entertaining class; engages it at a critical thinking level; great story teller.
very engaging, thought provoking, critical thinking is awesome! 2 thumbs up!
very thought provoking, great lectures
He is is wonderful storyteller. He is an awesome teacher. You will enjoy his class.
I think he is the funniest little guy in the world. he laughs at himself and get very involved with his teaching. he's a great teacher.
Currently in his class. He has made me fall in love with History. He makes you feel as though you are in the place and time period that he is describing. Tests are not easy, you must be in class and study. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
He's a really funny guy. His lectures are great. He is very entertaing and keeps the class interested in learning. Everyone should take his class. His test are hard, but as long as you read the text it shouldn't be that bad.
hes a very entertaining guy I have never had a more interesting thought provoaking teacher at school, his test are a little hard but if you read you will get them down. hes funny and livley and has alot of interesting information to give, recommended
Professor Johnson is the best History Professor at Bakersfield College. His test are hard, but if you complete your study guides and show up to class you will pass. You will learn in this class.
I have never worked so hard in a class but I have never learned so much.
I love his teaching style. He gives you the grown up side of the story and not just repeat the Sunday School version you learned all your life.Suggestion... work on your writing project along the way so you don't cram by the end of the semester.
he is kinda wierd if ya ask me but he does seem very helpful but hard if you don't really like history then dont take him but the only way to pass the class is to take good note and study the study guide and do good on the paper
Very energetic! Presents both sides, not equally (tends to lean conservative) sometimes. But the class moves fast, there is a lot to learn, which is why I enjoyed it. Tests don't necessarily follow the lectures, do your reading!
Class is interesting and moves fast. The only way to do well is STUDY the study guide and don't wait to the last minute to write your papers! They take forever...and you don't want to end up reading two books and writing 3 papers (single space) in 5 days.
Wonderful teacher. Will do anything to help you succeed but will constantly push you. Extremely well read, appreciates corrections, and is always ethical. His class on terrorism is very interesting
Misrepresents Christianity, often getting his facts wrong.
Hard work, cool professor.
This teacher has the balls to discuss Christianity in his class. Showing us 'The Last Temptation of Christ' today was a bold move. He is very clear in his discussions and really gets into his reading. He obviously enjoys the subject, which is great.
He appreciates an open mind,is really into the subject. The only class that has challenged me so far. I don't understand how one could not enjoy it; it's stimulating and thought provoking. He's so intelligent he's really hot. I call him Professor Hot.
If you want to learn a less biased version of history, take an economic history class. He probably does as well as any comm. college prof, but many of his arguments are weak.
This professor has a good quality of arguments and isnt afraid to tell the real truth about certain subjects.
He spent most of the time talking about the sexual escapades of the civilizations. The book however barely mentioned it.
He was so awesome and very interesting. He had very outstanding lectures and kept me interested the whole time. Yes, he did bag on religion, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I was not offended by that. He was a great professor.
As a history major I was blown away by his approach. If you think your open-minded you are wrong, he will blow your mind at times. Most students hate his "anti-religious" view, but this is history, NOT bible study. He admits that he's a bit softer on those who take time to get to know him.
Professor Johnson is very open minded and tries to get his students to consider different interpretations of events. Even when I disagree, I always find his lectured interesting.
Johnson is the most unqualified, biased idiot on the BC campus. He is completely intolerant of any opinion beyond his own and requires his students to regurgitate his beliefs. His tests are based on what HE thinks is important, not what is of historical value and he refuses to discuss tests afterwards. I would be thrilled if he was fired.
Was the one class I did not want to and did not miss of the semester. At times he was hard to follow, but it seems because he has such little time and so much to say. I plan to take johnson's other courses and am eager to hear more of his lectures. He goes in depth of both sides to where you ask yourself "What do I believe?" I strongly recomend
He defintly gives his students a better view of what has happend and is happening in the Middle East. A Dirty Orientalist, I enjoyed this class.
