i loved her man! she was the coolest professor i've had so far and she actually got me interested in the course. she'd always answer questions and was really nice about it too. the class was easy; lots of reading but it's not terrible. take her!

Make sure you go to class and spend a lot of time on the assignments - don't worry, there aren't many. Great command of the material, but don't mess around with her because she's a tough grader. Even still, I got an A. Nice lady too. Good class.

She is a great teacher! I had enjoyed her class. She is an expert on the subject of Medieval Europe. Dr. Hayes is also very enthusiastic on the subject. If you are a history major, I would recommend her as a professor.

Prof. Hayes is far and away the finest example of what a teacher ought to be. She is attentive to her students, she knows her material incredibly well and it shows, and she is /very/ approachable and friendly. I reccomend no other professor more highly.

Good professor but she is a bit boring and she goes kind of fast when she gives lectures.. or is it that I'm too slow?.. besides I hate history.. (dont buy your books for this class.)

Wonderful professor. knows her stuff. 1 paper, 1 oral presentation, and a final. she is the sweetest woman ever,if other professors at MSU were like this then it would actually be a great school to go to.always willing to help,very understanding. take her you won't regret it.

Great professor, her lectures are long and never expect to get out of class early, but they are interesting. Write down every word because the first 4 quizes will be just on her notes. Dont worry about textbooks you wont need them. Participate even if its for the dumbest thing, just raise your hand.

She is everything a professor should be! Her lectures take the whole class, & you will take at least 4 pages of notes each time, but its so interesting! You have 4 quizzes the first half of the semester based on her notes/a video, 1 oral presentation,& a final test, which she sends to you in advance

She is a great professor. Understanding, fun, and is excited everyday she comes to class. Her energy seems to rub off on the students. Pay close attention though, b/c her quizzes are based on her lectures. You won't regret taking her class, if I could have her as a teacher again, I WOOULD.

great teacher but be careful.. if she sees you're not paying attention to this boring video she will get her revenge by making her quiz on the video instead of the lecture. all in all an extremely easy class and she is VERY ENTHUSIASTIC.

dr. hayes is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about what she teaches. Lots of note-taking. She takes attendance.participate. She makes you bring in the Sources of the West book a couple times but never The West - don't waste your money. Know your stuff for the oral pres. or she'll question you.

She's very nice. Lectures with note taking can be a little annoying but I've had much worse. You have to do little bit of everything in this class to get a good grade (presentation, quizzes, participate, final exam). But the index card for final exam was a huge plus.

long classes, lots of notes. a movie paper, a presentation, and final essay exam on all course material. loves detail. not too hard, but must cram in as much info into assignments u do. class atmosphere is open and inviting, learned and had fun. take her, she's good for atleast a B+.

awesome professor, took a subject i was not interested in and made it fun for a whole semester, so few professors can do that. very helpful, and extremly nice. one of the best teachers I have ever taken and any school!

awesome prof..always there if u need her..deeply cares about all of her students..only bad thing is she crams in all major work at the end of the semester..seemed like u had an oral presentation, an essay, and the final all in the last 3 weeks

She's really awesome and the only four quizzes are really easy (multiple choice.) Just take notes and pay attention (yes, even to the videos) and do the presentation. She's really good for help if you need it. But she makes the class fly by and it's good to get it over with with her.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! Shes very patient and kind... Lectures are long but she tends to make them interesting. She loves what she teaches very much and you see it in her.. The first four Quizes are all on the notes study them well you will get a 100 on all of them. Presentation and Final! Thats it!

For the summer pre-session, there are three multiple choice/true false tests equally weighted with class participation. You read a chapter each day and watch a movie. In groups we went to answer questions from the book and went over them. She gives you time to study before the test afte she tells you what to study.

Dr. hayes is 1 of the best profs. at msu. very easy grader. 5 quizzes, an easy presentation and a final. lots of note taking but she makes the course interesting and is a really sweet lady.

If you firmly believe that studying is an intrinsic part of school, don't take her class. She often acquires complicity with undedicated students and alters the final exam to their own asinine liking. With that said, I could only wonder if she forgot what it's like to be a diligent student.

Hayes is probably one of the best teachers i have ever taken. She really has the students in mind. A lot of notes, but so what? A couple quizes, maybe a presentation, a final...thats it. Very good grader. Shes easy, not becasue shes a push-over, but becasue her lectures are interesting. A+++++

Dr. Hayes is great. Her lectures are always interesting. A couples quizzes, a presentation, and a final. Just study your notes and you will be set.

