Dean Wallace has been teaching accounting for many years. He must be very proud of himself in that he is able to teach (in bored fashion) at an very complex/genius level. Financial accounting is 10x more complex than algebra. Don't get Mr.Wallace.
Wallace is quite the accomplished accountant, as he will let you know first day of class. Unfortunately he forgets to remember that most people taking his course at community college arent as apt in his area of expertise. A good professor doesnt only know
WALLACE is an extremely hard teacher. I honestly do not recommend him. He's a very smart man and knows what he is doing but can't teach accounting. More than half the class drops. If you can avoid him...do!
Professory Wallace is a very smart man, but maybe to smart to be teaching. His test are VERY hard and the quizzes that he issues after every chapter, half the time don't end up helping your grade cause more than half the class gets zero's. I definitally recomend taking this course with a different instructor.
Very difficult. Very hard tests!! Harder than CPA exam!
hey y'all dean wallace is very nice. y'all are too lazy. i am in his class and i am going to end up with an A. straight up. he teaches from his experience and tht os very motivating. you just need to like the subject and you will be ok .
Very knowledable, but moves very fast in his teaching. Gives you a lot of resources, but it doesn't help as much as you might wish. When I went in for help, he gave me a copy of an old quiz and the answers and said "Here ya go, figure it out"... which didn't really help at all consitering I was there because I was lost...
do not take this professor! he DOES NOT explain material very well @ all! doesn't give anyy helpful info over tests!!!! we had to do a VERY LONNNGG annual report..mine was @ least 40 pages..and it was super hard and took me all night to do! just don't take him!
If you study, you'll do good.. if you don't study, you'll fail. The subject is hard, not the teacher. I had to drop this class the first time I took it the prof was horrible and the whole class was failing.... with wallace I got an A. You get out of it what you put in it--- ask a lot of questions.
DON'T take this professor! He lectures as if his class is made up of CPAs. He's nice, but doesn't explain things clearly enough when this is your first experience with accounting. His class is too difficult for an introductory course.
Good teacher. Wants to help as much as possible. Test aren't easy but he doesn't write them. Lectures are through and wants you to ask questions if need be. He gives a review sheet of what the tests will be over and tries to give clues. You need to read the book. He knows what he is talking about and is available for counsel.
Great Professor! Steady, reliable, willing to help or go a little extra. Recomend taking a Business course before accounting or having some real-world experience. The class is tough, but the professor really is one of the best. He gives great reviews, tests are in the testing center, so once every 2 weeks there is no class... Awesome teacher!
I did the online class, big mistake. It is so difficult because there really isn't any help. Ya he gives you practice problems and stuff but who does those?!?! Very difficult class to take online.
Horrible teacher. way too difficult way too fast. He does not explain anything very clearly and he is not easy to talk to if you have a question. He is also very rude, not to mention boring. there were 38 people in my class at the begining of the semester and there were about 10 left at the end. In my opinion he has no business teaching.
Do not take this guy. He is way to difficult and moves way to fast. I was so confused about everything and asking him for help only made things worse. Over 2/3 of my class had to drop because he was way to difficult and boring. Seriously if anyone sees him on the course catalog just look right past him.
please don't take him, unless oyu are prepared to fail, his tests are really confusing, over 30 kids dropped out in my class
Worst teacher ever. Drinks Vodka, that's what I know for sure. He is not confident about himself, and if you ask challenging questions to him, you bet, he is going to be mad at you. Don't take him. More than half of students dropped the class! He does not explain the material clearly, so if you do not go to tutoring, you have no chance to pass test
he is the wost professor..if ur thinking abt taking him then get ready to fail the class..it started out as 30 pplz by the time i got out it was 7 left...thats how bad of a professor he is...hes tests r hard..he teaches like we're CPA's...try to avoid him if u can!!
This is by far the best proffesor I have had since being at CCCC. I am the only one in my class to think that though. He is extremely clear and quick. I missed only one class and when I went for help and makeup he spent three hours with me. Great guy, very smart, knows what he is doing.
This guy is not a good teacher at all
This guy is pretty straightforward. 2301 isn't that tough of a class, if and only if you can think on some level abstractly. I received an easy B with only coming to most classes and listening to lecture. You don't necessarily need the book to pass either. His tests are worded poorly. Most people seem to fail because they expect to be given a grad
Great Professor. He is very clear about what he wants and the test are very reasonable. I made an easy A in this class.
Taking the online course 2301, it is GREAT! Completely self paced, you can use your text for your quizzes and tests. Excellent professor, based on the online course, because he allows you work at your own pace - which is a big plus if you are busy!
Wow... my girlfriend loved him and I freaking hate him. Asks questions and then answers them before you can think about the problem. DOn't take him. If you get stuck with this teacher, please contemplate suicide.
