Cant miss any more than 4 days in class or he will drop you, and he takes attendance every single time. Grades pretty strict on tests - deducting lots of points for very small errors. Homework is pretty easy though.
Very interesting professor. Attendance mandatory at first but after a while he doesn't really care, but you really should it's hard to catch up after missing a class. He grades pretty easy, will give points for trying on tests and always has extra credits/free questions. Open notes/book tests. Drops lowest test score and love reality TV!
Nice guy! Tough teacher! He is tough and pushes because he wants us to learn. I went to office hours twice a week for 17 weeks and he was always there willing to listen and help me learn. Very patient. Great persons, great teacher. I dont know if I will pass but I've learned a great deal given how backwards I am at math.
LOVED Prof.YEE. As long as you do the work, you will get A. Tests are easy, very straight forward questions n open book & notes. Always has extra credit. n tests are 100 points but he gives 110 points. So basically if you get 90, you are still getting 100. Always answers any questions and wants you to do well! Take His class!!!
Great person ! I truly enjoyed being in Yee's class. No Math class is easy if you don't study! But if you practice by doing the homework, take notes, and show up to class, there is no reason why shouldn't succeed ! Specially with professor Yee. He is kind, funny, and willing to help anyone who actually cares ! YOU WONT REGRET HIS CLASS , take it!!!
Prof. Yee's class is straight forward, challenging, engaging, and easy if you show up, do all your homework, ask questions (he openly welcomes question for additional clarity), and study. NO MATH CLASS CAN BE PASSED WITHOUT APPLYING WHAT YOU LEARNED BY DOING THE HOMEWORK AND STUDYING. Otherwise you'll get your test and go: "HUH?"-from personal exp=
Professor Yee's class is straight forward. As long as you show up, pay attention and do your homework there is NO reason why you shouldn't get an A. He tells you exactly what to study for each exam the class before. Prepare to work hard and it will reflect in your grade. Professor Yee is a MUST TAKE for Statistics!
Professor Yee is a great teacher. He is very clear and helpful, you can ask any question and he always answers nicely. I am horrible at math and I got an A in his class. He tells you exactly what you will be tested on in a study guide and lets you use the book and notes for all exams. I highly recommend this class to anyone.
take professor yee's class and you won't regret it. all you have to do is do your work and show up in the class. the tests are open notes and books. if anyone interested in taking statistics, i strongly recommend to take professor yee.
Prof. Yee is the best math teacher ever. He understands statistics is hard and is very welcoming to questions and answers them happily. Do the homework! Ask questions on the homework! and you'll be fine. Tests aren't too hard although the math department no longer allows open book tests. Just do the homework. Best Teacher! Easy as far as math goes
Prof. Yee is helpful and approchable. His lectures are easy to follow. The tests aren't very hard as long as you do the homework and read the examples in the book.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Statistics in general is a hard subject, but he will make it as easy as possible. midterms are easier than the homework, just attend to class and do the homework, you will be fine! Midterms and the final have extra credit. If you want an A in statistics and learn a lot at the same time, Mr. Yee is your best bet!
Prof. Yee is the best ever He is very fair & kind I have learned a lot from him both in statistics & outside. Statistics itself is hard so you have to study alot. but if you do study and do all the homeworks your grade is A. The tests aren't hard if you study. he prepares you before the tests. The students who graded bad they never studied nor list
I am the privious student. The students who graded bad they never studied nor litened to the lectures. Again Professor yee is the best. There are 3 midterms and a final and some projects. lots of extra credits and helps from the professor.
I have sat through approx. 5 different statistics classes throughout the past year and all I have to say is take Prof. Yee. He's fun and very very fair. To be successful in his class learn your TI-83 calculator inside and out for all problems, do homework and study the slides!!! This class in general is harder than Chemistry......so work hard!
Don't take statistics for granted. It's abstract, requires a good foundation in algebra, and time outside class for material to sink in. That being said, Professor Yee was very helpful, always made himself available, had dedicated time in the beginning of every class to answer questions, and was extremely fair in his grading. Highly recommended!
