Great, easy and funny teacher! Do NOT hesitate to take his class! his class was so fun!he gives the best examples, we play games that help understand the material and get rewarded!! If you want to understand economic, you should DEFINITELY take his class. I wish I had him for both 201 and 202, i will miss this class! He was AWESOME!
Great professor, great person. He is always willing to explain you the material to its limits of application. Very creative and wants you to understand econ(science directly derived from biology). He does not go over the expensive and useless book, his approach is much more useful. Econ is in everything and he makes econ fun, enough said.
Great professor. Come to class and take notes. His exams are kind of tricky. Study his lecture notes from his website and the notes you took in class. Do the practice exam, it will prepare you for the actual one.
BEST ECON prof. ever! Made Econ fun & enjoyable! Had lectures on his website, and no textbook use. Used real-life examples to teach, and made everything understandable. Exams were also easy and not difficult. Will give you half credit on questions & will let you challenge if wrong. Really GREAT professor! Great quality! Great person as well.
AWESOME PROFESSOR. Very young and helpful. Funny and nerdy. Made class extremely fun and made sure to engage his students. Admirable to an education major the way he taught his class. Very good new edition to Montgomery College business department.
Youngberg is a great teacher who is easy to understand and can keep class interesting. The 4 exams have 110 possible points and are graded out of 100. Most of the test is multiple choice, but the way the questions are set up it would be hard to get lucky if you don't actually know the material. Utilize the lecture notes for what you don't get.
His examplesscenarios make it easy to understand the material. When someone doesnt understand, he will explain it clearly and he is always in a good mood and the class is never really boring.
Great professor. Has a keen understanding of every tiny detail he teaches, and loves every bit. Very enthusiastic. Will take for STAT next semester. Easily relates to many of the student population due to his hobbies and interests. Difficult exams and little homework (3* each exam). Really helps you to learn the material, not just to memorize it.
Personally, he is not the best professor for me. 10 percent. of your grade is participation. Do not take is your are shy .The blackboard homework was super hard. There were 4 exams and was as equally difficult as the blackboard homework. The final exam will make you question if you actually studied, when you actually studied for a week.
His teachings style is fun and interesting. Do not take this class if you're shy, bc without participating or asking questions you will not get the material. His tests and homeworks are very tricky and tough. You really have to know the material to even get a B. You will have to work hard to get an A in his class. Its not easy, but he is great.
Youngberg is a great teacher he really does try and help you out and you can even go and see him at his office hours for more help. His test are tricky as hell but he does grade fairly if the answer was B but you picked A if it was close he may give you 2 points then a zero. If you are shy get over it because in his class you need to ask questions.
He is a really good lecturer. His tests are pretty tough, but if you get the concept, you'll do well in his class. His lectures are entertaining. Also, you get to eat a lot of candy in his class!! :D Participation is really important, and he takes it seriously. His class activities are really fun too, and you get to learn a lot...
I've taken both ECON202 and 201 with Youngberg and not only enjoyed the classes very much but his teaching method really makes the material stick. Does activities and gives several examples for the more complicated material. All in all, the best teacher I've had at Montgomery College. Not only would take again, but already did. Funnest class ever!
Prof. Youngberg is great. Interesting and entertaining lectures, with fun activities to explain more difficult concepts. Workload is not bad: short homeworks every wk, and 4 exams (including the final) which are based off lecture notes and practice exams he provides. Participation is 10% of grade, but that shouldnt scare u from this awesome prof.
Really funny and gives clear notes/instructions. Responds to emails, gives good feedback on hw and tests. Always thinking about his students when making/grading tests. Holds helpful-ish review sessions and gives really helpful practice exams. Definitely recommend taking his class.
Professor Youngberg was the best professor I've had in my college career. His lectures are really interesting and he makes economics fun! I came out of the class having a much larger understanding of how the fed makes decisions and how economies work. You don't need to buy the book-but you do need to attend class and participate in class. Awesome!
The professor is very helpful. The class itself is pretty hard, but if you attend class every day and focus on his lectures, you will definitely understand. He is willing to help outside of class, also. Sometimes, the instructions were not the best, but it is still pretty clear enough to assume what to do.
He deserves to get the best rate here. Regardless of what grade I received, I highly recommend him to those who are interested in politics and economy. His teaching method is unique.
