She's very interesting and very good. Show up daily, take notes, get an A.
She's very nice. Easy. Show up. Take notes. Get an A.
Very nice teacher. An easy class if you put some effort into it.
Great professor! Come to class or call her to let her know you can't and she's easy to work with. Great for non-trad students and fun homework assignments. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
As long as you come to class and take notes you will definately get an A. She is very fun and understanding.
very good teacher, show up to class, very interesting
AWESOME! Wish all teachers are like her!
She is really awesome. As many have said, if you study your notes, you will do fine on the tests. She is also really nice and flexible. Class never gets out early, but she is never boring.
Makes the class very interesting.
Sweet lady. If you show up, it's easy.
She's a cool teacher. She makes things pretty interesting. The class isn't bad at all.
She is really nice and the notes are easy to follow and understand. Somewhat interesting. The tests however, cover SO MUCH information. Be willing to study for awhile if you want to do decent. Some easy assignments for 10 pts each.
Very clear. Makes class fun and interesting. Notes easy to take and follow. Gives lots of information, but definitely not dull.
Show up, follow the study guide, and it's an easy A. There are a few incredibly easy homework assignments.
This class was fun! Go to class and take notes and you will do fine. You never really have to read the book, all the test questions are from your notes. There are 10 assignments, they are all really easy. I recommend this class!!
I loved this class. She's so nice and her tests are straight out of her well organized notes.
Easy A. Take notes, study them (test comes from them). Forget the book...waste of your money...never opened it once. 4 tests including final, and 10 extremely easy assignments...do them...they really boost the grade.
Get a friend in the class, let him/her give you their notes, and never step foot in class until test days.
Didn't even pick up the book. All the easy test questions are from the lectures. Easy Easy homework assignments. If you are looking for an easy A, take the class with her.
Easy to get A in her class. You just have to study for her lecture and do the homework. The lecture can be print out in the blackboard. I would recommend her if you looking for easy class and get "A".
EASY A. It's true, you probably do not have to buy a book, but it's nice to have one. Go in with some people and share. Test questions come straight from the notes from a powerpoint she does. Easy and kind of fun assignments that even help your grade if needed. More about what places are, instea
excellent professor
She is a very nice teacher, she has such a good, fun sense of humor and is just a sweet genuine person, if you are looking for an easy class but interesting this is the one!!!
I really enjoyed this class. She was a good teacher. She tells you what is on the test, and if you study your notes, you will get and A on them. Tests aren't hard and neither are the assignments. Just make sure you are specific when answering the questions on the worksheets. I'd take her again.
Nice lady. My favorite class. Really interesting. Mostly all lecture class from the powerpoint presentations.
Great prof and makes class easy to stay on track with if you miss a day. You do need to usually go to class. Recommended highly!
this class suck but she was really nice! i thougt the tests were hard but the homework mad up for it, she is willing to help you with what ever you need just study for the tests a lot and your be fine!
Great
Great teacher. Very organized and fair grader. Will let you tun in late assignments, fair tests directly from our notes. Interesting class and She is so so nice!!!
Nice lady and pretty easy A. Just study an hour or so for the tests. She has very little homework, and the stuff that is homework is simple word for word stuff. Oh ya, Dont buy the text book. I makin a solid A without it. All comes from the notes.
Not a bad class to take, but very boring. You'll be doing taking notes 95% of the days, and the other 5% are test days. I personally had trouble staying awake. But if you can hang in there, take notes each day and do the assignments,(about two per each test), then you'll do fine.
Never can stay awake. She has a very mono-tone voice and she dims the lights so that doesn't help. The tests suck but the homework is easy. Not recommended.
A very nice and helpful teacher! She doesn't just make you memorize places and names, but tries to find something interesting about each place. Tests are somewhat challenging, but study guides are very helpful. The textbook is unnecessary, all the map locations can be looked up online and other information is in the notes. Good use of Blackboard!
Makes boring information interesting!
This is an ok class. She does make it interesting. I am not sure that we learned what is on the test.