This class was unbelievably hard for me. I studied all day and night and only got a C. With this said, I am an English major and math is not a strong point of mine. Prof. Yee was very sweet and made the class easier to succeed in. Really get into the course, go to math lab, and do all of your homework. Good Luck!
A lot of people in class asked if they could take him again for the next course. That says so much about the quality of his teaching. He is THE BEST math teacher I've ever had & math is not my strong point. Anyone who has an issue w his personality has NO sense of humor as he is ultra-laid back & super funny. TAKE HIM! You will not be disappointed.
Read the sections in the text, seek outside clarity from other sources as well tutor, teachertube, etc. Very entertaining professor, very nice, ASK QUESTIONS, he will move on if you dont ask. by the end of the semester we asked tons of questions at the start of each class, helped a lot! LEARN the CALCULATOR!
A really great professor who is really dedicated to the students. He's always available to help and the homework is key. He allows formula sheets, but with Statistics you need to know the material for them to be useful. Have fun, he's GREAT!
I like his class. He would like to answer every single question we have. Read his powerpoint and do all homework you will earn a easy A.
He is very fun and you will not get bored in class...the thing is he is not easy you actually have to workkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk hardddddddddddddddddddddddddddd in class and too bad I didn't...so it's not an easy A also its not an easy B
I got an A in this class but it isnt an easy A, u should work so hard for getting high grades. i think lots of my classmate fail the class because his exam is so difficult. However, exam always comes with extra credit but the full marks is still 100. U have know a lot if u really work hard in this class. remember to finish all the homework!
Prof Yee is a fun guy to have as a professor, but you will have to study, however after taking his class you WILL know stat. He's always ready to help and discuss smth, often gives extra credit with tests and take-home questions also. He's a calm and logical person, not boring,he likes student participation.I would take another class with him.
Great class. He is funny and has solid philosophy in statistics. He knows what we must learn by hand and what we can rely on the fancy calculator. Not an easy A class but if you really want to master basic statistics, Take him. He is also generous for studious students. Do you need an add code? Show up regularly, then you will get an add code.
Professor Yee is the best. He is ALWAYS willing to help and will spend as much time as we need to answer questions. He is very fair when grading the 3 midterms and the final. The attendance and homework are mandatory if you want to do well.I recommend this class for people that are not good at math but are willing to work a little.I loved his class
One of the best math professors @ SMC. Very fair in his grading and beyond generous with his time. He always went the extra mile to help me out when I was struggling, and would respond to my numerous emails at all hours day and night. He is a super cool guy and makes a tough subject engaging. Highly recommended!
Statistics itself is a difficult course. A lot of students get bummed about this, and then want to take it out on the teacher.. Professor Yee will make things as easy and as clear as possible, but you have to do the work. He will go out of his way to help - when asked. On a side note, he is a good guy, and also entertaining. Highly recommend.
Professor Yee makes the hard statistics subject easy since he will let you know what kinds of stuff you will need to know. He will tell you clearly how to solve problems with a calculator step by step. Professor Yee is extremely patient to answer any questions. He always makes the class interesting and full of fun. Highly recommended!
Stats is a very time consuming and difficult course, but Prof Yee really is there to make things as interesting as possible and help as much as possible. You are going to have to put a lot of time into the homework, projects, and studying but thats for every Statistics class. Take Yee hes the best!!!
Professor Yee has been one of the best math professor I've had at smc. Yee made it easy to understand. He tell exactly what on 3 midterm and the final. Just make sure to keep up don't fall behind. Stats is hard so don't give up trust me when I said yes make this class easy.
Prof Yee may seem a little intimidating and cold at first. He is a very intelligent guy who doesn't show too much emotion. However, he will make sure to guide you through the problems when you ask. Just make sure to ask. He tries to make things easier by letting you learn stats with a calculator. Take Him. You will learn stats the proper way.
