Intense, Intersesting, Worthwhile, but Challenging.
She is very tough and very smart. A challenging class, but I enjoyed it because I felt like I learned so much.
She is a great teacher, but it takes a while to get used to her conceptual teaching methods and testing. provides an interesting perspective on material and i also learned A LOT.
Extremely hard to understand and the words she writes on the board is her only little style of shorthand so its impossible to understand. Tests are unbearable. 2 People made an A on the first test out of 45+ Most people made C's or less
Amazingly difficult teacher. Had to teach myself everything. Can never read her writing on board, she knows and refuses to improve writing.
Easily one of the deadly classes at TCU. I recommed that you be well prepared for this class, especially tests. The exams are quiet scary for the weak hearted.
She is very difficult but you learn the material. Only several students will make an A in the class.
NEVER EVER TAKE THIS COURSE IF SHE IS TEACHING IT. IT IS NOT EASY AND IT IS NOT FUN. YOU WILL NOT LEARN IF SHE IS TEACHING.

This lady is a horrible teacher. She is very inaccessible so she can never help you outside of class. She does not return e-mails. Her handwriting is atrocious, she knows it and refuses to correct it. She is very hard to understand because of her acce
She can't write, you can't understand what she says, and for this class half of the material wasn't even in the textbook. She expects that half of the class will be failing come finals time, so she gives the option of a "one-shot" 4.5 hr. final
She is not as hard as everyone says she is. I think she has been an excellent prof. She uses a lot of math, so if you're not a math person you might have some trouble.
I think personally very nice lady..but i SUCK at math and she does use alot of math...so i dont recommend her unless you like and are good at it. lots of application..if you just came out of butlers class your in for a shock ;) *cough* actual work ;)

She is the hardest teacher at TCU! If you want to make better than an C then dont take this class! Nice lady when she wants to be!
Very diffiult class. No textbook, only articles. If everyone earns a D in the class she has no problem giving eveyrone a D. Attendance not mandatory, but recommended bec the articles are confusing. 2 tests and 2 hw assignments, that's it. if you can get around this class, do it
Worst teacher I have ever had. Made my semester twice as hard.
For those undergrads taking her micro class: good luck. She is a genius who will move at an accelerated pace, talk about material not in the book, and has possibly the worst handwritting on this earth. She also can be rude if you don't understand what she is saying. Her final is HELL.

BEST Teacher ever!!
Loved Her! You must go to every single class to do well in the class. I got an A, so it is very possible to do well in her class. Do the bonus questions, its a lot of work but worth the extra points. Don't take this course if you aren't willing to go to class. She is a awesome prof though!
Go to every class. Do the bonus questions, and start early with the outside readings. Read the textbook because the lectures move fast and can be confusing. Learn to take shorthand (but thorough) notes. Ask for help, get tutoring. Study like hell to make a B. If you're not a brilliant econ major, lose all delusions of an A.
Who the heck gave those high ratings? They must be her (the professor). This class is impossible and not easy or fair by any means.
Intro microeconomics - hard class. She lectures a lot and takes tests and quizzes from lectures and the text, so make sure to go to every class. If you do the extra credit assignments, she will grade a little easier come finals time. She is not the best but will help you out if you take the time to go meet her.
If your not an econ major do not take anything with theory in the description!! She really knows what she is talking about, making it somewhat intimidating to ask questions. 'HW' is not heavy, just the usual 5-8 pages... She tries to be nice but fails, this is a hard class.
Okay, this woman is a genius! However, teaching is far from a gift she has. She explains complicated examples with even more complicated examples. She talks the whole time. I had to teach myself the material. Good luck if you take it. I would advise you to take someone else - especially if you want to make at least B
She is an awesome person, and SO intelligent! However, she told me that I had a good grasp of the test material, and I made a C in the class. Definitely ruined my 4.0 this year! 9 A's and 1 C! Take a different Professor - try Lovett. Heard his class was MUCH easier, and my friends made an A with minimal effort. I made a C with 6 hour study groups!
