Prof. Proessel's weekly readings are usually not short or light in any means, so you'll have to put time for that, but they're very insightful. Show up to class and pay attention, and reach out for feedback on assignments. I found his feedback really useful and it helped me boost my grade. If you already enjoy philosophy, I would recommend him.

I had the best expirience with him. He has long lectures which helped me learn better. He really cares about his course and his students. As a student with accomadations, some professors are not understanding. But he was so kind and understanding the whole way. He provides extensive feedback on the essays which is super helpful. Loved this prof

I was a bit scared after reading some of these reviews about this professor. However, I had a completely opposite experience to what is said here. I loved him as a teacher. He wants to know how students feel about his lectures, and everything and appreciates any feeback to he recieves to improve his teaching. Overall, excellent experience.

Had a good experience with him. The only thing was essay instructions should be better. It got confusing at a point in time. But otherwise, everything else was good. Had a good experience with him.

Dean is a fantastic professor! I see comments about him being very scatterbrained -- maybe a little. His thoughts are coherent and make sense, however. You just have to pay attention. He's a smart guy with lots of energy so it's not easy for everyone to follow him but that's not necessarily his fault. He's very patient, very humble and very kind

Paper outlines weren't always clear, but feedback was. You can chat with him in office hours and he'll be glad to help. Super nice/positive/genuine guy who loves his job. Always has a smile on his face No content in class except discussion + no participation mark = no attendance from me Just make sure your papers are very tied to the thesis!

Honestly, he's a great professor. He really cares about his students. His lectures are long but thats because he truly wants to make sure that students understand content. He assigned seperate zoom office hours just for the course. He's very easy to reach for help.

Class was easy in that the papers are opinion-based by supporting your argument with philosophers' theories. However, lectures and weekly papers are long and easy to fall behind. Good feedback and assignments were easy as long as you followed his question outline. The final was harder than the two papers.

Avoid this course and professor. Poorly structured and disorganized lectures on broad topics. Dr. Proessel did not clearly explain what the topic even is or adequately summarize what the authors core points were. Instead, his overly long lectures were dry, filled with tangents, and had no clear direction or structure for explaining the topic.

I did pretty well in both media and business ethics, even though i am in BMOS and not a very strong essay writer at all. Grading is very fair and the prof is very likeable. I recommend these courses to everyone. Buy the textbooks because they are very helpful!!! Everyone ended up borrowing mine.

Dr. Proessel was one of the kindest teacher I had. If you need help, he will try his best to help you out in the best way he can. He is super caring and understanding too. One tip for future students would be, anytime you are confused, just reach out to him. The more engaged or the more you try to clarify things with him, you'll do well.

Took 2074 to try to get an essay grade. Withdrew from it because of how awful it was. Essays are graded extremely hard and when I asked for a grade revision there was no help. Prof seems nice (online course so hard to tell) but not willing to talk about grading and/ or revise it. Overall i say don't take the class.

Please don't take a Proessel class. He's the most unorganized professor I've ever been with. Lectures are 3 hours long, and when you try to ask him a question about anything, it will take him 2 weeks to a month to reply via email. How are you supposed to learn properly when you can't ask questions? The final is also ridiculous. Terrible.

Professor Proessel really cares about his students. His lectures are insightful, but can be long. Reach out for feedback - it's very helpful. unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the free course materials. Overall, a good experience if you're willing to put in the work.

I found the grading to be excessively harsh, especially given the effort and understanding I demonstrated in my work. It's disappointing when communication is lacking, and grading feels unreasonably strict without clear justification. I hope future students have a better experience in terms of feedback and more balanced evaluation.

Exactly what a philosophy prof should be. I can see why ppl find his lectures hard to follow. He doesn't teach linearly, he's roundabout for a reason - teaches in layers instead of laying it all out, the way philosophy should be taught. Humble, very fun guy, my favorite prof. Strong literacy skills to be expected in his classes though.

Whole class was a mess. He stepped in on short notice to teach after the original prof dropped out for whatever reason, the one TA is an international student who unfortunately doesn't speak English well, gives impossibly unfair marks and is not organized whatsoever.

Great guy, you can really see his passion for the course material. Feel really bad for his cause he had to be a last minute replacement for another prof but made good with what he had. Would love to take another class of his where he had more time to prep. 9/10
