She is rude and her lectures don't relate to the book or have any organization. Her powerpoint is not on the test and she is ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE HER! You will fail.

Made the lab way too hard. My lecture was a ton easier. Speaks too quiet. Very boring.
Dardis is okay--as a person, she's very nice and sweet. As a teacher, she can sometimes get boring. She talks very, very soft. Sometimes you have trouble staying awake. But her tests are not hard at all! I only studied for about 10 minutes and got a B on the first test.
This is a great teacher if you are willing to learn. It is not a class where ou do nothing and come out with an A. Your grade will reflect how much effort you put into studying. She gives you all the information is a clear way. It's your job to study and apply it. I recommend her to everyone!
Good teacher. Highly recommended!

great teacher. respects students
Dr. D is fricken awesome! Very dry sense of humor, but very funny if you know how to take her. Takes the time to get to know her students, and actually listens and responds to what they have to say. Her tests are exactly like her notes, and sometimes even easier. Highly recommended to Biology majors...Dr. D knows her stuff!
GREAT PROFESSOR...SHE IS AWESOME. VERY FRIENDLY AND LIKES TO GET TO KNOW HER STUDENTS..HER TESTS ARE EXACTLY LIKE HER NOTES AND SHE GIVES YOU A STUDY GUIDE. SHE DOES FIELD TRIPS TOO...IF YOU TRY THE LEAST BIT YOU'LL GET AN A....HIGHY RECOMMENDED!!!
Great teacher!! you will actually learn something about biology in her class...I took her lab too...got B's in both....take her.
Awesome teacher....looks great for her age!!
I don't like her at all, I was so looking forward to having biology but she made me hate it. Her voice is so soft that it makes you want to go to sleep, I don't recommend her at all. I recommend Dr. Pendarvis! he makes the class interesting.

Great teacher. Not only to a have her as a teacher, I worked for her for 3 years. I wasn't working for her when I took her class, but started after that. SHE'S NOT A HARD TEACHER, SHE JUST REQUIRES YOU TO STUDY. IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO STUDY DON'T TAKE HER. IF YOU CAN PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS AND STUDY YOU WILL BE FINE. IF YOU EVER HAVE PROBLEMS IN CLASS SHE WILL HELP YOU. SHE'S NOT AS MEAN AS SOME PEOPLE MAKE HER OUT TO BE. GREAT PERSON, GREAT BOSS, AND GREAT TEACHER.
She sucks! I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to take this teacher. Her voice is too soft, not willing to help students who ARE willing to help themselves, dosen't explain requirements thoroughly, quizzes and tests not relevant to notes given in class!
I did not like her at all. I was so glad to get out of her class. She replaced my original teacher and I was so sorry she did. Stay away from her class!
I'm a pre med major and had to drop this class! The teachers notes are not relavent to her tests and she is unwilling to help students who want to help themselves. I wouldn't recommend taking her to anyone, unless you can teach yourself!
great person. easy class, all you have to do is study a little... but thats why your in college. very sweet and helpful!!
test come exactly from lectures. great teacher. reviews at end of section for test. uses powerpoint as backup and gives time to copy from it. you just have to put a little effort in and your sure to get an A.
She is a great teacher she explains everything very clearly and makes sure you are well prepared for the test! her test are great the correspond with everything you learned in class and she gives you a study guide, if you know everything on the study guide you will do fine!! i have an A!
Dr. Dardis is very, very helpful to student athletes. She always encourages you to come to her office for any help that you may need. However, test are challenging and need a lot of studying. So STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!
Nice person, test are hard and material doesnt really come from notes. STUDY A LOT
She is great for giving a good bit of extra credit and plenty of quizzes, but you really have to study for her tests and read your textbook because if not you will not receive a good grade.
Good teacher. Only had her for a lab but I thought she was interesting and enthusiastic.
She was a very good teacher. She was interested in what she taught so she made the class much more interesting. Her test cover most of what she went over. I would suggest taking her.
I don't learn well from powerpoints and feel if I have to come to class I should be taught and not read to..If you like surprises, especially surprise tests that make you drop a letter grade (from a healthy A to a healthy B) this teacher is for you!! have fun and good luck
She is a good teacher. I never had to open the book for her class. i hardly studied and i still made an A in the class. all you have to do is go to class and pay attention. when she teaches from her powerpoint just read over them that day.....or at least the ones that she went over. thats pretty much all you need.
I personally didn't like Prof. Dardis. She wants too much group participation and really gets angry when people don't ask questions. I tend to prefer a professor that, if there are no questions, moves on. Throwing a fit in front of your students is hardly professional. Be prepared to study HARD for her tests, too!
