Mrs. Sheehan is a good teacher. She puts all of her notes on blackboard and she is easy to understand. She gives lots of chances for you to get bonus points so that you can bring up your grade.
Not a very personable and understanding woman
Not a very helpful lady. She has no remorse for her students. The material is very lengthy and especially hard for students who are not biology majors. NOT EVERYONE TAKES THAT CLASS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO! GOOD LUCK!
This class was so easy I mean what do you expect the human body is complex did you want her to leave out the circulatory system because it was a little difficult. If anone is to blame it is god for making the human body so darn complex in the first place
Tough, but helpful. Willing to explain anything you don't understand. Must KNOW material to score well on tests and bonus quizzes. Didn't like finals because of time limits to choose answers.
w00t. She is a great teacher.. notes are on blackboard and she gives a lot of bonus quizzes.. fun class.. no need for the book.. just notes.
Very easy class, just show up everyday and pay attention and you'll make an A. She is a tad bit moody sometimes though.
you cannot have a better biology teacher. always go for her.
Mrs. Sheehan is hardcore. Like someone said before, she has no remorse for her students, but she did give us study guides for all our tests and gives ample opportunity for bonus points. I'm a terrible biology student, but I made an A in both classes.
Scared the beejesus out of me. Hardcore.
She is a great teacher, takes Biology seriously. Sometimes I felt as though I was going to fail a test, but never did. You need to know the material. She gives plenty of bonus quizes, so be at class everyday. Also, if you don't understand something, ask her.
This woman is awful. She is rude and hateful. DO NOT EVER TAKE HER!!
She is very hateful and scary. I guess she believes she needs that element of fear to get her students' respect, but there are other ways of doing that. Tests were easy if you studied, but God forbid you miss one - you'll be screwed over and have to take an impossible makeup.
Mrs.Sheehan's class is kinda boring but hey you can only teach the human body so many ways. Go to class, take the bonus quizzes and you will get an A if you make C's on nearly every test.Happened to me in both classes. If choosing between her and Wakeman choose Sheehan. Kinda mean person though.
She is a great teacher and is will to explain and help you with whaterver your problem is
Easy, easy class! HOWEVER, Mrs. Sheehan is a heartless robot. I just don't think she likes people.
good professor, but do not try to talk to her. she has no people skills what so ever! teaches good but doesn't seem to like students. received bad evaluations and took it out on the classes the next quarter (even though it was the same class, therefore different students).
Worst teacher ever... she always farted and stunk up the room. She has no heart and will not help you on anything. Take Sellars instead.
Easy teacher, gave lots of bonuses, but always seemed to have a bad attitude
I just took my first exam. She gave us a study guide in the same format of the test. However almost 50% of the test was stupid prefixes and suffixes that that she failed to mention was going to be on the test in class or on the study guide. This resulted in 1/2 the class doing poorly. RUDE TEACHER!
Awesome! Mrs. Sheehan gives great examples in class and relates the human body to things that are intersting. i want to take her for every biology
She was very rude and does not care about here students. She gives a lot of bonus, but I will take someone else if I ever have another Biology.
I'm sure that she is a nice lady, I just don't like the class--boring, boring, boring. She puts all of her notes on blackboard, and gives study guides sometimes. She also gives lots of quizzes for bonus work. She is VERY picky about attendance--can't skip her class a lot.
She's a good teacher but she's not always very approachable. Good notes on blackboard. Important to go to class everyday and not miss the bonus quizzes. I would take her class again if I had to. I'd rather take her than Wakeman.
Awesome teacher. Bonus point add up. Because of this, I didn't get frustrated with my grades and understood material better. Taking the lab at the same time helps a lot with bonus quizzes. I definitely reccommend taking the lab under her too.
She gives a decent amount of bounus problems but she is a heartless witch who is very rude so if you dont have thick skin then dont take this class
Gives you bonus till you can't stand it anymore. Awesome teacher. A little rude but we can't have it all. Read the chapters or the notes on blackboard before class, go to every class and actually study and you will have no problem pulling off an "A".
She was pretty hard, but she gives lots of bonuses. JUST READ THE CHAPTER BEFORE CLASS. She gives bonus quizzes sometimes right when class starts so be on time. If you are one second late she won't let you take the quiz. Her tests are hard.
She is HARD you have to really study and know your stuff, but she is super fair. She gives lots of bonus and there are never any surprises on her test. Don't be late to her class she will kill you, and make the rest of the class suffer with no bonus that day. Over all if you want to really learn something about Biology TAKE HER!!!!!
She can be hard and is very strict. If you read the material and study you will do good. She gives a lot of opportunities for bonus. Be in class, this will help you. Her labs are pretty easy, attendence is the key. I liked her and did very well in 227, better than I did when I first took her in 225.
lots of bonus and tests are fair. she can be rude but i thought she was nice.

What she wrote at the end of the class(shortened): The results for Test 4 are now posted and the results are not pretty. If I had given you what you earned, over 50% of the class would have failed. I thought that you would be interested in learning about the human body, but I was very wrong, all you cared about was a grade. Have a nice summer!!!!
She is a total **** but gives bonus. I worked my ass off for an A in 225. Had the hoghest grade in my 226 lab. And then i make a high B in 227. 227 will kill you. I studied at the minimum 2 hours a day.
She was very helful in the lab and made it interesting. Be in class and be on time. Do the pre labs bc she will check them randomly. Study for the quizes and do all lab reports before you come to class.
crazy old womannnnn
I had her for biology 101. This was the first time I have ever understood biology. She is strict but gives a lot of bonus and gives you a study guide and puts the notes on blackboard. Test grades are kind of low in her class but I dont understand that b/c the questions come straight from the study guide. if you are a non bio major take her 101 clas
Gives good bonus in 101...made C's on the tests and got an A in the class
The class should be easy because she gives study guides and she puts her notes on blackboard. For some reason, though, the class seems to make people really stupid. The grades are always pretty low. she can be really rude but it's because a lot of people in her class are stupid and talk during the class.
very helpfull
I am terrible in science classes but an A in her class with very little effort and was even exempt from her last test. She gives an enormous amount of bonus and study guides for the test. I can't imagine how not everyone has an A in that class. She is strict but only when students are disrespectful.
Come to class and do your work, thats all she asks and it isn't too much. Good teacher, just a lot of information to cover in Bio 102.

I don't recommend her. The only thing good about this class was bonus, which she told that she will not give from next quarter. So good luck if you take her.
she is very MEAN..but an excellent teacher..few words of advice....DON'T BE LATE(she will chew you out infront of the class), be sure your in the right class, always bring you book and paper and a pen(cause she will point you out if you dont)..oh yeah...and DON'T FALL ASLEEP..
She is very sarcastic and will point you out infront of the class. The only good thing was bonus when i was in there. try and take sellers if at all possible!!
Just go to class. she does everything she can to help u get a good grade. she gives some study guides, bonis if u go to class. she is a great teacher.
She is not as easy as I had heard her to be. She is very moody and takes it out on the class if she has a bad day. I failed under her and had to retake it under Wakeman. It was worth it to have a teacher consistent with his moods, even if it did bore me to death.
