only 4 tests so study and be thorough! prepare to see her act out everything

You can't leave her classroom without learning something. Makes class interesting. Tests are kind of hard but once you take one you'll know how to study for them.

Amazing Teacher, learn a lot

Seems nice and the class is interesting but once you have a test you will hate this class. Only class I have ever not done well in at Marist. Dont know why she has to be such a hard grader for no reason.It kind of seems like she likes to see students fail

Tough, but good..really good.. I've never learned so much in my entire life. And she's so knowledgeable and VERY respected throughout her colleagues. Tests are only on notes, but you must write a lot! If you study, easy B, I got an A- (b/c of the paper)

Really nice lady but very hard. Tough grader! Take her because you learn a lot but be prepared to do a lot of work.

AWESOME teacher - but so hard. you need to memorize your notes for exams and write all that you can. don't wimp out - take her!! you will learn soooo much.

Gatins is a tough professor but she is worth it. You will not leave her classroom without learning something. Tests are hard, but if you go to class and study your notes you will do fine. She keeps the class interesting, and she really knows her stuff!

really hard to get an A or B, REALLY hard grader, but i learned a TON. worth it if you're willing to work hard.

Gr8 teacher. Learned a ton. She teaches from the book as well as her experiences from the mental hospital where she works. If u take notes & study them & read the book, u should pass. Tough grader on paper but tests r easy if u study hard.

absolutely fabulous prof. need to study hard from your notes and listen carefully to her lectures. you will learn so much. hard to get a high grade, but she is so worth it.

She is hard, but you will learn a lot. However, if I had to hear one more story about her daughter I was going to kill myself!!

I had her for 2 classes & I found her to be an excellent teacher, highly intelligent & experienced. She demands a lot from her students & I got A's in both of her classes with some hard work, but it's possible. Make time for her work if you want an A.

I want to hate her bc she grades so hard, but shes knows her stuff and i learned alot. Plus shes cool until she turns evil. I cant figure her out!

Great class- she's very knowledgeable about her stuff. I learned a lot from her. She expects a lot from you but if you do what she asks it's possible to do well.

Gatins is the devil. You learn a lot but there are other teachers who are capable of teaching a lot and not belittling you and dragging your GPA down. Avoid her.

The best education teacher i have had yet!! Gatins demands high standards but that makes the final A all the more an accomplishment! I never learned so much in my life!! Gatins is funny and her classes always went by sooo fast! Take her..

Whoever wrote she is the devil is insane. She was lively and interesting, told funny stories, and explained things very clearly. Only qualm is that she grades unfairly on your paper but if you study your grade will go right up. Easy Final too.

Great teacher.. very clear in making you understand.. and uses good examples to help you remember things throughout lecture.. tests are fair and pretty easy

Tough teacher. Tests are easy, but you need to study. First paper is impossible. Don't expect higher than a B.

way to pass this class w/a good grade is simple-- take good notes during class and use them as a study guide for tests. skim the book before class so you can participate, proofread papers for grammar and spelling. her tests are from sections of notes. just study before.

I thought she was an excellent professor. Yeah, she's tough, especially on the paper, but if you study hard you can do well. Her class lectures are clear and she actually makes them rather interesting so you learn a lot. Overall she's a really nice lady as well.

She's hard, but a good teacher and she keeps you interested. You need to study for the tests and put down every single thing you know about the questions, but it's a good class.

There's no denying it, this is a hard class. She demands a lot and you must study hard but you will truly take something away from the class. Lectures are interesting and entertaining even. She's very down to earth but does demand excellence. Be prepared to work for your grade...not just do minimal work and get an A like some other class.

makes 8am class interesting with funny examples, a lot of it is review from psych 101. very effective teaching style. 1 paper and few tests, hard grader, you just need to go to class, study and understand concepts, which is reasonable considering we are college students. I highly recommend this class to anyone who likes kids or plans to have kids

Such a great teacher to learn from. Strict with attendance but keeps you awake at 8am with entertaining lectures. Will come off as a psycho with her comments on the short paper but its only 10% of your grade. If you study notes from class for the test you will do fine.

Very strict- don't even think about missing a class. Believes that a C is a decent grade for her exams/assignments. Write down everything she writes on the bored and study it like a mad person- it is the only way you will pass the class. However, she is actually very funny and makes class really interesting. You will be worked in this class.

OMG! She is the funniest and most interesting teacher to have for an 8 o'clock class, in fact any class. She is very hard but effective. If you think you are going to get an A in this class... forget it. If you think you are going to learn and leave with something...you got it. Gatins is for you. At the end of class, you will want to meet Kerry. ha

The best lecture teacher I've had at Marist. Very interactive, and super clear on testable material (you basically know the exam before it happens). Fairly difficult grader, but curves to make up for it. Can't skip class ever.

