She is a very stimulating professor! And her skills with the dry board makers is unmatch. She is also a very good teacher for the eager minds of tomorrow.
I took Ms. Mead for Organic Chemistry. The woman is awesome! I highly recommend her. She is highly knowledgeable in the field. The class is very hard, and there isn't room for slacking, but she's always willing to lend a helping hand.
knows her stuff. I am in chemical engineering now at a university and she can teach organic better than most. Take her than someone at UCF!

Great Teacher if u really wanna learn something
Ms. Mead was no doubt the hardest instructor I've ever had, but you knew that when you left you knew Organic Chemistry. If you had questions she would always point you in the right direction. Word on the marker magic.
good teacher

This is a hard class, you will need to study and do your homework. She has her good points and her bads. She has a tendency to be very loud and can play favorites in class, I don't recommend getting on her bad side. That said, she is a very good teacher and knows her stuff.
Mead was always willing to answer any questions. She took as much time as needed to make sure you understood-if you came to her for help.
She is a really cool lady, what a character. She is one of a kind- as an individual and as a excellent professor- very helpful too. She is the head honcho, and what she says goes. She can be loud& crack jokes.THe stuff you will learn in her class will blow your brain. Class isHard as h#ll, so get r
Absolutely wonderful! It's a hard class, everyone knows that, but you will remember the lecture for days after! I liked going to class to watch her act crazy (she's good at that!! ;) ) She breaks down every piece of the puzzle so you can understand it. Allows redos!! upto half of points lost!
Ms. Mead is a wonderful teacher. She is very good at what she does, and you will learn a lot.

Here's the deal: Material is hard, but test are almost 100% from notes. Try not to get on her bad side, because those who do recieve little help and what they do get is served up with a side of attitude. Watch out guys cause she's also a bit of a man hater. She also doesn't mind yelling at people in lab and embarrising them. Have fun!
She does not like men that is for sure. You will get discriminated against if you are a man and she will not be helpful.
Great teacher. She's gives clear lectures and notes. If you're capable of studying, you can pass her class. I once heard it was impossible to get an A in her class; Not true, I got an A in I and II.
VERY LOUD lady - but good teacher. She gives clear lectures and test off what she teaches in class. Take good notes and receive an A
Excellent teacher! Very smart and very straightforward. Show her the respect she deserves and she will respect you back. Bring colored pens!
this lady is crazy...she yells so much u dont want to ask her for help...she's pretty scary. but dont waste your time taking foundation just go into chem 1 bc i heard our class was doing the same thing as chem. I. its a hard class...in a 3hr class our break was the walk to the lab rm usually. i recommend just taking chem 1.
very helpful, always available, can be intimidating, very organized, lecture is laways clear, straight forward. I would take another class. Wish I had taken foundations with her.
Test is really hard. She is good at chemisty but not at teaching. Her lecture is sometimes way off from her test. Her test covers much more than her lecture. She tests materials that are not even covered in her lecture, that make many students confuse. Unless you want to challenge, do not take her class. Find someone else.
This teacher has a big attitude problem with everything ,even if your an A student, she will not withdraw you after deadline so whatch out. This class was to be an intro to chem not chem 1 This class is fun but dosn't help the GPA a bit
Be aware!!! She write board every single word. To understand the theory this helps a lot. But she will never ever show you how to do exercises. If she explain problems, do not ever expect them to be on the tests. She gives tests from other semestres to practice and she posts the answer, but in the actual test there is always tricky question.
The labs are nightmares, and you will never find out your grade until is very late to fix the same mistakes in other labs. There is a final lab exam (bizarre) and sneaky tests
She is a very cool teacher. I like the way she write on the board with different colors to show mechanisms. You can really learn chemistry in her class.
She is a good teacher for the most part but she is very loud!! This is distracting at times. I went to a different school for Organic 1- her course was WAY behind and we never actually got further than I got in my Org 1 class. This was an easy credit for me because it was mostly review...not exactly what I signed up for, but I'm not complaining.
bad: a very loud woman who snaps sporadically. her shouting keeps you awake but at times unecessary. if atittude was tweaked she would be an excellent teacher. good: very concise and detailed in the way she teaches, knows her stuff, organized, helpful.
good teacher..excellent way of teaching..she writes everything on the board and even tells u what to expect on the test..
