Wonderful Professor! Very enthusiastic!

Sister Hovey is a great teacher. I love her enthusiasm for art! It made me want to learn more. I also love her enthusiasm for Lit 3. You can tell that she truly enjoys her job. And I love her personality...it is so not boring and it keeps things interesting!

Sister Hovey is an awesome teacher. Some say she was confusing, but if you were willing to ask for clarification then she would quickly help you understand. Assignments were easy, fun, and educational. I often recommend that people take her class and I know that those who do the few things she requires will enjoy their experience. Great teacher!

Her instructions are clear if you listen in class, and she is more than happy to help give more clarification if you go to her office. She is the nicest lady and I highly recommend her!

This class was so fun. If you want to be a teacher this is the first practice class you are required to take. There are so many assignments for this class but they are all essential to your learning-I didn't think any of it felt like busy work. Just keep on top of your assignments and readings. I didn't get an A because of absences.

Sister Hovey is a great teacher! At first I was a little confused by when assignments are due it seemed she was a little scatter brained. However, by the 3rd week I had it all figured out. As long as you do the assignments (there are many) you will get good grades on them. I learn a lot. She is always available to help and answer questions.

She will give many assignments that help you have hands on or critical thinking on how to teach kids. Loved that this class has you in a classroom with a mentor teacher, observing & teaching . It is not an easy class but worth it.

The class overall is very helpful, and gives you great experience working in the classroom. Sister Hovey is the sweetest person alive, and if you get over the fact that she talks to you like YOU'RE in 5th grade, then you should be fine. There is a lot of busy-work in the class and it can be overwhelming and confusing. Be sure to ask questions.

She is very kind and knowledgeable. She does her best to set you up to succeed. There are many assignments and papers. The two tests are tough! Make sure to study. I definitely had to work for this class. But that was ok with me. I learned a lot from this class that will help me be a good teacher.

Mrs. Hovey is by far, the best teacher I have had in a while. She really cares about her students and takes the time to talk to them if she notices that there is something going on. I would recommend anyone to take a class with her, it would be to your advantage. I learned a lot from her and she is also an amazing teacher.

This is my second class taking it with this teacher. She's been very helpful not just for the class but even outside issues she's open to and I love that! I feel comfortable running to her for anything. I am grateful I took her this semester.

This teacher made it fun, effective, and easy to get along with! She was there when I needed help and when problems came up. I would take her again, but make sure you're up for hard work through the semester.

The seminar class seemed really long. It was a great class just a lot of reading and stuff to do for the class. Overall was a great class.

Sis. Hovey is a really nice teacher. Its a tough course but I enjoyed it. I didn't like how much they try to cram into it. I felt like you only spent 5 minutes on a concept and then moved on. So there were times I didn't really feel like I got to understand the concepts in class. But she was a really good professor.

Sometimes you make feel like you flew back to elementary school with the projects and teaching style, but it gives you some good ideas on how to run your future classroom.

Overall, this professor is great! She requires attendance (you can only miss once, then any more absences result in your grade being deducted 5% each time). She is an easy grader, but isn't always clear on her expectations. This class, and professor, and worth taking. If you come to class and complete the assignments, you'll most likely get an A.

She is super passionate about what she does. She LOVES us, and was born to teach little kids. The class was 4 credits, so it took a lot of effort, but all in all I learned a ton! She's easily the best option of teacher to take 243 from. All the other ones I couldn't stand, no offense.

for Music Methods, Sister Hovey is so much fun!!! she is so positive and energetic, and relates EVERYTHING to how you can teach your "kiddos"! she is super helpful and gives you all the time you need to practice your recorder and pass off those songs!

Sister Hovey is a great person to get to know. I loved her energy and perspective for teaching. She is there to work with you. Her weakness is ilearn. There was a bit of confusion to what we should have accomplished for homework because the schedule online didn't match the hard copy of the syllabus. She just needs someone to help with ilearn.

She says the funniest things, but cares about each of her students, she gives second chances and doesn't have too hard of tests. However, she can be a little scattered, but most of the time that's because something had to change in the program and had to make adjustments that she mixes up with the original. Wonderful teacher! The course is hard, but its a 4 credit class so your definitely doing the work you paid for. She is there for you if you need her but I was in the Pilot Program which was in Idaho Falls. Hour round trip of driving and wasn't able to observe a teacher. If you can get into the normal 243 class do it, and take it from this teacher!

Deanna Hovey is so sweet; she geniunely cares about you as a student and person. I feel very prepared to go forward in the education program at BYU-Idaho because of how well Sister Hovey teaches us. I love Sister Hovey! I had her first for Elementary Art Methods and loved the class! She is a lot more strict in Early Practicum. She is very enthusiastic about education and makes an excellent elementary ed professor. She is understanding, but you better get those assignments in time! She is a great teacher! I have really learned a lot from her. She knows the material and how to teach it. But this class is extremely hard. I did an average of 14 hours of homework a week. There is a ton of reading and projects. Also, attendance is very strict, but that is for all the sections for this class.

This is an hard class. I was doing about 18-20 hrs of hw a wk. However, Sister Hovey really cares for her students and her profession. Knowledgeable in profession and is very approachable. Feedback is great, writes everything down. Must look over anything she gives you if you want to know what's going on. Don't trust iLearn. Highly recommend.

I also took her for ED345, and in both classes I got the impression she is a bit unorganized but I think that is only because she has so much on her plate, as she is part of the department head. She will always give you the benefit of the doubt and doesn't ask for anything unreasonable.
