This tiny blonde woman with a soft voice knows how to teach! She is extremely patient and understanding. She will stay on a subject until everyone understands it. In this class, expect to work but she is so nice, it doesnt feel like work!
She really knows her stuff and is willing to help you in any way she can. (She even races cars!)
She is a very nice teacher. Her lectures are very clear and thorough most of the time. She won't move on until she answers your question satifactorily. But she gives a lot of homework. Watch out she know Martial Arts too.
easy class i'm not good at math and got and A
Great teacher! She never move on to the next lesson until each student has had their questions answer. She only grades you on your test (4 test; 12-15 questions), the final project, and final exam. Attendance is optional if you rather learn on your own.
She is one of the nicest teachers Ive ever met. She taught me a lot. She is extremely knowledgeable about all of the topics in the class. She is also very helpful and understanding.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! seriously, u will regret it. I'm amazed there's only good ratings here, she is so hard and most of my class is getting low grades on the tests cuz of her hard tests which consists mostly of impossible word problems.
Do not take this teacher for any class, avoid at all costs. I have taken her for college algebra, pre-calc, and trig, so if anyone would know what they r talking about it would be me. It is true she may know what she is talking about and she may be helpfu
Could care less about students, Test material not covered in class nor in HW, although she says they are. Test are also very very hard. Go to another campus if u need to.
one of the best calc prof. Valencia has to offer. an amazing individual who is willing to help if you ask. anyone who does not pass does not deserve to be in the sciences1!!
Her tests are horrible, and they consist in 5 regular problems and 21 word problems. If u like solving word problems I suggest taking her, if u are bad (like me) solving word problems, don't even think on taking her.
SHE MAKES STATISTICS EASY. SHE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO BREAK DOWN ALOT OF MATERIAL AND EXPRESS IT CLEARLY. I PLAN TO TAKE HER AGAIN FOR TRIGONOMETRY AND ONLY WISH I KNEW HER EARLIER IN MY YEARS AT VALENCIA. OVERALL SHE IS AN A+
I absolutely loved her class. I use to be afraid of math and algebra, but taking her class gave me the confidence I needed, and now I plan to take even harder classes and just hope to have instructors as good as she was. She is one of the best!
She explains well
She is a very nice teacher but for someone who hasn't taken a math class in a while she is not the one to take it with. Her test are extremely hard and you must either see a tutor to go over all of the work again or you will need to study tirelessly.
very upbeat, pleasant, very willing to help. Highly recommend her; although only have had her for statistics--open notebook tests--very good!
Just took her for College Algebra. I wasn't crazy about her notes. The ideas could have been explained a little better. If you have a hard time with math you will be spending a lot of time in tutoring so that someone can reteach you the material.
SHE IS VERY GOOD TAKE THE CLASS WITH HER !!!
I thought she was very clear and explained everything very well. Her tests may not be the easiest in the world, but...it's challenging. She was very helpful and I hope to have her as a professor in some of my future classes.
alright teacher! ask for help when needed. tests aren't easy!
She is a nice teacher and explains the material well.I am not good in math but after her class it made things a little easier..there was only 4 tests and thats all she grades, so if your not good with tests, dont take her class!
There are 4 tests that will make up the majority of your grade so if you're not good with tests this is not the class for you. There is also a final project were you must apply algebra to the real world with a reasearch paper, math concepts worked out and a visual presentation, it's strange but eas
very easy to talk to, very helpful
good professor but very hard on the grades. I will not take her college algerbra class
Really good teacher...tough, but really good!!
great teacher. if you did not like her class thats because you suck at math and should be in lower remedal classes...
Hard exams, though evaluating. Explains concepts really fast, but is very willing to help if you ask.
This teacher needs to find a way to make her classes less boring. She is a wonderfull lady, but I found it hard to stay awake. She doesn't grade homework and doesn't give extra credit you are graded on the 4 tests you take and that is it.
Mrs.Howard is a really nice person. She explains concepts well and is very helpful if you need help. I took the class once a week and we were in there for 2 hours and 45 min. If you have ADD DONT take this class....It's sooo long!! (Funny thing is, I don't even have ADD :)
She is a really good teacher and likes the subject.
Does not care if students understand material. All she seems to be concered w/is finishing her lesson. Does not give an idea of what material is important or review prior to test.
Her tests aren't easy, and the material can sometimes be a bit confusing. She doesn't give study guides. The Homework is your study guide. If you do ever have any problems with the material, you must ask her for help. Never be scared of that or you'll get lost and fail the course.
If you DON'T ask for help, it won't be given. If you DON'T ask her to work out homework problems, she won't. Simply SPEAK UP to get the grade you want. She doesn't respond to blank stares, people. Don't complain about failing if you didn't ask her for help when she is always so *ready to give it.*
bad teacher, goes to fast and her class is sooo boring. her test are really hard too!! woulndt recommend her at all!!!