*very informative and easy. She gives you the notes and outlines-so use them! She is willing to answer question in class and out of class and even has a set study session each week. I don't know how anyone could NOT pass her class-even gives bonus--go to class, print out the notes, and listen! And don't show up late, & don't talk-it's rude!
Wonderful teacher. To me she is the best teacher of biology at this school. All you have to do is do your part as a student and read the chapters and study hard. Her test are very appropriate for what she covers in class. If you have had trouble in other biology classes take her she is great. Just don't be late or rude. Great teacher.
She isn't the worst biology teacher you can take. Paul Ramsey has that taken care of. Her test are pretty appropriate to the material covered in class, however reading the notes and doing the study guide won't do you a whole lot of good. You have to read the chapters to succeed in her class, otherwise you will not have a good grade.
Go to class, make good on the bonus quizzes and all you will need are Cs on the tests..thats how I got my perfect score
Hard tests, but plenty of bonus points so its easy to come out with at least a B. Don't ask her anything though, she will put you on the spot and emabarass you. Be sure to study the prefixes and sufixes at the beginning of each chapter.
SHe is the worst teacher and very BORING i have ever had since i been here. Her test have nothing at all to do with her lecture notes or study guide. If her test were easier Everyone in class would make an A. Too bad that will never happen!
I thought that Ms. Sheehan was very helpful, she gave study guides and bonus points..what more could you ask for. You don't have to write the lecture notes she already has them provided for you on blackboard so all you have to do is print them out. Study the lectures and read the chapters (they are short). I liked her!
She does have the lectures notes you can just print out, she does give out very helpful study guides, and the bonus points help out a whole lot, but she is EXTREMELY boring. And she is has that monotone sarcasim that could hurt even the toughest person's feelings. And whatever you do, I am as serious as a heart attack, DO NOT be late for her class.
No lie. She reads these comments on the website and mentions them in class. I don't care though. She is so condescending. If you are late, she will stop talking and give you this look as you walk in class. Very sarcastic and in a bad way. If you go to her office, she will give you a remark before she helps you. I never missed class or tardy.
I just wanted to start off by sayin this for all of you that are complaining right now: Welcome to College. It is up to YOU to try. You can't expect to walk in there and do nothing and get a good grade. She offers at least 70 bonus points in the quarter. She prints out her notes, and has study guides. Overall, I'd rather have her than any other.
not clear, and not helpful AT ALL
Before today, I would have said I enjoyed her class.. she made an effort all quarter to be much nicer than she has been in past times, but today proved that she can flip the switch at any time. You might as well take Wakeman.. in order to not put up with her moods. She gets crabby and takes it out on the whole class. Save yourself the trouble.
I really would have enjoyed this class, and learning this material, if this professor would have been more pleasant. It is highly unprofessional to act so hateful toward students, and it is a shame that Ms. Sheehan continuously feels the need to do so. She needs to understand that students are human beings, not robots, and sometimes life happens.
Yes, she gives bonus points. You will probably pass, but look out for her sour grapes eat worms go-to-heck personality.
She was the rudest teacher I have ever had. She acted like she was the most unhappy person on this planet. She expects you to never be late or sick. She does give bonuses that do help, but her test are hard and there is a lot of material to learn. This class would not be as hard if she was a nicer more pleasant person. I would not take her again!!!
she is a b****. hates the world. dont take her. shes the devil. rude. she is evil. demon. spawn of satan. the kid damion on the movie the Omen is actually her. DONT TAKE HER STAY AWAY!!!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!! EVIL EVIL EVIL!!!!!!!!!
She is the only Biology teacher who offers such a large amount of bonus. If you attend class every day, study and pay attention, you can make an A easily just with bonus points added to your grade. However, the bonus quizes are hard, so you have to be prepared. She is very mean and will call you out in class if you are sleeping or come in late.
Her class is very easy - test is exactly like study guide, and she gives plenty of bonus. Has a terrible attitude and personality - points out students mistakes in front of class, goes further than she needs to in enforcing class rules. Seniors beware - she does not allow abscences for job or grad school interviews, and abscence penalty is harsh.
Yes, she do give a lot of bonus points but so what when she acts like the Grim Reaper. You can study all you want with the lecture notes, the notes you take in class but if you don't feel comfortable in a situation then you're still not going to do well. Not everyone attending college today just finished high school or living on campus. Get a Grip!
Sheehan refuses to accept abscence excuses for: funerals, job interview, grad school visit. She says to some baseball players in class "maybe you should spend less time on the diamond and more time studying." is hard on KD members cause her daughter was kicked out. ripped up student's paper when he used the copy room (with other prof permission).
Not a very hard teacher, very detail oriented & she gives lots of bonus. Her personality leaves something to be desired, to say the least. DO NOT COME INTO HER CLASS LATE, she will embarrass you & you will keep yourself and others (who were on time) from getting bonus.
She is concerned with the student learning the material. If you fall behind it is okay becausa she gives a lot of bonus work!!
She gives tons of bonus, and the test material is covered in her lectures. And in the books. And on the study guide that she gives for the first two tests. I'm taking her again for 102, and I've recommended her to several of my friends. Make sure you go to class, and be there on time. She is serious about attendance.
She's great as long as you don't ask any questions. Ever. Remember this; its better to not learn it then to ask a question. I've had a lot of teachers in my time at Tech and this is the first person I've met who I thought hated my exsistance, and I don't think I did anything. It's best if she doesn't know you're name. Seriously, she's mean.
Her tests are easy only if allocate a lot of time. She gives study guides. Lots of bonus points but you need to show up for class to earn them. Overall, I enjoyed this class. She's not a bad teacher at all.
Enjoyed taking her will take her for next biology needed
great professor
YOU HAVE TO HAVE TO THE BOOK!Still go even if you think you'll be late, no matter how late, but after around 15 min. after she WILL call you out.She gives bonus quizes A LOT and they help A LOT. make sure to go to class if only for these. she generally will put her notes on blackboard but when i took her she only did AFTER class, check bb reguarly
She is an amazing teacher! Yes, she can be rude, but only to people who deserve it. She gives tons of bonus, exempts from finals, and is extremely nice if you take the time to put forth the effort. If you aren't afraid of work, then you should definitely take her!!!
Shes a very presentable woman, but extremely intimidating. She puts down many of the students without provocation and is very condescending.I didn't like her tests because I felt many questions were vague, and some of them required multiple answers. Her pet peave is sleepers; don't let ANYBODY sleep in your class, or no extra credit quizzes.
All of the previous post have pretty much told the story. I beleive she has been teaching so long she realy just dosn't care if you live or die. She pretty much just wonts to lecture so she can go to the gym.She does give enough bonus quizes to make a huge impact on your grade. Beware If you do poorly on the quizes it can really hurt you. Good luck
She is a good teacher. Her lectures are okay but can be a little confusin' at times. No Homework. She gives out study guides before tests and she gives bonus quizzes.
She does give a lot of bonus points but don't let this fool you. Because she gives bonus she makes the quizes much harder and will not boost grades. I made a B with a 89.2 because she wouldn't spare me 0.8 percent even though I had regular attendance.
