Her tests are somewhat difficult and questions can be very random. Very condescending with students that dont grasp material right away and need help. Very anal about lab data and will make you redo entire lab if data isnt good enough according to her.
she is cool, available if you need help, she will help you if you ask during test and quizes, she is anal about labs but she tells you what you did wrong and you get all the points when you are done. The test are long but if you study you will do well.
her class is hard but she does a great job of explaining things. yes, it's true about her labs, you do finish them at each lab but then they are done for good. no lab practical! she really is a good teacher. just hard
Explains things pretty good. Homework is only suggested, but its a good idea to keep up. Test were moderately difficult. Try to take Berg if you can.
really smart person. really bad teacher. take berg.
Intelligent teacher and helpful. Labs are a pain but they help a lot. hw is never assigned. quizzes aren't announced a lot. tests were moderate and based on her study guide. some questions were random.
she doesn't teach good, and her tests are harrrrrrrrrrrrd.
Quizes preview tests, which are based on unassigned homework. Material is presented decently but quickly. Plenty extra time given on tests. She requires correct labs for points but will help until you get it. She cares, chem is just tough
good prof. knowledgable and concerned about students; however, must approach her first. may appear condescending at first but that's just the way she is. nice, efficient. take good notes cause tests are totally based on lecture. final isn't bad...
She a easy teacher but she give a hard test .It have a lot of trick on the test .But she give more time to finish it.
She is an awesome teacher, fun in class, and willing to explain everything one more time. Yeah you have to study for tests and do the lab, but she prepares you. And even better, ... NO HOMEWORK!
Is willing to give help if you ask, don't hesitate. Hopefully there are no annoying people in your lab, dipole-dipole, ugghhhhhh!!!
Dr. Franke is a good teacher and is very willing to help people. lab is frustrating because she is picky, but you will get an A if you stay and finish. The tests are easy if you use the sttudy guide.
Such a great teacher, she is very helpful and really cares about her student. But you have to be the one who needs to break the ice. Test are long and hard, lots of study required. Final isn't too bad. No HW but there should be b/c it's hard materials. One of the best at MC, definitely take her!
This is definately one of the best teachers at Moorpark College. She takes the time to explain EVERYTHING in class and gives Study Guides before each test. She does not try to surprise anyone with quizes or questions at random. Everything is very strait forward. Work hard and she will work with you. Her mannerism is very pleasant as well.
I take back what i said b4 about "take Her!!" her tests are freaking long average 5 page per test but it is somewhat straightforward. So lots of studying needed.
Very down to earth, good sense of humor and really knows what she's teaching. Also has a lot of time to help you out if you need it. Don't miss class and do all your work and you should be fine.
She teaches the class like you already know and understand chemistry. We had one quiz a week worth 20 points, the tests are super long and all hand written. The lab sucked she made you fix everything and didnt really help if you had a problem. I was frustrated and left confused.
Good teacher. She does expect everything to be perfect on labs, or you have to do it over. Tests are long. Hard class, but if you do your work and study, you will be fine. I've gotten an A in every class I have taken, and I only got a B in this class.
Excellent professor. Very laid back and easy going, and you can actually undstand what her, will answer ALL your questions and will help u out in any way.
Condescending and Vague. Forgets she is teaching INTRO Chemistry, Tests are 6 pages each and all hand written. Labs have to be perfect or you wont get any points, Lectures make no sense and if you ask for help during office hours, you will leave just as confused. I left this class crying at least once a week and I had a tutor! Take BERG or EVANS!!!
very good.
She knows her chemistry but is not a good lecturer. Just read the book thoroughly. She is kind of friendly but for the most part is condescending. And she is definately not helpful during lab. If you see her during office hours, wear a face mask because she spits like a machine gun when she talks!!
very pleasant, down to earth and fun chemistry teacher. Just ask and she will help. Tests are thorough, but not unfair. It is a 6 unit class, so the difficulty is expected. However, following her study guide is the road success.
Always willing to help.
I enjoyed the class. Tests and grading are fair and accurate. She allows extra time if needed. Understandable lectures.
