a fairly tough grader, so make sure to stick to the rubrics he gives and to prepare in advance for the role-plays.
Professor Wilson is very knowledgeable in this course. Not only his real-world experience, but the passion for the course makes the class fun and exciting to look forward to.
This was my third time with Professor Wilson, and just like the last two, I only have good things to say. Class is very fun and engaging.
Professor Wilson is the GOAT. There are buying and selling role plays where you go to a breakout room with your group. The first one, you will be nervous, but after that, it starts to get fun. He plays Jazz at the start of class, and it's a vibe. I recommend taking this course because you will learn so much more than just professional selling.
Professor Wilson comes from a business background and his teaching reflects that. He teaches with confidence, wants students to succeed, and prepares you for genuine workforce experience. His Professional Sales Program helped me get my internship and build up my Linkedin. Out of all my courses at UAB, this class is one that added tangible value.
David Wilson is far and away the best professor I've yet had in a sales-related course. He is kind, energetic, understandable, and knowledgable. He truly has a passion for sharing everything he knows from his corporate experiences and helping students improve their sales skills. He also runs the UAB Sales Center, which is another fantastic resource
Really enjoyed the course, enjoyed the professor as well, learned a lot of basic knowledge that I did not know before
I think he was a great teacher, I just had a few missed assignments but he is reall easy if you just do the work which isn't hard at all.
Mr. Wilson is a great teacher. He really cares for his students and wants them to succeed. The lass I took was professional selling. If you attend class and pay attention to his lectures you will be fine. Make sure to put fourth the effort and you will get a good grade for his classes.
Professor Wilson is a fun and caring professor. If you show up and do the work you will have no issues in his class.
Dave is a decent/newer professor to take. You will enjoy how he uses storytelling and brings expertise from his career at UPS into the classroom. The structure of the class is still a work-in-progress and what you do in class/lecture doesn't connect well to the quizzes and exams that you take. If you show up and put in the work, you'll be fine.
When I look at Rate My Professors, people sugarcoat the truth. This course is mainly role plays. You work in a team to create scenarios through four rounds and a final. Communication is crucial. He grades harder each round. He's fair but strict-bring proof if you question anything. Two exams; study textbook definitions and you'll be fine.
Great professor! I really enjoyed this class, especially all the role plays. He broke down each part of the SPIN selling model into different role plays, which made it so much easier to understand and practice step-by-step.
This class is not very difficult, it's just very boring. I think Professors Wilson has good intentions but not great execution. Much of the class is just watching videos and group discussions. The content of this course can be very interesting and useful but the structure of the class made it too repetitive and boring.
Professor Wilson is an excellent instructor. He truly cares about his students and supports their growth. He gives very detailed career prep advice and helpful feedback on every assignment. The assignments were useful & hands-on, and I genuinely learned a lot from this class. I'm grateful I got to take this course and I highly recommend this class!
I loved the class and Professor Wilson is a good professor; however, he can be unfair and seems to forget what was said to or asked of him. He gives great feedback and is helpful. I think I could grow to like him, but this semester left a semi-bad taste in my mouth. Overall, great class and with a some more practice, he'll make a great professor!
One of the best professors I've had at UAB so far. His class is very fun and engaging, and he cares for every students success.
Trust me, the truth. Mostly role plays. You work in a team through four rounds & a final. Communication is key. He grades harder each time. He's fair but strict—bring proof if you question anything. Two exams; study textbook definitions. He discusses only UPS sales & never brings in Medical guests, & he can be a bit rude when issues are brought up.
This class uses a lot of in-class video lectures and group discussions. The assignments are very straightforward and easy to follow. The role plays are simple as long as you stick to the steps he provides. The workload is manageable, but the class can feel repetitive at times.
Very professional and easygoing. Brings lots of energy to lectures and makes discussions fun. Really enjoyed this class.
Professor Wilson is a great teacher. He is clear, patient, and genuinely invested in his students. He explains things in a way that actually makes sense and is always willing to help. His class feels fair and manageable, and you walk away truly understanding the material. I'd highly recommend him.
Professor Wilson was an amazing teacher. He was super relaxed and down to earth, he always wanted the best for every student and would stop at nothing to achieve that. He also ran the sales competitions and was such a good sport and coach to have around. Very happy with the recourses I learned from this class. Highly recommended!
Professor Wilson is a great professor! The role plays are scary at first but he really prepares you for them. It is important to show up to his class and participate.Overall a really nice teacher and I really enjoyed his class.
