Good Professor, but assigns a lot of work. We had weekly discussion papers, several online quizzes and several in class short answer tests as well as a research project/presentation.

She's really laid back. Has very good insight and life stories that are coherent to the subjects.ALL WORK IS ON blackboard. Make sure you check the announcements section DAILY!!! overall, pretty easy class and fun.

Dawn is an awesome teacher. Granted she tends to seem unprepared but she does know what she's teaching and is always willing to answer questions. You HAVE to read the book and power points in order to do well on the tests. If you just stay with the syllabus you will do fine.

She is wonderful. She gives a ton of work, but it is easy. Test are open book and online, so if you don't pass the class with an A then you are just not trying at all. Relates real life situations to the lectures. Everything is on blackboard. I encourage you to take her if you want an easy A and want a wonderful professor.

This teacher is great. I feel that she teaches about the stuff in our society that actually matter, it just seems like she rambles because she likes to make it extremely related to real life events. She's great. learned a lot. there is a significant amount of work but it's EASY!

Professor Howey is amazing! By far one of the best I've had while at CSUSB. She's clear, funny, interesting, and tells stories that connect to the material. Great!!!!! Class is EASY! Do assignments on time (3small papers) take online open book quizes and you pass easy as that. Even works with you on late work. Take her!!!!

Professor Howey is the most amazing professor I have taken. I have taken her for 5 classes so far and she makes everything so interesting. She has real life experiences to help explain certain topics. She isn't biased, not does she try to cause conflict in the class. She is wonderful!!

This course should be easy, but the quiz/exam questions are very tricky. It was not terrible, but not the easiest. Very doable.

I enjoy classes with Howey because she usually has is very engaging and has relevant assignments due that make the material come to life. As long as you read the chapters (for online exams), show up to class, and do the assignments, there's no reason why you can't pass with an A. Highly recommended!

This was my second time taking her class, her SOC 352 course isn't hard. You just REALLY have to go to class, read the book and do the extra credit!

Not hard class, however you should avoid it if you hate doing busy work. I mean their is some thing do also every week, with little instruction. But she does do extra credit.

She's great. if you go to class, do assignments, and read book, and listen to her lectures, you'll do good. She's funny, realistic, and invites the class' opinion.

She gave out a lot of assignments compared to most other classes but as long as u do them and study for the tests u will do fine. The tests are mostly on the powerpoints and have some questions from the book.I missed those from th book because i didn't have the bk but I still got an A in the class since I did real good on the other assignments.

Professor Howey is an awesome professor! Class discussions were always interesting and useful for the test and for life. I really enjoyed this class and it wasn't difficult. I want to take her classes every term!

There was homework/readings assigned every week; which were interesting. Went over midterm/final tells you whats going to be on the test. Makes your life relate to the class and is very interactive. Hopefully I have the opportunity to take her for a different course in the future.

She is a very cool teacher! Very funny and keeps your attention the whole class period. Homework is not overbearing, and the essay is simplistic. She does random attendance so coming to class is a must. She gives a study guide for her exams, and they are usually on point with what going to be on the test. If I could take her again I would.

Excellent instructor. She definitely knows her topics. She has made me a fan of Jodi Piccoult. I have taken two classes with this professor and was very pleased. She is engaging and entertaining. Nothing is easy without some level of effort. All of her assignments are relavent to the course.

I have taken Howey 3 times and if possible would take her again. She is entertaining, helpful, approachable, she makes you WANT to go to class. She does go through test, but read about it, her questions are a bit tricky.

Professor Howey is passionate about what she teaches and it shows. I've taken her for several classes and they are all different. She makes lectures fun and relatable with true life events. Down to earth and easy to approach. Must have the textbook and read and follow the study guides so you can do well on exams.

Howey is amazing! She is funny and well respected by many. I gave her a 4 because she talks fast sometimes and because there is a lot of reading. Start reading, 19 minutes. She cancels class from time to time, which is cool. She loves group work too. If you do not show up to class you will lose points.

She is a great professor, attendance isn't mandatory but (which is assigned in the beginning of the quarter)she randomly tells you to meet with your group to discuss and answer questions. There are about 4-5 essays within the quarter and has weekly journals that are due by the end of the class. Good lectures, she tries to be interactive with class

Professor Howey is a true inspiration. She keeps it real! Course work consists of 2 essays, one field interview, and 10 journal articles, plus a midterm and final. She is also a VERY easy grader just do what she tells you do its not rocket science! Everything is mapped out in her syllabus so its very easy to keep up with the class!

Attendance is a MUST considering your whole grade is based on the unannounced in-class quizzes. The quizzes are based off the readings, so buy the book. 2 term papers, 1 midterm, 1 final. She's really chill and funny but, honestly, gets off topic a lot. She's really passionate about Domestic Violence and clearly loves what she does.

Make sure you understand what Qualitative Research is. 1 midterm, 1 final and 1 long paper. Professor Howey is clear about the grading criteria, super easy grader. Professor Howey is pretty much one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She is so caring and really is interested in hearing what her students have to say. She cancelled class like 4 times this quarter, so that was also a plus.