I took this class, because I had to to graduate, and I am so happy I took it with Prof. Hayes. She gives a LOT of notes, but she is an extremely fair and loveable professor. By far the BEST professor I've had at MSU!

AMAZING TEACHER, easy, boring lectures, but very easy and fair. fall asleep in her lectures... only had her for 1/2 semester, had a baby - quizes every week before she left, final, 1 on 1 oral presentation - very easy, and participation.. all 25% of grade... would take her again if i could

Such a sweet lady! Unfortunately she left in October to have a baby, leaving us with online lectures that no one listened to. Literally, in class, the quizzes were 10, 8th grade-level multiple choice questions. You can use an index card for the final, most students snuck in three or four index cards with all the questions. Def. take her!!!

I absolutely love professor hayes, she's kind,helpful and understanding. she has a very mom-like personality, and with a great sense of humor! her class is interesting and she lets you know ahead of time what is expected for quizzes and projects. its very easy to do well in her class, definitely take her! she's my favorite professor at MSU so far

A very nice lady and professor. Always willing to help and offer advice. However, if you take her for senior sem, be prepared to read a TON because she piles on the reading to the point of ridiculousness. I've had her before and I would still definitely recommend her!

She is a very nice lady and very smart and she an expert in her field. She is always willing to answer questions however she does not like to repeat her self twice. She uses this thing called the Iclick to watch for attendance in class and its how you earn most of your point. There are no quizzes and she does not give an outline for the final.

Great class you don't have to write a 25 paper in her class at all. We have to do a 15 min power point that u must do at the end of year. Also a weekly blog post that's it. Trust me a easy class with little to no work. Its better then doing a 25 page paper cause there is none in her class. Take her for a easy A just as long as you come to class.

Great professor! Dr. Hayes knows a lot about medieval history which is obviously why she teaches the course. Very straight forward with the coursework: 5-7 page paper, 15 minute powerpoint, and a final. Great course, highly recommended.

NEVER take one of her short online courses. This woman obviously has no respect for her students' time, which is evident based on the near 20 hours I spend sitting at my computer each week, doing work for this class. What a horrible, expensive, and frustrating waste of time.

This class is a waste of time! As a gen ed it is TOO MUCH work & time consuming. I am taking the online class & only chose this professor because of her ratings on here but obviously I was bamboozled! I wish I dropped the class when I had the chance

Hardest.class.ever! Its an online class and she gives massive amount of reading assignments, lecture powerpoint is always at least 45 mins. boring videos and short clips almost every week and discussion board assignments. I wish i dropped this class. already failing!

It was an online class. I guess easy class if you don't work and go to school so you have time to read and get only a week to watch videos in the libary.I feel she is very unfair The class consisted of one online quiz a week with only ten mins!!!!to finish...then a final at the end of the semester..

Dr. Hayes is probably one of the best teachers i have had at MSU. She actually wants to get to know you, unlike most professors who are simply there for grant money. Her classes are very interesting and not too hard. She made Medieval history exciting while being informative. Def. take her. you will love her.

DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS!!! it was the hardest class ever. She give 10+ hours of work every week. She does not want to help you and all of her emails come off sounding so rude and cold. Her powerpoint lectures are beyond boring and there is a quiz that you dont have enough time for every week. The work is too much for this gen ed class

As others have said, she gives enough work in her online classes to equal TWO regular classes! Since I happen to love History, I found the subject matter interesting and put my heart into the work---one of the hardest A's I ever got! A quiz almost each week and too many of the questions were either somewhat unclear, tricky, or not directly covere

When i registered for her class it did not indicate that it was a hybrid course. Her textbook is SUPER EXPENSIVE. $120 which comes with a package. You HAVE to buy in school book store or you are screwed. She gives work that is equivalent to 3 classes. Its ridiculous. You have to listen to her podcasts, read 50+ pgs, watch 2hr+ videos EACH week!

Excellent professor! Her course is not easy, but it is managable if you do the work. I took the online course and always rec'd a prompt response from her anytime I had a question/comment. There's a test weekly to confirm that you've read/understood the lesson, not hard tho (it's an online course so you need to confirm that your actually working).

Have fun being completely on your own in this class. You email her with a question or concern and comes off extremely rude and cold. She does reversed psychology in her emails with responses pretty much like "What do YOU think the answer is?" The work load is not the problem, it actually is doable if you put your mind to it. She has no sympathy.

