If you have the opportunity to switch classes before it's too late, do it! I learned a lot, but at the cost of sleep. Always be specific on the tests and be prepared for major writer's cramp after lectures.

I learned a great deal about writing and the historian's craft in his pro-sem class. It's college: be prepared to do work and don't whine.

he is so mean! and your hand will cramp from trying to take notes that fast.

Very intimidating, talks very quickly, expect at least 6 pages of notes a session, makes really rude comments often - take him if you have to, drop him if you can

He's a great teacher, if you listen and actually take notes and then study them, its pretty straight-forward. Yes, your hand will kill you after class from all the notes, but at least class goes by FAST, plus sometimes he's funny.

He's a hard teacher, but if your looking for a class where you have to earn some respect, this is the class to take. I don't know why everyone is being a total di** towards him, I learned to much, and actually walked away learning something in his class.

He's a nice man, people say he's "satan" because he actually expects kids to study and take notes. This isn't highschool anymore, you actually do have to learn something. I loved this class and it is possible to get good grades.

He talks sooo fast! Never strays from his lecture. Doesn't always keep the class for the entire period. You won't have to use your book ever but you'll definetely have to study a lot of notes to pass. If you don't mind memorizing then you'll learn a lot.

People who make poor comments on this man are seriously lazy and need to examine why they are in school. No one in the hist. dept puts in more effort than he. Prove yourself as a student and earn his respect. Find out what your abilities are by taking him

All profs that teach survey courses talk fast. Must be freshmen who say he talks too fast. Yea, let's take the easy way out. I worked hard earned an "A" and for once felt pride in my accomplishment. Sissies go home

I am glad to see people finally giving this man the respect he deserves. He knows his stuff and expects you to be the student you are supposed to be. I earned a B in his class and felt a greater sense of accomplishment than any class I received an A in.

Thought he was too grumpy at first but realized how much work he puts into the class. Expects you to act as a university student.Respect him and he will respect you. Study for the tests.

I worked hard and received the grade I deserved. A little on the grumpy side but does has a sense of humor.

The person who said this man is Satan will probably flunk out because their lazy. He just expects you to work and apply yourself. If you don't he does not want to waste his time.

I find it hard to take notes in his class sometimes. It was the same way last semester with Dr. Miller. The guy is not Satan just covering what needs to be covered in a survey course. Work hard and EARN a good grade.

Teaches 100 level history courses like thier seminars, but what do you expect? I'm sure all history professors hate teaching 100 levels. Study, take good notes, and you will do fine.

I found Fafoutis to be a good instructor. He has an off the wall humor and will help you outside of class.

very good teacher.tests are straightforward and he tells you what will be on them.go to all the classes & write down EVERYTHING he says.wouldn't recommend for those who don't want to work hard.he's really a nice guy and is fair if he knows you work hard.

Expect to take notes for the entire class period. You will need to study hard for tests. Tests include multiple choice, matching, and essay sections. He grades the essay portions very meticulously. I worked my tail off for a "C" grade. Be ready

Just write down everything he says and you'll be fine. It's hard work, but he tells you the essay questions. Include details and don't leave anything out in the essay and you'll get a good grade

prof did an excellent job in class. expects you to be a student and to put time and effort into the class. we are here to learn not complain.

The man takes a great deal of pride in expecting students to work. I did just fine in his class. He can be course at times but he is interested in you learning the material.

I thought he was an extremely bright man despite lecturing fast. His tests were strait forward but challenging you just have to step up and be willing to work hard. Great Man!

Talks fast and hard to keep up sometimes but he knows what he is talking about. Gives you what questions might be on the all essay test, but he wants every detail. Nice but hard to get an A.

Hard and expects a lot from his students, but grow-up you kids are in college now. You might have to actually learn something. He is actually very willing to give help outside of class.

He is very difficult but if you follow whats going on he's great. he's very helpful if you need it and knows what hes talking about. Some people hate the note taking but suck it up... you're in college.

you people are whiners - all want is an easy class to get an easy good grade - you dont want to work or even try - he is tough but you will learn from him.

Fafoutis expects a lot from his students, but he will make you learn...In fact he gives you no other choice. While some disagree I found his lectures extremely well organized, clear, and to the point. LOTS of notes, but if you like history and acutally want to learn something this is your man.

Say what you will, he is a very effective teacher. If you follow what he instructs you to do, you can make a good grade. He has expectations and they are very clear.

