This class (Coping w/ Life and Death) taught me WAY more than textbooks ever could. It actually taught me about life... Teacher is VERY knowledgable and insightful, as well as thought provoking. I HIGHLY recommend Hum 72 for EVERYONE! And I'd gladly take any course with Mrs. Upchurch. She's fun, funny, and moving.

WOW! Everyone needs to take this class (HUM72). Mrs. Upchurch is so insightful. I never would have thought a class on death could be so interesting. If you need a humanities or just want some fun and very beneficial learning you have to take this class with Deanna Upchurch. She could positivly change the way you may look at your life.

I wish I had met Deanna Upchurch sooner @ BCC; she is by far my favorite teacher and this was my favorite class. She speaks from the heart and experience, something no textbook in the world could teach you. She has taught me so much about myself and life. Thanks for the experience!!

Professor UpChurch is by far my favorite teacher @ Bristol Community College she teachs from the heart and she teaches us past the text book this is a class where u can intake so much information & not forget it & still remember it in 10 20 years by far my best teacher

I had her for soc 11 and child development she is one of the best teachers at bcc take all her classes you won't be disappointed.

I took HUM 72 online over the summer and I loved the class. Deanna is a wonderful professor, always willing to help you out, and responds quickly to any questions. She makes the class interesting and fun. Deanna felt like a fellow classmate, someone who I could relate to. If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend taking Hum 72 with Deanna :)

If you need to take a Life & Death course or if it's an option as an Elective....TAKE IT WITH HER!!!!!!! She is the BEST prof. I have ever had and probably the best I ever will. She is easy and she makes everything fun and interesting. No matter what class she teaches, take it with her. I promise you will not regret it.

Deanna is a fantastic professor! She really wants her students to succeed and is very easy going. This was my favorite class at BCC so far! It was literally life changing. TAKE IT!!

She is an amazing teacher. Coping with Life and Death was a class I enjoyed to attend every week. Even though I would not admit to it by complaining about all the death topics and movies. If you have to take Coping w/ Life and Death put her 1st on your list. Plus she is easy on the eyes! Go with Deanna Upchurch

She was super nice and knows what she's talking about. She teaches more from experience than from textbooks. We spent the entire semester discussing and writing 1 page papers about our own experiences with life and death. HIGHLY recommend this course w/ Mrs Upchurch! She's great!

Her class was easy breezy, but she is awful at giving grades back in a timely manner. Just last week I got my week 5 grades because I told her I needed them ASAP!

Took her online coping with life and death class. Class was an easy A but do not expect to get much from it other than that.Maybe better to take in actual classroom. I agree slow with grading too

Great teacher. This was my first class back to school in 9 years and i was so nervous. She wants what she wants when she wants it but she is fair and laid back if there is a problem all you have to do is ask. Was very clear on assignments and I loved doing everyone of them. TAKE HER CLASS I LOVED IT!!!

Online class, her topics were extremely interesting and I looked forward to what our next assignment was going to be. Didn't require a lot of papers, however did require a post every week and a response to classmates quotes. Emailed her a few times and she got right back to me. I liked her a lot and would def take another class.

Took the on-line course with her. She is awesome. Grades very fair and assignments are what you would expect for an on-line course. If you have the chance then you should take a course with her.

Great teacher! She was fun, and creative! No tests but there was a journal assignment every week so a little bit of writing. Id definitely take another one of her classes though!

Awesome class overall! Professor makes the class interesting. She gives assignments with plenty of time to complete. No reason at all someone should receive anything but an A in this class unless you just don't hand in the assignment!! Would absolutely take another class with Ms. UpChurch!

I've taken two classes with Professor Upchurch. All of her assignments are straight forward and she always tries to relate them to everyday life. If you put in the effort you'll get a good grade. She is helpful if you have questions and is also very understanding of the fact that we all have lives outside of school. I'd take more classes with her!

RECOMMENDED.. easy online class,gives you activities to do which are usually only one to two paragraphs, gives you 4 hours to take final which is true and false and multiple choice questions(you can use your book)Overall best online class I have taken.

Loved her,I thought that she treats you like an adult and you get out of this course what you put in! For those of you that said "easy A" should probably consider putting a bit more time and effort into your studies. This course is an endless supply of knowedge, ecspecially with a Professor such as Professor Upchurch who is so willing to reach out!