BY FAR one of the best professors I ever had. You will understand everything as long as you pay attention, because his lectures are funny and amazing. Yes, the class is not easy, but his practice exams and lecture notes help you A LOT. Participate in class and be a dedicated student and you'll LOVE this class whether you love economics or not.
You should never skip this class. Great lectures and the material is very easy when he explains it. Also, make sure you read the Economic Naturalist.
This dude is easily one of the best at MC. He's funny and explains the material well. For each exam, he puts up two previous exams on bb to study from. 3 exams, the final, and one pretty easy paper. I took this as a gen ed and it's easy for a 200 level class. If you study a decent amount, you'll be good to go.
He's a great professor. He lectures AMAZINGLY and yes uniquely! He will mention that incentives matter a lot! This is why he gives out candies as prizes in his class. However, do NOT expect to get an easy A in his class. Economics is hard even if you do understand it. His homework and practice exams are EXTREMELY helpful! Visit him outside of class
He knows econ really well and he also knows how to make it simple and easy for his students to understand. His teaching style is really amazing. TAKE HIM and you will not regret. His tests are tricky sometimes, but the way he grades it is just so nice!
He was a pretty cool professor. I am not a business/economics major but this class was required for my major. This class is not an easy A - you have to really work for it. He makes everything as easy as he can. He's a funny guy. Make sure you attend class so you dont miss something important. I would recommend taking him.
Professor Youngberg does an outstanding job of covering the course material fully, while refraining from getting too complicated (he does not participate in the arms race, unlike other Economic professors). He is incredibly skillful at taking vastly complicated subjects and simplifying them for his students. Everyone should take him.
Dr. Youngberg has set the standards of what an amazing economics professor should do. Not only he is capable of deconstructing complex ideas and definitions, but also he hammers them home with everyday life useful examples. He always comes to class with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Dr. Youngberg has demonstrated that he has tremendous
Not an easy A! I really had to work hard for this class, all his notes are online which is helpful. His exams are not difficult but it's not easy as we, it's very tricky. Also, you really have to participate! I don't really know why participation even matters since it really didn't help me. I feel like it puts more pressure on some people.
His lectures are clear and understandable. Makes learning fun.
Prof. Youngberg is a gem. I loved and enjoyed Econ I & II. I don't like Econ and English is not my native language, but I ended up understanding 90% of the material. Try not to miss his lectures because they are on point and read all his notes several times if possible. I highly recommend him. I love the way he teaches the class.
Funny dude. He really tries everyone to get engaged. Read the Economic Naturalist book for the tests. The class is not very hard however you do need to write some papers.
Top notch professor at MC. Participation matters, don't be scared it's only like answer or ask 1 question every other week. Papers were easy if you understand basic concepts. Great notes and examples, definitely a fun class. His exams are out of 100 points, BUT he gives you 10 free points for all 4 exams. I loved his reviews, wish we couldv do more
Boring lecture. You do not need to take notes in class because they are already on BB. Exams are kind of hard.
He has all of the lecture notes up on his website, has practice exams (two for each of the exams), and the textbook is not required and if there is a reading, he puts up a link that goes straight to it on his website. He is literally one of the most organized and clear professors ever. He made Econ super easy.
Amazing lectures. Very organized. Very straighforward. As long as you take a look at notes and review exams before each exam, it should be an easy A. I would 100% take classes with him again
HE IS THE BEST ECON PROFESSOR EVER!!!! I thought economics was boring and difficult to understand, but he makes it sound so interesting. Participate in his classes and take down notes, and then you're good to go. Would highly recommend him! I hope more professors are as good as him!
You will be surprised by how much you have learned at the end of the semester. He is a high quality professor with interesting assignments and amazing lectures. If you are a shy person, don't be afraid of the participation, just try your best, you will be fine.
He is the best economic professor in Montgomery college. Because of him, I became so interested in economics, and decided to be a students who major in economics. I wish I have more economics class with him!
He is a decent professor. His lectures are online, but his tests are tough. Nothing like the practice tests he posts online.
Professor Youngberg is very strict about his grading. Get ready for difficult exams.
He's a great guy but too much content & exams. He provides notes online though so that is VERY helpful. He's willing to help you do better too.
