This is a great professor. She loves her job and teaches very well. If you attend every class there is no reason not to have an A in this class. Everything is very well explained.I wish there were more teachers like her.
Caution. This teacher is probably OK, if she likes you. For some reason she disliked me and I could do nothing right. I got admonished in class, when I gave the correct answer. She has a temper, too, which was inappropriately displayed on one occasion. Also talks about aspects that have very little to do with online law, like real estate and divorc
She was extremely rude and difficult and would take points off assignments for no reason at all. She was very disappointed in the grades for her exam but that was because she is ridiculous. I would not take her class again.
Great teacher ! She loves her job and she is very helpful if you have a problem. She is very specific about discussion posts and assigments,so make sure you follow the instructions and you will do great !
Received an A in the class but it was not from her help or teaching. I took her class online and the amount of reading was unreal. I am not a law student and she makes you write case briefs with little or no examples. Have fun.
She was a great professor. She was very helpful and always explained if more clarification was needed. I would take another class with her anytime.
Professor Eldridge is great in the classroom, but is slow in grading, with feedback being generally 2 weeks behind. We had to write a brief and a contract, and there was little guidance as to what was really expected. I liked her lectures, but the administration of the class and the feedback given was a bit lacking.
Thanks to her, on time has new meaning. I was late w/paper, internet prob. My paper would not go thru @ 11:53,4,5-I emailed it 11:58-she wasn't going to accept it. After much emailing, she decided she would.1 month later & into the new semester it was graded horribly low, cost me my B; should have listened to others on Rate.com. I'm an A/B student.
I have never had a worse experience with a professor. I heard terrible things about her. I believe she singles people out. I should have listened. No matter what she cheats you of points or gives yo none at all. It's no surprise her rating is this low. Please lower it more.
This professor provides the most terrible experience in a classroom which you will ever witness. From yelling at the students to completely lying about the purpose and cause for assignments of a course not aimed at a particular set of students. Dishonesty in academia is terrible. From the professor: S/B criminal. Can we post examples?
I was in the same class as the below poster. There were only TWELVE people in this class. Four dropped before the third week. Out of the eight left I think maybe six finished in a class capped at 30. This professor is horrible and should not be teaching. Definitely not her forte'. Will the college read this and hopefully replace her?
I am one of five who left this class after having insults hurled at me and others by this Professor. Emails had her telling me to drop the matter, accusing me of lack of interest (after one week) bringing up my 'discussing my options' with someone else. Obviously she is well-protected by the college or 'someone' and uses this to pick on students.
I am currently in a class with this professor I am going to drop. The class is VERY small. I asked for help and she did refuse same. Another email from her sent me here to see what was what. I deeply regret registering for this class. Never had anything like this before. It's an awful experience for a college student to bear. 1st visit to this site
This professor is a sinking ship. No one will register for her class so advisors place unsuspecting students from other programs in same. Otherwise her classes would all be cancelled. Even with six transplanted students her class barely achieved enrollment to carry on. I would say these are advisor forces and unaware people and a few pets. Messy.
I had her. She was nice to me but hated my friend for unk reasons. Gave him TWO points on a 20 point question. Seemed to enjoy holding his grade over his head so that he felt like he owed her his lousy 'b'. I got an A. Like I said, she seemed to like me. Wow. Big deal. Just do the right thing. Don't take this professor. You WILL regret it.
no comment. read the rest. we all came to report on what happened.
This professor graduated from cumberland school of law and made pointed references to her southern and other familial loyalties. That is probably why some people felt singled out. Not her kind. DO NOT GO THERE. Take another professor or change majors
Pretty much what everyone else said. She does not grade fairly and I would HIGHLY suggest to avoid her classes. I don't understand how she could get away with what she does. DONT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
I too do NOT know how she can get away with arbitrary, capricious assignments and grading. She explained away no-common-sense assignments with words which have no bearing on reality. In this fashion she can wield a mighty pen of capriciousness and seeming vindictiveness where you are left stunned by the grades you receive. It's UNREAL but too real.
If this class wasn't required for my major, I would have dropped it already - a month into the summer modmester, regardless of the money I'd lose for withdrawing now. Assignments are not clearly explained, points are deducted for completely asinine reasons, and the entire class seems like an afterthought tacked on to the Sustainability B.A.S.
Same as the rest. Arbitrary, confusing, difficult.
I dropped this class, too. I have never dropped a college class before. This was the worst experience I ever had with a Professor. She's unfair, argumentative and autocratic. A true despot over your education. I hope they show her the door.
I will pass this class but it has been a miserable experience. My team partner dropped this class and I wish I would have. I have never enjoyed a class less. Learning should be a better experience than this.
She was always helpful and very responsive. I never had to wait long for responses and she was clear with her instructions and explained her grading so that I understood where I went wrong. I'm surprised by the other comments I'm seeing.
Professor Eldridge is great. She grades tough but she gives good feedback and always answered my questions quickly.
