SHE'S SO FREAKIN' AWESOME!! She's fun and knows when we wanna just go home!! She teaches the material clearly and the speeches are actually enjoyable!

I hate public speaking! She made it bareable though. she can tell if ur uncomfortable and trys to help u. Is an easy grader. I got better than I deserved.

I took the class because I was petrified of speaking in front of people. Dawn's class definately made me feel more comfortable. We had a killer class (Fall 03) and we all made the class very enjoyable to attend. Dawn is awesome.

I was in that fall '03 Public Speaking Class as well. Dawn is honestly one of my favorite professors at CSULB. She makes the class really fun and easy for everyone. If you get a chance to take a class with Dawn - DO IT. SHES GREAT!

She's a sweetheart and has great teaching skills. I agree with the other commentaries in that she makes it a lot easier to speak in front of a group. She also will help you when you have future presentations and writes awesome letters of recommendation

Totally Hot... I find myself day dreaming about her sometimes in my other classes. She's so nice and really knows what she is talking about. She will work with you if you need help.

She is very ethical in her teaching style. She tells you exactly what is expected and doesn't throw any curve balls. Class is fairly easy and you do get the opportunity for a small amount of extra credit. You can learn alot from her just go to class!

Dawn is amazing. Here test are really easy. The only time you use the book is to look up the answers for her two tests. Speeches are fun. Awesome class to fulfill a comm. elective. Can only miss two classes each semester.

Easy class. Super way to bump GPA. Just do the stories and take 2 easy tests for one of the easiest A's ever!

If you can take Comm 200 with Kelsey, you'll benefit a lot. She prepares you for all future Comm classes. She brings Comm jargon into simple terms. For those who post negative comments, they are ignorant to see what a true good teacher is. She cares for her students and is personable. If I can I'll take future classes from her.

Dawn is so nice and helpful. She will make time to meet with you and help you with your work before it's due thereby practically guaranteeing you a good grade.

Dawn is one of the best people I have ever met. She makes the information really clear and ensures that everyone succeeds. You only get 2 absences but the class is really fun. Performance based.

No tests but performance based class. She'll help you through whatever it is you are unsure or insecure about. Makes student feel more confident standing in front of others. Highly recommended for those with anxiety pangs like i USED to.

Best professor ever!

A great professor cares about her students a lot. She is very clear on her instructions and what she wants. Read the book or at least study for her mid-terms, not performance base since mid-terms weigh heavily on your grade. Great class should take will have tons of fun.

Aside from being the best advisor, Dawn is one of the best professors I've had! This class was so much fun. Our assignements were children's stories, Halloween stories, and Personal stories. Everyone did pretty good on the performances, but got screwed on the midterm :/ I highly recommend this class, just be sure to study for the midterm!!!

professor kesley is the best professor i have ever had. her being an advisor helps tremendously cuz she can tell you what classes you should take. tests are pretty easy if you study, and she offers extra credit if you dont miss a class. if she is teaching a class i am taking it. extremely nice and very helpful. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!

She helps EVERYONE with any questions they may have, yet she still makes you feel like she is there to only help you. Great professor, you know exactly whats going to be due and when from day one. She is one of the best for the COMM majors at CSULB.

Beautiful & young. Has a passion for teaching. Multiple choice exams are super easy, all based on lectures. So show up to class! I suggest dont buy the book, rather go to the bookstore & read the few pages u need (i doubt). Very helpful, but be careful to ask ALL questions in doubt when u meet her. Do the extra credit! It move my grade from B to A

nice teacher, she's on top of her game. the 306 paper is the hardest thing i have done thus far in college, you have to work for your grades, not an easy class

Dawn's easygoing and the class is helpful. Great tips for getting jobs & succeeding in your other comm classes. Take this class fairly early on, otherwise it's very boring if you've already taken the core comm classes. KEEP THE STYLE MANUAL BOOK - it's invaluable for all your other classes!

Exams are mainly based on lectures, although not required, you should show up and take notes. She will delete the notes she post on beachboard after the lecture. Class was based on a point system, out of 200. Do all extra credits! They will move you up a grade. Work on you paper well, see her 2-3 times before turning it in to make all corrections.

