Many, many years ago this amazing professor inspired in me a love for math that led me to eventually get a computer science degree. That degree led me to the technical management job that I have and love. I cannot thank her enough.
do you want to waiste 150 dollars to fail and get called stupid. this lady is degrading and mean. Tests are impossible. over 3/4 fail her class the second time around. If you get her good luck.
She is a good teacher who really cares for her students. She kept me motivated to try and do well in her class. She is not hard but not easy. All you have to do is study if you want an A in her class. She is a good teacher and I recommend her.
As long as you do the hw every night and study you will do fine. She is a really good teacher and I have had some really bad ones. If you slack off def do not take her class.

I am very glad that I took statistics with Dr. Voehl! She is very fair and helpful, and you will do fine in class as long as you complete the software modules and keep up with the homework.
To be completely honest, I had absolutely no interest in statistics but it was required. I took it over summer 1 and online to get it over with. She was very helpful and caring. Answered all my questions, even repeatedly helped me with a project that I sent to her at least 4 times. She's a great teacher! I definitely recommend her.
She is a very sweet lady who loves stats. Dont take anyone else but her. She is the best...Just make sure that you do your hw and the online work which sooooo sucks but is very helpful..take her

She is a very good teacher. I took Statistics over summer 1 AND online and I got a B in the course. She is willing to answer your questions as soon as possible and try to help you with the same question as long as it takes to learn the information. I would suggest taking her class. OH, and she's very enthuiastic.

I wish I had never taken her as a teacher. I took this class online and she would take forever to respond questions and when I emailed her near the end of the course she said simply you are in college, well thats great coming from someone who is the most unhelpful and unsympathetic woman ever.
One of the toughest teachers ever. She does not know how to make the subject easy to understand and is unclear with the instructions on assignments. You're pretty much on your own with her. Good luck. Hopefully you'll scrape by with a B but don't be disappointed with a C, at least you passed and got through her class.
Very nice lady, passionate about her job & enjoys it; very unclear & difficult to understand; not the prof. for students w/ trouble in math; does not give step-by-step notes, doesn't label her work on the board, does not give typical notes, expecting you to know the work before you come to class & without prior instruction. Heavy on homework.
TAKE HER TELEVISED COURSE! you use internet software to take quizzes and homeworks as many times as you want! program goes step-by-step and gives examples to homework problems. no need to go to class or buy a book, all pages are on the internet. best math class i have EVER TAKEN!! ever ever ever.
She trys to teach but fails to reach out to those who need step by step notes. she assumes you had the bomb teacher for algebra cause she bypasses the foundation to all calculus problems which is algebra, and just teaches the calc part of the problem therefore you are to lost to follow. heavy on homework. doesn't check it tho:) all over with notes.
Difficult to understand, but gave plenty of extra-credit .
asked her for help and got no response. unable to comprehend the material. lots of homework which is okay but if you don't get it the first time around you're out of luck. wish i'd known about this site prior to taking her. the school office recommended i look here
Voehl is good. The class I took consisted of abstract material, so it was somewhat boring and I skipped a lot of classes to learn it on my own. The class was a little boring but there wasn't much else to do to make the material more interesting. Nevertheless, Voehl is very smart, upbeat and very helpful. An excellent math professor.Highly recommend
She gives tons of extra credit opportunities. You gotta do the software homework, it does wonders for your grade. Just bear through and you will pass.
Didn't help in class at all. Went over one example from homework the whole class period. She says the same thing over and over again and it doesn't help any of the times she says it. Ask for information about your grade and you are told things that she will not do. I do not recommend taking her class.
I loved her for Intermediate Algebra. She is extremely nice and very calm. To me, everything was very clear in her class. Her tests had no surprises: pretty much everything off Hawkes. Extra credit, too. I really liked her.
1/2 the class is failing and she zooms through topics at warp speed so you can't even jot down the notes... and if you take her over the summer expect to really not have a life b/c she crams so much in and gives TONS of homework!!
Good professor, confusing at times, does not give a clear answer when asked. condescending but fair in her grading.
Prof. Voehl is very nice good person. She is very bright and knowledgeable. She is a good teacher, able to get the point across. She is passionate about teaching, you can tell she cares. However, all her tests are unreasonabley timed and you cant't finish them. She expects you to know the information like we've been doing it for months.Need Time!

