This prof is new and I have him in both BDM and stats. He is great! He's a quiet guy and sometime doesn't speak loud enough but his explanations and slides are amazing! I really like him and recommend him, he simplifies the subject matter. Intelligent and modest man - thank you!
He is new and young best best prof you could ask for. Very helpful, very fair, gives thorough explanations without ever being condescending, and knows how to teach so that students understand. His slides are amazing and he uses exciting materials to teach. Also an all-around nice guy, and pretty funny as well.
I love Davood, he's a young prof with a very good heart and as the semester goes on, I like him more and more! His assignments are longer than the ones given by other profs but they prepare you super well for midterms. And midterms are really easy!!! As a student, that's all I ask for... haha take him for sure!
Davood Astaraky is an excellent professor. He genuinely cares about his students, is enthusiastic about the subject matter and always available for questions. Overall, he made what I found in the past to be a very difficult subject (having registered and dropped this class before) easy and enjoyable to learn!
Davood is Awesome! Very knowledgeable and smart guy, Well organized, clear and helpful. On top of that he is a super nice person.Highly recommend.
He's really clear and his assignments reflect material taught. His exams are very similar to assignments. Take as many classes with him as you can. Easy A+, just do what he recommends.
I like him. He's a really nice guy and wants people to actually learn something rather than just regurgitate concepts.
Great professor. Excellent explaination. Make the class very interesting and enjoyable.
He's not a good prof. Himself needs help to understand the cocepts of operations management
I didn't learn anything from this course. Prof Davood is not up to the level. Needs to be replaced.
He's not a good prof. Needs to be vry well prepared before coming to class and answer the questions. Don't ply around.
Excellent professor! Course content is useful & fun to learn. If done right, the 25% project is a blast! Exams were fair. My advice - study slides and only use the textbook as a reference when clarity on a specific topic is needed.
Great guy! I think the 3 consecutive terrible ratings were made by the same person and don't give him justice. I'd definitely recommend taking a class with him.
Great class.
I'm currently taking ADM3301M with prof. Davood but honestly, he knows absolutely nothing on OM. He needs more help than some students.
Confusing class and not clear at all.
I'm totally unhappy with his teaching. Confusing and not clear.
I had OPS with his in fall. I loved his style of teaching throughout the semester. He was able to speak about reality rather than constant theory being thrown in our faces. He is really modest and for the first time in Telfer courses I didn't feel like the Professor was talking down to the students.
Very confusing class and prof. unable to explain.
Not a good Prof. for teaching. Needs to be organised, prepared for class, answer questions not just turning around with the answers. Be direct and stop wasting our time and knowledge.
I like his style of teaching. Lecture notes are great.
What's wrong with this prof. doesn't teach well and makes the class confused. He has no talents whatsoever.
Mr. Davood is not a good prof. He shouldn't teaching Operations Management nor Business Decision Models. This a very new area for him. Should see something different in his field.
He might not be a really awesome teacher, its just his first year so he is still nervous. Go to his review sessions are very helpful and he is a very nice guy. is also lenient with marks
Good , but not great!
Probably one of the best teachers that can teach Business Decision Models very well.
A very young professor. Is actually very good for teaching stats. I had Suren Phansalker before and had to drop his stats class. he was awful. This guy is easy to understand. Class itself can be boring but the powerpoints make up for it. Assignments are fairly easy. 80% of it we handed in instead of using mystatlab. 75% + on all assignments so far.
awesome :)
Horrible experience overall.
He will tell you everything you need to know, great teacher
He is a very young professor, very good, and explain stuff very clear. He will tell students what the test would be, recommend.
He's a great prof. Has AMAZING notes. Gives good examples in lectures and knows his stuff too. If you're struggling with a specific concepts he's wiling to help. He's also pretty funny and likes to keep things interesting. This is the go-to prof for ADM2303. Our class had the highest average for the Stats 1 section.
Great prof and literally does everything in his power to help the students. If you have the chance take him!!
Fortunately this course runs several sections in parallel, so i say telfer remains an Okay place to learn business statistics, but, ...
Really nice and willing to help
Only prof at the University of Ottawa I have had for two separate courses. Like him in BDM, and he was even better for stats. Funny and relaxed demeanor in class makes for a more enjoyable class environment. Writes his own exams to make sure they are fair. Best prof I've had so far.
Great Prof! Really care about the success of his students Made very goodclear Powerpoint slides and posted them on Blackboard. There are assignments due every 2 to 3 weeks but they are pretty easy if you read the textbook. You are allowed a cheat sheet at the midterm and final exam, if you take the info he provided on his slides, you'll pass!