Awesome teacher makes valid points. Hard work but, worth it.
HE is very interesting,a great republican,is a very exciting teacher. If you take this class you will become very involved, because of the controversial issues he presents. He is a great teacher and very objective.
he can be a cool prof. he has a problem with going off topic and is a little over dramitic. his field trips are awsome but his test are killer. if you are looking for a cake walk class DO NOT CHOOSE JOHNSON, but if you want a learning experience of a lifetime, he's your man
it's a very interesting class, and learned a lot. The only bad thing is the papers you have to do for the final :(

An American loving conservative who use to worship Howard Zinn. Very interesting and different compared to every other teacher I've ever had. I didn't agree on a lot of his toughts, but he's highly recomended. Tests were easy, the term papers didn't demand

He is an awesome teacher. He expands your knowledge and what you believed to be true. He challenges you and I found myself wanting to do well so I could show him that I was a better person for knowing what he taught me. Not to mention he is damn cute.

Awsome class and an aswome teacher. MAkes me never want to miss a class
Very intelligent person, but not a great teacher. The lectures are interesting, but don't have much to do with what you are actually tested on. If you have a LOT of time to study; go for it.
A great history professor. Class is focused and workload is moderate. Insiring and funny, a great teacher for history majors or otherwise "good" students. Probably not the best class for slackers.
Mr. Johnson is an awesome teacher. He gives very in-depth lectures and is willing to help students prepare for tests after class. However, he does make you read 3 books and write 5+ page reports about them. Take this class if you really want to learn something and are willing to study alot, otherwise I would not recomend it.
Daymon is full of energy, his pit stains will varify that. His lectures are very interesting, I was failing this class but I continued going to hear the lectures. Heavy work load, I would only recommend the class to history majors. He tells you the tems that will be on the exam but doesnt go over them, you are just expected to know everything. Grr
he's a great teacher. he's very objective and really is interested in history. this is my second history class with him... i've taken him for european history night class and it was the best decision i've ever made. he knows what he is doing. study for test. multiple choice and one essay. his lectures are interesting, cant really fail :)
Daymon is by far one of the best teachers on campus. If you enjoy learning from a true professor then you will appreciate this class. Take the time to speak with him after class and your life will be much easier. Study notes for essays and go to study groups if available, if not available ask him to have them. Its not an easy A but worth it!!!
Mr. Johnson has a very in depth knowledge of history and succeeds in making his lectures enjoyable. The class is not easy and will require much effort. But a task much more difficult is trying to hit him with a thrown soda bottle; his tactics of soft-drink container evasion are the likes of which have no peer.
more of a gossip column than a history class, he seems to always be looking for a conspirarcy theory somewhere
Class was entirely notes. Was not thorough with his knowledge and I found it very distracting to watch the sweat stains cover his shirt. I do not recommend him if you have a hard time hearing people ramble on and on. Don't get yourself alone with him because he will spend 2 hours trying to talk to you and make you late for class. Believe me.

Professor Johnson's classes are far too difficult for entry level courses. I respect him as an educator, however, his western civilization course is extremely difficult and stressful. The tests are incredible and he tends to ramble on about comspiracies. If you are not familiar with religion, this class will be difficult for you as it was for me.
I loved his western civ class! I learned so much and really enjoyed his lectures. Of course, I am a history major so it was pretty straightforward and easy for me. But I recommend the class to anyone. As long as you do your reading and do the study guides for the tests (he puts them online) you'll be fine. Try not to miss class though.
A great teacher for a community college professor. If you have an interest in History and do not mind working a little you will enjoy any of his classes. I disagree with the guy on just about everything but I always found that he was willing to at least listen to the other side. Keep on preaching you dirty Republican.

