Good teacher for Business Law
No Comments
weirdo. her husband teachs at sju and i cant figure out whos weirder.
WEIRDO, and DO NOT get on her bad side, but then again, you don't really have to try too hard, she picks her favorites the first five minutes of class after she shows up half an hour late.
always shows up a half an hour late. Lets you leave a half an hour early though. Her cell phone rings more than the student's phone in the class. Evil midterms and finals.
Nice Professor.

She always comes late, her tests are hard as hell, a you have current events every week. Her cell phone rings all of the time so if your does she does not mind and she does not care if you are late, and she is a decent grader!
Tests are really long, but then she gives like a 20 point curve, so it makes up for it. Really easy and she's always late, so thats another plus.
shes definitely missing some marbles...class jumps from topic to topic....you'll probly need the textbook for this one, and you will be writing notes all class
OK professor. No Homeworks is a plus, but she takes attendance and her class is impossible to stay awake for if you got the 90 minute class. ADVICE: Don't waste all your energy taking a class worth of notes everyday...all the test material is in the book!
really nice teacher, test are long but not that bad
take notes, read text...do those 2 and its a guaranteed A
Great teacher! This class was so interesting, she teaches a very practical and relevant side to law. Plus, all the tests are multiple choice! I would definitly recommend!
Gives alot of, but good notes. Tests are out of like 120 points so if you fail you suck. Gets off topic a bit but class isnt too bad. Makes you look up things occassionaly but no real hw.

Great teacher. Talks VERY fast. Very thorough though. Very understanding and nice. Tests outa 120. Not an easy course though.
She's a pretty good teacher. She's really passionate about law. Her tests are really long and a little tricky, but besides that, she's good.
super nice professor very nice and helpful but tests are super long and hard no need to take notes though just buy book everything is in there she talks super fast u will never be able to write everything she says so dont even try only gives occasional research hw easy thogh A possible but hard work
Nice teacher, very knowledgeable. Her tests are long and somewhat tricky, but she'll curve them. She involves the class and makes it interesting. She's constantly on the cell phone and always last to class but I definately recommend her!

Fun class
Very good prof. Her tests are ridiculously long and tricky, but she does curve or give extra credit questions. Fair grader. Class was lively, she picks good topics and cases to discuss in class. Will learn but your GPA might suffer a little. Recommended.
her exams take forever and they are so hard.. like check this out average of class last year was a 52 i think she gave a 30 point curve .. how insane was that
TAKE HER! BEST CLASS EVER! You learn ton of stuffs relating to life, that you can used! She picks great topics to talk about and give ton of examples. You must read the book and study, TESTS ARE TRICKY!!! She makes you think in class and in the tests. She's also very reasonable, so if you have problem let her know. GREAT PROFESSOR!
She is the best! I love her examples she uses for class. All interestin topics and great examples. Her test is long and a bit difficult but if u read the book and pay attention in class (which is gonna be easy since her topics are good) u will do great!!
she was extremely boring and always late. she took down people's phone numbers to call when she will be late, but sometimes she just didnt show. if she gets there late and you arent there she's pissed. tests are extremely hard, you must read the text, ignore her notes they only confuse you. Only take her if you must. Willing to help. Means well.
Too much work. Must read the NY Times, always comes in late, and her tests are long and nasty. A must to avoid. Forthe midterm, we had to know the constitution, which was a joke.
Her lectures are filled with examples that ultimately gets you confused on the topic. I personally did not understand all that was going on unless I read the chapters on my own. She assigns current events projects a total of 15 articles from the NY Times at the end of the course. Her tests are very detailed, it's not an easy thing to pass.
I dropped this class. I studied and recieved a D on the midterm and asked her if there was any way of raising my grade to even at least a B or C for my overall grade. Obviously she said no, so I dropped it. Not worth it for me. Like what everyone else said, she is always late and expects us to wait for her.
Professor Kleiner is a great professor who knows what she is talking about due to experience. Class is very interesting and informative. Although the mid-term and final are tough and lengthy if you study enough they are simple. She gave off plenty of days for Jewish holidays as well. She's kind of hot too
Prof. Deborah Kleiner is one of the best teachers in st. johns unversity. especially in law since she is a lawyer herself. during class she goes over everything clearly and if u dont get it she goes over it until u do.... the test arent easy but if u ytake good notes and pay attention then the class could be as easy as it could get.....
