Professor is a nice lady but very confusing. Her spelling is not so great. A class with her is just to learn limit grammar. Write on your own for grades, do not expect her to sit down with you and go over any essays you need help with. She would not do it for me or any of us in our class. When she teaches, nothing make sense. It is useless.

This teacher is honestly a insult to the college, she will not help any students even if you ask multiple times. Her lectures are nonsensical rambling that has no clear point or purpose. Constantly criticizing students saying they wont pass, none the less she will not do anything to change that.

She is easily one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is very confusing and treats my class as if we were freshmen in high school. She answers emails days later and provides very little help when asked questions.

Austin community college, needs to do something about this. It is nearly impossible to pass her class 1. Because she contastly tells us you wont pass this class and 2. Because she does not give you back your papers untill it is too late. I would NEVER take her again and would like acc to do something about it.

She is an extremely tough grader. I went to her office hours on numerous occasions, yet me and a large majority of my other classmates were very confused in the class. She takes a long time to grade papers, is late half of the time, and always talks about how she won't hesitate to withdraw or fail students.

Didn't recieve my first grade until a week before the departmental exam. Claimed she was too busy to grade or answer emails. Her office hours were packed with students confused over her paper guidelines so get there early if you want to pass. Dropped a lot of students based off of grades we hadn't even recieved officially. Take someone else.

Worst decision I've made in my 22 years of life. On the third day of class, she had an episode where she went on a rant for almost the whole class, i was late to my following class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you want a high gpa. Only one person in my class of 20 passed. Every day she tells you how every single person in the class is going to fail, never answers emails did not put grades in until the week after the semester was done, and she grades extremely brutally. Take the peoples advice on here do not take her class.

Very confusing, gives homework out via blackboard at the last minute, don't bother asking for help, don't bother asking questions either if you don't like getting interrupted mid sentence.

Very tough grader with little to no feedback on turned in assignments. She is not responsive to emails and does not follow through with updating blackboard even though she said she would. Quizzes and papers back to back but will often be changed as she is unorganized in her planning. Save yourself the headache and find another professor.

If you want a huge drop in your GPA, take Professor Johnson's class! I believe most bad reviews are usually students blaming professors for their own failures, but this is not the case with Professor Johnson. worst professor I have taken so far. Completely unorganized, her words differ from her actions, extremely condescending. It seems like she enjoys when her students struggle? Miss one day? congrats you just got multiple zeros without the chance to make up. Do not take if you care about your gpa.

Summer online class so no need textbook. Could spend 30 mins or so for nothing in a 2-hour collaborate. 10 weeks sessions, require 4 papers. Ok... Now it's the 8th week, haven't received any feedback of paper 1, 2, 3, and now have to work on paper 4! Everything is delaying, quiz, assignments, homework. If you want a stressful course,this is it.

Don't take this class. Seriously. Just don't. If you can avoid it, take it from someone else, or even transfer to another school DO IT. She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She doesn't answer questions coherently, she is difficult to reach, and her lectures are a rambling waste of time that will leave you confused and frustrated.

gonna have to agree with every bad review posted on here. for real she probably wrote the good ones because legit everyone I know who has taken a class from her hated it and had the worst time. she rambles and is confusing and doesn't answer questions. always grades papers late. it's the last day of the semester and she still hasn't graded paper 1

I'm like sad that others have had a bad time with her but kinda glad because I thought it was just me! Reading these reviews was almost therapeutic! She is the worst teacher and makes students doubt their abilities when really it's her that is the problem! Don't take this class!

A classmate told me about this site and I am so glad! Students need to be warned about this teacher! If you have to take a class from her go into it knowing 1. her lectures will confuse you 2. she won't answer questions 3. you're probably going to fail 4. there's nothing you can do about it. Summer online class so no textbook? Um ok. Disorganized 2 hour mandatory zoom lectures where she babbled and confused everyone? Cool. 10 weeks, 4 papers, a bunch of dumb homework and even dumber quizes. Fun! Class ended a couple days ago, finally just found out what I got ON MY FIRST PAPER. Other grades still missing too. She called for no class 2 days the last week and then scheduled extra classes outside of designated class time to discuss your grade. Awful.

I cannot believe I paid for this class. You don't learn a thing. Ms. Johnson is honestly the most disorganized teacher I have ever had. My class was not given our MAJOR PAPER grades until after the deadline to drop the class was up. I will be emailing the English Department because oh my gosh this class was a headache. She is very very disorganized. I thankfully dropped her class in time. There was 1 paper and a bunch of hard quizzes in 3 quizzes and mind you this was a 5 week course. She would not show up for class and be late to email if you had a question. She just babbles on in mandatory 2 hour lectures where she just review given PowerPoints

Professor Johnson is the most disorganized, confused professor I have ever met. She doesn't even know the due dates of her own assignments!!! Anyways, if you wanna hear her take back everything she says, take this class!!!

I have never experienced anything like it in my 20-year academic career. No need to repeat all of what has been said in the other comments, I can just say that I agree. If you have time, do yourself the favor and get reassigned to another class. It is really a shame.