Amazing professor. He explains things very clearly, uses real-world examples, and encourages a lot of class participation. The exams are challenging and tricky, but he curves them 10 points and gives you plenty of time to finish. The test averages were almost always above 80%. I think he grades pretty leniently
Great professor. Very good, organized lectures. If you think econ is a hard subject you should take him, he makes it very understandable. Make sure to be aware of due dates because he won't accept late work, and most of the times he won't remind you of it. Keep track on the class schedule, make good use of the sample tests, they are very helpful.
He is the best economic professor EVER. His class is so inspirational, and he always prepared for class. He made me want to continue exploring economics and major in economics.
He is honestly the worst professor I had so far. Do not take his class he doesnt know how to teach. His lecture notes are useless and dont explain anything. Exams are super hard and heavy graded. He assigns way too much work especially for an online class and he barely answers emails. Idk why he has such good ratings. dont take him you will regret
NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! The worst professor ever! He gives out way too much homework, and does not understand we have other classes we take. His lectures are not clear at all, nor helpful. He does not give enough time for his exams, his exams are very heavy with materials he never taught us. His homework and lectures have no correlation with his exams.
Save your self and take a different Professor. I dont even know how he has a good rating, his lectures sucks, his grading sucks, and his exams are really heavy. His exams are also very long and he doesnt give enough time. His lectures are unclear, even if you tell him, he wont do anything. Dont take his class.
He lectured every class, but I never found a time where I was bored. He kept it interesting with his personality. He also teaches how to do the math in Excel, so there's little actual calculations done yourself. His teaching skills are impeccable, but if you don't pay attention in class and you rely on the online notes you will struggle.
Professor Youngberg is a good teacher. I took his BSAD210 class and did well. I am not the strongest student in math but understood the work in this class. His website, study guides, answer key to the study guides, and homework is very helpful. He is also a very fair grader. He incorporates excel which is a great to learn!
This class was a huge challenge and professor Youngberg did not make it easier at all. His Homeworks wasn't helpful at all, I had to get a tutor because I was on the verge of failing. DON'T TAKE HIM!
I had to drop this class because it was overwhelming. He didn't tell us about homework posted on blackboard so I missed a couple & he incorporates excel which may be helpful for some, but I could not memorize some commands when taking exams. Exams are very hard and some questions aren't covered during lectures so take that into account.
Kind professor, but his class was challenging. Tests are very in-depth, and questions require you to think completely out of the box of the lectures. Exam questions are completely different to lecture examples. Practice exams are extremely helpful because of the similarities to test questions. Lectures are posted on online, but videos are blurry.
I took his Econ 201 pre Covid-19. Best Econ professor at the college. Makes the material easy to understand and applicable to everyday life scenarios. He's very eager to help you understand if you're having trouble. This class is not hard, just READ LECTURES AHEAD + LOOK at the SYLLABUS! Usually there's 1 long read & a short essay per semester.
I had so many expectations for this teacher, back when we had in-person classes before COVID-19, he seemed to be pretty good. Nonetheless, when we transitioned to online classes, it was terrible. The only thing he did is uploading confusing videos for us to watch, and HE NEVER DID A SINGLE MEETING ON ZOOM. I really hope he changes his methods.
Professor Youngberg is straightforward and will clarify things if you go to his office hours. His class is very forgiving, I failed the first test but then went to his office hours and he went through the exam with me. I got an A on the rest of the exams and got an A in the class. His exams are modeled after the HW and practice tests which is good!
He is an amazing professor. I've recommended him to many of my friends. I learned a lot from his lectures and his exams reflect material that was learned in class. You will pass if you pay attention.
Took business statistics online with him and I definitely enjoyed it! the discussion board part is not annoying as it often is with online classes. Homeworks aren't hard but his tests make you work a lot to get an A.
The lectures were very enjoyable. The content was easy to understand and class was not too difficult. Very manageable work load. I would recommend this professor.
Great professor for both in person and remote learning classes!
Unclear grading criteria on blackboard as compared to what will be submitted by the college. His is the only class where I have had this issue, no other class. Learning excel can be tricky since not everyone is tech savvy. Pros are that he provides videos for his lectures and notes as well. Honestly, if stats isn't your thing, it's a hard class.