At first, this class sounded boring. However, it turned out to be very interesting. I would only consider taking this class if you need extra credits. Very interesting, and awesome professor! Assignments are fair, and everything is organized and on time :)

This Professor is amazing. I enjoyed the class. She makes assignments that are creative and make you think a lot about your own life and others and death. I learned quite a bit in the course. I would definitely recommend this Professor. You won't be sorry.

Loved this professor! Took her online Psych course at BCC and truly enjoyed it. She's an absolute sweetheart. You learn the basics of Psych in an easy format that gets you involved. The reading was easy, not alot and the posting and time frames were more than sufficient. I highly recommend her, you will not be disappointed!

This class has been great so far. Every assignment is reasonable and she gives you plenty of time to do it. Not to mention that each assignment makes you think in a way in which you actually learn something. I've literally cried, laughed, and just felt good after most of the assignments. She seems like such a sweet person also. Take this class!

Professor Upchurch is by far one of my best professors yet. I was a little unsure about an online class because I never took one before but I can tell you that it went better than I expected. Definitely take her if you get the chance you will not be sorry. She is Excellent!

By far Upchurch an awesome professor! She's knowledgeable, nice and easy going. Work is fair and easy. I learned so much during the course and the assignments were fun! I did get teary eyed in some of the assignments. Overall, I highly recommend this class and would take another course with Prof. Upchurch! You won't be dissappointed.

Professor Upchurch is an extremely kind person, and that vibe was received through an online course. Coping with Life and Death was an emotionally intense course but the atmosphere was comforting and everyone was really personable and I think that is because our professor was thoughtful in her online personality.

I LOVE this professor i'd give her a 20 out of 10 that's how awesome she is. She's very understanding and very good grader. She cares more than you understand the content and I think every teacher should take notes from her!

Knowledgable instructor. Gives real life examples in lecture. Wants students to do well. Excellent instruction and fair grading.

Prof. Upchurch is a practical person. She's also funny, sincere and responsive. She wants you to succeed, and doesn't expect grad-level work from undergrads or non-Psych majors. Do a weekly writing assignment, and show up for 50 minutes 2-3 times a semester, and you'll pass this class. If you have to take a Psych course, definitely take this one.

She was motivational and she showed compassion for all her students. This class was a very touchy subject about life and death and she showed respect towards the subject. She has a passion for caring for people, and this has reflected in her class. A few papers through the semester, and short homework assignments. Discussions are a must!

She is a wonderful Professor, she encourages us to think outside of the box, and voice our views on difficult subjects. I cannot wait to take another course with her.

Deanna, was a great teacher to take class with. I would definitely take other classes with her. She knows her material and presents it in a positive, flowing manner. She knows how to get her point across.

I really liked this class. The assignments very interesting and thought provoking. There were a few books she had us read, a couple videos/movies to watch and write about and a final project, but nothing too outrageous. Would gladly take another class with her!

She was awesome. The topic of the class itself was sad, but she brightened it. Be prepared to cry at the movies, but i would def take ANY of her classes again. She is very passionate. I wasn't completely into the Coping with Life and Death topic, but i liked physiology

Shes an excellent teacher I had her for HUM 172 and PSY 101 She is very helpful and caring and if you do all your work you are sure to pass

Good online class. Insightful. Assignments were interesting even though they were on a morbid subject. Gives you options as to assignment topics. Good overall. Put in the effort and you will get an A.

I took Hum-172 - Coping With Life and Death - online with Deanna Upchurch and I really enjoyed this course. She gave one assignment per week for the most part and they were all really straightforward. There were three writing assignments but they weren't very difficult. If you put in the work you will get an A, she grades very fairly. No textbook.

Loved her! She is so helpful and easy. Need an easy A? She's your girl. I learned a lot and didn't feel like I needed to watch my grade constantly. Latex back class and perfec if your taking other classes and work for a living. Take her!

PROFESSOR UP-CHURCH IS PHENOMENAL! The class I took was (e-learning) Coping with Life and Death. Professor Upchurch made it interesting and easy to participate with the assignments given. The assignments were eye opening and made you think. One short book to read and easy assignments due weekly. Easy to keep up just do the work and and you'll get fairly graded !