Had her for Prep 1, Coll Alg, Trig, Cal 1, Cal 2. Great Teacher, inspired me to learn more and more mathematics. Very smart and friendly. Tough tests but she prepares you well. Wish I could have taken more classes with her but I ran out of math classes!
Shes very sweet. Great at explaining any questions you have. She is very approchable and really will go out of her way to make to help you understand. This was the first math class i have taken in 2 years and i got an A. I would definitly recommend her... and i really didnt think her test were that hard...
she is a happy person, beautiful personality, always there to help, knows her stuff, her tests are little tough but she prepares you well. don't worry if you are not good at math, she gives you chances to get better grade. best teacher!!
She was a great teacher, this is how all professors should be, Polite, well organized, and informative. She is always asking if we have any questions. I didnt pass because of other problems that I was having during the semester, but defiantly not because of this teacher. She should win an award or something.
Not a good teacher, confuses the hell out of everyone. Spends 40 minutes on basic stuff, and speeds through hard stuff. Will show more ex. on how NOT to do something which is useless. An essay on qudratic equations? NOT COOL! Starts new section with one minute left of class and keeps teching past the time limit. Also gives substitues when absent!?!
Mrs. Howard is a wonderful professor who is enthusiastic and dedicated to helping you pass the class. She is clear in her lectures, full of laughs, and the tests are fair. She prepared us for all of the tests and the quizzes are taken online so you may take them at a time of your convenience. I reccommend her because she is outstanding.
Not as good as i thought she was gonna be. I dropped her class after the first week. I didnt expect it to be easy, but i expected to actually understand what the hell she was rambling about. I also hate how she treats us like we're in kindergarten. First week of class she was showing us how to use a calculator. NOT RECOMMENDED
DO THE LABS! I got excellent test grades but did not do the labs so I got a C due to the #'s. I understand but she is unaccomadating. I had bronchitis and sinusitis and she would not let me make up the test even with a doctor's note. Tests are vague and she tests to "trap" you. Easy material but you HAVE to attend, even if you are as bored as I was
I'm not sure what these people are talking about. Howard was an awesome teacher and if I could I would take her for every math class that I need in the future. She is extremely nice and will help you with anything that you need. She goes at the classes pace so if you don't understand something she will stop and make sure that you do. Take her!
Great teacher! Honestly, if you put forth the effort she makes this horrible subject very easy to understand. She does work with those who really work hard and she will explain things over and over until she feel confident that you know it. She drops the lowest test grade. I even plan on getting help from her next semester for college algebra!
Professor Howard is an EXCELLENT teacher, she is very helpful and she is bubbly. She is one of those teachers that really care about her students. She will help you till the end. There is online HW which is very easy, and her tests are almost identical to what is on her website, so review those and you will go GREAT as I did, A+
Professor Howard was great, she really makes sure you understand the material and you never feel dumb asking questions. Homework is great, and you dont really need the textbook, just the CD-rom, her tests arent super easy, study her practice Exams and you'll be ok! Shes really nice! :)
Professor Howard is a great teacher. Everything is perfectly clear. If you don't understand the material she will guide you through it. Perfect class for the ones who have a hard time grasping math and the concepts. TAKE HER!!!!!!
Great Teacher. Made Trig really easy. Always available in her office to help... She will go over the material over and over again until peopl eunderstand and the homework is much harder than her tests. Great Class!!
you do not have to go to class ever, not helpful at all! teaches super slow and she dropa a quiz grade, lab, and hw grade. if you do not need to study for math or never need help take her
Professor Howard is an excellent professor. Do ALL the homework and get EVERY POINT possible on the homework and the quizzes because her tests are EXTREMELY hard. If I had it to do over again, I'd do extra homework from the review questions in the book.
This teacher is awesome. She will help you and answer all your questions without making you feel stupid. She has a really bubbly personality that is nice. She knows what she's talking about and communicates it clearly, as much as you need. Online component is easy if you do the work. You will learn a lot in this class. Great experiance.
Prof. Howard is very sweet. She cares about how you are doing in the class. She is always willing to help. Her class was not easy but I had to go to physics why would I want an easy A?
Really great teacher. She is always happy and tried hard not to bore the class. She seems like the type that will give all her students A's and candy at the end but don't let her smile fool you. She means business. Still she is SUPER helpful and I liked her teaching style. I'm taking her again. I enjoyed math for a change! TAKE HER!
She is an excellent teacher! the class could be a little difficult but if you ever had any questions she would answer them for you without making you feel stupid. She is also always available at her office if you ever need extra help. Her tests were easy if you study, if you dont then yeah I guess they are hard.
she was an ok teacher. she didnt mind going over a problem several times. you only have four tests as your grades, and she drops the lowest grade. the final takes the place of the lowest grade. just do the homework, that will help you with the tests.