This class was tuff; however, Prof. Eldridge will communicate with you and do everything possible to help you through the course. You will not be spoon fed answers. As a student it is up to us to stand and take the initiative to learn and if we cannot then it is up to us to seek help. Prof. Eldridge will give the help needed to succeed.
Professor Elridge is one of the best teachers i have had, she is very helpful and she explains all the material very clearly. i have taken her for 2 different classes and in both she was GREAT! she is a strict professor but she teaches very well and she helps you with whatever you need so to get a good grade is really up to the student.
I'm not sure what all the negative comments are about because this teacher is great. she grades fairly and she teaches all the material you will need to pass this class. she responds to your emails right away and is willing to help you with any material you don't understand. i really recommend this teacher, she is AMAZING!
I have taken this professor for several different classes and loved her. All of these negative comments are probably from lazy students who aren't willing to do the necessary work, and are just looking for an easy A. Eldridge is one of those professors that wants you to work and learn at the same time. If you don't understand an assignment or are h
worst professor EVER. Don't listen to any of the good things or even the mild bad things. The mild are an understatement. WORST PROFESSOR EVER.
Stay AWAY.
she definitely threw the paper. A room full of people saw it, some now graduated. Maybe she has problems at home? Just don't register for hre classes.
I am almost done with this online class. The experience has been wretched. If I had it to do over again I would have dropped the class and opted for independent study. Out of 16 of us I think only two will receive As. Many expressed that they would not take the class if they had known about this professor. Please be wary.
Really really bad. I have a headache just thinking of how bad this is.
Only one more week and I never have to see this woman again. If I have my way, no college student will. There is no fixing what is wrong here.
none. she has no apparent teaching ability.
So I tried to replace a dreaded class with this prof with another one and GUESS WHAT? She teaches it. TOO. This might explain why she is so lousy and mean.
Avoid her if you can and NEVER take her for your CAPSTONE. Condescending at times. Grades very hard. Argumentative, dismissive.
NEVER take her for ANYTHING. That is the EXACT description I would have written. Argumentative. Dismissive. Wish I had thought of dismissive. She was outright rude to more than ten of us. Yep. I counted.
oh yea. It's over. I got my grade. Sorry to lay low. I was actually afraid of retribution. NEVER EVER TAKE THIS CLASS. It would be THE WORST EIGHT WEEKS OF YOUR LIFE. Or maybe that's just me and all the other people here.
I am almost done with this program. Because of this lady a lot of people have probably gotten discouraged and quit. IF I were not so close I would have. Please fire her.
Obviously while reading these comments you will notice how all the positive comments listed are fabricated and use the same dialect. It's pathetic that a teacher has to write reviews on herself just to try to reach a high enough attendance to continue teaching. PATHETIC!
DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS CLASS. The absolute WORST professor I have ever had. It was the worst 8-weeks ever! Avoid this class if you can!
This woman was so awful that everyone in my family knows her name. That's unfortunate. I finally just stopped complaining. They really need to fire her. I commented here before but do not see it.
I noticed that too. The few positive comments were her. Or someone related to her. She does have her pets. She's just evil to all others from all I have seen and heard. I don't understand why she's listed under law. NEVER take her class.
Because of need to get away from this woman after she hurled accusations at me and allowed me no recourse, my last semester at SPC will be tougher, which was probably her GOAL. Worth it to me. I'll hew my own path. How to get her under ONE is my question?? She should be LESS THAN ZERO
The nightmares have NOT stopped yet. Surely SPC can do better than THIS.
Folks you are stuck with this lady unless you become more vocal and complain and complain. Further students will be victimized if you don't.
Dear St. Pete College, I could care less that you monitor online activities and stand behind people. This woman is a wretch and you won't get rid of her why should I care how unhappy it makes people; you make them unhappy, too. There should be a committee for these issues not just stone walling students. Monitor merrily. Makin hay.
I was scary because of the commentaries and my personal experience was good and I think for the most people at the class. Sure that you have to read and do the assignments, but if you do not understand, just ask and she is there. First week il "loaded" then get better. Do not foul yourself, if you want a degree you have to learn....
This was a hard class but I also learned a lot. Prof. has certain standards and requirements that she set for her students but she also treated them like adults that should take responsibilities for their actions. She knows her stuff, and makes her students. I enjoyed her class.
She is NOT friendly. Not helpful. Probably has improved somewhat but it won't last. Everyone in the program knows this is here. They always talk about it. So, fear of God improved her for a bit but she's a state employee you're stuck with her. Any improvement will be fleeting.
Very unhelpful! You ask her a question regarding the topic of the week and she tells you to go back to the book. Thanks to this woman I went from a 4.0 gpa and probably dropping me to a 3.75. Try to take it in class with someonelse. Her grading is to the extreme. She is looking to see whether you are ready for law school or not
This woman is awful. You can read for yourself the complaints are so much more valid than the few who "like" her. Unbelievable. I was in her class and thought she was horrible, viewed her video online and saw that she looked nice and even soft-spoken. Stayed in the class thinking she just had bad email manners. NO ! Needs to GO. We can't graduate
Do not recommend at all! Do not take this professor. Extremly rude to students. Says one thing but actually wants another. I had to drop the class even though I was doing well in this class. I dropped due to the bad feedback and very harsh grading. Do yourself a favor and do not take this professor. The class however is a good class to take.