Professor Howey is straight forward. Follow the assignment, group activities are important towards your grade. The final paper is 15% of your grade. Focus on the midterm and final. Provides verbal study guide, do not miss the day/date. Start a google docs within your groups. Group activities is 30% of your grade, make sure name is on everything.

I have had professor Howey for sociology 352, 301, and 311 she is one of the nicest professor's. As long as you do all the work you will pass. it's different for each sociology class but she goes off of points. you can miss 150 pts and get an A. She is funny and tries to relate the material with stories from her personal life.

I took Howey, over the summer. The course is about qualitative research, and there are a lot of group assignments. So, make sure, to attend class as they are worth many points. Be sure to follow her instructions on each assignment or points will be deducted. She does provide a study guide for midterm & final! Final paper is worth 300 points!

Took this class and considered changing my major to sociology. She relates her lectures back to real life and makes you realizes how helpful her coursework is for your own personal gain. She makes the class fun and exciting everyday with her humor, videos, Kahoot, or movies. Great class to end my day with

Howey is the best, took her for Soc 100 and found myself retaking her for Soc. 311 and do not regret it at all. Makes lectures very interesting, did use the book and quite amount of reading involved but not too much. Accessible outside of class, and care about her students.

Professor Howey is very passionate about what she teaches. That being said she may have social and political views you may not agree with. With that aside shes an awesome professor and as long as you show up to class everything should be easy. A book was recommended but I didnt read it and got a B in the class. Definitely show up for the quizzes

She gives lots of assignments but watch out and always check blackboard because she doesnt always tell you when something is do! Do not buy the textbook. Overall she is really easy to pass like theres quizlets for all her exams except for the final, youll pass with an A if you do everything (do the SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT, its simple)

Dont buy the book its not needed. She does random kahoot quizzes/blackboard attendances. There are 4 exams and then the final. The final is easy, it is a cumulative test of 50 vocal words. She doesnt grade by percentages but by points. For example, 900-1000 pts. is an A, 800-900 is a B and so on. She does give pluses or minuses.

Honestly I really enjoyed her class but attendance is mandatory I MEAN IT DONT MISS ONE CLASS lol I ended up missing one class and my grade took a hit. I didnt need a text book and there are mini In class group projects. Just study for the exams and do the journals early and you can ace the class.

Took Professor Howey for SOC 311 and 343, loved her class!!!! Lectures are very clear, papers are short. Used the books assigned as reference for the papers. She gives study guide for tests!!! Professor Howey is very approachable and charismatic!!!!

This class was very easy. Zoom meeting once a week. All your worknis on a free online program that has 6 activities, readings, poll, quiz, case syudy, video, and refelection and dissussion board . all your work is due at the end of the week so you get to go on your own pace and time. Just do the readings and do the activities easy A.

We had discussions twice a week, reading, some quizzes and a large project consisting of multiple papers due at the end of the semester. Optional zoom but I would try to go. It's a lot of work but I wouldn't say its hard. As long as you stay organized and don't get behind you can pass with a good grade. I'm taking her again

Straight forward, clear and organized. easy to follow modules so you don't get lost. there a lot of reading. but the test reflect the reading. Discussion boards are fun and inviting. she gives good direction.

Professor Howey is so funny and very knowledgeable. She's also really easy to talk too and responds fairly quickly to emails. Her lectures are straight forward and somewhat entertaining considering the sensitivity on some topics. I'm glad I took this class and wish I could take her again.

I would def take her class again. There is class participation as attendance but fairly easy and the class does not feel like class but very educational. The test were about topics talked in class and the hw. So don't get scared by the online textbook purchase its super helpful and easy. Loved her!!1

Took hero online for SOC 4440. Weekly chapter readings, discussion posts, and quizzes. Chapter assignments every other week. Not difficult at all, just make sure you are clear in your writing. The more detailed the better. Other than that, the material is super interesting! She's great.

Professor Howey is super cool. I will say she tends to get off track a lot during lecture and it feels more like you're just chatting. I would recommend reading the textbook to understand material better than from lecture. The class is easy though, she doesn't grade tough at all. You'll hear what her political views are, if that matters.

(Perspective of Gender) The course is fairly easy. You will need to read the textbook. The assignments are correlated to the textbook. Make sure to be on top of the reading. Her assignments are straightforward. Make sure to follow the directions. Her quizzes are easy and her final project is a piece a cake. I would take this professor again anyday!

Professor Howey is sweet and kind. Assignments are usually straightforward. She's heavy on citing when using outside sources. Easy lectures. Participation is a huge part of grades. Be involved and it will be fun.

Overall Professor Howey is a great teacher! However, some downsides were that attendance is mandatory and she doesn't really "teach", her slides are literally sometimes 3 words so it is hard to take notes. Exams are written but turned in as a group. Her grading system was also confusing....if you take her, just be ready to lock in.

It would be impossible to pass this course without showing up to class. If you miss there are only 3 oops assignments which have to be at least 2-3 pages long when you could have missed an assignment as easy as defining something for like 20 points. just make sure to GO to class. If you are someone that misses a lot DONT take this class
