I am taking her class right now and she is a great teacher. Very funny, and makes learning the info. interesting. I take a six hour saturday class and i actually look forward to it. She breaks it up with fun activities. All around great teacher would recommend!

Took her human development class. she is very funny and breaks lectures up with personal stories that are funny and quirky but relate to subject matter. very helpful just take notes study read them a few times and you will pass tests only a few real assignments and most are fun and involve children. she is starting to use blackboard

Debbie is the coolest teacher I've had! Her class is extremely fun, we always have class discussions, and not much homework. On tests you get to use your notes and textbook. Very easy and fun class! Fun class !! I didnt like my first midterm score of a C but through the other assignments and better tests scores I achieved an A. You really dont need the book but the course pack is essential.Her class isnt all lecture as she shows plenty of utube videos. Great class!!

All her tests ( about 3 during the semester) are solely on the powerpoints, so her course packet is necessary. She makes the class fun and interesting. Great personality. What a fun teacher! She makes classes easy and entertaining, she cares about students and connects on a personal level, and she is just all around great. Tests are easy, assignments are minimal, and you learn a LOT. Do NOT buy the book, it is not necessary. I am taking all of the classes she offers, because honestly I cannot recommend her enough.

Class was very easy, but super boring. She couldn't answer most student's questions, even though she asks multiple times if anyone has any. When they do, she answers with something vague and unreliable. If you are truly interested in HD, take Janet Quinlan! If you just want to pass a class, take Eastman. Most likely you wont learn much, but easy A

SUPER BORING CLASS! The only thing I enjoyed was all the informing videos. Hearing Ms. Eastman explain the concepts was painful. She is very nice, but not a great instructor. Interrupted students that she did not like. Easy A, but be prepared to be bored. Couldn't explain correctly the most simple terms in Human Development.

I LOVE her! she is the sweetest lady i've ever met. She's a great teacher and her hands on learning is very helpful. My only suggestion is to not buy the book. I took two of her classes HD1 and HD9 and i did not buy the book either time and I got an A both times. Just make sure you show up for class

She's awesome!! This is a fast paced class. You don't always go into detail on the subjects covered because of all the materials you go through. She makes it fun and interesting. She actually teaches you rather than just talking at you. She made it fun and interesting.

LOVE her! Ive taken her twice now & by far the best instructor Ive had at Sierra. I didnt even bother to buy the book. 2 tests straight from the lecture. There are a few essays, but they're easy & she grades fairly. One group project with partner evaluation if you get stuck with lousy group members. Attend class! Sweet, approachable, & organized!

Debbie is very approachable and just a kind person in general. Her lectures correlate to what you must know for the exams and the exams are all multiple choice. The book is not required and I did not use it once. I recommend all of those that dream of working in the field of education to take Ms. Eastman for human development.

Debbie Eastman easily joins the ranks of my favorite teachers at Sierra College! Her homework load is super light and mainly consists of 3 super easy papers that you have to turn in. You don't have to take notes because she hands them out in slide form. And to top all that, she is probably the most cool and unique teacher I've ever had. Take her!

Very good teacher that's very friendly and funny. We used the course packet made by her for the course (cost about $6), but not the book. Always aced the tests with minimal studying. She taught very well, we didn't quiet finish the course but we still learned quite a bit, and she's very willing to answer questions, or just talk like a friend.

Debbie is an amazing teacher. Her HDEV5 class can be very intimidating at first but it is so much fun! There is one big group project, two activities at a preschool, and a portfolio. She is very understanding and helpful. Class is mandatory. Easy class but you have to put in some work. I highly recommend taking her!

Gives many important life lessons that will really help you out in the real world. Attendance is mandatory (in-class worksheet every day), 3 easy exams (right off study guide). Teacher Debbie was great. I took her Online Hybrid class. I was not a fan of having to tune into lectures to get my notes, that was my own fault though. Her lectures are clear and informative. She gives study guides with exactly what's on the test and she is hilarious! I'm bummed I didn't take her on campus, because the class seemed like fun!

This was the best class I had last semester. Everything she did was tied into both the stories she shared (which were hilarious and featured her son) and the required course pack. There were three tests and two papers, all of which were pretty easy so long as you attended class and paid attention to the powerpoints (included in the course pack).

She is my favorite teacher I had taken at Sierra. She is so funny and personable. There are 3 tests that are easy if you do the study guide and show up to class. There are small assignments that are due sporadically throughout the semester that can make your grade go from a B to an A. And 2 small 2 page papers. I would take her again and recommend.

She's an amazing teacher, so passionate. I really got to know her this semester and she loves students who actively participate. She is so funny and makes lectures fun. The online 8 week summer session was challenging and the tests were by no means easy but if you work hard you can do well. Would absolutely take her again.

