Good, clear lab instructor. Very fair on tests. Gives terms for test before. Willing to answer all questions completely.
He was very fair and explained his notes very well.If you study his notes you will pass all the tests.I enjoyed his class very much and would recommend him to other students.
He is fair, but you do have to study. The course is not easy, you will need to study. He gives extra credit quizes which helps. You will get use your memorizations skills, especially in the second half of the course.
Hard teacher but does his best to make sure you understand the material. You do need to study and attendance is mandatory and all in all, I had a blast in his class.
This guy teaches at the grad level when this is only a beginners class. If you normally get A's, you will barely get a "C". he goes off on tangents that are irrelevant, and tests you on subjects that are not in the textbook or things that he did not cover in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!
I totally agree with the previous poster. I usually get pretty good grades and I got a C in his class. He does teach like he is a grad school professor. His class was very frustrating for me. His notes were totally different than his tests. My advice is also DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
I thought Mr. Wingfield was a very good professor. He class was difficult but I didn't except micro to be easy. I would recommend taking him. Alot of material he covers but it is interesting and at times he curves the tests.
I had him for lab, he was very clear and straight forward. I would take him again. Love this guy!
I had him for lab was very clear and helpful! It was a great class and awesome teacher, I strongly recommend him for MCB 1032 Lab!
Difficult class during the summer. Most importantly is attendance he teaches from notes not book and doesnt test material he doesnt go over in class. Only grades are quizes which are extra credit points and tests which he might curve and always has percise study guides. Lab is the same. Not an easy class but he is good teacher.
He is extremely helpful and loves Microbiology. He gives study guides for the tests and material is from the lecture.
"Never studied harder and learned less," is the adage for this class. You'd do better to memorize the book. His attitude towards his outline/syllabus is basically dismissal (i.e.? We will get to that later" or "We already went over that.") Since you're willing to spend your time taking this class, get a good professor such as Jacobson or Whitlock.
Had Mr. Wingfield for lab. Very knowledgeable, very helpful. Willing to speak to you separately if you have any concerns what-so-ever. Wish I had him for lecture. He's a great, passionate teacher for this subject and only wants his students to do well.
Very helpful in Lab. One of my most enjoyable classes. I recommend his lab class completely. It was very helpful with lecture. Thorough and fair. Gives answers to quizzes/tests after they are collected, allowing you to know and learn from your mistakes immediately. Thus the learning from your mistakes is immediate and in my view very beneficial.
I like Mr Wingfield a lot. I took him for A&P Lab and he was really helpful. He would go beyond to help any student. He's one of the best but very rare teacher. The class itself is a little hard and you have to study but you'll get a reward when you do so. Very fair when it comes to grading. I'll take him again.
Had him for Micro lab. He is a nice man but he teaches lab as if the students were grad students when really it's a beginner's micro lab course. Don't take this class if you haven't taken a lab course before because you will get lost in the lab practicals. He instructs the lab practicals quickly and unclear.
Awesome professor, I had him for both lecture and lab. Gives extra credit quizes the class before an exam. Gives comprehensive study guide for the exam which basically gives you the questions, you just have to look up the answers. The lab was fun and I learned a lot. The lab quizes were really easy also.
Hard, all you do is listen, look at power points then work on answering questions in his study guide that covers 7 chapters...he posts his power points before the test only. Tough class if you dont do well just reading the entire book then dont take him,
Awesome professor. Extremely fair and makes the class interesting. He is fair with his grading and likes to see his students excel. Simply awesome. I highly encourage taking him if possible.
THIS IS NOT AN EASY A....you gotta work for it. There are 4 test each on 5 or 6 chapters. He is very helpful though.he goes off of power point, but he won't post it til closer to the exam date.he gives study guides. Again not super hard if u put in the work. In lab u have skills test, id unknowns, and a final practical no extra credit there....
Take him for MCB1000L. Not a easy class but he does help with question. When he's giving instruction though it can be very confusing.I would reccomend him though.
This class is not an easy subject but he is an easy going professor & makes it easier to understand. He gives bonus quizzes that make a huge difference in grading. Like w/ ANYthing, you get out what you put in. His tests are easier than other professors. I would recommend him!! He's understanding & helpful!