Great Professor! She gave us three exams and a project. Attendance is counted. Exams are tough but if you study your notes they aren't too bad. She gives insane curves on exams and I got an A. You really don't need the textbook at all. Cancels a lot of classes. She is very helpful and will answer any questions you have until its clear.
Not that bad at all. She gives alot of notes but explains everything very clearly and tries to make you understand. Not alot of work just a midterm, final, and current events project. Tests can be hard but not bad if you study. Shes a bit crazy but makes class interesting at least.
she gave one test and the class average was in the 60s or 70s. beware: SHE DOES NOT GIVE 20 AND 30 POINT CURVES ANYMORE..she curved our exam only 5 points. 4 or 5 chapters in one exam and horrible multiple choice..i dropped this class after getting a C+ on the first exam thinking it was ok go get alot of questions wrong since she curved higher b4
AVOID if possible. Very nice lady that goes over the law in class....but then gives you two impossible exams that everyone get 50 and 60's on, which only get bumped to 60 and 70's because she no longer gives big curves like she used to because she got tenured and doesn't need the great ratings anymore
DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANNA D ON UR TRANSCRIPT. I TOTALLY REGRET TAKING HER. MY FATHER WONT EVEN PAY FOR ME TO GO TO COLLEGE ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THIS ONE D, AND IM IN HONORS!!
honestly cant stand her! dont disagree with her cause she will always say youre wrong and shes right! havent had any tests yet but seems like it will be extremely hard.. if possible get another prof shes NOT good!
I took this professor way back in Spring 1999. She can be a demanding professor, but if you take good notes and read the textbook, then you'll be OK. Word of advice to undergrads, take time to really go over stuff from the textbook and make good notes for yourself so that you understand material for her exams.
class is pretty okay she seems like a nice professor but she is not as understanding as she used to be(stated in previous comments) many people failed her test and she only put a 15pt curve on test which will still result in an F she offered one 10pg extra credit worth 5pts ONLY, if your good in law take otherwise you should stay away from her
She is an OK professor. She teaches fast but once you read the textbook and write notes for yourself , you'll be ok. She is nice though and is still understanding.
She rambles a lot in calls and goes off topic. Her teaching style sucks! You have to teach your self and study hard for her exams. He is not very organized at all! I would recommend another professor if you can. Her tests are hard!
Unless you want to be a lawyer do NOT take this class. It is very boring because she rambles a lot and it's hard to pay attention. DO NOT recommend.
I am now interested in law after taking this class. She really knows her stuff. I sat in the front, she talks Really fast, it isn't impossible to take good notes, I'm terrible at it but I kept up. The tests were literally everything she talked about in class, they're actually fairly easy if you spend time studying. Only a midterm, final & project.
I don't understand why so many people complain about her. She's extremely nice and helpful to all her students. The class has the midterm, final and 1 project due at the end. She does talk fast but I kept up and understood everything. I would take her again if I had the chance.
Okay professor. Didn't really enjoy her class, but not because of her personally. Not very organized in her teaching style. Hard to keep up, so pay attention. Doesn't give homework. One very easy semester project which helped bring me from a C to a B+. If you show that you care about your grade, you should be fine.
Hard teacher. You have to study all your notes in great detail and must also read textbook to be successful on exams. Straight lecture. Doesn't really write notes on the board, you have to memorize them as she is speaking. Very nice and helpful though. Not an easy A. Have to study real hard for the exams. Good luck!
Kleiner is very knowledgeable about her subject and all her tests are multiple choice! She's often 5-10 minutes late for an afternoon class but doesn't give homework or classwork. Must come everyday to take notes. Textbook not necessary but it is helpful
She was not very helpful, she is mean. I would not reccommend taking her class at all.
Let me start off by saying that this class is hard and even harder because of her teaching method. All she does is lecture and rarely puts notes on the board. You have to study very hard and engross yourself with the textbook. Attendance Mantor. No Review before any of her 3 Tests. The only reason why I got an A is bc I worked my ass off. Good Luck
She does not use the book, so attendance is very important. No homework, 1 current events project, and her exams are difficult to understand but she does curve. You can pass if you study and you pay attention in class and write good notes.
Requires a lot of studying. listen to what she says and write is all down even the examples. It will help when you have to study. She is hard to follow but you eventually get the hang of it. Try not to miss a class unless you know someone in the class and make sure you write down everything and study everything you write down.
She's great! She gives lots of examples in class, making the material read in the textbook much easier to understand. She's a bit unorganized, her voice can be a little annoying and she tends to ramble sometimes but other then that she's extremely knowledgable and passionate about law. Just make sure you study hard for her test & always take notes!
