Great professor, extremely helpful, knows his stuff, and very approachable. You can tell he really cares about his students and wants them to do well. Don't let him scare you at the beginning of the semester. The material really isn't that hard and his exams are fair, but long. Holds online live tutorial before midterms and responds to e-mails fast

He's not a bad teacher, but he does try to scare you at first. First midterm is really hard, but it gets better. The m-cQ on the companion website for the book are very helpful. He will spend a lot of time with you in his office to explain everything and make sure you understand. I would recommend him.

He's such a nice prof. The material itself is not the easiest, learning to use the SPSS software was tricky, and the class is probably the one most psyc students dread the most. But he did a great job trying to make it as interesting as possible and he is very helpful. The textbook he uses is really great it makes stats as fun as it can be!

If you want an A in this class, you have to work really hard, do not procrastinate! He is very helpful when you go see him with a question, so long as you have tried to find the answer yourself before going to him. Most people seemed to find his tests unfair but they really were not that bad. However, he offers very very little feedback!

idk why everyone is raving about this teacher, he is the one person I would NEVER take a class with again. He missed the drop deadlines so when half the class failed his midterm, they were stuck. He also makes promises he doesn't keep such as "the next exam is easier' or 'you will have more time'. DON'T believe him! (I loved stats before his class)

Dean is a great teacher but he does make you work for every mark throughout the entire semester. The exams are tough because of the amount of material covered (all material covered in class and the ENTIRE book is fair game). Don't let this scare you, he is incredibly clear in explanations and is the most helpful teacher at Concordia!!!

Dean is a great teacher. His tests are very fair but you gotta study well. They are very long tests, in which you barely have time to finish. However, they aren't impossibly hard if you study enough. Dean's lectures were always entertaining! Tests are mostly based on lecture material although a few questions are from the textbook. Tries to incorporate participation for marks, although allows students to opt out and complete their "participation marks" by writing a paper instead (so you don't even have to attend class).

Honestly, it's a LOT of work. Had to read a huge book, aside from everything else we had to study for. First two midterms were pretty brutal (I feel like he looked for ways to take off marks any way he could) but the final was VERY easy so I guess he decided to cut us some slack, which was appreciated. Labs were okay but it rly depends on your TA.

dean is funny and nice, however he goes hella fast and his lectures are sooo long. like so much material in one class. its nearly impossible to keep up. this class made me want to end it all, the cause of multiple mental breakdowns. also the textbook had mistakes in it...not cool. also the lab was complicated af and TA didn't know what was going on

The course content is very theory heavy, which he livens up with lots of funny jokes. Very caring teacher who works to make sure his students understand as much as possible. Exams seemed generous since you could choose which long answers to do. Just be prepared to learn lots of theories!

Dean was a overall good prof to have for this relatively difficult stats course. For the amount of content that had to be conveyed over the semester, I dont necessarily blame him for having to go fast. My only warning would be for the lab portion of the course, uninspiring assignments made the lab useless for the lecture content. Overall i fw Dean

Dean is a great prof. He really knows how to deliver the material. His classes are heavy (due to their nature like statistics or learning), but he does a wonderful job of laying a solid foundation and then building on that steadily. Might seem like the Grinch at first, but he's really got a big heart and he really cares about his work. Go Dean!

Absolutely terrible prof. The material he teaches is high-school level but he grades as if he's teaching rocket science. Sorry but having arbitrarily impossible grading criteria doesn't "elevate" your class or make you a good teacher. He'll dock points even if you understand the material but don't use the exact phrasing he likes. Avoid.

Worst professors I've ever had. While the class material is straightforward, tests are poorly designed and do not accurately reflect material learned. Class average for the midterm was abysmal, barely reaching the low 60s. I'm not sure if there are any other professors for this course, but I sincerely hope future students have alternatives.

The problem isn't me! There goes my ivy league grad school applications... Terrible terrible prof and awful exams and grading criteria. AVOID!

Dean is a great prof. Yes, you need to read the textbook, but it will only be for 2-5 MCs at most. If you go to class, engage, ask questions, and study hard, you will be totally fine. Don't let these reviews scare you. This was one of the best classes I took so far, and he is one of the best profs I've had, too.

Please don't take him for either 315 or 351. Just don't. He is a good person but a bad professor. My 315's class average was like 60? 60 something, and now is the same thing for 351. I find his explanations for math-related content not clear, you end up having to teach yourself the material.

I ended up doing well in this class but only because I had him for two classes previously and was prepared for the final. Look, my A+ comes from taking stats as a part-time student, so I'm aware of that privilege. However, if you can, my BEST advice is to do the textbook exercises. Pls. A lot are super similar to the exam. And learn his definitions by heart, because yes he ducks pts for using slightly different terms. Also, go to his office hours!! He's super helpful!

Expect 80+ confusing MC questions, full of double negations and paragraph-length wording on top of fill in the blanks and long answer questions. A professor should be rated on ability to transfer knowledge and to engage learning, not on public speaking. Avoid.

He didn't want to prepare us for the tests at all and rolled his eyes at students, in front of everyone, for asking for help. We got no practice questions. Great lecturer—explains complex ideas clearly with great projection and humour. Checks if we're following and genuinely cares, often stays after class. Exams can be oddly worded, but he takes feedback after. Prompt replies on email/Moodle. The course relies more on lectures than the textbook, so you have to show up for class. Overall, great prof!

Very nice and fun prof, but exams were insanely awful. Usually, in exams you'd be tested on what's taught in the powerpoints. But for his exams you had to know how to apply the information. You could study as much as you can, but nothing could've prepared you for the final. MC questions were so confusing and worded differently from the powerpoints.