Read the chapter before class. Take good notes in the lecture. Review your notes and her notes before the tests, and do the study guide! If you do that, you're good to go. I've taken her three times, and I'd do it again. I've recommended her to all my friends (whether they asked my opinion or not!) You'll work hard, but you'll be rewarded for it!
She is a very hard to work with and will not give you the benefit of the doubt. If you are an athlete dont take her class during your sport cause she will penalize you. Overall I would say to stay clear of her and to take wakeman cause her bonus is a false hope...you lucky to get the regular part of the quiz, much less the bonus.
Just took first test, Study guide helped a little but the test was VERY HARD adn asked for small details, class average was a 60! I need to drop but its going to really hurt me and the bonus quizzes are very hard also, hopefully she eases up but i'd avoid her if possible!
She's very smart and knows her stuff. She isn't very friendly but if you can get past that and not let it bother you then you can enjoy the class. You learn a lot. You can't slack off at all. Do the work and STUDY and you will make an A or B. Definitely not a blow off class.
She's not very nice and can be somewhat rude, but is an excellent teacher. He tests are hard but she gives chances for over 100 bonus points. Pop quizzes are given almost everyday, but if you study before class you should have no problem. You MUST READ the chapters to make a good grade. If you study in detail and READ, you can easily make a B.
She is a pretty good teacher. She knows what she is talking about. Study guides match the test pretty well and you have to take notes in class. She has bonus quizzes and pop quizzes often and they're pretty helpful. I really didn't mind her class and I hate Biology. If you pay attention, take good notes, and look over the chapter you'll do well.
she is a good teacher, she knows her stuff, but if you miss a day do not expect to make anything up. use her office hours and she will help you, your grade in the end is final. if you are one poimt away from an A then you will get a B
Do not take. I came into class with a good attitude, but I had to drop it because my study habits that have gotten me A in every other class got C avg. in there. Very confusing and doesn't seem to know anything not in the book. Very rude.. way too cocky for her own good (take Sellers)!
Mrs. Sheehan is not hard but she is very rude to you if you come in late or your cellphone rings, but other than that she gives tons of bonus and her test are her study guide. So the lady is not as mean as everyone makes her out to be. If I had to take this class again I would still take hers.
I've now had her for Bisc 225,226,227 and would do it again. I haven't read a comment posted that isn't true to some degree. The bottom line is if you are a science major these classes are all hard and require work. She's not naturally friendly but I must say having her for 3 qtrs she has grown on me. I like her. Just be on time and work hard.
I don't know why everyone is saying she's a horrible teacher, she's not. Much better than my 101 class. I was actually interested in class. Go to class, listen, do the study guides she gives out, and you will do well. Put some effort in it! She gives so many bonus points--w/out them I would have a C and I will end up with an A. Great teacher
The tests are relatively easy if you do your studying and memorize all the appropriate things. Shes a very judgmental person and is not afraid to insult you in front of a class.
This teacher is really unfair to me. I studied the study guide she gave and read some of the book and it was nothing like the test. The class average was close to a D on the test. She doesn't know how to teach the information and is very vague. She reads straight from the notes. Attendance is mandatory and is very judgemental.
She is very gruff and strict. Don't come to class late, don't use your cell phone, and don't eat or drink during class because she will call you out in front of everyone. She really is a good teacher. You have to study hard for her tests, but she really knows her stuff. Go to class everyday and study and you'll do good. She puts her notes online
She is decent teacher. I think it'd the class would be much more difficult if a person had never had biology or chemistry before. I just payed attention in class and looked over the study guides before the test, and I did just fine. Do well enough, and you can get out of taking the last test.
Take Sellars! I agree with all people smart enough to rate her negatively. Worst teacher I've ever had. I now hate Biology. Her study guide was helpful for Test 1, beyond that, useless.
Mrs. Sheehan is a good teacher although the only thing is that she favors Sigma Kappas because her daughter is one. She is rude and doesnt care about her students. Shes does love what she does but she expects you to know as much as her. She will talk you down like your a 1st grader if you dont understand. If you can take another teacher!!!!
i think she's crazy. she is rude to the students and she yelled at us almost every day. turn off your cell phone and don't be late or she'll go off on you. she gives study guides that really help on the tests but she belittles you if you ask questions. stay low on her radar and laugh at the people she is mean to and you'll be fine.
Absolutely horrendous. I'm a graduating senior and she is without a doubt, the worst teacher I have ever had. Any questions asked are met with judgment and sarcasm. She talks about inane subject matter, such as the lion king soundtrack and soft bananas (metaphor for her love life) - Take someone else. Also, don't buy the book.
She is completely helpless when it comes to questions actually regarding the upcoming test. She will condescend every question you have if she feels that you should have that answer etched in your mind for all of eternity. Also, if you have a short attention span, don't bother taking her because she always makes superfluous comments during class.
had her for 226 and 228 labs. had her ta for the first lab and her for the second. Never had a real problem with her in class. She seemed to like what she was teaching in that lab. But I have heard all the horror stories and I think I might have just happened to have her lab at a good time of the day when she wasn't in a bad mood.
I really enjoyed Sheehan's class. People complain because she's "mean" but really she's not. Sure, if you arrive to class 20 min late, talk, text, sleep, or whatever, she'll say something mean. But its college, not first grade. She treats you how you act. Her outlines are good, and if you fill out the study guides youll do fine. Id take her again.
Sheehan is an okay teacher, you just really have to pay attention in class. And don't be late! NO CELL PHONES!! and don't look around during a quiz or a test, she will think you are cheating. tests aren't the easiest, but this IS college. just pay attention and don't look at the clock and you will do fine.
she is a pretty good teacher. she doesnt like students that come to her class just to sleep. she will point you out in a heart beat! but i dont blame her! i mean that is totally rude!! her test come straight from the book. read that book and you will do good.
Sheehan was HORRIBLE!! RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN!!! I UNFORTUNATELY HAD THE OPPROTUNITY TO HAVE HER AND "UGH" IS ALL I CAN SAY.. SHE IS VERY RUDE TO HER STUDENTS (THOSE WHO DONT HANG ON TO HER LIKE GOD) THE TOP MAN TO TAKE AT TECH IS DR. SELLARS! HE IS AWESOME!!! LOVE'D HIM!!!
Five tests that are easy if you study the study guides, daily quizzes that are 5 points plus 5 bonus (10/5) - just show up and pay attention to the lecture, and you have an easy, solid grade.
One of the GREATEST teachers I've ever had. Gives you plenty of notes, study guides, & help. You have an opportunity to earn 150 bonus points throughout the quarter. Tests are 100 multiple choice questions & aren't that hard. She means business & is firm, but is a wonderful teacher... & she NEVER keeps you the whole class time. TAKE HER! (:
Really annoying and she was always yelling at people. Hated the class but i cant lie she gives out about 150 bonus points
This woman is extremely condescending. She has a bad attitude for no reason at all, and while she demonstrates adequate knowledge of her subject, she antagonizes people for absolutely no reason. She has unreasonable expectations and does not compromise. I have never EVER disliked a professor as much as her. She is unpleasant putting it mildly
Avoid this teacher if possible. She doesn't care if you learn the material, she's more concerned with her 'tough girl' image. Only ask questions if you have a master's level knowledge of biology because she will belittle you in front of the entire class. I'm okay with strict teachers, but she is more than strict-she is irrational and discouraging.
