This prof is awesome. He is 100% dedicated to his students. He will help you if you ask. He did a lot of examples throughout the class which helps your comprehension.. but be prepared this stuff doesn't come easily. Good luck
Easily one of the best stats profs in the department. If you can switch into his class, do it.
Helpful and committed --wants to ensure students are successful. Took feedback in stride and changed curriculum based on overwhelming student feedbck as to 'value added' subjets --this shows real class, real professionalism. Outstanding professor.
This professor is great! He goes out of his way to make sure you understand the material and if you asked him for another example, he'll gladly use class time to give you one. Plus he's always in a happy mood so at least it doesn't feel like he's there because he has to be...he's there because he wants to be unlike some profs...*cough* NASH *cough*
He's awesome!!
The best professor for stats 1! He teaches everything clearly, he helps you when you ask for it, and he genuinely cares about his students. Definitely do whatever you can to switch into his section because he makes stats bearable!
Prof Wright was fantastic and I wish I could have him for Stats II as I know I will be sucessful with him teaching me.
Excellent teaching, impressive and really cares for the students. Extremely helpful when teaching the course. Hope to have this professor for future classes at the School of Managment.
this guy deserves a nobel prize in teaching
This professor had awesome notes. The class itself is hard for students whose strength isn't math. So, to do well, do ALL the homework and assignments. The midterm exam is REALLY easy (if you've done ure homework), but the final is VERY hard even if you did ure homework. The final, you should still pass, but expect to drop a few grades. Practice all the previous final exams b/c they're similar. Use the FORUM!!
One of the three best professors I met in the university.
Great class. Good high level coverage of material with many examples. Recommended.
Fantastic Prof. He showed a considerable amount of interested for what he teaches, and relates well to the class. Good sense of humour (dry humour, which not a lot of people get, unfortunately) and is stimulating even when the material isn't. Highly recommended for any course.
Creative style of explanation! I still remember his Ghosts and hash potatoes analogies. :-) Wiki article is an update method to request student participation. Maybe should set a mid-term. Very open to students' opinion. In general, clear, interesting and organized course.
Great class even though it was not quite what I expected since I currently work in MIS. I liked the format of his classes, wish there was a mid-term. Do your presentation early if you can. I loved his British humour.
-The teacher is a very intelligent person; He knows very well his courses and I'm very lucky to attend his course. He gives many examples to help students to understand the course.
Awesome prof. Clear lectures, good examples, great textbook, assignments that reflect course material and overall nice guy.
He teaches very well, explain things clearly. Its really my pleasure to have him as my prof.
Good Prof!
Great prof, with great notes, made stats 1 much easier.
Semester: Fall 2007 Please someone needs to give this professor a nobel price. His teaching method is impeccable, he made Stats 1 seemed so easy and interesting. He says that his specially is in the realm of ecommerce, but quite frankly, I believe he's good in all disciplines. KUDOS to you Mr. Wright
Great professor who will always keep the class interesting and engaging. He uses lots of real life examples and you can always depend on him for some great jokes. A great prof who is very approachable and extremely knowledge able. I always enjoyed his class
Slides are too easy compared to the exam. It would be helpful if he would suggest us exercises instead of saying "just look at past exams." Most peoplle do poorly in his class but he boosts up the average a lot higher if people are doing poorly.
Great professor. Kept the course material interesting and varied, using a variety of colourful examples and stories to convey the ideas.
Great prof. I highly recommend taking him. Very knowledgeable and active in class.
Great Professor. It is an easy course, at least for MIS students. Textbook is useless, so you only need to study prof's slides. Course outline is not fixed, it can be changed by students' requests which makes the course even more interesting because you study what you think is interested to you.
Great Prof, course is fairly easy, but many marks are for case discussions, so attendance is relatively mandatory. I never looked at the textbook, as the prof's slides are more than plentiful. Overall I am very satisfied.
Very good professor. Interesting subject matter and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
An extraordinary professor! This is the second class I took with him and he was consistently knowledgeable about the subject matter and made the class fun! I was very inspired by the subject matter and he was able to effectively communicate all information to everyone in the class.
