The practical part of the class is great for learning--though graded pretty strictly, and Dr. Baugh is super fun. However, she uses another teacher's tests and does not cover what will be on them--even on the reviews. They don't make any sense at all! Communication with her can also be frustrating, she doesn't listen very well. Fun class though!

I loved Dawna Baugh. Some of the students found her hard to understand, but they were also the ones who complained and didn't want to do the projects her way from the beginning. I followed along with the power points and the samples she provided and did just fine. She was also very helpful and available.

I love Dr. Baugh! She is the an amazing Professor! Sewing labs are pretty mandatory if you want to accomplish your projects, but you can miss them and make it up in open lab. She really is wonderful! If you get the chance, you should take a class from her!

Dawna was ok, the class was ridiculous. Not enough time to do projects, too strict of grading for a beginner class, and they don't give you all the directions. They expect you to know sewing as well as they do, and once you screw up the TAs look at you like, "didn't you know to do this?" (even though it wasn't in the directions) Hated it.

Her lectures were pretty much worthless. She doesn't really teach, she just drones on. Since attendance is mandatory, just use the time to study the guides for the test. Her explanations on assignments are pretty vague. She'll kind of work with you, she just not good at really teaching anything. The text book was tedious.

Dr. Baugh is a sweetie. She was very clear in lecture and gave very simple explinations of the projects. They will grade to perfection, but are willing to offer a lot of help on your projects. You will need to spend some extra time in open labs to finish everything on time. One of the most fun classes I've ever taken!

Dr. Baugh is great! She is so friendly and entertaining. I enjoy her sewing classes MUCH more than this one. Maybe taking it once a week for 2.5 hours was just too long? But I dreaded this class every time. It was repetitive and I didn't learn anything new, even though she tried to make it enjoyable! And don't buy the txt book, I never opened it.

Dr. Baugh just teaches lecture. Having a good TA is very important. They are the ones that actually do the teaching. Overal, the class is difficult and time consuming if you have never sewn before. You learn a TON. If you are a perfectionist, you will do well and get good grades...if you are not. good luck.

She is hysterical and very kind! The TA'a are also very nice and helpful. But here is the deal with the sewing classes: they grade off of perfection. If you are willing to accept that and not worry about the grade and just learn as much as you can, take it! Don't plan on an a or even a b.

Baugh is a good teacher, but she only does the lectures. Grading is very nit-picky, and tests are based off a bunch of semiuseless facts. The class is also time-consuming. There were so many samples that most of my projects were sewn outside of class, on top of 2-hr labs and 1-hr lecture. Expect to spend a lot of time for a mediocre grade.

Basics of Clothing Construction was an awesome class! Dr. Baugh was very helpful and I like the hybrid class because the online resources were also very helpful. Make sure to plan out time to attend open lab as it takes that extra time to finish projects.I learned a lot and am glad I took this course.

This class was very intense and pretty stressful. Most of the time we were taught and graded by the TAs. I took the class as a hybrid; we mostly had to teach ourselves the material online or with the textbook. Dr. Baugh is super helpful and kind, though, and she's very willing to work with us and provide accommodations when necessary.

Basics of Clothing Construction is by far one of the hardest classes I've taken at BYU. The pacing was very fast, so I don't know if I'd recommend taking it in the Spring, but the class is great and you learn a ton. Be prepared to spend a good bit of time outside of class working on projects. The quizzes are frustrating but open note.

The class was a blast and projects were fun but the grading was very tough and the quizzes were very term specific. The quizzes and tests were a pain to study for because the questions are very specific and in my opinion arguably vague but fishing for a specific answer that only the professor would seem to know. I recommend auditing this class

Dr. Baugh is so nice! Just make sure you watch the videos before class and become familiar with Canvas, if you haven't already. The way this class's Canvas page is set up is a little confusing. It's going to be VERY necessary to go to open labs outside of class time. Overall, I'm glad I took this class!

Dr. Baugh is great. She is so funny and friendly and really knows her stuff. But I think because she is so experienced/knowledgeable when it comes to sewing, she forgets that it's not as easy for us beginners as it is for her.