Took him online at the same time my brother took him at campus. He dropped because he was so confusing. Online is not clear. I only have the book to go on, and he phrases questions oddly. If I had the chance, I would go back in time and not sign up...but this is how I feel about accounting in general.
Don't believe the negitive!! This guy is great!!! He knows his stuff and he does an excellent job at explaining. He is very helpful and always resonds to questions and e-mails promptly. He is available to help you if you ask.
THIS TEACHER IS HARD. IF U TAKE HIM PREPARE URSELF TO WORK UR BUTT OFF!!!!! SUM PEOPLE SAY ITS THE CLASS BT NOT THE TEACHER. THE TEACHER HARD OR NOT THAT CLASS IS FREAKIN HARD
He knows what he is talking aobut, but he is not good at teaching it to the class, his notes on the board are unclear and hard to follow. It takes alot to understand what he is talking about and he does not make it easy to comprehend. The tests are pretty difficult and the in class quizzes just as bad.
Took him in summer school. He is really good in preparing you for what is on the test. He doesn't necessarily teach right out of the book, but everything he mentions is in full detail in the book. You should always read the chapter, don't just expect to listen to his lectures and ace the tests, but he brings a good balance to teaching the class
Took his online course. It is hard if you do not read the whole chapter, however the tests/quizzes are open book. Tests/quizzes are timed and I get really anxious and tend to blow through them so I don't run out, so if you have test anxiety, this may not be the course for you. All-in-all, I would probably take this again.
Wallace is a current CPA, Lawyer, and has an MBA-so he is wicked smart. He is awesome at "dumbing" down accounting for you. He gives a review for every test, and has extra credit on every test. Also, he gives extra credit opportunity through homework manager website. He is available during his office hours for extra help!
I had his online class and got in WAY over my head. Accounting may not be hard in a classroom setting, but I had tremendous problems tackling it on my own. I e-mailed him once and he was a very nice guy and very helpful, but his online class is very difficult.
Well what can I say... it's a self paced online class. If you take accounting online you better have some prior knowledge because you are working through it on your own most of the time (he does help if you ask!). Grading is fair and open book, but he words some questions so you aren't quite sure what he's looking for (quizes).
he's really hard; I had to say, but he's a great guy. I can easily get an A for acctg 2302 and could not get close to an A in his class. If u are major in accounting u'd better take him. Note: his tests are extreme hard. If u already have some knowledge about acctg, u will be fine in his class. If not u will have to work really hard for that.
Took his summer III class online, no previous acct experience. Obviously, you have to teach yourself. There are no ppts or other teaching tools besides the textbook. 10Q quiz on each chapter that can be tricky but not too bad. I got an A, but barely. This is a class you will have to work at. He is very helpful/prompt if you email him a question.
Took him for Summer III like the previous rater. I'm going into finance, so I thought it was relatively easy, but can see where ppl struggle. I got an A on every test/quiz/project, so it's possible if you study. Wallace isn't very helpful though since he barely responds to emails and his wording for test questions is inequitable. Take it online!
GREAT PROF. constantly ask to make sure we understand concepts doesn't mind repeating himself he MAKES SURE the individual understands....
Truly an amazing Teacher although currently unsure of my grade for his class he has always been available to help you if you take the time to see him he gives you extra credit just incase you get a bad grade on a test... if you listen and are intrested you will def.. pass
Professor Wallace is great! He is knowledgeable and experienced. He uses real-life examples to explain complex concepts easily. He is very patient and will go over any questions thoroughly. He is also quite polite and kind; this gentleman seems genuinely interested in helping his students to succeed. I highly recommend Professor Wallace!
The online course is completely self paced and on your own. The one time I sent an email, Wallace responded quickly, even on a Sunday. The final project isn't too difficult, if you do it early enough so that you have time.
Very good professor. Easy class, take 7 exams, he drops the lowest, 10 quizzes, and a project at the end of the semester. Teaches everything in depth and the tests are only what you learned in two classes. Take him!
Easy class if you show up. He gives you step-by-step instructions and exams cover 1-3 chapters which makes studying much easier!
Took online with Wallace. Not an easy course, but it is Accounting. Contact with professor was very limited, which is good everything was laid out perfectly. All online homework and quizzes are open book. The only reason you won't pass this class is if you are lazy or un-disciplined.
Excellent professor!!! You will need to attend this class on a regular basis, but a few absences won't hurt. He is always available for questions through email or office hours. You do have quizzes but most information is taught in class and there is minimal textbook use, but I do suggest using it. I actually really enjoyed this class!!