Worst teacher ever. Gives exams that are impossible to do. Behind that British accent is a dark soul.
Very clear in class, midterm was very fair also. His final was crazy though. Walked into that thing with a C+, didn't pass the final meaning I failed completely. Even though I had above 50% in the end, I fail. UGH!
Prof Wright was a fantastic prof. He is the nicest man. He let us hand things in late without penalty; he legitimately just wanted all of his students to enjoy the class and learn something interest. I would suggest this class to everyone. It is easy and fun! (The way all prof's should be!)
He was my prof for ADM3396, the CSR seminar. I would highly recommend this professor and this class to anyone interested in environmental and social issues.
Prof Wright's Corporate Social Responsibility Seminar is great. It's interactive, interesting, and the assignments are simple and fair. I would definitely recommend this ADM elective.
Prof. Wright is a fantastic teacher. I had him for Stats 1, e-Business and Corporate Social Responsibility. No need for textbooks. Assignments are easy marks. Final exams are always much different than the past/practice finals.
This was a great prof! He has a great British sense of humour and classes are very interactive. His expectations are very clear and he is very fair in his marking. I would suggest this class to everyone.
Wright is a great prof with very clear expectations, spends time on the subjects that students are most interested in, or if someone doesn't understand he tries different ways of explaining it until you do. presentation, case study and wiki article are fairly easy but the exam is very technical, make sure you study.. looking forward to his 3396.
Very clear explanations, and extremely helpful. He designs his classes to be moderately interesting. If you don't understand, he tries different methods to help and goes out of his way to offer help outside of the classroom. He is approachable and friendly. An excellent prof. all round.
One of the best professors I have ever had - he Is an exceptional teacher. He explains clearly, is always available for help. He keeps class light hearted and fun.
Great teacher and story teller. I initially thought e-business (ADM3378) was going to focus more on business models & marketing strategies, but it turned out to be much more focused on the technologies behind it and social responsibilities related to them. Nevertheless, very good course and teacher. Make sure to participate in class though!
Prof. Wright is a great teacher! He takes the time to make sure students understand the concepts and makes time before and after class. He is really friendly and really values students feedback. As long as you participate prof. Wright and the class is awesome.
Great prof! Very enjoyable class :) Explains really well!
Stats was changed this year, keep in mind there was no midterm just all assignments. What no one will tell you is that he is VERY monotone, but nontheless, really sweet guy! He explained things, went over things if you were confused, answered emails, really helpful!! Made this course a lot easier. Barely looked at the book! LOVE HIM
BEST STATS TEACHER EVER!!! I've taken this class with the other professors and they were very DULL and didnt know how to effectively teach the material. Prof Wright makes sure that you understand the concepts and gives some very important guidelines in succeeding in life. If you're taking this class make sure you change to his section!!! Trust me!!
Professor Wright was a great Prof. He really allowed the class to get involved in all lectures and share their opinions. The class is not time consuming, and there is not a lot of extra work that is required. All discussions and speakers were very interesting! In all this was prob one of my fav classes!
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! Any course/lecture taught by this brilliant man is a privilege to attend. The material is cutting edge, crystal clear and beyond interesting! Taking Dr. Wrights ADM 3378?s will be one of the best decisions you will make during your studies. Dr. Wright continuously delivers EXTREME value in every lecture and I am
very helpful and explains well we had a hard midterm but the final was very easy, had pretty much the same questions as those from previous exams. textbook is confusing though so better use the powerpoints only
Teacher is one the nicest person I met. Really nice, kinda funny and brought us chocolate at final exam! Teaches well, but is voice can sometime become too monotone.
Prof Wright was SO nice! He offered a lot of helpful real life examples/videos/articles that made the class more interesting, by far one of my favourite courses this semester!
This course was interesting and interactive. The class size was about 20 students, and professor Wright planned for class discussions and guest speakers. He was fair in his marking, and he was always available by email to clarify and answer questions. The assignments were not overly time consuming or difficult. I highly recommend this course.