She knows the materials she is teaching, but very arrogant. If she makes a mistake, it's not her fault, it's <insert random excuse>'s fault. Not an easy class. Her exams are very detailed and thorough; average length is about 7 pages all filled up. She also offers little extra credit (6 points in a near 1k points class). Study hard :).
I like this teacher, but I wouldn't recommend her if you can't learn things quickly. Often lectures on a hard concept (that a lot of students didn't comprehend) and then would have a quiz and an exam within days. Hard to ask her questions.
I thought she was a very good teacher. She did teach at a quick pace but she was there to help. I was very impressed by how much she helped people during her office hours. She really wants you to learn. Class is not an easy A however.
Based on the comments here, you'll either like her or not. For me, she was very unmotivating. I ended up taking another professor who had more motivation and interest in the subject and the students and was way more helpful. And the teacher I took wasn't easier--It's still a hard subject.
HARD teacher. Study in her class before even coming to the lecture otherwise you'll have no idea what she is talking about. Lectures moves fast, so be ready. Lab is very frustrating and long because she's picky about your answers. The online homework can work you for hours. However, class is great for careful students that pays extra attention.
Moorpark should test these teachers before they are hired for a personality. I seriously hated her, and she wasn't afraid to show she felt the same. Mastering Chem is ridiculous. Tests are hard as hell because she is tricky, and shes so particular about her labs. Had a B the whole semester and then the last week had a 79 and she gave me a C.
Hard subject, but ok teacher. Way easier tests than Prof. torres. dont take him!does not grade on a curve.got a B even though I was a point away from an A, 89%.
Hard teacher and you must commit to studying...but this class isn't hard to pass if you study..a lot!Online homework was a straight up joke and i did not learn one thing from it.I used moorparks tutors before every test and that helped out a lot cuz most of the time she did not make any sense. Her tests are tricky but i heard torres is more tricky!
SHE WAS MY LAB PROFESSOR AND COMPLETELY HELPED TO GIVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO THE LAB QUESTIONS. SHE CARES IF YOU SEEM INTERESTED IN THE LAB CLASS. YOU CAN PULL OFF GETTING 100% ON YOUR LAB EXCERCISES, WHICH WILL HELP YOUR LEC GRADE.OVERALL SHE'S A COOL PROFESSOR WITH NO ACCENT!
Very unmotivating teacher. She acted like you were taking up her time in office hours. Quizzes were extremely hard and 20% of your grade. The class got much much easier a the the last quarter...if you can manage that long.
I really enjoyed her class. i am not the best in chem and ended up with a B. she can sometimes be a little confusing but it you ask her to go over it again, she will gladly. You can tell she gets annoyed when you talk while she is lecturing, but come on have a little respect for your prof. she was extreemly helpful in lab and did her best to help.
I thought Professor Franke was a good teacher. Chemistry can be hard for some people. This class is definitely not an easy A. But if you study and work hard most people will do well. She was willing to help during lab and office hours when asked. Her lectures were easy to understand if you were studying and keeping up with the class.
She is a great teacher if you aren't lazy. If you read the book before she lectures then her lectures are very clear. Chemistry is not easy and she tries to prepare you for future chem classes which I like. She answers questions and does her job as a professor. This is COLLEGE people don't expect her to coddle you.
HARD CLASS but every chem class is that way! GREAT TEACHER! Gives the option of extra credit 3 times and allows for one full page cheat seet on the final. Stay up-to-date with all the work, attend class, and read the book. She is patient and easy to talk to.
Horrible prof. Does not care about the students, seems very impatient most of the time, always tricked us on the tests, I know one student who was only 10 points from getting a C in her class and she gave him a D. Do not take this prof unless you want to ruin your gpa
She is a good teacher. If you read the book before lectures it helps alot. She is very leniant with labs. If you arent lookin for an easy A then you'll do fine. I enjoyed the class and the first part of Bio2A was easy cuz she prepares you for advanced chem. Do well in her class n it will help alot for future classes
She's not easy. You can tell she likes the subject but isn't interesting. However classtime does go by pretty fast. Quizzes every week. Talks down to her students. Kind of unclear about assignments.
