Great teacher who can relate to students. She has amazing personal experiences to share and is transparent. Easy to work with and also get along with.
I enjoyed taking your class. You didn't just pat us on the back and say good job. You gave us feedback that made us delve deeper to get a better understanding of what we were learning. The one thing that I would have benefited from was a little introduction into the networking terms and how some terms are interchangeable these days.
Deborah is like a "Order of Merlin/Death Eater Class A" programmer, she knows how to wield code. I wish GCU prepped more on how much would be required so I could have prepped better, but Deborah has always been more than accomodating. She is a seasoned veteran and unlike her unfeeling 0 and I counterparts has a big heart for the willing student!
Great teacher and knows her stuff. She is very understanding and caring. Communication is key so if there is anything going on that will interfere with your work let her know and se will work with you. Hands down one of the best teachers of GCU!
Hands down one of the best teachers of GCU!
Best teacher I've ever had. She always makes sure you understand and really cares about her students learning and taking the information with them. If I could keep her for all my IT classes I definitely would
Deborah is a really amazing professor who understands that the current generation of students does not learn the same way that our parents did. She is always willing to help you out with your assignments and due dates are flexible if you let her know ahead of time that it is going to be late then she is ok with it. Very helpful with everything!
Haralson is my all time favorite teacher. She cares so much about her students and makes real relationships, and she loves what she does and is extremely knowledgeable. If you have the option, take her class!!
I love Haralson! I had her for my ITT-121 class and it was the best class that I have taken so far in college! She gave each us a hug on the first day and she really cares. She will tell you straight up If you're wrong and try to help you as much as possible. I'm kind of an airhead sometimes so to have a teacher like her is amazing! 10/10!
Super easy class but you learn more than in a lecture class that is for sure! Amazing teacher would take her class over and over and over again!
Professor Haralson is hands-down probably the best professor at GCU! She makes me love coming to her class! Her lectures are short and interesting, instructions are clear, and she will occasionally either leave out an assignment altogether or at least make it a lot easier. However, in all this, there is still plenty of room for critical thinking.
Haralson was a great professor who cares about her students success. She is funny, easy to talk with, and overall a great professor. She has a vast amount of knowledge to offer to her students, and she teaches it well. I recommend Mrs. Haralson to any student that is able to take a class with her. You won't regret it!
Awesome teacher! She offers tons of knowledge and the assignments are real life scenarios. She is one of my top favorite teachers.
I've had Haralson twice now, ITT116/CST111. I picked up a minor in Cybersecurity, just so I could take her again. She makes these classes fun for those who don't even require it. Make sure to commincate with her if you're going to submit an assignment late, but actually do it! Every assignment matters, especially if you miss class as much as I did.
Haralson is a wonderful professor who has experience in her field and effectively relates her experience in the classroom. She does 90% of your work for you and basically gives you the code for the that week's assignment. You can't go wrong with her.
Haralson has been one of my fav professors here at GCU. She has great industry knowledge in information technology. Decent amount of project work, but she is very clear in what she expects. Lectures, for the most part, are informative... she ventures off occasionally. overall, as long as you show up and pay attention class should be an easy A.
My favorite professor at GCU! Im in the IT program so Ive taken a few of her classes. Very caring for her students and always there to help. If you dont show up to class youll be lost because most of the homework is done in class. Recommend taking Haralsons class!
Haralson is one of the most genuine professors there is! She is always there to help and she wants everyone to succeed in her class. You learn a lot in her class, so make sure you show up, otherwise you will be lost for the next class. She explains well and is always open to questions and explanations. I recommend her, she's great!
I'm glad I decided to take this in class. She made is fun and I looked forward to showing up to class everyday. Daniel Kelley
Professor Haralson is probably one of my favorite professors I've had here at GCU. She cares about her students doing well but is also not afraid to be stern when she needs to be. Mrs. Haralson treats her students like adults in the real world, versus how some professors treat there students like children and talk to them like children. 20/10
Deborah is an AMAZING professor. She genuinely cares about the students and has the best lectures. She makes learning something very new and foreign easy and fun. I have never been excited to come to class until taking this class. She will motivate and give you the tools to problem solve on your own. Hands down the best professor. Take her class!!