Don't take any class with this professor! Her lectures make no sense & her ideas are very scatter brained. She's a super hard grader and the book is no help. Tests are based mostly on lecture, though reading will help you understand. I advise against her unless youre up for a major challenge - I'm an A/B student, and I almost failed this class.
IntroMacroIf you are going to take this class, I'd recommend that you already have an understanding of macro. She's a grad-level teacher and she teaches this intro class like it's a review. She's very smart, just not a great teacher.
SHe is the hardest teacher i have ever taken. This class ruined my GPA, I got a C only because the final was a paper...i failed every test and quiz because i understood nothing she said...Do NOt take her especially if you are a freshman it will ruin your semester!
HARD CLASS. Came in with prior understanding to economics so I was able to bear it. Most class struggled. Never there for office hours. Very Complicated and very dry. Wouldn't recommend it.
shes horrible
Great Class. You will learn a lot, but expect to work. This class is not for slackers.
She is very hard to get a hold of. If you email her wait about 3 days for her to email you back. Overall the class wasn't that hard, but it can be challenging at times.
Dont take a class with Dr. Elliot unless you enjoy working your ass off for a B. You cant understand half of the stuff she says and her examples are terrible. She seems to go out of her way to teach you the hard way to do things rather than the most efficient. I hated this class
she is from jamaica, her english is jst fine...she goes extremely fast...and if she knows your name she will call you out during class!!!
This is not a teacher you should take if you are not willing to work. If you are willing to work and you have a thirst for knowledge of economics then this might be the best teacher you will every have. Absolutely brilliant teacher.
Brilliant, most definitely. She is a genius. However, that doesn't mean she is a good teacher. She is very unclear in her teaching and her handwriting is very hard to read, yet she refuses to correct it. When I emailed her questions or wanted to set up appointments, she never got back to me until the third time I emailed her. Avoid.
This teaacher is way too difficult and is not able to teach the subject, though she is very smart, she just cant teach it
She is truly a genius. Unfortunately, she talks in the language of economics. Considering it is an INTRO class, it makes it kind of hard. You will really have to work hard in this class but she is willing to help you. USE HER OFFICE HOURS/EMAIL HER! Know the concepts for her tests. HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!!
Hard teacher. Willing to help if you have questions. DO ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS. She doesn't care if she has to explain something again, she wants you to understand it. Her accent is entertaining but it does not hinder your understanding her. Read the book, study hard for the tests, do the homework and you can make a B. Really work for an A.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. RUDE. MEAN. DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TEACH. WORK YOUR ASS OFF FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO KILL YOURSELF.
She's great, I love her. Yes, she's really hard, but she'll help you - everything you need to do well, she gives you. But you HAVE to do the work, she will not do it for you. If you're lazy, don't take her class - in fact, don't even be an econ major. I do more work than anybody I know, but I love what I do.
One of the best! Take this class if you enjoy a challenge. The people that complain about how she is "hard to get ahold of" obviously never went to her office. I suggest taking contending perspectives otherwise you will be lost. Ask lots of questions, READ, and goto her office hours. One of the most rewarding/challenging classes I took at TCU.
she completely does her own thing and it does not go along with the book at all. SO CONFUSING! Do not take this class!
Has an inability to teach college students refrains from using anything other than elevated diction, told our class that she did not enjoy teaching us and that we were boring
She is a good professor. Very helpful and grades farily; she is also flexible in grading. Very helpful,go to class, and takes notes you will do fine. If your lazy you better take a different class, you can do well you just have to do the work.
She is very difficult to understand. She contradicts herself multiple times within a class. attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade. thought i understood micro going in, but ended up pass/failing class. very hard, tests are extremely hard!