Very helpful. She will work through any problems you have questions on. Assigns homework, but it's not mandatory. 4 exams & a cumulative final. Use her study guides to study for the tests. They are VERY similar!
If you hate math TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I dont know how she does it, but she makes it easy! I never liked math but I was able to get an "A" in this class. she is VERY helpful and knows her stuff. I would take her again. EASY!
Great teacher, made this class and trig easy for me to understand. Just apply yourself in her class and you will do just fine.
Pre-Calc. Awsome teacher, makes things crystal clear. Wants you to do well. Kind in general. We only had 4 tests in her class and a final, i got a B in the class, H.W. isnt checked, but she assigns it and goes over it in class. You can ask her any questions any time. Shes funny too. It wasn't to bad, but i hate math in general. Take her! I would.
Dreadful teacher. She has no idea what she's talking about. She spends 95% of each class answering questions from the previous section, then maybe 5 minutes going over new material. She wonders why there are so many questions. Be prepared to teach the subject to yourself if you take her class. Avoid her at all costs is the best advice I can give.
Very nice lady and she goes over problems that you have questions on. She will help you if you ask, even after class. You'll only fail this class if you don't study.
Nice lady i guess. Hard to understand and she works through the problems on the board so fast that she usually gets them wrong and the class would have to correct her. Doesnt explain whats going to be on the tests just gives you like 7 or 8 sections to study and tests you on like 10 questions. Not my favorite teacher avoid if possible take Berman!!
This woman is amazing! I have taken college algebra and have failed it twice already and she somehow made it all make sense to me! I never did any homework since its not mandatory and just did the chapter review before each quiz and I passed with an A! 4 exams and the final. Final exam grade replaces your lowest regular exam grade if higher than 70
She is a great teacher. the class is hard but i dont like math. we never use the book so dont waste your money. all our work is done on coursecompass.com she will help you understand. shes very sweet and id recommend taking her!!!
Wow, i had her as a substitute teacher while mine was out for 2 classes, and I really lover her teaching. She is so much more helpful than the one I'm taking now... Prof Graubner. I'd advise taking her because she really wants to help you learn and she's nice and best of all... she knows how to connect with the students.
This teacher is amazing. She comes to class everyday with a smile on her face and always opens the day with a rediculous story about her kids. She always goes over the homework and spends a lot of time on the basic concepts. She explains things in a new way and helps a lot. I failed my 1st MAC class, I got an A here. Do your work and youll do fine!
SHE IS A REALY EASY TEACHER. AS LONG AS YOU DO YOUR H.W AND QUIZES ONLINE, YOU DONT REALLY NEED TO COME TO CLASS. THE ONLY TIME YOU NEED TO COME TO CLASS IS WHEN IT IS TEST DAY. I GOT AN A IN THE CLASS N I BARELY SHOWED UP.VERY EASY. MUST TAKE HER!! =]
She is a decent teacher. Very light hearted and sweet. You never have to come to class, and the homework and quizzes are online. Test may be difficult if you dont study.
I LOVED THIS CLASS & I HATE MATH! She is SOOOO hopeful! I failed Alg. 2 in high school & have always been horrible in math but I got A's & B's on her tests w/ the exception of 1 high C b/c I had missed classed a lot.The homework & quizzes are done online & you can redo the homework til you get 100 & you get 2 chances with the quizzes! TAKE HER!!!!!
Def. take her. Very cheerful and soft spoken. Don't buy the book you don't use it. Just do the stidy guide and you'll pass the tests.
GREAT PROFESSOR, there is no such thing as a stupid question to her...Easy to understand, do your homework, ask questions, and you will see that pre-calc has never been easier. TAKE HER, don't have to think about it twice.
She's a very sweet person and will help you if you ask. It's just difficult because the grades depend on only 4 tests that you take. You have to study and work reallllllllly hard to do well on the tests. Overall a great lady though!
SO nice, always happy. She'll answer any question, even if it means questions take up the entire class time. Tests are 10 questions and she gives lots of partial credit. all hw is online, make sure you do it! lowest hw is dropped and lowest test can be replaced by exam. At times was a little confusing, but its math..whos notconfused at times?
Probably best math teacher at valencia. Its pretty impossible to not like this lady. Shes always in the best mood and very helpful.
She is really nice. Overall I liked having her as a teacher. She answered any questions that anyone had. She is always in a good mood so you will never get any attitude from her.
She is a very nice lady. Will answer any questions you may have. Her teaching method wasnt the best. Grades depend on 4 test. You have to study really hard to do well. Homework isnt mandatory. As long as you show up at some point in the class she wont mark you as absent. Nice lady, but I wouldn't take her again.