An interesting class to take (had to take it for my major). Uses Powerpoint lectures, and all lectures are available on Blackboard--but still show up to class, because she doesn't include ALL the notes in the PP. Gives study guides out before the tests. STUDY for them! Consists of multiple choice and map questions. Lots of homework--easy As.
Nice person, good teacher, but if you expect to pass if you don't do the homework, good luck.
An ok class but I dont really like her grading scale. Each test is worth 150 points so if you dig an early hole it is hard to dig yourself out. You do have homework occasionally but it is real easy. She is a really nice teacher and tries to make it interesting.
Do the EASY assignments and study hard from the study guides and power points (which are all online) for the tests and you should get an A. She is a nice teacher and isn't very hard at all as long as you study.
Lots of notes. Wouldnt recommend missing class to much enless you can still get the notes. Map questions on tests are easy points.
You really can tell how much Mrs. Corcoran likes the subject and you sort of feed off her interest. She uses powerpoint in a very effective manner. The tests are not difficult but not easy so study a couple of nights before. Do NOT forget to complete assignments. They're worth a lot in the end.
She is a good teacher but she tends to be rude in response to emails and is really hard on you if you miss class, even if you had a good reason and are trying hard to get caught up. Take her if you plan on studying HARD and not missing ANY class. Her lectures were interesting though.
Her class is farely easy if you do the assignments and take notes in class. I found the class to be pretty interesting. You can definately tell she has a genuine love for the subject. I recommend her!
She is a great teacher and really gets into the subject. Go to class and read over notes and do the easy assignments you will be fine. The tests can be hard if you dont study, but i have yet to open my book. I have an A and her class is actually interesting!
Mrs. Corcoran is a good teacher and the material that we learned was interesting. Attendance is necessary because she posts a brief outline of the notes on blackboard but in order to get the full context of the notes you need to be present in class!!!
Test are hard! Lots of information that has to be studied but little is tested on. Do not buy the book, I never used it once. She gives extra credit but if you can't make it, don't try asking for an alternative. I work full-time and asked twice if I could do something else for extra credit and was denied each time. Boring lectures! Assgmnts Easy
She is a great teacher! She does take attendance and doesn't post all the notes on blackboard so you should come to class!! I have missed though and gotten the notes from others! Her assignments are easy and I NEVER use the book! I have an A in the class! I recommend her!!
She was a good teacher. She really knows what she is talking about! Tests just follow the notes. Not a hard class at all! Recomended!
First of all, if you take this class, do not take the 2day a week hour and 15 min class because you will go crazy! Take the 50 min class. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Only one small assignment from it. Easy Class, pretty interesting
awesome teacher! definitely take this class. but dont buy the book. you will never use it.
This class was long.I took it on TR and everyone was falling asleep or not paying attention. The tests covered a lot of information. The text book is never used. All of the test questions come from the notes in class. If you miss class she will not send you the notes;so make friends.
Corcoran is the best teacher I have ever had. I learned more in this class than any other. Don't buy the book, print the slides and keep a binder for this class! She will inspire you to keep up with current events around the world. Great class, even greater teacher!!
Extremely knowledeable. She really makes geography interesting. Best class I've ever taken.
Aweful professor..the most boring I have had yet..gives you pp slides and study guides but they have nothing to do with the test. I always went to class and studied and still got a D!
Favorite class!!! If you don't make an A it's because your sleeping in class.
GREAT GENERAL ED CLASS
she is a wonderful teacher! you do have to attend her class because she only gives you half the notes but she is always showing very interesting videos and articles that make you want to come to class! highly recommend taking her for the gen ed geography class. You won't regret it!
She is magnificent! I had no interest in taking this class and then when I left I wanted to major in GRY! If you go to class and study its an easy A. She give a lot of extra credit and is very interesting!
Very easy! Come to class and you'll pass.
Really nice instructor. She cares about her students and wants to make them interested in world geography. Attend the classes, pay attention, and enjoy yourself because the lectures are usually pretty interesting and exciting.
