Best professor in sociology
she wasn't helpful @ all- i felt like i didn't learn anything in the class..and i got a 3.0- the tests were dumb and presentations were pointless, no one in the class knew what she wanted and she confused us all w/ the grades and tests...i just didn't like this class...
took this over the net, so maybe not fair for me to evaluate her...but i hated this class and she did a horrible job of explaining what she wanted done, then gave you a bad grade when you did it wrong. even if you did it right, she refused to give you a pe
I took Soc. Psych with her and it was the worst class ever. I hated it. She was always lost and her tests were horrible. She never answered questions and was overall rude.
Extremely rude tendencies, class was painfully boring, and every day was exactly the same: Deb would read us her notes that she'd written from the chapter, and we'd copy them down. Never any stories, small talk, or anything to even try to be interesting.
I am very intrigued by gender issues, so my teacher helped me to sharpen my skills and research abilities which I did not have before. Debs encouraged me so much that now I am majoring in women's studies in an university in CA. She also gave me good recommendation.
Dr. Chakrabarti knows how to relate sociology to daily life. She seems to have a passion for sociology that nothing else ever matters to her other than what she teaches. It takes a lot of courage to take freshman out of high school and get them interested in social issues, a job, I must say she is professional at.
I took her hybrid Soc 101 class, definitely would not recommend her to anybody. When we saw her face to face nothing was clear, we were unsure of exactly what she wanted. She certainly didn't make it easy to keep up.
Well liked, highly respected, smart and intelligent professor!!
Debs has a personal passion about sociology. She relates the subject-matter to everyday existence in a professional, skillful, interesting way. I would give this teacher A++ no problem.
Her online soc 101 class is the worst I have ever taken. We had our first test 45 question in 30 minutes over 10 chapters. She is very critical in her critic of our discussions. I would NOT recommend her online class.
She doesn't have to much home work and she is really bad at keeping up on things so that made the class easy but then i took the mid term and failed. I have a 3.5 gpa so i don't understand. she gives you 35 min to answer 45 questions. i like to think about the questions maybe just a little... she makes her tests way to hard
I would have to say she is very hard. Not in that you have alot of homework hard. I actually would have liked it if she had essay tests every week. However she only had 2 tests and 2 discussions which were very hard. The tests are hard to pass. She doesn't give any leway. Her class was just ok. I would have liked her to teach more.
Her tests are long and hard with little time. She has almost no homework so if you are bad at tests you WILL fail this class. DONT TAKE HER CLASS
If you pay attention, Deb's class is great, if you don't pay attention, you are ruining it. She is the most helpful, motivating character I have met besides a few of my other professors at WSU. You got to be able to connect to her and let her connect with you in comfortable fashion. Cheers Debs!
Excellent teacher and helpful. I am doing good in her class because I pay attention and take notes in class. I recommend her for Soc. 101 in class courses.
I agree, she is a good, professional teacher. She is helpful as well. Take her class in Marriage and Family and you will do well.
Dr. Chakrabarti is a sound professor but she has way too high expectations out of her students; may be that is good or may be that is bad.It seems she is more fit for an university-level teaching although I do have to admit that I learned a lot out of her classes this spring.
I took the online summer class. If you don't have really good study habits, don't bother taking the class. The tests are very hard, with very specific questions, an no time to look anything up. Very little instructor interaction, so you determine what you learn. Unexpectedly difficult for a 101 class. TAKE DETAILED NOTES, names, ideas, theories etc
She is a very fair instructor. Her explanations are good, she does a good job in detailing her arguments with good researches and she also grades on a curve. The curved grades benefited everyone in the class. Although everyone expected not to do that well, students ended up doing generally very well in this class and learned a whole bunch.
Prior to taking this class, online, I looked at how this professor was rated through this website. The reviews stated that it was a difficult class with difficult tests. I took it anyways because I have always done well in school. I was lucky to pass with the grade I did!! This class is tough, watch out!!
Dr. Debs did a very good job teaching us the basics of Sociology and social life. Her global approach to social issues is very helpful. Her lectures are inspiring although her exams are a little hard. I encourage students to take her class and experience her scholarship in teaching sociology. Wish everyone the very best!