Awesome prof, he's a great teacher and will do his best to make you pass. HOWEVER, his exams are extremely difficult. The questions he gives in the exam and midterm are WAY harder than the examples given in class, pre-final review session, assigned questions, and assignments. If you want to LEARN, take him. If you want a GOOD GRADE, don't.
Had him for BDM, Stats 1, & Ops. They are not the easiest classes for the average student so you need to work to properly understand (in all of them, if you don't understand it, the cheat sheet is no help and you'll fail). Exams are tough, but Davood prepares you the best in comparison to other profs/sections. He's young and gets to the point.
Best stats prof. Hilarious and easy to understand. Got an A+ on the first midterm and 100% on all assignments. Would definitely recommend to anyone
Be prepared for his final exam as it is going to be tough. Midterm is quite easy ;you could get a A, but the final could fail you.
Great professor in class. Makes a boring class kind of interesting. Very clear in his teaching as well as what will be on the exams. Assignments were slightly difficult but not impossible.
Telfer lost a great professor !
I had this prof for BDM and Stats 1 and he was great in both. He gives good feedback and has really good lecture slides. BDM can be challenging but he tried to make sure that all the students understood the content. I finished with an A+ in both the classes I took with him and would definitely take this prof again if I had the chance.
Best prof. Take him if you have the choice
Great prof! Lectures can become long but he makes an effort to keep you interested, always available if you have questions after class. His feedback is very helpful
All over the place nice guy tho
His classes are not always the most loved classes from the telfer students. The only thing i want to say is that if you are on here choosing whose class to register in for Stats, BDM or Ops, choose him! He cares more about his students and delivers the content the best.
Gives you all the details for the Midterm and Final in the class to ensure that as a student you are well aware of what you will be tested on. He is a very intellectual prof who wants his students to succeed. If you listen to all his tips and do all the practices tests you will be fine for the final. Assignments and finals are straight forward
his lectures are all over the place, very unorganized, and sometimes he contradicts himself and makes mistakes. His lectures were a waste of time, which is unfortunate because lectures are important for subjects like statistics. The book was all I used.
Makes lots of mistakes when lecturing
Beware of his midterm on excel, long case study with 20 questions to complete in 2 hours. He tailors the class heavily on the service sector of operations, so your class is different than the typical operation management class. The final was 4 case studies but they were shorter/easier than the one on the midterm. Recommend taking another professor.
By far my favourite prof at U of O. He is fair, friendly, and has a very clear way of explaining concepts. He truly wants his students to succeed and prepares us very well for the exam. Five star.
He's a very easy marker but not the greatest teacher. He makes it easy to get bonus marks and is very lenient, but he doesn't explain the material very well. If you have friends in the class and can learn together, it will be a breeze. No textbook use at all which was a blessing.
Great lecturer, explained everything clearly and willing to answer questions.
He was by far the best professor and friend I have ever had during my years in Telfer. I never missed his class plus he is a very sweet person. Fair and helpful. Helped out with my assignments I wish he was my professor for all my past classes at Telfer. I graduated 2015 but I recommend taking all his classes
Davood is one of the most accurate and caring professors I ever had. He pays attention to the learning of his students and it is important for him that his students leave the class with a new piece in their mind. He expects quality study/participation & I believe it served us very well. He had a wonderful rapport with respect and humor!
Confusing
I feel like people don't get to know him that well. he is actually an amazing prof. I used to skip classes and say I didn't understand, but if you actually listen to him teach, he's the best! take my word for it
A very caring and friendly professor. He is one of the best professors I've ever seen. If you get the choice, CHOOSE him. He is very helpful and answers your questions diligently. He provides you with all the info you need for the midterm and final. Go to office hours and ask questions, you won't regret it. Overall, he is an AMAZING prof!
Amazing professor. Has clear and easy to follow lectures despite the difficulty of the subject. He takes the time to answer questions clearly so you understand. He cares about his students a lot! Take this professor if you can!
Telfers worst prof. His excel midterm was extremely difficult. Class avg was 30% when I took it in summer. His exam was extremely difficult. Many students fail his class including myself. Take ops with Rim Jaber she is amazing. Got an A with her. Her lecture notes are more clear. Would not recommend taking ops with davood
Absolutely incredible professor. His lectures were utterly breathtaking. It would never occur to me to sleep or do anything else other than listen to his eloquent and highly comprehensible lectures. Unreal
Just read the textbook
Buddy doesnt know how to explain things. Very disorganized. Read the textbook if you actually want to learn something.
