UGH. The only nice part about this class was that we got the speeches over with in the begining. we never learned how to speak before doing out speeches. The only hints we got were, speak louder,or slower, speak faster, make good eye contact. Her tests are heinous. Questions make NO sense.

Horrible! She was always late to her own class. She was obsessed with racial and **** issues and she can't teach to save her life. Her tests are a joke(they don't make sense) and I'm truly surprised that she has a college degree. Avoid taking her! Even if you have to wait another semester!

I agree with most of what is written about her. She is always late, she's unclear on what she wants for tests, speeches, homework. I got a B in her class-but I think it's because never voiced my opinion or got too involved in discussions in class. Her style is loosy goosy with no structure. Keep your mouth shut if you take her!!!

Horrible teacher. She made absolutely no sense and her tests were extremely unclear. She was very unprofessional and was never on time to her own class. She was atleast 5-10 minutes late every day, if not more. I would definitely not reccomend her class even if she's your last option, wait until another speech professor is available next semester

This woman is horrible she doesnt provide any info for u to detemine your overall grade and is extreemly ****. She sees herself as an outcast and makes us all feel horrible about ourselves. I thought of her as a normal person when I first started the class and now I think she is discusting. I have never met anyone like her. Dont take this class.

She doesn't prepare you for the tests so read the book. The speeches are not graded on interest or creativity but more on how your mannerism is in front of a group. She is VERY sensitive about being black.

She's very unclear with her instructions. Springs assignments on you last minute - loves to do this with group projects (at impossible times). She wouldn't give us our grade the whole semester, even after she was asked by her higher-ups. Very focused on being black, and makes a point to lecture on racism. Horrible teacher. avoid at all costs.

Very poor professor. Focuses far too much on the reading and definitions and not enough on the purpose of the class - SPEAKING in front of audiences. She is not fair at all and bases her grades on if she likes you or not. She also has quite a bit of racism for anyone other than blacks.

This class was awful. I have never had a teacher that I thought should not be a teacher and go into a different profession. She never explains anything. Her quizzes are hard to study for. Her posted office hours are a sham. She is in her office but the door is locked and the lights are off and you feel like your bother her.Apparantly she is tenured

took professional speaking class and had to withdraw. She told the class "don't talk like babies" and was VERY disrespectful to the whole class. Also, went off that my resume was unacceptable and then later realized she had me confused with someone else.

Ms. Ford is funny, spiritual, and kind-- if she likes you. If you have any interest in public speaking-- AVOID THIS CLASS! Her grading is difficult and her midterm is mindlessly hard-- almost my entire class failed it. You have to be careful to agree with her opinions otherwise it could damage your grade.

Professor Ford sets students up for failure; she is late for posting assignments (forgets),grades assignment confusing it with another assignment criterea. She said she would offer extra credit opportunity, and never did. She allowed a student to deliver their speech the morning of our final exam (this ate up almost fifteen minutes of testing time!

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. First few weeks pertain to speech, then the remaining weeks are devoted to racism and prejudice. She does nothing to prepare students for public speech and uses her personal beliefs as her lesson plan. Believes women are the most oppressed beings on Earth. Avoid at all costs.

Horrible teacher...Exams do not pertain to any of the material taught. She gives a final exam review that is useless and out of the definitions like 10 of them pertain to the actual exam. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MRS. FORD please retire and find someone else to teach this useless class.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had at SPC. She is at least 10 minutes late to class, and appears to be on some sort of drug while teaching. She is lazy and boring. I would compare her to the man from the clear eyes commercial. I would not recommend taking her for any type of class.. Her teaching certificate should be revoked immediately.

She is the worst professor i have ever had. She does not follow the sylabus and does not inform students of what is expeted of them. She sets you up to fail.

Prof. Ford's class is driven by multiculturalism... and it's a speech class. She definitely has favorites and they are usually not White. When the whole class was confused with the assignments and asked her to explain she basically kicked us all out because she had another class coming in and didn't email us or anything. Syllabus was useless.

First of all I never rate professors. I just want to start out by saying if you take this class you're an idiot. Professor Ford goes out of her way to make students feel stupid, useless, and a failure. I can't believe she is even an employee of SPC. Sadly enough she should be fired because she's a ****. Don't, and i mean DON'T take this course.

Horrible. Changed from a speech communication class into a multicultural brainwashing session one day after the professor evaluation forms were turned in. I found no value in being forced to go to a cultural museum when I was supposed to be learning public speaking. Believes that ebonics is real, but god forbid you use it in your speeches!

Does not teach. Cannot communicate effectively. Not a blended class but a lot of work, instructions and homework on the computer. Nothing was posted in timely manner. Tests have answers not found in book. Never remembers what was covered or not in class. Will not acknowledge her errors. 25 dropped the class. Had to curve grades when class was done.