She is an amazing, awesome professor. She is extremely helpful as well.
Her Gender Studies class is the best one I have taken at CBC yet. She is clear, thorough, detailed, meticulous and very passionate about this subject. Taking her Intro. to Sociology class prior to taking the Gender class makes it a lot easier for students to cope with the expectations of this class. She makes students work very hard.
I really liked this teacher for my introduction to sociology class. The lecture materials were very interesting and current. There were some informative films shown alongwith some gorup projects and although, the class was a requirement, I took interest in the class for what it was.
I took this class on-line. It was NOT a 100 level class. I had a friend who has a Major in soc and he said that this class was beyond a 100 level class. She also had unreal expectations on the tests and was always changing things at last minute. I ended up dropping it and taking it from Kerzner, who is not easy, and recieved a B in the class.
I have to be honest I took many classes with Dr. Chakrabaty like Soc, Soc. Psych 201 but without going into details I can say she is the most valuable teacher I have had. In all my classes with her we had group discussions with research work, tests and bonus points. She is very optimistic, sweet and she cares about the students.
Her tests are slightly difficult but they are designed in our best interests. She likes students to be competitive to perform the best in timed exams in the future, I think she is a great teacher!
She has highly interesting discussions on things that are part of our lives but we never critically think about. Her class has opened my eyes to critical thinking, research appreciation, scholarly debates as much as technical requirements in writing. She is also very quick responding to questions.
I took this class with her in the Fall and I was thoroughly pleased with it. Except for the fact that she was gone a few times, I got the most out of this class both in terms of knowledge gain and in terms of collaborative learning. She is so thorough that she knows the names of each student in the class which is pretty impressive!
i)Good professor with a good syllabus, ii)expressive with a strong vocabulary base, iii) pays attention to students mostly, iv) deadline-obsessed, v) very liberal, so traditional thinkers may have a problem. I strongly recoomend her classes as she is one of the teachers who is really good about fairness with grades.
She has moderate expectations but she always pushes me to do my best. She is also not ill-tempered like some of the other teachers I have met at the college. She has many interesting examples from around the world to explain her points in social sciences. I also recommend her class undoubtedly.
She is fun and entertaining. She will go beyond the book to drill concepts into your head. I also like her positive manner in the classroom, she knows how to grab everyones attention. She is also a pretty good grader.
She is definitely a great teacher. She is soft, artiulate, progressive and very helpful. I will consider taking more classes from her in the summer and fall this year!
Her class this quarter has been a pleasure! She has an engaging style which makes everyone in the class participate to the fullest possible extent. With full attendance and the bonus questions, she helped me out to pass the class with a good grade - she is by far the fairest teacher at the college.
Dr. Debs is a wonderful teacher and I did wonderfully well in her class!! She explains everything from the scratch to help understand basic stuff in Sociology and Social Psychology. I am fond of her personality, academic and professional style. Good Luck!
The best thing I like about this teacher is that she encourages participation from students. She does not pretend to be a 'know all', so when students bring up points in the class, she will open them up for discussion. This makes the class very interesting and healthy. She is good for all mature students who can work with her.
Sometimes she is a little hard with tough expectations but she compensates by grading well and allowing bonus questions on the exam or bonus assinments. I have seen students liking her and responding to her very well in the class. She is respectable, friendly and kind to every single person in the class
I feel that Debs is a very compassionate teacher. She is almost always available to answer questions for the online Soc class. If there is any urgent situation, she extends the timeline for exams. I feel comfortable this quarter in my classes with her. She does a great job!
A very fine teacher from my experiences with her online teaching. She answers questions promptly, gives thought-provoking discussions, cares about the students and is not afraid to share her views on a specific topic (although she is not the one to be graded). I would care to take more classes with Prof. Chakrabarti for my optional classes.
I took her class this past spring quarter. She used the book a lot but also gave us a list of essay questions on which the final exam was based. I have to say that she is an excellent grader with detauled feedback, comments and suggestions for better papers and discussions. She even helped me with a terrific recommendation letter, so she is great.