Prof. Voehl is horrible. She tends to be rude and shuts people down when they ask questions. She is sarcastic and belittles students. She also embarassed me infront of the class.The exams are difficult and many people felt she rushed the material.Do yourself a favor and try to take another teacher for STAT if possible.Btw,we never got extra credit.
Deanna Voehl is so straightforward, you only fail the class if you don't follow instructions. She explains things with great examples, uses analogies to help understanding, and offers lots of opportunities to practice the material. He holds you accountable so you're not going to slough off in this class. Would definately take her again!
To me i think Ms Voehl moves to fast, and makes you feel stupid for asking questions. I did not understand the classwork, even with outside help. Ms. Voehl does not explain it, so you can understand it. I had to drop the class because i knew i was not going to fail. Now that i am taking the class over i am getting it a lot more.

Ms. Voehl is bittersweet. For me, I understood everything in class while she explained it, but at home or on tests, I was lost. Tests were very difficult. She does give great analogies though. To me, statistics is just a hard course and will be difficult no matter where you go. I ended up getting a C and I'm a really good student.
Do not take this teacher!!! She does not teach!! My sister had her five years before me and she did not teach then!! Stay away from her!!!
She is the worst teacher I have had at the college!! She does not help. Taking a online math class to start with is hard. She didn't need to make it harder! She takes forever to respond to question you might have.
I took Geometry online with her and struggled to get a B. When taking the tests she would have questions that were not covered in the text book problems. When i would call to go over questions with her she wouldn't answer and never returned my friends or my calls or e-mails. Only take this class if you know your stuff. She isn't a helpful teacher.
I honestly don't know how she still has a job. She is the most unhelpful professor I have ever had. She does not answer phone calls or responed to emails. Therefor, when you need her to help expain something you have to fend for yourself. They way she taught my class a 3rd grader could have done it. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Mrs Voehl is VERY good with over all grades. i failed every test with D's n F's and bc she saw i was doing my best i got a C. she grades different but in the end it helps students out. if you show interest and actually give it all you got you will pass... bottom line stats is a difficult class period, but Mrs Voehl makes it interesting with her fun
I think she is a great teacher. She gives plenty of example, tests are not hard if you did play attention in class and do your work. She gives homework from the book and must do computer assignments. I recommend this teacher.
Ms. Voehl, is a really good teacher. Her examples are great especially for statistics (I also had her for Mat1033). She is a non-nonsense lady, so if your discipline you should take her class. For the most part her classes have been great!!!!
Ms. Voehl is a really good teacher. She uses online assignments for extra credit and doesn't ask to see bookwork. She explains the material so it can be easily understood. She uses some unconventional expressions to help students remember rules and such. If you do the work and try hard you can pass.
math used to be my favorite subject until i took her class. her class is easy but it is the MOST BORING class ive ever taken and its not the subjtect that's boring, it her. this is the only class ive ever fallen asleep in.
This women is a very terrible teache, she goes through material quickly, if you ask her question she tells you to look in book, she doesnt let you use laptop in class to do her work, and corny jokes
The teacher DOES NOT TEACH! find somebody else! She tries to cram everything and doesn't go over everything. She'll teach things on the new test, the day before the current test. She said in an e-mail, that on her list of priorities that making tests is #1, grading tests is #2, and helping students in #3.. enough said.

I love math but this class is useless. The professor is no help and the textbook is unbelievably awful. All I'm doing is book problems with no graded assignments so you know tests -full of vague problems from hw assignments- weigh more against you. Just take Statistics.
Just take Stats or Calc w/a.g. She's no help & there are no graded assignments to boost your grade like MathXL/Hawkes, horrid textbook with bad explanations and the tests which suck. I look at some of the Q's and wonder where I was supposed to learn them. Then, even if your constructions are done perfectly you still can't get a decent grade. Awful
This is a horrible teacher. She is very sarcastic, boring, rambles on about useless things, doesn't do much to help students succeed. 15 out of 20 people failed in our class. Her tests are too long to finish by the end of class. Doesn't want to help students. The class average was a 56. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HER!
I took her for stats, she was a TERRIBLE teacher. All her examples turned into pointless stories about her kids who were supposedly in Med school...She was not helpful in any way. Her tests didn't match what she was "teaching" in class. I DON'T recommend her to anyone unless you like teaching yourself math and like surprises on your tests.

If you like teaching yourself, pondering on your questions forever, hearing useless lectures about anything in life but algebra and waiting at least 2 weeks to find out what you got on an exam then she is the teacher for you!
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! She fails in communicating the lessons to her students effectively rendering everyone unprepared for tests which, by the way, you will NEVER finish in time because they are so LONG. No practice tests are given. She rants for 45 minutes prior to the first test on how she's going to catch everyone cheating. What a waste.
Great teacher if you are a serious student! She is not the usual community college professor. If you actually want to learn take her class. No , it is not easy but it is not hard. YOU NEED TO STUDY who would have thought.She is the closest thing you will get to a university style professor at IRCC. Will prepare you for future!
I had her for Elementary Geometry. I took the online version. The textbook she used was horrible. You had to have a base knowledge of subject before going into it, but hey. Thats math right? She's a great teacher if your dedicated. I didn't ask any questions, just used the book for the tests. I got an A. Do the homework and you'll do fine.
like some one said before AVOID!!!! it was horrible being in her class. she talks down to everyone and makes you feel really stupid when you ask her a question and gets mad when no one asks a questions so when your in her clas you really don't know what to do and you can consnetrate because she goes off on tangent lol no pun intended!!