Go to every class. She lets you print the notes out on blackboard, but don't just highlight b/c she repeats everything that is on the powerpoint. The amt of notes can be overwelming when studying.Stay focused. Write down the extra stuff that she may mention about the subject. 9 times out of 10, it will show up on the test. Study hard for her test.
She explains things well but her tests are very hard. She does not give much homework and puts all notes/powerpoints on blackboard to be printed out.
Dr. D is awesome. One of my favorite professors. If you joke with her, she's going to joke back. Tests are hard, but I dont really study. They do come straight from her slides though. I recommend taking notes on the side as well. A few online quizzes, but for the most part tests are the main grades.
She is an awesome teacher. She is very helpful and she tries to help everyone understand. She is more than willing to take questions, but she hates people to leave her class,(which is understandable!).She knows her stuff and her tests are pretty fair and they cover everything on the slides.Bonus is also offered.Came out with an A, so definitely take!
she is a very nice professor. puts all the notes on blackboard but the test are pretty hard. you just have to study alot to make a good grade. most people failed the first test in my class i think the average was like a 50 or something. no one has every recieved a 100 on the test in my class!
She is a nice lady but i personally don't like her class. I have not missed one day of class and i study for AT LEAST 5 hours for every test and i haven't made above a D on her test. The good thing is that she gives a lot of quizes online so that you can bring your grade up but i wouldnt suggest taking her class! I have A's and a C in her class
her test are really easy if you listen in class and write down what she says.. ive never made below a B on her test.. GREAT TEACHER!!
Great professor! Go to class, pay attention, take notes, study... and you WILL NOT make D's (as suggested in prior ratings). She teaches in a very effective manner and is easy to understand. I would recommend anyone taking Biology to try to schedule Dr. Dardis.
Personally, I did not like the class. I did not agree on the teaching style. I noticed alot of the things she said in class did not correlate with the book so, that made it difficult to distinguish what answer to mark on the test. However, I studied less for my final then many other test and made my highest grade then, a B.
If you take Dr.Dardis' class you will definitly learn a lot. I would not advise you to take her class if you have another hard class and want to make an A in her class. Expect to study alot and been confused by a few questions on her tests. It's possible to do very well in her class if you study study study!
Not an easy class, but a good teacher. Tries to make sure you understand the material. Tests are fair and NOT confusing. If you don't like biology, go ahead and take this teacher.
I had been out of school for some time. this is the professor you want to take if you want to become the best doctor or nurse in the profession. She is fair. Her test are fair and you must study and listen to her when she says this is a test question. I had a very good year. Thanks, Dr. Dardis
She's a wonderful teacher! And is more than willing to help you understand the work.
I took her for the summer semster 08. She is a great teacher who is more than willing to help you. She even took us on this awesome field trip to the Louisiana wetlands. I highly recommend you take her for ANY class. Thanks Dr. D!
i really like her just make sure you come to class she covers alot of material but she explains it very well
I really enjoyed Dr. Dardis' class. She is very nice and keeps the class alive. Must attend class. I would recommmend her to anyone. Thanks Dr. Dardis for a great summer.
probably the best bio teacher at selu! i loved her class, she helped me alot and trys to make sure everyones on the same page. her test are hard but i means its biology. just study the powerpoints take notes & definitely read the chapters and youll do finee. i got an A!
She was really helpful. If you go to class you will understand the material. definately take her.
Very rude.. Made a B in her class.. but hated every second of it.
her powerpoints are useless!!!! her tests dont match up with them. she expects you to get everything she says but doesnt repeat it. DONT TAKE HER!!!
do not take this professor. She explains well yes! but it does not match the material she puts on her test. The powerpoints dont help either. If you work or have a life other than biology DONT TAKE HER!!!!!!
Good class, Had to work for my "A" but I got it by the skin of my teeth. I think she tests according to her lecture...Book is good for reference, but not needed for heavy studying. She is willing to help you if you need it. Cool chica, hard material by nature, but she is a good teacher.
i dont understand why everyone is giving her bad comments, i rly liked her. and she helped me out ALOT! she even let me turn in stuff late & she was very reasonable. i always studied the slides and the notes i added and did fine on her test. quizes were online (:i have heard that she changes from semester to semester so i might have just lucked up.
She was one of the hardest teachers in the world. I studied day and night for her test and still would make a bad grade. I even did all the online exams. HA no help she doesnt like trying to explains things either you get it or you dont.
omg....I dont know how I got in this class but clearly i was place in here by some higher being....She is horrible...its easy to understand the material she teaches but she makes the test hard on purpose...no matter how long and hard i study the tests are horrible...STAY AWAY FROM DR. D and im an A student....JUST DONT DO IT
She is very clear about what is going to be on upcoming test. She uses power points and post them on black bored for student use. She is willing to help anyone who comes to her, and will answer any question a student will ask. She is also a very nice person in general.