He is a great teacher but he is very specific on his test. He gives us the study guides but you have to study
HE IS SO CONFUSING! He talks as if we already know everything he's teaching. He's very clear but doesn't explain what he's teaching. YOU HAVE TO RELY ON YOUR TEXTBOOK. He's only good for questioning. I do not recommend this class with him.
D.Wingfield is a great Microbiology teacher, very proffesional, helpful, he is a real microbiologist and loves his profession, he gives opportunities to get extra points with quizzes. He is a high quality and amazing professor and the best for microbiology class at HCC.
Don't recommend this class over the summer term. He strictly teaches off power point. No h/w, just random quizes for E.C. & Exams. He provides a study guide for exams, but doesn't help much. However, he is a very nice professor & will take the time to explain any questions.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. he is super confusing. very mono-toned and just reads off PPT. Grade consists of 4 tests (hard) and he gives 4 quizzes as extra credit points toward test. i would not recommend taking him. he expects you to know and understand everything and doesn't break anything down. Many people withdrew from the class before semester ended.
Microbiology is no walk in the park, but Professor Wingfield was very knowledgeable and answered all questions in a friendly manner. Only 4 exams total & 4 quizzes for some well earned extra credit. Had him for Micro Lab also, would recommend him highly, he was always professional & a very nice person.
He is a very nice guy but when it comes to teaching you have to rely on the book and power points heavily. His study guides do not help at all!!! There is a lot more information on the tests that are not mentioned on the study guide. Your grade is made up of 4 tests and the 4 extra credit quizzes he gives the day before the test.
I took this class with anatomy, and for sure this class is the hardest one between both. Mr. Wingfield is a very nice person and responds all the questions, but he only reads the power points, and that is not enough to study, you need to rely in you textbook and find the rest of the info online, if you want to pass. there are 4 tests and 4 quizes.
Took Anat./Phys lecture and lab with him. Very boring and dull lectures, just flips thru power points, gets off topic every now and then. Lab test are very hard, fill in the blanks, lots of memorization. Lecture test are about the same except multiple choice with tricky answers. Drops your lowest exams and gives extra credit. BUY THE LAB MANUAL!
In the beginning I thought wow this is boring he just reads from the PowerPoint.. What is he even talking about? BUT you can not sugar coat anatomy and the molecular level of the body!!! READ the chapters, he answers any and ALL questions. He provided us with a study guide of ALL the things on the tests. DO The extra credit 4 percent boost !!
I took him for A&P, it is definitely a very difficult class and takes up a lot of time for studying. Do his study guides before tests and study study study them!!! I used the book a lot too to go over things from the study guide. Do extra credit as well!! I got an A in the class but I definitely had to work fo it. He is very helpful with questions.
Do not take! Very hard! His study guides for exams be over 300 pages! No matter how much you study, you would have to memorize the book to receive an A! He gives immediate feedback though.
He's so worried about cheating that he doesn't give you enough time to take the tests. Not to mention the quizzes that have 2 attempts to help you see what you need to study the questions change the second time you take it. AND its rare for any of the quiz questions to be on the tests!
Reads off PowerPoint often gets off topic,
Dont both taking him! All he does is read off the powerpoint, always gets off topic. Even in Lab theres nothing really creative or fun that helps you.
I took Professor Wingfield for Anatomy/Phys 1. I would recommend him to anyone willing to take the time to study. This is not supposed to be an easy course. Wingfield is attentive, lectures entire class, and is eager to answer questions.
Overall he was excellent! I learned a lot and still remember some of the materials. I will recommend him. His extremely helpful his exams are exactly what he teaches if anything finding ways to study is more harder then the exams because of the chapter load but he gives study guides I'd advice to go to him for help on how to plan yr study.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR THIS CLASS, he is a micro major not anatomy and physiology. His study guides do not help with any of the exams so there i no need to do it, its better to just read the whole book than listen to his lecture. The in class and online quiz's are never on the exam. He does not seem very interested in what he is teaching.
Professor Wingfield is probably the best professor I've taken! You are graded on 5 tests and 12 quizzes. He drops one test and two quizzes and he also has extra credit quizzes online for every chapter. He is funny, easy to talk to, and makes sure that his students dont get discouraged if they are having a hard time in the class.
He wasn't the most exciting teacher, but he does a good job. A&P I takes A TON of studying, but he's good about telling you what you need to know for exams. Online quizzes and extra credit are very helpful. He drops 1 out of 5 exams. Reading the book helps but you can skip around to the stuff he tells you to know. I would take him again.