Mrs. Haralson is an easily accessible professor outside of class, but can be considered too gentle with her students. Providing one or two days extra rarely is respectable, but not a work or more for many students that piggyback off their peers. If you don't attend class, good luck finding out assignments changes! Or pray your peers are kind.
Mrs. Haralson is a wonderful professor to take at Grand Canyon University. This was my first class with her despite all of my colleagues at least having her once. It is rough taking a summer course so I don't recommend it, as all the material is crunched in. Make sure you attend or make arrangements with colleagues for help. This class is no joke!
Overall the best teacher I've had at GCU!, very caring she definitely wants everyone to pass. She makes assignments changes so it's important to come to class. She lets her students out early. Lastly, she provides extra credit now that's a plus. Easy to reach her on the remind app to reach her out of class. If you have her as an option don't pass.
Honestly the best IT teacher at GCU. The classes can be challenging, but always in a good way that enhances learning. She can be tough on students, but only because she wants them to learn and she cares for every student in the class. Take her if you can!
Professor Haralson is a solid choice for CST 111. She makes a pretty difficult class a lot easier and less stressful. Her expectations for projects are not too crazy and I got an A without too much stress.
This professor is really good. I loved having her as a teacher and I hope to take one of her classes again. She made class so fun and enjoyable. I learned a lot in this class. You also make a lot of friends in this class which they will help you in any way possible.
This is a great professor to have! Her style of teaching is informative and makes the material much better to understand. Would definitely have her as a teacher again!
All around a great teacher who I felt cared about my education.
This professor was fantastic, she allows the class to have some challenges but never left us to be all on our own. She had a great sense of humor and knew when to make jokes. The class was a great introduction to computer programing and made me excited to continue.
One of the best professors I've ever had who inspires her students to learn and creates a great learning environment.
Professor Haralson is hands down my favorite professor I've ever had. If it were an option I would have her teach all of my classes. She is always willing to work with her students to make sure they get there work turned in as long as you tell her what's going on. She's extremely understanding and treats you like an adult.
Really great professor
Professor Haralson is one of the most informative and inspiring professors I have ever taken in my academic experience. Her expertise by far exceeds all expectations, and she is always willing to serve her students first and get a better understanding of where they re coming from. I highly recommend this professor for any class. Thank you!!
This is most definitely my favorite professor at this school. If you are put in this class you can count yourself lucky. Never have I had an instructor that so genuinely cares about the students in her class. I have had her a few times at this point and every time it is my favorite class. If you have the opportunity to have Haralson, TAKE IT!!!
Professor Haralson is one of the best professors. She used the first few weeks to ensure that the students were in the proper class section and understood what was required. She is like you mom she cares but will be disappointed if don't meet her expectations which she makes very clear. If you don't show up to class expect to fail.
Great teacher. She is very knowledgeable in the IT field. Hope to have her for more classes.
Professor Haralson is one of the best instructors I have ever had. She is knowledgeable and witty all at the same time. Attending her class was one of the best things I looked forward to during my week. I would definitely take her again if I had the chance to.
This was the second time I've had her. She really wants you do learn the topic and is more than willing to work with you in and outside of class. She doesn't have tests and only a few papers, It's more of one giant project that you chip off every week and get apply what you are doing to the real world.
Show up to class, do your homework and ask questions. Shes very understanding, helpful and encourages her students to do well. Also, a great sense of humor!
no comment
Lots of detail-heavy assignments. She has a good sense of humor and a strong personality, but can come off as condescending to those who ask for help. Quick to respond to questions outside of class.
Very funny, understands the material, student success is top priority, and would help on her free time if necessary. Very relatable and did a great job making the subject easily understandable.