Great teacher, wish she was teaching business calc and stat! Very very helpful if you aren't good at math...took her for college alg too. As in both courses. All homework isnt due until night before a test and is impossible not to get 100 on it, unlimited attempts allowed
Very helpful, very clear and precise in her explanations. Uses software that simulates the graphing calculator projected onto the whiteboard for step by step explanation of the calculator's functions. I wish she taught every math class I had to take
shes averynicelady and allbut there wasthis lasttest before thefinalthe average on the last test wasaround a 50 out of 100 thenlastdayofclass insteadofdoing a review ofherfinal whichwascumulative insteadshedecidesto teachanewsectionwithoutknowingifwe understood it. she saidlook overthe past tests and i did and i still failed the test and the class.
HARD CLASS! SO DIFFICULT TO GET AN A IN...U CAN PASS BUT GETTING AN A SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE
Great, nice lady, just very hard to follow. not a good teacher but a great person!
I took her this summer A term. She is an excellent teacher! The class could be difficult if you do not do your H.W. but if you ever have any questions she is always happy to answer . The class is very easy if you are ready to study, but that is why we are in college.WONDERFUL HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER !!!!!!!
I would not recommend this teacher. She is helpful and all, but the way she teaches it's like she expects you to know how to do it. Her methods for solving problems are methods I've never seen or used before. The lab instructor explained things better than she did. Her tests are difficult and are not multiple choice.
Professor Howard is such a sweet lady, and extremely helpful. She doesn't make you feel stupid if you don't understand something. She really helps you understand the topic, and will do whatever it takes to help you understand it. I WISH she taught more classes. You will not regret it if you take her.
She's a really nice teacher and helps you learn the material well. the problem is you cant retain the knowledge her examples are easy, the homework is toally different, and the online program is horribe
She is a sweetie! And takes time to explain in all different learning styles. Take her! She was so helpful. Even though she seems like she is teaching 2nd grade, she is totally sweet. She explained everything to me, and helped me pass akgebra!
She is the sweetest lady and will help you as much as she can. Her tests are pretty hard but if you study you will pass.
Seriously one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. I went the day before the test and test day, and aced the class.
If you are rusty or not good at math, plan on working hard. I made an A, but WITH MUCH effort. Tough exams. 3rd exam: 74 students & avg was 55! 5 tests, cumulat Final, and HW each worth 100 pts. No curving but fair partial-credit grading. Rework HW probs b/f exams! Final is more general but need 2 study. She is FAST but clear. Recommend a recorder.
Professor Howard is a very sweet woman who clearly loves to teach... she is a great professor and knows her stuff. She doesn't grade on a curve but doesn't grade too harshly either. I got A's on most of her tests without really studying. Homework IS on coursecompass and mandatory though, so if you don't like that then stay away. I loved her though!
Extremely helpful, she really cares about you getting it attendance isnt mandatory great class overall ow yeah and shes pretty hot too
Professor Howard is simply fantastic. She is enthusiastic about the subject matter, warm, polite, and personable. She is well-versed in mathematics, and takes time to explain difficult concepts to struggling students. Her board technique is "textbook" as far as clarity and neatness. She is organized and fair. Tests are quite reasonable.
Professor Howard is great! I'm taking CALC 2 with her currently and took precalc with her as well. She is clear to understand and very motivated about the subject matter she teaches! You do need to do your homework to suceed, don't expect to come to class and not do your homework and still get a good grade!
Took her for CalcI this summer. great teacher, very clear, takes her time and covers the material well.
took her for calc I over the summer. was little rough to get moving at first, but she really took the time to make sure everyone in the class understood the material before moving on. do the homework as those problems will be on the quiz.
k do not listen to the other comments about her being hard. Yea if you never payed attention in high school and barely graduated then yes it will be challenging. She's awesome. Her tests are fair and she is open for questions at any time. BEST Teacher! The homeworks are only there to help you( they count as a test grade)bEST TEACHER!
Mrs. Howard is terrific! I had her for College Algebra and am signed up for her Trig class. She explains things very clearly and she really wants her students to succeed and will take the time to help you if you ask. But you do have to put forth the effort. It's math people, unless you're a genius you will have to study!
I took her for Precalc and Trig, simultaneously. I thought she was really helpful, always in a good mood and enthusiastic. Spends half class answering questions from the homework. She grades fair, and gives partial credit if you were on the right track. Homework is a must, but I did well in both classes after not having math in 7 years.Take her
(Precalc) She is a great teacher. Very helpful, explained the course material extremely well. Easily one of the best math professors that I have ever had. The sample tests tell you what "type" of problems will be on the real tests. As a bonus she is super cute and has a great attitude. Attendance was not mandatory except for test days.
Awesme teacher. Makes the class as easy as possible for you. Definately takes the time to make sure EVERYONE understands the material. Do the homework, and you wuill be fine.
