Don't listen to the other comments. This prof is the****! Dr. Young's so helpful and approachable. Ask him questions after class and he's more then willing to answer them. This prof is the real deal. He's straight forward kinda guy.

Once you get past the fact that he looks like Stephen King, he's a pretty good prof. He's kind of a no-nonsense guy, which may be taken the wrong way by some students. His lectures are very clear and easy to follow, and the exam content is fair as well.

Very fair. Not really any give if you screw up something. Which makes sense... He seems intimidating and unapproachable but he is easy to talk to if you need/want to chat. Lectures are straight forward. Pretty good overal.

Dr. Young is very willing to assist students. Lectures are to be silent because, as he outlined within the first week of class, he has some sort of hearing problem so he would have difficulty hearing you if you raised your hand. His exams, while tricky, are reasonable, and his lectures are very well organized and facilitate easy note-taking.

Dr. Young may look tough to ppl @ 1st.. he's very nice if you go talk to him. PPL thought he's mean and tight on the markings but actually he's very helpful if you go talk to him. He spent 40 minutes going through my midterm with me and gave me useful tips on the finals. Afterall, he's just like other profs ~ who wants their students to do well.

I absolutely LOVE him!!! He's very fair and helpful. He's also incredibly organized which makes taking notes easy! Even with his hearing problem he still tries to engage us in discussion. I plan on taking as many classes as possible with him!

Everyone who says hes unapproachable and scary is absolutely right but I don't think that takes away from his teaching capabilities. I found him very fair, clear and easy. I mean the guy didn't even make us read the text book, how much easier could it be? He may not be a ray of sunshine but he's a good prof :)

Dr. Young was one of my better professors @ Mac. Always organized, clear expectations, available when needed, a fair marker.... Only problem with the class was that the text (which was $70 used) is only needed for the essay, and only one section of the text at that. GOto lectures, but tutorial is kind of useless.

I had him last semester and this semester as well... his lectures are very structured and i find that you have to write everything he says down. overall i feel that he's fair with his tests... but what is up with his orange cup??? lol

Clear and organized. Tests are very fair. Questions on tests all derived from lecture notes, so don't skip lectures. Don't talk in class, Dr. Young has NO patience for this (rightfully so)

he is very organized in terms of his lectures. he is awesome in his teaching style. and very thorough, his is a pretty hard marker tho. he is good on exams tho. :) i am taking his course again.

He has his pros and cons but overall he's a good prof. His lecture notes were very helpful and easy to follow and he takes his time and fully explains things. The course material in itself is a little boring at times. The exams are fairly difficult but if you go to lecture and do the readings you will be fine.

Dr. Young is am amazing prof! Ive been in many of his classes and like the way he is so organized with his lectures-it makes it easier to study when it comes to exams! I will definately be taking more courses with him in the future.

He's amazing. If you attend lecture and study what you've written down its an A class. He's great.

Second class with him, this one was also incredibly easy. However, he is unbelievably boring, and his answers to class questions leave a lot to be desired. Also note: textbook is 100% non-testable with him.

Sometimes the lectures can be boring, but I loved his organization. He makes studying for exams easy. His exams are fair. I actually learn in his lectures. If you truly have questions, don't bother to ask them in class though, ask them privately after class or in his office hours. He may miss your hand or not hear you fully, respect that.

I love D.Young. i tried to take all his classes, had him 5 times. all time fav professor. His classes can be a bit boring but he teaches at a great pace & his tests come directly from his notes he gives in class & he provides good notes & allows for u to be able to note take well. I think u have to be super lazy to do bad in one of his classes.

Took 2S06 and 2Z03 with him. He made what could be very boring topics quite interesting. Lectures at an easy pace, so easy to write notes. And exams are VERY fair-right from the lectures. Learned a ton from him! Favourite prof, hands down!

Dr. Young is an AMAZING professor. He is by far the best professor that i have ever had. He is so clear and makes it extremely possible to do well in his courses. Any class that you get a chance to take with him... do it. Even if the material sucks he makes it interesting and makes it easy for you to do well!

Very good prof, concise. Doing well in this class requires regular class attendance but tests are very fair. Most questions on the test are recognizable if you takes good notes and tests are only based on lecture notes (tutorials are based on textbook readings)

All of his exams are based off his overheads. I was sick and attended class he was rude and made me move to the back of the room because I had "too many germs".

