Great prof, you will learn a lot without the headache.

Butchey is the best Finance professor I have ever had!! Not only does she teach well, but she cares for her students and is very helpful!! I highly recommend her!!

I took this course before and was totally lost, she clarified the difficult material with everyday examples and turned boring material into relevant exciting ones

Even though I never met the prof (online course) I felt like I knew her very well. She gave instant feedback on difficult questions and facilitated thought-provoking discussion. Even though most material was easy it was dry but her practical stories based on personal experiences were useful.

Excited and willing to explain what is notunderstood. Friendly and professional. However, don't rely on the practice test for the tests. In class she makes it sound easy, but her tests are difficult if you don't keep up with the chapters.

Great professor! Very enthusiastic and keeps class interesting. Practice exams are a big help, but read the chapters thoroughly for special questions that appear on the exams.

Good teacher, you're allowed to bring a cheat sheet to every test on one 8.5 x 11" piece of paper, front & back. Boring class, but she tries to spice it up a little bit. Take her. She curves if necessary.

The teacher tries hard to make her examples current and relevant. The class covers a lot of material in a short space of time but she tries to tie the topics together. Her exams are made to ensure you study hard to get the elusive A

She is a very good professor and wants her students to learn. This class is not hard if you read the chapters and do the practice quizzes, the questions for her exams come from these quizzes.

I love her--and will definitely take her again. Straight forward on what to expect--3 tests + attendance is your grade. (15% attendance, 85% tests). The reviews for the exams are very similar to the actual exams so I suggest reviewing them again and again; WATCH out for the final, she pulls out a few that are not from the review--STUDY the PP notes

She's very good. She knows what she's doing and explains well. She gives sample tests that are almost identical to her exams so do them. Her final is usually harder, but just review the sample exam and the notes. She lets you bring in a sample formula sheet with examples.

I have been telling that she's one of the best profs. in FIU, and it's true. Easy grader! Quizs we told was very helpful for the Midterm and Final. Highly Recommended. If you want to learn something in the class and get a good grade at the same time, please take her class.

I never thought that I would grow to like Finance much less love it than when I took International Finance with Dr. Butchey. She made all the text material and our discussions seem like the most important and relevant things in the world.

Tried FIN 4448 before this class and am only now understanding the concepts. Prof Butchey spent a lot of time explaining the differences among options, swaps, forwards and futures using every day examples. I recommend everyone should take this class before FIN 4486.

I can't believe the previous poster took the same class with me and got a totally different impression. I also took the class online and was amazed at how much I learned. The textbook material was a bit dry but through the discussion forum I learned a lot about the application of the text. It was easy because the Prof made the material relevant.

Also had for FIN3403. Great teacher. Took both courses fully online. Just read the book and participate in the discussion forum and you will do great- and learn!

Good professor for getting good marks. In my class we had unlimited attempts at the quizzes so I just took them repeatedly and learned faster than having to read the book. Project takes about 4 hours. The only drawback to the class is that you don't get into the material in much depth. The teacher is very nice, however.

She is extremely easy. You only need to pay attention when she is going over the sample exams. Her exams mirror the sample exams, except for the last four questions which are not that bad at all! Oh and don't bother buying the book. The powerpoints are sufficient

easy class, easy professor. don't need to buy the book. get to use a piece of paper full of notes for the exams. just put all the practice questions on the paper, and you'll pass

I recommend this prof all the way!!! You can take her online class along with FIN 4303 at the same time. Both classes were very interesting and plenty of time to learn the material. You have unlimited attempts at quizzes and exams come from these. End of semester projects are definitely a learning experience, yet time consuming! Good Luck...

The professor has the patience of Job. If I had to answer the dumb questions that some students ask I would lose it! She answers them with very simple explanations as though they were intelligent questions but showing us how even the most dumb questions can be used to give important information. The most caring professor at FIU.

If you want to learn, this is the class to take. I took her online and the exams and quizzes were not the easiest but if you read the material you will be fine. Also, major project requires time and a bit of research. She answered any questions promptly. Overall, great professor.

Awesome professor! The Practice Quizzes which are not graded help you a lot with the Exams. The book was easy to understand. She's very quick when it comes to answering emails. She's so great that I'll be taking her for FIN 4324.

Believe her when she says that she is a nice person. She is also very helpful and truly tries to make everyone understands as much as possible. When it comes to knowledge of the subject, it is second nature to her. I highly recommend her for any finance class.

This class can be pretty confusing and at times the professor may confuse you during the lecture. However, her sample exams are awesome and she'll help you until you truly understand. I'm so glad I took her for FIN 3403.