Awful teacher. Would never recommend her to anyone. She rambles about random stuff that noone cares about. all she does is criticize people. you need to go to class, which is stupid because everyone gets sick but its impossible to miss one of her classes

Extremely hard teacher, very strict grader, one paper(hard), if you're up for a challenge take her. She's a good person and will help you learn if needed.

Very smart woman, there's no argument there, she knows her stuff. Strict!!!! Basically an attendance nazi, you can NOT miss class under any circumstance. Don't really need the textbook, its more to fill in her very detailed notes. Tests are just memorizing your notes and re-writing them. She's the only one who teaches this class for Secondary Ed..

This class IS NOT impossible and is worth taking a class with her.Shes very strict with attendance and the paper is difficult, but she is very clear in what she expects and her tests come straight from the notes.If yu study hard you can get an A(I did)She's a great lecturer so take her if you want to learn something. She really prepares you.

Although academic rigor should be a fundamental tenet of any course, Dr. Gatins pompous attitude, rigid mentality and graduate-level expectations forsakes any efforts demonstrated by students and is truly only for majors. If a student registering was smart, they can have a more plausible challenge in Dr. Dunlap, Dr. Canale and Dr. Dingman.

Professor Gatins is an incredible professor. Yes some remarks are harsh or crazy, but her intelligence, clarity, and helpfulness outweighs it. It's all what you take from it. Don't take it looking for an easy a. Glad to have taken her and look forward to having her again. As a psychmajor I hope to gain the knowledge/expertise she has in the subjct.

Professor Gatins is a wonderful professor. Although it's very true that she can sometimes be condescending and even mean, you learn so much from her lectures. She is very knowledgeable about her field. The class consists of only 3 exams, a non-cumulative final, and 1 short paper (which is graded harshly, but it's only worth 5% of your final grade)

Dr. Gatins is an extremely helpful teacher who really knows her stuff, but she's an extremely difficult grader. She also has a vert strict attendance policy, so don't miss more than 2 classes. The in-class tests are all essay and you need to know the notes word for word to do well.

Her lectures are fairly interesting, but the TESTS. UGH. Believe me when I say YOU MUST MUST MUST copy EVERYTHING SHE WRITES ON THE BOARD and MEMORIZE IT. If your test answers are not exactly what she wants, FAIL.

gatins is extremely knowledgeable in her field. the class is not the easiest but it is interesting. if you take good notes in class and study a lot you will do fine. she wants her students to do well and usually scales tests. no homework. 1 paper, 3 tests, and a final which is all essays from the previous tests. favorite teacher freshman year!!

Professor Gatins is quite possibly the best professor I've had at Marist in the past 4 years. Her knowledge and passion on the subject really shows during her class lectures. A lot of people are complaining about how tough she is, and she is. If you want to actually learn something, take her. If you want an easy A, run away fast. STUDY,STUDY,STUDY!

VERY smart professor, doesn't deserve the negative reputation she has. Not an easy A, but you will learn and be the better for it.

The class itself is not difficult, but the tests are very detailed and it's difficult to get an A. If you don't write the exact notes you took in class on the test the best you'll do is a C. Lots of assigned readings but no written homework besides a few papers. She's a tough grader but she is very knowledgable in her field and I've learned a lot.

I LOVE Gatins! I have never learned so much in a class before. Her sense of humor makes the class great and plus the material is interesting. Her class is solely lecture style with no powerpoints; so you need to make sure you are paying attention and taking notes. Read, read, read! Make sure you do the assigned reading to participate in class!

Dr. Gatins is one of my favorite professors. She is incredibly knowledgeable in the field. You will learn so much throughout this course as long as you keep up with the textbook reading. Make sure you read the chapters thoroughly! She has convenient office hours, as well. Really engaging class.

Dr. Gatins is definitely the hardest professor I have had while at Marist, but she is also the best professor I have had. She is enthusiastic about the class, tells us it is the best part of her day, and is a fantastic lecturer. Yes, she is hard and makes you work for the A, but the class is worth taking. I highly recommend taking her at some point

Hardest class I have ever taken at Marist. You MUST read to pass and you MUST take GOOD NOTES. Three exams and final paper are basically your whole grade. She is such a great professor tho. Learned so much and I was never bored for a 9:30 class.

Dr. Gatins is a fantastic professor. She will definitely make you work extremely hard for an A, but if you put in the effort it's possible. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed and gives lots of good feedback on assignments. You have to do the readings and participate in class to do well. Definitely take class with her if you can

Gatins covered for a class I took. She explained things very well but was rather harsh in her explanations. She changed alot of the lectures, which was a bit of a shock when compared to the actual professor. For Psych of the Adolescent, I heard she is very difficult.
