Very nice teacher. Very clear about what she is looking for in a paper. Strict attendence policy.

Among the top 3 teachers I have ever taken. Her presentation of the material, lecture, and articulation in explanation are great. She is very nice and her desire seemed to be that all understood what she was trying to teach.

She can be a good teacher but she talks a lot and the subject material is not always the best. a little dry for me, but whatever. If you do the work, even try do to the work, you'll be good. Very politically correct - to the point of wow that's annoying, have an opinion already.

Very clear guidelines for the four essays. The topics were interesting and the debates in our class made the topics more personal. She never put her personal opinion in on topics, which is not something that other professors would do. I really enjoyed this class.

You will earn the grade you get in this class. Those students that don't want to learn or give at least some effort should not take this class, but those who are serious about learning and enjoy learning from someone knowledgable about their subject should take this class.

I really liked her class. I got A+ on all of my assignments. However, its not because she is easy; it is because I tried. Effort and participation are all you need for this class. She was unbias when discussing topics and was open to everyone's opinion. I really liked this class. The in class debates were really fun & everyone has a voice.

It's a pretty awesome class. She always has interesting discussions. I never felt like she was pushing her opinions on me. She does give a lot of hw but all you have to do is read a short story and answer some questions. The paper topics are pretty great. I recommend taking this class if you don't mind putting in a moderate amount of effort.

Her British class rocked! Hard but very interesting! I hope I have the right professor here.

By far the best english teacher I have ever had! She had us read the novel Ishmael and it changed my life. All of the stories we read were very interesting and about important issues in our world today. She's very respectful and interacts with her students. We had a few debates and group discussions which were fun. Not a lot of hw either!

Although she can be a bit dry, I thought she was very clear in what she wanted in the essays. She makes time to help her students and gave a good amount of extra credit assignments. If you put forth the effort and do the assignments, you'll do fine. Good professor.

I miss her. She is pleasant, helpful and has reasonable expectations. Do the reading, you'll be quizzed on it. I leaned a lot about the environment from her class and the mandatory reading was interesting. She's a great English teacher. Loves people who speak up in class.

English 103 was a challenge for me but with Dr. Davis it was nice having a professor that cared if you needed help. Yes you will need to read the text books but it is college and she makes her class fun with group work. i diffinitely recommand her for eng. 103!!

Ms.Davis is a excellent teacher. Her assignments consist of the reading assignd in class and essays. Very clear on how things are suppose to be done and is very understanding with problems. Final was extremely easy. You do not need to study at all and you. Also, she likes when students raise their hands to participate in classroom discussions.

Such a nice teacher. Her lectures were pretty basic, her tests were slightly easy and her essays were really interesting to develop. She leans a bit towards environmentalism but NEVER once argued anyone's opposing viewpoints or made anyone feel stupid. Provides lots of information and handouts but overall a very thoughtful and creative teacher.

She give lots of info, great help when reading difficult poems and stories. Offers insight and grades pretty easily. Two essays, a notebook of assignments she collects, and the final is basically writing three paragraphs on different topics. i enjoyed her class!

Used to get all As and Bs until I got a C in her class. opinionated, mean (tries to appear nice), a little odd. I felt she was biased. Now in upper division and am getting As again.

Dr. Davis is one of those teachers who sometimes get a bad rep unfairly. She does have high standards, but if she can see you care about your grade, she'll do all she can to help. She's good about being available after class, & She gives ALOT of handouts. If you are one who enjoys being a literary critic, then this is the teacher and class for you.

Dr. Davis sets high standards for her students. You cannot do her assignments half way and expect a good grade, but if she can see that you care, she'll do all she can to help. Expect LOTS of handouts, which she will allow you to use for the final.If you like literary criticism, you'll like her class, if not, you might struggle a bit.

She's such an amazing and caring teacher! She's extremely helpful, respectful and organized! She likes people to participate. No homework, unless you didn't finish in class work. Her essays are on very interesting topics! I will extremely miss her! I highly recommend her! :)

Davis has high standards and grades fairly. It's English class and you write essays, so you have to put work into there or else you'll get low marks. She is VERY helpful and EXTREMELY clear.