She will make you think so that you can understand what will be ask of you on her test. She is wonderful and very caring!
This is my second time taking Gbio and I figured it'd be easy since I'm taking it again WRONG Her test are extremely tricky and she doesn't tell us some of the stuff she puts on the test..at least she didnt for her morning class She always makes mistakes on her test!as in there are 2 answers but she refuse to believe it. DOnt take her the CAvg 60s
Hard.Hard. HARD. Well i think you get the point...Class avg for every test was in the 60's. So when you enter this class you better study Biology like its your religion because your gonna need it i promise you...
Don't be fooled by the horrible comments...Dr. Daris really is a great teacher. I think everyone has such a hard time because she expects you to apply the information she taught in class to take the test (instead of just recalling things from your notes). She's very caring and a great Christian person. She is wonderful at explaining things.
She teaches the material well and doesn't speed through it. Her tests are rather hard though. If you want to make an A you have to read the book and study study study.
To be fair to both student and teacher... She is a hard teacher, the tests are hard unless you have READ the textbook, studied the notes, wrote down the extra notes for the lecture, and did all the study objectives. She is willing to help sometimes and has lots of study help opportunities, I found her lectures boring, but she is a nice lady.
Wonderful teacher. She has to be the easiest that I have taken yet.She actually went too slow for my taste, but for people who aren't too great in biology, she is the right person for you.She will repeat and explain as many times as you need her to.You don't need the book, or even to study much- go to class and just listen. Very understanding woman
She teaches like she is teaching to kids she explains a lot but when it comes to test she is brutal. She asks question from nowhere. Her teaching standard doesn't go together with her tests. she teaches easy stuffs and asks difficult and confusing stuffs in tests.
a nice lady. Her lectures are boring. Not many chances for points just exams. one extra credit opp. and it was more or less a pop quiz. test are multiple choice but are extremely difficult. Class average is failing. Can't figure out what she is going to ask on a test. She says"this will be on the test" usually not. dont take her. must READ the book
Very easy teacher, teaches what you need to know and is still interesting. If you can't pass her class, you probably shouldn't be in college. I haven't had a teacher at any university as easy and thorough as she was. Very caring, didn't have to study just looked over notes before test and did well. No need for the book, she explains it all.
I remember enjoying biology. She did not enforce that memory. She's an okay teacher but don't expect her to inspire you to be a biologist. Her tests are simple enough, just read the book and do the test objectives and you can pass.
I loved Dr. Dardis! She explained everything in simple terms, and would specifically point out things on the test. She will do anything to help people better explain the subject. I would highly recommend her; she made me love biology!
She is a nice teacher and is always willing to help. Although her tests are made up of critical thinking problems. If you plan to take her be prepared to participate in class discussions.
She is a great teacher! She really makes you think, and she explains things very well and is always open to any questions. I went to class, took notes, did the learning objectives and used the book just a little and I made a 94. I had to work for my A, but she made it fun. I recommend her!
overall she's a good teacher and helps you learn a lot. gives homework and quizzes to help your grades and drops lowest test score i would recommend her!
Dr. Dardis is a wonderful teacher. She is extremely difficult, but it ends up helping in the end. Quizzes usually every week, homework is picked up occassionally. Be sure to do the homework to get all the points possible! Tests pretty much come from notes, but be sure to read through your notes after every class and keep up with the book! It helps!
She's a great teacher and you can do well in her class if you go to class, read the book, study, and do your homework. Her test can be tricky, but if you really prepare for it you will do fine. I'd recommend her. She's also a really sweet lady, and tells the class more information about the class if you're there on Fri.
Very helpful.
She could probably write her own textbook. She is super smart and a good teacher.
She knows her material and exoects you to learn and know it. She gives quizes and homework that you need to do becuase it will help you in the end. Her test are kind of hard. She goes over slides in class and requires you to read the chapters. She is not a breeze but is a wonderful teacher and is willing to help.
Scared the crap out of me the first few weeks and would make you feel like an idiot then suddenly she changed into the sweetest lady ever. She knows a lot of information and can tell you some really interesting things. Her slides are fun and informal, but not informal enough. You need to go and read the chapters that go with the slides.
She is very interesting and can be side tracked easily. She tries to explain the material until you understand it. But, she has a problem with staying to a schedule, so the grades are messed up sometimes. Other than that READ THE MATERIAL and do the assignments. Without it you'll fail.
She is a nice person, but i would NOT take her. My friend warned me about her but I stuck with her because I did good on the first quiz, then after the drop date she gave us her first test and it was all down hill from there. She explains like you have a masters in biology. Would not recommend her!