Dr.Yong is crystal clear on everything. His lectures are clear, his expectations are clear, even the procedures he follows in resolving issue related to marking are clear. This man is extremely structured, and I love that. In other words, If you follow Dr.Yong’s instructions and attend his lectures you will most likely do well in his class.

Dr. Young is a very structured professor. Structure is good, but not to the extent where there is no autonomy or flexibility left. Especially when it comes to papers, he is very clear what he expects which can lead people to rewrite their papers 3 times. He is not very considerate when it comes to discussing about issues regarding about your marks.

He is a very structured prof. but he is clear in what he expects from his students. I found that exams fair, and mostly studied from my notes. attending class is crucial since his slides are just skeletons, so make sure to make a friend in case you miss class. Overall I enjoyed his class, and most likely would take another course of his.

He's tough and strict, but he's honestly one my favourite prof. at MAC. He's very rigid and follows a guideline but in this sense you are able to know exactly what to expect. He gives off a cold exterior, but he means well. He's one of the profs. that actually challenged me and taught me how to become a better student (e.g. writing shops.)

The way he teaches is extremely clear and basically explains everything like you have no previous knowledge. His feedback on assignments are very detailed which is good and he takes his time to really give you guidance. This is not an easy professor and you have to work super hard to pass his course. Don't skip class AT ALL and pay attention.

Lectures are very organized and easy to follow and he lets you know exactly what you need to write in your notes by repeating himself and talking slowly. He genuinely cares about his students' learning and his instructions are always clear

He is very structured and because of this I was able to take great notes and I understood everything the first time he explained it. However the tests/exam were very hard. They were based on the readings and lectures but you literally needed to know EVERYTHING. He had direct quotes from the textbook so you can imagine how stressful that was.

Dr. Young is my favourite prof. He is extremely reliable, consistent, and fair. He lectures at a slow pace to ensure everyone takes good notes. His lectures are CRUCIAL for doing well in the course b/c his slides are skeletons. IF you attend every lecture, expect to get an A range grade b/c his tests are super fair. EASIEST A+ I've ever earned.

Second time taking one of Young's classes. Love how thorough his lectures are and he makes sure to explain everything in depth - especially if someone does not understand. He can be intimidating but he has everyones best interest at heart. Pay attention and you will succeed in his class.

He gives very in-depth, amazing lectures! Love how he takes the time to explain things; so with that in mind, you should definitely make an effort to attending the lectures since the PowerPoints are mostly made up of shortened facts, simple diagrams and/or just headings.

Dr. Young is a great professor! Everything tested is based on what he says in lecture. His tests are multiple choice with only a few questions from the textbook. The textbook is required for the written assignment/essay but it was very easy to complete. His lectures are straight forward and very easy to follow. You must attend class to pass.

I had Dr. Young for 3 classes (2KK3, 2LL3, 2VV3) and I loved his organized teaching style. Lecture heavy so take good notes to do well on the exams. Don't bother with the readings as tests are mostly lecture based. Tests are easy if you study. Despite loving the content itself, he seemed very unapproachable, strict and his lectures were boring.

He's very precise with instructions and a tough grader, his lectures are really descriptive. Lecture material translates directly with testing content so keep that in mind.

Dr. Young is very clear in what is important and what you need to remember for the tests, in his lecture. Gives a lot of information but constantly asks if anyone has questions and does overviews of content frequently. You must take good notes and study but if you do the tests are pretty straightforward.

Attend lectures and tutorials and you will do well. Dr. Young is strict but fair, yes there are only a few things that are graded but that's normal honestly - Prioritize doing his term papers in advance of the date, he is clear that extensions are only for extraneous circumstances. Everything in the course outline is 1-1 with what he says, read it.

I found Dr. Young to be a great professor! He is one of the most organized professors I have ever had. His slides are very clear and easy to follow, and he always records lectures, which is nice in case of absences!

Dr. Young's class has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and use resources like unstuckstudy for study prep - you'll learn a lot. Grading is fair, just stay on top of assignments.

Old school teacher, demands respect but as he should. Can be an asshole but is usually super kind, patient and funny. obviously cares about what he's teaching but everything is weighted at 30% so you can't use your MSAF in this class unless its for tutorials. You'll only dislike this class if you're lazy and incompetent.