Don't talk on phones, text message, pass notes, cheat, talk to neighbors, sleep, ask redundant questions, eat, drink, or use a laptop for internet use in her class and everything will be fine. Read the book religiously, take notes in her lectures, and record the bonus questions for a solid grade.
This woman should not be teaching non-major biology. She is not helpful. Yes, she gave a study guide for the first test, but it didn't help. Not done with the class yet but just studied for 4 or 5 hours solid for the second test only to make a C+. The average was a 64. The test was completely different from lecture and included minute details.
As an adult in her class I found her to be very disrespectful to her students. She is not approachable and makes the entire class pay for a few students instead of simply making them leave. She is very unprofessional and a disgrace to her profession. It is a shame that LA Tech lets her get away with treating her students this way.
I am a 26 year old returning to school to finish my degree and I have never met a teacher who was so disrespectful and rude to her class as a whole. Instead of addressing individual students who cause problems she chooses to take it out on her whole class. She acts as if her students questions are stupid when it is her job to teach them.
This lady is nuts-o. i have a required class that only she teaches smh. I dropped the first time now i cant, im a little worried, but at least this time i know what i am getting myself into, o aznd btw dont sit in the front.
Worst teacher at LA Tech. I have never met a teacher so rude. She acts as if everyone in her class is stupid and that they are lucky she graces them with her presence. She is not approachable and has a bad temper. She is a sorry excuse for a teacher. She seems to be a very unhappy person with no patience. She should not be teaching.
Pathetic excuse for a teacher! Rudest teacher I've ever had. Not helpful at all and doesn't respond well to student questions! She was not mention to teach.
The worst teacher ever! She started off o.k. but as the class went on day to day she became a mean and anger monster!!! IDK who told her that she should be a prof.
Don't listen to everyone else's comments, probably just lazy freshmen. YOU HAVE GOT TO STUDY TO DO WELL! If you show her respect, then she'll show you respect. She gives very detailed tests, so just skimming won't cut it. She also give daily quizzes with 5 points bonus on each over the lecture that day. Pay attention, don't act stupid, and STUDY!
Sheehan is a bitter woman, but she is clear so you know exactly what is expected of you. No food, drinks, cells phones, talking, going to the bathroom, or asking questions she deems dumb. She is a difficult teacher to avoid taking, but if you can...avoid.
Students are not giving Shehan enough credit. Yes she is a little bitter but if you go to class and try to understand the material.you will do wonderful. Please don't ask "stupid" questions because she will bite your head off! Don't make her repeat herself! The bonus is out of this world. She is known for giving alot of bonus quizzes during class!
Sheehan will not ruin your life. Just go to class, she gives participation points just for being there. She also gives quizzes so just look over your notes during class. Do this and you can make C's on the test and still make an A in the class. Just put forth a bit of effort and you will be fine!
Wonderful teacher. 4 tests. Daily quizzes are 10 questions, but only 5 count, and the rest are bonus, so you can get up to 100 BONUS points in the class. If you miss a lot of class, it is going to affect your grade. The class is easy if you STUDY and READ the book. Don't just expect an easy A, you have to work for it.
I had Sheehan for 225,227, and the 2nd lab 228. i really enjoyed all three classes (the first lab is taught by a TA) made and A in both labs and a B in the second class but i missed several days that quarter. daily quizzes with 3 to 5 bonus points per quiz, as long as you put forth a little effort and skim before class youll be fine
I took her for 225 and 227, got A's both times. Go to class every day to take the quizes, she offers atleast 5 bonus points a day, they help cushion the grade on her extremely hard tests.
Bring up Disney she loves it. Every time some asked a question she would be condescending. She lost my daily quiz and said that there was nothing she could do. Didn't even bother to look for it. She's a lazy teacher who reads off of power points. Don't go to the bathroom unless you want to get yelled at.
Loved her! Bonus points! She made a boring subject fun.
She gives 10 random quizzes, so pay attention. On each one there is an opportunity for 5 bonus points. 5 tests...all multiple choice, but kinda hard. She also gives 2 bonus points every time you attend class. If you like biology and don't mind reading the book, take her.
She gives daily quizzes, 5 points of which are bonus. If you collect enough points, you don't have to take the final. How nice is that? She's very helpful and easy to talk to. People gripe, but come on, anatomy is a lot of memorization, so buck up and do it. If you attend class and read the book, you should make an A easy.
Amazing! She really breaks it down for you, this especially helps when biology just isn't really your subject. Daily quizes which you can accumulate over 100 bonus points from. She tells you how it is and what she expects. Loved her!
Great teacher!!! She does not tolerate rudeness or cheating!! and will let you know about it. Respect her and she will respect you. Overall she keeps the subject interesting and is always available to students. Best BISC teacher to have!!
One of the best teachers at Tech. Dont get me wrong, you have to study. But if your interested in the human body you will like her class. Gives bonus points. Come to class, pay attention, and you will learn alot.
The best teacher I have EVER had. She actually knows what she's talking about. I don't understand why people give her such a hard time. If you're immature, she'll treat you like you're 5. Gives an insane amount of bonus. If you can't make an A in this class, then that's your problem. Amazing teacher!!!
Took her for A&P I, made an A, and taking her for A&P II. She's really a great professor, but will call you out if you're being rude or acting immature! If you can't behave, that's your problem. Textbook required, bonus quizzes, and tests are mostly multiple choice. If you're serious about it, she'll be one of the best professors you'll ever have.
I've taken her for both of the A&P classes and love her! She asks for respect from her class and gets it. She is an awesome teacher and you can actually pay attention to her lectures. She gives a good bit of bonus on the daily quizzes so definitely go to class.
Not too difficult but expect to be teaching the material to yourself.not hard to make a good grade but as a teacher and person she is very dry and unhelpful. If you would like to have a good grade you can get it. If you want a good experience and not dred every class, don't take. Seems like she hates teaching and students pay for it :(
I took her for A&P I and II. A quality professor who clearly knows her material and will teach anyone who is willing to put in an honest effort. That's all the asks--just show up and give her the respect she deserves! Favorite professor of all time, yall. Take her to get the most out of your education dollar.
I hear she is great for her class, but her lab is awful. I barely made a D. She marks on our workbook what we need to study for the 100 question test...there were almost 600 notecards. Her quizzes after class are always hard and if you fail them she takes points off of your homework grade as well. Take her for the class...DONT TAKE FOR LAB!
I am a graduating senior and never in my 4 years have I disliked a professor so much. She is rude and she makes students feel as if they are prisoners. It makes me angry that she is a professor at the university. She does give bonus points but if you are a good professor and you teach and prepare your class correctly you shouldn't need bonus points
I took Sheehan for both A&P classes and absolutely loved them. If you're a good student willing to put in study time for her tests and quizzes, you will do just fine! She is by far my favorite professor, and she knows her material!