He's a decent professor, and the roleplays are easy enough, but this class only served to reinforce my belief that a business major inevitably turns you evil and that capitalism must be destroyed.
Professor is very personable.
Prof. Wilson really seems to want what's best for students, but his class has a lot of annoying problems. You are required to post on private social media (linkedin) essentially an ad for a grade, and many of the "lectures" are making us watch youtube videos during lecture time. I like him as a person, but I do not agree with the work assigned.
Enjoyed his 330 class but for 423 it didn't go how I envisioned it. Honestly it felt like we were just learning the same thing over and over each week. He mostly just played videos and asked what we thought about them. Our instructions for assignments were almost always wrong because of them clearly being made by AI.
He is in contention for the best teacher at UAB.
I took Professor Wilson's Professional Selling (MK330) this Fall semester. I can confidently say that Prof. Wilson's class was probably the only one I enjoyed taking at all this semester. It was fun to do SPIN roleplays with my partner and sales group and I enjoyed being able to see the improvements I was making throughout the year. Great professor
A great professor, and would love to take him again!
Mr. Wilson is a fantastic professor, with long time industry experience and the want to share his experiences with a younger generation. A lot to learn from this guy!
Absolutely love
MK 330-2D in person Professor Wilson is a great teacher. He shared a lot of experience from he professional life and he was willing to help with any problem I had. This course gave me a lot of new skills and also great course to meet new people because we worked within the groups adn teams the whole semester. Highly recommend to take this class!
Professor Wilson is a good teacher. Role plays are unique and require a lot of effort, but it is manageable. About 1 homework assignment on an average week.
This course was very insightful and hands-on. His teaching is different than most; he focuses more on sales roleplays to apply knowledge rather than just lectures and assignments. As a student, you do have to prepare a lot and work in a team, and overall, this class really helped with my public speaking and communication skills.
This Professor is an amazing professor, and the class is a lot of feedback and respectful of each person's thoughts.
One of the best courses I've taken since I've been in college! Professor Wilson shares real world experience and his "lectures" are very enjoyable. Course content excited me and I found myself looking forward to class.
Professor Wilson is one of the best instructors at UAB. His professional selling class is practical, engaging, and truly prepares you for real-world B2B sales. Clear expectations, great feedback, and he genuinely wants you to succeed. Highly recommend!!
I had a great experience with Professor Wilson. He explains concepts clearly, connect everything to real-world examples, and actually make the class interesting. He is organized, fair with grading, and always willing to help when you have questions. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend taking his class.
Professor Wilson is an amazing instructor who teaches valuable real-world skills. His lectures are engaging and extremely helpful for role plays and career growth. Quizzes and exams are based on the textbook and not too hard, though studying can be tricky since lectures aren't heavily tested.
Mr. Wilson made the subject of something I wouldn't necessarily find that interesting very fun! I loved the team I was able to work with for our sales role-plays and the immersive experience. 10/10 would recommend.
he is a good professor, hew has a strong backgroudn and experience on sales, so his advice matters and he gives great feedback to improve in the following roleplays.
This class was great!
He's really chill gives honest grades all around seemed like good guy
Personally, it was quite a refreshing and enjoyable class.
Professor Wilson is a really cool teacher because he focuses his class on improving your sales confidence over the course of the semester, and he structures it in a way that shows you the areas where you need to grow/improve in- while still being kind and helpful. Majority of the class is lectures, and then sales roleplays that test your skills.
David Wilson aka a great guy
I loved Dave this semester! I did not think he liked me in the beginning because of my bright blue hair and face piercings. Quickly, he realized I was ready to learn whatever he had to teach me and I became one of his favorite students. The class is heavily based on groupwork. Most of the assignments he uploads have been written by ChatGPT.
Lots of long videos during lectures, Chat GPT made Assignments, and a random partner you work with for the entire semester. His grading is fair, though, and his class did improve my selling confidence.
Tests were created based on textbook information. Textbook mandatory. Funny professor, but sometimes didn't give clear reasoning for point deductions on presentations.
I genuinely enjoyed taking this course. We did a lot of role playing real life selling scenarios, and at the beginning, I was very nervous because I am introverted but I feel like I am leaving this class with a new sense of confidence.
he is a great professor, i would defently take him again, he gives really good feedback on every roleplay.
If you give it your best and pay attention in class, then you will do good.
He is a great instructor with a lot of experience in his field. He will help m you become a better communicator, I enjoyed his class. Tough grader, but easy.
Great professor! Gave me a lot of tips that would be useful in the future
Professor had a few things he could work on.