Good professor goes along with learning objectives
Amazing teacher. She is definitely one of my favorites! Her test are not hard at all. You just have to study your notes and read the chapters and youll do fine! I learned so much from this class! Def. recommend her! I made an A!
OMG DR. D IS DA FRIGGING BEST SHE MADE ME REMEMBER WHY I LOVED BIOLOGY QUIZES ARE ALL EASY CLASSES ARE NOT BORING AT ALL EVENTHOUGH MOST OF DA MATERIAL IS SHE MAKES THE MATERIAL INTERESTING I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HER
She knows what she's talking about. Very intelligent woman, BUT you have to go to every class in order to pass, don't get behind AND read the chapters a few times. She's pretty hard, and sometimes I have NO idea where she gets her test questions from. Don't take her..
She teaches the subject pretty well and you understand everything, but the test questions dont really relate very well to her lectures. She'll also put you in a horrible mood with her attitude so if you must take her, do so later in the day. I had her in the morning and I would be irritated for the rest of the day.
she is SUPER hard!!! i had her for an early class also. she doesnt explain everything to well. she kinda expects you to know what she is telling you. i emailed hr about 30-35 times throughout the the semester needing help and i only got one reply..which was at thevery end of the semester. i would NOT recommend her to anyone that doesnt LOVE biology
Best teacher at SELU!!!
She is so sweet and energetic. She is very passionate about what she teaches. Holds your attention
I love this teacher! She really is very sweet! She has most of quizzes online with 2 tries! She also makes you do articles but they are easy and help boost your grade!! Her test are not too hard but you have to study! she really does a great job teaching everything! She doesn't move fast either! TAKE HER!!
She is hard. I attended every class and took notes and still barely passed. She uses the text book alot. Is not an easy class unless you actually like bio.
Dr. Dardis is a great prof. who cares about what she does. She is very professional in her mannerisms and speech, so don't take her if your vocab (biology-related or otherwise) is lacking. I had her for GBIO 151 & 153, and most of her quizzes and tests are MC, but she requires paragraph-form answers, too. Be ready to COMPREHEND, not just memorize.
Dardis is an extremely sweet teacher who will do her best to help you. She gets tons of emails on a daily basis, so her emails are slow. Her tests are only extremely difficult if you don't study (which I would advise you to do, as she uses both the textbook and the lectures). She provides numerous opportunities to improved grades though.
GREAT TEACHER!!! I loved having her! She is extremly helpful and really wants to see her students do well! :)Just make sure you do her learning objectives! ohhh and the best part about her is she drops your lowest test score!!
An AWESOME teacher! I have never been to good in biology but she made it easy and fun. I struggled on the first two tests but with her dropping the lowest test grade i ended up with a B which was plenty good enough for me.. i would 100% recommend her to anyone taking biology. Its only an easy class if you study just like any other class.
She has to be one of the sweetest teachers I've had. Genuinely a wonderful person, and very knowledgeable on the subject. Tests are based off lectures and material in books (so make sure to read the book for tests!). She drops the lowest exam, and also the lowest quiz. Easy to get a B/A if you make reasonable efforts.
She is very nice. I was a little intimidated at first, but if you read the book, study your notes, and attend class, you should do fine. She is very helpful and willing to help during her office hours. I learned a lot in her class. I would suggest taking her.
She is such a good teacher! Highly recommended! If you read the chapters, do her learning objective study guides for each test and go to class! easy A/B! She is very helpful and enjoy her class even if you hate biology
Tough material, good professor. 4 exams, 1 final, pop quizzes, online homework assignments, and 1 paper. Class attendance is necessary. You can opt out of the final. I made a B.
She treated us like we were in kindergarten. No one wants to take SE 101 anyway and she made it extra boring. Easy class as long as you do all of you assignments which are straight from the textbooks. Easy assignments, just a lot of busy work.
She was an okay professor. In order to pass this class you MUST read the book. She gives powerpoints but the majority of the information on the tests comes from the book so it would be in your best interest to read it. She was okay, I managed to get a B.
This class is interesting. I learn just when it comes to the tests I'm lost. You HAVE to make time to study. Powerpoints do not help. I've taught myself from the book. Tests are complicated. She's a good teacher when it comes to explaining, just not at making tests.
She is an okay teacher, but my lab teacher said we are really behind in the material we are supposed to cover. She gets side tracked really easily and goes off on tangents. Her tests aren't too bad, as long as you study and read the textbook; class, on the other hand, is boring and hard to stay awake for an hour and 15.
Tests are a little difficult. Go to her if you need help with anything. Very sweet lady at her office.
Deborah Dardis is an absolute disaster. She's a good teacher as far as explaining material well goes, but when it comes to other crucial things, like posting important things online, she's the worst. Very irresponsible. She gives a study guide for the test, but usually only the night before. Not recommended at all.