I have sent over 5 emails since August (it is now November) and have not received a single email back. We did our first paper in early September and we just now got our grade back (again it is now November lol). This class is a joke and there's no way I will pass the Department exam or the class at this point. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

Unfortunately Professor Johnson is extremely unorganized. Our first real assignment had no information about it uploaded until 24 hours before its due date. The only time I heard from her was after I told her I dropped & would be leaving her a review on here. She told me to go ahead if I had something nice to say. Worse professor Ive had so far.

DON'T TAKE. Hopelessly disorganized; changes paper topic days before the deadline; posts info for a paper AFTER the deadline; deducts 25% for not following instructions (you did); nonsensical tests; an assignment can be posted in the evening with a deadline at noon the next day (good luck). Kiss your GPA goodbye.

Unfortunately shes very unorganized and her lectures are all over the place. None of her assignment instructions make sense and the way she goes over them doesnt help you understand it any better. Normally I love writing but her class has me dreading any writing assignment.

Awful professor. You wont receive grades on any of your papers until the end of the semester. She changes dates of assignments after it was already past due. Very unorganized and all over the place. She just throws in grades instead of evaluating. Shes just giving people 75s just to put it in. Ridiculous!!

From the beginning of the semester, incredibly disorganized in every aspect - from grading, to assignment descriptions, everything... Took several MONTHS to get some assignments in the grade book. Many of the essays had weird rubrics and asked for completely unusual things. Her lectures were her reading off of PowerPoint. DO. NOT. TAKE.

The Blackboard for the course was crazy. There were images with text in weird fonts plastered everywhere, and in a lot of different bright colors. It's not a good online class if you can't see very well. The professor did not have a scheduled syllabus available the first day of class, but stressed the importance of punctuality? Instantly withdrew.

This class was a huge waste of time, you will not learn anything. The instructions are very ambiguous and rarely does she follow the course schedule. Johnson will not take the time to grade you properly! I felt I had to watch my back in this class and at the end of the semester she is scrambling. Definitely not worth the cost. She has excuses.

If she was my only online teacher I would say it was a hard class because it was online BUT I have 2 other teachers that are amazing and super organized. To start off she was gone for 2 weeks due to personal matter. No help and she has lots of color and pictures in the folders and nothing in one place so you constantly on a scavenger hunt.

Save your money! No help, and this class is set up for failure. I emailed her and still pending a response from last month but yet she gave me a 0 though she attached the wrong hw file. no late assignments but yet she never makes an announcements like other teachers to remind you what is due or what is covered that week. Honestly, the reviews are very accurate. This professor doesnt answer any emails, talks complete nonsense during class, grades holistically, and is about as qualified as a kindergartner. She was monitored this semester due to me and many other classmates complaining about her. Nothing changed. She sets her students up for failure. Avoid her!!!!!

The reviews are definitely accurate. I had to drop her class because she WOULD NOT answer or respond to any emails. What's worse is that I have an IEP and she refused to communicate with my learning specialist. Just wanna warn anyone planning to select her section, which by the way is full of seats. I found that Deanna Johnson was very unorganized. Before the second week of class she started changing deadlines and paper expectation the day before they were due. Her lectures were hard to follow and quite monotone. Though I passed the class it was very stressful with no structure. She also came in very sick multiple times.

This professor is one of the most unorganized and clueless people I have met. She spends half the class explaining the same topic in different ways and then throws you into your assignments after having taught you nothing. Do not take her class.

Wasn't given a choice with this professor. She took over 3 days before the semester started. She was COMPLETELY unprepared for this class that no one chose her for as the professor, to my knowledge. There wasn't a tag option for not grading papers in a timely manner. It's been a disaster on so many levels. Do not recommend this class.

Terrible professor. I've been waiting almost a month for her to grade my FIRST paper. She takes forever to grade any of the work & replies super late to emails. She was just not good at grading any of our assignments in a timely manner. When getting to the end of the semester my class went from 20+ students to 4 because of how horrible she was. She locked a student out for going to the restroom when that was not necessary. We could not arrive more than 3 mins late for that class either.

I took Dr. Johnson's asynchronous online English class, in the fall, and did not get a single grade until November 8th. She gave me several bad grades with no feedback. I was planning on transferring this semester, but because of her laziness, and the complete disregard for the finances and times of her students, she deserves termination.

Worst teacher I've ever had to deal with. Extremely vague instructions and unhelpful when answering questions. You could follow the rubic for an assignment to the key and still end up with 20+ points counted off. She took 30 points off my paper for "incorrect spacing". Horrible.

She delays grading indefinitely, hands out assignments like confetti, but when it comes to feedback, it's a vague "incorrect," leaving us clueless about our performance.Her lazy grading and refusal to read papers is evident.She's full of excuses and dismisses student concerns with a rude attitude.She will find any way to get out of doing her job.