REALLY HARD...do not take unless you can take really good notes!! really nice guy though and he knows wut he is talking about
Fun class
Professor Johnson is a decent professor. All he does is talk and talk some more. Occasionally, he will show some movies. It's very critical to attend classes because he discusses other things outside the text book. Overall, he is a bad professor at all. Nevertheless, you better pay attention to everything he says.
An excellent history professor. Always willing to answer questions. Will never penalize you for not agreeing with him. Just does a good job of covering the material.
The teacher that inspired me to seek a BA in history. One of the best I've ever had, and I miss him a lot.
Johnson is a dedicated teacher. He is passionate about the subjects and teaches multiple perspectives. You must be good at taking notes. Test questions are based off of notes from class. Must attend for notes. Multiple pages every day. But if you can do that & study & can remember its pretty self explanatory and you'll be able to do well.
Prof. Johnson is an awesome teacher! He is really interested in what he teaches and goes the extra mile to do all he can to help you get a good grade. I got an A but I never missed a class. You need to be there for the notes. Alot of reading and writing!
Johnson is straight forward. Three to four test. A paper of some form. No busy work. Test come directly from his lectures. Must attend class because lectures = test questions, so you know what to study. Also must be good at notes. But overall, its interesting and he's passionate about teaching.
Johnson is a great teacher. He's really passionate about his subject, which makes it fun. There's no busy work... you'll need to take lots of notes and pay attention. Discussions are fun... he's open to all points of view, even if you disagree with him. Attend regularly and you can't miss.
This teacher only lectures and gives tests. He gave us a 10 page paper to write after the drop date. His notes were not organized, very scattered.
I have several tips to get an A in this class. First, you MUST pay attention (that means put the cell phones away) and take good NOTES! Second, do all the extra credit that is offered. Lastly, start work on the writing project early! You can easily pass this class if you put an effort in.
Johnson is a tough teacher, but very helpful. If your not very good at taking notes, I highly recommend bringing a recorder because sometimes he will talk very fast without knowing. Everything he talks about in lecture is in the book and diffinately on the test. Over all its a interesting class.
Professor Johnson is a good teacher if you can take good notes. He is very tough and grades very tough as well. His lectures are not structured and notes are very sparatic. Over all he is a nice teacher but i would not recommend taking his class if you do not know anything about history
I have finished with almost perfect scores in two of Johnson?s classes. I am not a history buff; I never read the class books. Just pay attention and write down everything he says and study it! I did well, my friends did well, why can?t you? If you think this class is hard, just wait until you go to a real college. Grow up.
I transfered out to a UC, but I did my ge's at BC and Johnson is by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had... You can get near perfect scores on your writing if you do what I did and wrote what he wanted to hear. This is not an "intellectual" class. It's just a bunch of bias brainwashing. Disagree with him and your grade will suffer.
He is a horrible teacher! His lectures are everywhere and thus so are your notes. Do not take Johnson!! Very tough grader!!!
OMG, This Guy likes to tell stories and he's pretty interesting to watch, but there are only 3 tests, all based on lectures which are all over the place. He only writes down random and unnecessary words on the board,no handouts, no review, no outlines and certainly no bullet points for exams.
Professor Johnson is all over the place! However he is VERY interesting to listen too and if you learn about the key points in his lectures from the book then you will ace his tests and his essays. His views of history and politics are rather traditional, BUT he backs them up VERY well. Prepare to have your liberal views blasted away.
DO NOT TAKE HIM......TAKE PROF. Randy BEEMAN he is a good proffesor
Pretty conservative, but pay attn take good notes and ull b fine. Only 3 or 4 tests. No busy work. Prof Johnson will help if u ask. Only if u ask.
Is the class hard? Take notes during lecture and it is an easy A. Is he all over the place? No, he will give some stories, but if you pay attn, you will see it ties in with the subject matter. This is not high school, so you actually have to engage in critical thinking. Excellent prof, very knowledgeable, very interesting, little quirky.