Prof Yee is hilarious and highly intelligent. He relies heavily on the calculator and textbook and moves through the material quickly, but if you pay attention it should be easy. He's quick to answer questions and his tests are way harder than the homework. I was terrified of Statistics going into it, yet I still came away with an A.
Best professor I've had in smc. extremely helpful and patient, replied all questions and emails promptly and always entertained even the simplest questions with patience and clarity. relies heavily on textbook and calculator which makes it easier(for me anyway).got an A and had customized recommendation letters for college too.MUST have for stats.
Yee is hilarious. Very fun class, lots of laughing!! :) aside from that yee relies heavy on textbook & calculators , if you want to do well these two accessories are a must especially a calculator . Gives hw every week, if you do the hw you should be fine for the exams. He is real good with emails, responds quickly . All in all, if you want to enjoy going to class, go with yee!
He is a humorous and good-hearted professor. Once you study hard and show your work to him, you will get an A. What I really liked about his lecture was that he explained about statistics with a big picture. That is why he helped me to understand statistics more efficiently and easily. You will love this class once you can get it~
Prof. Yee is a very good professor. He's a nice guy that will always help you.If not clear, ask questions in class or if shy ask after class. Math 54(Stats) is NOT an easy subject. DO NOT under estimate this subject.Read book and do homework but UNDERSTAND homework.Don't just copy answers from the back. Study HARD from day one and you will be fine.
Professor is very patient with every question as long as you asked. He assigned homework to make sure we have followed the course and the test just covered what have been in the homework. As long as you have any question, he can respond you quickly by email. Really recommend his class!!
Attendance is mandatory. He covers all chapters in the book (not like other professors) 2 projects (about 10pages each) = a lot of work to do. Not an easy grader.
Prof. Yee is awesome. Three midterm, two projects and final. Just do all the homework and go to class every time, you can do well on this class. I got an A at last. I really enjoy his class.
First impression of Professor Yee was he's going to be tough. However, he is a very funny guy that knows the subject very well, easy to get in touch with and answer any questions that you may have. Statistics is a hard course but as long as you attend class and do your homework (VERY IMPORTANT) you'll be just fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Do the homework. Go to class. Work hard on textbook concepts and examples.
stay away, he doesn't teach the course at all. He only reads the book and that's it. He expect you to know the whole thing already. No teaching at all.
Hard grader, for lecture he only uses power point and goes TOO FAST, does not do problems on the board unless you ask him to,tons of homework, cant be absent more than 3 times or he will drop you. He skips problem steps which makes it A LOT harder for those who are not good in math. Do not take him for math 20.
Lectures: thoroughly follows the book with PowerPoint - only reads them, if he explains them, they are too quick. Does not give examples unless otherwise asked. 3 midterms and a final. I suggest you should know the material before taking his class. You'll have to ask someone else's help or self teach. Do all the hw and pass the exams to pass class.
If you want a teacher that cares, DO NOT take Prof. Yee. He does not care about his students one bit and isn't afraid to show it. His tests do not entirely reflect the course material, and he does not elaborate when you ask for clarification. He is one of the worst professors in the Math dept. Had 3 great profs this semester and 1 terrible one.
Its as simple as showing up to class, paying attention, doing the homework and asking questions. Prof Yee doesn't make life complicated and is very helpful when you have questions for him. As long as you do your work and study hard you will do well in the class. He doesn't make it easy because he wants you to actually LEARN.
Prof. Yee is great teacher. I dont get why people are saying he doesn't care for the students, I personally I asked plenty of questions in the class and he was able to answer them and also clarify whether or not I understood the material. It should be an easy A if you do your homework and ask question if you don't understand.
While Statistics is not any easy class, Professor Yee is willing to devote time before and after class for you to understand the topics. He is patient and will give you different ways of viewing the problem in order to approach it with a method that works for you. Complete all homework and study and you will do great on tests.