Best professor I have ever had! Nice guy who doesn't waste a minute of your time when he lectures. He made the subject very interesting and easy to learn. For the final, make sure to study all the assignments you've completed throughout the year. This was the key to success that many people didn't realize.
He is an okay prof! I don't really like the course outline (4 assignments and 1 final). Assignments were really easy, like everyone got 90+. But, the final was HARD! I didn't expect to pass that course. I ended up doing pretty good.
Exceptional clarity. Slides are very helpful and assignments reflect the material to date perfectly. Passed the class with an A+ without going to DGDs or reading the book just by sitting in the front row and answering questions. Tries his best at humor and works most of the time. :) Best prof yet.
Simply one of the best professors in Telfer. He is clear and concise and all assignments reflect exactly what was covered in class. He's a pretty funny guy too. I wouldn't pay too much attention for the fall 12 exam for a future reference point; it seems to be an outlier, in that it was extremely hard, whereas exams before it were much easier.
Great Professor! Made things clear and as easy to understand as possible given the content. Final was extremely hard, so don't cheat way through assignments although its hard not to. Will hurt you in the end.
Easy to get 100% on assignments. But can't fall behind in class because of a difficult Final.
NICEST, MOST HELPFUL PROF
the course is difficult however the key to success is attending the class and practising old exams. this prof is the best , he is clear when teaching
Fantastic Professor! Interesting classes and material. Clear requirements for deliverables and ample flexibility on due dates and topics. Highly recommended for elective.
very knowledgeable prof, highly recommended
my fav prof.. the best.
Just done final. Everyone's like wtf, hardest exam ever..... Prof. Wright gave all of us chocolates during the exam... So I guess that's the reason why...
Amazing professor with great anecdotes, jokes, and life advice. Explains subject extremely well with good examples. Goes through topics at a good pace, must do homework on MyStatLab to keep up. Assignments sometimes confusing but you can easily do well on them. Midterm was fair but the final was extremely difficult. Helpful in office hours.
He is a good prof. Everything was good and fair until the final exam... it was extremely difficult.
Great at explaining concepts! Make sure to do the assigned work and attend his lectures. I found both the midterm and final fair. If you keep up with the work and you should do well. Also, normally the midterm and final are the same across all sections, and he is the best stats prof for sure.
Great prof, best stats prof available for the course, manages to entertain while he teaches so students remain awake. Final seems very hard, but marks are curved and at the end of the day people who worked hard got good marks.
Excellent professor! Keeps the examples clear and concise. The exam is difficult so it is mandatory to keep up to date on the content, and do lots of examples!
Very enjoyable lectures. Focus and pay attention. Put in the effort to keep up and you will do well.
Great professor. He makes every concept easy to remember. Just put effort into studying stats, exams and assignments and you will get a great grade. Stats is hard, but he can help you if you are willing to learn.
very good pro,,,highly recommand him.
He is a really kind person and he always try to help u even on exam
Don't take CSR if you won't participate in class discussions, it makes the course really boring. The Prof lectures with excellent clarity and has lots of interesting in-class activities. Do your presentation and assignments early for bonus marks. Ask him lots of questions on how to do your assignments/presentation, he's very helpful. No textbook!
I loved this course!! It was super informative and interactive. Professor Wright was always willing to answer questions and his assignment options were very much appreciated. I would highly recommend this course with Professor Wright.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course! Prof. Wright's stimulating method of teaching made the four hour lectures into fun and informative sessions. I learnt a lot through the mini case studies, class interactions and guest speakers. Highly recommend this course to future students.
Very knowledgable professor and extremely helpful. The course offered a very practical insight into sustainability. The coursework was also very manageable and relevant.
Prof. Wright has very good command on the subject and he makes sure all the students understand the topics before moving on to the next one. He will do anything possible to help students who are not able to match the speed of the class. He is one of the most approachable professor I have even seen. Thanks
Professor Wright not only has good in depth slides, but he is also very approachable as well. His in-class questions do help and he tries his best to answer all of your questions in detail. You will have to work a bit on fully understanding the material (since it is a bit hard), but he is there to help.
