I learned a lot from this calss and he is some what interesting to listen to. There was hardly any homework. Easy course But make sure you study for exams.

How could you not get an A. He has a TA do test reviews and she tells you every question that’s on the test.

Its true his TA give you the test answers. For the papers just write what your opinions and you will get an A

AWESOME TEACHER!!! He not only knows about his subject, he is PASSIONATE about it! His lectures are actually interesting to listen to and are well prepared. The class is a piece of cake if you listen to the lectures and do the reading (which isn't long at all.) I strongly recomend this teacher!

A very good man. he truly cares about what he teaches. his lectures are actually fun to listen to. He made me like history for a semester. His tests can be challenging but passable with a good grade. I totally recommend him.

Best History teacher I have ever had. Went into his class dreading the thought of having to take a semester of dates memorization, but he brought it to life.

Dr.Wilson is the most knowledgeable history professor @ UVSC! Dr.Wilson teaches things not taught in U.S. public schools. Known as being anti-white, which he's NOT, he teaches factual history. He doen't teach made up, candy coated stories from public school textbooks. He is very passionate about teaching and will do anything to help you succeed!

I loved this teacher, he was so fun to work with and learn from. He makes the subject come alive. I want to take more of his history classes just for fun. I strongly reccomend this teacher.

He is an excellent teacher. He gives you the questions you need to know on the tests. He is very passionate about history and knows it well. He is very funny and may come off as mean but he isn't. I really like taking his class, no lecture was ever boring.

Chief Wilson is the coolest teacher at UVSC. I went from dreading history to loving it. I may even take some of his other classes even though I don't need to take them for my major. Take this teacher, you deserve to learn and have a laugh while doing it.

His class was the funnest class that I have ever taken at UVSC. He may come off a bit strange, but he is a very passionate teacher. He really knows and loves his material.

Dave is the man! He is SO theatrical/dramatic in presenting his lectures that you can not help but bust out laughing! He makes history so much fun. I even took his upper division history classes even though I am not a history major. He is passionate about history. He is a great teacher as well as entertaining...probably the best teacher at UVSC!

Dave has the ability to develop a deep conviction for what he teaches and that conviction transfers to students.

If you have time to take a class from him, take one of his native american history classes. Easily in the top 3 at the school.

This class is note-intensive, if you take good notes and study THOROUGHLY, you can do quite well in this class. He's a bit liberal, he teaches you just about the complete opposite of what you've been taught your whole life, but he knows hsi stuff. He gives you a note-taking guide which is a complete lifesaver. Take his class, he's pretty funny 2

Great teacher. Very passionate about the topic. Lectures are interesting and he covers everything on tests.

he is a good teacher. explains well. some of his tests r unexplained somewhat. but if u go to class, take good notes, and turn papers in on time u will get a good grade.

Only complaint is he likes to put heavy focus on a few obscure pieces of history in order to promote his liberal agenda in class. It's bearable though and he makes up for it with his lectures. Very knowledgeable, interesting, and entertaining. His syllabus is a note guideline broken down by date, I don't know how you could fail a test. Reccomended.

I haven't completed the course, yet, but I think it is safe to say that if you want to have a better experience for your History general course, take Dr. Wilson's course. He absolutely loves what he does and makes History more interesting that I could ever imagine. He expects you to study (duh), and gives you a study guide. I recommend him 100%

This teacher is amazing!! he is very very passionate about what he teaches and he loves it when you seem interested! tests arent hard,... but for some reason I never did so great on them and I studied!! But i highly recomment this class anyhow!!

Really great teacher!! Life Changing! expects a lot form you, but he is very student friendly! He really knows the subject matter, and will teach you LOTS of new and useful material. He applies all the history we learn to the present. Best History Prfessor I've ever had!

David is crazy he is really funny. The tests are really hard he isn't very clear. It was an interesting class and the book was cheap! You have to go everytime for his lectures and you have to read a lot but its easy reading.

Very interesting class. I had no prior knowledge about race and minority relations before taking his class. The tests are really hard and difficult to study for, but if you do the work you'll earn a good grade. He's really entertaining and willing to hep students. I recommend him!

Fun and intelligent teacher. The projects he assigns are not hard, but they do have a purpose. Tests are not as hard in the upper 3800 courses if you attend class and pay attention (its not hard to pay attention to his awesome lectures). Note taking guides are given, making study time very easy. He is very willing to help. Highly recommended! :D

He is awesome, but you gotta read.