She's not that bad. I liked her class. Gives a ton of examples but talks REALLY fast so read the textbook and take notes from there. Only midterm, final, and current events project. Does an online extra credit thing that is really helpful in preparing for the tests.
Usually 5 -10 minutes late, gives lots of examples. Not necessary to take notes if you do the mindtap and read the textbook. On the midterm i got 108, she gave 10 points possible extra credit and curved it by another ten points. not a lot of work, and its cool if you're late just let her know at the end of class
Nice professor! If you need clarification, she is there. The material is not hard. Prior knowledge of law or criminal justice is very helpful. Tests revolve around the basic concepts of the terms taught in class. So learn the concept and not the definition! But, overall I enjoyed her class. Lectures may seem never ending but that A is worth it!
She will never answer your emails. Taking notes in class will not help you. The best way to pass the class is doing the online assignments, doing well on the Current Events Project, and reading the textbook on your own. Gives a big curve though.
She made law fun. The lectures might seem long but if students engage in participation, it kinda becomes a family like enviornment. She's also passionate about law and would gladly answer your questions in full detail. She is a true professional. She can arrive late sometimes though.
Professor Kleiner is an alright professor. Her lectures are all about her talking and students taking notes. Tests are average, if you read the textbook you should do good. She also curves a lot.
Very clear in her lectures. I personally found law interesting, but it wasn't hard to follow along in her lectures. Offers extra credit online and you need the textbook for it.
Very clear in her lectures. Offers extra credit online and you need the textbook for it.
Textbook required but I only used it to help me with extra credit. If you can take notes fast, no need to crack open the textbook. Everything she says is on the exams. Bring a laptop. Only midterm, final and and current events project. Gives extra credit that is helpful with preparing for the exams.
I fail her class in my first semester and make my GPA become a trouble now. My advise, if u are an international student, DO NOT take her class. She barely put notes on the board, lecture is hard to catch up and never review before tests, never reply your email and never use the text book.. I feel sad of taking her class. Sincerely.
Two Midterms with 100+ questions however she curves a lot which is great for you. One current events project and one news article presentation. Learned a lot. She really knows the textbook backwards and forwards.
Two Midterms with 100+ questions with huge curves . One current events project and one news article presentation. Learned a lot. She really knows the textbook She also allows you to do an extra credit assignment online for the course of the class. I say do it to show you care it also helps reinforce what's on the test.
2 or 3 tests (depending on time) which are pretty hard. Current events project which isn't hard just tedious. All of the answers to the homework are online. She comes late a lot and lets us leave early sometimes. Her lectures aren't that bad overall she's pretty chill
Professor Kleiner is a good professor, and person, but her classes consist of only lectures. The tests had huge curves so that's always a positive. They're 100+ questions. The textbook is basically where you'll get your knowledge. She's not boring, but the classes become so boring after awhile because it's her talking the whole time. Easy to pass.
BUY THE TEXTBOOK. YOU WILL NEED IT FOR THE EXTRA CREDIT. If it weren't for the extra credit, I wouldn't even suggest the textbook because she knows it like the back of her hand. Usually gives large curves on tests, which will be beneficial in the end. Only gives a midterm, a final, and a project due at the end of the semester. Try to participate.
She only gives two tests and a large curve is usually given, so that will help you a lot. She gives extra credit which counts as 10% of your grade, and you can find the answers online (usually on Quizlet). If you come to class, participate, and do her project then you'll be fine
Dr. Kleiner was a fairly decent professor. What bothered me was there's only 2 tests (a midterm and a final) and if you mess them up, then you screwed up 80% of your grade. Spends all class lecturing, but it can be interesting if you like law. HUGE curves on tests (midterm had 15 point curve). Also there's extra credit online.
This is one of the best professors. Show up to class, take good notes, and study the textbook chapters. Midterm and final are both 40% each. A project worth 10%. Answers questions clearly and is extremely knowledgeable in the subject. Although its all lecture its worth it because its both interesting and well thought out.
The only reason you'll need the textbook is for her online homework which is basically extra credit. So do it. Lectures were so long and boring because she just lectured, the entire time. She gives one current events projects. Her tests are exactly based off her lecture so show up, she takes attendance. Oh, and HUGE CURVES on tests!!