Mr. Wingfield is a very good teacher. As long as you do your homework and study for the quizzes you will pass his class. Very fair when grading labs. His syllabus has all the due dates for quizzes and homework. At the end of the course, he will drop you 2 lowest quizzes and lab grades.
He's a great guy, but his class is really hard. Don't take this class if you have other intense classes. I learned a lot, but I had a hard time in the class because of my course load. Be ready to study, do the quizzes on Canvas, and take detailed notes. He'll mark the most important slides, but he mostly just reads from PowerPoint.
This class was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. The whole class was a lecture from beginning to end the exams were 60+ questions and YOU MUST MEMORIZE THE BOOK TO PASS!
Professor Wingfield is one of the best instructors at Dale Mabry. I definitely recommend him. This class is very hard you have to study and memorize a lot, but he will give you a study guide that really help. If you don't understand ask for help this professor really care. Do not procrastinate do your homework be strong you can do it!
Great Professor but I think it's the class, in general, that's hard. A lot of learning, memorizing, reading, and critical thinking. He reads off powerpoints but has breaks in between in case students lose focus. He asks the class to ask him if there is anything you need to clarification on so make sure you ask him questions!
You will have more than one chapter due at a time. Lots of quizzes, you can expect at least three quizzes per chapter and a unit quiz over all three chapters, then a chapter test. Powerpoints are good but they only match the material from the quizzes, not the chapter test. The study guides I did not find useful at all but he gives you one per unit.
This class is very difficult and requires a lot of studying. His test reviews are very helpful, but you can't solely rely on his lectures and reviews. I found that reading the textbook chapters myself and taking my own notes helped me tremendously. He's always willing to answer any questions you have and is very nice and respectful as well.
Professor Wingfield is the BEST anatomy teacher at HCC!!! He truly cares and gives VERY clear instruction on what to study for. If you are a student that doesn't read ahead before lecture and blows it off til the last minute you will NOT do well. MUST READ CHAPTER & POWERPOINTS!!!! He is the BEST anatomy lecture and lab professor to take.
All he does is read power points and hardly talks about things on the exams.
I would rather run a mile barefoot over Lego's than ever take a class with this professor again. You have to memorize the whole book. He does not give you enough time on exams for how many questions there are. Does not make the class fun. You can't see what questions you got wrong on exams to even fix your mistakes or to learn from it. Don't do it.
I took online class lecture & lab online & I learned that A&P I is really tough. It's tougher when you do it online because you have to read 90-140 slides. His quizzes and self quizzes are not in the unit exam and his final exam is composed with questions from unit exams so beware! He reply to my emails fast and he is willing to help if you need
He is a great guy. Lecture is slightly monotone. do not take first thing in the morning and you will be ok. he gives lots of extra credit and is great when you need extra help.
Taking A&P 1 with Prof. Wingfield. His lectures are atrocious. He jumps around from topic to topic, and instead of covering material that is important he will say "I'm not even going to cover this, because it is simply rope memorization on your part for it." So he will skip important beginning information and literally lecture on bigger aspects.
I feel like he means well because he says that he makes his grading system to where even if you aren't a good test taker that you can still get a good grade. This is false. He not only goes through lectures super fast but he will jump around your questions as if hes answering them and then answer what he thinks is the question. Must teach yourself!
Taking one of Professor Wingfield exams is equivalent to playing pictionary with Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. The answer would be polish, and the question on the exam would be "What do Marie Curie and sausage have in common?" He thrives on trick questions, and is quite proud when he announces a class average for an exam is 69. Awful.
Isnt a bad guy, just an awful professor. Many people withdrew or dropped this class within the first month. Exams are HARD and full of trick questions, they also cover 3 or 4 chapters at a time. Quizzes are online, having your notes from class and an open book in front of you, you will still only get 8 out of 10 questions right. Do not take him.
Would not recommend him. Lectures are pointless if you are going in to class with little to no knowledge of what he is talking about because he does not elaborate on topics, just merely reads from slides. Exams and quizzes are extremely difficult to pass.
One of the best professors I've taken. He makes reviews for all his exams and goes over them in class to make sure we all understand all the material. He answers emails very quickly and is accessible outside of class. He drops 1 exam grade and 2 quiz grades, and the textbook isn't mandatory but I found it helped me greatly. Makes class interesting.