He was always gave interesting lectures and could give tons of information to answer random questions. The tests were pretty easy if you read the book and followed the guide. Make sure you take it with you and follow along and you'll be fine!:)

He is hilarious! I love his class because he makes it fun and wow you learn different new perspectives on history. I put a chili pepper cause he said he's been working out alot (you're welcome wilson!).You need to read the chapters and use the study guide it kills you on tests if you don't do them. its not hard at all.

I liked him a lot. Hes funny and i dont understand how some people are failing his class. if you go to class and follow the study guide and read the chapters then youll do good. he grades on a curb so if you get a lot of your dumb friends to take the class youll do even better.

I am a psychology major so being that this class is a cross referenced class (history and sociology) it was not quite what i expected. However, this was one of the most interesting classes i have taken in my million years at uvsc. David Wilson is very very intelligent and passionate about the subject matter..so you cant help but enjoy the class!:)

L-O-V-E-D this class! Take this class for your required history class. Dave is a very FUNNY teacher and actually makes history INTERESTING! People say his tests are hard, I only say that if you DON'T study for them. You WILL HAVE to read the text, but it's a GREAT text. You WILL HAVE to take notes in class so bring a recorder if you write slow!

Great class!! Losts of reading from the book but its the "idiots guide to american history" so it was extremely easy plus he gives study guides to go along with the text. No homework just tests. He grades on a curve so you don't want to take the test and help others on it. Very funny and interesting i actually enjoy going to class!

MY FAVORITE TEACHER! He is so funny. He mostly lectures but really it's like hes just telling really entertaining stories. Attendence dosn't matter but I would never miss a class becuase it was fun. The tests were all the notes and reading...so just take notes.And he will give you a study guide with everything you need to know. 8 THUMBS UP

Great teacher! He really likes history and makes it interesting. You do have to read the textbook. There's only 4 test that are multiple choice. He's funny also. You should totally take history from him!

His class is actually interesting as compared to other teachers. David is a witty, funny, dweeb type. I find my self laughing in his class most every lecture. As long as you follow his study guide which is a cake walk you'll get a good grade, but you actually learn too. Not too many teachers make a class easy, entertaining and have it useful.

This was a gereat class! David Wilson keeps things interesting. I generally don't enjoy history but he kept things interesting. It was a bummer to miss his lectures. There is a lot of reading involved but if you do what your supposed to it shouldn't be to bad. Also he gives you a study guide with the test questions... I give him a thumbs up.

Took his summer class, which is different than his regular fall/spring. Reading and essays ensued. More emphasis on concepts rather than memorizing names and dates. Wilson was a rather entertaining teacher and I would recommend taking him.

Wilson is a great teacher! He loves what he teaches, and is very intelligent. Make sure you read the text or else you'll miss a lot of questions on the test (the questions are half from the lecture, half from the text). Wilson is funny, and willing to help whenever you need it. PLUS he give extra credit points out like cannndaaay.

wilson is the shizzzz! so funny this was my favorite class. he wants you to do well and get a good grade. provides a study guide that you can fill in as you go and all the test questions come from that study guide. and if you take the test on time...automatic 10 bonus points. take this class for sure hes dope!

Very witty. He picks a detailed, but inexpensive book for the class. The lessons are full of information and participation in comments and questions are expected. He knows how to make the class interesting and exciting. My Top Recommendation for a History 1700 Professor.

He swears sometimes& that was on thing that bugged me. write down ?s from syllabus before class& answer them during lectures. tests aren't bad at all just know the stuff gives lots of ex. credit& curves tests

Jk...this is just an inside joke that Prof. Wilson says in class but really he does care for everyone even though it is a huge class (over 100 students at beginning of semester) & he makes the class easy to pass as long as u go to class, fill out the study guide & read the short chapters. Professor Wilson is a great teacher. His class is fun and very informative. His tests are good. Take the class from him. I learned more about history this semester than any other history class, EVER!! Attentance is not require but important as the test is half from the notes. Grades on a curve and is fair about his grading

He wants every one to think he is very intimidating, but he is very funny, and if you ask for help he will gladly help you. Do your reading, study for the test (don't cram) talk to the him if you need extra help, and you should do well.

Dr. Wilson is one of the best professors on campus. He is very passionate about history and makes class fun! You can always stop by his office for advice and he answers his emails. This is one professor you must take a class from before you graduate!

Dr Wilson is absolutely one of the best History Teachers I have ever had. He loves what he's teaching, he know current topics and really cares for his students. You'll have 4 tests, and just for taking them in the testing center you get an extra 10 points. He raises everyones grades at the end of the semester. But you DO need to read the text book

Great teacher, alot of talk towards being hard but is a bit of a softy. take good notes in class and you should do fine although some of the reading comes in handy. Ca go off in a tangent if prompted enough and loves Indians. he hates when people are late and missing class really only hurts yourself.

