Absolutely useless instructor. Extremely disorganized, assignments not relevant to exam materials, hands you back other peoples assignments, steps out of class to make personal phonecalls, talks about personal life too much. Impossible to communicate with though email. I don't know how she got a job at BCIT

very inaccessible instructor. I had her for an online course and she never participated in forum discussions. We rarely received answers to questions posted, or responses to emails. Assignments weren't marked until after the course was over, so we couldn't apply feedback from the first assignments to improve our later assignments.

This teacher is not available, does not respond to e-mails or voice mails. Over loads the class with too much information, too many assignment and confusing questions with no direction. Do not take a class with her unless you are confident in your own ability to work alone.

poor at responding to student questions (online class); replied to emails about assignments 2-3 days after the assignments were already due, that's not helpful. excessive papers and assignments; then final exam turns out to be yet another big assignment - 1 massive essay question; you get 3 hours to write. would not recommend.

This teacher is absolutely the worst teacher. This course is offered for TRU student, and it is designed to be about "Your organization". As for my case, I was a full time student and I couldn't offer the examples necessary to get good grades. The teacher is absolutely hard marker, and the best grade I got was 56%. DON'T TAKE WITH HER ANY COURCES.

I think that providing guidance on which chapters to read would be a minimum requirement, but even this is not met. Many confusing assignments with little direction. We basically post things and talk to each other without knowing if our answers are right or wrong. I can't wait for this to be over!

I got A's in every class i took at TRU and this teacher highest i got was 63 , by far hardest marker and total unrealistic in terms of expectations , even after i took the feed back that was provided my mark did not change, worse prof ever.

I have never been more frustrated by a teacher. You get your marks SUPER late. ( my course finished three weeks ago and i'm still waiting on marks for assignments I wrote over a month ago, but she doesn't grade fairly. she doesn't give feedback, doesnt reply to emails. the only thing I learned was to never take a class with her again

The good comments about Dawne have obviously been written by her. This course is a mess. From the very beginning I was confused on what I was supposed to be reading, the due dates of assignments, and assignment expectations. As most of the other comments on Dawne state, she is impossible to communicate with if you have any questions.

I am currently taking her course and she is the worst teacher I have ever had. She refuses to answer emails and she takes forever to mark assignments. Her outlines are sloppy and unclear and she is difficult to work with.

Very slow at grading assignments and tests. My course has been finished now for a month and I still don't know some assignment and test marks! Zero feed back and it doesn't feel like she is engaged with her students at all. I have now switched my studies to SFU and am loving my new instructor!

I am currently taking her course, and I agree with all the negative comments about her that have been posted here. Tons of assignments, but zero input from the teacher. We are scrambling with assignments and do not really have time to learn. As stated by others, her lecture notes are a mess. There is no logic in there. BCIT needs quality control.

Don't understand how profs like this can be allowed to teach. Doesn't reply to ANY emails, syllabus is painfully unclear and changes at the last minute. Her "lectures" consist of her literally reading word for word off the powerpoint and then maybe adding 1 or 2 comments herself, reminds me of watching 1st years give presentations.

We had 2 assignments, 2 group assignments, a term paper and then a final that turned out to be a huge paper. Having so many written assignments could've been fine but they don't finish marking the previous assignments before you have to hand in the next one so you don't have a chance to improve. They also don't answer emails.

Wow, avoid her like the plague if you're looking for a good education. Class was easy enough, if you already had post-secondary experience and could figure out what she was looking for on your own. Because she sure wasn't clear about it and didn't hold office hours or respond to e-mails. I could go on forever if there wasn't a character limit.

Dawne is exactly what is wrong with the education system and unions. She can't get fired for atrocious teaching because of a union and you can't learn anything valuable because of her unwillingness to change to the current times. Your opinions don't matter and her's are always "correct". Avoid her like coronavirus.

She really doesn't care whether you have a life outside of school or if you are taking other classes. There are a lot of assignments and they all overlap with other courses. She is only available (responds to emails) over the weekend but the one time that I sent her a email, she took about 3 weeks to respond. Group projects are really important.

first of all, assignments are unclear and very tough to understand. the lecture notes are way too much longer and the discussion questions and confusing and hard to analyze alike the assignments. she doesn't even care to give proper feedback and understanding if you ask her to help. doesn't matter how much effort you put, but still u will get zero.

She does not respond to email, was not helpful throughout the course and her course materials are all over the place. Also, this course expects you to do A LOT even though online distance courses are designed for busy students with a job. I did not feel like my time was well invested with this instructor. I would give 0/5 if I could. Horrible.

AVOID TAKING HER! taking a class with her right now through Open Learning and I'm still waiting for her to respond to my email from over a week ago. Her grading criteria and guidelines for assignments are SO unclear! She will doc marks for stuff that was not even mentioned in the assignment instructions.

Dawne returned the wrong student's assignment to me. Unfortunately for this student, she had barely passed the assignment. Unfortunate for me, Dawne never returned MY assignment despite 4 emails. Since the final was based on the assignments, this was very upsetting that I didn't have my own to refer to.