Easy class, I got 99% without using extra credits. She's really nice, sweet and helpful. HW is a bit too much so stay organized! Notes and practice tests are there to help you. She'll help u solve some hw problems in class, that is nice but also boring to me cuz most of them are easy and some students just keep asking one questions 3 times!!!
Truly the Best math professor i've ever had. Cares about all her students and is very clear with her explanation of topics. She will show you more than one method to solve equations. Awesome!
I'm a ucf student you decided to take MAC 2311 at vcc. She act extremely nice when she teaches but really she is not that nice when caring about student's grades. I got an A on quizzes and on one exam. The rest of her test were high C except the final i got a 55 it was multiple choice test that i believe was not. My final grade was 79. I went to her
Does not care about her students grades. If you are pre med student take another teacher in vcc
I took this class last year and I really liked Professor Howard's class!! She goes over each problem step by step and asks her students if they had any problems on the homework, which she goes over before every class. Attendance is not mandatory, but the in class notes are helpful for the exams. Definitely take this class for college algebra!!
Best teacher I've ever had. there's always HW, but if you plan to do about one hour of HW for every class, you will make an easy A. She spends the beginning of class answering HW questions, then teaches a new lesson, and gives quizzes on HW. Do the HW! Tests are based on HW. Do it. Easy class.
Super nice professor, but not the most thorough teacher. Mostly answers homework questions instead of teaching the chapter sections so it can be kind of frustrating. Doesn't care about attendance so definitely take this class if you're good at math and can teach yourself.
She's nice, but the way she teaches doesn't address all types of learners. I struggled with this class so much. She puts homework online and never gives reviews for tests.I only reccommend this class for people who are good at math.
Great teacher...took her fro trigonometry, very helpful. she makes sure you understand. homework is not mandatory but helps you understand the concepts. 6 test total- all resemble her previous tests. the questions for the final are from all the 6 tests.
Great professor, very knowledgable in math all levels. Only 4 chapters tests, final and homework that all counts as 6 tests. She loves questions answers before during and after class. Does not take attendance but it is hard to pass the class if you don't stay for the in class lectures unless math is your major.
Deb is a very nice lady that knows alot about the subject. Unfortunately that doesn't translate to her teaching skills. I would say she's an average teacher at best. If you don't care for math I would say stay away from her. If you like math (like me) than you'll probably be ok.
I have her now for pre-calc. 4 tests, a final and homework all worth the same which is 100 points. The practice/ example tests she posts on her website is a great review before any test. Very funny and I wish she taught calculus
great professor. Math was my worst subject and she made it so that i could understand. The tests were hard if you have trouble with word problems but if study then you will be ok.she drops the lowest test grade in replace of the final if you get a C or better and counts hw as a test grade, extra credit is available and easy.TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Very laid back. Great class, no surprises and goes out of her way to ensure you are prepared. Drops lowest or replaces lowest grades. Do your homework and you will pass. Hot.
Pre Calc is easy with her. I went to her office hours a few times and she helps a lot. Her test reviews are on her website, and are exactly like the test. Goes over homework in class also. 5 Tests total. Replaces Exam grade with one test. Homework online. She is really one of the best teachers I ever had, for math, very knowlegable.
Good Class, went to her office hours and she gives you attention and wants to help you. Class is 5 tests, all homework online is worth a test grade in the end. And some quizes on the homework, just one question quizes drops lowest 3. Reviews are on line. Impossibile to fail.
She doesn't have any teaching ability. You need to learn the subject when you are doing your online homework. exam questions are different than your homework and classwork. She is nice person but she is not a good teacher. If you want to learn math dont take her class.
i found that she is a very nice teacher but when it comes to tests she is veryyyy hard when it comes to grading them so if you end up having her make sure to be comfortable with the last few questions on each section of homework especially the word problems. its actually quite hilarious how misleading her personality is
She is a very nice teacher, but that doesn't mean she's a good one. All the hw is online, she stalls in class, and teaches a new chapter in the last 10min of class. She's smart but terrible at teaching. If you're not good at reading the book and teaching yourself the lesson then DO NOT TAKE HER.
This professor was awful. I have never gotten such a bad grade in class before. She lectures as if you're in kindergarten which makes the material so incredibly boring and difficult to comprehend. In addition, it is a ton of work: homework for every section, pop-quizzes for practically every section. I would not recommend.
I seriously do not know how this woman has a job. she is a horrific teacher and would not recommend it to anyone unless they want to fail for sure. She is absoulutely no help and she doesnt care if youre failing. Her test are hard and you have to teach yourself. goin to class is pointless but its also a grade.DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
She is a great teacher! Her classes may be boring or the way she is teaching is not like others but she is there to help you, her exams are never too hard, she has nice little easy quizes every week to keep you warmed up. Also she drops the lowest test of yours, drops 3 lowest graded quizes and 2 lowest homeworks. Easy A if you pay attention to her
shes a good techer. she always asks if we have any questions on the homework and will work them out for you. her reviews are very helpful. fair grader. I want to take her for the other calc classes,
I took her for statway. It was her first time teaching this type of class and she was successful at it. She does somewhat read straight from the book but she is very understanding and great to work with.