Very good teacher. His classes and topics are very well structured and his lectures are clear. He answers all questions and it's easy to reach him outside of class. Not super heavy on the homework either. If you are willing to learn and put in the effort, you will get a good grade and enjoy his class. Thank you if you are reading this prof!
Professor Youngberg is complicated. I found his lectures very helpful, and he did a really good job of breaking things down when asked. He never talked down to us and encouraged us to ask questions. HOWEVER, he is very much an Economist and sometimes comes across as almost cruel. Be prepared to raise your eyebrows a lot.
Definitely a tough class but Youngberg is still a great professor. Some exam or test questions can be worded strangely which is the only issue I had. Make sure to actually pay attention, we didn't use a textbook so all the information is during the lecture. Lecture notes are always posted in case you miss a class or need to review.
Prof. Youngberg finds many ways to incorporate relatable examples into his lectures. He makes the best out of difficult material and has a great sense of humor. In terms of feedback, he is generally very prompt and specific. He enjoys asking questions to keep everyone on track but can be curt at times. He seems to really enjoy his job.
Professor Youngberg is probably one of the best Ive ever had. You can tell he likes what he does and really wants his students to succeed. His lectures are always interesting and theres never a dull moment in his classes. He responds to emails and messages very promptly and holds weekly office hours.
Awesome teacher tests and hw are straight from his lectures which are all recorded and he posts his outlines online too. Test are easy if you look over lecture notes and take practices tests he provides.
Youngberg ha great a teaching methods, class time always pass by fast! One thing is to always participate and ask questions when you are confused so you can keep up. You definitely need to study, and Youngberg have many practice test/ exams to help you study. Fair grading and teaches logical.
Professor Youngberg is a really good teacher, personally I feel as though he comes off a bit stern through emails however when you attend his meetings or talk to him he's actually a very kind and nice professor. This class was extremely hard, but I think professor Youngberg did a great job at trying to make it easier for his students.
Make sure to do plenty of practice problems, watch his videos, and take advantage of his office hours.
Wish I could take him to my 4 year University! Such a good teacher; explains all the concepts super well, participation does matter though. The class itself is hard. The material, and the tests are difficult, but thats just the subject. Take notes and STUDY. I wouldn't recommend any other econ teacher but this one. Seriously my fav prof at MC.
Best Professor I have ever had. Was very lecture-heavy, but they were engaging and interesting. Even though I did not do too great in his class, that is all on me. He gives great resources to study from and if you take advantage of those you will ace the exams. Overall a great class!
He was an okay professor, it's just annoying how the exams and projects are what makes up 70% of your grade. Weekly discussions and home works are only 1% of your grade. Exams are always tricky because there are always 4-5 answers that are identical. Do not bother emailing him as he emails back days later and wasn't that helpful. Take another prof
Overall amazing professor! He understood all the concepts and material, which made it easy to ask questions and get additional information. Excel was used for most of our work. He knew to explain the class through real-world examples and showed how tools are utilized in the real world. He gives extra credit and drops your lowest homework grade.
Professor Youngberg is the best. I accidentally enjoyed economics. He allowed us to work together so we can get something out of other classmates. His class was fun and I was disappointed to see that he was not teaching econ 202 the precedent semester.
The professor writes everything on the whiteboard and explains everything simultaneously at a nice pace. He has a lot of office hours and encourages students to ask questions during class. My only con is the class was one of the most complex classes I have taken at MC. You must do a lot of deep critical thinking on the quizzes and exams.
He is amazing! Prof. Youngberg is funny, kind and straightforward! I knew that Statistics is going to be one of the most difficult classes as I have taken it previously in my foreign education. But Prof. Youngberg made it less of a pain. Do your quizzes and practice exam review exercises. And you will definitely pass with a good grade.
Accessible via Groupme outside class. We used Excel to calculate statistics, as real-life businesses do. Most formulas are given, and we were allowed to use Excel on tests to calculate with. Prof curbs grades when needed and provided 3 pts extra credit on the last exam. However, tests are trickily worded and you have to pay close attention
Professor Youngberg has been one of the most instrumental professors I have had. This class has prepared me so much for the real world due to the use of Excel and other statistical models. This class was hard and one of the classes I have had to properly study for. However, if you study, pay attention in class, and ask questions you will be fine.
His teachings connect closely with real-world situations, enhancing practical knowledge through economic principles. The course was challenging, requiring dedicated study. Yet, dedicating time to study, actively participating in class, and engaging with questions proves that hard work truly yields positive results.