Great Professor. some times she has a weird attitude but a guess it is part of her extroverted personality. it is a hard class but if you study hard you can do great. Mrs. mead kept office hours and helped students who needed. I would take her again if I had to.
she's a good teacher, knows what she's talking about but she is a B***h!! she has an attitude and isn't very nice!!i had knee surgery and she made me stand up in lab FOR 3 HOURS!!!her tests r crazy hard,u better have no other classes with her class cause she's always late to class and makes u stay late too!!go to labs and class and take notes!!
The Organics are very hard classes. She is very very knowledgable and willing to help those who help themselves. My only knock on her was she should hand out copies of notes instead of having you take 20 pages of notes you do not have time to comprehend during every class period.
She is an excellent Organic Chem teacher - better and more helpful than most other Organic teachers! She knows what she's talking about, and wants you to know it too. Organic Chem is very difficult but she makes it easy for you to learn the material. The labs are not too bad either. The practice sheets she gives also help immensely! Do them!!
very loud teacher, you'll be deaf by the end of the class but you'll will know your chemistry for sure! The Best teacher you'll have at SCC.
GREAT AND EXTREMELY!!!!!!!! HELPFULL, PlENTY AND I MEAN PLENTY OF OFFICE HOURS! Always willing to help and give plenty of practice problems.
She sucks! I really tried hard, but never made it. Four people in my group failed her class. We all did every assignment, and always showed up. I have no clue what happened. She did not help use when we asked for help.
THE MOST HELPFUL TEACHER EVER!!! its a hard class but and if you study hard you will pass! SHE IS AMAZING!!!
Her class is very hard but she gives you every advantage that she can; she is always willing to help, but you have to ask. She is utterly intolerant of laziness and stupidity but if you are honestly working hard and asking for help, she will be your biggest cheerleader. She is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had.
Prof Meade is a wonderful teacher. I barely referred to my textbook because her class lectures are very clear and prepare you for every exam including the Final Exam. This class requires a lot of work. If you do the practice she recommends you will pass every exam. I hate Chemistry and dreaded this class but I got an A and learned a lot from her
Very difficult class, although she is crabby, she is extremely helpful. Tons of office hours and will help. Returns tests (NOT labs) very quickly; allows redoes on exams. Study the tons of practice material she sends and you'll do fine. Organic is extremely hard, but after taking it with Mead, you will actually learn it and have fun doing it
She is really good, but the material can get hard, because if you don't understand one thing at the beginning, you won't be able to go forward in the class. She is a great teacher though, really knows her stuff. She is not that approchable at the beginning, kinda intimidates, butshe'll answer your questions if you dare to ask.
I love chemistry, but with her is even better. She loves what she does and wants you to love it too. Don't be scare by her, she might scream from time to time but is for your own good. Don't miss class, don't miss lab, do your homework and practice the exercises fromt he book and the ones she gives you.
It is very obvious that she knows what she is doing from the start of the class. The material from the class is demanding by itself but she presents it in a fashion that is easy to digest. Just do every review assignment and read the book after she goes through the material and you'll be fine.
OMG..The best teacher ever!
I have always earned straight A's but I got a B in this class. I took it over the summer accelerated though. She seems to know exactly what shes talking about & has unique ways in explaining it but she comes off as a know it all. I was scared to ask her for help because she is not very friendly...she talks very loud. do practice problems in book!!!
Professor Mead gets off on chemistry. You can tell she has no life. However she is very thorough w/ her notes. They are color coded so you know what's going on, on the board. Her lectures are very clear if you listen and study the tests should be pretty easy, but she is not afraid to yell or make you feel dumb if you ask a question. Labs are fun.
DO NOT TAKE!! Very unprofessional, and screams in class at students when a simple question is asked. Course material was very difficult. Highly advise taking someone else!
Ms. Mead is great Chemistry teacher. She knows the material and loves to teach it. If you study her notes, do all assignments and attend all lectures and labs you will do fine. She is extremely helpful and always available during her office hours. She might scream from time to time, but it's just part of her charm. You'll like her very much.
Very hard class, teacher writes everything on the board and goes very quickly. Nice lady but only speaks Chemistry. She screams alot in class. If your a chem whiz you ll be fine if not I would recommend taking another teacher. Text book required wa s horrible and came in black and white.