Homework is online. You have until the day before the test to turn it all in. She has examples of the test on her website so I suggest you study it. Honestly I stopped looking at the book after a couple of weeks but you need the code for accessing HW. Do not have a class afterwards that starts 10 minutes after her class is over because she goes between 5-10 min over. She has quizzes in class sometimes. Easy pass if you know math well
I really enjoyed her teaching style. She teaches you the lessons, then sends you home to do the homework. The next class she allows the first 20 minutes for any questions you have on the chapter she taught last class. My only complaint is she skips some material, which is confusing. But she wants you to pass. Easy grader, gives extra credit chances
May have been a decent teacher until she started using ALEKS. Then when the class tells her how bad it is, refuses to listen. I didn't sign up to be a guinea pig.
Rusty in math? Don't worry here are hundreds of review questions that you will have to do before your current homework unlocks. Want to know what will be on your test? Here, have a 3 page list with 100 possible topics. Not enough homework? Here have a critical thinking portfolio with problems so difficult that I can hardly do them myself - Prof H
I wouldn't say she is bad at teaching the material. However, I do think the ALEKS program is really bad. The students tried to tell her but she did not seem to care. I have never spent so much time and effort yet still not pass. Spent too much time trying to complete all the work rather than focus on material. Avoid if she continues to use ALEKS!!
Maybe it's because it was a different course but I took Professor Howard for her statway course and I must say she is an amazing teacher. She's always very helpful and gives great examples if you're not understanding something. If you have the option to definitely take MAT0029 instead of MAT0028.
Although I have always hated trigonometry, this professor somehow kept me interested throughout the whole semester.
I just finished up this class and I must say it was by far the easiest A I've ever received in math. Professor Howard is a really great teacher but the SL leader didn't really know what he was talking about half the time, so overall take the class but beware of the SL sessions.
The main issue I have with Professor Howard is that she continued to use this ALEKS program even when the students told her over and over again that the program was making them fall behind. I have never received less than an A in any math class at Val. I even took Trig with this professor and got an A. IF SHE IS USING ALEKS DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Prof.Howard is a good professor with a passion for math and loves to teach to her students, however the Aleks program that she uses for homework is ridiculous, hard and uses an extreme amount of time to complete.
I took Professor Howard for Trig and Pre-Calc. She is a great teacher who is truly passionate about what she does. Super friendly and helpful. If you ask her to help with a problem, she will go to the board and write out every step with you. I wish I could take all my math classes with her. Also, this is coming from a UCF student.
Great Great Teacher! She knows what she is doing and she has such a positive attitude. I like her. Shes cool. If you fail this class then you chose to fail. She gives a lot of extra credit out.
I really liked this Professor. I am disappointed in how I did on the final...it seemed harder than all of her other tests. Her tests are usually straightforward and very fair. She is passionate about math, and an excellent teacher. I gave it my all and still got a "B", but some are more gifted at math than others... I would recommend taking her.
I have had some crappy professors but I wouldn't say Prof Howard is one of them. She is helpful, HOWEVER,ALEKS is NOT. As of right now I am dropping this class due to not learning anything. I feel like I'm practically teaching myself because of the program. I hate to have to do this but i feel if she didn't use the program she would be awesome.
She is easy if you understand fast and do all the homework
Her calculations on multi-step equations were all over the place and difficult to follow. She didn't communicate concepts in a way that could be easily understood not to mention she put you all in groups from the get go and she has zero tolerance for absences regardless of the situation. If you don't like math enough don't take her.
Professor Howard is amazing........ She is so bubbly and very happy even at 830 in the morning. I took her for intro to stats and it was so easy.... just make sure you do all your homework and study for test and you will be fine..... it is a lot of group work but just pay attention in class! Lab sucks its not even related to math but was easy!
she uses the ALEKS system, which is online but it really helps students go at their own pace. I got through 13 of the class the first time i logged into the system. If you use the system you'll get an A. She's a great teacher.
All homework and quizzes are online on the Pearson program and I hated that. 1-2 quizzes each week and tries are unlimited. Only does 1-2 problems per section and when you get to the homework, you're completely lost. The tests are exactly like the quizzes and are fairly easy. 4 tests and a final. Would not take again.
Professor Howard was amazing. Stats is hard, but she was always there to help me with my questions. She is a very sweet lady with a great sense of humor. We do have homework but its all online, and so are all the quizzes. She also drops three quizzes and one homework. Also gives extra credit for donating blood or $ to a charity. TAKE HER!!!