She's such a sweet lady and made medical micro super easy to understand. She's extremely clear and wants you to succeed more than anything. Would definitely recommend her to anyone!
do not take! this woman is so irresponsible and unprofessional! very slow at posting things or just doesn't post them at all. tells you what to study then tests you on something else.
She was very sweetv and easy to talk to. however, her class was insane. No matter how i studied i always did bad. Its like she pulled her test questions out of no where. They had nothing to do with the textbook and nothing to do with her study guide. Do not take her online!
She is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't help students outside of class, doesn't answer emails concerning the class, and enjoys singling out people on a personal vendetta for her own enjoyment. Absolutely AVOID her if you can.
Seemed nice enough, but very unhelpful as far as test material. She always posted a "study guide," but it NEVER had and anything to do with the questions asked on the tests. You MUST read every single chapter page-to-page in order to get a good grade. Even then, it is not very likely because of the difficulty of her tests. Don't take her online. =[
I took this lady's zoo online course. Mistake. She has not answered at least 5 emails I've sent. The complications I had, she provided no help for. She doesn't answer questions. She is the only reason I haven't made a 4.0 this semester. None of the books material is on the test. You are at the mercy of wherever she gets her info.
Don't even bother scrolling down to read more reviews. Stop here. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR ANY REASON WHAT SO EVER. She is HORRIBLE. She is the reason I did not get a 4.0 this semester. I did get a B, but I still do not recommend her to ANYONE. Doesn't respond to emails, takes forever to grade everything, she is just completely unorganized.
She was very nice but had hard tests. I sent her an email and never got a reply. If you miss a day you get called out. Do not be late to class. Otherwise fairly straight forward. She disagreed with the book a lot though.
I can't believe what people are saying Dr. Dardis on this site. If you study, you WILL EASILY pass her tests. She gives you a lot of information in her lectures and assigns online homework (you'll read the chapter to complete this). Skim the chapter and review her PowerPoints to EASILY get a B. Just don't skip class; she'll lower your grade.
I'm a Biology major and I have to say that she is my favorite professor I have taken so far. Tests follow the learning objectives. Do those and you will make good grades on your tests. Homework on Connect is required, do it. Easy A. I loved this class.
She was the best at explaining topics, and she took the time to word things in as simple of a way as possible. Tests are easy as long as you study, and I never made below a B. She was super enthusiastic about the entire course. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
I am a Bio major and found myself struggling in her class. Her tests are hard and you need to start studying immediately! She comes across as a bit rude and unwilling to help but she does help. Her help was just not helpful to me. GOOD LUCK!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! She never answers emails, her test questions are meant to completely confuse you, and she can't calculate your grade correctly so you think you have one grade but you might have another.
I took Dr. D online for GBIO I. Not only did I find her rude, I found her insulting. She didn't have clear grading criteria. In fact, on her syllabus she said she could change the grading system because it was not a legal contract. THOSE WERE HER WORDS! I still haven't received an email back from the first week of classes. She's awful. DON'T TAKE!
She was inaccessible and would not let you see your tests to see what you got wrong or why. Some of the test questions were written with poor pedagogy, some egregious mistakes on the study guides, typos abounded, and material from future chapters unfairly on the tests from previous chapters.
Great teacher! GBIO 153 for science majors has really taught me SO much compared to my GBIO 151 teacher.... If you are a science major and are going into more biology classes after this TAKE HER
Took this online. Very organized class. If you do the work on time you can make an A. Tests are little tough. (Hint: Just google it)
I took medical microbiology with her and I advise everyone to come to class. I would also say to record the lectures because there is a lot of content. Prepare to study, and if you do you will do fine
Best teacher ever ! Ask her for help she will go out of her way if she knows you re going to study.
She NEVER emails anyone back. She also grades hard but the homework makes up for it.
Doctor Dardis is perceived as a difficult professor for an intro biology course, but you will definitely learn! I took her summer online course, and half of our class failed. But don't let this scare you; if you read and internalize the readings assigned, you will do fine. She went out of our way to help such lazy students. Stay on top of your work
Dr. Dardis tells you what she expects. She emails you back within a 48 hr period, she lets everyone know this in the syllabus. The test are tough but you need to really study the chapters in order to pass. This class is not an easy A in any aspect, but if you put the time in you will pass. Good luck!
I had never made a C in my life until I took this class. If you do not study or if you cram you WILL fail. There are always homework assignments to be done, too. Most of the time she did not finish teaching the material and we had to go home and teach ourselves before the test at the next class meeting (2 days). Knows the material but cannot teach.