Strict about attendance and cell phones, but knows the material for class and explains it well. Tests are difficult and require a lot of studying. The extra credit she gives through quizzes and review questions make the class somewhat easier. Overall, good teacher, so long as you stay on her good side
The worst teacher ever!
Sheehan knows her material. she does a great job in lectures. shes a little sarcastic when you ask questions and you may feel like she tries to embarass you. she cares about your success and usually tells you exactly what is on the test. listen in class and dont take notes. take all notes from textbook. every question on test is from book
She gives quizzes everyday. She goes over her lectures really quickly so it's extremely hard to keep up or take notes. You have to read the chapters before class or else there's no way you'll pass. I read them and still struggled. Her tests require A LOT of studying. You really need to know everything that's covered in the book. Very hard tests.
READ THE CHAPTERS BEFORE CLASS. Bring your book to class and follow along. For labs, make sure you don't throw away lab reports, she takes them back at the end of the quarter. Easy class if you're willing to study.
Tough.
READ THE CHAPTER BEFORE YOU GO TO CLASS. She gives quizzes every day of class over what you just went over so it will help you tons if you have already studied it. She gives extra bonus points on the quizzes alot also. Her test are crazy hard. Make sure you start studying a week or so before if you want an A in the course.
She knows her stuff and teaches 225 and 227 every quarter so sometimes she can go over the material super fast. Read each chapter before class. There are quizzes at the end of each class over the lecture so PAY ATTENTION! Try to remember the quiz questions because they will be on the tests an study vocab. If you fail, it's your own fault.
The hardest professor ever lol that may be an exaggeration but she is difficult. I spent many early mornings mid afternoons and late nights studying for her class. You get out what you put into it. But she is a nice woman, she just has very high expectations.
She is possibly one of the MOST disrespectful people I've ever encountered. She is beyond insecure, she uses Dr. Wakeman's notes and test but doesn't truly understand them well enough to explain it or make it come alive. She considers it a favor that she is teaching you rather than understanding that you actually pay for this class. RUN!
As a senior with a 3.9+ GPA, I must say that anyone complaining about Mrs. Sheehan isn't likely to achieve success in professionalgraduate school. Sorry to bust your bubble Freshmen and Sophomores, but do you think 300400 level classes are going to be any easier? Not every class can be as easy as bowling or psychology. Yes, you have to study!
Mrs. Sheehan is strict and has high expectations of her students. She has a very dry sense of humor but overall she's a great teacher and willing to help when you ask. Remember the quiz questions, read the chapter, and do the end of chapter questions, and also know the vocab. All test questions come from the book.
She doesn't play. Some students think she's too strict but she is simply professional. You show up, buy the required materials, pay attention, do as you're told (basically act like an adult) and you will do just fine. There is a lot of material to cover but no surprises on quizzes and tests. I have taken her twice and would do it again.
She is strict about behavior and cheating, and her quizzes are crazy difficult, but at the end of the quarter she gave me the extra points to boost me a letter grade. Really read the notes and book for an A. GO TO EVERY CLASS
Terrible teacher with a terrible attitude. She does not teach - she simply regurgitates a brief, vague version of a chapter then quizzes you daily on every minute detail that she didn't mention. She is literally useless - unable and unwilling to clarify or expand on topics. She is rude, sarcastic, condensing, and disrespectful. Just read the book.
Possibly the best introduction to college that you will ever have. She does not care if you pass or fail and she will talk to you like you are stupid. With that being said, she has prepared me for all future professors. She flies through the material and you are expected to know it. There will be a quiz the first day of class so read the chapter!
She is a good, realistic college teacher. She is set in her ways and specific about how she wants you to take tests (DON'T WRITE ON THE TEST!!!). Daily quizzes that can actually help your grade. If you want to do well, read before class. She posts notes online. You definitely have to study if you want to do well, but getting an A is not impossible.
The class has SEVERAL bonus opportunities. Yes, you have to read before class and you can ALWAYS expect to have a quiz that day but you will learn more in her classes than any others. She is also my advisor and is VERY helpful. People say she's rude but she is very fair and nice one on one. If you skip your quiz points-which help-will be taken away
You know the saying, "theres no such thing as a stupid question?" Well, with professor Sheehan, that's not true. While I passed the class with a B, it was with no regards to any help of hers. She will make you feel utterly stupid. And, if she doesn't know the answer, she bumbles around and turns it back on you. Has no respect for any of her student
She is the worst professor I have ever had. She is extremely disrespectful to her students. Don't ask questions in there because she will try to make you look stupid. She will take off points on your test if you give her any reason to. Can honestly say I hate her.
Tough professor, but not impossible to get an A. She expects you to read beforehand and gives quizzes at the end of every class, but often there are bonus points included in the quizzes. Attendance is mandatory to keep those bonus points though. Read before, pay attention in class, and do the reviews provided and the tests won't be horrible.
Sheehan has a bit of a reputation at Tech, but I think it is her own purposeful doing. She acts big and bad to make you think you should be scared of her tests, but it's not true. If you do what she tells you, you'll do great. Slack, you'll fail. Do not be afraid to ask her questions. She won't actually scream at you.
Don't dare make a quizlet for any of her classes because she will look on quizlet and find them and then embarrass you in class and accuse you of cheating. I am a straight A student and she makes me feel stupid even though I make As in her class
Mrs. Sheehan's class is hard, but not impossible. If you go to every class, actually read the chapters, take notes, and study every day you will be okay. She gives you a study guide for every test except one. She also gives bonus. Shes tough, but not as bad as everyone makes her out to be. If you need help she will help you outside of class.
Professor Sheehan was honestly disappointing. she uses he power to instill fear and intimidation within students. I never felt comfortable in her course or asking questions because when I did I was met with death stares and blank expression, sometimes I got a sarcastic answer as well. No help whatsoever! i don't appreciate her attitude at all AVOID
Her class is hard but not impossible. Extra credit is offered. Be ready for the daily quizzes they can make a difference on your grade. She will hold extra times for students to come for questions before a test. Don't take this class with other hard classes. If you are respectful to her you will be fine.
Sheehan is defintely one of the most disrespectful and cruel teachers I have ever encountered. She belittles you in class if you don' t know the answer to a question. Her test are fairly passable, if you attend class EVERYDAY, read the chapter before class, do the study guide, and chapter assessments. You only have 4 test and no quizzes. Very Harsh
Sheehan's biology classes are tough. I am an A student and struggled in her class. When she tells you to read the chapter, READ the chapter. DO the review questions before each lecture. Be ready to study in advance. She is hard, but not the worst. However, she is very unpleasant, and serious when it comes to her class.
If you make a Quizlet, make it private. Constantly be reviewing the material, pop quizzes are often. You will have 4 tests, so make them count. Phones on silent/off or you'll get 25 points off your next test. Don't mark on her tests or half the points on your test are gone. Lastly, take this class seriously or else it'll definitely be a drop class.
You have to read the chapter and study it to get an A. Her lectures aren't very helpful at all, pretty much a complete waste of time. Just make sure to study important points from the textbook.
Tests are extremely impossible except for Test #3!! She says to read but it is still impossible. Occasional bonuses.