Online course was an easy class. It lacks communication and the way site was laid out was unfocused. Have done many other on-line and this was by far the most cumbersome. Needs improvement in relaying information with simpler, not so scattered direction. (put the information in one area of the web site not all over it)
Didn't have interest in Sociology before this class but the Race and the Health/Aging discussion opened my eyes to the ongoing reality of social affairs in the country and elsewhere. Debs responses are faster than lightning but other times she is slow when she is grading. May be she can give more discussions. Everything said and done a good class.
This was not a class I was looking roward to. I really enjoyed it and found it very relevant to life. I took it online and found her to be extrememly helpful and prompt with regards to questions and such.
She is just a great teacher, period. Take her and enjoy! She is thorough, explains everything well, grades real well!
She is crystal clear and it is indeed my world. Learning Sociology benefits all of us as we learn the contexts for human behavior. She is a great teacher.
Debs makes the subject matter fun and interesting... I actually liked going to class. Overall it has been one of my favorite classes at CBC
Debs lectures and discussions are so well prepared that if I don't show up in class for even a day, I regret. She is the best instructor so far, definitely worth my time and money
Great teacher! Thanks Debs! I had a wonderful time learning about different cultures!! This class is hard work (as it is not a 100 class) but well worth the effort put in! I loved going to class, and always felt welcome to speak up, she made a very friendly learning environment!
Debs was an awesome teacher! I learned a lot from her class and actually looked forward to attending (I would skip every other class and just go to soc on some days)! She encouraged intelligent class lectures, actually made it fun and interesting to learn. If anyone had a question she would answer it in different ways until they understood it!
I would have liked it more if she chose to punish or discipline the chatter boxes in the classroom who were disrespectful. I give Debs all the credit for teaching well but she should have zero tolerance policy for distraction like it says on her syllabus.
I felt that Dr. Chakrabarti was exremely knowledgable and interested in the subject. She brought in unique documents to the class that were thought provoking and useful. Furthermore, the assingments were relevant and sometimes even fun. I would reccomend the gender class to anyone who wants to gain a broader scope of knowledge about gender globa
Her concerns for students is phenomenal. She is very smart and thoughtful and introduces good topics in class for discussions. I recommend taking all sociology classes with dr. Chakrabarti.
Great teacher, interesting class. Totally take this class!
Debs is laid back but does have great expectations from her students. She covers the book but adds a lot more to her lectures and makes them interesting. I aced this class and recommend it to everyone who needs a Soc. class. I don't think you will ever have to regret this one.
Do not take her class! She was a horrible teacher! Her lectures are pointless but she makes attendance mandatory. She cancels class way too often cause she's "sick". Make sure you study the sample quizzes! The group presentation is super easy! If you want to learn, don't take her class!
Debs is way too "cool". She is very knowledgeable and grades in a fair, liberal manner. She is willing to walk the extra miles to make everyone successful in the class - her level of patience is high and she is always encouraging, comes to class everyday with a big smile. I did not have interest in Soc. but now I really like it cuz of her.
The best thing I liked about Dr. Chakrabarti is that she is detailed and meticulous. On the tests, sometimes, she is tricky but she makes up by allowing special projects. "Information is not knowledge" she keeps repeating making sure she has suitable examples and analyses for all the substantive points covered in the class. Enjoyed this class!
This was an online class. Dr. Chakrabarti was very clear with her instructions and timely in her responses to email. Although there was a lot of reading, the tests were very fair. I would highly recommend this class.
Took it as an online course win quarter.Tests are fair.Beware even if you do good on the exams ( >90%) the best you can hope for is an average grade due to the silly grading system.Which will kill your gpa.
Debs had a lot of good information to present. Her openess made the class a better experience. But it was hard to understand her at times and somethings she said we're confusing and clarification was never offered.
Took this course online.Professor is very courteous and professional, everything is streamlined and clear. She is so helpful, and really wants her students to succeed.Mind the deadlines, read the book and you will do fine.
Excellent Prof. with good teaching skills. She goes a little fast sometimes, so you can stop her to ask quetions. Makes the class very interesting with current affairs discussions. I got quite a lot out of this class, would recommend it to someone who needs a Soc. class for interest or transfer.