Very condescending. Asking her a question is impossible. Class is difficult, she does not help with clarifying statistics vocabulary. Most students test scores ranged from 50's-70's.
Explains everything! (even ways that are wrong) She spent almost 30 min on day teaching us a problem just to say when she was finished that that wasnt how to do it and it doesnt work right. She gives you looks all the time. Want to teach yourself? Go for her. Want homework online and offline? Go for her. She responds to emails fast though
Class isnt hard as long homework is done. She does give multiple explanations of the same thing, but if you look around the room, its because some people have a blank stare. She does use silly analogies, but it gets the point across and helps you learn, which IS the point of taking the class.
She can be somewhat condescending. She gives you a chance to ask a question, yet with a tone and face expression that you would never dare. Class is difficult, she does not help with clarifying statistics vocabulary and she speaks so fast!

Knows the subject well, but doesnt convey it properly to the class. She teaches as though you already know the material. Tests are hard and take most all of the time allowed. Moves very fast. When a lot of people failed a test, she freaked out on the class and stormed out. Many people dropped.
She know's the material but not good at explaining in a way that you can understand. The class was hard she was not very helpfull you must have a base knowledge prior to enrolling in her class. I would not reccomend her to anyone.

Mediocre teaching ability, but not too bad. Moves through material very quickly. Tests are long and sometimes I couldn't finish in the allotted time. Still managed an A in class. She also seems a little unorganized. She seemed nice, but expect to use the online software to teach you more than she does.
I took an online geometry class. It was not fun. The 2 written tests & 2 online tests were difficult.No notes allowed when testing only a postulate sheet she created. The extra credit was an origami project. No specification how much it was worth. She said it was up to her discretion. She also takes forever to respond to emails & post grades.
i wouldnt say shes a horrible teacher but she has a serious attitude problem and very condescending she says things like oh you didnt know that duh lady thats why we're in the class
Don't expect to have a professor. Expect to learn using the online program. A professor she is not. Nor is she interested in helping students succeed. Very rude and condescending. Does not respond to e-mails. Is not clear in her grading policy and uses the phrases "duh" and "just saying.." to make you feel inadequate. Run as fast as you can!
Took the online session so was prepared to teach myself. Frequently uses "I'm just saying..." in emails which makes one feel rather stupid. Is consistently unorganized (which can make an online class just about impossible!) and DOES NOT respond promptly to emails. Made an "A" but I would not take her again under any circumstance.
Very rude. No intrest in helping students. She knows what she is saying and doing so expects every one else to know it.
Ms Voehl was the worst teacher I have ever had. She was not helpful with questions, took upwards of 5 days to respond to emails. She would respond to multi question emails with one word responses. She doesnt care about any of the students in her class. She posted what we needed to do, and we were on our own from there. Thank God for the math lab.

This class is HARDDDDD. its Calc 1 with her and if you are thinking about taking this class then take advice from someone who has aced all other math classes leading up to this. This class is the equivalent of 2 or 3 math classes in one. The teacher try's to teach using echo recordings but overall it's a failure. DONT TRY TOTEACH YOURSELF JUST RUN.
Don't bother attending class since you wont learn anything there anyways. If you're taking this teacher be prepared to attend a tutor every day. Worst professor I've ever had.
You have a better chance learning from a camel. This class is more difficult than running through quicksand with lead foot shackles in the middle of the rain forest. Tests feel like drowning and may result in paralysis or death. Would not recommend this class to anyone.
Prob the best math teacher I have ever had. Calc is a tough subject, you cant just show up and pass for this class. She goes out of her way to help you, and finds away to make it interesting. Not too much HW just the standard web assign, and shes very generous with extension requests. Definitely would take again, she changed the way i see math.
Took the class online. Her videos are very in-depth and packed with material. The only problem is that she's nearly impossible to get in contact with if you have a question. If you're good at working on your own and you don't need help in math, definitely take this class. You can learn at your own pace. Don't need a book but she uses MyMathLab $98
NOT an easy A by any means. Definitely be ready to work. However, Ms. Voehl always kept us awake, laughing, and interested. I loved those marbles she would bring to class to symbolize how many weeks we had left. She is there to help you, and she will help you if you need it.