I would say she's unapproachable and a dictator to put it nicely. No matter what effort you put in, you're just another student to her. Attendance is taken but you don't revive points for it. Good luck to all who have to take this course with her.
I've never felt hopeless until I took her class. She doesn't care about her students. If you finish with a 69.9 don't go to her for any help. You'll either be ignored or pretty much laughed at. You need a C in this course and she couldn't care less if you pass or not. I'm in awe of the fact that she's still employed. My worst experience at LA Tech!
Honestly, she probably isn't a bad person as she is a bad teacher, she acts like she doesn't care and when you ask for help she'll say that she has given you a lot of chances too.
Class is tough regardless and she doesn't do any favors. Either show up, listen, & study or fail the class.
Class if very difficult as it is, and she makes it much more difficult then it has to be on top of that. She expects you to spend your whole life studying for her class by the way it seems in there, and honestly, if you want an A, you better do just that.
This is not an easy class. Be prepared to know the chapter like the back of your hand BEFORE the lecture even starts. You are expected to know the material as she is teaching it to you. Quizzes are tough (she reads the questions to you). It is possible to make an A, but it takes serious effort. Oh, and don't make your Quizlets public.
For this class you basically have to come in knowing everything, or you'll struggle the whole course. You have to read and know almost every word in the chapters in order to pass any of the exams or quizzes. Not a very easy class.
Probably the worst teacher at Tech. What is funny is that she doesnt know the material any better than you could, its all out the book and she just reads outlines of it. I've heard from Bio majors that she isnt as smart as she puts on and you can see it in her higher level classes. Rude and inconsiderate, the fact she still teachers here is a joke
A quiz everyday for a grade so field trip for another class? Drop Sheehan's class. Skipping class isn't an option. There isn't a slide show of info that she lectures from its a slide show of photos. She has tests on green scantrons and she provides them for u but some questions she has two answers for? I don't think she knows how scantrons work????
Sheehan structures her class so that students who work hard and put in time will make an A. In order to do that, go to class, READ AND LEARN the chapter before the lecture. There are pop quizzes at the end of class, but each quiz has 5 points bonus. She also gives bonus quizzes at the beginning of class too. Do not write on her test!!
Though I heard nothing but negative comments about Dr. Sheehan, I surprisingly enjoyed her class. It is possible to get an A but you MUST put in the effort & read the book. There is a pop quiz almost every class that can make or break your grade so NEVER skip. Don't try to become her friend - just go to class, do what you need to do, and leave.
You will have a pop quiz every day so you must read the chapter. The test are pretty detailed but at the end of every test there are a few vocabulary words.
Although Mrs. Sheehan can be tough, it is not impossible to get an A in the class. I took her for 225, 227, both the labs, and made A's on all of them. Don't skip, read the chapters, and pay attention to the quiz questions (they may be on the test). The tests can be very detailed, but if you know the general idea of the chapters, you'll be fine.
By far, the worst instructor I've ever had. She doesn't put forth any effort for her online class, as her instructions were "read, take a test." She offered no lectures until most students did poorly after the first exam. Her "lecture notes" were taken from the assistant website. When I called to inquire about a text book, she was snarky. RUDE!
I am a senior and she is the worst professor I have taken. She tells you to read the chapters before class and multiple times before the exams. I read the chapters over and over and made a 65D in her class. I took BISC227 with a different prof and made an A. You MAY have a chance of passing if you have lots of extra time on your hands.
You have to read ahead and annotate the chapters if you want to pass. There are 100 questions on each test and everything from the chapters is fair game. I recommend that you start studying 2 weeks prior to all tests. Sheehan sounds tough but as long as you put in the effort, you should do fine. Don't skip or leave class early!
Okay, she is easily the my least favorite teacher I have taken. She doesn't care about you as a student or as a person. I taught myself everything because all she does is pull up a picture and talk. I also felt I could never ask a question because she tends to belittle people that do speak up. I have to taker her again unfortunately
Sheehan is one of the most hard to deal with people I have ever met. She has a very limited knowledge of the subject and it shows in her lectures. For her classes, you just read, listen, read, listen. Laziest teaching ever, but if you read enough, you'll do well. Her tests are 100% multiple choice, but not in a good way
An A is definitely attainable. It seems like a tough class but when you get into further biology classes you start to really appreciate how simple and straightforward this class is. You have to read a lot but this class is great because it definitely pays off for studying.
Everything is memorization but its so much information you better start really studying for tests 2 weeks ahead of time. Test are very detailed. The best thing to do is to read the information that you will cover in class before you go because she gives random pop quizzes and you have to learn it eventually anyway. Don't fall behind
Spelling matters.
She does not care about your opinion. If you ask a question in class she will embarrass you and make you feel stupid. Tests are all multiple choice but some questions have nothing to do with the chapter. Homework for each chapters has over 200 questions each. She gives random quizzes and SPELLING MATTERS. Would not recommend her to any student.
Be prepared to teach yourself entirely. Tests can be on anything, even the smallest blue box you skipped over. Doesn't like to answer questions, so don't bother unless necessary. Quizzes, teach yourself the book well before each lecture, they're often fill in the blanks. Drops bonus over 2+ missing days. Spelling matters. 1 hr timer for 100 q test.
Sheehan is an excellent professor. Anyone who says different either didn't listen to her very clear instructions or has been "babied" by previous easy professors. You will learn a lot from her. If you're going into biology and can't do well in her class, that's your own problem. She can be a bit sassy at times but it's justified. Read before class!
I don't know what else to say other than you have to work for it. Dr. Sheehan is a workhorse of a professor and expects the most out of you. If this class taught me anything, it was how to properly study for an exam. She also likes to throw in the hardest pop quizzes at random times.
Tests are just memorization. Not that hard. But she will belittle you in front of 150+ students. She did that to at least one person every class time. She wants people to struggle. If someone finished the test within 15 min, she got so offended. You cant have any other opinion unless it matches with hers. Stubborn and unnecessarily rude.
Be ready for a quiz every time you show up. Unfortunately, the quizzes WILL make or break your grade so be prepared. She wants you to know way more than you need to because it's better than knowing less. She is stern, but highly intelligent. At midterm I had an A in her class, but the last 4 quizzes and final hurt my grade. Make sure to study ALL
you better be at every class or else you won't get to take the quiz and it will hurt you more than you think. you also better read the textbook before class or you will fail the quiz and that will be just as bad. she is a cool person and she loves this subject so if you try and pay attention, then you will enjoy the class as well.
You have to go to class to pass!!! There is a quiz every class, even the first day of class. It is a lot easier than the BISC 225. She gave study guides for every test, but 1. Some of the test were open book also. Be careful on the open book test, if she sees you flipping through the entire book she will not do open book anymore. Study every day!
This class was the toughest i have ever taken in my life. All i can say is you better live, eat, and breathe anatomy or you wont pass. i have to retake this class.
Hard teacher, but is extremely straight forward about the work load. Test are 100 question and 100 points, and 20 of those question come from CONNECT quizzes done online. And don't even think about having your phone out in class.
She is very straight forward. If you do what she asks you will never have a problem. No phones ever. You have to go to pass. It is the hardest class I have ever taken. She is very fast and wants you to know what she is talking about. You have to literally center your life around anatomy to be able to keep up. DO ALL bonus opportunities!!