Dr. Davis is a tough professor. She goes over the syllabus on Day 1 and she will say what she expects. If you do all of her work, keep your notebook up, and actually put effort into the essay, she will give you a grade you deserve. She's also pretty nice.

Love her! I've taken her for 3 English classes and every single one was consistent and meaningful. She deserves the respect of her students.

I took her english online class. At first i was nervous since Ive never taken an online course, but she is great teacher! Her instructions are clear and she is willing to meet outside of campus to go over questions. I don't see why anyone would want to take another teacher.

I took this class online. Dr. Davis was really helpful, she emailed comments and suggestions when we did essay outlines which was really nice because it was easy to tell what she was looking for. Her assignments were not difficult it is just important to keep up with the due dates and actually do all of the reading she assigns.

I love her. She was so nice and helpful! I took her life and death english class. I thought it would be depressing but it was actually really fun and interesting. Yes, there is a good amount of work but it's all doable. She is an easy grader. 3 essays plus a revision of the last for essay 4 and one VERY easy presentation. She is the best!!

Very helpful teacher who gives a lot of helpful advice. She really makes you think and helps with your writing skills. Also very flexible with appointments to get tips on any essays. Recommend this teacher!

I love this teacher! I took her class for ENGL 101 and loved it, she made the class simple by giving the course a theme; life and death. She helped me alot on my essay writing and i plan to take her again for ENGL 103 in the fall. I definitly recommend this professor! (:

Davis was a great teacher. She would help me improve my essays. Topic of the class is about life and death. textbooks are used lot mostly for homework and in class work. Get help from her on your essays, show up to classes, and do your work. There were many tests except for midterm and the final. offers extra credit too

This teacher stimulated my mind and pushed me to learn. I enjoyed every day, and looked forward to it like it was kindergarten. Lots of group activities, and cares about her students.

All the positive comments are true about her helpfulness, clarity, and her push for class-cohesion/participation. However, it was quite a bore. Did not walk away from this class with any ingenuity. If you want to be challenged intellectually, look somewhere else.

This professor is amazing. Her lectures are interesting, and she really makes you THINK. It is true that there is a lot of work, but it's simple: just do it. Her English 101 class follows a theme of life & death. Some heavy topics throughout the class. The class has a lot to offer. I feel I learnt a lot and vastly improved my essay writing. There is a fair amount of work. She is a clear & helpful teacher. Fair grader. Take this class if you want to learn & improve,not if looking for an easy pass.

I thought Doctor Davis was one of the best English teachers ever. She cares about her students and actually helps you improve on your writing skills. Although she is very critical, shes helpful in many ways! If you have the oppurtunity to take her, please do! Shes great!

Dr. Davis is willing to look over rough drafts of essays, which is great, and she gives extensive feedback through speech and on paper. The theme of the class revolves around the end of life death, which can bring you down after four months in the class. An A is extremely achievable.

This class goes a lot of work. There are three big projects composed for 5 different papers each. Her quizzes, especially in class, are super hard! Otherwise, I enjoyed the class. She is a caring professor and will meet during office hours to help you succeed.

There is a lot of work to be done. Do not procrastinate on anything or else you will suffer. I thought it was a very good class and improved my writing skills a lot. I think she is an average grader. This is a real college course. You have a lot of work and put effort into it and you will be good. Don't let the amount of work scare you.

Very articulate and really cares. The theme is Life and Death and keeps you interested with short stories and essays that get you thinking. There is quite a bit of writing so be prepared. She doesn't tolerate 'essay due flu' so do the work and your writing skills will grow with her feedback.

I've had Dr. Davis for 2 English classes and she is fantastic. She is a tough grader but I appreciate a good challenge. She is incredibly helpful if you are willing to do the work and EARN a good grade. She is incredibly smart and very articulate. Definitely is one of the best English teachers at COC and I would take her again!

One of the best English teachers i have had in my life. Clearly wants all students to do well in her class. Makes you write quite a bit throughout the semester but it pays off because my writing skills have improved exponentially. The textbooks are essential, there is a bit of reading to be done throughout.

Greatest english professor so far at COC. She truly wanted the best for her students, so if you think she's nagging you, its because she cares. Lots of reading, don't miss too many classes you definitely won't pass. Tough grader on Essay's and Quizzes but she always gives good feedback!