Great prof. He takes the time to go through multiple example questions from past exams, and they are all relevant to what is on the final. He also provides students with past final exams from all the way back to 2000. Professor Wright is very approachable. He is always willing to assist with understanding the material.
In terms of exams, as long as you do a bunch of sample exams (maybe even multiple times), you will do well. I basically never used the textbook, what he does in class will for sure be enough to understand the material and cover what's tested... given that you pay attention in class.
he is good prof but the slides need to be improved to be more clear.
One of the best profs! He does a lot of examples to help you understand concepts, and is always willing to answer questions. The key to acing the online assignments is doing the online homework practice; they're almost the same stuff. Never used the textbook, but the slides are a little hard to understand so it's best you attend classes.
Professor Wright is a very good professor. Despite the subject matter being dry, he makes a good effort to keep the class engaged through his examples. The examples he covers in class as well as the past exams are the key to receiving a good grade. Practice, practice, practice!
Excellent, teaches only what needs to be taught. Dull content but he tries makes it interesting. Listen and write answers from in-class questions from the ppt. His ppts are confusing, but have excellent examples. The 4 assignments are mark boosters; they're a good study tool for the exam! Midterm is hard. Unclear about evaluations, so ask him!
A very good prof. Provide few review sessions for both midterm and final exams. Very helpful! Highly recommend!
Supplies a ton of extra material for your benefit - past exams and assignments. MyStatLab is a great way to boost your mark even though the midterm and final are tricky. Gives part marks which are great! Overall a dry course but a helpful prof that wants you to do well.
Super helpful prof that emphasizes understanding above all else. If you listen to his lectures and understand what he is doing and why you, will do great on the exams. Also really nice and helpful during his office hours.
By far the nicest professor I have ever had. He gives solid lectures, gives great examples, and provides students with multiple opportunities to get good marks. He is also very helpful and gives extra credit and marks to students who work hard. David Wright is one of, if not the best professor you can expect to get for this course.
Just an O.K. professor. Professor Wright is friendly and always open to questions and makes an effort to answer them. Lecture slides are not so helpful. Conducts very boring lectures but goes through examples which is nice. Tricky assignments and exams.
Good at explaining material if you pay attention in class and ale ays there to answer questions and help out students. However, power points are a bit all over the place and hard to study from (I used a friend's from a different class). He also held a useful review session before the final. Overall good prof
He explains REALLY WELL! Go to his office hour if you have any questions; he is extremely helpful. He gives past final exam questions to help students to ace the course. Excellent prof!
Professor David Wright is one of the best profs I've had so far. His slides are rather confusing but he explains exactly what needs to be known in class in order to do well on the tests/ course. He is always willing to help during office hours with whatever questions you have and is very reasonable when asking for a regrade on a certain question.
I took the class as an elective and I won't recommend it if you don't need to take it. The prof is easy going and helpful, but his exam was really tricky and not clear. He is a tough grader, just follow exactly what he says and ask him lots of questions before you submit a paper or do a presentation because his requirement are not really clear.
He was a very knowledgeable professor who did a good job of delivering the content. The course has a moderately difficult course load that requires a considerable time commitment. Would recommend him above all other professors (avoid phansalker)
He's an alright professor at most. He's not the best lecturer as his explanations are sometimes unclear or he moves too fast for students. Class is difficult and slightly unorganized.
Amazing professor that truly cares for his students. He's always available to help his students and is very understanding when it comes to re-marking assignments if you ask for it.
Best prof for Stats 1. The material is really hard but Professor Wright makes it easy. Gives short assignments that are extremely helpful and happen to be worth 20% of your final mark so definitely do them and try to learn from them. Very warm and supportive to students. I only wish he taught Stats 2 as well (pls).
Nice prof, I liked him. Lectures are TOUGH to sit through if you're anything like me, but you will catch the really important things if you follow the examples he does in class - they really help. Be prepared to read, and find some good people to study with. No lies, it's a hard class, but he is a good prof. A good cheat sheet will be vital!