I took her microeconomics class the first semester of my freshman year and it was a class I dreaded going to. Her lectures are almost completely understandable and she writes on the board without looking. I stopped going to class after a while but make sure if you take her class you go in the beginning so that you can find your small group
Not an easy class, but she is willing to explain concepts if you ask. The text book will help. On tests, it was sometimes difficult to tell exactly what she was looking for on the short answers.
Hard, and difficult to understand. I took honors micro with her, she didn't make much sense and her grading was erratic. Get on her good side in the beginning. She is difficult to get a hold of, and I had class during her one hour of office hours a week. For intro micro, just take Butler.
Her lectures were almost impossible to follow. Attendance was required, but if you get on her bad side it's impossible to do good in that class. Tests are difficult. Not a fun class.
Awful teacher, lectures make no sense. She purposely makes her lectures difficult to understand only to make herself seem intellectual. Took macro summer school at a community college this summer, and had a phenomenal teacher compared to Elliot
I had Elliot for an honors micro econ class. I LOVED her! She really cares about her students. You have to show that you care in the beginning.. she'll work as hard as you do. The A is there if you get on her good side and stay there. I learned a LOT in this class. She was my favorite professor of the semester!
if you want to keep your sanity, do not take this class...please
Very hard to understand and follow - read the text book!! The book will make studying make more sense. Homework is very important, make sure you take that seriously and get a good grade.
Prof. Elliott is very difficult to understand. It is an intro class, but is taught as if you know a lot. Her tests do not always match the book, and she doesn't explain the concepts in class. She likes certain students and will show her favoritism. Often goes on tangents that don't relate to the material. If you can take another professor, do so.
So here's the deal with this class... One of the most difficult classes I have ever taken, BUT if you are willing to work, then you will be rewarded with a superior knowledge of Microecon. Here's a hint: Read the book--OFTEN and MULTIPLE TIMES. Another hint: REFINE YOUR GROUP HOMEWORK TO GET ALL THE POINTS. In this class, every point matters.
Hard for a freshmen micro class. Must study and work hard on your own to understand and succeed because her lectures are confusing.
Completely brilliant. Best teacher I ever had! The only people who have difficulties understanding this class are obviously not smart enough to go to a four year college.
Terrible teacher. She made micro more difficult than I ever thought possible. She writes her own assignments and her english never ever makes sense. She is a terribly hard grader and her homework assignments are next to impossible. Nice lady but awful class. Avoid at all costs.
Absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. Her lectures are confusing and she gets mad when you take notes, and she will not help when you go to her office. First test for a freshmen intro class was 20 pages long. Does not really care about students either, there is less that 30 in the class she might know 4 peoples names.
Awful teacher. Homework is long and counts way too much towards final grade. Test questions are unclear and often misgraded. Expects way too much out of a freshman econ class; treats it like a grad class. Doesn't care to help and won't ever meet outside of class to help. Stay away!
Tough teacher.Heavy accent. Poor at explaining things. Boring. Lots of HW. MEdium difficulty of tests.
This class was definitely a challenge and you needed to attend class, thoroughly do homework, and read each chapter in order to receive an A. But Dr. Elliot is so nice and wants to help you if you try. She will always meet with you if you need help or any questions. Probably my favorite professor so far.
Although difficult to understand the rants she can go on sometimes, she provides you with a very deep understanding on microeconomics and will be willing to help your grade if you put in the effort. Make sure to read the book and an A is defintely possible.
worst teacher ever
The way she teaches is terrible. Avoid her at all costs.
Does not teach well at all. Handwriting is god awful and she doesn't even try to make it better. Very lazy, doesn't use ecollege. Says her teachings are solely from the book but expects you to know things that she doesn't teach. She should just not be teaching. Avoid her at ALL COSTS!!
Exellent teacher- definitely makes you work for your grade. If you do the work, have an interest in economics, and desire to succeed in her class, she will help you in every way she can. I loved taking a class with her, didn't get an amazing grade in her class, and would do it all again if given the chance.