Debs is an an exellect Professor. She is very professional, clear in her instructions, very open minded and outgoing. Her teaching style is very easy to adapt too. She's most def one of the best Prof, CBC has.
She is very smart. Her tests are fair, tests you on her lecture materials as well. Make sure you do the sample tests well. She shows great concern for students and treats everyone nice and fair.
Great professor. Made me wanna know what was goin to happen next.
She is a great professor. She is easy to understand and is passionate about the subject. If you come to class, pay attention, and do the sample test you should do well.
VERY VERY easy class. It was online. She doesn't post instructions very often at all and doesn't respond to e-mails. She has 4 tests, including the final and a long discussion. That is it. Thats the class. Very easy, but if you want help, not the teacher for you.
Class notes are crisp and clean -> Very good guideline for what to study on test.Online Class- You will get warnings before tests are due.Super Easy to get a good grade.Just read the text for 2 hours/day.Tests are plain Vanilla, no tricky or twisted or convoluted question.Teacher loves using email to communicate. Is open to your viewpoint and listen
Loved her! She was so intriguing in everything she had to say
I really enjoyed her. She made it more interesting for me. As long as you take notes and go over them the tests are very easy. She's a fun teacher :)
Debs is the most amazing teacher of social psychology! she is fun and interactive! Please take her class!!!!
Best prof I've ever had! her classes are so interesting and she is super fair in treating students and makes sure that everyone is caught up before moving on. Great discussions that I use today in my life a year later. Took another class with her and continued to love her even more!
I love Debs! She's super nice and loves class discussions. As long as you read the chapter you're fine. It isn't that hard either! I learned a lot by taking this class. I would recommend taking her for soc 101 if you want a good experience and a good grade! :)
Easy class to pass, if you read the chapters and participate in class you are sure to pass. She was very fair and made the work load light.
Super good teacher. Getting a 3.7 out of this class was not hard. You had to do your readings every day and keep up on group work. She is fun, easy-going and updated on current happenings. She is, by my rating, the fairest Prof. on campus. I liked her a lot.
I had Race and Ethnicity class with her got a 3.8. Very interesting topics and relate-able to life so it's easy to learn. There are a couple of reseach projects that require effort. But Debs is very willing to offer insight on ideas ect. There peer grading and shes very fair at grading as well...just do keep up with your weekly readings!!!
I took Gender Studies with Professor Chakrabarti, which is a Sociology Class (160), and I learned a lot. In addition, I really enjoyed the class & feedback the professor provided was extremely helpful. This is an excellent course with an amazing instructor!
Took her course online and there course was well outlined and workload was fair. Professor communicated all deadlines and was very understanding.
Very interesting great class, be prepared for a big group project, reading the text, and taking good notes.
This class was interestingly led. You read 4 chapters then a take a test: which is done about 3 times. You write a paper and then finish off the class with a final exam. All the tests are timed - talk about stressful because you only get 1-2 minutes per question, SO READ YOUR BOOK! Good luck~
Took her class online. Pretty easy overall. Make sure you read the book. The exams are open book, 90 minutes long, so if you haven't read the chapters and don't know where to look it will be stressful. Professor was very clear about deadlines and what the exams would be covering. I had no confusion whatsoever. She does also base grades on a curve.
Debs was an ok teacher. She knows most of what she is talking about but have caught her in a few contradictions. I will not recommend her to anyone andd will not be taking her for Soc 102
Really great class discussions!Debs is very knowledgeable in her field and provided great feedback when asked. She allows for varying degrees of critical thinking and encourages differing opinions to be shard openly without judgment. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and would recommend her to anyone.
Great class sociology is a very interesting subject, Debjani was very helpful when I went to her office to ask questions. She took time to sit and talk and answered all my questions. Her online instruction where clear and I feel she was very fair with her grading.
Deb is a very thorough, knowledgeable and easy-going Professor. She uses the textbook but goes beyond to cover topics that interestingly relate to the chapters. The text is very dry. Class attendance is mandatory except that you can miss two classes unexcused. I am already thinking of taking two of her classes in the summer and in the fall.