I liked the topics covered and learned a wide variety of subjects. Professor Wright style of teaching is very respectful and smooth. I recommend taking courses with him. Also, a cheat sheet (One 2-side paper) was allowed for the exam.
It was a great experience taking his course. He is very knowledgeable and makes the material easy to understand. He's available outside of class, prepares you well for the exams, is a reasonable grader and will make small adjustments to your grade if you show your work and understand the content. I highly recommend him as a stats professor.
very nice professor. fair grading. best prof for statistics. very important to choose a GOOD TA. DGD would be really helpful.
Recommended to change grading structure to be more flexible, not only presentation and exam. It will be good if it's splitted into 4 section including assignment and attendance
The lectures were quite heavy, with very specific examples. But Prof. Wright always answer questions clearly if you have any. The final exam was multiple choice and very tricky even with cheatsheet. He's always welcome questions out of class and willing to give additional explanations.
His lectures are pretty heavy but he gives a lot of examples and answers all questions clearly. Best prof for stats.
Amazing prof for Stats, definitely take him, he uses lots of great examples and gives plenty of opportunities to ask him questions. Makes difficult concepts easy to understand. Also a very nice guy and you can tell he cares about his students!
Nicest teacher
He cares his students a lot. Excellent Prof!
Prof. Wright is an engaging instructor who does his best to communicate the course content effectively. His effort is evident in his lectures and teaching approach as a whole. His use of anecdotes, props and practical applications made the course content much easier to understand and contributed to a positive learning environment.
Great prof trying to always help although classes get boring sometimes! Would recommend going to talk to him about his research.
Can be a little boring but I think that's the material not the prof. Really strives to make everything easy to understand and follow. We had a temp prof for a day and spent 75 minutes explaining a concept that made no sense to us, but Professor Wright was able to explain it in 10 minutes in a way that made sense.
It is somewhat hard, at least for me it was. Despite what I got in the class, it's my fault, not the professors. He taught everything properly, cared for his students and explained everything thoroughly. Put in work!
Can be boring but uses interesting examples to keep you paying attention. Very easy to understand as he makes things seem easy and teaches very clearly. Answers all questions knowledgeably, as you can tell he really knows what he's talking about. I would take a class with him again anytime.
he is super cute and always has little random stories to tell you, he cares about stats and cares about the success of his students, his slides are pretty good, midterm isnt bad, final was more about definitions rather than calculations, 5 assignments that are kind of long
Prof Wright is a really nice guy and a great prof! He explained concepts really well in class. The midterm and final were relatively easy and he gave a pretty clear indication of what would be on them. The assignments were pretty rough but if you give yourself enough time theyre doable.
Amazing prof with amazing accent. You won't regret choosing his class.
David Wright is a really kind prof who will try his best to help you out. He answers emails fairly quickly and answers questions in a way that is easy to understand and retain. Try your best to do well on the assignments as they can really help you out and even though stats isn't the easiest, he makes it bearable and gives lots of examples!
David Wright is a very kind and caring prof - he also has a nice accent! The course itself is quite heavy, there are a lot of assignments and the material can get pretty overwhelming. He goes through a lot of examples and he does past midterm/final questions in class.
Professor Wright is hands down one of the most down-to-earth stats profs here in Telfer. Lectures are definitely boring, but mostly because the subject itself is not that interesting to listen to for an hour and half, but Wright makes it enjoyable. If you see his name, don't think twice take his class.
Fantastic professor. Class content was difficult and dry but he was always able to explain things well and kept it interesting. Super approachable and always reasonable. Highly recommend him!
The guy is caring and helpful but can't teach a stats class properly at all.
He is a really good prof, but his teaching style is so out of date. His assignments were really hard and it was impossible to finish them without external support. The final was a disaster with absurd questions that only an A+ student could solve. The course generally was a torture as well. Too difficult.