It's a hard class, mainly due to the subject itself. There are 5 tests and 10 quizzes. Your lowest test and 2 lowest quizzes are dropped. Mainly uses powerpoint slides, a few dissections. Model heavy. He is accessible during his office hours, allows you to review models, always there to help. One of the best professors for anatomy! Study a lot.
Took H&A 2 online. Lots of projects. Pretty easy except for the quizs at the end of the class which gives you a limited time to answer them which lowers your grade if done poorly.
The class is really hard, but he is a nice professor, will help if needed.
Lots of reading but as long as you study and use repetition you will pass this class, but he makes understanding anatomy easy! He explains things thoroughly and if you need any help he'll offer it.. hes such a nice professor I loved having him and don't think I would've understood anatomy if I didn't take him.
Where do I even start?! Lectures are a drag. He just reads off the slides and each chapter has on average 85+ slides!! Exams are hard even for multiple choice. About 80% of my class struggled with his lecture class. For his lab, you are completely on your own. Does not fully explain how to do anything. NEVER AGAIN FOR ANY CLASS!
Amazing professor, explain very good and very gentle. He always answer the questions and makes sure that you understand.
Prof. Wingfield is very nice and always receives you with a smile. You can tell that he is very passionate about his teachings but it does lead him to read and explain too fast for a mind to comprehend. TAKE NOTES on the PowerPoint and pearson's study guide. There are random graded end of class group work so try not to miss class. Remember: STUDY!!
Didnt thoroughly explain much
Be ready to have a lab every other week as well as a quiz, however the quizes are not due until the end of the semester. There are 12 labs and quizzes. The labs are pretty long and require you to be very specific. There is a urinalysis lab, kidney lab, heart lab, etc. He gives feedback and replied to emails fairly quick. No final/midterm exams.
Only way I passed his class was by using the study guide and studying WAY more than i needed. His study guide is good but very vague. His tests have some things he barley touched upon in class and said we didn't need it, but yet it was on the test. Definitely study more than you need! Overall good professor
He is not willing to help you he questions your study instead of just helping you when your confused or need a little bit more elaboration on a topic. He doesnt have a study guide for the final I asked him for one hes like oh no I dont think so I will try to find one and if I do Ill post it like what??NEVER AGAIN!
Very textbook heavy. He basically just repeats what's in the book. His study guides are literally just the definition words on each chapter. He barely teaches and gets defensive at times when asked questions. EXAM/QUIZ HEAVY. No extra credit. Strict about attendence. Overall, not a great professor. Wouldn't recommend.
I took professor Wingfield first, for my microbiology lab, then again for my human A&P II lab. The microbiology lab was taught at the school and was very hands on, but he was very helpful. For A&P II lab the course was online with no book necessary and was easy to understand. Would def take him again. Great teacher!
People may give professor Wingfield poor reviews after taking A&P as they felt his class was hard. However, this is not due to professor Wingfield himself but rather that A&P is a very difficult course. If you study use his study guides and put the necessary effort in you can get an A. I recommend making flashcards using the study guide & quiz q's.
Took his class online. The syllabus was very clear. Lab report and quiz every week. Overall, he is a great teacher. I've learned a lot!
I basically had to teach myself, he helps you with any questions, but if you don't put any effort don't expect to pass. He gives study guides, however, he doesn't tell you what you specifically need to know about that topic so you have to study more than whats going to be on the exam. He has quizzes due before every test, that u can take 2 times.
I do not recommend him. Awful professor. He just reads off of a 100+ powerpoint the whole class period and goes through the lecture super fast. I pretty much teach myself. Exams are hard. Not one student got a 100% on the exams. The class average is about a 60%.
dont do it, just dont.
I had him for A&P II L n I loved it! I liked how direct he was with the power points & study guides, I never really had to work much for the info as long as I payed attention in class & went over the study guide beforehand to prepare for that days test. No homework, few grades but he makes it easy. If you're actually there in class, you'll pass.
Professor Wingfield was a good lab teacher. He would always explain what we had to do and if we had a project or anything worth a big piece of our grade he would prepare us for it. Definitely pay attention and go to class if you have lab in person! If you want to pass don't miss class, & Ioved how we always got out early if we finished everything.
Professer Wingfield was awesome! I took him for anatomy 1 lab and I will be taking him again for A&P II lab and lecture. The bad reviews are not from his error. He teaches well, students just have to apply themselves to the material. Anatomy is hard but with a great teacher it isn't so bad.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS . He is a hard grader, his study guides are very misleading, what you study for is not on the exams!