I took this as an accelerated class and I DON'T recommend it! There is too much information to learn in a short amount of time and the labs were always rushed. Other than that, the teacher knew her stuff. She wasn't too keen on helping people out outside of the lectures, but she sends a bunch of study material online. Worst textbook ever!!!
She is a classic! Makes chem fun in her own crazy awesome way. Def the teacher to take for organic chem.
Must attend class she gives a lot of notes and homework. She expects you to be prepared and doesn't seem to like it when you ask questions. She does have office hours and will help outside of class. I don't think I'd take her again.
Best teacher for organic. Don't take anyone else. Not easy, but you will learn a lot. If you are a chem major, she will make the rest of your educational career much easier. Very structured, no tangents, lectures are detailed...don't miss class. Knows everything about OC and loves her job. When she's loud don't take it personally!
Great teacher - expects alot from her students and can be a strict grader. Do the work and study and you'll do fine. Very helpful.
Great teacher. About 80% of the class is math. She explained the steps in great details and gave endless examples that she ran out of time to teach the last few chapters. Don't miss class. It is not easy to understand on your own. A lot of pre-lab and lab assignments. She grades them. I am good at math and got an easy A and barely used the book.
I took Chem1 with Prof Mead and it was great. Six months later, I'm in the nursing program and her teaching was invaluable. Pay attention to dimensional analysis. You will use it again. Can't say enough good things about this class.
I was afraid of Chem. until I to I took her. Excellent teacher. She tells you how to succeed in her class on the first day. If you do these things you will get nothing less than a B. For those interested in nursing pay attention to DA.She teaches it the best and you will need it in nursing school. She is a great teacher.
Ms. Mead is awesome. I wish she taught chem 2 and organic chem 1. You dont have to read the book, her lecture contains everything. Tests are easy. She grades every single word on your report. I love her class :)
class starts out easy, exams three and four WILL require dedicated weekends... Ms. Mead was extremely great at teaching her material the ONLY TWO things that I disliked about her class is that she screams so freaking much ughh, and on her lecture days she makes class go 5mins+ overtime... Otherwise, honestly a great teacher. Passed with a B.
Excellent and very down to earth teacher. Expect to come to class & take LOTS of notes but these notes will benefit you greatly on the exams. Lab activities are fun & easy.
She is pretty awesome. She does her notes really well so that you will understand exactly what was taught when you read them a week later. She gives amazing exam outlines, without them I wouldn't have done as well. Best professor I've had so far.
I was terrified to take this class prior to starting it. I never took a chemistry class before and she made this class so much easier to understand and made me actually enjoy the class. She is a very helpful and fun teacher who breaks this class down so well. I wish I could take her for all of my science credits.
Organic Chemistry is not an easy class, but Professor Mead makes the class fun and interesting. She is very helpful and wants you to succeed in her class. All you have to do is study her notes and complete the practice modules she posts on Sakai. I passed her class with a B+ (almost an A)
The best Organic Chemistry teacher in my opinion. Her lectures are interesting and fun and she makes learning organic chemistry clear with her written lectures, not like other professors in my past that used power point which was not useful at all. Organic chem II is a hard class but with her instruction and hard work you will do great! Take her!
Hmmmmm.......Ms Mead is a little scary, but i kid you not, she has a very big good heart. Chem is no easy course. in her class, you gotta listen to her, she goes in deep with details. She curves a lot and give students more than enough chances to pass the class...I will def recommend her again and again.....
Professor Mead is great. She makes class interesting by having no filters about what she says. It's hilarious. She is extremely meticulous with her grading, but going in with the right attitude, you will come out with vast knowledge. Uses colors on the board effectively so students can see the flow of electrons in mechanisms, and just how exactly these molecules interact with each other. This class is not easy, but Professor Mead mitigates the punishment you'd otherwise receive elsewhere.
Professor Mead is absolutely a great professor to take for Organic Chemistry. In order to do good in her class, you must always come prepared for lab and always complete assignments before coming to class. Complete the practice she posts on Sakai prior to taking the exam this will improve your grade, its very similar to the actual test.
Ms. Mead is awesome and I can't think of someone I would recommend more. You will get what you put in to the class, so if you don't study and stay on top of your assignments, you better believe you will get what you deserve.