WORST!!!! I DROPPED TO SAVE MY GPA. Horribly rude to students...complete disrespect! Maybe I don't have a Doctorate, but that doesn't mean I deserve her rude emails. She won't help you either. Any misunderstanding or disagreement she will report without talking it out with you. BAD! HORRIBLE! Just aweful! Incredibly mean and rude to students.
She is still a very bad memory. I don't know how she justifies her reactions to students. Or her treatment. I compared my work to other students and found that mine was SO MUCH BETTER and I am so very objective and really hard on myself. ZERO. She was worse in the first class and so I left I couldn't take anymore and it made my last semester HARD.
She gives out too much work, so don't take a full load of classes if you plan to take her. But she's a good teacher.
Professor Eldridge's class is very hard compare to other professors, so you will need to work extra hard to receive a good grade. I suggest that you work ahead and make sure that you can contact your teammates at all times for the team project. Everything else requires you to spend time to study and doing critical thinking.
As a Business Degree seeking student having me brief cases and do pre-law work seems pointless for what I will do in my business life. If I need legal advice I'd hire a lawyer not try and do it myself. I feel as this class is not very well developed for business people but more for pre-law students.
Not a good online instructor. Vague instructions and takes weekends off. If you have a question about an assignment, better ask by Thursday. Info is presented in lines & lines of sentences that seem to have no logical order. Not a good prof. for people that work full-time.
I am not sure why so many people have a problem with Dr. Eldridge. My only guess is they want an easy A. She makes you work for good grades. but that is how it should be. She could be more clear in her assignments, but she is available often to help. I would take another class with her without hesitation. Also do your work and you will earn an A
My memory of this witch has not faded. She is a bad professor and a WORSE human being. She caused other staff to have vendettas against students. Sick. Horrible.
This teacher made my final semester a better experience. She teaches you the materials, gives additional materials, and is always willing to answer your questions. Just do the work! The people who previously graded this professor are either not prepared for a real B.S. class or do not pay attention to instructions.
Professor is very helpful but,is somewhat vague in assignments. Ask questions if you have them. It would be better if she provided examples for assignments for students toreference if they are new to the material. Very tough grader. Do your work and do it exactly the way the instructions say or you will suffer the consequences of a poor grade.
I am surprised she has such horrible reviews. Do the work and attend class (if possible) and you should not have problems with passing the class. She always encouraged students to ask questions and was always available to help. This was NOT a very hard class! Just do your work and don't expect an easy A.
This teacher is the best teacher! Her instructions are exactly clear and grades according to the instructions. It is a shame I waited until my final semester to take her. She really teaches you the material, not give you assignments and let you think it through.
Best class ever! Great with responding with any questions. Always willing to help. Teaches the subject matter. Willing to answer any questions.
Great Teacher!
I dropped this class because how she graded and tried to find your weak spot to attack. It was day and nightmare for the three weeks I've been with her. She seemed to be nice outside, but she was not inside.
I regret waiting to take this course as my last semester before Capstone. I love Studies in Law but based on the ratings I was scared to take more. I really wish I would have taken this course a long time ago so I could have taken more BUS Law classes.
Do your work and learn the material and you will get an A. Simple.
This class felt more intimidating than it actually was. Save your quiz answers, look through the powerpoints, and do the assignments. Prof Eldridge answers even very specific questions in a distracted, vague manner, so if u have questions try to get the answers yourself for the most part. Overall a great class. The work just seems harder than it is
Prof Eldridge is a very rude teacher. She does not help you with questions, but rather makes you feel stupid for asking. She does not explain her assignments and her grading scale makes absolutely NO SENSE!
There is a LOT of work and reading combined with a team project. Do your reading and view all the course materials and you'll do fine. Grading of assignments was relatively fast but had vague comments.
This has to be the worst teacher I've had in my entire college experience. She's rude and passive aggressive. She is slow to grade and when she does and she makes mistakes (a lot of mistakes) it takes her days to correct. Your grade will just sit at an F when you have a B. I strongly dislike her and the terrible book. Avoid at all costs.
Does not encourage students even if you do the work. Directions are different than originally assigned and you are unaware until you get to the drop box. By then it's to late to change anything. Doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner. She may be a lawyer but there's a reason she doesn't practice law. You can see it in her teaching skills.
Hard class, but, great instructor with WebEx meetings and love the breakfast bytes each week. Grades hard, but, really cares.
This class was ok; slightly demanding. be prepared for case briefs and other law-ish stuff (which i find to be tedious). Not my ideal subject matter but she was nice and flexible; allowing for students to do a discussion post instead of going to class. due dates were reasonable and on Sundays. Group projects were lame but not unbearable like some.
Loved the book, used the new D2L which was awesome. Professor used a lot of reference materials that made online class easy to understand. Grading was commensurate with level of input.