This teacher is so inspirational. She is very involved, even with this class being hybrid and only meeting twice a semester. Weekly assignments are easy, but be prepared to read! The book is a must, but she doesn't require the newest edition of her chosen book, which saves you some money! If you put in the work, you will learn a lot.

Very easy class. We only had on assignment a week. Anf was to answer a simple prompt in at least one paragraph. Then commite on a classmates answers.

Deanna is the best online professor I've ever had, she has clear deadlines and understands that you have a life. PSY252 had 1 assignment a week, I spent 1 hour a week on the class and got a 100% and learned a lot, I'm trying to take every class she teaches, outstanding prof!!! 10/10

I took this class online. The professor was great! She responds to emails in a timely manner, and answers any questions you have. She does not post grades right away, which is understandable since she has many other students, but she does post them within a few weeks after the assignment was submitted. Submit your work on time, and you'll be fine!

This was the BEST class I took this semester! I loved the Professor and heard lots of great things about her. This class was very manageable on a full-time schedule and the homework assignments were inspirational.

This professor was amazing. I was a little worried because it was my first online class but it could not have been better. there is a lot of writing but mostly opinion based and does not take much time. she really wants you to learn in this class. as long as you do each weekly assignment you will get an A. Highly recommend!!

Phenomenal teacher, wants you to think and learn things, many assignments are opinion/experience based so it is a great way to explore your own mind. May be heavy if taking the coping with life and death class (subject matter heavy, I mean) but she keeps things easy, light, and her weekly assignments are easy but thought provoking.

Great professor! Took an online class with Deanna and she was great. Super clear on what needs to be done and doesn't overload you with work. She gives one easy and short assignment each week and even allows two weeks to complete some assignments. I would definitely take a course from her again! It is an easy A !

I took an online class with this professor, and any time I needed to contact her she would answer back quickly. She may take a few days to grade assignments, but she is not a tough grader by any means. Very kind lady, and the class was very interesting.

This was the second online course I've taken with Deanna (also Coping w Life & Death). We didn't use a textbook in that class but we did in this one although barely. I mean, I think we covered 2 and 1/2 chapters in the whole book. One discussion board post a week. Docks points for lateness. Very nice woman! Takes a while to get grades back.

Professor Upchurch was always available when I had any questions. She has clear grading criteria and as long as you put some effort in and submit work on time you will do fine. Would definitely recommend!!

She's very understanding and is able to open up your eyes to many things with assignments that aren't going to take up your entire day. She allows you more than enough time for projects and shows you how to utilize her class with the real world

Professor Upchurch was great! This class was fully online and the work load was completely doable. Very flexible, if you need extra time to finish assignment just email her and she will approve it. I loved her. Even though it was an online class it was probably the most exciting class ever. I loved the topics we discussed. She made you look at things differently. I would love to take a similar class again. Very interesting. I didn't mind writing papers for the first time because the topics were interesting.

Professor Deanna is amazing, I took her for child development over the summer and it was a hybrid course. We met twice in the semester and everything else was online. You will need the book for your assignments and I suggest getting it prior to the class starting because most of your assignments will be based off the chapters you read.

I took this course in a 2 week advanced winter session and she honestly made it enjoyable. As long as you follow her instructions there is no reason you shouldnt finish with an A. With the online course, its a few papers and 3 weekly discussion posts that are totally do-able! I wish I knew of this professor sooner. TAKE HER CLASSES! Shes great!

Thought a Copong with Life and Death course would be depressing, but that was not the case at all. Assignments were actually fun

I took her online class over the winter time, and I have to say that although there is a lot of papers to write she is great at giving feedback and is clear about the requirements! If you do end up taking her class online just make sure to also input your own personal thoughts into other classmate's work, as participation is required.

Im so glad I took this class. It was the winter session 3 week course, so there was a lot of work to do - mostly essays. Professor Upchurch is organized and grades in a timely manner. She is available through email and quick to respond, even thought she is upfront about her busy schedule. Would definitely take a class with her again! Shes great!

This is my second class with this professor and I think she is awesome! I was iffy about a life and death course, as I thought it would be sad or depressing. On the other hand, it is really fun and her assignments are interesting! Just make sure you participate in discussion boards!!