His class is really boring... he sounds like a national geographic film narrator teaching a stats class. This course is already boring and hard and having him teach really makes you rethink your life. If you want to fall asleep quick at night, record his lectures and listen to them while going to bed. Hes not a bad person but just avoid if you can
He is a really boring prof with no intonation in his voice, which makes you fall asleep in an instant. Exams and assignments are hard and they are not relevant to what we learnt at the class. Go to another prof or study yourself.
He is a polite and friendly person but his course is totally torture. The class material can be explained fast and clearly, yet the prof makes the lecture really long and boring, which makes you really hard to follow him. Statistics class is about calculation, but he teaches it like a theory-based history class.
I've had many profs and I have to say that Professor David Wright is the one prof who stands out the most . Mainly being that he is very caring, helpful and kind. He'll answer all your questions and all emails really fast. He is simply the BEST prof I've had so far at the University of Ottawa and one of the best profs I've ever had.
stats is a heavy material class. Lots of work however he's a great teacher and explains everything in great detail. I'd recommend if you are confused to go to office hours as he's extremely helpful and will provide you with a more clear example. One of my favourite profs thus far!
Great Professor with the online format! Watch his prerecorded video lectures, attend his in person weekly class and practice with old exams and youll do well!
Professor Wrights teaching style is straightforward and allows the student to grasp which concepts he is trying to explain. He is lenient with remarking assignments or helping the student gain more points off of an exam. Loved this professor, and for a difficult course like stats he is the right professor!
Really good prof! Reply to your mails very quickly and explain things in details. He's really helpful and approachable.
Excellent professor who clearly has extensive knowledge on the subject. Lectures are very well done. Takes questions and does not mind repeating to clarify. Goes over past exam questions which help prepare for real exams. The subject is not easy but the professor does everything to help students succeed.
He explains things well and help you practice past exams in the course. When the average is low, he curved our marks! Very appreciate it!
David Wright is an amazing professor. He always gives precise and clearly lecture even if the lectures are a little bit long. He is friendly and willing to answer student questions all the time. The key to pass this course is watching every video he posted and do a lot of practices that he provided.
Stats is a tough class, but Professor Wright provides great and straightforward lectures! He also provides many examples and previous exams to study from. Being online it was helpful that you were able to rewatch lectures if you didn't fully understand the topic being covered. The optional sessions were helpful to go over guided practice problems.
Great prof! His weekly video lectures were amazing and he always made time to answer my questions in class.
Prof Wright is a great stats professor and I would definitely recommend. Lectures are asynchronous which allows you to learn at your own pace and he offers synchronous classes that go over past exam questions and where you can ask questions. Super accessible outside of class and always answered all my questions. Assignments were grade savers!
Prof is amazing !
David Wright is one of the best prof at Telfer. He is friendly and willing to answer student questions all the time. His course is very clearly
Simply put, prof Wright is one of the best profs I've ever had. Much respect.
Overall very organized and well respected prof. Helps you thoroughly until you understand the material. Do not be shy to ask questions, he is very informative.
This professor was very thorough and always available for questions and concerns. He truly shows that he cares about his students and their successes. If you are a business student that is required to take this class, do your very best to have Prof. Wright as your prof for ADM2303.
My absolute favorite prof! His pre recorded lectures are great and he explains content so well. Hes available outside of class for extra help and is always willing to help. Best telfer prof I wish he tough more second year classes or stats 2!
Such a caring professor. He will take the time to explain and re-explain solutions and concepts to students. Make good use of his office hours! He is so dedicated and patient, I got such a great mark in this course because of these office hours.
Great prof! He explains the materials very well!
Amazing professor! Lectures and examples are detailed and easy to follow, and he's always free to explain stuff or answer questions. Highly recommend him for stats.
The assignments aren't too difficult (prepare to practice a lot in order to get perfect on them though), but the midterms and finals are really difficult so be careful about that. However, professor Wright is good at explaining and he gives amazing feedback so he's definitely a good professor.
Professor Wright was a lovely professor who provided in depth examples in all of his lectures. He speaks somewhat slowly but his lectures are still paced well. The midterm was very difficult and needed to be curved approximately 13% but the final was ok. Unfortunately he has retired, so it will not be possible to take any further courses with him.