Lets just say theres a reason people regularly walk out half way through class, and why David Wrights class has people on the waiting list a month after it starts.
Youll learn all about probability trees and bar charts
Davood is the best stats teacher you can have! Very straight forward and his instructions are clear. I highly recommend taking him for stats and operation management. Provides complete powerpoints, great examples and useful assignments and quizzes.
I would not take again, I found the lectures were quite disorganized and felt discouraged to ask questions in class.
He is an amazing teacher, and if you attend his lectures, he'll give you a clear understanding of the material. I had statistics second year with him, and the recorded lectures were amazing. Even though half of the assignments are harder than usual, I would definitely take his class again.
RUN! If you do not have a previous experiences dealing with statistics do not take his class. The recorded lectures are long, boring and confusing, and he doesn't give any summary after teaching a bunch of complicated formulas. Even he's nice and willing to help, still the worst lectures I've had so far.
Don't take this mug's class unless you are not afraid of heavy workload and lectures with tons of tosh stuff. This prof didn't even complete the class in the Winter term, so our class was taught by another prof who proved himself to be more incompetent and dodgy. His ppt was about 100 pages long and he didn't provide answers for many practice Qs.
Davood has many assignments but he is super helpful explaining the assignments and teaching the course
Apart from the long PowerPoint slides, Davood explains the material very well. He answers all the questions which students are in doubt. Quizzes, assignments and mid-term were fair. Recommend him for ADM 3301.
He was pretty great for this summer. Apart from his final exam (which was tough), his quizzes (almost free marks), assignments and mid-term exams were fair. His lectures were pretty useful and TA for this class was great as well. Highly recommed.
Took this over the summer. Course: very easy until u get to the final exam. Studying off slides is enough but reading the textbook could clear things up. Prof: not good at explaining things, only has 1.5h of office hours so may be hard to reach, don't bother emailing unless it's something personal (will tell u to put it on the discussion forum)
He was really bad, his slides are pretty basic and his classes are really boring. A lot of his slides are empty and he does not even go over them in class. Statistics is a really hard class and he makes it worse. I had to learn everything by myself and he does not go over a lot of stuff that appears on assignments and exams
Davood is a great prof, compared to other profs in Stats I doubt you will find anyone better. You learn through following along with his practice questions and from the assignments every couple weeks. The midterm was tough (but created by the course coordinator) but the final seemed a fair bit easier.
Davood was super fun and somehow made stats lectures entertaining. He has nice slides but during lectures mostly goes over examples which is super helpful. TA Andrew Scarffe was awesome and def one of the best TAs I've ever had. Midterm and final were multiple choice. Assignments a bit tedious.
Worst prof ever. His lectures are super long and confusing with over 100 slides in each PowerPoint. Exam was hard and long. Avoid him at all cost.
Professor Astaraky is really funny and he tries to help students whenever he can, his lectures are good too since he goes over things with detail and relates them to assignments and exams as well.
I love this prof. He's very funny in class and teaches the materials well. His tests are all very fair, 100% taught in class. He gives detail on what's going to be on the exam to get you prepared. The course itself is challenging but he made it fun.
Good prof, although I personally think the course is not very difficult, the professor still spends a lot of time explaining different examples and is very responsible.
Prof Astaraky is a funny guy and knows his stuff. Good lecturer but often overcomplicates the material. Course is difficult but the marks are fairly distributed with 40% for assignments 20% midterm and 40% final. Midterm is fair but final is tough so try your best on the assignments and midterm and you'll end up with a good grade overall.
really good laid back prof, he tries to help students out as much as possible. Easy to listen to in lectures, midterm and final were fair, definitely recommend taking him for Stats.
The worst prof. RUN! I had him for stat 2 and got an A+ (because I NEVER used his slides or attended his class, I used other prof slides and videos LOL) // Taking this class with him this term. He Never goes through any basics. Let you figure it out yourself. Self study is better
By far one of the worst teachers I've had, he never got back to my emails ( it was an online course ) and was not helpful outside class. He's not clear in his way of delivering the material and is not helpful in case you misunderstand something. The class was already hard and he made it worse! Do not recommend this prof at all
An OK prof. It's clear he knows the field well but isn't the best at delivering the content. He usually solves problems during class (helpful), but you'll need to teach yourself the formulas and context of when they're used. Midterm was fair, final was tough. The 4 assignments range from easy to tough.
He is a decent professor and taking this course in the summer definitely made the overall experience significantly easier from his point of view. Lectures can become quite dry but it's expected during a 3 hour lecture. Exams and assignments are extremely fair and he lets you know of the content to be expected, so there aren't any surprises.