I have taken Business Law with another professor and got a 98% overall which detailed in case briefings such as this class. This class i failed every single assignment leading up to the midterm. The quiz questions did not match the book. This is the first class i had to drop/withdraw from due to a failing grade in the 5 years i have been in college
Dr. Eldridge is a great professor, she was fair with grades, and she expected the students to do a good job. I never expected an easy class, because, legal is not part of my degree. I learned a lot with her method of teaching and assignments.
She did a fantastic job of presenting meaningful material in a memorable and fun environment.
Eldridge was terrible at responding to back to email, case brief word count was ridiculously long and unnecessary. Had no idea which book was required for the class, there are two versions each do not correlate with the lessons. At the end she said if you had an issue with your grade to email her, I did so and she flat out told me I was wrong.
Tough class, you have to work for your grade. The work load is fair, she follows up busy weeks with lighter ones. She is not an easy grader, but not overly hard. If you make the effort to communicate with her she provides excellent feedback on assignments. She is prompt and responsive to emails. Gives very clear directions. Would take her again.
Awful class! The group project case my team got was extremely confusing, and when asking for help, the responses are not helpful at all. I have gotten straight A's through all my time at SPC, and I am worried about getting a C in this class due to her harsh grading. She thinks this is law school, apparently.
In my 4th year at SPC and Professor Eldridge is the harshest grader that I have come across during my time there. Treats a 3000 level course like a grad course or law school. Before it was disabled, I was seeing the class routinely failing assignments. I dont know if an A is possible and Im certainly annoyed at how much work I put into this course
Professor was a tough grader, but gave more feedback than other profs during the class. If you had drafts done early she would review and provide very helpful feedback which was really appreciated. Instructions are a bit vague and sometimes conflicting but she did clarify upon request. Overall an excellent professor- tough, but effective.
Assignments don't really relate to what she goes over in class and I felt like she graded my assignments more on grammar and sentence structure (indenting and punctuation) more so than the material I presented in the assignment. Take the blended course and only buy the online book that comes with the cengage access code. You don't need the book.
This professor was awesome ! She kept the class engaged and had us present ideas for business. She was very helpful and motivating. I read through the comments and think "they must have had a different teacher". Word of advise, don't overthink the material. She can be intimidating but she's a great prof. ;-)
I had a rough semester, including a death in the family, Dr. Eldridge was supportive of my out of class problems and worked to accommodate me which resulted in a successful completion of my course; with an A to boot. I certainly did all of the work so it was not an easy A but because of her support I succeeded.
I would definitely recommend this professor. The class as a whole had a troubling start to the semester and she was made the professor of it in the second week. She provided clear examples of what she was looking for and provided excellent feedback. The course itself went from being trash to great, thanks to her.
I took Law for Professionals online with this professor. No problems and the work load isn't to bad. There is a final group project so if you get stuck with slackers it can be somewhat frustrating. Otherwise she is a great professor and an A is do-able if you just do the work.
If you want to get an A in this class expect to do all the work for your whole group. Majority of the class is group based and if your stuck with people who don't care as much as you, this class will be the death of you. Beware the book for this class is awful, index, glossary, or table of contents, also my book skipped from chapter 24-37.
Professor Eldridge is a good professor. She responded to every email. She is clear in what she wants and will explain it to you if you email her. The class was not overwhelming and the projects went smoothly, as long as you do your homework. Group projects can be frustrating, but make sure to be direct and thorough within your own group.
Great class. Be prepared to work for your grades. Enjoy!
Prof. Eldridge picked topics that were timely, interesting and applicable to day to day business life. Yes, there is a group project in her class, but it's not as bad as you'd think it would be. I took her class completely online and her facilitation of the group project made it easier than you'd imagine.
Dr. Eldridge a very fair professor. Her assignments are clear and she provides really good feedback to help you understanding what could have been done better.
Workload was normal, discussion post and assignment almost every week and reading was fairly straight foreword. However, when it came to feedback or help on the assignments or projects the answers were sporadic.
She is very nice. If you have any problems or questions, she will get back to you with in 24 hr. For a 8 week class there is a large class load. The most the discussion topics are need to research topics. The team project is a big part of her grading.
Content for the course was outlined and very straight forward. Slow to grade papers but they do get graded. Overall, the class was what to be expected for a required course towards your degree. If you have friends that are in the legal system, rely on them for help. It is what to expect in an online course with this instructor.
I took this course online and overall, the difficulty level matched my expectations. She was good about posting the Monday Morning Bytes and assignment instructions, but instructions weren't always clear, and she graded harder than most other instructors. Hopefully she puts you in a good group for the project. The book is not very helpful.
I have taken classes with Professor Eldridge both online and on campus. Both experiences were pleasant. There are weekly readings, but as long as you do them you'll be fine. The professor seemed very willing to help whenever asked and even encouraged us to do so before it was too late. She also gave helpful feedback on graded papers.
