She doesn't care, has attitude galore, doesn't care, hates students, doesn't care... Did I mention she doesn't care?

she is a poor teacher for this course and she is also the one I see in mrc who is not a nice person.Anyways, if you want fail your english course take join her class

This proff is the WORST EVER! she does not give constructive criticism or even criticism at all. it is manditory to attend class and while your in class nothing is learned at all. i have learned nothing from this professor! If you are looking for a F, then take her your garenteeded that F. From all the english teachersihave hadsheisbyfartheworst

She is a really mean person. Doesn't care how many scores you lose in her course. All she wants is to humiliate you. can't teach either.

She is a horrible teacher. She's very rude, and definitely not understanding. I will never take a class with her ever again!

Horrible prof...better to jump off the bridge than to take the bridge. Totally unapproachable and downright rude. Her classes were always boring and she did seem to have the expertise to teach. Worst of all, she lied forced me to withdraw when I clearly could have passed this class and misinformed me about my actual grade.

Beyond awful prof! I love school and am an A student and this class made me want to never enter a class room again. I have had many difficult teachers and do not expect easy classes, but this woman was down right evil! She finds reasons to dock marks, even non existant reasons. She should not be a teacher!

WORST prof I have ever had. I am in my 4th year and had to take this first year english class as a requirement. I have a 4.0GPA and got C's on my essays. A lot of people got F's. She expects way too much for a first year english class. She is really rude too.

It is Deb's way or the hi-way. There is no marking for content, but only what your opinion should have been according to her own opinion on the topic and deducted marks wherever she could even if it was not even an error, just a stylistic choice for your own writing.

Probably the worst prof I've ever had at mount royal! She is rude, and calls you on the spot to have an answer.. even if you don't understand the material she will make you give her answers. I have a 4.0 GPA and her class was bringing it down soooo much! She's a very hard marker and is super anal about grammer. Dont take this class with her!

Worst prof ever. She doesn't make it clear as to what she expects and expects way too much, even if you're in first year. I'm doing so well in every other class and I've never gotten higher than C+ in her class. I don't recommend her.

Absolute worse Professor I ever had. So rude and condescending, doesn't let you express your own opinion. Doesn't agree with anyone, doesn't care about students at all. Gives everyone a D and doesn't explain why!!!

Took this class and more than half dropped out. It's an entry level writing class and she grades well above that. She's also clear that she won't give you her time as it's too valuable. Your opinion is asked for but then shot down. She's made it clear that she rarely gives anyone higher than a C. However, the majority received a D. Don't do it!

Last week I had to drop this class. This was bringing my average DOWN. No matter how hard you try, or what you learn, it's never enough. She's not consistent with her expectations, very moody and opinionated. Wasn't willing to discuss assignments except as a group. I'm an A student and received D's. Pick another prof. So frustrating.

Not a good professor at all, would not recommend her at all to anyone

Gives bad feedback. She goes over all marked essays once and that is in class. She pulls sentences out from everyones' essays and makes a rude comment about it. She is definitely not a good prof. I dropped her course lost the money paid for the course. A semester later, I took the same class with Jane Drover passed the course with 85.

Grading criteria are completely different than what is being taught. Marking is based entirely on spelling every word correctly as opposed to the strength of your ideas or your ability to make a persuasive argument. Make sure you argue things she agrees with or you will receive a poor grade. She knows about lots of stories, I guess...

She seemed like she definitely knew what she was talking about, and was funny at times. But overall she seemed uninterested in her students. She was very belittling at times , especially to those who weren't as smart as her.... so the majority. I would highly recommend taking this class with anyone else. Very sarcastic and should not be teaching

Do not take this course with Deb. She is a living nightmare. My first year in university, and Deb made it HELL. I would not recommend Deb as a professor to my worst enemy. She is the hardest marker I've ever had, and it is completely unnecessarily. She is condescending (Press command F and search this word and you will find It numerous times)

So here's where this class will finally pay off because I will finally be able to critically write about the abomination of this teachers so called skill to develop the young up and coming minds of this university. Students are forced to assimilate to the revolting likes of this teacher in order to merely pass. Avoid this teacher like the plague !!