This is my second class taken with professor upchurch and she is awesome ! Highly reccomend. I took her fully online and as a hybrid and loved both. This class was about coping with life and death and it was actually very interesting. Do the assignments on time and comment on your classmates work and youll do great!

I wasn't sure what to expect taking a course on coping with life and death. I actually enjoyed the assignments are reading my classmates perspectives. I would definitely take a class with Professor Upchurch again!

I really enjoyed Deanna's class on Child Development. She makes it interesting and not boring. She is quick to respond with any questions or concerns. She is one of the best teachers in psychology at BCC; I believe she should be tenured.

Eventhough i had my course online, i take Professor Deana as one of the best lecturers i have ever had. She is very open and always reminding her students she is available for a discussion even after the end of semester/course. I took Hum 174-24W with Professor Deanna who gives everyone room to succeed, while making sure we all work for our grades.

I would recommend this professor time and time again. She is one of the most heartfelt and caring individuals I have ever met. I loved going to class. I left there crying sometimes but in a good way. I learned so much about life and love in this class. It was an honor to meet this professor.

I took her hybrid class and all the assignments were very clear. She is a fair grader and such a sweet individual. As long as you get all your assignments done and try you should have no problem getting a good grade.

For the online course assignments were very clear. If you read the book, study, and do the assignments on time, you will do fine. She responded to emails in a timely fashion and gave feedback on assignments.

One of the best! Weekly assignment with midterm and final online, no pressure in weekly quizzes or anything like that just an assignment, loved her class!

Interesting class without overloading on work. Weekly discussion with a final exam based on the textbook. Great textbook. If you took PSY101 first you will be refreshing on those subjects as well. Conveys the material well. She is very fair.

I took this call over winter break. I was really worried I wouldn't be able to do all the work while working full time, but it was manageable. Deanna was very clear with what the assignments were and that class participation counted. Easy A if you put the work in. I'd take a class with her again if I had the opportunity!

She was amazing! Although we had only 3 weeks to do a full semester worth of work, she was so supportive and was very clear in all of our assignments. I would love to take another course of her's!

It was an accelerated summer course, so the workload was very rigorous. Mrs. Upchurch was very responsive to all my questions in a very timely manner and exceptionally understanding that sometimes life gets in the way and allowed for some leeway on deadlines. Put the effort in and this class is in the pocket. 10/10 would take again.

This class was very straightforward and with clear guidelines. The professor was incredibly understanding and kind. She provided her phone number to reach her anytime. I learned a lot in this class. The assignments were paced very well. Unfortunately, there are no weekends off. I felt very prepared for the midterm and the final.

One of the best Professors I have had for being my first year of college! I can't wait to have her for my Psych child development class although it makes me sad because it won't be in person. She is clear with what she teaches and guides you to understand the lectures to the full extend.

Professor Upchurch's PSY 252 online course was a fantastic learning experience. The course content was easy to follow, and the assignments were fun and engaging, making the learning process enjoyable. I found the course structure to be well-organized, which helped me grasp the concepts effectively. I would take any class she teaches!

Extremely clear expectations in online course. Utilized a free, online textbook. Lots of short answer assignments make up the bulk of the grade, but no quizzes (just a multiple choice final exam). You can learn a lot in this class if you do the reading and work. Available, encouraging, and overall great professor for a fast paced online course.

By far, the best online class I've ever taken. Extremely organized. Free online textbook. Clear cut and interesting assignments. Fair grading. I've recommended this class to all of my friends.

Professor Upchurch's PSY252 class was a great experience. The course was well-organized, with engaging assignments that made learning enjoyable. I found unstuck study and the provided textbook very helpful for studying and preparing for the exams.

Asynchronous 3 week course; it was well run. I would've appreciated more thought provoking/challenging course material. I do not necessarily mean a higher workload, but rather a bigger step up from intro psychology. I suspect that the course could be much improved by covering a smaller amount of material deeper. Really enjoyed discussions

A great professor! This class was interesting and well-organized. Every week, we had to take part in discussion boards by writing our own post and replying to at least one classmate. There was a midterm and a final exam, but they were pretty easy if you kept up with the reading.

There was a discussion weekly, she supplied the materials. The discussions were pretty straightforward; read the text book and then write about it. The midterm was probably the most difficult part of the course, as it asked for 750 words. She's very fair and understanding if you fall behind for any reason.
