very helpful professor. will explain anything you don't understand and is very helpful. she isn't very generous as far as a curve, but prepares you very well for the exam. would recommend!!!

Very tough grader, but I still got a B and never opened the book. Only take her if you are able to set aside your beliefs for one semester and do everything exactly her way.

She isn't the most interesting teacher, but the subject isn't that interesting. She does give opportunities for extra credit which is nice if you completely bomb a test. The group project sucks.

Everyone must work hard in this class, as it accurately reflects the real business world. Most students are NOT good writers and she really gets everyone in shape. Time to grow up!

This class is so hard, but it's because of department requirements. From what I've heard, she is the best at preparing students for the CLUE test, which every IS 301 class has to take. She does grade too hard though. I would recommend her because she makes everyone better writers.

This is a hard class. She is one of the better teachers. She really prepares you for the CLUE test, which you need an 80% to get higher than a C in the class. Her exams aren't hard. Just read and follow her study guide. I would recommend taking her. The only complaint I have is that the group project really sucks. Try to get into a reliable group.

Professor McElroy is extremely helpful and will take the time to help you if you ask her. There is a lot of work in this class and McElroy is a tough grader, but this is a big help and you will improve your business comm skills. A really nice lady that really wants to help each student improve. If you have to take this class take her.

This is a hard class because of department requirements. If she offers extra credit, which she usually does, DO IT! It will make a difference. I got a "B" in the class becaue of the extra credit. She is very fair and helpful. Take her!

A fair and straight forward teacher. The oral presentations and group project wasn't too bad because she provides very clear and concise instructions. Hard but fair grader. Go to class adn check beachboard often because she will post practice tests for CLUE.

If you do all the work and pass the clue easy B, if you don't pass the clue really easy C.

1 midterm and 1 final (cummulative). 1 Clue test. 2 individual presentations and 1 group project with presentation. There are also a lot of little written assignments. She offers extra credit. Must pass CLUE with 80% to get B in course. Attendance mandatory. Helpful teacher but is very strict with her grading. Take her.

This class requires a lot of your time. She is very clear on what she wants from you. To get a good grade: do practice CLUE exams online, do all of written assignments, read all chpts for exams, practice your oral presentations, and put 100% effort into the group project. It is worth a lot. She doesn't curve so try to get all your points.

This teacher is very clear on what she expects from homework, projects, and presentations. If you follow her instructions and are reasonably proficient at using the English language, you will do well in this class. For the mid term and final there's no need to study the book, just do the practice quizzes online.

Do you know how to follow directions? If you answered yes, than this class and teacher are so easy and you will learn a lot. On the homework assignments, you have to not follow directions to lose points. If you answered no, than you are the whining little B**CHs on here that cant follow directions and shouldn't be going to college

Chill class, easy teacher

This class was pretty easy. We used the book everytime there was class and the exam are super easy. The homeworks and the four exams are straight from the book which you just have to follow direction out of. That mean you don't even have to show up to class because she posts everytime on beachboard. TAKE HER CLASS!

It is a simple class due to its simple material. The book is an essential component of the class. Attendance is not mandatory, I didn't go to class for month and I still passed. But there's a catch, you must learn how to navigate your personal FTP site efficiently and complete her weekly assignments. She does snap, but only if you really mess up.

Just follow the directions and you will do fine. She is strict but fair. Gives lots of feedback. You will learn a lot and also get help with your resume.

This class covers alot of material. Don't take it if you have a lot of other stuff going on. A lot of work - but I started using stuff at work as soon as I started the class. Teachers helps a lot with CLUE. Take the practice tests online and u will pass.

She's a good teacher. There is lots of work since its basically a business English class. But if you do all the work and study the CLUE material you should do just fine.

This class IS a lot of work like everyone else said. IF you do the work, you will learn a lot too. The teacher will help you if you ask questions. IF you do not have the time, don't take this class - you will stress. She is pretty clear on what you need to do to pass.

She is nice, but can be a little harsh and doesn't smile often. The class is not too hard, just a lot of busy work and an extreme amount of directions to follow (there is no room for creativity). She grades pretty tough and can be anal about things.

She follows the book. You will learn a lot. I use everything that was taught in this class. Tough grader, but if you do the work, you will do fine. Most of the whiners put everything off, come to class late, and are not ready for the real business world. Plus, the teacher lets you FIRE them from the group. No slackers here.

This class was really easy to pass. The assigments only took 20 minutes per week and here directions were really easy to do the assigments. If you have to take IS 223 i would denfinately take her as a teacher. Easy A!

Nice teacher. Seemed to grade easy on assignments as long as you follow directions. Like others said, the class itself just has a lot of busy work. She has two midterms that come straight from the book. In fact I never even read the book, just studied off her outlines. Overall, easy class, just keeps you busy.

Took the online course, which is very very easy. Assignments are due every week. Also a few exams during the semester, but are really easy. Passed this class with an A/Credit. The only thing I struggled with was the Access assignments, but still passed the class easily. Professor responds quickly to emails and is very helpful.

She is a tough grader. I do grade A level work easy but would always get low scores on assignments. There are 3 speeches and she grade you on every little thing you do. She is nice, but with the amount of work, tough grading and a 92% and higher to get an A, its a tough class.

really easy. nice, helpful. reasonable hw assignments. took the online class with assignments due every week. only bad thing is the site used in this class only works on windows, so I couldnt do the hw on my mac, had to go to computer lab. must buy NEW book for code, VERY EXPENSIVE $130+

Just got help on my resume. This lady knows what she is talking about. When I took the class I thought she was tough. Now I understand. You will learn a lot from her.