She is nice but the class is a waste of time. She recently implemeted this time consuming financial literacy project which was BORING! Copy and paste the quizzes and share with other students since the exams are the same thing. Answers emails VERY quickly. The project really made the class a waste. I didn't use the text and got an A!

She is awesome!!! She gives you practice quizzes which are great to understand everything and the exams are based on them. Totally recommended! Only studied from the practice exams and got an A!

Don't believe the hype... so glad I'm out of her class so I can finally speak my mind. I found her to not be that nice and your grade will very much depend on whether she likes you or not. Whether she likes you has nothing to do with something you did in her class or you staying on her good side, she either does or does not from the jump.

At first I would agree with you, I thought the project of teaching financial literacy was a waste of time. But once I started doing it, I realized how much I didn't need to go to my book for answers after teaching it a few times. I knew exactly about the Fed, credit, interest rates, differences among banks, credit unions and a lot more.

Enjoyable class. The Professor gives problem sets which are identical to the exam. Make sure to do the problems and get the process down, then just replicate in exam.

Too Pass this class you MUST Read the book and learn for yourself. She speaks very fast and does get annoyed when students asks questions even though she claims she encourages questions.

The class is very hard...there is a lot of busy work...but she motivates you to do better...you have to constantly b on top of this class...but she helps and answers ur emails fast

I find it appalling how some students write such untruthful comments about Dr. Butchey. Her class requires some studying, but she is super responsive and always willing to help. If you are serious about learning finance, take all her classes. Two thumbs up for Dr. Butchey, she is the best!

Clear lectures, clear expectations, and straight forward exams that are not too difficult if you study

Dr. Butchey gives you the opportunity to gain professional experience while helping the community that needs financial advice (easy project).3 exams 20% each ,but practice quizzes that help you a lot. Nice professor; She will reply your e-mails, and help you with any question in her office hours. You will have to study but is a nice class.

This class was more a life time experience than any other class i took before. The literacy project that worths 16% of the grade is an absolute delight. Something about Professor Butchey, she answers to emails 24/7. She made me feel like it was an on campus class.

Professor Butchey is as passionate as a professor can be. 3 exams a couple of discussions and a project thats worth 18% but it really makes an impact on you. The project is a little of work but definitely manageable. Its a community project that focuses on teaching others about banking. Take her I really recommend her ! Got an A on the class

This was an extremely difficult class for me to understand especially taking it online. Stress levels were extremely high, but luckily the Professor went above and beyond to help me succeed. She provided me with several resources to use in order to pass the class and has made herself available whenever she could. Overall great Professor to have.

Great professor and makes the class very interesting. You get a clear grading criteria and know exactly what you need to do to get an A. All three exams are exactly the same as the chapter quizzes. Study the chapter quizzes (not graded) and you should pass the three exams easily. Final project is a handful but doable. I passed the class with an A

Professor Butchey sets clear expectations for her students. Not an entirely hard class, but a big group project worth 20% of grade. Group project very different, tedious but overall helpful; seeks to improve students.

Overall very easy class. Material was not tough, and great reviews were given before each exam. Test bank given for each chapter and exam questions selected from there. 1 group project, 3 exams, a couple discussion postings, extra credit. Easy A.

She is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Class is based on reality making finance applicable. And gives great letters of recommendation . Her class is a must!!!

Easy class. She is a nice prof, excellent responding emails within a day. If you really are into finance I recommend another prof. since she does not lecture much. 3 exams which are not that bad and a group project with a presentation. Fair grader. You will get penalize on your grade if you miss class.

Extremely supportive professor. While the material is difficult she gives numerous everyday examples and responds to questions within minutes.

She is overall a good professor. Although she did not particularly teach very much in the classroom, she does provide all the information needed to be successful. She provides the test banks for exams and allows a one-page formula sheet. Three exams, group project, and some easy assignments.

Dr .Butchey is a great Professor and amazing human being . She is knowledgeable and very precise. I just finished my online class with her . She is very approachable and provides feedback immediately. She is always able to help in all assignments. She is very fair and firm. You may count on her, she will support you every time that you need help.

Dr. Butchey is one of the best Professors that I had in my years at F I U. She really cares about her students in many different ways. She is always interacting with us given very precise and clear feedback. Although I had Dr. Butchey as the professor for an online course, I felt that she was always available for us and connected to all of us.

Took Online: 3 exams online with lockdown, 4 discussion topics, 1 group project, and Bloomberg exercises which is great because being Bloomberg certified could help you get a job. There's also quizzes to help you understand the material but not graded and optional. Fairly easy class.