I'm sure she knows her chemistry, but she doesn't explain things too well. If you get stuck and ask a question, she sometimes responds with a vague, unhelpful question. Exams are 20% MC and 80% written. Final is 100% MC. Labs are mandatory and she doesn't give credit until all of your answers are correct. Weekly quizzes.
She is pretty nice and has a quirky humor. She gives online homework that is sometimes frustrating and confusing, but even if you get an answer wrong twice you could get full credit by not opening the hints. She goes over the quizzes before she hands them out and there is one almost once a week. Lecture notes handed out with fill-ins.
Know her notes. If you can do the problems in the notes, you can do the test no problem.
She is pretty easy however she does assign a lot of work on top of a lot of work. Her tests are pretty fair, as well as quizzes. She does accept late work, sometimes for partial credit. There was a quiz once a week
Take her if you don't have to do anything else but chemistry. Her assignments are not hard but very time consuming. I felt like I have wasted a lot of time on repeating simple concept over and over.
she is very hard to understand because she speaks too softly constantly and when you can actually understand what she is saying you will be so bored out of your mind that you will not want to listen any more. She grades the lab reports very harshly and if you dont come out with the correct result you must redo it.... even if it took an hour
Dr. Franky is hard she will put things on a test that she has not yet gone over in class. I would not recommend taking this Prof.
must study and keep up with your note. definitely not an easy A...you will need to study!!!easy lab point that help boost up your grade and quizs are ok if you study she has study giudes with answerers online. but isn't good at explaining i taught myself allows unto 34pts EC who will have online hw thats 10%
Honestly, the class is so straight forward its pretty easy. Just study a little bit and a B is easy, study more and a A is mediumly easy. Labs are above average interest wise and quizes are simple. Its those tests you gotta look out for.
Very unclear teacher and speak very slow. Her quizzes and confusing.Dont take her if you want to pass this class.
You get a full page of notes on the final and usually lab doesn't take all three hours. A few E.C. opportunities. Just print her online notes and follow along in class and you will definitely pass. 6 quizzes, three tests, and a final. Overall, she's really good.
I didn't think the class was too bad, but it was a bit difficult. Dr. Franke does offer extra credit to bring up your grade. shes actually really helpful if he sees you pay attention in class and have an interest for the subject.only the final was multiple choice, everything else was short answer. I would definitely take another of her classes.
All her notes are online and are printable for your convenience. She teaches at a fast pace so going to class is necessary to keep up with the info. She gives quizes (drops lowest one). Extra credit is available and she's pretty generous in Lab too. Online HW is time consuming but a good grade booster. Tests are fair. Final is Multiple chioce.
Had to retake this course because I did not pass with Crisostimo. She is a really good teacher and cares about her students. Her online notes are EXTREMELY helpful. Always answers emails and questions. Did not use my book once this semester and passed with a high B.
Prof Franke is super nice and always very helpful. In lab, she gives you immediate feedback on problems, so there's almost no way not to get 100% on every lab. Her tests were fair, but not all multiple choice so be ready to write. She's really nice and really helpful, but she moves very slowly through material. She has notes and study guides online
It wasn't a particularly hard class but it wasn't easy either. The tests and quizzes weren't so bad if you just looked over the notes, and go through her practice tests. She has notes online that you print out and take to class, and she goes over it with you. Overall a good class and a good professor.
Honestly the worst chemistry teacher I have ever had. She skips around topics during lecture, making it impossible to follow, and makes quizzes and tests that are significantly harder than any other chem teachers. Avoid at all costs. Cost me a semmester in college.
She is the absolute worst teacher I have ever taken at Moorpark College. I loved chemistry before I took her class. Her tests are super hard and NOTHING like the notes, and she never explains anything just reads off the notes. If you want to pass you have to read the book before and after lectures and maybe a 3rd time. Wish i could giver her a 0.
Ugh : Avoid! Sweet lady but so so BORING. I tried so hard to concentrate during lectures but found myself on my phone from boredom. Print out notes, does few examples but moves them before you can complete writing them down. If you're a science major who wants to be stimulated, take another teacher. Passed with a B; I always joke "B" for Boredom..