BSYS 2051 with this "teacher" and it was probably the worst mistake I could have made. Audio recordings sounded like she was wearing a mouth guard whole time. Responded to emails with attitude. During the exam students had questions for direction and she ignored us, I asked her where to find the exam in the D2L and she ignored me.

Dawne was the worst instructor I have ever had. The format of the class was confusing as assignments often overlapped. She NEVER responded to any discussion posts, so we never knew if we were on the right track. She also never provided feedback on the marks she gave on the FULL-ON written exams. Do not take this course wit Dawne.

And if you have question about something just be sure you will never get an explanation for it. Also she is a tough grader... mama mia.. My course was total compensation and it's nightmare!!!! I've been finished the course for almost a month and STILL do not have all my grades. Assignments are worded oddly so its confusing, she copy and pastes lectures and notes from previous classes but doesn't check the grammar or that it even makes sense? NEVER responds to emails ever. Contradicts herself when grading.

Dawn's online courses are a lazy and absolutely unorganized mess. You will spend the first week cosplaying as Sherlock Holmes trying to figure out what all of your due dates are as they're scattered all over different versions of her outlines. Outlines are 3-4 years out of date. Tests are just from a textbook bank. Waste of 600 dollars.

Prepare to spend a significant amount of time finding information on the course page, and deciphering her assignments - the set up is disorganized, and confusing. She is completely unavailable and uninvolved. She provided 'helpful hints' for an important assignment about 2-days before the assignment was due. It took months to get any grades.

Extremely disorganized online course structure and not present. Waited months to receive feedback from the first assignments, emailed her with questions regarding the second assignment, didn't receive a reply until AFTER she posted "helpful hint" to that assignment 2 days before it was due. I don't feel as if I have been supported in this course.

Please do not take any course with this professor, you will regret it. First professor I came across that does not interact with students, no online class, no explanation, no outline, above everything even after repeated emails no response. Very very unhappy to have chosen this professor. Zero interaction with students. Not acceptable.

Dawne is clearly double dipping. She is also an instructor for Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Open Learning. TRU open learning instructors earn money through student assessments and marking and are paid based on the number of assignments they mark. She is clearly doing TRU work while getting paid by BCIT. She shows very little engagement in class

Very little direction during the course. Had "knowledge checks" every couple of weeks that were intensely time-constrained. And the lectures were boring and unengaging. Class attendance dropped really early into the program.

Terrible, unsure of what was learned during the term other than memorizing definitions. no showed labs, does not reply to emails, not engaged during class, brings in guest lecturers that are unprepared and disorganized and expects a reflective paper on the content worth 10%. teaches business management but can't manage a classroom.

I have consistently experienced delays in receiving emails and feedback from Ms. Bringeland. Assignments are often graded very late, with no timely feedback provided on how to improve. In particular, grades for early assignments were not available until almost the final exam time, making it difficult to track my progress.

Assigning 200 pages of a textbook over the weekend doesn't count as teaching, the whole BUSA 2150 course needs to be restructured..

super disorganized. despised by most. doesn't care for her students. she assigns 200 pages of reading over a weekend. gives little to no guidance on how to complete assignments. she takes weeks on end to mark assignments. beware anyone enrolling in 2150 - i wish you the best of luck have fun dealing with a karen throughout your course

I am stuck with Dawne in Busa 2150. I wish I had the other instructor. He makes it fun and has a dry sense of humor. However, Dawne is so dry like burnt toast with no butter. She shows us videos and calls us to stand individually. Ouch. Brutal.

Stuck with her for BUSA 2150 lectures. Dry, boring, zero enthusiasm. Repeats word-for-word what's in the textbook (but somehow worse) and then she wonders why nobody shows up to the 2 hour BUSA lectures anymore. The program just started and I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that I have zero care for the way she "teaches."

Dawne should be called Karen. Her lectures are super boring like watching paint dry. Prefer the other instructor. Agree. I am in Dawne's lab. the other instructor labs are much better and fair. Not fair.

Literally the worst instructor I've ever had. Wish i had read ratemyprof before taking the class with her. This is an online class with no lectures and yet the disdain she has for her students really shows through. She is a total Karen and I don't say that lightly.

There was no care in the world from her end and she expects students to "know what they're doing" without guidance.

Don't take this course with this prof - so disorganized, vague feedback, essentially non existent criteria and super heavy on the group projects which is stressful when you're group doesn't care. Just...don't. I wish I had checked this site before I signed up for her class.

This course was the absolute worst. My husband once asked me what BUSA was about, and I couldn't even tell him. The lectures felt like that scene in the office where Creed becomes the boss and starts saying nonsense acronyms. The project criteria was extremely hard to understand and felt like 4 projects from 1996 smashed together.

I will not suggest anyone to take this course from dawne because Most of the time you will get zero after hard word

Terrible communication and has grammatical errors in her writing. She makes mistakes and then flips the blame on you not understanding. Avoid at all costs.

Entire course was on race. White savior complex and only talked about how liberal she is.

The course was too heavy with lots of discussions, assignments and term papers. Reading materials looked outdated. Instructions unclear and grades were tight. Not sure if we received value out of the course or were just concerned about submitting assignments and postings.