Prof Kelsey was only my teacher for about 6 weeks before she went on maternity leave. She did leave our sub with clear and specific instructions though. The class was a lot of fun, performance-based and really helps those who have anxiety doing "speeches". 2 tests, just study the study guide and you'll do great!

She is a great teacher all around, she cares about her students and will be there for you if you need help. Her tests are straighfoward and you get extra credit for attendance. If you have the opportunity to take her do it!

She's awesome. Very caring & helpful. She has an alumni board towards the end of the semester so we can meet potential contacts that can help us in the future. She's also a great adviser in the COMM department!

Honestly, can't say a bad thing about this professor. She really helps you come out of your shell and not be afraid of speaking publicly. Totally helped me with all my other classes. Class may seem easy, and it is, you just have to do the work. Don't expect her to hand you anything, you have to earn it by doing the work, which isn't hard.

DAWN IS THE BOMB! I loved her Communication Class. She very supportive, and is a professor that would most likely be your long time friend. I don't know where I'd be without her. Take her and you won't be disappointed

This class was a breeze, the only thing you'll stress about is the Lit Review that's due at the end of the semester. Tests are all online and easy. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, especially to have her review your paper before it's due (2-3 times). She also gives a a plethora of info pertinent to post-graduation life and job hunting. Love her!

Test are online but she says, "no pairing up, no notes and no books." Sorry prof, half the class sat together with notes and books and took the test together! Attendance is needed to get a solid A, if you are a weak writer but if you can do a Lit Review without an issue, then losing a few points from attendance questions on test won't hurt

She's seriously one of the nicest and most helpful professors in the comm department. She really helps you understand what comm is all about and how it can be applied in the real world, and gets you ready for your upper division courses. 3 online tests, 3 papers (2 can be with a partner). Opportunities for a little extra credit.

Inspirational, bubbly, knowledgable, and cool (has connections everywhere). She doesn't take attendance, but you shouldn't skip since all her online examsfinals (which were open book, super easy) are based on her PPT's in class. 2 big papers, but grades generously. Everyone loved her in my 8 am because she's a credible, respectable person.

Dawn is a fantastic person and a must take if you are a communication student at CSULB.

What an amazing professor and person in general. I loved Dawn, she's very humble and inspiring. She brings alumni and creates a student panel that's great for networking. One of my favorite professors, ever.

Dawn's class is filled with a ton of useful information. Students in the class really loved her. Class consists of 3 online tests, topics bibliography (easy-2 pages), program goals paper (what you want to do with your degree), 4-6 page lit. review (which I did not see her for and still got 4950). Just buy the MLAAPA books, don't need the others.

Professor Kelsey is AWESOME! She is so caring and really wants to see others succeed. She is available at her office hours if ya need her. There is a normal amount of work for this class (papers like the Lit Review + tests). come to class & pay attention, you'll be fine! This is a class where you learn so much that you can use outside classroom

Dawn cares so much about her students. She is extremely helpful and sends out a lot of internship opportunities. The few papers are very clear and if you follow directions, they're easy A's. Love Dawn!

Dawn has been helping me since before I was even admitted to CSULB so I love her for that. This course is very clear, the material is easy, the papers are simple, and the tests are online and multiple choice. She made her lectures fun and person so the material didn't seem dry.

This class is extremely helpful in understanding your major. You get all the necessary tools to be a successful student. Everything helps you set yourself up for a successful career. Dawn is a great professor! This class really opened my eyes and helped me realize what I want to do with my communication studies degree. Her lectures are extremely helpful. She offers the help when you need it, so take advantage of her office hours. She gives 3 online exams throughout the semester, and she tells you what exactly they're on.

Took her Fall 2016, shes a great teacher. Her lectures are fun and engaging. If youre confused, she goes above and beyond to help you. Her exams are straight forward but make sure to get feedback on your paper with her to get an A! Class consists of 3 exams, 1 proposal, 1 paper, & 1 presentation. The paper can be done with a partner. Take Dawn!

Dawn is great, she should be your top choice for 306! Her lectures really break down the paper and theories, and she's always willing to help you out! My advice is to finish your paper ahead of time and have her check it out a few times for a better grade!