Dr. Franke is a such a nice person. She's really approachable and willing to go over questions during lab. Her tests are pretty clear cut, the only time I got a bad grade was when I didn't study enough. As long as you print out her notes, study them, and read the chapters you'll do fine. She also offers extra credit for doing the end of chapter HW.
she can be rude to you if she wants.. she will be very mean and will try to put you down.. don't take her
SAVE YOUR MONEY. Makes everything more difficult than it actually is, tests are nothing like her review questions, and she lectures as if she's trying to teach herself the material. Her "extra credit" is worth 3-5 points. Save yourself the stress and choose someone else. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Professor Franke is good at best. I'll start with the good.... Her grading is very generous, for example she gives you a week to do lab homework and if you get anything wrong she gives you another week to correct it. The bad.... Her lectures are very boring and she tells what happens, but doesn't really explain why it happens
Franke was a great teacher. She provides you with all of the notes for the class so you can print them out and follow along, which is highly recommended so you can follow her practice problems. She explains things well and her test and quizzes are exactly like her example problems. Mastering Chemistry is annoying but you can get a few extra points
She's super boring. If you simply do the work you'll pass with a C. Don't bother studying anything but her notes to do well on the quizzes/exams. She can be kind of rude in a really nice way. My advice, don't take her unless you don't have another option. She's soooo boring.
Overall 3 exams and an ACS final. She's really boring and not very clear in her lectures, but as longneck as you go to her office hours and do the same exact problems in the lecture packets you can easily Ace the exams. The ACS final is much easier than her exams, at least in my opinion.
The worst professor ever. I do not understand how she is the 2nd best. She is extremely rude and inconsiderate of student feelings. Her sassy comments should not be aloud in any school environment. Lectures are a waster of time, she just reads from her dry notes. The only thing useful are her practice problems on the notes. Her class is Bull.
She's a cool person but she makes the entire class period so boring. Her notes will have one example from each new subject which sometimes doesn't even help because on the test it's 100 times harder than the question in the notes. In my class there were about 3/4 of the class still finishing their tests after class was over each time. Find better
First off, I think people need to realize that she only has one semester to teach the class 12 chapters of material! That's a lot of chapters!!! And honestly,if you aren't ready for a fast-paced, not-going-to-hold-your-hand chemistry class, please take intro chem first. I think she did fine for the amount of time she had to teach all the material
To be honest I really liked Professor Frankie. When grading tests or quizzes, she gives you the benefit of the doubt and sees where you messed up in your calculations. She gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit. If you are ever confused about a topic she is always willing to help. STUDY THE NOTES! She tests what are on the notes (online
Really enjoyed her class! Her lectures were so good, I never needed the textbook. Gives a few options for extra credit. I was literally half a point away from an A at the end of the semester so I talked to her and she gave me the A. She tries to be funny, sometimes it works out. She's super nice even though during labs she may seem condescending.
Dr. Franke is a great teacher. Her lectures are clear, but they go fast so pay attention. Her tests are moderately tough (except test 4, its painful), and she gives a bunch of (pretty) easy quizzes. Mastering Chem and labs give a ton of credit to get an A. Overall you're gonna have to work for the grade a bit but an A is definitely not far fetched.
Professor Franke is a good person overall I just didn't really agree with her teaching style. She's extremely organized which is nice but I struggled in this class. The biggest problem I had was that she doesn't do enough examples in the notes. She's funny and approachable even though she may seem like she's not in lab. She wants you to succeed.
Overall, this class went well. Franke has her moments of being extremely condescending but I believe she wants everyone to succeed. You will definitely have to work for your grade, but points are available to allow you to succeed. There is extra credit available and the lab points are weighed.
A very good professor. She will help when you ask questions. Her notes are organized and her examples are helpful. But studying and practicing more than the usual is important if you want a very good grade in the class because her quizzes and tests are challenging.
Very passive aggressive teaching style. Very anti-social type personality and has horrible writing which is illegible. If you take this class, prepare to be confused nearly the whole semester. Terrible experience.
The class was pretty straightforward. The homework is graded in front of you and youre able to do corrections for extra points. She also gives you around 20 points of extra credit thats also helpful.
She was a great professor. She taught the subject well and provides a lot of opportunities to bump your grade with homework, lab, and extra credit. I would take her again if I could. It's definitely a doable A if you put in a standard amount of time. She can be a little cold at times but overall is a very sweet lady.