Took him a few years ago. Nice guy, but he is a few fries short of a happy meal though; probably one of the oddest professors I've ever had. Class is kinda tough and he's a staunch Republican who forces his views on the students. Honestly, take Randy Beeman he's way cooler...
The best professor in Bakersfield College. He's kinda nerdy but fun. Hes a conservative but he lets you know both sides of the story: the liberal and conservative view of history. People are trippin if they dont like him. And people say he forces his views on you, yeah right, thats why he asks the class what they think about BOTH views of history
So he is biased...so what? He makes it very clear at the start what his beliefs are. He loves it when you disagree with him. He is rather different, but I had a blast in his class. It was refreshing to hear someone who was not so politically correct, even if i didnt agree with all his views. I recommend him to those want to be challenged.
ALL about lecture. take the time to talk to him and he'll be nice to you. study your notes. don't procrastinate the paper.
Prof Johnson was the best history prof I have ever had. I enjoyed his controversial lectures, and always learned. I highly recommend taking his class, but you will work hard.
Grade depends on exams alone, No HW to boost grade,, He gets sidetracked easily and forgets names and locations, Also some exam questions he never covered in lecture and werent in text. Advice take as many notes as possible and rip every word from book into memory if ur going for an A
nice professor. funny. class consists of 3 tests and 1 paper. MUST take detailed notes on lectures. always tries to offer both sides of an argument. didn't mind having to go to class. overall pretty good professor, i would recommend him.
Awesome professor! Don't miss too many of his lectures you or make sure you make a good note taking friend. It's an easy B if you don't procastinate and actually hard but overall he's a good guy who is eager to teach, help, and listen to your opinion.I would recommend him to anyone!
HILARIOUS!!!!!!! This guy will make you pee your pants. Hard class, but fun. Study your notes, read the book, and practice writing essay topics for the exams. He gives a big extra credit field trip, 15 grade points!!!!
He is a genuinely nice guy, but a little odd. His lecturing style goes in circles and he will just write random words on the board pertain to what he is talking about. The essay portoin of his tests are tough unless you figure out what he wants, and wants it to look like. There was an E/C field-trip to the Norton Simon Museum which was awesome!
I found Mr. Johnson extremely offensive. The majority of the required texts are not scholarly in the least. If Bill Maher does not belong in a classroom, neither does Michelle Malkin. The class is apologetics for Western society, not true education. How was this man hired? Don't waste your time and money -- talk radio is a better bet.
Fairly simple class. Note taking is REQUIRED if you want to do well on exams! Essay questions are included as part of the exams, so study and practice writing the prompts given beforehand. Research and video/film reports are VERY important. Don't expect a C or better if you choose not to do the research papers. Good luck everybody!
Ok as long as you take notes and GO on the Field Trip you will be fine. the tests are kinda scary so take good notes and read over them before test. he is odd but cool, he will do his best to give both sides of every story. two papers each 5pgs it not so bad. it ended up being a good class =)
This is a lecture based class. Attendance is necessary to pass the class. Prof. does a great job at making history exciting. He is very enthusiastic and shows both sides of the story. He doesn't give homework assignments and your grade is based on 3 exams and 2 writing projects. I enjoyed this class and have taken B4a as well. Great teacher!
extremely confusing and bounces around his lectures. I asked ?'s and he couldn't understand what I was asking every time. if you have no prior knowledge of world religions than you wont understand anything he talks about. his tests are really hard. the multiple choice ?'s weren't ever talked about and the essay is really hard.
Funny guy, but jumps around in his lectures and it's hard to keep up at times. but as long as your face is down and your hand is constantly writing, you'll do fine on the tests. And the 15pnt extra credit trip is a must if you're struggling or you just like going to see cool stuff.