Out of 5 papers, only 1 paper got feedback: a list of shorthand based on a shorthand guide, with some shorthand not appearing in the guide. Grade for one paper came in 4 days before the end of the semester, grade for another came 2 days after the semester ended. No textbook, no lectures. Directions and syllabus were horribly formatted and unclear.

PART TWO She also had the folders labeled VERY similarly to each other for example, if one folder was named "Essay Rubric" she'd create another labeled "Essay Rubric 1 or Essay 1 Rubric" that'd list the SAME requirements and lead you to the same vague instructions. .

PART 3 When listed in BlackBoard the text would be in different sizes and types of fonts per letter or sometimes per word, making it look very inconsistent. Also some pages looked like '06 WordArt. If your selecting classes please wait unless this is your ONLY option, she takes a very long time to respond to emails or never replies at all.

PART ONE She made things VERY unclear as far as what she wanted and what to provide. I asked in real time and received answers that weren't direct and was redirected to what the prompts (that she created) asked for. She did this to others as well and I expressed what made her class difficult was there were many things that were confusing.

PART 4 and FINAL This also applies to grading - She takes a long time to grade. I only knew my grade hours after grades were supposed to be posted, so she took her time with that too. No textbook because, she suggest we purchase a Dictionary ourselves.

Over complicates everything and creates overly strict assignments. First day, she made a point about how everyone in the class has lives outside of class and has stories to tell. I recall her later talking about how we should expect to be losing sleep working on a paper. On top of all that she's just plain bad at teaching and explaining things.

For the many, many instructions she gives you are still left wondering what, exactly, you are supposed to do on any given assignment. She takes months to grade a paper and gives vague reasons for taking off whole letter grades worth of points. She prefers formulaic papers that parrot back to her what she wants to hear. That is if you can guess it.

Her syllabus looks like it was made by somebody who recently discovered that a computer lets you write in more than one size and font. So hard to read. It's not that you won't pass because it's highbrow and she demands high quality work, it's because she's just not a very good teacher and should be doing something else like administration.

Paper 1 I wrote about something personal as instructed & I was told that my climax wasn't acceptable. Paper 2 I was told that the area I selected wasn't a neighborhood even though I live in it. The straw for me was receiving a 0 for being a few hours late to turn in a topic even though NONE of my papers were graded that were submitted MONTHS before

I have sent emails to this professor. Regarding grades! Instructions are ridiculous! professor Johnson was able to grade our work whenever she felt like or whenever she got to it. She never responded to emails in a timely manner. I honestly hope this was her last semester teaching! this by far has been the worse experience ever.

Took points off for not following the correct format, emailed saying I reviewed all guidelines and couldn't find an error, and got a response back that it would be unfair to the class to tell me what I needed to fix, and to try checking the guidelines again. Also went on about how this class is a stepping stone in her career to be a news reporter

The amount of homework & papers don't particularly bother me. However, the information is not well organized & some pieces are missing. Additionally, the assignments are very challenging to comprehend (lots of different highlighted areas). Lastly, guidelines are almost impossible to meet. She has tedious requirements & lack of communication.

I have been in this class for a week and its already awful. To submit one assignment, I have to navigate to 3 different folders for her submission instructions. She asked for a paper with a 400 word count. If you are under that count she won't grade it and for every 10 words you're over, you lose 10 points. No thank you.

I DO NOT recommend taking her class, she waited until the end of the semester to submit grades for papers, even the first. She gives unclear instructions and expects students to read her mind. She demands specific answers and gives no feedback despite emailing her many times. For sure the worst professor I've ever had. Save yourself while you can.

This professor is the absolute worst when it comes to grading assignments. I took her, and she is the absolute worst English professor in all of ACC. She kept on delaying assignments and didn't seem to post them or even submit them. Her class is so confusing and you won't understand what is going on. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

I have about a month left of this class and NONE of my papers have been graded yet. She takes forever to return assignments and DOESN'T EMAIL BACK! I have emailed her multiple times with no response. Takes forever to grade papers. Is very picky with her assignments. NEVER ANSWERS EMAILS. Needed an extension for a circumstance I did not see coming and she never replied. Please avoid this class if you can.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! First, SHE DOES NOT GRADE ON TIME. I have already finished the whole course, and only have one paper out of five graded. There was little to know feedback as her handwriting was unreadable. Because of that, I cannot fix my papers without feedback and I cannot revise them because the class is over. SHE RESPONDS TO NO EMAILS!

She is not good at giving feedback, she hasn't even put in final grades for our paper/essays yet, and waited until the last week to get a few of them graded. She's strongly disorganized; she's unable to fix whatever's going on with Blackboard and continuously has the same technology issues. I would recommend staying away from this professor.

She is nice, but Takes MONTHS to grade any assignments, doesn't respond to emails, is very strict with grading, and gives EXTREMELY specific instructions on all assignments. Easily the worst class I've taken. Lectures are chaotic, expectations constantly shift, and emails don't get answers. Questions are brushed off and students are made to feel incapable. Grading feels random, feedback is useless, and stress is constant. She hasn't graded ANY Major essay. If you value your GPA or mental health, seriously reconsider.