Fantastic teacher. Definitely brings the world to you. I was reluctant to take the class, but wound up extremely glad I did. She provides excellent study guides that outline what she wants you to know and generally gives lectures that follow it pretty much verbatim. DO BUY THE BOOK. She uses it.
As long as you keep good notes this class is a breeze. She hardly uses the book and all the tests are on scantrons.
She is a precious lady, very helpful if you ask her of anything. I was sick on a test day and she didn't even require me to bring a doctors note. her tests are difficult. Her exams are more like trivia questions rather than an actual test, she throws random statistics on there that would not be on normal exams. Extra credit is provided. GO TO CLASS
She is extremely helpful, one of the most helpful I have had at this school. She is willing to work with you as long as you let her know. Her tests are not hard, as long as you copy her notes from the slides and have a good idea of what was covered you will do fine. Make sure you attend class though, she doesn't post full slides only outlines.
She puts to much information on the test. If your not good a geo or remembering places dont take this class
Notes and study guides are a lot of information, but tests are only 50 questions. Alot to remember but it's not that bad. Just make sure to read your notes and you should do fine! There are assignments from the book so youll need it
It is a lot of information to take in, but make sure you read your textbook and the assigned readings and study powerpoints. It is very interesting information but just a lot. Do the homework and study. She is very very helpful.
I can honestly say this woman is the reason I switched my major to Geography. She has amazing powerpoints to follow along with and knows everything about what she talks about. Provides a post test at the end of semester to replace one test grade. Definitely recommend her.
You can tell she is very smart and loves geography but her tests are super hard. They cover a TON of information and the study guides aren't much help. I only suggest taking this class if geography is your major. If it's just a requirement I would take a different teacher.
She is extremely nice and helpful. The class material is easy and as long as you take good notes and study, the tests are easy. They are all multiple choice. You will learn about every continent except North America and Antarctica, so you learn a lot by the end of the semester. Really easy A as long as you put forth the effort.
Excellent professor. Amazingly clear powerpoints and she provides you with a very helpful study guide for each exam. Just take good notes and show up for class and you will do just fine. She also provides you with interesting readings, so her homework is not boring. Definitely recommend her.
She makes the class really interesting and she truly loves what she teaches. Just study your notes and attend class and you'll get an A.
She is awesome and is really nice
She is a wonderful teacher and is very interested in the subject. She is very helpful but her tests are hard if you aren't good at remembering details. In order to pass you have to go to class because the slides posted to blackboard aren't complete. Do the extra credit and buy the book.
Ms. Corcoran is by far the most outstanding teacher I have had at MSU. Incredibly knowledgeable, incredibly fair, incredibly nice woman. She writes the tests herself, so they are difficult, but pay attention and never skip and there is no reason you will not do great!
Very helpful and knows her stuff. You can tell she knows what she's talking about. She's very clear with notes. Come to class and pay attention and you'll do great!
Loved her class. You can tell that she's passionate about what she's teaching. Her lectures may be a bit lengthy, but they're very interesting. Make sure to take good notes and study for the tests. Do the online assignments, too. I would take her any chance I would get.
This isn't a blow-off class. Attend every lecture and take good notes and you should be fine. She makes lectures extremely interesting and she is passionate about geography. Make sure to go in and study your pretest, because that same test will be the posttest, and you can substitute the posttest for another exam. She's awesome and I recommend her
Debbie is a really great professor. She cares a lot about her students and is always willing to help you understand the material. Her tests are pretty easy, even if you're not good at geography. Lots of map questions, though. She likes people that speak up during class, so don't be afraid to answer questions!
Debbie is a really great professor who cares a lot about her students and is always willing to help you understand the material. Her tests are pretty easy, even if you're not good at geography. Lots of map questions, though. She likes people that speak up during class, so don't be afraid to answer questions!
Great teacher. Provides extra credit opportunities, which is good because I never did fabulous on the tests. Just lots of info covered in the lectures, but it's not super difficult.