I love Her! Great at teaching math all hw and quizes done online test are from homework. You have a whole week to finísh hw and quizes unlimited tries it is Alot of work but she Works out the problems in class drops 1 homework 3quizes and replaces your final (easiest test of all) with your lowest test grade 3test in total.
Prof. Howard is so great! She's always so happy and she really loves what she teaches. She explains things very clearly, and your best bet is to work slightly ahead so you can ask for specific questions you have issues with. You will pass if you keep up with ALEKS, but it's a good bit of work if you don't learn quickly. Great prep for Calc.
Professor Howard is an amazing and caring professor. If you do your homework, you should be ok. I fell behind early in the class due to the death of my sister and Prof. Howard personally tutored me to get me up to speed. Stats is hard, but got back up to making A's again. I took her for Stat 1001, too, and had the same opinion.
Everybody had trouble with this class but it was literally so easy. The exams are posted on her website with almost the exact same questions. All homework is unlimited chances so all you have to do is listen in class and you are guaranteed an A.
she's honestly the sweetest person. She doesn't take attendance but don't think that is a good thing, if you miss a class you miss a lot. Quizzes and homework are all online and there is A TON of it. She teaches well but then you go to do the homework and get so lost. I spent numerous hours at the math spa and still couldn't understand :(
She was a sweet professor though the coursework was pretty difficult to understand. Basically had to teach myself through homework problems and it kept getting harder and harder. She is willing to help you out though questions on homework or notes don't match up with the tests so you don't know what to expect. Never take her again!
Deborah is a kind woman, but the whole class spent so much time correcting her mathmatical errors that there wasn't much time to learn. When I asked for help on one problem it took her 45 minutes. Tons of homework all due at the same time. She is extremely scattered rarely shows up for office hours. Tutoring center useless, final cumulative.
While she is a very kind and lovable woman, do not take her course. She will try to explain things the best she can but even she confuses herself while doing work which makes it more difficult. The formatting she does when she teaches and on the homework is completely different than the way her tests are written. Even tutoring didn't help here.
Professor Howard wants her students to succeed. If you show up to class and do the hw you should do pretty well. The tests are the same as the hw, and she offers extra credit.
She is amazing professor who loves her students. When she talks to you she always smiling, she is very warm and nice person. She makes this class easy with her nice personality. She cares and loves what she is doing and very good at. Class is hard but if you have take this class I will take with her.
Gives good feedback, awesome and nice Professor. The only thing you might hate is the homework. There's a lot but they'll make you perform better on the tests.
class is only reviewing homework questions then she lectures about the next homework you have to do. All homework is due on a certain day before the test. being a math education major really helps me get through her class.
I had a great time with Professor Howard. Really cares for her students and their grades. She wants to see everyone pass. Lectures but gives a lot of time to go over any hw questions. Hw is not hard as long as you lay attention in class. Gives extra credit and helps in office hours.
Gave good notes but the didnt help with the homework, only the exams. Knewton sucks. She has long exams that are all written.
Prof. Howard is super nice and everything, but isn't that good at explaining things. I'm already good at Trig, so this class wasn't hard for me, but if I didn't know how to do trig, I would have failed for sure. Everything is based on MyMathLab.
Professor Howard is one of the best Professors I have come by here at Valencia. I actually like Math but I have never taken any statistics class prior to STA 2023, so for someone who didn't know anyone previously she has made this class so easy and fun. She is the best at explaining and is very open if you need help outside of class. She's amazing!
Pros: Good @ explaining material. Online HW/Quizzes unlimited attempts until night before exam. Can ask HW questions at beginning of class. Extra credit given. Partial credit given for all work shown on exam. Previous tests are posted on website, STUDY THEM. Cons: HW is different from explanation. Pop quizzes are done when students are absent.
Prof Howard is amazing, lots of homework but she gives extra credit, everyone passed her class with an A. Gives pop quizzes when students are absent :/ but you should def take her. I don't like math and got an A+ taking her class, she's accesible outside of class as well, as long as you do the hw you should be fine (she reopens before the final)
Statistics has been one of the more tougher courses that I have taken but Professor Howard is available to help. You really have to make time to practice and the online tutoring is a great resource to utilize. Not too much homework at all.
Professor Howard posted video tutorials each week for the problems so you have guidance. She offers opportunities for raising grade such as extra credit and replacing lowest test scores with the final if you scored good. Work usually consisted of 1 HW, 1 quiz, and a discussion which has multiple attempts. I would take her class.
Teacher was very helpful and helps you out. All assignments are able to make-up, but make sure you read the deadlines for test and quizzes! All assignments are on My Lab which I don't really like. 1 Discussion per week.