Hardest class I've taken for sure! Read your textbook, go to class, and be ready for quizzes. Take detailed notes, she doesn't allow phones or computers, so be ready to write. Very straight forward.
Don't take this professor. Periodt.
It is a difficult class because the material is hard. She was a good teacher and was very thorough in her lecture. She also gave all materials needed for tests, and many opportunities to learn more.
Came into this class super afraid. She is tough but she teaches very well. I have learned this quarter more than I have any other quarter. Must put in a lot of work. It gets a lot better once half of the class drops.
She's not as bad as everyone tends to make her up to be. Just read the chapters and do connect.
Very knowledgeable and an extremely smart person. Expects you to put in the work. Read everything before class and do well on the quizzes that way if you have a test grade or two that aren't great it won't kill your grade. Test questions sometimes make you think, not "trick questions" but you may need to know several pieces of info to answer.
Although Anatomy and Physiology is a tough subject that has a lot of material to learn and grasp, Sheehan does not make the learning experience any easier. She is hard and unreasonable majority of the time. I would advise taking someone else, but if stuck with her read the material EVERY DAY, complete Connect, and beware of quizzes. Good luck.
Sheehan is not near as bad as everyone says she is. There is a lot of material and she expects you to put in the work. She posts her notes online and all the questions that are on tests are in her notes or in the textbook. There are also opportunities for bonus. You have to work hard, but you learn a lot.
She is not as bad as everyone says. Just do connect and study the chapters and you will be fine.
Sheehan is not as bad as her reputation, she's just very old school. Next quarter (winter 2020) she is not doing quizzes so your only grade will be tests/connect. Just make sure you are on your game with studying (AND DO CONNECT) so you don't get behind (especially with the nervous system test it's really hard)
Sheehan is so difficult. Her class is passable if you are 100% dedicated to her class only. DO NOT take another hard class with this class. Her tests are long and hard. Get a study group and study together, it helps I promise. If you don't study, you will have to drop or you will fail. Study every single night. You will have quizzes after lectures.
honestly the only reason you go to this lab is to take quizzes. You don't learn anything that isn't taught in the lecture and yet somehow the lab is a lot harder. Youre tested on assignments that you complete before you come to the lab. Youre not graded on very much and the final is pretty hard. Take the lecture but dont take the lab
I've heard all the rumors and my friend they are true. I've sat in the front, I passed this class with an A, but having her as a professor was the best form of torture I could recommend to anyone. I don't believe anyone actually WANTS to take her, it's because we HAVE to. Making snide comments, being such a pessimist and hating her job... Sheehan.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking anatomy and physiology with Ms. Sheehan. Her class is not easy, but getting an A or B is doable. If you attend class, pay attention, and take notes you will do fine. If you cannot handle her class then you should not be in college. Don't complain about your grade or her teaching if you don't study or show up to class.
Sheehan is not kind, patient, gentle or caring. However, if you pay attention and study your lecture notes and the textbook EVERYDAY the class is passable. If you need help in the class, do not ask her. She will make you feel stupid for asking, find a tutor or someone who has already taken the class. Do not get on phone, do not skip class.
Had I known how bad taking Sheehan was, I would've definitely taken it elsewhere. I can read out of the book myself. I don't need a professor to. I need a professor to TEACH. You can't review the tests so you have no clue what you should study more on. Etc. I don't advise anyone to take this class. It should be a challenging class, not impossible.
You must understand, the material is not the hard part, learning is not the hard part. She teaches in a specific way, like shes speaking your language when shes lecturing. But when you go to take the test it's like some other language for half of the test. Taken her for 3 classes and I have had to retake on class 3 times, I've yet to pass 227.
DO NOT TAKE!! WHATSOEVER! HORRIBLE GRADER, AND DOESNT CARE IF YOU DONT LIKE IT. i had an awful experience with this class and shouldnt have. my peers told me not to take her and still did and ended up falling. dont waste your time with her.
Sheehan's reputation most certainly precedes her. I foolishly thought it was all rumors--"surely those who did bad must've not put forth much effort." Boy, was I wrong! Do not take this class if you cannot devote half of your waking hours towards it. One would be better off studying the subject independently and taking the credit exam after
Only does half the job of a professor. All the horror stories about her are true. Her lectures don't cover even a quarter of the material you will need for the test. You NEED the textbook and you HAVE to memorize everything because absolutely anything could be on the test.
This class was miserable. Not because of the material, yeah A&P is challenging, most biology classes are. Mrs. Sheehan made the class miserable. She is intentionally rude to her students, when you ask a question shell either embarrass you or just refuse to answer. I have never felt more discouraged in a class and I love A&P.
If you go into this class ready to work hard and be consistent, it is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Mrs. Sheehan makes you work hard for your grade and I respect that. My only problem was that she wasnt always the nicest to her students and would make a point to be rude.
I've never seen a biology class that the teacher didn't bother to make any assignments. Once you read the chapter, you must go online and answer between 140-200 ?s PER CHAPTER! If you miss the question, it will keep coming back. She has a very high fail rating, parents and students complain about her every quarter, not sure how she's employed
I really do not see how this woman still has a job. Almost impossible to finish the class without having a complete mental breakdown. She requires 100-200 connect questions per chapter with 2-5 chapters per test. If you want to hold on to the slightest bit of sanity DO NOT take this class.
She is annoying. She doesnt care about students. Every time I would wake up for her class I had literal chest pains from not wanting to hear her voice. Im sure you will have to take her so just be prepared for the worst class.
I am an A student and I was lucky to get a B in her class. Lectures are monotonous and not very helpful, you pretty much have to read your way through the class with your textbook. There are questions as you read that she admits has nothing to do with her tests. She asks questions on her tests that aren't in the textbook. Never again.
Prof. Sheehan is not exactly a 4/5, but I previously gave her a 2/5, which was a bit low I feel. 3/5 is fairly accurate in my opinion. Regardless, her exams are rather difficult. She doesn't focus on big picture, general ideas, but rather, seemingly unimportant minutia. Her lectures almost put me to sleep, but if you read book well you should do OK
This is quite possible the worst teacher I have ever had. I implore you to not take her class. If you do, you will regret it. Her voice reminds me of nails scratching a blackboard.
Only had tests in this class on tough material. If you suck at test taking I suggest you take a different teacher. No other assignments
She does not care about her students and the tests get harder as you go.
she is very passive aggressive and rude to students. she reads from the book and some test questions she doesnt teach. she expects you to know the material before she teaches it and then take a pop quiz directly after lecture. NOT ADHD FRIENDLY. if youre a nursing student, you might take her 3 times like me. its doable but a LOT of work&no life.
Shes old fashioned and passionate about what she teaches. Shes not here to be your friend, shes here because she wants to teach, and she does just that. I heard the horror stories, and I was scared at first, but I have learned so much and its so clear to see that she just means business. Read the chapters and print the notes on Moodle.