EASY CLASS!!!!!! I received a bad grade because I forgot to do the final group project. Homework is online and tests are over what she covers. Class is kind of boring. attendance is not mandatory but it boosts your grade since she is on a plus minus scale. If you study you will get EASY A. If you don't you should still pass if you do the homework
I took GRY 100 with Deborah Corcoran. She give several extra credit assignments and I would suggest that you complete all of them that you can. I always felt that I was prepared for the tests, but then I didn't do very well. I ended up with a decent grade in the class because of the homework and extra credit points.
Mrs. Corcoran was very organized and prepared for class. Lectures could be a bit dry at times, however she did a great job of sparking interest in the subject. Very interested in her students' success and very understanding when it comes to technology issues (with online homework assignments). Must take notes and pay attention, but easy class.
She is very nice. There is alot of online homework but it does not take long and you can find the answers all over quizlet. Her project and tests are easy. I really never went but I also got the study guide from someone. Her tests are the lecturestudy guide. There are assigned readings for each test and they aren't bad and will be on it.
Lot's of extra credit. I learned so much in this class, I am so glad I enrolled in it. The online homework is really time consuming and seems pointless but it wasn't hard. I got over a 96% on every test without reading the assigned reading list. Just fill out the study guide and run over it a lot. Overall - Time-consuming but passable and worth it
Quizzes usually follow what's on the lectures. Extra credit is a lot of watching movies from other cultures or attending lectures on global themes. Definitely willing to work with students, and made me more interested in the subject. Would recommend.
She is one of the best Geography teachers for GRY 100. Easy class in my opinion. She outlines what to expect from you in the course, meaning academic wise. Do the readings and study the study guide and you are likely to get an A in the course.
She is a very nice, will work with you if you need help. She is very clear about what she wants you to do. She knows a lot about her subject and will open you to new things you may not have know before about areas you will study. You need to do the homework it is not hard but if you don't your grade will turn out very good.
You will learn interesting things about the world. She lectures all class. She takes attendance every day before class. She gives you many opportunities for extra credit up to 30 points. She is a nice person and easily approachable. She responds to e-mails. There are 4 tests which are moderately difficult. Get ready for reading and studying.
Easiest class ever. Show up and sit through the power points and you will get an A on every exam. Homework is a joke as well. All on-line; use your book-any one who doesn't get an A is just lazy. 30 points of EC allotted as well.
She posts the power points on Blackboard, but covers things in her lectures that aren't included in the power points (leaves blanks on slides that you have to fill in by coming to class). Online code needed for the class to complete homework assignments. She offers extra credit and provides study guides for the tests. Overall, not a difficult class
Gives lot of extra credit. Lectures are long. She never cancels class. Gives study guide
She is very nice and makes the information easy to understand. Almost every thing you need (notes, extra credit, etc.) she posts online which is great. Tests you definitely have to study for but most of the information comes directly from the notes instead of the book.
Dr. Corcoran loves geography and is very knowledgeable. The information is not difficult; however, there is a lot to remember. She gives study guides for every test, and the tests aren't hard if you study. She will give up to 30 points of extra credit. There is online homework for every chapter, the answers come from the book. Would take again
Mrs. Corcoran is awesome. She lectures the whole class period with powerpoint, but includes interesting videos and pictures in them to spice things up. She is very knowledgeable and talks about cool stuff. I found the test and homework to all be very easy. I never studied, just showed up to class and paid attention.
I loved Corcoran. GRY 100 was a very interesting class and it had a lot to do with the way she taught. It was a lecture intensive setting but Corcoran shared fun facts and interesting statistics to keep it interesting. If you attend class and go over study guides before tests they are fine. Offers lots of extra credit. Wish i could take again!!!
She is super sweet and goes over a ton in class. She puts the powerpoint online but not all the information is on there. If you only miss 2 classes she will round your grade up in the end so it pays off to go to class. There is a TON of extra credit. Most of the HW can be found online. Tests will be easy if you take the time to study.
Corcoran was such a nice professor. She was always calm, collected and organized. I never struggled to understand her material and she was always easy to get ahold of outside of class. She was willing to help and was very personable. I really enjoyed going to her class.
