Mr. Butzow is by far the nicest teacher I have ever had. He is very cheerful everyday and helps you out whenever you need it. Sweet person!

Nice man, very clear in his lectures, tests are straightforward. Also taken an interest in the students' personal lives and career interests. Will help any student in any way, both for the class and anything outside the class. Big weather geek, which can be kind of fun. Definitely take his classes!!

Everything has pretty much been said, Dean is awsome and is probally the nicest teacher at LLCC. Hes very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the subject so take his class if you get the chance.

He is really great, take him for sure. He makes complicated stuff easy and he is so nice. A little silly at times, but ya gotta love it. He is a sweety.

If you find Geography interesting or not, be sure to take Dean as your teacher! He makes his classes interesting and fun, and has quite the sense of humor. He's a great teacher!

Professor Butzow is, by far, the best science professor I have ever had. Dean is a great instructor! I had him for physical geography at Western Michigan University, during fall of 2000. In fact, his teaching style was simplistic enough for me to make my only A in a college science course! I highly suggest taking him. Particularly if you are a non-science major trying to pass a general science requirement.

My advise is to study the power points because you are tested on what he said in lecture and in the power points, not necessarily all the textbook. He was helpful and very accommodating when you need help. Compassionate and just GREAT!

Butzow is AMAZING in a word. Very sweet guy, his attitude makes you want to learn! Very easy to talk to. He's adorable about the weather, I miss his bi-weekly reports.

im now in my senior year and prof butzow has by far been my favorite teacher between either of the two schools i have gone to! really loves his material, and would go out of his way for any student. i wish i had a lot more professors like him!!!

Lots of Notes, but on power point, so easy. Grades are Map Quizzes, Exams over regions, and assignments over mini movies. He gives extra credit on map quizzes.

Did his online Geography. He did a great job with the material. Not easy but kept it interesting.

Great class to take if you need to fulfill requirements. Butzow is a decent teacher--shows enthusiasm for his classes. For World Regional Geography, though, there are plenty of writing assignments (2-3 page reports on discussion topics, not bad). Tests are reasonable, usually composed of (mainly) multiple choice with some short answers.

Great teacher! Goes out of his way to help students learn and be interested in topic. Uses some of his own photos, which shows that he is genuinely interested in what he teaches. Fun projects. I learned a lot. I even nomintated him for an award. I would recommend him to anyone.

Awesome guy! Makes physical geography interesting. His class was my favorite this semester. I love how he's a weather nerd! Material is all on powerpoints, never used the book.

Took online. Not super hard if you do the work. Dean is super helpful and active in the online realm. Would strongly recomend this teacher. He just won some teaching award too.

Dean was a great teacher and definitely attractive for an older man. His quizzes and tests were hard at times, but he is always willing to help. I had an old version of the book and he helped me print updated study questions from his book. I recommend him as a teacher to anyone!

Best professor I have had in my life. He is a great guy and treats everybody great. The class would be hard without his lectures, the information will stay with you like glue after he talks about it.

He was extremely caring, and really funny. He individually connected with his students and made class fun for everyone. Plus, I learned a lot!

Good teacher. Makes class pretty easy. Study for all tests and an A is fairly easy. Lots of notes but pretty much everything on the test is from the notes.

He is very enthusiastic about his classes and also makes them entertaining. He is also very kind. His test are usually very easy if you study your notes taken in class. You do take a lot of notes everyday which some people may not enjoy.

Dean is an incredible professor. I almost changed my major to geography because of how interesting he made the subject- I took all the geog classes I could. He knows his stuff! No better professor to learn geography from.

It says something about a man's character when he can show up and teach a class with such passion and enthusiasm that he has been teaching for years, even when most students are just checking the block. Most people would get bored and begin to phone it in after a point, but Butzow is truly and amazing professor! He makes geography interesting!

Let me specify: some lectures seem long. Professor Butzow focuses on economy and a variety of maps in his Regional Geography class, rather than culture, which can lead to a few boring class hours. But his passion for his subject and care for his students makes up for it. Be prepared to use Google Earth every week.

This professor is amazing! He is hilarious, and the material, if you pay attention and take notes, can be fun to learn and easy to understand. He is very helpful, and very clear in relation to what is expected of his students. I really enjoyed having him in class, I would love to have him teach another class of mine!

Professor Butzow is the best teacher I have had at LLCC, he is very passionate of his work and makes would be boring subject very interesting with punchlines with up to date topics. I have been out of his class for months now and recently went on a trip and still remember what he taught me! Wish I have more teachers like him, he makes learning fun!

Lectures are long but he makes the class fun. He LOVES the weather so much that its kind of funny. He even has a pair of doppler radar shoes. He is passionate about Geography and tries to make the class enjoyable for everyone. I struggled in his class but still love showing up. Notes are taken every day of class. Tests were all multiple choice.

Butzow is definitely passionate about his subject, he loves what he teaches and it makes a difference in learning the material. I took his class online, ridiculously long Power Point lectures, but easy to understand and the assignments are simple and straightforward. 10 question quiz every week over material. Good class.

Lectures are so long and boring! He is really interested in the material he teaches and wants you to do well, but tough class because the content was boring.