THIS is a college course. If you're not a hist major or serious about the class DO NOT TAKE IT. I had about 4 pages of notes/day since day1 (I write tiny!) He gives extremely clear lectures, better than any prof I've had, and covers more material also. He will not waste your time. Very straightforward, often harsh guy. Great prof tho.

Great lecturer, talks quick but very clear and wil repeat. Its not impossible for an A, 98 avg on all the tests. I mean he gives you 70% of the test a week in advance, just study a little bit and guranteed a B. Gives a lot of notes, but will repeat anything you need, and is very approachable outside of class. Great teacher, will def take again.

He is a very good professor and very straightforward in what he expects from you as his student. His tests require an EXTREME amount of detail, but he provides you with everything you need to do well. When he gives you the essay option before the test make sure to take advantage of the time you have to collect your thoughts for the essays!

he's a gr8 teacher. i really started to like hist with him. if you are too lazy to write notes then dont take his class. he's very detailed. if you write notes, you dont have to read the book. his tests come from the notes. he also gives youthe test essay questions a week before the test and he'll help you with them anytime before the test.

He lectures the whole class and you will never use the book. do not take the class unless your willing to write atleast 8 pages of notes a day and then study about 50 for the test. It is not a hard class if you really put the time into it to study but he loves details and expects you to know everything

I found Mr. Fafoutis somewhat gruff but he is extremely hardworking and clear and concise with his lectures. I guess most of the students who rate him low do not understand what a real college course is. If you can't handle there are community colleges.

pretty average guy but can get easily ticked off. Copy notes the entire time but study them for the exams and you will be fine. Pretty average class so if you take him that is good but if you dont then thats fine too

this man was a dream teacher. his style of teaching is wonderful.TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE..HE DA BEST!!!! you learn so much and youll be thanking yourself for taking this class all semester

Tough, very tough, no question. He does make his expectations very clear and his methods do work. Just get ready to write notes like you've never wrote before and memorize them before the test. It's not fun or interesting but it's very straightforward.

I agree, you all whine too much. Fafoutis is a college professor, not a high school teacher. He is clear about his expectations and he knows what he is talking about. By the end of your class, your writing hand will be ready for anything (6 pages of notes per class). Make sure you ask him questions when he asks for them.

I honestly did not think this class was that horrible and I am someone who HATES history. He is very straightforward, if you just take notes then study them for the tests you will be fine. Only 2 easy papers. Most of my friends in HIST 102 had 3-5. I would take his course again. Really prepares you for future college classes study-wise.

Dean will make you work. His class is very straightforward. He stands in front of class and reads the information. All you need to do is listen, take notes and study those notes for the tests. Be prepared to write for the whole class period, but asking questions will give you a break. Tests are simply repeating all the information from lectures.

Extremely picky about his assignments and classes are non stop writing. Be prepared

He's a hard ass but keeps you on your toes. You learn a lot from him if you just do your work. It's just tests and papers , so it's not so bad.

He is an awesome dude. i would say his class is probably one of the hardest i've ever taken but if u are unclear about anything just stay and talk to him and he'll tell you what you need to know. the grade is based on 3 tests, including final, and 3 outside papers, the papers were really easy. u just need to study your butt off for the tests

Unless you are a complete slacker don't take this class. No textbook use, simply write everything he says, study it, and you will do well. He will lecture at fast speeds for long periods of time so shorthand, type fast, if you miss class get notes. He is hilariously brutal never hesitating to humiliate you for sleeping or texting so avoid both.

people giving bad ratings are just complainers. it was ALOT of writing but it wasnt that bad, ask questions to slow him down. he is VERY helpful and will answer any of your questions. strict on essays but they are only on a few pages from a book so you dont even have to read the whole book. take notes and study, you'll be fine.

He hits you with a lot of information in lectures and expects a lot of detail on tests and essays. Very helpful and approachable. If you are unclear about anything talk to him, he'll explain it. Pay attention in lectures and ask questions when you need to. Definitely knows his stuff.

One of my favorite teachers at salisbury. You have to pay attention and attend every class or else you'll fall behind. The weekend before the exam someone stole my book bag which contained all of my notes. I emailed him the next morning and he sent out an email to the entire class asking if I could copy their notes. It was extremely helpful.

I had him back in 1993 and 1994. Yes a lot of information and tough tests, but was always available to speak to after class and more than willing to work with me if I had an issue. Learned a lot but I had to work for it. Comes off as not warm and fuzzy but is very helpful one on one.