Professor Wingfield makes his class entertaining. The lab reports are not difficult at all. He explains everything very well in his videos. If you have questions, he responds quickly and tries to help you. The quizzes are easy if you read all the information he provides and study.
Super fun, hands on class. Great professor, very knowledgable. Would 100% take him again, my favorite class to date.
I took his Human Biology class. His lectures can be boring and fast paced, but he provides study guides and many forms of extra credit to ensure his students do well. He encourages us to ask questions and try to dig deeper. It can be a difficult course to take as a non science major, but it was okay. He stuck to the syllabus and was clear.
It's an anatomy class so I do expect it to be hard and online only made it harder. I would recommend to anyone to take the lecture in person at the least. His study guides are very vague so you have to use as many outside resources as you can.
Study guides are not good. His teaching style was more telling than explaining and going into depth. He just tells you he does not explain for you to really understand. Online courses would get a 5-minute video for a PART of the chapter per week. I need someone to tell me the why and how so he just wasn't the best. No extra credit is given out.
Professor Wingfield tends to be laid back and understanding when there is communication. This course was very lecture/textbook heavy so effort is a MUST. The course consisted of weekly chapter quizzes, exams (covering 3-4 chapters each), and group assignments (participation). His reviews are helpful and opportunities for extra credit are given.
The students leaving poor reviews are looking for a place to point the blame for their own failure. This is the best professor i've ever had, he cares so much. He offers extra credit on every test and he has informational videos on every topic that you can watch that perfectly encapsulates the subject. If I could rate him a 10/5 I would.
The students leaving poor reviews are looking for a place to point the blame because of their failures. This class requires you read the textbook you were given, learn how to read before taking this class. This professor is the greatest I have ever had and I would give him a 10/5 if I could. He gives his all for his students and genuinely cares.
I took his lecture and lab for anatomy 2 and he was a good lab teacher, quizs were easy and exactly what was on the study guide. On the other hand, for lecture he had a powerpoint from the book, not even his own that he would quickly read from. There was no beyond explanation other then what was on the powerpoint.
Took this class in-person and honestly do not understand the poor ratings. I thought he was great! Very friendly and helpful! No extra credit but study guides were very detailed. A lot of material to remember but it is expected with Anatomy. As long as you show up to class and study, you will do great. Very few assignments and interesting labs!
Wingfield is very understanding and is a great teacher and person overall. I took him once a week and felt like there were a lot of exams. There are a lot of things you need to know, but that is expected with anatomy. his labs were very fun to do and list a clear study guide for every exam it is simply just long. Not much homework, just exams!
Prof. Wingfield has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class works well. The lectures align with the free textbook, and going to class is worth it. For study prep, I found using Unstuck AI alongside the course materials very helpful.
Amazing professor! Very friendly! Lecture heavy, review before class!! Open to questions and gives really good examples and explanations. Many opportunities for extra credit, study guides, no pop quizzes, very easy class assignments, not a tough grader. Attendance was recorded but not required, however if you miss a class you will be behind.
very knowledgeable guy and makes exams muchhh easier than they could be.
Anatomy is a hard subject but professor Wingfield sets you up for success. The homework and quizzes are easy and fast. You also get two attempts on the quizzes. If you learn all the topics and concepts listed in his study guide you are guaranteed a good exam grade. He also has an extra credit question for each exam!
professor Wingfield is great! Anatomy (with any teacher, I assume) is a lot of material so the work load is notably heavy. But his set up made it way easier for me as long as I put the time into it. He gives great, positive feedback after assignments and exams and has lots of resources to help you succeed.
I took both his lecture and his lab, the lab was ok it was online and the instructions were clear, his lecture however he just pulls up a presentation (not even his own it's premade from the book) and reads through it rather quickly, he does not further explain nor ask if we have questions
His lecture was very disappointing. He only read quickly through premade slides without explaining anything or checking if we understood. The exam reviews were long and confusing, and his final exam mean was 39.9. When students asked for extra credit, he always said no.
Honestly, it's a pretty easy class as long as you watch the videos before each exam. He gives you most of the material you need to focus on in those videos. The homework and quizzes are easy if you review the textbook. It's definitely a heavy memorization class, but I learned a lot.