I took a online sociology class, got a 3.4 however I felt that the reading was the only way to pass the exams... your grade comes down to 6 exams and 1 writen assignment. I did not do well on the written assignment due to not having used enough sources and stating enough stats.
Debs was a great professor. She really pushes you to be the best you can be with no excuses. She was very helpful, especially when you needed her to be. I'm planning on taking another one of her classes in the fall.
A very good profesor that is fair and willing to help her students when they need it. Make sure to attend the class and to read the book as well as partisapate and you will be sure to pass with flying colors
I took this class online. Best experience I've had with an online class. Perfect for those that have a busy life or just want to do the work at an easy pace. Easy class but very interesting. I definetly recommend to take Sociology 101 with Chakrabarti. She always keeps you updated on what's going in the class and any changes as well.
This was a very fun and easy class. She is helpful and caring. Great online class and great teacher.
I took this class online and the teacher was very good with instructions. She communicated everything via email very well and gave us good amounts of time to complete assignment and tests. Questions were easy to understand and as long as you complete the reading you will do well.
She was great, but I would of like it better if she discuss more or added some visual explanation on what material we had to read. Took it online and it was difficult because she only gave us an outline of what to read from the book. Giving an outline does not really help at all and you HAVE to read the book or otherwise you will be way behind.
I had a great time in this class. It's a good amount of writing and the topics are very interesting. You have to be able to think in different ways though. We received a lot of extensions for some reason. If you keep up with the reading and don't wait to complete the papers this is a really fun class and you will learn quite a bit. Take it!
The was a pretty interesting class there is a lot of reading involved but as long as you keep up with the readings you will do well. The instructor explains everything very clearly and is very understanding.
This course was very well organized and the teacher has very strong communication skills. It was clear that she cared about the students from her writing back to us with grades. She gave us a few extensions for papers which were hard and needed more time. She is a fast grader too which helped to better the next set of work. I got an A- and liked it
I took this class online. There were only 4 assignments the whole quarter, A lot of reading is assigned. She gave questions for each chapter that we didn't have to turn in but showed up on the final. The assignments were all intersting too! Take this class but know that you have to understand concepts and analyze!
Debs is a wonderful teacher who is very helpful and thorough and more than willing to work with you, but her online soc 160 class was terribly boring. it seemed to be a study of feminism rather than a study of both genders.
Easiest 4.0 I've ever earned. 4 open-book exams plus a short exam for extra credit. One very short paper and discussion in which specific instructions were not given. Keep it short, sweet, and complete for the best grade and don't give overly personal touches to it. Good to take if your other classes are really tough that quarter!
Debs was a really nice teacher, and covered things in her lectures fairly well. Actually hearing the lectures though was a hit and miss, many times class was canceled at last notice. Because of that, a lot of book reading had to be done. Fairly easy class though.
Overall the class was easy and if you didnt get at least a C then you just didnt care. The tests are open book and only one main assignment, that was relatively easy as well. Only complaint is that Debs is a awful communicator. She claimed that she would respond back to emails within 24 hrs but it took her 5 weeks to email me back.
I didn't enjoy this class at all. I didn't find it helpful to my previous knowledge on Social psyc.
Took this class Fall 2013. Explains concepts very clearly and challenges you to think outside of the box. Is very encouraging to do your best and gives you enough practice tests to know her expectations on the real exams. Downside: She had huge Canvas/computer problems and could not communicate on Canvas most of the time.
With her, what you see is what you get!! She is very helpful, personable and accessible all the time. I have had no problems with her whatsoever.
Excellent class this winter. Her lectures are good and her practice tests are something you can count on to learn and master all the topics. Her grading process is very fair. She engages all the students and has great films for the class too. My second class with Dr. Chakrabarti, she taught me very well.
She is one of the best teachers ever not a lot of homework. Just got to focus and take good notes only 3 test through out the whole quarter. I definitely recommend her :D
Took the hybrid version of the class, only tue and thur and we only discussed in class, all reading is on your own and tests were open book but short timed. overall an easy A
Took this class online and had a lot of success! This was my first online class, and overall I had a great experience. If you read the book and make yourself good chapter outlines, the 5 tests are fairly easy! There is also a long research discussion, which took time and effort, but was actually pretty interesting! Definitely recommend this class!