Professor Youngberg was the best ECON teacher I could ask for. The class is not easy but he is a super good teacher and makes sure his students understand the topic. He is goofy which makes class entertaining. His tests are not easy but he grades very leniently and will always give feedback when requested. I highly suggest him for this subject!
Youngberg is easily the best professor I've ever had. His class is a big reason I want to study economics. His lectures are captivating because he so effortlessly incorporates student participation. The tests are on the harder side, but hes such a good professor that they don't feel that way if you show up to his lectures.
The best professor Ive had at MC. His lectures are always enjoyable and entertaining. He gives great feedback and amazing test preparations. The tests are always easier than all the prep so if you understand all of it you will probably get a good grade. Take him!
- Educational and funny lectures - Participation is graded but class goes quickly - Makes due dates clear - Not a very work-heavy class - Understanding if you have a few absences (email him before lecture) - Final exam is only 20% of final grade, so it's not too stressful - Will call on students to answer questions in class - TAKE HIS CLASS!
He's one of the best professors I've had at MC.Econ concepts can be a bit difficult to understand but his lectures make it fairly easy to comprehend. He is also funny & encourages participation to make the course enjoyable. I really appreciated how organized his lecture notes are as well as his availability in office hours. I highly recommend him!
A very solid professor, the provided course notes are your friend. Although there is no textbook, there are free supplemental readings that are required to pass the course. You must be ready to answer a questions in lectures as it is part of your grade as well.
Professor Youngberg is the best Professor I have ever had. Concepts were really easy so destroyed study habits. There is a textbook but free, online and only uas extra resource. Grading is weird but fair. Naturalist paper is a tough so get started early. He covers a lot quickly, so missing a class is a no. He is a frequent Board game Club member.
Engaging, but very tough grader. He hooks you into every lecture he teaches with his flamboyant personality, yet still assigns some of the hardest homeworks and exams. Regarding textbooks, it was a free e-Book. It was more readings than the book. Do your due diligence to try and get a good grade. Don't be surprised if you get a B or lower.
He is truly a great professor. His enthusiasm encourages you to engage more in the lectures. I would recommend taking him in person. I was very doubtful about the course when I had first registered but he made it all fun and engaging.
Great economics professor & highly organized. I have not seen a more organized distance learning class, though he is better in person. Great at concisely explaining concepts and keeping his class engaging and relevant. He loves answering specific questions, and will talk your ear off. Made me interested in economics.
I loved his class. his lectures were very clear, with plenty of humor sprinkled in. he gave plenty of space for questions and comments (which also counted as participation, which was part of the grade). as long as you paid attention in class and did the small amount of reading the exams were not hard to do well in.
If you want a good grade, like an A or B, this is your guy in the Econ. dep. Just show up, study, do the work, ask when you need help, and boom, but if you also want to expand your knowledge outside of the economic's classroom, this might be the one of the best guys in all of MC.
Professor Youngberg was the instructor I needed to fall in love with economics. There's no required textbook, but I learned so much. He has a website with his notes for each lecture, so as long as you look over those before or after lecture, you should remember the content easily. Not an "easy" A, but if you stay focused it isn't hard!
I took his distance learning class and sometimes he takes days to respond. He grades harshly sometimes and assigns way too much work. The practice exams never align with the actual exam so you have to do extra studying. Some questions are also tricky and similar. As long as you put in the work he'll see that you're trying though.
Professor Youngberg is a gem! He is so organized, has his own website with notes and practice. He does such a great job teaching that you won't ever have to crack open the optional online textbook. I genuinely looked forward to his lectures. We went off topic often, but covered all the content in time for exams and pre-exam practice.
He was alright, wouldn't take it again because was a little rude.
Professor Youngberg was one of the best professors I've had this semester. His charisma and attention to detail in his lectures made them truly enjoyable. Not only does he utilize all resources to enforce knowledge, such as introducing us to books and podcasts, but his website also holds a goldmine of notes he crafted himself. I HIGHLY recommend!!!
I took it DL and wouldn't recommend taking DL BSAD because I think it's just harder to ask questions and he might take a while to reply. He used videos that he recorded on yt but when it just starts getting a little messy and a lot of work.