She doesn't even give us the right due date for things and changes them randomly. She is an extremely difficult teacher. Could be a great class but she ruins it.
My favorite teacher at TCU so far. Her lectures are brilliant and she explains the material very well. She is a little disorganized so you need to stay on top of stuff but if you show an interest and put in the effort, she will help you a ton!
Some of her PowerPoint were confusing and hard to follow. If you put in effort it will be worth it. I think she gives out 8 points of extra credit on your overall grade if you look for it. She loves it when people work in groups. I recommend talking to the people in your class and forming a study group, it helps!
Unorganized. Changes dates constantly. Can also be very difficult and rude.
This class was the worst teaching experience I have had at TCU. I'll give the benefit of the doubt as we were online most of the semester, but she lectured heavily about extraneous information and changed due dates constantly. It was a very confusing class all around and I would not recommend it to anyone wanting to learn.
Conceptually the class isnt difficult but she is the WORST prof i've ever had at TCU. her class consist of powerpoints that make no sense and instead of teaching/explaining she asks questions about the content then gets mad when no one knows answers becuase she has yet to teach us it. never replies to emails or helps outside of class. DO NOT TAKE
The WORST professor at TCU. Powerpoints make no sense, she doesn't answer emails (I had a family member pass and got nothing in return from her), her lectures are more like tangents on unrelated material and how she feels about the subject. My classmates and I brought this all to her attention and then she proceeded to tell us how it was our fault.
70 + reviews and 0% would take again. There is a reason for that. I seriously think I have a better shot at scoring a 36 on the ACT in German than passing a test in this class. Or passing my behind the wheel drivers test after TXR bottomless mimosas. Sitting in this class was the worst form of hazing I received on campus behind being waterboarded.
I think I have a better chance of emailing Mac Miller and getting a response back than emailing her and getting a response. #RIP Mac tho.
She absolutely hates her job, students and economics. Has no passion towards teaching and students. Do not even try to have a conversation with her because its literally like talking to a wall. I don't know who make her the department chair, and on what bases. never heard anyone say anything nice about her. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
She implemented a health care aspect to our Intro to Micro Class. Her quizzes and tests are impossible and it seems like she doesn't care about the well being of her students. Her lectures are boring and repetitive and to do well in the class you need to learn all of the content on your own.
To start, My high school basketball coach was a better economics teacher than this lady. Her lectures are repetitive and disorganized along with her "notes" she provides, which are just sloppy PowerPoints. Ger ready to learn the vast majority of the content on your own, because it is the only way you will make it through this class.
The class is structured around nonsensical lectures where she talks for 80 minutes, occasionally writing random drawings on the board. The tests are extremely hard, and lack clear directions. I would avoid her and this class, I would guess that no one in the class will end up with an A because it is just set up that way.
AWFUL!!!! stay away. its all I can say. need to practice Econ to be good at it, and you never do practice problems. quizzes and tests are impossible
Dr. Elliot get's a bad rap from most of these reviews, but I think she's an interesting, caring, knowledgeable prof. Yes, her email skills are not prompt. But she's a good explainer and most grades (tests & projects) are free response with 2-4 questions to just write what you know. I liked her and would take her again.
She likes to teach by lecture only, it is a very straight forward class. There are 3 tests, an online quiz a week and a final. All tests are allowed to be taken online, sometimes open note. It is tough material but straight forward and can take online, which helps grades.
Lecture heavy class which makes class very boring. The quizzes and tests are all pretty easy. She is a good person but does not teach the material very good. Quizzes and test are online and quizzes can be taken anywhere. Talk about the material with friends to better understand it.
Terrible teacher, do not take this class. 3 test that are hard and the wording is very confusing. You get no feedback and she doesn't go over them. She yaps all class about unrelated info and will play a ted talk for 30 mins at the end. There are so many slides of material and formulas she just don't go over so get ready to teach yourself.