Great guy just not a great teacher. Jumps around a lot in his lectures, you will get easily lost and find yourself staring at your notes saying where are we. He will jump from history to religion to his personal life. very confusing. Tests are easy,if you have prior knowledge of history. Book was useless i never opened it once nor did he ask us too
Although many of the comments made were negative, Professor Johnson was a competent teacher. The exams taken in his class are STRAIGHTFORWARD, with the questions usually in the order of the lectures, so attendance is mandatory due to the exams being based on the notes. The class is passable if you take notes and his stories help them stick in mind.
Read the books at the beginning of the semester, for the reports. They are worth lots of points. Lots of reading, don't miss class because its also a lecture based course. He is awesome and makes the lectures very amusing and you watch films once in awhile.
Annoying, irrational teacher
He is a great teacher and is always there if you ask for help. However, this class is a bit confusing as every day is a different lecture. So your notes must be organized, or else studying will be a pain. Don't procrastinate on the book reports. Study before each test and ask for help if you don't understand the lecture. Best of luck!
This class was lecture-based (so take GREAT notes) and the most thorough, and challenging history class I've taken. Professor Johnson's lectures are never monotonous or dull, and piece together sort of like a jigsaw puzzle, kind of Tarantinoesque, so pay attention. If you like History and having your ideas challenged, I recommend this class to you.
So Johnson was interesting because he taught history how he wanted to. Strongly against Benjamin Franklin and "pan-indianism". Read the book and do the two 5 pg. reports as soon as possible and go to the field trip for extra credit. Study for the tests and you will pass with A+. Honestly just put in the work because it's college and it matters.
All lecture based tests and a few essays
Worst professor I've ever had. Picks on people who happen to be part of a different religion from him, and he likes to argue about it. Made us read two whole books at the end of the semester. Not a good class, I felt like I learned virtually nothing.
This is what education is about! Anyone who criticises his teaching methods is someone not serious about their education. He is rather difficult compared to most at BC, but you'll actually learn something in this class. If you appreciate education this is you're guy. If you're just wanting fast easy credits stay away!
While Mr. Johnson's class is fairly standard, its his dangerous ideology that bleeds into the material that makes it terrible. He harbors a lot of far right ideas, has no problem throwing slurs around in the name of "historical accuracy," and falls into conspiracy theories about "political correctness" and "cultural marxism." Get out while you can.
Tests are based on lectures. The reading supplements the lectures. You are expected to keep up with the reading on your own. He has a different/specific way for the essays to be written; he'll give out a handout and example, just remember it when writing the test essays. Doesn't like tardiness; usually locks the door to prevent disruptions.
Prof. Johnson is a solid choice because he cares about his students and not just the grades they receive in the class. He is a little wishy-washy on assignments but most of them are worth a lot of credit.
Professor Johnson is the best professor at BC. He is honest and gives views of history that you could never imagine. He brings his sources to class so you can check it out, he will even tell you what chapter he found it so you can see for yourself. If you miss a class you will be lost.
Doc is a solid dude, go to the lectures, everyone of them. Go to the field trips, they are great. If you are devoutly religious they could be some conflict there. His theology is very much historically based and that can piss off some folks. I have seen it first hand. Im not religious and I really enjoyed the class.
Very difficult but rewarding professor. The lectures are fast but fascinating; he'll offer more context to historical events that gives a more nuanced view than you'll see otherwise, and he'll bring his sources to class. 3 major tests, offers legitimate extra credit that needs effort. Attend every class, take copious notes, and study hard to pass.
Professor Johnson is one of the most inspiring teachers at BC. He is passionate about his lectures and he is a very authentic. Though his class is tough, it is the kind of class you would not want to miss out on. The grade you work for is the grade you get and with that, I find the class outstanding. His class really makes you proud of your work!!
Lectures for the whole class while putting random words on the board and sometimes gets of course but soon learned to just write EVERYTHING and study the notes before the test and you'll be fine. If you're a good test taker you'll do well, I think the papers he makes us write are too difficult compared to the tests, they're mini dr. dissertation.