She's a really nice teacher and I loved her class. Her YouTube videos are really helpful, but they weren't enough for me to fully understand some of the concepts. Make sure you take tons of notes or you won't pass. Also, every week-ish there's a quiz. The quizzes have the same questions as tests, so memorize them and you can do really well.
I really enjoyed Professor Howard's class. She genuinely cares for her students and we have good conversations. The way she teaches helps me understand the content well. She makes sure everyone understands the material and helps anyone after class if they need it. Please try and pick her for any class if possible
One of my absolute favorite Profs I've had so far. Math was never my strong suit at all but I discovered I was better in Statistics and Professor Howard added to that experience perfectly. She's incredibly considerate and a sweetheart who has a huge passion for what she teaches. She provides every possible resource for her students to help.
This professor is amazing! I have always had a hard time in math, like a C student, but with this professor I was able to understand the topic. Your grade is based off four things, discussions, HW (weekely only like 10 Qs max), quizes (about 5Qs), and Test. She is really sweet and loves to talk to you, she loves when you ask questions. I recommend!
Professor Howard was honestly pretty good. She is a very sweet lady and tries to make sure everyone understands what is going on. There is no judgement in asking her questions. All of the assignments are on MyMathLab and it's typically 3 assignments per week with a test after every 3rd chapter. Tests are worth a good amount of your grade.
She is an understanding/good teacher. If ur confused then she will help you, no problem. I did get a 79.28% as my final grade but that's good considering people fail stats easily. Prof Howard was an amazing teacher and allows a 1 time extra credit. Tests are 50% so fail and ur grade drops. U can redo HW and quizzes until the last day of ur course.
Professor Howard is a nice professor but not the best. I understand statistics is a difficult subject but between the difficult 1 attempt tests and the differences between what was taught and what was asked of us, I wouldn't recommend the class. Granted, I'm not good at math in the first place but maybe someone who is wouldn't have so much trouble.
Honestly, that's the hardest class I had, but that's because I've never been good at math. She is very kind and love to answer questions, she makes everything to you to understand, but her class is overall very tough. If you are ok with being challenged, go with her, if you just want straight A's and easy classes, I wouldn't recommend it.
She was very good at explaining difficult topics and started classes by asking if we had any questions on the homework or quizzes that had been taken. The workload is very manageable, usually a short homework assignment and a short quiz due every week. She is very nice as well, I really enjoyed her class. I highly recommend.
The professor is caring and very nice but her way of teaching is like that of a 5th grade math teacher. She will teach by her way and not the way of the book. Everything is done through Pearson so not learning by the book makes the class harder than it has to be. I had to teach myself every lesson because her lectures did not help at all.
Professor Howard is a caring and understanding instructor who makes an effort to ensure everyone grasps the material. While the class can be challenging, she provides plenty of support, including allowing redos on homework and quizzes. unstuck study and other study tools helped me stay on top of the workload.
I thought professor Howard was great. I will say statistics is way harder than I assumed it would be from the name. The material was hard for me to grasp but she did a fantastic job explaining it. Make sure you get the T-84 calculator. I would recommend her as a professor for sure
Prof Howard was very kind and super supportive. There's a lot of group work during class, all very straightforward with random groups. If you follow in class and take notes, you'll pass. All hw and quizzes are open book and completed from home, you just have to make sure you understand the material and know how to use your calculator.
Very sweet and understanding but I taught myself most things. Lectures are pps she put on canvas so you can skip the lectures tbh. Group work every week. Lots of discussion posts and notes but all very easy.
I've taken stats at UF years ago and I wish I had Professor Howard back then tbh. She's very caring, classes are very interactive, and stays patient with students from various mathematical backgrounds. If you honestly put in the effort and stay on top of assignments/class attendance, there should be no reason that you get anything less than an A+.
Prof Howard was incredibly sweet, caring, and interactive w students. Answers any questions you have and doesn't make you feel dumb for asking. All work is on Pearson, is open note and can be done at home. Lots of group work, make sure you understand how to use the calculator. Would definitely recommend taking in person. Loved her!
She was a great teacher, super sweet, and answered her emails quickly. The class itself was hard in my opinion, but she made all the guidelines very clear and always gave full credit for discussions as long as you followed the instructions. Definitely recommend!!!
If you want an easy class, choose this one. It doesn't use honorlock, doesn't give many exercises. It leaves everything unlocked for you to do whenever you want. You can do the quizzes and homework as many times as you want until you get a 10. Plus, it responds to messages super fast.
An amazing teacher; I would recommend her to everyone. I took a mixed-mode class, and she grades attendance, but it's only once a week. All her exams are online, and there's group work in person. She's so sweet and understanding and explains amazingly. Easy A as long as you try. 10/10
PICK HER!! She offers so much extra credit, no honor lock, responds fast, drops lowest grades... my queen!
