This teacher is super biased. And the worst part is, she advertizes herself of being unbiased. Seems like she's been to other countries and speak a few languages, but afterall, she just wants the students to write what she likes. Such as waste of time.

She forced us to research fast food, an exhausted topic. She failed to teach the basics of reasearch methods, bias, and composition techniques. Plus, she loves to talk about how great she and her 'collegues' are. She is pretentious and boisterous. Garfinkle's ego is as bad as her teaching career. She's in love with her self. Avoid Garfinkle.

Second, if you do decide to take her class, just try to follow the directions and maybe you will pass. Word of Caution: Take her at your own risk!

She gives feedback on every assignment and is super caring. I'm a STEM major and felt like the workload was manageable. She's also very lenient on grading.

The assignments were pretty long and tedious, but the Professor graded fairly & gives a /lot/ of feedback. She comments on every discussion post & gives you pointers for the essays. I went thru a really traumatic experience & Professor Garfinkle was very understanding. She let me have an extension on the final despite her policy of no late work.

Deborah is a very nice teacher and accommodating towards students of all backgrounds. Her work is quite easy, as long as you actually read the material and turn stuff in. Make sure to pay attention during Zoom classes though, because my class had a major participation issue and many students did poorly as a result. I loved her though!

Amazing professor and a caring person but also have to say that she is probably the most semi-disorganized professor I had in the past 2 years. I did not find her very clear and contradicting at times but that could just be me. The final is weighted heavily - 25% but you get feedback on a draft you make. Overall not the best or worst.

She is a very caring professor, and her assignments are very clear as to what she is looking for! There are a lot of essays to write, and since the time-span is very short, it can get overwhelming if you are taking a lot of classes at the same time. She gives amazing feedback, and the final is a research paper topic of your choice, 8-12 pages.

Debora's lectures are self-centered rants with no course content. The materials are sloppy, full of errors, and outdated. Instructions are confusing. Her feedback fixates on formatting instead of content and she makes baseless accusations of bigotry. Her obsession with AI-generated content is absurd. This course was a complete waste of time.

so much reading and so little of it is relevant. i turned in an assigment on time then a week later she told me it was a google doc and needed to be resumbitted just as text and when i did she refused to grade it because it was "late." Prepare to read so much and remember so little xD

Get ready to read a lot and listen to her ramble about how amazing the author is/how she has translated work. No textbook but you do need books for the course. Id rec annotating them. Gives feedback- some helpful, others just sassy/annoying. Lots of writing . Didn't like her class but didn't like the books and learned nothing. I wouldn't take her.

Imagine a professor DELIBERATELY changing your grade on assignments at the end to drop your grade! All instructions were not clear and concise. Instead of EDUCATING, she'd just give you a failing grade and tell you that's it's not good enough. I hadn't written in 8 years. She knew. Mexican Americans are always being attacked. That's what happened.

I took her for two quarters in a row. Both English classes were fine, but it's a lot of work. There's around 2-3 discussion posts due weekly. Essays are long but bearable if you don't procrastinate. Overall, I should've only taken her once; the work is just too annoying. On a positive note, she gives feedback on every assignment. She's decent.

I enjoyed this class, although it wasn't easy. Garfinkle is easy to communicate with and was generally helpful with the feedback and responses she gives. Amount of work is kinda a lot if you are taking hard classes, but manageable if you don't procrastinate.

Her instructions are confusing and the requirements aren't clear. She gives a lot of feedback on essays. She requires constant video recordings where you explain your work/thesis/research to prove it isn't AI-generated (also uses TurnItIn and ChatGPT to "prove" if students us AI). Keep your edit history/drafts if you choose to take her class.