I took the summer course and the 1st day of class he was intimidating! he let us know even tho it was a summer class he was going to get 3 credits from us. that made several dropout but he lightened up. very interesting lectures! The hw was long and boring but the tests weren't too bad. Very generous on the over all grade. go to class, take notes!

Prof. Wilson is awesome. I like history, but I think history classes themselves are dull. He made it so interesting. I went everyday and enjoyed every minute there. He is very passionate about this subject and will challenge you in discussions. I didn't read any of the readings. I took notes only and barely studied. But I got an A.

Funny but highly sarcastic. The workload was actually pretty heavy because we were working on a project he's trying to set up. However, he was willing to postpone deadlines if needed. Overall I thought he was pretty awesome. Probably wouldn't suggest if you're easily offended or sensitive.

LOVED this class. I can tell he loves History, and he makes it enjoyable for everyone to learn. He's not all uptight, boring, and musty like other History professors. He is hilarious! And his assignments are interesting and fun, though not always easy :P No textbook, and he had us watch movies a lot. Fun class and I recommend him to anyone.

I use to hate history but i absolutely love it now. He makes history fun and totally knows what he is talking about! If you take history, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT FROM HIM!!

He is an average history teacher. If you love Native American history then take him. He is funny and does make class interesting. You watch a ton of movies but you have to write a 2 page paper on each which gets really annoying. Overall i'd recommend him but if you want a class that you can just breeze by i'd look for another professor.

Anyone who says Professor Wilson isn't help doesn't know what they are talking about. If you attend class, do the few essays assigned, and take the tests before the last day...he is MORE than willing to help you out. He tries to be intimidating at first but by the end of the semester you learn he is a total softy. Best History professor by far.

Professor Wilson seems so intimidating at first, and even throughout the semester, but he's really not. He grades easy, and gives extra credit if you take the test before the last day. I got a far better grade than I probably deserved.

He has a tendency to get behind because he takes extra time explaining some things. However, he does not penalize the students in any way because of this. Knows the subject matter incredibly well, and also knows that history is difficult to test/measure. Uses technology better than most teachers. Does not allow student laptops. I Highly recommend.

Wilson is a great guy! I had a Problem with my grade and I sent him an email and he changed it within a few days. he gets behind but thats because he is really passionate about history so he gets side tracked with really cool stories, a must have for Hist 1700

Wilson is a funny guy, very sarcastic though. He definitely has a different teaching style! He has a quiz before every class, a couple of letters(essays about documentaries) and 4 tests. Lots of reading out of the textbook (which sucks) and the tests are hard. If hist. comes easy to you take him, if not, I wouldn't recommend his class.

He is no easy A. You will have to read the entire textbook thoroughly to consider getting an A. Don't take his class if you're a bum. If you wanna learn history, I recomend him anyday. He's really passionate.

This class is no joke. It is HARD. Don't get me wrong though I thoroughly enjoyed Wilson's lectures. You have 4 exams including the final. Half is material in the book, half from his lectures. But tests are only 30 ?'s. Which means you really need to know your SHIZ to make sure you're covered.

David's lectures are amazing. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will miss alot if you dont go. Yes, there are lots of quizzes, letters, tough exams, and lessons about Natives. But the movies are interesting, quizzes/exams are easy if you do the reading and study guides, and he hung out with real Souix chiefs. This class is worth all the effort.

Good lectures, better reading list. You won't find another guy west of the Mississippi who knows as much about Cheyenne history as he does. Take his class, do the readings. If you take a morning section, be sure to get as caffed up as he is beforehand. It WILL help you.

This class may seem hard and requires consistent work, but I think its worth taking if you want to learn. Quizzes are easy,essays which he calls letters are based of movies required for the class, I didnt do too well on the tests yet I came out with a B, enjoyable teacher, with lots of passion

Piece of cake. What helped me was prior history classes from HS. Fun teacher who thoroughly enjoys what he teaches.

David may seem a bit intimidating and off-the-wall at first, but he's very passionate about this stuff and knows what he's talking about. Once you get used to his way of thinking and teaching, the class is actually pretty enjoyable.

Top 3 professors of all time that I've had. He is passionate, hilarious, and inspiring. Best organized class I've ever taken, just check the electronic syllabus on canvas daily and you know what's on the test. I planned to drop before the semester started, that changed after the first day when I decided to give him a chance first. No regrets.

Best teacher I had in a very long time.

