Great teacher if you want to learn to explore creativity and take chances. There is alot of work between the projects and the notebook, but she gives alot of in-class time to finsih these. Her grading is very easy if you put effort into your projects.

She understands that not everyone has artistic talent and grades accordingly. Don't expect to be able to slack off unless you have real talent. She expects you to do your best work.

i like her. shes got spunk. the only down side i saw in this class was how LONG it was- 3hrs. but it does give you plenty of time to finish projects, but no time to really look for outside inspirations, unless you think a pile of trashed mags could be helpful.

Professor Barr is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She's very helpful and allows you to explore your creativity. Her suggestions are not criticisms, she really helps you bring out the best in yourself. Come prepared to class and you will truly benefit from her experience.

I took color and design with Barr and was impressed. She is the type of teacher who helps people who give enough of a damn to go ask her. If you're the kind of person who likes to have teachers come baby you, go somewhere else. If you put out effort, you will pass, regardless of your artistic talent. However... this is NOT a high school art class!

She is a very laid back teacher. Had fun conversations in her class. Only two major papers were due and the quizs were not difficult at all. Definintly would recommened this teacher.

If you fail this online class, you need to be checked for learning disorder! Seriously, my 14 year old who loves art could easily ace this class. Barr is great, easy, you read the chapter (good book, easy to follow) and take a quiz. If you don't pass this class and learn something, then you simply did not read! And she's very helpful!

Art 160 is a good way to surfey art and why we make art. Professor Brayman is always good about explaining things. If your intrested in art try this class its fun and easy.

Deborah is a great teacher. If you are already an artist or just learning, she will further your knowledge. Her class is what an art class is supposed to be all about.

I came into this class with no prior painting experience. As long as you stay within the given guidelines and keep on schedule, the projects are not difficult. She seems to grade based on how well you complete the assignment not on how "skilled" you are. She doesn't meddle, so you have to ask for help. But she gives it willingly and sincerely.

Love her, she is great professor, and she always help the students. this is my first time to take painting class. its great and we have a field trip, too

I enjoyed this class. It was interesting and easy to follow. The expectations were clearly laid out and earning a good grade was not difficult as long as you are willing to read the chapters and do the quizzes. I liked that we didn't have a discussion post every week.

This class is actually really amazing. If you simply like art, you'll learn more about it and come across some really pretty paintings. Her class is self explanatory, it took a minute to get a hold of how things went, but after you do, it'll be easy. I love it, and I would take it again if I could! Love it!!

The only thing that I wish would've been different is that the Mid Term and Final weren't on the blackboard calendar (which posted Discussions and Quizzes. Led to me missing Mid-Term, luckily with the other assignments I still was able to get a B. Really awesome class!

Very easy teacher! I took her online so I don't know how she is in an actual classroom but if it is anything like the online course, it is an easy A. The design of the course was easy to follow and she, in my opinion, is an easy grader.

Easy A if you turn in all assignments. Be careful not to get confused intitially in the class because her deadline is Monday 9am, not pm. She will not drop or reopen those for you. That took me to a C. Overall, good class and easy A, if you turn work in on time.

I really enjoyed this class. I went to this site to find her and the reviews won't lie. Trust me I literally stand out in that class and yet felt amazing and fun. If i didn't take this class I wouldn't enjoy art. Take this class, you could make cool friends and make art that you didn't believe you could make. I made glass and I surprised myself.

Well planned out

Yesterday was the last day of this class, Aside from some minor mess ups with the final. It was a great class, she really makes sure that you get it, shes helpful, very helpful and the class is very interactive, I unfortunately came in kinda late into the class, and shes not easy but not super hard when it comes to grades.I would say reasonable.

Professor Brayman takes art seriously. She won't give you an A if you only do the bare minimum. However, she doesn't grade your artwork based solely on skill. If you follow her directions and give your best effort, you will do well in this class. Attendance is not totally mandatory, but if you miss class without a valid reason you may get behind.

I found Mrs. Brayman to be extremely helpful. Between all of the students in class, she still makes time for individual feed back and advice to help each person without having to ask. Professor Brayman is a very helpful art instructor. She gives great feedback, gives you lots of freedom with assignments as long as they don't take away from the main objective of the assignment, always has music going during work days, and has never missed opportunity to help a student in need. She is a great artist and art instructor; more than willing to help anyone with technique, your artwork, & what other artists are doing. She paints during the class so you get a chance to see methods and final product. 6 projects assigned but she gives you instructions and allows you to bend the rules within your artwork. Show effort.