Johnson is an excellent professor. He knows his information and is very passionate about history. Although Bakersfield College is a community college, Professor Johnson provides a Unversity type lecture and exams. For those students who wish to transfer out to a Unversity, he is a professor who will prepare you.
Johnson's funny, but his lectures are erratic and hard to follow. This makes the study guide he gives out basically pointless. His extra credit is ridiculous, and his expectations for students are borderline unreasonable. However, if you have to take the class make sure to show up and pay as much attention as possible. Use office hrs!
Most openly conservative professor I've had, which shouldn't matter but does when he uses fringe conspiracy theorists (Dinesh D'Souza) as a respected source. Also thought it was weird to dedicate a good section of the class to justifying the Vietnam War, I mean c'mon! Very narrow view of power and the history of the United States.
Easy to learn from. Make sure to write down everything he says in lectures. If you miss class it will be difficult for you to pass. Very funny and high energy class.
Professor Daymon is a great choice to take for history, but get ready to have your views challenged. He clearly loves history and it shows. The final test is not cumulative, but he does require you to read and write 2 book reviews/reports, but he gives you the whole semester to read the books. DO NOT hold off on the assignment til last min.
Worst class I've ever taken in my life. Entire grade is based on three tests that you have to write essays for day of, you have no idea what the essay will be beforehand and it's not even a prompt, just a vague "tell me everything you know". Doesn't use canvas, no idea what your grade is. Easily distracted and won't answer questions during class.
3 tests and 2 book reviews make up your grade. First two tests are 60 MC ?'s and a 40pt essay where you show what you remember on the topic from the study guide. Final is 100 MC/TF. Tests are mostly based on lecture, my advice is write down everything and add the essentials on your study guide. Book reviews are due on day of the final.
I took the class to learn about Middle Eastern history/poetry/art/science, but only was lectured on jihad and far right conspiracies. While I enjoy the heavy lecture style, the professor will go off on tangents/test on whatever odd story he focused on. Learned little history, and had to read books from discredited authors (not even the textbook).
All the homework was extra credit in the form of presentations as well as writing assignments (2.5 pages). His lectures are decently confusing, he free-forms them on the whiteboard so that there is no cohesive structure. He does hand out a large unit study every section. 4 tests total, 2 writing assignments (not extra credit) (5 pages give or take)
Expects too much work from us and grades extremely hard. I had to drop the class. I advise finding another professor unless you enjoy writing your hands off for a decent grade
Professor Johnson is a great professor who wants his students to understand historical events and why they unfolded the way they did. He was very understanding of how tough the switch to online was for all of us and he was very accessible during this time. Professor Johnson has been one of the best professors I've had the privilege to study under.
If he can find someone worse to compare a bad historical figure to, he will (ie: don't criticize america's slaves, because there was a muslim slave trade). Many of his lectures focused on the west versus 'barbarism'. If you want a well rounded view of US history, I do not recommend him. His class was very easy, but he was hard to listen to.
I took Professor Johnson three times: Hist B4A, B4B, 15. He really cares about his students. There isn't a lot of work for his class, just a 1.5 page paper ahead of each test and two five page papers ahead of the final. The classes are very lecture driven, but he keeps them entertaining and tells both sides of the story. Definitely take his class.
Wouldnt recommend this professor. Easily distracted and won't answer questions during class. Very lecture heavy consisting of disorganized structure. Goes off topic about whatever random story. Tests are all that youll do besides the two final papers. Textbook for this class was a waste of money. Study guides are no help either.
Professor Johnson is a great professor; however, get ready to read your life out, to watch too many videos in each chapter. Quizzes are very confusing, I know I had the right answers in some of the questions, but they were marked wrong. I will never know what happened because the right answers are hidden.
Cool professor, lots of reading though.
I'm in university now, but Mr. Johnson is still my favorite professor. He really does care about his students and if you talk to him in his office you will find he is quite personable. I respect his knowledge of the subject and the way he made it interesting. I miss his class.