Everything is on canvas- quizzes, tests, and the "letter" essays we have to write every once in a while. Extremely organized and clear with what he wants. Also very strange as a person, but that's just another thing which makes this class interesting. You might go in feeling intimidated, but the feeling is unnecessary and the class is worth it!

All quizzes, tests, and essays are online. His class actually is interesting. He is a cool guy. He responds back SO fast. TA sessions help. I recommend this class. Do the assignments and you will be fine!

This man is a riot! Expect a good hour of jokes and fun facts about history. He's really good at just giving you what you need to know, and some of the more interesting items. He is not a professor who does filler work. BEST CLASS OF MY SEMESTER!

He is very intelligent and widens your horizons on American history. Says things about history that need to be said! I would recommend taking his class, however, he is not always respectful of every single student.

David is an awesome teacher! He's very clear and even gives you notes to study with for your exams. All you have to do is go to class and listen to his hilarious lectures to fill out the study guide. He had a class of 400 people crying from laughter over HISTORY. Extremely good class to take.

Great teacher, really cares about the students enjoyment. Lectures are amazing and he is like a walking encyclopedia. All of the assignments are on Canvas and there are a lot of little quizzes and three big ones but are all really easy if you read or half way pay attention in class.

One of the funniest men I have met. He knows his stuff and presents everyday like a performance. He really cares about the students .He got a heart attack and still recorded lessons from the hospital to give lectures! The guy is great Highly recommend this class !!

I took this class over the Summer. This class was pretty easy. Professor Wilson is one of the funniest guys. He know his stuff and he is passionate about it. He requires you to read a bunch of books, and submit 5 questions concerning the chapters assigned. The tests are online on Canvas and are based on the reading and your notes.

He is very passionate about the subject matter. He can be offensive and highly critical of the society of the time, but it is a VERY easy class. Homework and tests are online, the essays make you think but are relatively short, and the textbook is cheap. If you get offended easily, don't take, but really very easy

Absolutely amazing!! I LOVED going to this class! I wished it was everyday! For once I didn't mind paying so much for my education. He is really amazing and teaches a history class like no one else! I 100% recommend!

Really great lectures that capture your attention for the entirety of it. Great material and a good perspective. Material in quizzes and tests, as well as essays cover the book and lectures in class so you should never skip. He's a great professor for someone who's going to give you a challenge and make you stretch, learn, and grow.

I loved Prof. Wilson!! He was hilarious and his lectures were awesome. The class wasn't too hard; do the work and you will pass. He made a one of my worst subjects in school interesting. The only thing you are graded on is three short papers ("letters") and the midterm and final. I would definitely take him again!!!

He was an awesome teacher and you can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches! The two tests we had were online and were 1 minute per question, but they are open-book and open-internet so if you take good notes or are a fast typer you're set! There were three easy essays and he lets you know way ahead of time, and the grading isn't hard.

His lectures are very interesting and make history come alive. He doesn't lecture from the book though. You have to read the book on your own. Tests come from lectures, readings, and movies he has you watch. He also has three writing assignments. There aren't many assignments so each one if heavily weighted. He's blunt, and seems rude sometimes.

Dr Wilson was an incredible professor! I loved his class! I mentioned that I had considered switching my major to anthropology and he took special interest in me and really helped me figure out if that was the right path for me. His lectures were fun and exciting because he loves what he does. He can be sarcastic and funny. Class was always fun.

David is HILARIOUS! you just can't get offended by him. He's kind of super obsessed with native americans... so be prepared for that. tests are hard and attending class is a must! but its worth it because he's entertaining. He really loves and cares for his students, but also messes with them. He also really likes to say "BUSTED!" You were warned.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He's so passionate about it and he makes connections to present-day issues to see why it matters. He's hilarious, but if you're easily offended he's not the guy for you. You know exactly what you have to do for the whole semester from the syllabus. If you do all the reading and come to class, youll pass.

David is amazing. For one of the two letters we had to write, I had to send him a selfie and tell him about myself. Tests are timed but you could use your notes. Be sure to do a buddy system when taking these tests. If both of you write good notes just take the test as 2 for one of you and then repeat. EZPZ.

Easiest class ever. All assignments are open note so as long as you take notes in class, you're golden. He is a bit unorganized but way funny and it's an easy A. I don't care much for history but this class is a breeze so it makes it bearable. He is also super passionate about what he teaches which is nice.

We were able to take the final as a group. Class was entertaining and he really applied everything to the big picture. He's a true inspiration.

Great Guy

He was a very good professor. However, towards the end of the semester he had to leave. We got a new professor and that was very difficult as the semester was ending and the new professor had totally different expectations.