Professor is really nice and works with you on your grade. All home work and quizzes are easily done, but the tests are hard at the testing center. Brought my grade down. If you need hands on learning I wouldn't suggest this class.
It was a tough class, there was a lot of homework that had to be done each week and the tests were pretty tough. If you are a math wiz the class should be pretty basic but if you're like me and haven't been in high school for 10 years DO NOT take this class online like I did. She was very understanding and she is a good professor.
Worst Professor I've ever had in my life. Does not care about students at all, throws students into exams totally unprepared! Explains two easy problems of every section and has students go home and do 150 problems on their own. She is rude and condescending to students. She humiliates you for asking a question. Told class "to change Major"!

I took this class online (Math is NOT my thing) and it was a BREEZE. Test grades in the 90's on all 4 exams (taken in the testing center) and the HW is easy. Get it out of the way ASAP because she makes it all available from day 1. SUCH an easy class, and Professor Voehl is very understanding that things come up. Would take again in a heartbeat!
If you have other classes and are even "fairly confident" in math, you will have to work your butt off for an A.. I didn't do well, asked for a two day extension she would not give it to me, I wish I took the advice of others not to take this course online..
Not the teacher I signed up for, they switched to her at last minute. So many term papers and essays and have to make a powerpoint for each module. I have a good grade only because I have been working like crazy on her work. Gives ton of work so be prepared to have a heavy load every week! I don't recommend if you just want an easy A.
There is no lecture or help so be prepared to pay to teach yourself this class, or pay for a class to have the ASC lab teach it to you.

I took world religion as an elective credit, since I am interested in the subject BIG MISTAKE! this class made my summer MISERABLE! the class it self was not bad but the amount of Homework is RIDICULOUS! up to 3/4 300 word discussion boards, web presentation per subject! LONG time consuming EXAMS, plus APA 1 or 2 at the time 2 pages long. HORRIBLE!
I cam on here and thought people were exaggerating about this teacher, but oh my god shes horrible! She gives tons of homework! like come on its only a month class. Has a total of 16 discussion boards, three essay papers, both with part 2, 5 presentations and 5 tests no study guide. If you miss doing the peer reviews, she automatically gives you F
I took this class online for flexibility during the summer. massive amounts of reading 7-300 word discussion board posts with 2 required peer responses per post 5 powerpoint presentations with a minimum of 15 slides each 5 tests 1 personal essay 1 research paper WITH corresponding video 1 term paper If you can choose another section, do it.
Online teacher. Literally didnt teach anything. She would also have super confusing instructions for discussions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! The content itself was not bad, but the professor was terrible. It was only a month long, and the amount of work assigned was insane. 20 slide powerpoints, multiple essays, 7 discussion boards, hundreds of pages to read, 6 tests, and video presentations. She would also never grade anything. I would never take her again.
She's okay. Some of these reviews on here are a little much. She did require a lot of work, but this is a college class, right...? My only problem really was that she takes forever to grade. Like, a really, really long time.
Be prepared for a lot of homework. The class was easy to pass if you pay attention to the study materials. Test scores are important if you take this class with Professor Voehl. She takes a long time to answer to emails so if you want to reach her be prepared for a wait.
late grading everything. did not respond to a single question. did not keep a schedule, and everything was late being uploaded sometimes 4-5 days with no extension. horrible class impossible to do your best . review pages for exams had nothing to do with actual exams. the worst
Entire online class was comprised of pdf's and 5 minute YT videos. Had to teach yourself and then do homework based on it. She never answered any of your questions and didn't grade anything until the end of the semester. Exam reviews barely went over the actual Exams. Final was 25 questions, she told us to study 135. Released everything days late.
I ended CALC1 with a 94%. Pretty good. I had to work pretty hard to get (not complaining tho)! Prof. Voehl is very strict. I asked her help on a hmwk prob after posting it to the discussion board. And she wrote back to "post it to the discussion board" - 14 hrs before it was due! I'm limited in characters, but don't take her if you want help.
Hands down the worst possible teacher for Calculus. I have taken all college math courses online before this. She does not timely grade anything. The tests are nearly impossible and it is all self taught with TERRIBLE notes. EXTREMELY condescending and rude via email when asking for help. Dropped class so I can have a teacher.
Voehl, I hope you are reading this. You are not an effective teacher and should consider retirement. You don't teach but speak condescendingly, making students feel discouraged. You're unhelpful when they seek guidance and let personal opinions overshadow objective instruction. Education should inspire and support students, not belittle them.
Exams are taken with Honorlock and she makes you turn in your scratch work paper. When I turned mine in, she took 11% off my exam score just because I didn't number the questions “correctly”. She takes FOREVER to grade, literally until the end of the semester. You basically have to teach yourself everything. Her replies to emails are condescending.