Super knowledgable teacher, lots of fun and cool stories. She really helps the first half of the semester and then the second half she leaves it up to the students. It is a really good way to teach, lay the foundation and then let them do their thing. If you still need help she will still help! Nothing but good things to say here!
One of the best professors that I have ever had!! WOuld recommend to any friend that asks me about who they should get for this class
Professor Haralson is an amazing CST professor, she can answer any question you have in your class, if you even have any. I learned so much from her, and as a person who isn't great socially, I was very comfortable approaching her with questions or even normal conversation. Very friendly, made CST very fun and made me want to go to class every time
Deborah Haralson is one of the best professors that I have had instruction from since I have been attending Grand Canyon University. She is supportive, fun, and enjoys creating friendships with all of her students. Her response time is impeccable through remind. Show up, ask all the questions you can, and reach out to her for help when needed
Once you understand how she grades you will have a great time getting good grades as long as you do the work. Haralson is a great, relatable, and available teacher. She cares about her students and is available to help with technical difficulties outside of class. She has experience in the industry and is quirky cute.
Prof. Haralson is super cool! She's super fun, and very understanding when it comes to extensions/mistakes/redoing assignments :) You can also leave early most classes if you wanted to, as she's very concise and gets everything done early.
Going to class is not mandatory as you can access the material through zoom. However, you will not receive participation points and you will fall behind on the material. She walks you through the assignments and gives clear understandings of what's going on. So please go to class.
Great professor! my first semester had her for 2 classes. Really made those classes fun and easy along with that I learned the material as well.
Deborah is a phenomenal teacher. She is engages her class with clear instructions and utilizes humor and pop culture to make the lessons entertaining and memorable. She teaches for the love of teaching which is demonstrated by her care for her students understanding of the course material. She is fantastic and I cannot recommend her more!
I wish she could teach all my classes, I've never enjoyed a class as much as professor Haralson's!
Professor Haralson was an awesome Professor! We did most of our work inside of class which was so clutch for decreasing my workload outside of class! The class is very hands-on and moves very fast which creates a very non-boring learning environment.
This class was very informative and she did a good job of making material and lectures we needed accessible and viewable as recorded videos to review. There was quite a bit of homework but it was manageable and easy to follow along and complete. Overall, she was great and cared about her students very much and I would take her again if possible.
She doesn't like grading everybody's assignments, so most of the time we do them as a class, which is really nice. The only complaint I have about her, is when we are doing certain coding assignments, she tends to go rather fast and doesn't care if you can't keep up with her. We didn't take a single test in this class, easy A+.
I've had professor Haralson multiple times through my college journey and she's been great for all of those classes. Would recommend to anyone!
Haralson deserves the world and more. She is one of the best professors I have every had. She's kind, funny, caring, and if you have a question that she cannot answer, she will look it up with you and learn along with you. She's extremely knowledgeable and will invite student to see marvel or DC movies in the theatres with her XD
Easily the best professor I have ever had! She is very engaging and you can tell she truly wants her students to enjoy the class.
Professor Haralson likes to keep things real and edits the assignments to mimic real world events. A lot of the assignments that the course has are more traditional assignments like papers or projects, but Professor Haralson will change them to make them more pertinent to what would happen in the particular situation in the real world.
Professor Haralson likes to keep things real and edits the course assignments to mimic real world events.
Great professor that knows a lot about tech. assignments do change from what is listed but she does record all lectures.
Lectures are fun and applicable to assignments.
Best professor I've had so far in my professional career. Clear on assignments but may get lost in thought during class.
Helps you daily with any questions, shows assignments fairly and how to make use in the real world. Very funny and helpful:)
This was a new course and my class was the guinea pigs of the course which made it hard for the professor to make sure all of the software to work the first time. Lots of re-watching zooms for assignments and it was hard to apply what we were learning to work. Very caring and generous professor. moves extremely quick and you need to be at class.
