Structures course clearly, but is harsh with grading and comments. No room for anyone else's opinion except her own and those of her favorites!A little like Dr.Jeckle and Mrs.Hyde..be careful!

I loved her class, she is a really cool person but don't ****her off, she does not play when it comes to plagiarism, or copying papers, her work is not that difficult she expects you to learn and expects your writing to improve on each paper.

She is a very hard teacher, but I really like her! She's straight to the point and teaches very well. Don't make her mad though, she is quite intimidating! She grades really hard, so write your essays well. She is a very fun teacher, not boring at all.

My favorite class this semester. If you try, you'll get a good grade but the work isn't hard. Class discussions are really fun and she's a great funny teacher.

AWESOME! Her class is the best ever! Class discussions are hilarious and very enlightening. It's not hard unless you make it hard. You learn a lot about men and women. Dawn is the best teacher at State!!!!

She's incredibly straightforward. Don't mess around, or you will be destroyed. She's a great teacher, and class was never boring, but she was a really tough grader. She has extremely specific requirements for the essays, so watch out.

Ms. Brown is a really cool teacher. I really enjoyed the class discussions. Worth waking up at 8AM to attend class. Make sure to stick to the prompt and you'll do fine. Come to class prepared. She has her favorites.

She's a really cool teacher, but I can definitely understand how some people think she's mean. She definitely plays favorites. My best advice to anyone taking her class, is to PARTICIPATE ALOT!

the class is somewat challenging, only if you dun go to class, read material, or work on your essay. the essay are ez, as long as u follow n listen to wat she wants in them. there are quiz for reading. but they're ez. she is funny at times

Easy "B", read two books and write 3 papers. Most difficult paper is given first. Fair grader, but doesn't put up with slackers. come to class and do the work and you will get an "A" or a "B".

she says shes open to ideas as long as you can defend them but this is not true. she teaches okay but only because she tells you how to basically do the essay but if its not done the right way (her way) you wont get the A

Awesome teacher. She comes off strong but its bc she wants u to succeed. She tells u straight up how it is, thats one thing I liked. I hated doing essays but in her class she breaks it down so nicely, its cake. We read amazing stories. The way she explains them is crazy bc she brings out things youd never notice, its inspirational. Take her.

She's moody, but can be enjoyable. She can be impatient, but she has a genuine enthusiasm for the course. She will help you during her office hours if you have trouble. Despite her sometimes abrasive personality, I think she really does want to see students succeed. She puts more effort into teaching than most students put into learning.

Very Clear with instructions. She is also outgoing and understanding. Easy to talk to.

Not so shabby of a class. She will tear your work apart from inside to out, but still give you an A if you followed her prompt. The assignments were a bore, but since the class focused on "writing in different genres" it was understandable. DON'T buy the book, check it out from the lib a few weeks before you need it!!! You use it one day / semester

one of those teachers that some kids will hate but others will love. she was pretty okay to me. has a bit of an attitude though. GO TO CLASS. it will help you a lot because the notes she gives you in class are exactly what she expects from you on the essays. & go to office hours for help because she will really help clarify things for you!

I hated her at first and by the end of the semester she was my favorite. She's hard but that's just because she actually wants you to get something out of her class. She's a wonderful person and it works wonders to go in during office hours! If you want to become a better writer, she's perfect, if you want a slacker class and an easy A she's not..

dawn is a teacher who everyone hates in the begining of the semester but she soon grows on you.she is a hard teacher but gives you every thing you need to know. be sure to go to class everyday bevcause you could miss alot.

At first, I absolutely hated Dawn and her class. However in the end, I learned a lot from her class. She is very straightforward and wants things done correctly the first time, everytime. Go to class everyday, as she does incorporate attendance into your grade and gives small quizzes almost everyday. She's hard, but you learn a lot!

She is one of those professors who knows what she wants from her class. She can seem demanding and rude at some points but everything she does in class is so helpful in writing your papers. Missing just one day of class will leave you behind in your paper. Her teaching made me a better writer.

She is a really good teacher. I would recommend you take her for RWS 200. She seems rude and gets mad a lot but she just wants it her way. She will help you out with your writing and she gives you a lot of days off to work on your essays.

No need to be RUDE to students!! I was astonished by how she treated some students. Thankfully she left me alone!!If she wasn't so rude, she would be a good teacher. Big chip on her shoulder!

HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! I have never seen such a RUDE person! She has no business teaching! Don't take her unless you are doing research on abusive personalities! I couldn't stand watching her abuse people!! Ms. B what happened to you as a child? Didn't anyone teach you about treating others as you would like to be treated?

Took class couple of semesters ago. Loved her teaching style. No mickey-mousing around here! She tells you exactly what she expects. No misunderstandings. It takes a mature person to value her teaching style. She knows her material very well and it is very valuable!

I took this class only because I had to but Ms. Brown made it interesting and easy. She walked us thru every assignment, was helpful, gave constructive feedback, and made it easy to write the papers and pass the final. For those who say she's rude...she's not there to babysit, she's there to teach and expects adults in her class.