I was an English major and receiving all A's in my other English courses. It was shocking to receive consistent D's in her class. I wanted to do my research project on racial profiling in which she proceeded to tell me that I couldn't do that topic because she claims racial profiling doesn't exist. So I dropped the class and changed degree.

I have done really great in all my classes (90+). This is my first year and Deb made it a living hell for me. I have tried my hardest like I always do, but she just gives out D's. She marks way to hard and doesn't help prepare us for our essays. I am devastated and it is clear that she has favorites in the class. DO NOT take this class with her.

If you weren't good at writing before this class you're not learning much here! Tough grader and is more lenient with people who participate more in class. Good luck to anyone stuck with her.

I have disliked about two people in my life and Deb has definitely made that list. Every time we received an assignment I found myself confused and not understanding the criteria as much as I wanted to. She made me feel stupid in her class and did not project a welcoming vibe, I never once felt comfortable. If possible pick a different teacher.

Unrealistic marking even though it is a first year gned class. This class left me feeling stupid and she gives F's when you know you don't deserve the mark. Apparently, skipping a few classes also results in an F in participation. Just do yourself a favour and switch prof's.

This class seems like it would be helpful in an academic setting. It is not. Deb spends more time complaining to the class and talking down to students than she does teaching the content. She marks at a fourth year english degree level and not on a first year gned degree level. If you don't know everything there is to know going in, good luck.

This is an intro class and she marks as if it is an advanced writing class. Worst teacher ever.

Took this course in my first year. I am an A student and now that I'm in my fourth year, I still consider this one of the most difficult courses I've taken. Majority of the class ended up with C's. Save your confidence and GPA - would not recommend taking this course.

Worst Prof or teacher that I've ever had. Not very helpful and barely lets you talk to her during office hours. Rips students apart in front of the whole class if she doesn't like your idea or opinion. If you need to take GNED 1401 take it with any other prof.

Awful and rude

JUST RUN AWAY. Wasted my hard earned money on this class. I have done 4 years of university, worked full time, volunteered, and gotten great grades. The total opposite in this class: Unfair marking, inconsistent quizzes, and way too high expectations for a first year course. Don't expect to get above C- unless you are a paid writer.

She's the toughest grader I've ever seen, and will destory your soul with her comments. But can be slightly helpful if she likes you. Overall worst college class I've ever taken.

I tried SO HARD in this class but my work was never enough. She's too hard of a grader. I have done great in all of my classes this semester and this class what the class I spent ALL of my time on but I always got bad grades. The last paper I did I thought was amazing but apparently, she thought otherwise

awful prof! i would never ever ever take a class from her again. all of the papers i wrote for her i got c's on and in every other class i've had to write papers the lowest mark i got was B+. her feedback also never made sense. DO NOT TAKE GNED 1401. she also said if we were in person no laptops would be allowed, only pen and paper.

Avoid this professor at all costs. Deb is terrible with making sure her students are successful, which is ironic for being a professor for a Writing for Academic Success class. She will not help you with your work but will belittle your writing as much as possible. If you like getting all your negatives with no feedback, you should take Debs class

Deb's class is bland and uninteresting. For a first-year course, she is insane with grading and has unrealistic expectations of all her students. If she doesn't like your opinion you will know by your grade. Her grading is extremely inconsistent. I have gotten from A's to D's in this class despite following all requirements. You never know what kind of mark youre going to get on your assignments. Switched between As to Ds even if your writing improves over the semester. Do not take this class if you want to keep your GPA up.

Do not take this Prof at all cause, class is super boring and she goes off track most of the time. You are only allowed 3 sick days but she tells you that at the end of the semester.

This class is a drag. She is poor at articulating herself and marks for participation when the purpose of the class is learning to write academic papers. If you plan on taking this class while enrolled full time in school I would think again, it was the heaviest course load I had all semester. It feels like high school at its worst.

Deb is the most unfair grader, she does not acknowledge any other opinions, and when I asked for clarification on my grade, she was rude and unwilling to provide useful feedback. Do not take this class unless you want to feel degraded, belittled and ultimately fail the course.