Probably one of smc's best instructors, you need to take his stats. he's excellent at explaining new concepts and information; precise and clear, assigns homework that if done properly prepares you for all of the tests. he knows his stuff, knows that this is a difficult class for most, but helps you succeed, only if you put in the time and work.
Statistics is not an easy subject but Professor Yee made the class much more bearable. I have never done so good in a math class before. Just do the homework as practice for tests and you will be perfectly fine. He is a nice professor and will help you and he follows the book so everything is clear. Take him!!!!!!
Hard work pays off in this class. Very clear and funny teacher. He will make sure you understand the lesson before he moves forward. Would definitely take this professor again.
Just do the homework, study for the tests, do the projects, work hard, and you should be fine. This class is not for slackers and the material is very rigorous.
He goes way too fast. Unless you are a fast note taker you might want to avoid him. He says he'll slow down if you ask but he doesn't. I feel like I mostly taught myself which was not an easy thing to do.
Professor Yee is a nice person but I found his tests to be very confusing. I think a lot of material was reused from the previous textbook and although the problems are similar, there were definitely problems on the test that were not in the homework. Overall though if you do the homework and study a lot, it is possible to do well, but very hard.
On the first class, he seemed so strict but I got aware that he is nice and hilarious! When you suffer from difficult stuffs, don't hesitate to ask him for help. Professor David Yee will help you! He gave me feedback at once even in late night. He made us understand kinda boring stuffs. No need a text book because he will offer neat ppt slides.
Super easy A as long as you do the online homework which you can try unlimited times and get it right. Super chill class vibe. professor hand out study guide prior to the exam, exams 1, 2 very easy, 3 ,4 you need to understand a bit, final is easy and he will give you study guide which is amazing. highly recommend it to international students.
Yee is the MAN. Not interested in confusing students with complicated concepts and the HW preps you well for the tests. Online hw is done regularly so you have to keep with it but you have unlimited chances to submit so everyone should get 100% on Hw (HW worth 10% of class). Wants ppl to succeed and gives a great study guide for the final#TakeYee
Anyone who says this class is easy is LYING. That is extremely misleading. This course is A LOT of work. It is possible to do well if you do the wrk consistently. There are hours of homework. Exams reflect questions in text rather than online hw. Prof Yee will answer all your questions, but he goes VERY FAST. Test 2 on probability was the hardest.
I liked Professor Yee's lectures because even though he covered a lot of material really fast, if you didn't understand something, he didn't mind explaining it again until you understood it. If you take good notes and really do the homework with the intention of learning, you will pass with an A. He is also very funny, so that makes it all better!
Professor Yee, was a great instructor! He thoroughly covered the material and would take any amount of time to go over it to ensure his students understood. I asked a lot of questions and he always answered them thoroughly. This class is no easy A - I worked hard for my grade but always was supported by the professors knowledge.
Amazing math teacher, probably the best I have had so far. However, the class is extremely challenging and he reiterates you will most likely be retaking this class often, which is not so inspirational for most. Good at math? You have no fear as long as you MUST do the homework on time and ask questions ALWAYS if you don't understand. Tough course
The best thing about this class was Professor Yee's patience with elementary math questions. He took the time to really explain how a problem was solved no matter how long it took. In explaining answers for other students, I learned everything I needed to complete understanding of the material. I look forward to taking him again for Statistics.
David Yee is the epitome of a professor. He is funny yet serious when we need to learn. He's straight up and honest so you know what you are getting into. The man allows technology to be used and almost encourages it so if you show up and do HW and learn the ways of statistics his class can easily achieve a Minimum of a B. good luck!
Professor Yee was always a pleasure to see in class. Always had anecdotes or little stories to insert. Went through all questions asked and made sure material was understood. This class will be easier on you if you do the homework and show up. Homework is assigned online but isn't heavy. Would definitely take the teacher again.