She is a really good teacher!i took her mwf class at 10 & she was really nice. im actually shocked to see her reviews. she was very clear on what she expected a little bit of a hard graded, but i got a B at the end. if you want an easy grade this is not the class, she expects you to be prepared to learn. cool teacher!

Very knowledgeable, 3 essays, one presentation and reading quizzes. Essays are challenging just do well the the 1st essay and the other two are a blast. Class is not hard but you do have to proof-read and read the reading assignments to do well. Presentation was a piece of cake. If you really want to learn take her class. Useful information!!!

Eh. She's alright. I was pretty bummed she gave me a B in the class because BEFORE you do all the assignments, she makes them sound very fun, but unless you do all the essays in a specific format, you won't do as good as you hoped.

This class is really not that hard but SHE IS the RUDEST teacher I HAVE EVER encountered. She is nice one day and snaps her fingers in your face, not hear anything you have to say, and belittle you the next. The class itself is not tough, she is a tough grader, but its how rude she is that makes you wish the dean was sitting right behind you.

I feel bad about the comments listed here. Professor Brown is very tough and strict in her class but she really knows her stuff. She really wants her students to do well. Meet with her in office hours and she will tell you exactly what she wants on her papers. Went from C to a B in one paper!

Want a good grade? --->Go to class. quizzes you on the readings [DO THEM]...Follow the prompts on each essay, come prepared to the workshops,and go to her office hours or meet with her after class

She is very helpful but expects to much for so little time. It felt over whelming with all the writing of essays. If you dont do your work she doesnt want you in the class so you need to make sure to do every essay even when it isnt due.

This class is easy if you attend. she does 3 presentations for every segment which are pointless and all she cares about is how creative it is rather than content. Pretty easy grader for the most part. 4 big assignments and then about maybe 10 or so in class quizzes. very straight froward.

Attendance was mandatory b/c of the random quizzes, but she is not as bad as everyone seems to write. She is very straightforward in what she wants and will help you if you ask for it or go to her office hours. Trust me you will learn alot & will improve in your writing! Just go to class, do the rdgs & get your essays done.

She only really has 3 expectations: show up, do your work, interact. She's a tough grader on the essays, but going to her office hours helps wonders because she'll edit the whole thing. She's extremely straightforward with her lectures, but she can be very opinionated. I did learn a lot, and I would take the class again with her.

To all you students in 2009, you are all ungrateful, negative and don't value education. Professor Brown has been by far the best teacher I have ever had. In all my years of trying to learn how to write proper papers, she has been the only one to teach me anything. She is strict and rigid for a reason. writing needs to be that way. JG

Really good professor she doesn't dumb down the course if you're taking her class at a 2 year college so it's pretty challenging. She tries to make the essays interesting and lets you stay after class so that she can 'grade' your essays before they're due. Good class overall expect to write long essays.

3 assigned papers, a few quizzes, some readings. Overall, not a huge workload if you don't put off the papers until the last minute. She's very passionate about the subjects she teaches, and there are a lot of interesting topics! Only downside was that you have to present at least once, which I feel shouldn't have been part of the class.

Prof. Brown can seem a bit intimidating at first, but she is honestly an amazing professor! If you go to her office hours, you will definitely receive the help you need to do well on essays. She tells you exactly what she expects from you on essays in class, so no use in skipping. Participate! Quizzes are easy As as long as you study.

Papers aren't that challenging if you are a good writer and do exactly what is expected of you. She expects good writing. That said, it's important to go to class because lectures are where she gives you all your paper writing materials. 4 interesting essays and some easy quizzes. She will like you if you engage and try. Participation matters!

Professor Brown is really not that bad! She has a syllabus which will tell you when there will be a quiz and when homework is due. She usually gives an outline for each essay that she expects the students to follow exactly. Mandatory attendance is a must to even pass the class. You will be using keys for writers. She easy to get a B in if you try.

Everyone says she grades tough, and she does. What they don't mention is that they likely don't follow the CLEAR grading criteria. If you follow the clear instruction and use her constructive feedback you will do just fine. She is a genuinely nice person who appreciates effort and respect, for her and each other. No effort equals bad grades.

Some students might not like her grading since it is tough, but she just wants the best for you. This is the only class so far that felt like a real college class. You read on your own and then take a short quiz after. She's strict on plagiarism so be careful. She's also very funny and tells modernized jokes (not dad jokes) so she was fun to have.

She's an amazing professor. She gives you a handout on the first day of class showing all the due dates & topics you'll be discussing. She assigns read short articles & a few pages from the book. The next class day, there will be a quiz. The answers to her quizzes are simply in the reading!! You write 3 papers & do 1 group project. Participate!!!

If you want to pass her class all you have to do is follow the syllabus. First participate in class or you will lose points. Second read the materials she give you so you can pass the quiz. Third write your essay exactly how she tells you to write it and do be a over achiever. Finally go to her office hours. She an easy B if your a decent writer.

Do not be a over achiever. Do exactly what she tells you to put in the essay and if your confuse go to her office hours. If you show that you care to pass the class you will pass. The class is not hard and you can get a B if you put in effort on the essays. This class is not for entitle students that do not want to put in any work.