WHAT A DOLL!! I LOVED Prof. Hayes. During the hurricane aftermath she made the best effort to keep in touch with us, was always available for help, and made our senior papers not a nightmare! I'd take her for anything, hands down one of the sweetest professors at MSU. Even had us watching Lord of The Rings on the last day of class =)

I took her study abroad/online hybrid. It was a huge vacation for her. She had no answers to my questions. Gave me a week to write my senior paper and graded extremely unfairly when compared to classmates. Get on her good side and suck up to this woman and she will grade you much better. This lady bombed my gpa but the experience was well worth it.

GREAT GPA BOOSTER! Very simple and easy online course. Very low level work load. I spent next to zero time on the class and got an A- . And for someone with a 2.3 GPA that is HUGE. Barely anything to do throughout the course and nothing difficult at all.

Dr. Hayes is very passionate about the course content and there is no work for Euro Medieval Civ until late in the semester. That being said, attendance is mandatory to the point that if you miss for a parents death she asks you to withdraw, even if you're due to graduate. Heartless, and insensitive don't do it unless you can guarantee no absences.

Dr. Hayes is extremely passionate about Medieval European Civ, but my only issue is that there's so much content, she has to go fast, and without too much detail. There's a simple Power Point presentation, a short 5-7 pg paper and a final. She's also easy to approach and offered to look at my academic progress to help me graduate. Would recommend.

Her online Western Civ class requires so much reading, assignments, and videos that are always an hour long or more!! Listening to her lectures are horrible, she says 'umhhh' and coughs every 2 seconds!!! Too much work don't take it.

Extreme amount of workload that she gives that is completely unnecessary. Im currently taking this class online. We have Monday-Friday to complete 4 modules. Each module is a lecture of about 50 minutes long and when she is feeling happy she gives you 2 50 minute lectures + 40 pages to read :).

A very nice woman; motherly and professional. This was a senior seminar course so it wasn't a walk in the park, but she was relatively clear cut in the assignments. Considerably easygoing on grading as I deviated from the requirements multiple times and still did well enough. She made what I thought would be an awful course somewhat interesting.

DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! She is so quick to take off points, but not to add. Her coursework is very difficult. You get 1 hour long videos to watch along with a 20 question quiz that is only 10 mins long. So be ready to take really good notes or else you will fail the quiz. She also assigns readings along with videos.

I agree that she does give an awful lot of coursework for an online class, and they're not the most interesting. However, she was always very sweet to me and easy to each out to. She's an average grader, just make sure you get the textbooks and watch the lectures. Unlike most online prof's, she's interactive which I appreciated & enjoyed.

Took her for my senior seminar class. Very nice, caring, and available. She also knows her subject inside and out, and seems to be truly in love with it. I wouldnt necessarily call her an easy grader, but if you put the effort in, youll do well.

would give lectures and videos that would add up to two hours sometimes more and would give us over 4o pages to read, answer questions, and take quizzes. the quizzes were horrible because they would be about unnecessary things that she spoke about in the lectures that you wouldn't even think to take notes on.

If you are a student who doesn't procrastinate, the amount and length of the class material will be manageable. Some quizzes not approx. equally about more than 1 material. I mean that one of the quizzes I took was mostly about the textbook I did not read and not about documentary .Another quiz about second textbook and not mainly about documentary

Took medieval europe online with her. Huge mistake. Extreme workload with readings. Spends the whole class in student project presentations. Two books required when the readings couldve been put online. Youre better off not trying to email her if youre going to be out, she doesnt care. I was out 3 times and my attendance grade went down to a 79

It goes without saying she is the most friendliest professor I have ever come across. She is extremely lenient with the grading, and I honestly believe you have to go out of your way to fail. Very pleasant. However, I wish I learned more from her class, her topics were all over the place and she can go off-topic from the course content.

Forget this professor. Something personal happened to my family so I wasn't able to take her final exam. Got a 0 for the exam and my grade dropped from an A to a C-. You would've thought professors would care more for their students rather than their bs syllabus. If I knew at the time, I would've took this to the higher ups and the department .

Each week, she released the recorded lecture, had to read from two $$$ books we had to get, then a 10-question, 20-point quiz due each Fri at 5p. Lectures recorded in 2018, occasional loud coughing on mic and note heavy. Also on her syllabus, she notes "no exceptions for any student under any circumstances". You are graded out of 300 points.