Teacher Debbie was awesome. I actually learned something in her online summer class which is always a bonus. Read the book, study her powerpoint lectures and you will ace her midterm like (3) tests. Homework consists of watching video clips, reading book and powerpoints, answering questions. Pretty laid back and easy especially for an 8 week class.

Her lectures are extremely interesting and she exudes the passion she has for her field of study. The class is an easy A, and she is hilarious!

Wonderful teacher! I took Human Dev. online, there were 3 tests all year. The final was not cumulative. We did DB's and assignments here and there that usually were associated with a video. Not too much homework, shes super nice and gave really great feedback. I would take her again if I get another chance, wonderful teacher with a big heart!

Con: Teacher Debbie has power point lectures ( but they are downloadable and can be saved to a computer for quick reference). Pro: Great lectures and they are funny and include videos. She is a great professor. I loved her online class and from her lectures I would love to take her on-campus classes.

Debbie IS AN AMAZING TEACHER. I absolutely adore her and she made the class very enjoyable. The semester with her went by way to fast. Be prepared to take a lot of notes (she has outlines for it already to make it easy) and just make sure you listen and participate! You'll have homework on canvas but it's a breeze!

Teacher Debbie responds quickly to e-mails and clearly tells you what you did right or wrong on assignments. Her lectures are HILARIOUSLY engaging, and her DB's are fun to write and be a part of. Her lovely personality shines through the online class. Her exams can be TRICKY, so take it slowly and read through the entire question.

Professor Eastman is an incredibly passionate educator. She is consistent with the assignments she puts out and not confusing whatsoever. Her lectures are hilarious and relatable, as she uses real life examples we've all had to make sure her students retain information. Everyone should take this class to understand more about "human development!"

Teacher Debbie is great. Lots & lots of reading. My estimation of time spent: 70% reading text & lectures, 10% discussion board, 10% exams, and 10% other assignments. Not a ton of points available so you really can't be missing assignments. Online, tests were tough (3 total) but were open book & note. Super friendly and upbeat!

Prof Debbie was really nice throughout the semester. :) I thought her online class was really easy (if you have a lot of time for reading) but not so easy you won't learn anything and she's a really easy grader. She also is really knowledgable in her field which is nice considering some teachers aren't.

BEST TEACHER!! Teacher Debbie's class is the easiest, no-pressure course I've taken--Really cares about her students, so passionate about teaching. Hilarious, very animated--makes it easy to reach out for questions/just to talk about anything. I took her spring 2020, so part in-person & part online. I loved her lectures & examples to help understand the content. She's snarky & funny & cares SO much about her students plus it's a super interesting class. My only critique is that quizzes were given the week after the topic to give students 2 wks to study, but then I'd struggle to remember.

Her lectures are fill in the blanks but her lectures are interesting. Shes funny, really likes to get to know her students. She gives in real life examples shes experienced. I believe you will do better with her if you took her in person.

Professor Debbie is an amazing teacher. Very prompt in grading and even through I took the class over Summer she was very understanding that this was a class twice the normal speed and adjusted accordingly. She is very nice and sends encouraging emails every week reminding you that you've got this and reminders if you haven't turned in something.

Some of the quiz material was in the lectures but if you are just looking for a B you don't need to watch the lectures and can read the slides. Quizzes were easy and relatable to the topic. If you don't agree with the answer you can rebuttal for points.

Debbie is a great teacher. If you just come to class and put in any kind of effort you'll get a decent grade. She also provides the textbook for free. She's super sweet and understanding, will extend deadlines if you simply ask. The lectures themselves are pretty informative, and her classes are generally chill. Would definitely take again :)

It takes longer to decipher what she's asking than to answer the questions. Every other word is capitalized. She's more fit to teach 1st graders. I wouldn't take her again, but very nice person.

Absolutely loved her! All we had were lectures and discussion boards each week and occasional quizzes that were open note. The discussion boards were from previous week material so if you didn't do that weeks material you could still answer before Wednesday deadline. On top of that her videos were very interesting and she incorporated funny jokes.

It is so hard to be bored during Teacher Debbie's lectures because she is so funny. She very much likes to share a lot of things from her personal life, but it adds a lot to the class so it is good. The workload is easy because she gives you like 2 weeks at a time to complete a quiz. A few assignments here and there but again, not bad.

Teacher Debbie will for sure be your favorite professor by the end of the class. She really listens to her students and has an easily accessible Canvas setup. The notes ACTUALLY help for tests and there aren't trick questions. She's fair and will alter scores if the majority of students miss a question. She makes the class interactive and fun.