One of the nicest professors I've ever had at the school. The class is also very simple if you put in any work at all. Good amount of the grade is online homework which is copying answers from the booking or googling the question. Tests can easily be studied for by just reviewing the slides. Make sure you go to class since the slides have blanks.
5 tests in the whole semester. A couple of map quizzes, but mainly on the exams. Lots of Slides. Her voice sometimes annoys me be you get used to it. All in all, she is a great teacher. Tons of Extra credit. I never used the opportunities, though. Remember to do your homework before the deadline!
Great professor. Makes PowerPoint slides as colorful and interesting as possible. Sometimes plays music before class. Super caring and is willing to talk about things other than geography. Homework for each chapter, but plenty of time to do it. Project at the end of semester, super easy.
Professor Corcoran is one of the most caring professors at the university. He wants everyone to succeed in this class and it shows in her PowerPoints. Minus the technically difficulties, Corcoran's lectures are exactly what is on the test and as long as you study the study guides this will be an easy A
She is the best! Her power points are fun and she makes things that are going to be on tests very clear. There are online assignments for each chapter but they are easy. There are 3 reflection papers for the class but they are all done over videos that are really interesting to watch.
Dr. Corcoran is an awesome professor! Typically, I don't like Geography, but she made the material a lot more interesting. She is very sweet, and occasionally pushes back deadlines for assignments if she realizes that her students have a busy week. She offers a lot of extra credit, and is very knowledgable about her subject! 10/10!
The best example of mild mannered caring I've ever seen in a Prof. I took her for Geo of Health class and it was interesting. She cares about her material and her students. The books for the class are useful but the only one you need is "pandemics". Show up to lecture, take a few notes and you'll do great and probably enjoy it too.
Mrs. Corcoran is an amazing teacher and truly loves what she does. There are five tests and one group project. The group project is super easy and can be done by two people. The class is very engaging and you actually learn a lot. You will need to read chapters for definitions and pay attention to the power points, but overall it was an easy A.
She's very informed and makes lectures very interesting and understandable. I enjoyed learning about geography because of how passionate she was about it. In order to get a good grade, you must get near perfect on the homework that come straight from the chapters. I studied HEAVILY for the tests because there's so much info. She offers EC to help!
Lectures are very clear, easy to follow, and show exactly what is on her tests. She is very caring and makes the subject matter interesting and fun. All answers to the homework are online.
She is by far my favorite professor I've ever had. I took geography years ago and I barely passed. I got a high B in her class. She makes it interesting to learn about. Take good notes and you'll get an A if you study them. Quizzes and homework are easy. Shes very understanding and knowledgeable. She offers a good amount of extra credit too!
She is really knowledgeable and caring and it shows in her teaching. Her test come completely from lecture and the homework. Homework is really easy. Her lectures are really dry and boring but you have to go to class.
She's very nice and her lectures aren't painful to listen to, despite being the whole hour & 15 minutes. I just take good notes in class and do fine on the exams. She gives lots of extra credit as well which is great. And will round grades if you show up to almost every class. Homework is Pearson like lots of classes so it's easy.
She really loves what she does! She is super knowledgable and knows what she is talking about. She knows whats on her tests. The lectures aren't always the most interesting, but you have to listen and take notes to do well on the tests. Homework is all on pearson which was easy. Very understanding & can get a decent grade if you put in some effort
She is a great teacher. She definitely cares about her job and her students. She is a sweetheart and will help you if you need it. Her class does require studying and attendance is not mandatory but she does count it for points randomly so you should go!! This class is very interesting, but she makes it even better.
I really liked her. Her lectures were always very interesting. She has opportunities for extra credit and some filler points. The only thing I didn't like was that the exams were difficult. There were a lot of questions like which of the following weren't correct about a location. She is a great teacher, just makes you work.
What a wonderful woman. I thought I would hate this class, there was a test very soon after the semester started and It was hard, but once you get into the actual GRY it gets really interesting! I feel this class, especially with her, is a great class to take if you want to LEARN about the world. Tests were average, Great professor.