Didn't finish watching movie but assignment covered entire movie. gave 2nd assignment for same concept without us knowing how we did with 1st. test with answer that she couldn't find in book. Word bank needing memorized posted day before test. work not handed back was on exam. thinks everything you question is critisism.

She is by far the worst teacher I think I have ever had. She is late to her own class, she does NOT respond to emails, she is very vague with instructions, she doesn't stick to her OWN agenda. The tests are ridiculous and some subjects were not even covered. If you want an A, talk about how you love african american history. You'll get it then!

She has no idea what she is doing, she never has a set plan for assigments and is horrible at assigning assingments that actually go along with the book! She has a horrible fashion sense, wears the sam maroon pants every week! Oh and she has been late to class countless times...

She does absolutly nothing in class, does not go over what speeches are supposed to be about until after the speeches are done, dropped me from the class because I supposedly missed more than 4 classes when I only missed 2. Dont take her she is absolutely horrible.

One of the worst teachers I have had during my college career. I have never had a problem with a professor or HS teacher my entire life. The workload is ridiculous. She is vague with due dates, is very short and at times rude with email responses. We started out with almost 30 students and finished with 14. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

A perfect example to illustrate that having all of the head knowledge in the world does not necessarily make you a good teacher. Very strange to have a communications teacher who struggles so much with communicating. Don't get frustrated like I did if you have to take her. Just show up (late-if you want; she always is!), pass and move on.

Worst teacher I've ever had. She never tells anyone anything. She quite literally waited until the week before finals to tell us our final isn't on the normal class day so now a ton of people are screwed trying to get to the final. Never answers questions or if she does she says its in the syllabus...that's it.

Horrible speech teacher, does not care about her students in the least. Showed up late to every class throughout the semester. Becomes frustrated when students ask questions. I can not believe she has not been fired yet because she is obviously incompetent as a professor.

I am literally a straight A student who took her com class to get it out of the way. I am fair to teachers who deserve the benefit of the doubt but she is NOT ONE OF THEM. Ms. Ford is an egregious blight. She claims to support critical thinking and then penalizes people for doing so. She has no focus or structure. Hard homework because it wasn't explained that it was there. Class was very by the book and nevr taught well. I asked is there a way i ould make up for my geades she said nope. Her guidelines are terrible for speeches.She can't even do math, because she said it was out of 1000 points but i counted 900. ever ake her she is very terrible.

For someone teaching a communications class, she was the worst communicator I ever had for a class. She never explained or mentioned anything going on in the class. I dropped it because I was so confused as to what was going on.

Overall an easy class, but not worth dealing with this teacher. She spends most the time going through the book, using videos, and doing skits, but has NO reviews and now I'm about to take her final and there is still no review for it. Crammed the only 3 speeches we had for the last 3 weeks of class. Slow grader too, and she even says so herself..

I've just completed the worst ten weeks of my life. This lady is vague and tests tough. AVOID HER!She does not respond to e-mails unless it is urgent. I've never seen a teacher get pulled aside and screamed at this many times in a single semester by students. She also closes her student survey of instruction a week early. She knows she's terrible!

I took this professor during the summer. In the beginning I though she was somewhat biased, but as the class went on I soon realized that she dislikes people in general. Its ironic that the person with the worst communication skills I've ever seen is teaching a speech class. I really wish SPC would read these, because she is not teacher material.

Even though Ford is a nicer woman, her class is bogus. She didn't thoroughly explain any of the topics and frowned upon students helping others. Her quizzes didn't correlate the information she gave us in the prior lesson.

I only took her class for 3 weeks and then I withdrew from it. She gave quizzes without telling you about the information on them or if there was even a quiz. She does not give good direction, if not any. It is a very tough class and I would not recommend taking this class for anyone. Do Not Enroll In Her Class!

FAMILY MEMBER DIED AND SHE TOOK POINTS OFF because I missed class and didn't turn in speech on due time. Emailed her prior to the due date and she still took points off. Expect to never ever get a heads up on a Quiz or a speech, be ready to read a lot and answer questions in Quiz that were never discussed in class.

She is unbearably disorganized. Any time you ask for help she is rude about it and says "refer to the syllabus". The syllabus changes every week (sometimes more often). Avoid this professor.

I would never take this professor again. For my class, quizzes were open notebook, and most of the time the highest grade I could get was a B. There were only three speeches-all manuscript- so if public speaking is your absolute worst fear, this is the teacher to take. Lectures that could have taken ten minutes took an hour.

Absolutely terrible. Only two speeches for the whole SPEECH class. This class is completely self-taught. You will learn nothing from her. It would be fine if attendance wasn't mandatory but it is. Worst class I've ever taken.

Written homework assignments: two a week for two months. She uses different verbiage than textbook, and doesn't grade quickly enough for you to know whether or not you're on the right track. Makes you read and do homework on a topic before she lectures it. It's dumb. would never take her again.