Funnest class ive have in a long time, tests are the main focus, 3 exams and a final, also 2 projects. Online homework and mandatory attendance. This is a class that you must understand all concepts in detail otherwise you will run into plenty of trouble with the exams. having all around understanding of the material is a must if you want to pass
Professor Yee makes a topic that could be very boring (statistics) interesting. He is very funny and cracks a bunch of jokes during every class period. Stats isn't an easy topic, but having a professor who knows his stuff like Professor Yee makes is easier. Definitely suggest taking his class!
This class is no walk in the park but it is a good solid class. Attendance is mandatory, homework sections are assigned and done on an online website each week, and he takes questions before every class period. He seems intimidating at first, but he's super funny! Show up on time, do ALL your homework, ask questions, study hard! It will pay off!
The structure of the course is very straightforward and there's nothing tricky about it. He's also a super straightforward guy and will say some witty/funny things. The tests and assignments (2 projects, 3 midterms and 1 final) are all straight to the point and he'll give you a study guide. Just follow his lectures and HW and you'll be good.
Professor Yee might come up as strict at first but he is just trying to prepare students because math 54 is a hard course. But he explains really good and answers all questions patiently. He is very straightforward and if you go to all classes so you learn all calculator functions you will get an A in the exams and eventually in the class.
Yee's class above all else was pretty straightforward. Like with most classes, if you do the homework, follow along in class and genuinely put effort in then you'll get an A. Don't let his tough guy persona affect your performance. He's only tough on people that don't bother. When it comes down to it he's very reasonable and cares if you do well.
He answers questions and unlike many math teachers, actually ANSWERS the questions students ask him, no matter how stupid the questions are. He explains concepts well and the structure he uses is very organized. One of the best math teachers I've ever had!
Don't take Yee if you think this is an easy A class. 3 midterms, 2 projects, and 1 cumulative final. No extra credit and he doesn't drop your lowest test score. Homework is online but his midterms are nothing like the homework. I would not recommend taking his class if math isn't your strong suit. He is willing to help if you have questions tho.
Professor Yee is an amazing professor. He explains everything very clearly and is always willing to answer your questions. He may seem strict at first but is really funny! Class does have a lot of homework and it is all online, but if you do all your homework and ask questions you will do fine! not easy A and a heavy class but i highly recommend!
Professor Yee is really good teacher and very smart guy! He made statistic class more interesting. I really enjoyed a class! Would definitely recommend him and yes, you need to put some efforts to get a good grade, and its worth it
Professor Yee lectures fairly quickly, but answers all questions you may have. He often reiterates how many of his students will be retaking the class and he is not wrong - it is the hardest class I've taken at SMC. However, if you get ahead on homework and study 5-6 hrs a week, you will be okay. He also responds quickly to emails about hw.
Overall good professor, he only teaches the most important things in class. He goes very fast in lectures and class can be a little boring. Make sure you do the homework and study. This class is very difficult and many people end up retaking it. Three midterms, two projects, one final. If you take this class good luck!
Professor Yee is very clear about what he expects form the class and gives very detailed lectures. Although he's a good math teacher, he isn't very respectful to his students and is really rude. He is degrading and believes that majority of the class will not pass. He is VERY strict about phones and attendance. I honestly don't recommend this guy.
Yee is nice but, he doesn't explain statistics very well. He teaches you by power points from the textbook. He doesn't write on the board like old school math teachers do. It would be advised to take someone else.
GO TO CLASS and do your homework if you want to pass; you must be willing to put in the time and conscious effort. Don't hesitate to ask questions! Though he may seem intimidating at first, Professor Yee keeps it real and sometimes has funny stories to tell. I enjoyed his class a lot.
Statistics is a hard subject so this class will be hard for most of the people no matter what. Just go to class and do the homework. Professor Yee will help you with your final grade if you stick it out till the end.
Professor Yee conveys the material in a very clear way and answers questions for the students more frequently than most. I will say that the statistics course is difficult regardless of professor choice, but Professor Yee is a good one.