Professor Johnson is awesome. Makes sure to tell both sides of a story and expose students to different perspectives. Brings sources for his lectures to class including authors and historians with varying perspectives. Take good notes. Most of what you need to know for the tests will be in the lectures.
Very informational class about the Middle East.
Listen, I love teachers. But after the first day of being in his class I had enough. He spewed out slurs and was basically feeding us far right nonsense which he disguises as "telling the truths of history." His required reading is just a bunch of wierd rhetoric connecting civil rights to Marxism. Don't waste your time.
Here is a Prof. that genuinely cares about history and the perspectives that it is taught from. I loved taking this course. I found it beyond inspirational and it has led me to have a more inclusive but objective stance on both the past and present. He provides wonderful context and examples as he teaches and allows for open discussion.
He is extremely disorganized and provides us with no sense of direction. There is no schedule, no homework, no PowerPoints, no structure to this class at all. He has lied to my face about grades on exams saying "Most of the class did pretty well." I and all of the other students can see the average test scores. I don't think he realizes that. 0/10.
This class must have been easy because I don't remember much of it. Weekly reading quiz and a writing assignment that opens at the beginning of the class.
WORST PROFESSOR AT BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE. HE IS THE MOST DISORGANIZED INDIVIDUAL I HAVE EVER MET. ALL OF HIS "SOURCES" ARE WRITTEN BY DISCREDITED AUTHORS. DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. LIES TO HIS STUDENTS ABOUT GRADES AND JUMPS AROUND TOPICS LIKE WE'RE PLAYING LEAPFROG. CANT FINISH A THOUGHT. YELLS RACIAL SLURS IN CLASS TO GET A REACTION FROM US.
horrible experience. please save yourself and never take him or any of the classes he offers.
Lectures are great, gives plenty of time for big assignments, no surprises on exams
I have never taken a professor worse than this. His lecture style is NOT disability-friendly EVEN WITH DSPS ACCOMMODATIONS. His lectures are wildly disorganized and only attempt to prove his belief that "Progressivism is Fascism." There is no powerpoint and the only guideline for lectures is a study guide that he barely follows.
The reason is because he called me awkward in the comment after I was reading his project writing lieing errors he is telling me and I didnt know why he called me such a bad thing that he shouldn't tell his students that whoever like this teacher is horrible and doesn't understand others.
The lectures are worth attending as the professor explains concepts well. However, the workload can be heavy, with numerous writing assignments. Utilizing study tools like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook can be helpful for exam prep. Overall, a mixed experience.
The readings provided were heavily biased towards Israel and made islam out to be a religion filled with hatred. At first I thought they were informative but by the second page (no joke) the bias was obvious. He did respond to my emails though in a timely manner. Timed tests weekly and two six page analytical essays on the books for the final.
Professor Johnson has a very open bias towards conservativism which is present in his teaching. He is VERY disorganized in his lectures, and I found it extremely frustrating to take notes with how fast paced and incoherent he could be at times. While my views were challenged, which is important in college, I would not recommend him to anyone.
He can be a bit awkward at times, however, he is funny too. His lectures were easy to understand and made the material of the course even more interesting. The exams are pretty basic of easy and so are the papers. Just give effort and you'll do fine.
Took both B17A and B4A for this professor in the same semester. While his beliefs and statements can be controversial at times, he always felt easy to engage with. He accepts alternate viewpoints very well, and is incredibly unbiased in his grading in spite of political views. Unsure what this site states, but I took him in Fall of 2023.
He makes sure his lectures are the full-time schedule and only grades on 4 things the whole semester. 2 book reports due by end of November 6 pages each. The 3 exams are based on lecture and have 50 multiple choice questions. Gives out a study guide that you use to take notes while in lecture. But he offers around 25 points of extra credit.
I thought Professor Johnson was the pretty good really liked his lectures very entertaining only thing that was annoying is he would flip around over a bunch of topics all the time but overall good professor