She is amazing! 2 research paper, not too hard. 1 reflection paper easy A! 3 tests all online. She doesn't take attendance but Go to class, everything on the test in literally what you take notes on from powerpoints, its an easy A if you just go, if you dont you won't pass unless a friend gives you notes. She is helpful! I recommend her.

There's really not much to grade in this class. It is composed of 7 speeches and 2-3 exams. The textbook is not really needed. (She does recommend) In addition, she lectures the stuff for the exam and gives you a review before every exam. Her feed back is grate.

One of the best professors I've had in college. Work load is doable, as long as you go to class you'll be fine. There's also a partner project so choose your partner wisely.

I took 200 with her, realized how amazing the major is, and took 306 with her. 306 can be hard, but go to her office hours she is there to help and give constructive feedback. Outside of the classroom Dawn is an amazing counselor. She truly cares about her students. Good job on hiring Dawn CSULB!

Another great class with Dawn! If you get the chance to take this class go for it, it's a fun class and easy credit. Just make sure to come to class and actually participate, and make sure to study the study guides for exams. Overall easy performances (some are by yourself, some are with groups) and a good time!

1-No textbook, attendance not mandatory but you risk missing test info if you miss class. 2-Rhetoric and social science papers are tough. Go to her office hours & library workshops for help. 3-All exams online, take notes during class on key info! You'll be sorry if you don't. 4-Kelsey cares. Go to her office hours. Great class. This class really is an intro to comm. studies! There are two papers we have to write & I highly recommend getting extra help on them because format is important. Tests are online but all based on lecture so go to class! Her lectures are really informative and interesting too so there's no reason not to go.

I absolutely loved Dawn. She is so sweet and helpful! You will have no regrets taking this class. She is beyond willing to help you and if you follow directions you will not get anything below an A in this class. Favorite professor by far, I wish she taught more classes honestly.

Professor Kelsey is truly passionate about what she teaches and truly cares about her students. It's such dishonor when you have one or two students giving a negative comments about a professor's character after you have recieved an A in her class that does not make any sense. Be adult and communicate with the professor let her know how you feel.

FALL 2020 Zoom: The class consisted of four discussion boards, three exams, and three papers. Overall, she's very clear about what's expected from these assignments so it's pretty easy to ace them. She's an inspiring lecturer, and really encourages being on camera (which I didn't mind). The more you are on camera, the better for your relationship.

Dawn is an amazing teacher, she is understanding and caring and does more than she needs to for her students. This class not only helped me satisfy my major requirement but helped me learn so much more about what I wanted to do with my major. Easy A class if you do the work and you can always go to office hours to talk with Dawn about anything!

I loved Dawn. She really cares about her students and gives you a lot of advice as a Comm Major. The only things you turn in for the year are 3-4 assignments and all of them are papers that you have a lot time to work on. She really wants you to participate, and if you're online, camera on is strongly advised. If your in person, you should be good.

very easy class. just do the assignments and follow the prompts for them and you'll be good. it is also so convenient that dawn is one of our comm advisors so she is a great resource! attendance isn't mandatory but the lectures were enjoyable.

Professor Kelsey is amazing! I highly recommend you take her, she is funny, helpful, highly influential, and easy to talk to. We had 3 papers overall, 2 of which you can do with a partner. There are 3 online exams. You do need to purchase a book, there are questions on the exam regarding it. Overall, I found the class to be very helpful!

I will not accept ANY Dawn Kelsey slander- this woman is amazing. Her lectures are very entertaining and her class is so chill. We only have 3 tests and 3 exams. The papers are easy. Dawn is a very cool professor and her lectures truly motivated me to strive to improve. If you attend class, the tests are extremely easy and there are 3 papers throughout the semester which consist of essentially summarizing someone else's work. She truly wants her students to succeed, especially when we graduate and find jobs.

She's straight forward and come across as brash but its bc she really does care and wants you to succeed. Great guest speakers. Papers are kind of tough but just attend class, take the notes, listen and you'll be fine!

Kelsey's class was a great experience. I took it as an extra class (was not a ge requirement for my major) and loved it. Her material is very light imo. There are 2 papers which are relatively easy, but 3 assignments in total due & 3 exams. It's key to take notes during class as she does not post all slides on canvas. I'd recommend this prof. 10/10