Woman knows subject matter well. CLUE exams are easy; just study the practice stuff. lectures are boring; Test quest. are from the book, so get it. Biggest annoyance - the work required for the "formal report" is ridiculous. WAY too much work and a lot is reduntant. IN short - She's OK.

Two individual presentations and a group presentation and paper. Get with a good group. Two CLUE tests that count. They are not that hard, but study for them. One midterm and a final, study for those too. Easy grader. She is an okay teacher. Kind of boring.

Boring class, you have to go, and she's a really hard grader. You have to get a 92% to get an A, so my 91% didn't cut it. and an 82 is a C...etc. Group project is HUGE and ridiculous, I basically did my whole group's project because they were losers and she gave us all the same score, even after I told her that in the evaluation...lowering my GPA.

So boring, but with A LOT of hard work I finished in 6 weeks. Get the book online it makes it easier. Also if you have a Mac (like I do) your probably going to have to do EVERYTHING at the CBA computer lab, unless they fix it.

This class had A LOT of homework and after all that hard work it's only offered as a credit/no credit class! I never saw the professor because it's only offered online. The class was boring but I made it through it.

This is a very time-consuming class. You need 92% for an A so every points count. I was lucky to have an excellent team. Choose a good team, thinking any test is a final exam and try your best. It's easier to get high scores for multiple choice tests than presentations and writing assignment. So try to collect every point that you can.

A lot of work, but I learned a lot. Most of everything covered I am using at work and in other classes. The group project seems hard, but just follow the suggestions. It is "simple" if you listen to what you need to do in order to do well.

Great class b/c it is online. No lectures - you just have to do the work. Prof. sends reminders and answers emails pretty quickly. I learned stuff even though I thought I knew word and powerpoint.

Easy class to pass. I have a mac and went to the lab on Friday. Got done in first half of semester. I had a friend who put everything off, and still passed. Better to just get done so you can work on other classes.

This is a very time consuming class. I asked a lot of questions and got a lot of feedback. So I did well. My teammates did not care that much so I worked harder on the group project. You have to earn your grade in this class. Since an A is a 92 percent, every point counts. Overall I liked the class because the slackers to not get the same grade.

This class is not very hard, but there are a lot of things to do. She is not easy grader, but she knows if you work hard. Helpful, and fair teacher. Just follow her direction, and work hard to get A. Luck to have good group members for the presentation.

I am taking this class right now. This prof is nothing like what is written. She is helpful and knows what she is talking about. I am already using what we learned. It is a lot of work, but you have to work to learn! Other comments sound like the lazy slackers which she does not tolerate.

I took this class in spring 12. but the Prof. just helped me with my resume and cover letter. Her comments were most helpful - she spent several hours with me. Currently working an internship and using EVERYTHING I learned in this class. The class is very difficult, but if you work hard you will learn a lot. Best class I took at CSULB.

Difficult class.GEM counts 20% so study for this. Midterm, final, online quizzes, written papers, presentations, AND group project. Stay on top of everything and you will be OK. Slack and you will pay the price. Tough grader but you will learn. For me I thought it was worth the effort. She explains everything and is willing to help if you ask.

1st online class I took. Thought is would be harder than it was. Homework due every week. You have to keep up to date. Labs provided with a GA. I got stuck and went in for help a few times. The prof reminds you constantly what is due. I was surprised that I learned a lot from the homework. Easy class to pass.

Required class but it is nice that it is online - no required attendance at lecture. Homework every week. If you have a Mac you will need to use a PC. I just went to the lab and did the work. Make sure you get into a schedule and get the work done otherwise you will struggle to get caught up. If you do the weekly assignments, easy class to pass.

Just finished the summer session. Very hard class to take in six weeks. Professor is very clear on what needs to be done. Hard grader but gives a lot of feedback. Follow the instructions, keep on schedule, pick a good team, and study for GEM.

I don't think Ms. McElroy should be teaching IS301. She wants to put students in her box, you can't get creative or have your own say. In the real world, people are different and have different ideas. To get an A in her class, I had to write about what she wanted me to write about. I'd rather take the B. Thanks.

This was the hardest class I have taken at CSULB, but I learned the most in this class. Everything we did is useful. I am a much better at presenting, and I also think my writing has improved. This class is a lot of work,do not expect an easy A. The professor is very helpful and is fair. She does not like slackers, which I think is great.

First online class. Thought it would be easy, BUT I was surprised at how much I learned. Easy class if you stay on schedule. She reminds you every week about asignments. Answers emails quickly. There is a lab with a GA for help. Go to the Access labs with the profs. - easiest way to pass Access!

Very difficult class, but she does alot to help you with GEM(which is 20 percent of your grade-same for all sections of IS301). Very critical (but helpful) comments, but these do not reflect the grade you get. If you want to learn alot she does her best to help you improve your business writing and presenting. If you want an easy class-avoid her.

Learned a lot from her. She was difficult to understand in the beginning but wasn't overwhelming. Group project is a huge project and need to choose your team members very carefully. I would recommend her for IS301