Professor Eldridge showed positive energy and did her best to make the class seem fun. Some of her instructions were not as clear as I had hoped they would be, so it was often difficult to meet her expectations. Overall, the course was fairly informative on the legal issues that professionals are faced with.
Dr. Elridge is an awesome professor. This was my second time taking her. She actually cares about the success of her students. I was in jeopardy of failing due to me not being focused . She approached me and encouraged me to do better. I absolutely have so much respect for her. She is awesome and I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
She is a good professor and I recommend taking any courses with her. She is very responsive and goes the extra mile. She seems to actually care about her students and wants to make sure we understand all of the concepts.
Overall good class, law so the reading and writing was expected. Would take again.
Decent experience. Group assignments suck. There is a balance of discussions, quizzes, tests, and so on.
A lot of reading but that is what law is. About the equal amount of test and quizzes. The group project is not fun to do with everybody in your group having different schedules compare to yourself.
This professor is not only really knowledgable about law but she is very good at making long lectures interesting and sorta comical. If you show up and take part in the class and actually do the discussions (you don't have to write it you just have to discuss your topic in class) you'll pass with flying colors.
Dr. Eldrigde is very professional and the course is presented in a manner that facilitates an understanding of the law and how it applies to technology. The course was challenging and it helped me apply critical thinking skills outside of my program of study.
I really enjoyed Professor Eldridge class. She made all discussion very clear and was very open to responses. If you arrive at class participate and complete assignments you will succeed in this course. The course is designed to open your eyes to the vast world of how the law effects business practices. She also gives great feedback on all work.
Lecturer is prepared for class. Extremely knowledgeable about course content. This Lecturer has to remember that many students in the course are more interested in understanding the content that debating it. Her delivery style is more suited for law students that technical information students ought to know.
I personally do not like the readings as I am not super interested in all the laws but I had to take this class for my degree and I enjoyed it more than I initially thought I would. The professor reply's quickly to emails, answers questions thoroughly, and offers some extra credit so there is no excuse to fail.
There is a bit of reading having to do with cases and chapters in books, but quizzes and tests were open book, group project wasn't hard.
I think the discussion post word count requirements were a little high, especially having to reply to a student with 200 words. The quizzes have some tricky questions such as double negatives with true and false answer choices. However she was very helpful, quick to respond to messages and always seemed to be in a good mood.
This course requires the students to cover a lot of chapters per week which must be read to pass the quizzes and exams, which some of the weeks seemed like an impossible mission. Professor Eldridge does engage with the students online through WebEx sessions and emails as well as provides feedback to help the student make improvements.
I took this class online. The professor had to make a few changes to her instructions, as she changes the curriculum from her previous class. This caused some confusion. There are group assignments, though they are straight-forward and simple (but it does take research and feedback from all involved). She grades very fairly, and is understanding.
This is one of the tougher courses I have taken, and I only have one remaining. Be prepared to devote quite a bit of time to reading, researching, and collaborating on the team assignment. A student can do well if they stay on top of things, and really study.
I really enjoyed this class the teacher was amazing and the class was very interactive . one of the best parts of the class that i really enjoyed was the mock trial . it gave the class a chance to experience a really life business law scenario which was very eye opening for me on what a business have to deal with for involving their products.
There is a lot of reading and the tests and quizzes are tough. Working in groups is always challenging, but the mock trial itself is fun and a learning experience. She provides lots of extra web help, web ex help and you tube videos she recorded herself to help. She responds promptly to emails. I would take again. :)
Tests are not hard if you read the chapters and pay attention. Professor gives good feedback and is available if assistance is required.704
Professor Eldridge is a great teacher who makes learning business very interesting. The mock trail we did was a lot of fun and also showed the case from all different positions in the courtroom. The deliberations were a lot more serious than I had originally thought they'd be; all the questions were very nerve-racking being the one in question.
This course was informative and I enjoyed how the professor was available to help.
Grammar will cause her to knock mad points off your paper. Assigns group assignments for online classes. Beware
Class was reletively easy with a larger class load. Team project was pretty easy assuming you get a team that works with you. Midterm and Final are based out of the book and discussion posts are super simple. I'd give her a good grade if it werent for the high expectationsgrading for the powerpoint presentation that is required.
The weekly videos were a good touch. A lot can be said for the manner and tone of someones voice that can't be reproduced in print.
I took Professor Eldridge for my Legal Aspects of Managing Technology class and was very disappointed. She ignores the issues caused by students not participating in group assignments and her assignment instructions were quite unclear. I would not take another course from her in the future.
Not my favorite teacher. She takes a long time to email back and doesnt give clear answers, just says read the materials. You will feel confused most of the class. She does let you submit all your group projects in early and will give you proper feedback. Class was not hard, but she did make it stressful at times.
Lazy, boring, and inattentive. Good luck getting her to respond. Her syllabus never matches anything, she forgets to open aspects of the course and half reads the emails you send. Her assignments often contain incorrect grammar and are clearly not thought through. Freaking easy class, but horrible teacher. She teaches a lot of courses. Good luck!