Professor Corcoran's GRY 100 is a stereotypical gen ed. Homework once a week, gives out study guides that correlate with the tests, posts all powerpoints online although not all information is listed on them. Attendance is not mandatory, and she follows the class schedule very well. Very easy class, but make sure to know someone else in the class.
Pretty decent overall
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! This crazy bat made a seating chart for over 40 students and took attendance every day. I lost my respect for her as a prof when she treated everyone like a 8th grader. Book is through Pearson. Mastering is assigned every other week. Some in class activities, with partners.
Corcoran was a nice teacher to have this semester. She puts the powerpoints online and gives a lot of extra credit throughout the semester. There is a weekly assignment every week for 20 points, but all the answers are on quizlets, so it is an easy way to gain points in the class if you struggle on a test.
google the hw questions to find the answers. papers every once in awhile that are easy. take notes in class and youll do good on tests.
She is amazing and knowledgable! Her lectures are super clear, her expectations are clear. She is great about answering questions and makes the material interesting. She has been my favorite professor so far. Take good notes, study and you'll do great on tests. They are multiple choice and she doesn't try to trick you! She keeps material new!
I really enjoyed taking Mrs. Corcoran this semester. She was very kind and I found her lectures to be interesting and informative. Attendance is important if you want to pass this class. She leaves part of the PowerPoints blank so you have to be present during lecture to fill in the important keywords. I'd take her again in a heartbeat.
She was super sweet and got excited by little things and it was super cute. You can tell she really enjoyed teaching the class. It was a little boring at times but she put in interesting facts. She gives .5 extra credit to your grade if you miss less than 2 times. Her tests were a little hard but the weekly homework made up for it.
Professor Corcoran ran a good online class. She was very clear on what she wanted. Warning about the course: don't take it expecting to put in only an hour or so a week. It was a lot more work than I expected. That being said, if you're up to date on world news/history, this class becomes significantly easier.
Not worth stressing to not take her, but will not be a fun time. Participation quizzes almost daily and insanely boring lectures always daily. Easy A, but painful for the soul.
Deb is super kind. She made her lectures very available online during all of this pandemic stuff and gave great feedback on assignments. I would and am taking more of her classes.
Im sure professor corcoran is a great professor just not in the GRY 100 online block class. There are no lectures, just powerpoint slides that barely say anything on them. The quizzes are pretty much weekly but theyre super hard questions. 30 questions in 30 minutes, no time to think so lots of guessing. Im barely getting by 10/10 dont recommend
Not a fan of this class. Take GRY100 with anyone else. Quizzes on lockdown, 30 questions 30 minutes. SO difficult. lots of homework. Takes alot of time. a 100 level class should not be this difficult
Not a bad option for a gen ed. All the homework is easy. Discussion board weekly but you don't have to reply to classmates which is nice. The quizzes should 100% allow for more time but they're doable. You just gotta through a guessing frenzy in those last few minutes of the time limit and hope for the best. Very organized and gives good feedback.
Horrible professor, extremely dry and boring lectures. Pick a different Gen Ed course. Very unforgiving about late assignments too. I was very polite when asking to submit missed assignments, and she gave a very rude response. If you miss one class, you will miss a lot. Just reads her dry presentations and expects you to learn it all.
So if you miss more than 4-5 class periods total, you will be lost. She is an okay teacher, a little boring tbh, but she offers a lot of extra credit if you are willing to do the work for it. The homework is meh, lecture is meh, but she does try. However, I don't like geography that much so it is what it is.
I really liked the professor, but you definitely have to work in this class. It is NOT an easy A. Every test is on the lock down browser and usually covers 2-3 study guides that you NEED to fill out and study in order to get a good grade. The extra credit offered is a lot of work for little points. The HW and discussions weren't bad.
It was harder than my 300 level classes and required SO MUCH studying in order to pass the tests. The tests were on lockdown. Each test was typically over 3 chapters and we were supposed to study like 30+ pages of powerpoints for each chapter. Do not recommend if you are taking for easy class. It was about so much more than knowing where places are