Dean Wallace is an excellent professor and very smart!(look at his profile WOW) There is no contact between students. The course for me wasn't too hard due to the prior experinace in the field but I can see how diffuclt it could be. Quizes are very tricky-make sure you read the questions-there is enough time to do so!
class is hard but lectures are clear& gives plenty of examples, plus hes a nice guy/funny so he makes it bearable. tests are easy to make a B just by coming to class/paying attention, but read the book to make an A. 4 tests with bonus points, quiz for every chapter, hw online & quizzes online just for bonus points. enjoyed this class, GREAT PROF!!
I took professor Wallace online class for Financial Accounting. The format was self paced and very user friendly. As long as you read through chapter and used some of the practice items, you will get A's on all assignments. Really enjoyed his class, and for accounting that says a lot!
His online class was pretty hard..and im good at math. I would definitely recommend taking a lecture class because learning all that stuff by yourself is pretty hard.
Great guy who knows the material on a genius level. Very amiable teaching style, though he goes fast. The concepts are hard, but he works in a clear, linear path from the basic concepts to the more complicated ones. Hard class, great teacher...
Took the online class. Self paced. 11 HW Assignment,11 pre-tests,11 chapter exams,11 bonus quizzes & 1 end of course project. Not too hard. Lots of information to digest, but it's accounting. Prof Wallace was helpful and a very good teacher. I'd probably recommend a lecture type class though as the online can get somewhat confusing. 9/10 Professor
I don't like him at all. He talks so fast, doesn't give clarity of every definition related to accounting clearly. Students who never took Acct class before in your high school or I.S., don't choose him mistakenly, you would fail, be sure. Smart guy but not helpful, tests are so hard. Not good at all for teaching accounting to the new students.
Awesome professor! I took him Fall 2013 so my review is a little late. He does go over things kind of quickly but a lot of other classmates usually will stop him and ask questions allowing you to catch up. Easiest accounting class I've ever taken! So straight forward and no use of the accounting book at all, just my accounting lab.
I took this course in Fall of 2013. He was very helpful and in the beginning I struggled with a couple of the concepts but I emailed him and he responded with in the next day and helped me understand everything. He works with you if your willing to work and will explain any questions that you might have. Just email him and ask. Great Professor.
I took this class online and if you know have the text book, this class is an easy A. It was supposed to take me the entire summer to finish but I ended up finishing in 4 weeks. It is self paced and you do not need much interaction with this professor. Easiest online course I have ever taken.
I initially had to drop the first accounting class I took with another professor because it ended up being too difficult. So I was skeptical about passing. But the self paced online class made it so clear and easy to understand. I would recommend the online class if you work full time.
Good professor, good explanation of the material, always answer your questions . Give examples so you will be prepared for the exam. Easy to get B, for A you have to work a little bit harder.
Was a very difficult class and I struggled strongly along with most everyone else in my class. Everyone sat there with a blank work and didn't understand a thing. This was such a rough class
Great professor. All you need for the class can either be self-taught or taken from his notes. Either way, his tests are pretty easy.
Gives really clear lectures, tests can be a little tricky but the handouts are extremely helpful. There is a small project at the end of the semester but is fairly easy.
The online course itself is very difficult, but if you put in some effort and go to an accounting tutor or email the professor, you'll be fine. You may want to consider taking accounting in person, since taking it online can be a bit confusing. He responds clearly to all emails. Nice guy! Really good professor though, definitely recommend him!
Professor Wallace is an amazing professor. His course was self-paced and I finished it in the first two weeks of the semester. I advise writing down all homework questions, because they will help you on all tests. He responds to emails in a timely manner as well.
I took this course online. It was a self paced course with 11 tests, 11 exams, and 11 homework assignments. Class was really easy for me to understand. There was a final project at the end but it was not that hard. This has been one of my favorite classes.
Knowledgeable Professor. good lectures and clarifies everything. tests are hard but he will try to give you best he can with bonus questions, extra credits and sometimes hints of correct answers. glad I took him. be prepare for lots of studies and to improve your accounting basics.
Very old school man. Do not expect him to go out of his way at all to make the class easier or for him to help you. Accounting is a tough subject as is and this professor fails to make it any easier. Tests are hard and the final does not replace the lowest grade. Most people fail the quizzes too. I would strongly recommend another professor.
I took the online class. It is not an easy subject so why would one expect it to be an easy class? I worked hard, turned in all assignments/quizes and tests on time. Followed all of his instructions in the final project (took almost 12 hours alone on this!). I got an A and felt like I earned it! I will try to take the next acctg class from him.
Online class is self-paced so that is nice. I got the entire class done in 2 weeks when it was supposed to be a 10 week class. Such a boring subject, but if you have to do it, I would take it with Wallace. One big project at the end and he doesn't tell you what you got so you hold your breath until final grades are posted. Easy A if you work for it
I took ACCT 2301 in the fall of 2016. Prof Wallace lectures for over an hour and a half on days that you don't have quizzes, which is every other class period. Online homework is nothing like the tests, so it doesn't help much. His tests include information that he will specifically state in class will NOT be on there. You must study EVERYTHING.