Amazing teacher

She gives us challenging work, but not to far over our heads, makes one think about what we need to do for the next project. Also helps guide one to get the correct set up for each project. She is very perceptive to the students and their needs and is pretty tolerable to some distractions in class. She presents a well rounded syllabus.

This professor is wonderful, but she is very helpful and answers all emails back. If you are confused on something she helps by explaining carefully and shows examples to understand the topic even better. This professor is probably one of the most best instructors I have had.

Professor Brayman is very knowledgable. She can provide help when needed and is extremely open to various styles, skill levels, and approaches to art. All that she asks is that you complete the assignments within the given boundaries and give your best effort. It is very easy to be creative in her class.

Deborah Barr-Brayman introduced specific techniques in class but she empowered the individual artist to use these to express themselves keeping with their artistic style.

You really had to check Blackboard for the assignments. Some assignment dates were changed and new assignments were added.

My class needed the Revel access pass which is where all tests were and they were easy to find in the book. Many discussions but interesting topics. Easy grader, if you do the work you get full credit!

I took her art appreciation class online Keep up with the reading its a must. She gives plenty of notice for assignments. Do the work and get the credit that easy. Gets she gets back to you within 24 hrs for emails. She helps you a lot want to see you succeed. Gave one extra credit. Good class would take her again.

Professor is great and gives you feed back which is really helpful. Easy going course for the most part. I would retake it if needed.

I took OL-Art 160 Class was not hard. If you read the material you will be fine. The discussions were fun. I truly enjoyed her class and would take it again. If you are you to try and wing it and not read the study material then of course you won't pass. I got an A.

She was very enthusiastic and creative.

This professor was very good at expecting you to read the material, and arranging the material in order to participate in a way that it makes you learn the material needed. I enjoyed learning about the different kinds of art and the history of it.

We did 6 projects, most of which were experimental. The photo paper assignment was a waste, would have rather been made to do another full painting. Very fun class though, great environment and Deborah is extremely helpful and easy to talk to. She will help you if you are struggling, but you need to put in an effort.

The teacher was pretty straight forward with what she wanted and how she wanted it. The book is a must. You cannot pass without it.

Super great instructor for those student that did not appreciate the instructor, Follow basic life rules and never fall behind. If you do fall a behind don't wait till the last minute to ask questions, that she is willing to answer to help us as students. And my advice keep up with your quiz assignments and homework, And don't take shortcuts.

i have had Deborah for many painting classes and would continue to take many more if I could. For me she has been inspirational in the following ways: she physically paints for us in class, her "links" opens a new world of new artists, she takes time for you and helpful feedback. I truly respect Deborah so do many of her students.

Professor Bar is very inspirational, gives everyone a good chance to help their grades out, gives extra credit, works along side the students and suggests improvements to their project. She is a good listener and gives good detailed lectures to the next project to come, will stay late to help students out. A well rounded accomplished professor.

Mrs. Barr-Brayman is a great instructor. She was very active in our class and laid everything from the beginning so you would know what to expect. Textbook required and is very helpful in this class. She provided great feedback and graded very fair! This was my 3rd time taking this class and I am glad i chose her to finally get over the hump!

I usually hate taking classes online but she has made it so incredibly easy! Her directions are so clear and homework is always to the same day (monday for example) each week, giving you plenty of time and no surprises in your schedule so its super easy to stay on track. I wish she taught all online classes! I actually learned a lot too

This class involves a lot of reading which is expected. The good thing is that the text is available online which has a narrative feature. Discussions are also required for points. Overall, professor Barr was great, provides feedback, and not a tough grader. I would like to take another class with her in the future.

This class was so much fun, I was really thinking I would get bored but I did not! The class is clear cut and with some elbow grease you can get a good grade!

The class is easy once you understand its rhythm. You will not have pop quizes of any sort. Every assignment is anounced reasonably early so that you have time to complete it. The teacher is helpful and experienced.

Professor Barr is an amazing artist and a wonderful instructor. She's funny, kind and helpful; and very available for feedback on your painting project. She's fairly hands-off in that she gives the lecture/demo and then lets you do your own thing, but she's always happy to help if you ask. As a respected artist herself, she's a great resource.

A very reasonable grader. Not much of a teacher, but that's because she didn't really have to be; the class was very easy. Definitely recommend for online art appreciation, if that's what you're looking for.

An easy class that doesn't have too much work. She uses an outside source called persons that you have to pay for rather than a textbook, you can find all of the answers online as well. Overall an easy A, highly recommend it for an online class.

I took art 160 online. It was very simple, all you had to do was the discussions and online work but it was all very simple. I enjoyed her assignments, some of them had a lasting personal effect on me. She is a great person and a great artist.