Dr. Chakrabarti (Debs) is a great instructor. As far as lectures go, she is more interested in mixed methods of teaching than the "take-notes-from-slides" schedule. The text is dry and boring, but she makes the class interactive with intelligent humor and stories all related to Soc. She gives extra credit at the very end. This is a great class!!
She is a fascinating instructor. Goes well over everything in her lectures. She is willing to help you if you attend the class on a regular schedule. The class is beneficial, it boosted my learning and my grade. I enjoyed her and am planning to take one more class with Debs.
She is a pretty thorough Teacher. Pretty caring and considerate. She doesn't use the textbook in the class, uses a lot of her own materials and puts them on the exams. She grades fair and is intriguing in all the materials she teaches. I found her really interesting and upbeat.
She does not allow sufficient time for assignments and closes them at 6pm. This is highly inconvenient for those taking online classes.
Her entire class was based on exams. And then one discussion. She is a very hard grader. I did not enjoy her class, and would not reccomend her.
This is a super excellent class. Dr. Chakrabarti will give you a full orientation to the course through her syllabus on the first day. Once you keep up with the readings and take your exams as per the reading schedule following her full instructions, there is not a hard about this. She is so clear, helpful accessible & quick you know she cares.
This is doubtless the best Professor I have ever had in 8 years of graduate and post graduate work. Her mastery of the subject matter was matched only by her exciting style of pedagogy, which allowed students to work cooperatively together towards a common goal, thus deepening our understanding while never feeling ill-prepared for an exam. #1!
Best Professor I have ever had. Wonderful, inductive style of teaching that renders subject matter fun and the knowledge is built from the bottom-up rather than the top-down. What a refreshing way to learn!
she was great! gave a good amount of time to read the assigned chapters, lectures were pretty interesting and she is an overall great professor I highly recommend
She is a great professor. I took her for social psych and then took her again for sociology. teaches through lectures, very little homework if any, and only 3 exams. Very helpful. Study for exams and you will get an A.
Dr. Chakrabarti has many strengths to enable students to succeed. Her competence, her fairness, her engagement and enthusiasm, her knowledge, her level of perceptions, her attitudes are very favorable to students. She appears as a student coming every day to class with a smile and only once in a while, she is late. I learned and did very well.
Great professor, Great class!Dr. Chakrabarti is a very informative professor and gives students helpful feedback on assignments to help you reach your full potential. She is very friendly & very approachable! Do the assigned readings and the discussion post and u will be fine!
Deb is very helpful when it comes to sending emails and explaining what she expects. This was an online class so all the work depends on you. DO NOT GET BEHIND ON THE READINGS! Honestly, read the chapters, takes notes, and use the book on tests. She will reply if you need help. Highly recommended.
She was very helpful with everything including the exams, and she is very passionate about sociology. And is big on class discussion.
The Gender Studies class was very productive. She covered all kinds of topics and we had to write short and long papers, discussions and long exam. She made use of some great films and reviews going beyond the US to China, Africa, Mid-east and other developing world. Extremely fair with grading, she will give long feedback on all the assignments.
I very much enjoyed this class. Debs is a great instructor and very helpful. I found this class to be intellectually challenging and very informative. I have a much different view, for the better, about some social issues now. I would recommend taking any Sociology class you can from Debs :)
One of the best instructors at CBC, if not the best. She does a great job with teaching. I have taken two Soc. classes with Debs and both were built around critical thinking, cultural awareness, debates, discussions, short research papers and exams. She puts in a lot of heart into her work and checks with students every so often. Recommended!
I enjoyed this class very much. The material at times need two read through's but all in all not terribly to grasp. As long as you did the required reading the class work was easy to follow and accomplish. She very quick to respond to any questions and very nice too. Definitely a good class to take.
Just an awesome Professor. Her lectures are dense, full of important points which is an intro to the kinds of tasks/homework she expects. She is the first Prof. I have seen going over the entire exam, after grading, with the class to discuss the mistakes and scope for better grades. She's exteremly intelligent and a highly respectable Professor.