Thought provoking class applying the Laws within the Business industry
She's just okay. She's actually instructing students to post here about this class this semester even though the class isn't done yet. Just be sure you know how to break down a case and you'll be fine in her class. Mess up once and you'll sit on a B for a while, but an A is still possible. Team projects are awkward, or at least mine was/is.
I found her instruction interactive from an online perspective. She uses weekly video clips to create a face to face interaction which not all professors do. I enjoyed the case work and found her responsive and helpful. Her comments were always clear and concise. It has been an interesting course to assist in gaining knowledge regarding open so
The group project is what makes or breaks this class (and your sanity). For this class take the pain of a group project and multiply it by 5 because that is the number of assignments you have to turn in with your group. Just prepare yourself to experience: A) no communication, B) to carry the load, and C) people to drop off the face of the earth
I thought Instructor Eldridge was clear as far her grading was concerned and she responded to your emails in a timely fashion and gave great feedback.
For a class called Legal Aspects of Managing Technology, there is a lot of focus on writing style that I feel is excessive, especially for the standard discussion post. I feel like I am taking composition again. This is the only class that I have gotten less than a 100% on a discussion post. Tough but not impossible. Overall, a pretty good class.
Professor Eldridge is an above average teacher at SPC. For this class, the online students are subject to quite a bit of additional, discussion writings. Take the course in a classroom, if you don't want that extra work. The group project is over 30% of the final grade. Nothing is overly difficult. I would take another class with her.
Good teacher. Is fairly strict about assignments being on time. Had an issue purchasing the access code online for the class through Cengage and it would not allow me to access the class. Cengage said they they were having issues with their order processing. Teacher did not let me make up quizzes I missed due to the error after explaining.
It was hard to me to get into some things since I am not native English speaker, so communication based on colloquial rather than formal plain language made this course tough for me.
This professor is asking people to rate her as part of an assignment, so I'm sure everyone is adding wonderful reviews because they think it will effect their grade. Then again, they might not care about how poorly the course is run due to how easy the course is. Her teaching and organization skills leave much to be desired either way.
I took the class 100% online and it was challenging at times. I was fortunate to have a great team for the group project. Dr. Eldridge is extremely detail oriented and you need to read all of her instructions carefully, or else it'll cost you. My one complaint is that it was hard to find certain material sources for assignments.
Too many supplemental materials. And nobody wants to watch a video of you talking for five minutes.
I really enjoyed learning the law pertaining to my career field.
The bulk of the class centers around group projects. The instructions for these projects, however, are as clear as mud. I found the course to be rather straightforward until it was time to complete the team projects. The professor responds to all correspondence in a timely matter but fails to explain, clearly, what is expected of assignments.
You to do the research and form your own conclusions. Very helpful. Opportunities to interact, even though online. Will respond. High hopes for the class, but almost no technical aspects. Should be learning about useful things like finding which licence to use for a small software project or SME. All about legal form. Take in person if possible.
Dr Deborah Eldridge is a good professor. She is helpful. I am NOT interested in law, so my grade will reflect my interest. Probably a B. An A is achievable if you read and really do your research. She is a detailed grader, but I wouldn't say a hard grader. Just make sure you understand the assignment and what each component comprises.
Great professor, i wish i could take her for all my classes. It's simple if you do the work you will pass. Even with me being a slacker who works two jobs, i still received a B. No excuses if you fail this lady.
This class was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. If you pay attention in class it will flow much easier when you go home to study. There are 4 quizzes a midterm, final. Group project which I found to be the best thing. There are so many laws that I had no idea about however, thanks to this class i do. It can be a boring class but its not.
Good professor, very thorough with lectures. She post the power points online which is nice. Some times even the lecture if your lucky. Coming to class is worth it because she explains the semester group project in detail which is worth every second if you are going to pass. The group project goes until the end of the semester and wort 39%/grade.
Very knowledgable on law and business.
Straightforward class. Assignments are clear and she even gives a video of expectations for the week. Not hard to follow. A lot of work in the short time frame, but that's just the design of coursework in a bachelor's program. Great experience.
This class is an online class, i am not a fan of them but this class seems alright. Nothing outstanding worth noting, Nothing awful worth mentioning. Do the work, study, and you should be fine.
I like this class overall. I thought that he assignments were straight forward and clear. She is very good at explaining what is expected.
I have enjoyed this class and would take it again.
Assignment is pretty straight forward and clear. If paragraph and sentence structure isn't your strong suit then it's somewhat hard because the professor does grade a lot on grammer and punctation
Was unaware this class consisted of four main parts of a group project before I signed up for it. The class isn't that bad and is definitely doable but make sure you get started on your group projects early on in the week or your weekend will be miserable.
Work is straight forward. Some instructions are unclear as some is in folders, then others in videos. Had i know there was going to be a 4 part team project, I would not have signed up- kind of a headache. But overall, she is a good professor and she knows her stuff. Quick to respond to emails as well. Easy to get an A.
Work is very straightforward and tells you exactly what you need to put on the assignments. Do be prepared to read a lot as there is a lot to cover in a 8-week period. There is group work and make sure you read anything related to group work, including the videos which are helpful.