Sheehan is intense, very rude, and incredibly old fashioned. All the bad things you've heard are all true. However, she teaches the material and you will leave with a good preparation for med/PT school. Don't have phone/computer out, that's 25 pts off ur test and writing on the test is 50 pts off. Just be quiet and you'll do fine
Sheehan is nice enough. She doesn't allow ANY kind of technology in her class, and you also need your own scantrons for the tests. Her lectures do get the information across, but it can be hard to follow sometimes as she loses her place and starts over sections. Tests are based on the lectures, so show up to class!
Sheehan is very very strict- if you don't come to class or read the textbook, you will not pass. if you put in the work she recommends, listen and take good notes, and spend at least an hour a day studying (i did 3-5 per day and i made a 97), you will do fine. she can be scary just keep your head down and DONT USE YOUR PHONE or write on the test
She is a total nut. Incredibly rude and does not care about her students. You will be busy reading or studying the day you start her class and it still will not be enough. Even with all of the material she provides you with, barely any of that is on the final tests. Please spare yourself your mental health and do not take her.
I was scared to take this class because of all the reviews but I finished her class with a 90. If you read the chapters before class and make flashcards it helps alot. Her tests are 100 questions but her class was not as bad as everyone made it seem.
If you want to study for hours just to fail an exam with questions that are never in the homework or lectures then she is the teach for you.
Be weary of this professor. She is disrespectful and is mean.
This professor is absolutely terrible at relating to her students. The options for anatomy are so limited so it is a shame that there is not a better option. Refers to the LAB when basing our understanding of material instead of explaining material for students. Needs work on communication with her students. Also, just a disrespectful professor.
Extremely difficult and disrespectful teacher. I ended up having to drop, because on every single test I took had over 50% of its material from things we never went over in class and were not in the book, connect, her notes, etc. I spent every day studying and could still not make more than a D on her test, avoid her classes at all costs.
Old fashioned and very lecture-heavy. Her tests were very difficult for me no matter how much I studied. Would not recommend taking this class.
Mrs. Sheehan's class isn't as hard as it is often made out to be. She may be old-fashioned, but you will actually learn a lot. The exams can be tricky, but there are plenty of bonus opportunities. Lectures are good, but you'll definitely need to study outside of class.
Old fashioned - yes Rude- yes Miserable person- yes Do NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She is one of the rudest people I've ever met. AVOID at all cost.
Dr Sheehan is the worst teacher I have ever had. We have 3 exams with 100 multiple choice questions. She talks during exams, interrupts herself to yell at students, and refuses to cooperate or answer emails. I studied for HOURS and got a 67 and 65 before dropping. Do Not take this class. I wish i had more words to describe how badly I hate her.
Terrible teacher, studied for tests for hours upon hours just to get a 65 at best. If you want to spend an hour and a half listening to her speak and then go home and spend the rest of your day doing it just for only 75% of that to be on the test, take her. If not, run.
One of the worst teachers I have had in my life. Very disrespectful to students and shames them. One example was when she ripped up another students test in their face because they wrote one circle on it. She made me and countless other students cry and is not accepting of new or different ideas than hers. Save your time and sanity. DONT TAKE HER!
Although she is a very smart person and has the capability to pass her knowledge on to the next generation, she doesn't want to. I took notes in class, on the textbook, her notes, homework, watched videos, and attended every lecture! She took down ALL of her notes before the final and optional cumulative exam due to the class's "poor effort". don't
While Sheehan gets a bad rap by most she us not awful. Show up to class and read the chapter before class. Study her lecture notes!! They helped me a ton. She can be rude sometimes but just get your work done, don't disrupt class, and know the lecture notes and you will pass.
I have never met a professor who has such little to no respect for her students. She has flat out no care what you think or feel, and she will make a rude remark about you where the whole class can hear without thinking twice. Keep your head up, and stay focused on her lectures because she will do quizzes.
Use her lecture notes, and read them before class; they can be found on safari. She is retiring in the spring btw. She is not much help outside of class. Very short temper (one minute nice the next shes telling you off). Study your butt off and don't take her words personal! I never studied in the textbook besides the questions in the back.
Get ready to study everything in the textbook. Test are all 100 questions. You get some extra points from the homework but its a very difficult class
I have never met a Professor that shows so little respect for their students, in addition to Vocal only lectures with written notes only online, she teaches way too quick to learn the material accurately. Being a Bio major I feel actively discouraged to continue my degree in the subject. Tests are too heavy for an Intro class, Stay away.
Don't be scared off by the reviews if you are a dedicated student. This class isn't "easy" simply because it requires some thought and studying. I truly believe those who get bad grades get them because they put in little to no effort.
terrible. rude. disrespectful. started the class with 100 or so people and now towards the end of the quarter there may be 30. embarrasses you for not reading the book before class. hours and hours were spent studying for her class just to get D's. If you really want to see your GPA tank, then take Sheehan :)
Does not have a lot of patience. Not very understanding or sympathetic. Difficult to communicate with. I enjoy anatomy, but she personally did not inspire my learning. Try and get a hold of her notes, I used those and they made my life so much easier. You can pass just fine if you put in the work and entirely ignore her.
I was dreading this class going into it because of the reviews, but Sheehan is a really good professor. This class will definitely challenge you, but man did I learn a lot. READ the chapter before class. SHOW up. ANSWER her quizzes in class. She'll will prob give extra credit if you show you are trying to learn. Be respectful pls and pay attention.
A lot of people say that she is a hard teacher, but it's just a hard class. She's somewhat traditional; be respectful and on time or she will say something about it. The lectures are based on the textbook, so if you read before class, you'll understand the material. Do what she tells you on the first day, and you'll make a decent grade.
Everyone in my major is waiting for her to retire. Her classes hinder your understanding, they are study halls; use the textbook. I did well in her class because I avoided her. She misspeaks often, and will yell at you for bathroom breaks. The textbook is online; electronics in class costs you test points. I paid for this class:( I wish you luck:(
The department will be better the day she retires. She belittles students and has little patience for errors. Some of the stuff she does should be reported to the department and is not okay.
Ms. Sheehan was the worst teacher I have come around at Louisiana Tech. She constantly belittles her students. Her exams continually have things that she does not teach or are lacked in the book. She is retiring, but this does not help me at all. I am happy for the classes that have to take anatomy behind me. They won't have to deal her.
Everyone whines about this teacher but honestly, if you do what she says and follow instructions, you'll be fine. This class requires a lot of time and effort if you want to pass. The tests are all 100 questions and rely on her notes for them in my opinion. Study hard, read chapters before lecture, and you'll be alright. Goodluck.
Good luck with this one. There's a reason they are pushing her out.
She needs to leave
Sheehan is not a respectful nor a nice person. She is very traditional in her way of lecturing, so be prepared to teach yourself. I personally am glad I got to take her before her retirement because if you study and do well on her tests, you obviously know the material well which prepares you. She does warn you to STUDY HARD. She doesn't bs
The most discouraging and hateful professor I have ever had. Definitely the worst professor I have had at Tech. She laughs at your failure.
Quite possibly the worst professor at Tech. I am grateful they are letting her go because she berates you for not knowing some of the questions she asks, refuses to allow you to take notes on a computer even though the textbook is online and puts things on the test that were not even gone over. She will make you contemplate dropping out of college.