I have taken Dr. Dardis for GBIO 253 and MIC 205. She's an amazing teacher! You must study the material as you go, or you will not do well. I had trouble in micro, so I met with her and she advised me to rewrite my notes after class. I did that and brought my D up to a B! She really cares and wants students to do well, but you have to work for it!
This is by far the worst professor I've had in my life. I have two prior degrees AND have taught at the college level, and I would not wish her on my worst enemy. She is aloof, unsympathetic to her students even when they're trying, she never answers her emails, and frequently skips out on out of class meetings. Class average was a 60 exam 1.
Four tests, ten assignments of homework, and about five quizzes. Tough, but fair, grader. She does a great job teaching the material, but don't think you are going to walk into a test and do great without showing up or reviewing the slides. If the entire class is doing poorly, she'll make some extra credit available to help out.
guaranteed its an online class and quizlet is available, she does throw a few essay questions in the test and its timed and sometimes you cant find all the questions on quizlet(kinda stressful). she is very understanding and helpful. overall the class is easy if you actually skim read the chapters and apply yourself.
Dr. Dardis was harder than expected. Book use and attendance are mandatory. Her tests were hard too. She'd test on general and specific concepts. An A isn't impossible, but it's not going to be easy. She's a nice lady but this class was rough.
Took her for medical micro 223, was very hard just because it covers a lot of material. She is very good at explaining concepts & is willing to help any students who need it i found. Every piece of information is equally important so if you don't like studying dont take dardis. Overall i feel like i walked away with an excellent understanding.
Dardis grades very hard, but there are many opportunities to receive grades. I took this class online, and overall it was easy, but you still have to work for it. She takes forever to respond to email, and does not give very good feedback on most assignments. Personally, I would not recommend her.
Do you want to be a Biology major? Well too bad, because Deborah wants you to be. Seriously, this is a basic biology course for non-science majors. I study hard. I take great notes. I want this A so bad. TOO BAD. You need to have a really good comprehension of biology to pass this class. Don't expect to pass by studying and reading the material.
There are four tests including a cumulative final. The class isn't so bad and she gives online homework and quizzes in class. The tests are what get you, saying they are tough is an understatement. She tests on detail, so if you don't want to study a lot, don't take her. Short answer and the hardest multiple choice you've ever seen.
You think you know what you're doing on the tests, but if you don't know every detail of the subject matter frontwards and backwards, there is a pretty good chance you're gonna do poorly. Dardis wants you to have a complete understanding of microbiology. Anything less is not good enough. If you aren't planning on being a micro major, don't take her
She cares about her students. She asks if everyone understands each concept before moving on, and heavily encourages questions. She does a little in-class "quiz" where she asks questions and the class responds to ensure that we understand the material. I can easily recall everything she's taught so far, and explain it too. 10/10.
She explains concepts well, but then she overly complicates it. The tests are impossible. Study every day, spend three hours studying the night before and making a hundred note cards, show up to class, and still not do well on the exams. There are such minor details that she barely explains, yet she expects you to know up and down.
Takes forever to post grades. Many, many errors in grading. When these errors are discovered and asked to be fixed she gets annoyed and packs an attitude. Zero compassion for the students who are really trying.
Her tests were so insanely hard
Be polite and respectful, above all else. (Although I have heard she does not like being called "mam"; prefers being called "Dr. Dardis".) Participation and attendance are importaint to your grade. It is a bit difficult to find her outside of class, but it is possible.
Hardest class I have taken. I went to every single class, took notes, payed attention and still struggled with her tests because everyone question says: "a and b" "none of the above" "all of the above". Do not take
She does not grade things soon enough for you to decide whether or not you should stay in the class. She doesn't give good feedback and I have had to fight for a better grade on certain topics because her grading did not make sense. Her tests are extremely hard and she grades even harder
She has assignments due every Thursday at midnight, usually a quiz, discussion, or essay (a paragraph). She doesnt give study guides for tests and her PowerPoints are useless. Youre better off reading the book. Her tests have 2 or 3 write out in the beginning then multiple choice or matching for the rest. You cant go back and forth between quest
NO NOT TAKE DARDIS!!!!!!!!!!!! She is the worst professor I have ever had. She started out saying that you will not get an A no matter how hard you tried. She will single you out to answer a question and then laughs if you get it wrong. Average grade for first test was 52%. She is very unorganized and rude. I dropped as soon as I could.
Terrible. I would never take her again. She is proud that many students fail her tests. Tough grader, rude. Likes to embarrass you.
This class wasnt super difficult, but it does require lots of studying. The layout: four tests, lots of quizzes and homework assignments, and four short essays. Make sure you turn-in assignments on time, because she does not accept late admissions. She usually responds to emails, but going to her office is better if you want to talk to her.