GREAT ONLINE ART CLASS

I took her online class and it was great! There is a website where we do a lot of reading and there are small tests that follow each reading section. Make sure you pace yourself because it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. The work is not hard and you will learn a lot. Highly recommend choosing this professor.

Professor Barr is one of my favorite professors. She takes her time helping you, and she also offers feedback. She always encourages her students to paint whatever they desire as long as its related to the assignments she gives. Professor Barr is the best and kindest Professor at MJC.

I took Professor Barr for Painting 1 (Acrylic). This was my first college level painting class and it was awesome! She was very helpful with the beginning painters as well as challenging the more advanced students. Everyone, no matter their skill set, can learn something new! Attend class, put forth the effort and you'll pass!

Good class to take over summer. Just keep track with the revel chapters and your good. Projects are simple to do(especially the final collage project). Extra credit is helpful . Overall a good experience since you do not feel pressure in her online class.

I took this class over the summer and it was quite simple. There are revel assignments due every Monday, some weeks you have discussions and others you have simple (not long) essays. She is not a tough grader and as long as you do the work, you will get an A!

If attendance is an issue for you, dont take this Professor. Missing one class can literally turn your A into a B and it took me the whole semester just to regain that A and I received good scores on all my artwork. So DO NOT skip class. Also there are also quizzes and difficulty varies. However, easy grader. Also takes a while for her to open up.

She was a good teacher and a nice person to talk to but, kind of all over the place. I kind of wish she would have taught the color wheel in her class, luckily I already knew about the color wheel but I felt bad for the students that didn't know. She assigns a lot of work. I was stressed out during this class. Do the work on time and you will be ok

Easiest online art class ever, HOWEVER, I turned everything in and had a high A in the class until the final. I wrote in my comment for the assignment but forgot to turn in the actual assignment and she is the only professor to ever NOT email me about it. My grade dropped to a low B

In this class you'll have discussions and chapter reading assignments (with quizzes).The discussions you will need to discuss a specific topic or artist, and should apply aspects from the chapter readings. Extra credit is offered, and the class is well organized in canvas. Everything you need to know is in the modules, announcements, and syllabus.

Professor Barr has been an amazing teacher, I've taken her classes for the past two years and have grown so much as an artist. The projects are meant to teach you different techniques in painting; when combined together can create some truly amazing visual dialog. also, her art is shown around the world, I recommend absorbing as much as possible

in Advanced painting Barr allows you more freedom for what you create, and also gives you more critiques to help you grow. Beginning painting is about the basics, advanced painting is about honing skills. Deborah has truly been an amazing mentor, and has pushed me to really think about the "why" behind my own art. Color/2d foundations class was a good intro for drawing and painting. Projects like making a color wheel, a monochrome painting (black and white) and different design elements in art. The directions and instructions are clear in lectures about assignments, so don't miss class, write down what she says, and ask questions.

I'm shocked by some of the negative feedback on here. Because Professor Barr is AMAZING. Details for assignments are always gone over either in lecture or in canvas modules (and usually both). Reading through the syllabus is important to understand what expectations there are. Take the class and assignments seriously, and you'll do fine.

I couldn't have asked for a better mentor. Professor Barr has pushed me so much as an artist, and has encouraged me every step along the way. She is passionate, talented, and genuinely wants to see her students grow. The only part about leaving MJC that I'm sad about is that I wont be taking more of her classes!

Professor Barr is an amazing artist and professor, I learned a lot from her class and have grown so much as a future artist. She is very kind and friendly. She taught us different techniques in oil paintings. She let us watch videos which teach us how to create art works and encourage us do not be scared to create art works. This helped me a lot.

This class is a mix of discussions that are very easy, and the Pearson revel book which I paid $80 for. But she is very nice and as long as you do the readings and discussions you will pass.

4.5 stars because it felt too easy that it didn't challenge me. Easy class and good professor, I took it over the summer and if I'm being honest, as long as you have even an ounce of media literacy it would be shocking if you didn't ace the class. $80 Textbook required. If you are honest and have a valid reason she will be lenient with late work.

This was the easiest class I have ever taken, the professor seems nice but uninvolved and detached. There were 5 discussions, 3 assignments, and a final project collage. Also lots of Pearson Textbook work ($160) which is all online iykyk! Overall very easy class.

By far one of the easiest Art classes on campus I took it online and got a easy A you work on this one website called pearson and the best part is you don't have to pay for the textbook because it's on the site follow Barrs directions and you will get a easy A easiest work and easy workload and interesting!