The instructions for different assignments are scattered throughout the course content in the form of videos and text, and in all different folders. The content is not organized in a way that sets students up for success. You'd expect things due in a certain week to be in a weekly folder but they're actually in a totally different one.
Poor organization of course countent/materials. Discussions/assignments due for one week, scattered across various folders within the course. Too little time to complete group assignments in an online-class format.
I have taken Business Law at this same institution with a different instructor. There is no difference in curriculum between Business Law and Law for Professionals classes. I felt like this course was a filler and designed to get revenue. The videos produced for instruction were not proof watched as there is severe feedback and squealing.
She is very knowledgeable of her subject area. She grades tough on writing assignments. LOTS of reading required. Wait before you purchase the required textbooks; I bought the required ones only to find out they weren't even needed for class.
Professor Eldridge is very organized and keeps assignments straight to the point. This class was an 8 week course so completing the group project was tough. She is a very tough grader but gives detailed feedback so you can improve before the next assignment. I would reccomend her and take her again as a professor.
The 1st week we had to do an issue evaluation using a form. The form has instructions on it but it wasn't enough to really help. Then in week 6 we had to do the same issue eval. but it came with a tutorial link that really helped explain it. Turns out, I had to go into the 'Tutorials' folder to find it the 1st week. Seems a little backwards.
Beware this class involves group projects that can cause lots of stress and frustration, if other group members do not communicate or wait till the last two days before the assignments are due. After the first group assignment, be prepared to spend the weekend working on the projects as well as discussions and quizzes. Do not slack off!
The class was not organized. She had various assignments, quizzes, case links all over the place. You will not learn anything in this class. The only thing that you will be doing is posting the required post (300 words per week) and working on a group project. She will take points off is she doesn't like how you phrase things- not just for errors.
Class is not hard, she has the best set up for my courses iv ever seen. It says exactly whats due, when and what to read. When you see her syllabus you expect hard work but its not. H.W once a week, a few easy quiz. Midterm and Final both easy if you study past quiz. Everything is open book!! If you fail its because you don't care. Class is easy.
This class had a lot of reading involved. There is no book but there are a lot of links to read. I'm not a lawyer nor want to be one. Reading the case laws and writing reports on them was not my cup of coffee. The grading for some of them was tough. I like knowing whats right and wrong but don't really care about the in depth details.
Grades harder than most on assignments, doesn't use books which makes tests harder. And does not give good feedback when it comes to assignments.
Group projects appear to be a big thing with online courses, and add stress to the work that needs to be completed, however Dr. Eldridge did provide our group the chance to submit a deliverable late, which I was greatful for.
Prepare to read case law, and write in a precise way. Books suggested by the school aren't used, but a good shelf filler; all course material are links. Firm grader, follow the rubrics, and you'll get a B. Hope for a good group of people for the project (makes everything more enjoyable). All-in-all, Prof. Eldridge runs a firm, but fair ship.
I enjoyed the class. I was excited an overprice textbook was not required. The cases required to discuss and evaluate were very enlightening for the changing digital world we live in. However, I do not like the oral portion of the team project. BUL 3564 is not a Professional Business Speaking class, nor is it ToastMasters. Overall, 2 Thumbs Up.
Class is very informative. Clear grading. Weekly assignment to increase knowledge of the law and legal issues. Monday Morning breakfast bites.
No textbook. Professor is very clear with her instructions and expectations for the course and assignments. Teaches from experience, not from a several-years-old, insanely expensive textbook. She actually reads your assignments and provides unique, specific feedback. I recommend taking her class, but pay attention. Team project required.
Class can be taken online or on campus. Homework forces to learn about law. No books purchase but get ready to read a lot of online material. Great class for anyone trying to understand the law. I am not a law student but I have learned a lot about copyright issues, protecting individual work, and infringement.
You are paying for an education, the material is there laid out. Read it, study it, participate, write well APA. You know the drill, you made this far, this is not an easy ride. But if you attend class, it is much more enjoyable and you don't have to post the weekly discussions.
Dr. Eldridge has put together an interesting course. Weekly assignments, a few quizzes, a midterm, and a final. The team project lasts for almost the entire semester. She replies quickly to emails and gives good feedback. Grading criteria is not clear and there is no rubric to know how you are being assessed. But she is generous with the grades.
Eldridge is very unclear for her online students. She has information for each assignment in 3 different places. In order to fully understand the requirements for the assignment you must read the directions, watch the beginning of her lectures, and watch her tutorials (in the tutorial folder). Many of the assignments you cannot use outside sources.
Easy class for me because I had some background knowledge of the information. She has online quizzes which made it easier. For the online quizzes her only rule was you were not allowed to work with other students in the class, but most of the answers you were able to look up and get the right answers. Not too many papers that you have to turn in
She wasn't very good at explaining the material. She wasn't very helpful outside of class either, I asked her for help on an assignment and she told me I "waited too long" to ask. We would only have 3 days to do her homework that she would rarely explain, and the group project was irrelevant to the class. By some miracle managed to pass.