I took him for lecture. He is a nice guy but his class is very inconsistent. He doesnt go over all of the material presented on the exams, making them very hard, mostly everyone in my class either made a D or C on the tests, we all struggled. if you take him in lecture be prepared to work your butt off. I would recommend taking him online instead.
I took the class online. The course is self-paced and it was easy for me. Read and do the study plan because it helps a lot. It might take more time but it'll be worth it when you take the exams. I actually finished the course a few weeks early, with the exception of a project at the end of the semester (which isn't bad at all).
I learned quickly that self-paced classes are not for me, but I still managed. I suggest following the calendar he provides. Otherwise, the class isn't hard. Read the book and it's pretty easy. The project isn't hard. Because of my procrastination, I did about 75% of the course in 2 weeks. I don't suggest this though!
If any foreign student had not taken accounting class before in high school and still having problem to understand English language, then skip his class. He might be good for native students here in US, or Texas, but not good for foreign students for basic accounting course for the first time. Thank you.
Very intelligent professor with many degrees. Gives many real world examples in his lectures. There are 4 exams and 1 final (all multiple choice) You can skip an exam and the final will replace it. All of the homework is online and there are online and in class quizzes. This is TOUGH material and requires hours of studying but I learned A LOT!
I took this class online. The course was on pearson mastering. So the professor did not even lecture or give powerpoints. I felt like it was self taught and I had to search for information in the textbook. The textbook was not very helpful. I just wish the professor had given powerpoints or something to explain and narrow down the topics.
This was definitely the best way to take accounting. There's a lot of assignments, but you can take them whenever you want to so it's manageable. The homework questions were the hardest part because most of it was fill in the blank, but you have 3 tries to get it right. Tests and quizzes were all multiple choice.
I enjoyed Prof Wallace's class. He teaches in a straightforward manner and encourages questions. The material takes practice, but he does good examples in class. There is some opportunity for extra credit. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with the vocabulary from the book before the quizzes--he doesn't always talk about the vocab in class.
I took this class online. Finished it the first month. If you don't understand anything email him, use the free tutorlab, search the concepts on youtube. no final exam or midterm. theres an exam for each chapter, instead of being tested over multiple chapters at once like most other classes. I loved it this way. good luck. offers extra credit.
Professor Wallace is a great Professor. He constructed the class very well. He gives many real life examples to explain the lecture clearly. Great professor I would definitely recommend him.
Hard class and lecture based professor , its my second timing taking this class , I got D last semester and I thought its gonna be easy this time but its not. lots of homework and its hard. hardly student get B in this class .
I took his class online, and he made it a self-paced course. He gave all the assignments on day 1 so you can knock it out pretty quickly or pace yourself however you choose. If I had any questions, all I had to do was email him. You might have to do your own research to understand the material, but I found the class fairly easy to handle.
Professor Wallace is a great professor. He's a nice guy and genuinely is willing to help you when you need it. He always answers questions (both in class and via email) and is always willing to help. You have to read the book cause he tests over material not taught in class, but as long as you put in the work, it's an easy A. Would take again!
Class went hybrid because of COVID. Even w/ only 1 day to lecture per week, Prof. Wallace did a great job w/ everything. Tests/quizzes online thru Pearson, tons of time, not proctored. Quizlet helped me study. For hw problems, you should use the "study plan" section to work similar problems. Skimmed thru book for important formulas & definitions
This class was hybrid (no zoom or video). We had a short HW, a Quiz, and a test most weeks. The teacher was nice, but lectures were long. I found it hard to stay focused. Luckily, tests were not based on lectures but Quizes and HW. They were 15 questions (timed: 2 hours), but only took me 30 minutes. Course was flexible and self-paced (even tests).
Accounting 2301 isn't a simple class, but Professor Wallace explains concepts extremely well. He makes sure that in each lecture, everyone in the class has a good understanding of the concepts. Assignments were online for me since it was a hybrid class, but he gave multiple attempts on them. It is easy to get an A in the class if you pay attention.
Super good proff, explains all concepts clearly, and tries to make classes as fun as possible. Genuinely is a very kind person and will go out of his way to make sure you succeed. Highly recommend him as a prof.
Work is done through Pearson. Excellent professor, but self-study will need to be done. Lots of confusing concepts but he explains all of them. Tells very cool stories as well. Must attend lectures to understand the course material.
He is a really nice professor
I could not have chosen a better professor for Accounting. Accounting is very challenging, but Professor Wallace does a great job in explaining the concepts. He's also very experienced, so if you're wanting inspiration, he's the best choice. Attendance is not mandatory. There are no in class test or quizzes. All hw are through Pearson. no due date