Nice teacher and person. Does examples from notes in lecture. Discusses applications of the material. Supports class participation. Graded on HW, tests, quizzes. About 20 extra credit pts available. resources are provided online. HW was online. Amount of HW could get steep at times but straight forward.
Professor Franke is very knowledgeable on the subject, but I struggled a lot just to pay attention during lectures. She is super particular with labs and grading, and does not do the best job at explaining concepts. Whenever I asked her a question, she would be condescending and expected me to already know it. She's also super dry and cold at times
Professor Franke was very knowledgable in the subject, but her teaching techniques need massive work. All she does is read from her slides, making going to class basically worthless. She also showed a lack of compassion and consideration for students. Graded our paper ridiculously hard. She also does not drop or replace a test score with the final.
Dr. Franke's class was something else. Her lecture really is just her reading off her own notes but she does go through every single practice problem with the class, which makes going to lecture worth it. Labs were pretty straight forward and she gives you 2 weeks to finish one lab, which is pretty great. Overall, she was a good professor!
Knowledgeable in the subject, but terrible at explaining the concepts. I only learned from watching YouTube videos. Her work is really extensive and can make you feel stupid when you're confused. She has office hours at least.
Dr. Franke is well-educated and has a clear and easy lesson/grading plan. There is a lot of room to earn points (passing is easy) but you need to work a bit for an A. Do the online 20 points EC, it will help a lot. Homework is often irrelevant to lectures, focus on notes and examples for tests/quizzes. She is hard to approach, but wants the best.
Doing well in her class is what you make of it, to be honest (like most classes but especially hers). If you're willing to put in the time (preview lectures, review lectures, study, do the online hw on time, complete labs) you'll get an A. You'll find that her questions on quizzes and tests are similiar versions of examples in lectures.
She is an absolutely horrible professor! DO NOT TAKE HER. I'm surprised she hasn't been fired yet. When you ask questions or make a small mistake she makes you feel horrible about it and discourages you to continue. I wanted to drop her class and spend an extra semester just to avoid her. Please do yourself and your GPA a favor and don't take her!
She is a good professor and wants students to succeed. She gives you chances to re-do labs for a higher grade and will give you partial credit on test questions if you ask. No study guides, but the homework questions are always very similar to the tests. Chemistry is a tough subject as long as you put in the effort you can get an A in this class!
Do not take this course unless you are SOLID in college algebra. She lectures extremely fast and crams in a lot of material. She will assume you know what you are doing and have read the chapters prior to lecture so come prepared. Her pace was too fast for me. Otherwise, she is very responsive and gives extra credit. Equivalent work to 2 classes.
She doesn't care about the students and treats them horrible. Franke should lighten up and remember the days she was in college. Every college student has problems of their own. She just makes you feel depressed and anxious. Whoever said chemistry was fun lied. If you struggle with depression taking a class with her makes it worse. Stay away.
This professor is absolutely horrible. Do yourself a favor and don't take her. Your GPA will suffer. Not to mention that she is really rude to the students. If you need hep she isn't willing to help you at all, you better know someone that is good at chemistry so you can be properly taught. If you take her, work hard but don't expect a good grade.
Prof Franke is sweet and approachable. Chem M01A isn't too hard on its own. There were 3 in-person labs that were easy. The weekly tests perfectly represented the homework which was a huge help. However, her lectures were bland so I didn't pay much attention. Learn from the homework program and youtube- you'll pass. She's definitely a safe choice.
General Chem II is not an easy course by any means but Dr. Franke gives you chances to succeed. Homework is worth a big chunk (20%) of your grade so it's cushioned for the difficult exams. Exams are frequent so you get multiple chances to up your average and labs are a breeze with chances to resubmit for credit if marks are made. She's great!!
Get ready to learn chem by yourself because she does not slow down or care to teach anyone except the kids who are naturally good at chem. Take anyone else but her. Save your GPA and nerves.
Franke is so terrible she needs to be fired. She is absolutely NOT approachable. You will learn barely enough to get by in her class. She can't teach and I'm honestly surprised that she has a job. Her instructions and feed back are unclear and you will have a hard time in this class. DO NOT TAKE HER. Save your GPA. Learn from others comments.