I had Professor Haralson for ITT-121 and ITT-216 and she was awesome! She is really knowledge in her field and has tons of experience with great stories. She is very helpful when it came to class questions and just by simply going up to her and asking for help. She would walk you through solutions.
Show up to her classes. Her assignments aren't hard as long as you follow the exact instructions she gives you. In fact, don't even look at the rubric unless she tells you to. Also, don't turn in assignments late. If you are going to be late on something, let her know beforehand. She is very responsive. (Use Remind) Above all, pay attention!
Professor Haralson made my class easy and educational at the same time. By following along during class to complete most homework assignments, I have effectively learned much more about networking than ever. She is also very caring for her students and is willing to help them catch up if needed while still holding them accountable to seek help.
Professor Haralson is one of my favorite professors. She made the curriculum super fun and easy to comprehend. Her lectures are easy to follow along and she is very understanding. 10/10 Definitely would recommend and take again.
She is an amazing professor and very understanding and cares a lot about every single one of her students and she is very knowledgeable in the fields that she teaches and instructs very clear and will walk you through everything!
The class is tedious but the teacher is amazing. She cares a lot about practical experience that you can use beyond college.
The class is very tedious, but the teacher is amazing and she doesn't grade hard. She cares a lot about practical experience that we can use beyond college in our careers.
If she dont like you, rip your grades.
Professor Haralson is very knowledgeable and there is no reason to not get an A if you show up and do every assignment. Most assignments are hands on and you get a lot of useful experience to use in the field.
Deborah is a great professor for learning, she cares about every student. She is very blunt but teaches well, participation is only in class and her instructions in class are what assignments are, not what is online so make sure to listen carefully for what she wants. Besides that she is a caring, funny, great professor!
She is an amazing professor who cares about the students. She may move fast, but you are in IT so in reality not that fast. She provides everything necessary for 100% on each assignment and even links step-by-step guides online. It's a easy class to get an A in and she even gives extra credit/one extra day cards. I Highly recommend her class.
she was great but the instructions lacked detail and i had lots of trouble with them even though im techy
If you get this teacher RUN. Her instructions are so unclear and fast and she blames you for not understanding it
Honestly, I'm unsure how this professor has such a high rating. You ask her for help, and she sighs heavily as if you just woke her up from a nap. Unclear instructions, and half the time she is confused herself.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR THE REVIEWS ARE LYING!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE TAKES MONTHS TO GRADE ASSIGNMENTS AND ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND HER. SHE MOVES WAY TOO FAST AND EXPECTS everyone to understand her. the class requires 40+ pages of work for just a singular assignment. Please take David Parker instead of her for the love of Neptune.
This professor expects the most for each assignment it's expect to have at least 60 screenshots or some of them you need 180 screenshots. pls read the other bad reviews before taking her! she does NOT follow the rubric.
I had a great experience with this professor. Yes, there are many screenshots, but the assignments are easy if you follow her steps. She explains everything clearly, helps often, and responds quickly. Skillable was new for everyone, but she guided us well. I learned a lot and felt supported.
Attendance is definitely mandatory because she doesn't follow the rubric, really ever. That being said, just follow her instructions given in class, because 9 times out of 10, she makes it easier than what it says to do in Halo.
she is a teacher that actually is willing to help students who ask for it she will help you if your struggling with a subject and put in ways that are able to be understood if any advice for her classes the information she gives will help you in the class
Mrs Haralson is a Good professor. ITT-121 was definitely a hard class, but it was mainly due to technical issues with the virtualization software used. She was always willing to give help when needed and was very reachable and reasonable, the only real issue I could say is that sometimes it's fast-paced but lectures are recorded so it's not a issue
Deborah Haralson genuinely cares about her students. She is very patient, encourages participation, and takes time to help anyone who needs extra support. She creates a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
This professor will go on tangents all throughout class without giving one piece of good advice. Everything in class will not be related back to the homework and on top of that, she will be irritated by simplest of questions asked. eventually she gave up and gave everyone an A on their last assignment