Dr. Davis is a great professor. I'll be honest, I did not put in the time and effort to be successful in her class. I do think she did assign lots of reading and lots of time consuming work, but her essays were not difficult and If I had more time, I think I could've done better.

She is an awesome teacher, but to get an A, get ready to work! By going to her office hours it saved me though. So much good feedback and she really does want to help you. Don't recommend post posing assignments and studying.

This class is work, don't take it if you're not willing to put the work in. The class material is super interesting. Read the material thoroughly to do well on the quizzes! Theres lots of writing for this class. It's a points based class so every point counts! Dr. Davis is very helpful. Overall, this class was academically and personally rewarding.

i took this honors class in spring, and it was basically what i expected for an honors class: alot of work. she is an amazing teacher that helps her students understand the skills needed for her class and beyond. be prepared for portfolios consisting of alot of research and critical thinking. I ended with an A but it was a tough A to get

Do not take this class unless you are willing to work for it. Since this is an honors class there was a heavy assignment load and tons of reading. Having peer review is really helpful for essay's. Dr. Davis makes herself available for her students and is quite humorous.

Professor Davis wants you to succeed in her class. She makes a dry subject interesting and the writing choices make you think and research. My best writing class so far at COC. Lots of interaction with other students and honors includes a group project that was fun.

This class was so hard, but so rewarding! Take the time to meet outside of class with Dr. Davis and she will guide you on exactly what you need to do to get a good grade on your papers. She really cares about her students and grades very fairly, putting more importance on each quiz and portfolio to correspond with our progression and learning.

Dr. Davis is a wonderful professor. With a heavy load of papers and deep critical thinking, time management is crucial. Highly recommend using her office hours even if you deem yourself academically astute. Dr. Davis teaches the rigors of analyzing the arguments of films and arguments of writers. You will be challenged, but this class is rewarding.

I took English 101 with her in the fall and she was a great professors. She genuinely cares about her students and truly wants us to improve as a writer while giving us interesting books and topics to read about. She is also gives great feedback! Would definitely take her again, no doubt.

Mrs. Davis is well rounded, intelligent, and kind. The material we read was very interesting and relevant to the class and present society, and we had choices on which topics we would focus on as the semester continued. She encourages class engagement and none of the work feels unnecessary. She gives incredible feedback and well balanced grading.

I had taken English before, in high school. Professor Davis taught me more in a semester than I did in all of high school. While she is a tough grader, she gives extra credit and believes that conversation between students is important. The reading material was unlike any Ive ever had before, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Even though she gives many papers and many sections to read from the book, she is honestly a great professor. The workload is alot and can be overbearing if you take many classes. But she is really nice teacher. Her feedback is really helpful and I improved on many papers because of it. Just be aware of the workload, not for busy schedules.

If you want to learn how to make essay writing easy for the rest of your college career, Professor Davis is ideal. She is incredibly qualified and knows what shes talking about. Contrary to popular belief, she is not a tough grader as long as you follow her grading criteria. If you dont pay attention, you wont do well. Shes great, though!

I took her class during fall 2019. It was a great class and I got an A, but that was through hard work. There isn't really a text book but she had us rent a book called They Say, I say. Don't rent the book. You never really need it in class and there's a free pdf and even an audiobook online. She will improve your writing skills and help you.

She was such an amazing English teacher. Kind, engaging. The work was easy, as long as you don't procrastinate on the portfolios. Her grading is somewhat generous and there is not too much homework besides this. In my opinion, this class was an easy A as long as you put work into the portfolios.

I had her online honors course due to the pandemic and the class was super manageable and genuinely very interesting. Weekly discussion posts and quizzes, but if you do the reading she assigns it's not too bad at all. Essays and research papers are a big part of your grade also, but she helps you out a lot by providing clear online resources.

You have to read a book (she gives u the choices) that will help you write essay 3. Discussion/replies weren't difficult. I learned a lot!

She was a wonderful teacher and really helpful. She assigned 3 papers over a 16 week course, but provided lots of feedback for each rough draft and attached really helpful powerpoint as to how to be successful in her class. She allows up to 80 extra credit points per student, so take advantage of that. I really enjoyed her class.