Professor taught like all students were familiar with reading case law. Many in the class had not taken prior law related classes. Teacher luckily removed group project, which likely saved my grade. Professor did respond to emails quickly (24/48 hours). Did allow for doing work again if you did terrible in her eyes.
This professor is not suitable for teaching this course. Throughout the duration of this semester, I taught myself and she did nothing to further my education. Her lack of involvement with this course clearly shows and will make an impact on your grade, which is completely unfair.
Knowledgeable but, as other reviews have said, she teaches as if her students already have knowledge on case law. Have to do a lot of my own research and ask plenty of questions. She has good intent and she does care about her students, just be prepared to ask questions in class or via email. If you don't ask questions, be prepared to research.
If it had not been for the heavily graded group project, I would have received an "A" for the class. I do not think you should share the same grade when you do your part very well and others do not. Eldridge is a lawyer that teaches at a small college that does not have a law school (u do the math), and not participate in a real law firm!
This was a fun class.
Her grading criteria is a complete mystery w grading rubrics that don't describe what she is looking for at all. You have to go to three different areas to find requirements for assignments. Doesn't grade quick enough for you to apply what little, unhelpful feedback she does provide. Group project is a nightmare.
Do NOT take this professor. She is an extremely slow grader and she will single you out. Too many group projects with idiots, if you say anything about your group, she takes it personally and will give you lower grades for no reason. STAY AWAY!
Dr. Eldridge gives you all you need to be successful in her class. She has videos that talk you through each week's assignments and she adds helpful resources for every module. She's not the fastest grader, but she's very responsive if you need anything.
Random due dates, unclear instructions on every assignment, slow grading, no understanding of time management when assigning teams.. Less than a week before the exercise is due and no teams are formed. Instructor was having to email to the entire class to clear up instructions on multiple occasions. Not a great experience.
SO the first discussion is on a movie clip that leaves you with no information at all. total words spoken in this movie clip- 200 max. wants you to write 500 words on it. gives you a zero for " not proper formatting" on the rubric it states that formatting is worth 1 oust of 11 points. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IM BEGGING YOU.
She is very critical when it comes to her grading, she will grade your discussion posts or papers like an English teacher. And when it comes down to the material in class for you to learn, there is not much. The class was supposed to be IT oriented but all I learned about was law. And the mid term and final, good luck, because all you get are PPTX.
She is bad at replying to messages and is not accessible. Gives little instructions but she is a strict grader. Not very understanding and will get defensive if you try to say you don't understand something she says or has written. If you ask for clarification, she refers you back to the vague instructions she provided in the assignment. Dont take.
Do not take this class.
Just make sure you have grammarly.
Lots of homework. Expects people who aren't in law to brief cases. Discussions with word count requirements and then respond to another student's answer. A group project with an online course is challenging, especially if someone doesn't understand how to brief a case. I would avoid this professor.
This professor is very inconsistent in both her material and grading. Her course content is written to be very misleading. She responded late to all emails and provided no insights to her grading methodology at all.
Class consists of a sea of unending writing assignments and two group writing assignments. Course materials are scant PowerPoints and links to websites and YouTube videos that are often outdated or broken. This professor grades very harshly, to the point that she may give a D for an assignment if you make a single mistake. Class has no value.
This professor is extremely unhelpful. Grades are 3 weeks behind. professor does not teach and you learn all this difficult material with very few resources. The professor has been MIA since the introduction of the class, and not one grade, response, or update has been posted. Avoid it if you can.
Professor Eldridge is a nice person and passionate about law. I found the content to be pretty interesting and took away more from the class than I thought I would. It's not hard, but it is a lot of reading and writing. The group projects are annoying, but not too bad. Only real complaint is she seems to be a bit unpredictable with how she grades.
I would not recommend taking a course with Professor Eldridge! The learning content that she provides is outdated and does not help with the assignments. Her YouTube videos do not correlate with the modules. The links that she provides are hit or miss, or don't work at all. Her email responses are passive aggresive. Very sloppy and unorganized!
Avoid this Professor at all costs!!! Absolutely Terrible!!!
This class with Professor Eldridge is a major headache. The course content is outdated and unhelpful, with broken links and unaligned video lectures. Grading is harsh, requiring perfect formatting even on short assignments. unstuck AI could be a lifesaver for preparing, but I'd still avoid this course if possible.
This is a pretty difficult course. Group assignments were awful. Extremely harsh grader. At least there is no need to purchase a textbook for this class; it's mostly PowerPoint lectures, YouTube videos, and website journals/articles.
The grades are a month late, the professor doesn't reply to emails, the points are taken off the assignments with no explanation, no rubric for assignments either.
This is a review of the Estate Planning class. Don't do it! I have never taken the time to do this, but Eldridge was not a great professor. Maybe it was our personalities or the material, but it didn't seem like she wanted to teach. Lots of mirco-aggressions, presumptuous, patronizing, and the material was WAY more involved than it needed to be.