She is the only chem prof I've had that is nice. Great heart! It's very nice to see that she is helpful in the labs instead of looking at you like you are a stupid like others do. Very skilled for teaching this subject, which is not easy. She used colors on the board to better explain what's happening. Video lessons are 5 stars. Simply she is best!
Had Orgo (I) with her. Very helpful and clear. Posts lectures online (videos), TONS of practice problems with detailed answer key online. Class time used for quizzes and review. Very helpful after class and office hours. No extra credit but has a curve at the end. This class is though anywhere you go but she makes it very doable
I took her for Orgo 1 and Orgo 2. She drops lowest grade in each section(quizzes, tests, etc). Lectures are online. Must watch lectures prior to class. During class, we do group worksheets. She posts all keys online. If you put your time in it, you can get an A. Orgo 1 was very easy for me, orgo 2 i have to work a bit harder. I never used textbook.
I loved professor Mead! She has a very animated personality. She thoroughly taught everything and was very entertaining during long lectures. The grade that you get in her class is really up to you. She is very helpful if you go to her office hours and there was always a lot of optional practice from the textbook or what she posted online
Though I didn't rate her the best she is a good professor to take for organic chemistry. All lectures are online & every class meeting you have a quiz and a lesson (that is completed in a group) you have to be committed to learning if you want to do well. She is definitely there for you though, she is a unique person that cares about her students.
Got A's for both Organic I & II. Must be constantly studying to get an A. Daily quizzes and assignments due at the end of class. Professor Mead loves to help those that are interested in the material and are actively engaged. Re-do all assignments, and tests should be easy. She teaches organic chemistry how it is supposed to be taught. MUST-take
The best professor I ever had, absolutely TALLANTED
if you must take orgo at seminole please make your life easy and TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Organic chem is a very hard course to get an A in but she makes it EASY since she records herself teaching and puts it up online. She drops lowest test, hw, group work, lowest everything. everyday is worth 30 points of work which is also easy since its groupwork.
Professor mead is an okay teacher, but gives you pretty much all you need to pass the class (practice worksheets). She is not organized & she does not grade asgnmts. quickly. It is the last week of class & I still do not have grades for any assignments. She gives test grades back next day. Gets annoyed when you ask questions/ don't understand.
Most of the class is lecture, labs are easy. She is very unorganized, expect to not have anything graded until the last week or 2. She posts study guides online that are the exact questions from the test. The study guides were not always posted on time. She is very clear with what she expects. Unorganized, sometimes rude, easy grader.
super unorganized. her lectures are literally right out of the book. she gets mad when you ask for help on equations. never gives you stuff she says she will to help out. she graded all our assignments just to find out she gave everyone the wrong stuff and lost papers. she said she hasnt taught 1032 in 5 years so i guess we were her trail class
Professor Mead is interesting. She is funny but can also yell to the top of her lungs. She is very unorganized with grading and is a tough grader, i received 1.9/2 on my pre-labs, like really? Her notes are organized but be prepared to work ur butt of for a good grade. Tests weren't as bad and labs were pretty clear.
Absolutely amazing! Organic chemistry II has been a struggle of mine for two years and I finally finished the class and I learned more with her teaching style than I have for all series of Chemistry combined. Mead knows how to teach in a way that sticks and you can understand it. Organic is not easy, you have to work for it and do every assignment!
One of my fav professors hands down! Very clear on what she expects from you and what you'll be doing in class. Exams are a cakewalk as long as you study and listen to lectures before class. Practice exams are identical to the real thing. Be respectful or she WILL yell at you. Easy A as long as you try! Can't wait to take for O-Chem 1 & 2 :)
Worst teacher ever. Self taught class and yells at her students. I definitely worked super hard for my grade. Cant stress not taking her class enough.
Mead is an amazing professor, I love her! She can be tough at times but she is MORE than fair when grading. There is an abundance of practice problems/exams WITH answers. She is very strict in lab, for good reasons. HW amount is not terrible so do it. I failed the 1st try and got a B the 2nd & am taking her now for orgo 2. TAKE HER! extra credit!
You MUST watch her pre-recorded lecture videos online prior to the next class. The videos are about 45min-1hr long and there are up to 5 vids each lesson (SO BORING); however, to prepare for the tests I would redo all lessons and the old practice test to study and it helped SO MUCH. Class is hard, but 100% doable. Just be sure to really study!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! If you want an A, spend a lot of time doing practice problems. Her online lecture videos MUST be watched ahead of the class meeting time in order to properly do the lecture assignments. Take good notes when you watch the videos. Ask questions, do the lab reports properly and use her practice exams for exam prep.