This is the best finance professor at FIU. It's definitely one of the easier finance classes but don't underestimate it, the terms that you learn are important. 3 exams, 1 group project, BMC certification, and participation. Your graded on a lot so it's hard to get anything less then an A- . Professor Butchey knows her stuff for sure!

Professor Butchey is a breath of fresh air, she really knows her stuff and has been in the industry a long time so she has great advice and stories. The material for this class is more conceptual so it's important to keep up with the reading. 3 exams, weekly discussions, Group project, BMC certificate, participation&attendance.

Class is easy. She's helpful albeit boring& capable of going on endless-tangents. 3 exams, discussion posts & in-class discussion make up the course. She's very good about getting back to you if you have any questions. She wants you to pass & will give you ample practice to feel better about the exam. Class & exam are solely math-based, no theory.

Took Dr. Butchey for FIN 3403 online. The class is composed of 5 discussions & replies. There are 3 exams that basically count toward your whole grade. She does provide practice exams that are basically similar to the actual exam, which helps a lot!!! It's all about studying and earning good grades in your exams. Overall, I enjoyed this course.

Took online class with her for Spring semester and it was mostly just discussions and 3 tests. There is also the Bloomberg terminal, but all the answers are online. Her tests are somewhat online and the rest you can find in the textbook. Overall easy classes and she responds very quickly when you have any questions. I recommend!

Guys! Butchey is the best proff for FIN4303, easy A, tests are lockdown, quizzes no graded but you should do them cause they are very similar to the tests, plus you will be able to get a certificate on Bloomberg. Take her, you must do it!

Zoom class due to Covid, the class is hard and your grade is based on 3 exams which are 25% each, discussions 15%, and attendance 10%. All tests questions come from the practice ones, just make sure you do those and also have a good study group for the tests with your classmates and you will be fine, it will help you a lot during this class.

Took remotely through Zoom due to COVID. Only 5 online discussions and 3 honorlock proctored exams.. Study the practice quizzes and exams on Canvas and you are guaranteed an A since all her exam problems come from them. One cheat sheet allowed for the exam. If you fail this class you really don't belong in business or finance. This class was cake!

Great Professor. I took her during Summer A and class is interesting and easy. 5 discussions, 2 exams on honorlock and a lot of quizzes, but the exams are pretty similar to the quizzes. So even though quizzes are not graded make sure u do them. Also, everything is online. 1 case study. She gives good feedback.

Take her during the summer in person. You will thank me. No HW. No quizzes. 3 exams 20 questions

The grade is exam-heavy (75%), and the remaining 15% is attendance and small, easy discussions. Do the practice quizzes, and the exams will be easy. If you still need more practice, do the MindTap assignments, which are the end-chapter problems.

Test heavy 75%, no extra credit work unless its a survey but for like 1 point. No honorlock face 2 face but attendance is mandatory. Her lectures are terrible so be ready to learn outside the classroom. Use the practice exams, Mindtap,whatever resources you can find like tutoring if you don't get it. If you do well on the exams, you will do well

Great professor. Practice quizzes/exams are extremely helpful, make sure to do them and you will do good in the exams. Her lectures are kind of fast and she does not go into a lot of detail so you will have to go over the material outside of class. She responds to emails promptly which is very helpful. I would definitely take her again.

I took this class in Summer A after not passing it 2 times, making it my third and final attempt. Let me just say I am so glad I ended up choosing her. 3 tests, no homework (unless you want to practice), overall simple material. I was very stressed about having to dropping out but honestly this professor made my life simple. Thank the lord for her!

Professor Butchey's FIN3403 class is a straightforward course. Attend lectures, complete practice exams, and you'll do well. Unstuck ai can supplement your prep alongside other study tools. Overall an easy A if you put in the work.

Overall good experience with Professor Deanne. Her lectures are not the best so be prepared to learn on your own. The resources she provides are very good. She is also a fast replier through canvas and of course will help you in person.

Took her for Summer A. Attendance was mandatory and the lectures were not engaging at all. Tests weigh 75% of your grade in the class. However, she is very easy to reach out to outside of class to clarify anything and the class is very manageable if you self-study. Would recommend taking her but be prepared to dedicate time to review the material.

Honestly she is a wonderful teacher, her class is so easy. There are 3 tests and 1 really long project. There is no homework, for the first test she gives you the opportunity to combine the test grade with some optional work which was helpful. Attendance is mandatory but she is very understanding and allows you to arrive late. Definitely take her