Harshest grader Ive ever had and so disorganized. She takes FOREVER to grade homework and speeches so I never know if Im on track. Shes rude and has an attitude any time you speak to her. I specifically asked how many citations were required for our speech, she said 2. I got a ton of points off and she wrote in the feedback I needed 4.

Wont help you out whatsoever with your grade, even if youre a fully participating student and have done every assignment perfectly, if you miss a deadline by 1 second they wont even give you partial credit for a large speech which is a huge portion of your grade.

Don't know how I made the mistake of taking this teacher. Got this teacher mixed up with a well-rated teacher and I regret not double-checking. So vague about every discussion/assignment. Emails come across rude. Unclear due dates, assignments were "due on the day they are due." Seriously, do not take this class. Wish I would have dropped in time.

The class is self taught. no reason to show up, professor gives useless info, and sometimes she gives little info on quizzes but the rest you will need to use the textbook to pass the quizzes. Not very organized.

This teacher does not care about her students and should not work with them. She does not follow her own syllabus, takes weeks to grade. Will contradict her syllabus all semester. I am a straight-A student but this professor brought me a great deal of anxiety and stress because I felt no matter how hard I worked, it would not be good enough.

Took Prof. Fords intro to public speaking and communication class and can honestly say that being blasted with quizzes and no time to prep or practice speeches was not fun to say the least, would genuinely not recommend for the faint at heart, Ford will test your academic patience.

Cold is the best way to describe her personality. There was never any positive feedback and took too long to grade assignments. She even accidentally gave me someone elses 65 with no feedback and When I requested as to why I received the grade I did, she came back that she did as above and then gave me an 85. No apologies given. Do not recommend.

I would not recommend this teacher, she takes very long to respond to emails and is also rude and grades very harshly. I am a good student and get As and Bs but I missed one speech due to personal issues and could never recover even though I passed the rest of the assignments with good grades.

The quiz questions are based off of material that isn't covered in the lectures. When you had questions her response was always "refer to the syllabus" and the syllabus had nothing but the due dates. During the lectures professor Ford brought in a lot of politics and her own personal beliefs that had nothing to do with speech. Would not recommend!

Ford is not the kind of person who should be an educator. She does not update the gradebook until weeks later. I sent her an email and 2 follow up emails and never got a reply. I didn't buy the textbook and have been able to complete all of my assignments. Easy class, but it really is a DIY class, don't expect help from Ford!

She said that it was my fault for not being able to click a link that she provided in her own assignment and I tested the link thoroughly and gave her evidence it doesn't work and she denied it saying my computer was broken very rude.

This professor is absolutely horrible I can only describe her as cold and unethical, I had submitted my speech at 11:45 when it was due at 11:30 and apologized and explained how I am having to work 90 hours a week at my family business that I had to inherit because my father passed away and she responded with the due date was 11:30 sorry.

Docked points over a profile photo even though the assignment was fulfilled before due date. Dropboxes are difficult to find in MyCourses, and she docked 50% on one assignment even though I emailed her with the assignment attached before the due date (couldn't find the dropbox). Very condescending when she does email back (not often).

The guidelines state that my post could be removed for profanity or derogatory terms. As such I cannot properly rate Professor Ford. I took the class in Spring of 2021, and it was the worst class I've ever taken by far! Comparable to Gordon Ramsay, except even he gives feedback. Avoid like the plague (except the plague has a 10% survival rate).

I emailed Prof. Ford to confirm my speech was formatted right. She said yes. I ended up with a zero for it being in the wrong format. She recommended I reach out to technical support. I did. They said it was formatted right. She ignored my emails for three days until the deadline passed. I had to redo the entire speech and still ended up with an F.

Barely actually teaches in class. Communication with students is poor. Instructions/grading criteria for assignments are vague and unclear. Not much time given to complete speeches, both of which were within the first 30-40 days of class. Passive-aggressive towards students. Grading is very slow. Not very hard class is made unnecessarily stressful.

I am not supposed to claim a professor shows bias or favoritism for or against students, but this professor actually did; I will submit the paperwork from the Dean for my appeal that states as such if needed. Ford made all her white students redo assignments giving no higher than Bs for their overall class grade and gave all her black students A's.

My 5th year of SPC, BY FAR the worst professor I have ever had Submitted all my work early, got 0 on essay part of a speech because it was the wrong Dropbox (I didn't know). I screenshot my submission + she did not care. I appealed with the Dean but to no avail. Only B in my college career, she screwed up my 4.0 GPA. STAY FAR AWAY!

I have never made a review on a professor until now. And it is because this professor is so bad. Zero communication with her students despite being a communications teacher. I have completed nursing school and those professors weren't even this tough on grading. Very rude and condescending to students. Makes an easy class unnecessarily difficult.

No student should have to deal with this teacher. This class significantly impacted by GPA. Technology issues that multiple students experienced caused a speech to be late. Regardless of reaching out to tech support, uploading the video to a different platform and sending her a link- she refused to honor it which dropped me from an A to B.