Professor Mead is one of the most respected professors. For the first few weeks, students felt her class is super hard because we had to watch lecture videos before attending class. For the last two units, the lecture videos were lost, and our class recognized the value of these videos and how much professor Mead care about her students.
I took Professor Mead in the Fall semester in person, and she was one of the best professors I've had. She provides lecture videos and numerous practice sheets. Class time involves group work(graded) on a packet similar to the practice sheets/ exam questions. This method is the best way to learn chem, do not take for granted and put up w/ the work.
Mead was interesting. Often times wed find ourselves walking on eggshells to avoid the self-proclaimed wrath of the redhead (her words, not ours). She grades hard on the labs, but gives partial credit on exams and classwork. There are anywhere from 1-5 hours of lecture to watch before every class, so keep up with that. Study for the quizzes!
Professor Mead is unfortunately one of the worst professors I've had. When asked a question during lab she may not answer, might give vague comments, or yell at the student for asking the question in the first place. Also, many things aren't graded until the last-minute, so you won't know what your grade will be until the class is finished.
Review for Organic 2: Mead is by far one of the worst professors I have ever had. She regularly called us stupid/talked down on us. She would get angry if you asked questions and made a student cry. She's unprepared, losing/not posting assignments. Exams outside of class time. 1-5 hours of lecture videos before class, 5 hours of online hw/week.
Everything about this professor is to learn it on your own so if you cant do that don't expect help as she cants explain any better than she does in her pre-recorded videos from years ago. I would strongly recommend looking for someone else to take I was lucky enough to pass the class. She made me want to change majors with her workload.
Very unprepared and unhelpful which is unfortunate bc this is a tough class as is. She grades slow and forgets to post assignments often. Take anyone else.
In class we are not taught. It is self taught, you watch the lectures videos and do the very long lesson worksheets. Some due dates are back to back (you have like 1 day to do the next one). Sometimes the lectures dont match the worksheets. The weekly quizzes have a short time limit. I do not recommend taking this with other classes.
She's tough but she teaches. I actually learned in this class and enjoyed it. Lots of group work and homework. This class takes time but it pays off. She doesn't tolerate dumb questions and forces you to use your brain. Easily irritated but she's fun when you get to know her. Would take again
Took her in the summer of 2022 and dropped in the second week. Class is self taught, and you have to watch 2-4 lecture videos before the next class. Keep in mind each lecture video is 2.5 hours long!! Awful experience. Get ready to have this class as a full time job. If so, the class is doable but not for the average full time working student.
Professor Mead has good and bad days as anyone may have, but I felt that there were more bad than good. I passed with a B because of the effort put in this class. You are expected to watch 3-6 videos before your next class and complete the lesson worksheet given. TAKE GOOD NOTES IF YOU WANT TO PASS. Say goodbye to your free time. Flipped class!
Flipped classrooms, be prepared to apply yourself. This class is the foundation course for entering master's programs in science, it is not for students looking for an easy grade. This class filters out those who try from those on autopilot looking to check off a prerequisite. She supplies all the material required to be successful, it's on you!
Flipped teaching style, but also seems to never have anytime to make homework assignments or to help if you need it. You'll watch (sometimes) hours worth of lecture videos & end up teaching yourself material. don't ask questions you'll make her angry, don't waste your money on homework that lasts 2 weeks. extremely inconsistent grading with labs.
She is very thorough in her lectures. They are pre-recorded & can be tough to get through because they are long, but she breaks down the concepts in a great way. Attendance is important as you are doing a group lesson with problems that you turn in for a grade. Lots of extra credit! Easy to succeed in her class as long as you are dedicated.
Mead used video lectures from +10 years ago to teach. Never taught in class only went over things. Always ended class early because she didn't have material prepared. Never graded on time nor followed the curriculum. Worse, she was rude and mean to the students. Bullied one student in particular. SSC HR even reached out to me about the treatment.
This is a difficult course; however, if you take the time to watch Professor Mead's recorded lectures, take notes, and practice, you will do well. If you have questions, she holds office hours multiple days a week. It is a LOT of work, so be prepared to dedicate majority of your time. Her practice exams are similar to the actual exams which helps!