Absolutely terrible. This is a basic bio class for non-biology majors and makes it way too difficult. By far the worst professor I have ever had. She gives terrible feedback and expects you to know everything already. If you have the choice, DO NO take her!
DO NOT TAKE! I made the mistake of taking her online course. She does not return emails, takes forever to post grades, her tests are impossible as well. She doesn't allow you to move between questions and when your slammed with essays back to back mid test (which is timed) it seems impossible. test: 6 essays, about 30 mult choice 1.25 hours
AWFUL DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
Deborah is hands down one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. For having a PhD in dirt, she is disgustingly arrogant and rude to her students. Not only did a pregnant student have to drop the class because Dardis got on her about using the restroom, but she would call you out if you coughed or sneezed in class. Don't take her if you can helpit
Actually the worst professor ever. She's rude, selfish, and clearly not tech-savvy. She doesn't care about her students' grades. Warns her students that they prob wont make an A. Doesn't respond to emails or is she any help when you're confused. May as well be an education major because i'm great at teaching myself things after her class
Do not take this class as if your life depended on it. She is horrible and I will NEVER take her class again. I am done with her.
I love Dr. Dardis! I had her for both Micro and Parasit. She makes you work for your grade, but she makes sure to let you know what you specifically need to focus on to pass her exams. She's awesome!
Worst teacher ever. DO NOT take her. She's rude, her tests are impossible and she doesn't know how to operate a computer. NEVER responds to emails. Just save yourself a TON of stress and pick literally anyone else.
DO NOT TAKE DEBORAH DARDIS! SHE IS HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE WORST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD. She is inconsiderate and rude. If you have to take her, plan on having to take tests OUTSIDE of class time and plan on teaching yourself. She is not tech-savvy. She does not care about you and probably won't reply to your ?s or emails.
This woman is by far the WORST INSTRUCTOR I have ever had!!!!! Her test don't correlate to the PowerPoints, she talks about things for 5 minutes then retracts saying don't worry about that bcs it won't be on test, doesn't respond to emails, everyone fails the test & her attitude is horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
Do not take her. Worst professor I have ever had. Started with more than 60 people and ended up with 20 people in the class at the end of the semester. She does not teach whatsoever, just tells you to read the textbook and the powerpoints are just the textbook word for word as well. Literally a narcissistic, rude, arrogant, ruthless person.
Abort mission.... She is very rude and her tests are difficult for no reason. She takes FOREVER to answer an email, and when she does , she is very rude. She goes on and on about giving her respect, but proceeds to make all of her students feel small and stupid. I did better in Chemistry than I am doing in this class right now... do NOT take her
Don't do it! She is so rude and rarely reply to emails! It's an online class and she is no help! We basically teach ourselves and I'm not sure why she's getting paid to teach this online when she's hardly responds to our questions and when she does we get chewed out. We've kept proof of her replies in our private GroupMe bc it's so awful.
This has by far been the WORST professor Ive had since Ive been in school. Not only is she rude, but her test are super hard for no reason. She tells you to study the book, the learning objectives, and the hints but the test is completely different. Its like instead of giving straightforward questions she makes them tricky. I wouldnt recommend.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. If you want to pass Micro 223 do not take her. Her tests are never what she says they are and she is very unprofessional when you try to reach out for help. I get with online school its different but she doesnt help out her students at all. Highly do not recommend taking this teacher ever.
One of the hardest professors Ive ever had. Her test are not accurate to what she teaches. She goes thru powerpoints so fast and is very unorganized when teaching. When asked if she could slow down, she gets offended and throws the Ive been teaching 15 years at you. News flash, students change. Teaching styles change. Adapt or quit teaching.
Awful. Class is online and has no lectures posted. You are supposed to read the chapters and teach yourself. No study guide and points come from 5 point homework,5 point quizzes, 100 point exams and no extra credit. Exams have a lot of matching and are not allowed to backtrack. Avoid her class.
I wasnt a huge fan of this professor. There were 4 exams which basically determined your grade. Quizzes about every other week but they were only worth 5 points, same with homework. The class wasnt particularly hard. Id recommend like 3 or 4 hours a week outside of class for study time for an A.
You were graded by very few things, test were tedious. Heavy lecture, but thats any nursing class.
A TON of people dropped the class. If you email her, you have a 50/50 chance of her responding and if she does respond expect it to be condescending and very....well, I cant type the wording but you get what i'm trying to say. I wish I could say more than 350 characters... If you have the option, CHOOSE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!
Kind of a weirdo, I would never take her again. She goes on weird tangents that can last up to 10 minutes every other class about how long shes been teaching, people not paying attention, whatever. She was a much bigger defecit to my education than any person on their phone or doing whatever in class.