Dean is a phenomenal professor who really cares about the material and is always open to questions. His lectures tend to be very long, however, they are filled with information that are difficult to forget. He is a big fan of football as well. Do not be afraid to approach him about questions as he is a very open minded person! Strongly recommend!

Dean Butzow is probably my favorite professor I've had so far at Lincoln Land. He is so passionate about his subject. He is a geuinely kind person who really wants you to learn. He makes you feel very comfortable asking questions and earns respect from students through his crazy knowledge and good heart. Love professor Butzow!

I took the online course. I highly encourage you to download the powerpoint presentations so you can access them to study with. The quizzes and tests are shortly timed so you really need to know the material!! It was a very good course though. You can tell Professor Butzow is very passionate about the subject matter.

great lectures, very outgoing, not a hard class

If you take this class online, be sure to follow directions and check daily for assignments you may have overlooked. Also, download google earth pro, if you can't get regular google earth to load with the options you need for the exercises. Pay attention to the PowerPoint. There may be 5 multiple choice answers where 2 seem correct.

Very fun teacher. One of my favorites. Would take him every semester if I could. Notes everyday, but he makes it fun. Always start the day off with looking and talking about the weather.

Mr. Butzow will forever be my favorite professor at LLCC. He was my first professor and he's the best to take when you're new to college. He's like a dad of college kids. He is willing to talk if you ever need to. He wants everyone to exceed but he expects you to do the best you can. He is an amazing teacher.

You need to go to class because he does not post his slideshows inline but you could get away with googling stuff. it was a very fun anc chill class. i would take him again if i had the chance

Mr. Butzow is amazing!!! He loves the weather and will start at the beginning of each class with telling you what the weather is for the day. Hes always positive and loves what he does, tests can be tricky but he offers lots of extra credit. Definitely one of my favorite professors going to miss his weather and climate class.

For someone not a big fan of science or anything related I loved this class. Mr. Butzow was the perfect professor to take it with. You will have a lot of homework, quizzes and test. You can get away with googling for help. If you have questions he will reach back out within 2 hours. Take his class online you will not regret it!

I have taken three of his classes (GEG 102, GEG 103, GEG 201) and I would happily take any more if I could. He really cares about his students. He keeps his classes entertaining while also making sure his students understand. If you are interested in Geography or Weather, sor just need another class, I completely reccomend Dean.

Dean has to be one of my favorite Professors at LLCC. He is always excited to teach the subject. A few things that will help you in Dean's classes will be to study and make sure you take good notes. When he announces extra credit do it. His Extra credit assignments are the best Extra credit assignments I have done.

Dean Butzow is the best professor I've ever had (4 universities and a Bachelor's). He is wonderfully kind, and fantastic at explaining basic geographical studies. I changed my major because of Dean. He is clear, direct, funny, passionate and an easy grader. I took ever class he offers at LLCC. GPA boost and a wonderful time. INTERESTING too!! best.

Professor Butzow is my favorite LLCC professor I have had yet. GEG101 requirements were clear and interesting too! Good class setup as well. He is the most caring professor and gives feedback to you on everything! Highly recommend!!

He is passionate about what he teaches and there is nothing worse than a teach who has no passion. He likes to learn with his students but if you dont put in the work you wont pass. I have gotten to know him and hes a professor who makes you want to come to class. Taking his geography course helped me realize thats what I want to major in.

Professor Butzow, in my humble opinion, is the gold standard of online teachers! Some of my other professors could learn a few things from this guy right here. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher for one of my favorite topics--weather!

Mr. Butzow is like a cloud. He has a great personality and truly cares. I found the material to be difficult, but he takes the time to help! He is very informative and knows a lot about his field. His lectures are heavy on the slides; quizzes and tests are a mix of lab and notes. He also has radar sneakers and lots of science pun shirts.

I wish I could take more classes with Dean! Such a great teacher who encourages all students that they are living what they are learning. He makes it so easy to apply what we are learning to our lives. While there are quite a few tests, his lectures have everything you need! Show up, talk, take notes, and have fun!

Hands down the best professor I have had so far. Very kind and genuinely cares about his students. I am a very lazy student and I actually care about his class solely due to his personality. I could easily have a 103 in his class like my classmates if I wanted, and he is very gracious when it comes to my health condition keeping me out of class.

Professor Butzow cares a lot about what he teaches. He is a great guy and loves answering questions. He lectures most of the class, and the tests aren't the easiest. Besides that, he grades easily and almost never takes points off homework. I also found the class to be very fun!

Professor Butzow clearly cares a lot about the subject that he is teaching, and I appreciated that he gave an extra credit opportunity as well as made a weekly to-do list with due dates to make sure you don't miss any of the assignments. The exams and quizzes are all very based on the textbook, so make sure to read the text and take good notes.

Amazing Professor. I have an 8 a.m. class with him and he makes the early mornings enjoyable. Lenient with attendance if needed, take good notes during the lectures and you'll do fine on the tests. Very engaging and a wonderful personality. Taking him again next semester!

I love this guy. I honestly do not care about Geography, but he cares so much about what he teaches, it transfers to my heart. He does lecture a lot, even after exams, he would start the next chapter, which was annoying, but I'd do anything to take another one of his classes. He cares about people and always accepts late work, no matter what. GOAT