80% grading is your exams, every exam is over 100 mcc. but good thing is theyre fairly easy and she curved on that a lot. just review and study on your own base on cengage textbook should be enough. almost no paper, no presentation, but her lectures are not too helpful, I honestly studied all on my own, if you're good at study on your own, easy A
She was an okay teacher but she didn't really teach. you can take notes but she lost her laptop with the notes but if you do the mindtap youll be fine. there is only two test with huge curves and an current events project. honestly an easy A
Decent teacher. Huge curves on tests. Just do the mindtap assignments and do a little reading on your own and youll be fine
She gives out this Current Event Project and it was so annoying to make but, it was an easy A. Her midterm and final are hard to study for because the lectures are not like her tests. But, if you listen in her class and get on her good side, you should be fine.
Midterm and final that she curves a lot. Interesting classes
Usual law class, lecture heavy, take the notes. The MindTap assignments are fairly easy so make sure you do them. No papers, textbook is needed just to study the test. When studying, read the chapters and memorize the terms that are at the end of the chapters, they'll help a lot. Midterm and final and maybe one more exam. She knows her stuff too.
Overall, not a bad professor. I received an A! Lecture heavy. Textbook comes with online software, Mindtap Cengage where you'll receive HW. I studied on my own through the Adaptative Test Prep tool, very helpful for exams. 3 Exams (Exam 1, Midterm, Final) usually over 70 MC. Huge curves/EC. Lenient, & funny. Current Events Project - start early!
she is so funny. she uses her students as examples and just says the darndest things. Never a dull moment.
She is an okay professor. Her lectures are really boring and she skips through a lot of the slides on her power points. While writing notes, I'd often miss the last few lines or a sentence because she moved too quickly. She makes you get mindtap which is expensive and is relatively easy. She is nice about moving to online classes with corona.
cengage questions for all chapters discussed. lectured for full 90 minutes. final was all online. other. test were tough
She is a super sweet professor once you get to know her. At first she can come off aggressive and her emails are also very aggressive. She uses Cengage which requires a lot of time and work. Her test are extremely hard if you did not study and are given under a very short time frame. Need to be willing to put in the extra work!
Great professor, interesting content if you are interested. Nice person, willing to work with you and help you if needed. Lectures can be boring at times and she skips around. Honestly, if you show up to class, read the textbook (which you have to buy new w/ mindtap), and do the assignments you should be fine.
Pretty normal. I didnt enjoy the class at all, thought it was boring. I took the class online Bc of covid, and she was good with that. Kind of disorganized, but not bad.
Okay professor, she rushes through the lectures but its an easy course. You need to buy mindtap which is expensive but its essential to get a good grade and also isn't difficult. She teaches the course good for a beginner course
The only thing I would critique is she does move through the slides way too fast. Otherwise, she was a good professor, with easy homework and essays.
The professor is a decent professor. She goes by slides a bit too quickly and gives no time to write the notes down. Homework and test are online. Weekly law articles. Grades don't get posted till after the midterm and end of the final.
She has great lectures. Uses great examples to describe whatever she is talking about. All of the homework and tests were online. There were discussions on canvas. Get ready to read. You have to pay for the material she gives you.
One of my fav professors this semester!! Her lectures were rly interesting and helpful. Learned so much from this course, and I even considered becoming a Law student because of this course LOL
Great professor! Lectures were interesting and assignments are online.
Professor Kleiner goes over the slides too quick and assigns about 3-4 chapters to read and complete assignments(find online) for every 2-3 weeks. Gave out three tests which are true/false. Gave 3 excused absences.
- knowledgeable - attendance is graded - lectures consist of going over slideshows that relate to the chapters assigned for homework - gives real-life examples that help to understand the material - available after class for questions - online exams/homework - no extra credit - overall interesting/easy class with informative lectures
Professor Kleiner was an amazing instructor. She is extremely knowledgeable in the field of law and her teaching demonstrates that. All tests are take-home including the Final (no midterm). There is weekly homework that can seem overwhelming but in reality they take around 20 minutes to complete. Overall amazing professor, highly reccomend.
overall an okay course. a few chapter assignments due each month - about 2 hours of work per month so not bad but assignments can be dense. in addition, she posted assignments on canvas without telling us so be sure to check regularly so you dont miss anything. final was a group project. overall a decent course and learned a lot
Professor Kleiner runs an informative class. While the lectures can feel rushed, the content is engaging and relevant. Assignments through MindTap are essential, but manageable with the help of resources like Unstuckstudy. Overall, a good introductory law course.