EXTREMELY easy! Open book exams, she grades my POINTS not PERCENTAGE. Gives you more than enough time to complete assignments (one was 19 days).
Dr Chakrabarti is a very good teacher and I am strongly recommend her. I took online SOC 101 and really like the text book she chose. She also replied email very quickly.
Her communication with the class is very professional and crystal clear. She answers every question within 24 hours or less and sticks to the syllabus. She is also very fair with the grades and feedback. There is a bonus assignment at the very end for raising your grade in the class. I would rate her as the top teacher.
Very help full instructor that constantly reminds her students about upcoming assignments. I would definitely recommend her to any one that is planning to take sociology 101.
Debs is a very thorough teacher. She gives very specific directions so you are not left wondering what the expectation of the class will be, as well as what is required for homework. She is very willing to answer questions, and gets back to students in a timely manner. As long as you do your assigned readings, you will be fine.
Debs was a very well rounded professor. She gave clear instructions on what she expected out of every student, with ample time to complete the assignments and reading. She even was nice enough to extend the deadline for a few assignments when students needed it. I highly recommend this teacher for this course.
Completely enjoyable learning process and the instructor's input and guidance were greatly appreciated and extremely helpful. Her insight and clarity helped mine some hidden gems of sociology information that helped put the finishing touches to my assignments. I look forward to taking further classes with her.
Took this class online in the summer, so the reading was very fast paced due to the lack of time in class and the shortened quarter. The tests were pretty tough, but if you do all the reading like required, you will do fine. Great teacher, she was extremely clear on instructions and very helpful when when I asked for help. Great teacher.
Fast paced class as it was Summer quarter. Lots of reading, but test questions come directly from the text. Had 3 exams, 2 critical thinking/research papers (1200 words)plus a bonus exam to make up points. Overall Great class, great Prof.
Took this class online this summer. Dr. Chakrabarti is a highly efficient Professor and communicator. She is always available to help with any and all assignments. She teaches many more classes at CBC. I recommend taking a few classes with her, she is really a gem of a person. Her background is commendable! Fairest with grades. :)
Super easy class and teacher is super chill.
Learned a lot from Debs. She knew when i was slacking and encouraged me. When I worked hard, I was complimented. Well done for a non-human experience.
She's amazing! Her class is extremely easy and she wants you to pass! I loved her class!!
I had her in both sociology and social psychology. I loved both classes. She works with you and is a fair grader. I recommend.
Chakrabarti makes class fun and interesting. The tests are simple as long as you pay attention. She helped me to get a better grade than I originally thought I could possibly get.
Really nice teacher! Very understanding! Would definitely take her again!! :)
great teacher, this class does require participation, but she was great and lots of fun!
Our class discussions were informative, and thought provoking. We tackled some controversial topics, which lead to some interesting discussions. There were numerous view points, and opinions, and most of the students had no problem opening up in class after the first week or two. Prof. Chakrabarti did a great job of keeping the students engaged.
Prof. Chakrabarti is articulate and covers a large number of topics. Students especially commented well on her strengths in social stratification topics on the last day of class. Her grading is very fair. She gives extra-credit assignments and lets everyone participate in the class discussions. She made me interested in the sociology materials.
Chakrabarti was a pretty good professor, her accent made it a little hard to understand at times, but she made class easy. Be prepared for a lot of reading and you will pass.
Dr. Chakrabarti responds very quickly to emails with clear instructions. Her feedback and grades on homework assignments are liberal and fair. She does a very thorough job of posting all the materials you need to know. I also felt that she deeply cares about students. I would surely like to take more classes with her. Great Prof. of Sociology!
I absolutely loved this teacher. She is very upfront about what her expectations are for the class and responded quickly to any questions or concerns I had. Make sure you read each chapter because the exams are pretty thorough. The papers you will need to write are not hard at all, just time consuming. I DEFINITELY recommend her!!
Deb was GREAT! Will take her classes any chance I get :) Very responsive and explains things clearly!
Absolutely my favorite teacher. I still go to her for help on other professor's assignments because she provides such great feedback.