Dr. Dardis is a wonderful professor who has years of genuine experience she is able to use to reliably and effectively teach. As long as you pay attention to lectures, take notes, and genuinely engage with Dr. Dardis and communicate, she is one of the best professors you can have and truly a pleasure to meet.
She was an ok professor, her tests would purposely trick students. The first two tests I failed, even though i studied for days for each test. She speaks in a monotone voice so her lectures were so boring, and sometimes she would go over time trying to fit in more lectures. If you can, avoid taking her.
I feel like i just went through war taking this class. This class was horrible. I don't even know how she is still employed to be quite honest. Half of my class had to drop her because her tests are so unbelievably tricky. When emailing her, you get attitude. She goes off on tangents in lectures. I would not recommend her to anyone.
This class is tough, but if you study you will be fine! Professor Dardis is a decent professor. She has a lot of experience and is passionate about her career! She kinda sucks at answering emails, but will gladly answer any questions in class. She can go on some tangents about students not engaging but that's just her opinion lol. Would take again!
DO NOT take her class! The tests are extremely hard. What she tells you to study is not on the test. She rude when responding to emails. She is horrible please take my advice and believe on what I am saying to save your time! With taking the test online she doesn't allow you to back to the question. Im positive she wants you to fail.
This ladies course was all over the place. Majority of the assignments had messed up due dates and some of the assignments wouldn't be opened when they should have been open. When you email her about these problems, she seems to not care about the situation by simply responding with one word or two words.
One of the toughest classes I've taken. Professor Dardis' tests are incredibly tricky, and she can be quite rude. However, Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for prep. Avoid if possible.
I would not recommend this professor as other people said, very unorganized. She talks down on everyone as if we are incompetent but in fact, she just doesn't teach us well.
This teacher is a complete joke. Worst professor I've ever had. So disrespectful and passive aggressive. Doesn't respond to emails until it's too late to get an answer. Acts like she cares about her student but really doesn't. I have no idea how she is still a teacher here. Doesn't help students succeed. waste of time and money to take this class
This is not a teacher I would take if you would like to pass. The way she gives the exams are extremely in depth and detailed. She tricks you on purpose with her questions and answers. She repeatedly tells you "I want to see you succeed" then turns around and rants at students and tells us we are going to get things wrong or fail on an exam.
When I took her bio lab, she had an international grad student teaching for the most part. I passed the course with an A, but it was sometimes difficult to understand the grad student due to her thick accent and little voice projection. The tests were pretty straight to the point.
Shes okay. The tests are difficult and most of the little details. DO NOT USE THE TEXTBOOK, only focus on the material she goes over in class or youre wasting your time. Do not miss class because you will get behind, the powerpoints dont have all the information needed for test, she goes over the info in class. The test get easier after drop date!!
I was scared to take Dr. Dardis when first reading her reviews but after the first class I learned she was nothing like the reviews. She is a very sweet lady who expects you to work for your grade since she knows you're going into the nursing field. As long as you show up to class and take notes you should do fine. I thoroughly enjoyed her class
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. It is not an easy class but she tries to make it as simple as possible. YOU DONT NEED THE TEXTBOOK. If you go to class, and take notes as she is teaching from the power points you will do well in the class, and that is what you need to study for tests. First and second tests are the hardest.
She is awful! Very rude over email, that's if she even responds to you. Tricks you on exams by making up scenarios that you have no way of knowing. Basically told me my essay questions were correct but I didn't use the right words she was looking for so it was marked wrong. Only graded on homework, quizzes, and exams. No fall back grades.
Dr. Dardis was overall ok. She was very difficult in a sense though. She words things very weird almost like she is trying to trick you. Our whole class missed a question because of the way she worded it and she still wouldn't budge. She won't make or break you, but take Luquette if you can. Had homework, quizzes, 3 tests and a cumulative final.
Your grade is based almost entirely on tests which by the way have no bonuses. She has been rude over email and is very less than accommodating. Do not take her if her course isn't your forte because in no way does she try to motivate or help you pass, which like I said she has no bonuses and gives no study guidance. Do not recommend!!!
You know its bad when i mention the name "Deborah Dardis" to other faculty members and they go "ugh/ oh no". DO NOT TAKE HER! Shes rude, does not care, tests are made to trick you, and the grading scale is designed for tests to make or break you (400 test pts/ 150 outside pts). Save yourself the headache and take anyone but Deborah Dardis, trust me
Was truly one of the best professors I have ever had. I wish she taught the second lab class, because I would for sure take her again.
Pretty funny in class, If study you'll do good and take notes on what she says over the power points. Sends out the essay questions before , so you get an easy 10 points. Make sure you go into detail dont leave anything out. Overall great tho love her
Pretty funny in class. Not a tough teacher at all, if you study the learning objectives and the power points you will do fine in this class.