Disclaimer: Class was taken during the COVID Pandemic. Pros: Easy homework makes up 20% of the grade. Labs are plentiful but are straight forward and you are given the ability to fix errors for credit. She is very helpful if you ask why something was graded. cons: tests are hard, frequent, and will usually only spend a day or two in class before.
Worst decision ever. Rude and unhelpful. You will need to teach yourself Chem whilst also going to mandatory lectures and in-person labs that are just confusing. She goes over the time in lecture and still expects you to be on time for lab, not accounting for travel. Doesn't really answer questions, just sort of repeats them back. Do NOT take.
wonderful professor, make sure to watch the required recorded lectures before class then youll be prepared for the live lectures. Her notes are neat and easy to understand, labs are straightforward and she helps. You can resubmit work for full credit. wish I had her for all of my science classes. ask questions when needed she is nicer than most think
Very caring for all students and cares about wanting everyone to do well. She gives a lot of opportunities to get your credit back on labs and tests. I had online lectures and in person labs which is a shame because those few hours on campus professor was very sweet and tried getting to know us besides being her students. Absolutely would reccomend
Great professor, watch all pre-recorded lectures and show up to class and labs on time and you will pass. Make sure to study the hw and in-class assignments bc the quizzes are similar in content and difficulty. Her lectures and notes are great, and is overall a wonderful prof. Can't afford to be lazy tho, overall doable to pass with an A or B.
She is extremely approachable and wants all her students to succeed. She is friendly, kind and very helpful. She is super knowledgeable about chemistry and lectures from her notes. Go to her office hours if you need extra help. Chem II is just hard so you will have to put in a ton of work. But she is there to help you every step of the way!
Has many tests that are worth less than normal so every third lecture was a test. Gives extra credit over the course of the semester that can give you a couple percents. Personally I wouldn't take again as she does examples very fast rather than focusing on understanding but definitely you can pass the class by going over online HW before exams.
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH CHEMISTRY. SHE ASSUMES ALL HER STUDENTS ALREADY KNOW EVERYTHING. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ANYTHING
Had a lot of information on the lecture notes to remember, which at times could be overwhelming, but in the end, I liked it because I could take more detailed notes which made the tests easier. Do the homework and try your best to take in as much information from the lectures as possible and you'll be fine on the tests.
lil sassy & rude w/ how she replies to student smt. her lectures are meh, gives pdfs, doing the HW (she gives a lot, ~5hrs/wk) will basically teach u stuff u need. tests are every 3-4 lectures, overwhelming but its better than j 2 big exams. final is the acs exam, tough & i failed it but doing labs, hw, & tests i ended with a high B w/ extra credit
She does tests every other week and gives lots of homework, but the constant testing left my grade higher than it would've been with 3 big exams. Lectures aren't great but they're necessary. Gives extra credit and actually tries to make sure everyone does well. Harsh, but encouraging, and she does cold-call which is scary but effective. Great prof!
so much homework that its hard to keep up with if you're taking other stem courses. tests are very frequent, about 8 each semester. the textbook she uses is cheap which is nice and she does accept late work. if you don't understand even a little bit of chem i recommend taking intro before her class.
Prepare to spend ~20 hrs to this class. She's nice & a tough grader but gives good feedback and lets you resubmit. Final test wasn't tough and graded on a huge curve (overall grade went up). She expects a lot, but it's manageable. I don't have a chemistry background which made it way more difficult. Lots of college algebra.
Lectures can be fast-paced, but professor Franke genuinely wants students to succeed. Constant testing and homework can be challenging, but the extra credit opportunities help balance it out. Unstuck study and going to office hours are great study aids.
Do not take this professor if you want any sort of compassion or kindness. If you get lost you will stay there because asking questions is a burden and she makes you feel unintelligent when you ask any questions or are confused. Her feedback on labs is extremely passive aggressive and her exams are HARD!! Save your sanity and take anyone but her.
Worst teach of all time. does not teach and tells you to just read textbook. the lectures she does provide makes absolutely no sense and uses terminology we have not learned yet. Also gives out busy work if labs are finished early. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