He is the worst professor ever. I am a straight A student and got a D in this class. I tried really hard and did not miss any class. The professor is rude and does not teach the statistic at all. Do NOT take this professor ever.
Seems tough but will work with you if you work hard. He is truly a nice guy. The course and lectures are fast, so make sure to keep up with homework. I reiterate work hard, show up, do the homework and you will at least past the class.
This professor is the real deal. He means business but he wants students to really learn. THE MATERIAL IS DIFFICULT so it is not an easy A but if you put in the work, he will recognize that and work with you in the end. he has a super strict phone policy and can be a bit aggressive at times but if you respect him, he will respect you.
Took this class at elco, he is a very hard grader and teacher. He does not give extra credit but he does care if you show concern. If you work hard you will pass this course. This was the hardest course I've taken at a college and I am an A student. You need to study at least 10-15 hours a week, ask him questions to pass, he will help you always.
ugh, super boring. I ended up dropping, I didn't care about getting a W. if he catches you with your phone, yikes he'll kick you out of the class for the day. lots of homework and idk i just know im retaking this course but just not with him.
I was worried on the first day how this class would go, but Im so glad I took Professor Yees class. Ive taken stats before and didnt pass. As long as you do the homework, ask questions, and study youll pass the class. He gives study guides for whats going to be on tests. Id recommend anyone worried about taking stats to take Professor Yee.
Lets get this straight. Stats is not an easy class no matter who teaches it. Believe me, I have heard lots of ridiculous stuffs going on in other stats professors classes. I think Professor Yee who does teach the stats material well and he cares about students efforts. Even there is no extra credit, he does curve the scores if u stick to the end
I think that college math teachers and courses at a community college are a gamble at their best. But Professor Yee does it pretty well. This is not an easy class, but if you are looking for a class that let's the calculators do the heavy lifting, does not make you memorize formulas or do stuff by hand, this is it. With Yee, respect is king.
Lets calculator do equations, no need to memorize. Goes by syllabus and grading criteria. GO TO CLASS, even missing one lecture you miss so much. Tells lots of random stories which are fun to hear and ease class up. Did a great job converting to online. Cares a lot about students, but more of the tough love kind of guy. I would take his class
Professor Yee is a great teacher! He can seem tough but he cares about his students, and is a down to earth guy. He has a vast dept of knowledge and can even answer even esoteric questions. You can use a calculator for just about everything, and don't have to memorize many equations, but you do have to do homework and attend every class for an A.
If you want to slack off and not crack open a math book, this course in general is not for you matter of fact, college isn't for you. Yee is the best professor I have ever had in my academic career. He teaches you how to solve issues and problems with the tools we have in society today. If you pay attention, he also teaches important life lessons
Professor Yee wants students to succeed. He expects students to be engaged and ask questions, and rewards those who do. He's quirky and prone to tangents. But math is my least favorite subject, and his pace and feedback helped me excel in a course I truly dreaded. Professor Yee is a solid choice. Hint: do your homework as soon as it's assigned.
If you're taking his class for Elementary Statistics, It will not be easy and it will be confusing but he will help you. He's fair and reasonable and teaches based on life situations. He's also straight to the point with you and wants you to ask questions or even ask for help.
Yee is very rude, very blunt and does not care at all for students. He wants to be respected but he does not give it back to the students. I honestly recommend taking a different professor who will take some time out of class to help you. Trust me, you do not want to take this guy.
This is a tough class, no question - but Professor Yee really cares about you and is an amazing professor. I'm not normally a fan of math, but I really enjoyed this class and learned a ton. He's also very funny. You'll have to put in the work, but I highly recommend everyone takes Professor Yee for Math 54!
Statistics is difficult by any measure, so if you're concerned about GPA, I would recommend taking a Pre-statistics class prior to this one. Mr. Yee is obviously brilliant, but the material is taught quickly as there is much to cover in a semester. The textbook is helpful to aid understanding. Keep up with your homework and take good notes!
