She is a very sweet woman who wants nothing more than to help her students do well in life, not just in her class. she will spend individual time with students if necessary, which is nice. she is a little flighty, in a more than tolerable way. There is a paper on Fight Club, which if you have problems with the movie you can read the book instead.

Her class is very easy. She is really straightforward about what she wants and very lenient. She is really out there though. Talks about random things. Her class will never get out early and hardly on time because of this. Oh well, still a really easy class

She is a 70's flash back but is fun to listen to. She allows the class to have imput on assignments. Fight Club paper better be good because she knows the movie inside and out and has read every article on it. Total of 7 papers, spaced really well. She will help in anyway she can, all you have to do is ask. Take the class and learn alot.

super sweet, very very straight forward and gives you multiple examples and she writes everything out for you. she describes everything that needs to be done, then reviews the assignments one more time before they are due. great prof!

She is a very interesting professor. It seems more like an online class because we meet in class and do mostly nothing. We use the textbook for a lot of readings to help with essays. We only do four essays, a term paper, and a portfolio. Her class is really fun but if your not a big talker she will leave you alone in a way.

Also, I loved her tangents because she has some tales to tell! Oh boy! And it also kept the class from becoming boring, definitely recommend taking her.

I took this course during a 4-week summer session. The class consists of a lot of reading, but its a whole semester in a four week class, its to be expected. And also two papers. The professor was very sweet, and helpful, and she made the class really fun! Its very rewarding because you have a good time, and learn a lot about life and history.

There's a quiz on every story, if she misses a class or arrives late she won't give a quiz(; Pay attention in class discussions and you'll get an A! I highly recommend her!

Her class was very easy and straighforward, she assigns storys and then gives a relatively easy quiz the following class. Theres group presentations and two exams. Attendance is mandatory and sometimes she can be a bit of a handful. Other then that very easy class with not a lot of work involved.

Very nice and sweet lady! There is a midterm test, a reasearch paper and a final. She also assigns a story to read every week and there is a quiz on it on the following class. Attendance is mandatory, only allowed 4 absences. Class can get very boring sometimes. Other than that very easy course, just read the stories and show up to class!

She is Wonderful and truely cares about her students and thier success. She makes herself availble,returns emails asap,and communicates well.Stay on top of the assigments, read the material and submit them on time and you will do well.You'll want to do well for her, becuase she cares so much. She is a good teacher. If you do your work turn it in on time you will get a good grade. Have fun in the class and just keep doing your best. Send your rough drafts to her and she will help you out. Study your grammar exercises and just do the work.

Okey is a nice teacher and is willing to help you. She expresses her opinion aside from the class work keeping the class a bit more exciting. You have a normal paper with no mla, second a informative, third a persuasive, literary analysis, and research paper. This class is a bit time consuming but you can do it if you put your mind and attention.

She is super easy! The quizzes are extremely easy! She tends to ramble a lot! You only get 4 absents and she does keep track of them. This class is really fun and we've watched a lot of movies. I really recommend taking this class if you dont want to take a regular eng lit. class!

Super easy if you do the work. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! She is a wonderful and crazy teacher! If you do the work, it pays off! I didnt have to write one of the essays because she always drops the lowest essays and assignments. Do the work or you won't pass!

She's a fantastic and interestesting women. She really knows and loves literature. Make sure you read all the material because quizes are issued after each reading. As long as you read the material and work hard on the 2 papers she assigns (She grades based on content, not how well you write) you'll do just fine.

Deb is an intering professor. Like any eng. class there is alot of reading and writing. 4 papers,grammer quizes,portfolio and term paper. Interesting that when you get done you've learned quite a bit. Prepare to work, she changes do dates often but, recommend class

This class was a lot easier than I anticipated. you write 4 papers, and a term paper. If you get 3 A's on your term papers, you can re submit them at the end of the semester and take the last 2 weeks off. I did. Teacher will help you if you ask her to and show an effort. But don't argue with her. it will get you nowhere!

Ms. Okey is AWESOME! I am just finishing up her lit. class and I am kind of sad it is over. Great literature and great class discussions. I will remember this class for a long time. If you have the oppertunity take this class! :)

4 Papers and a term paper with portfolio! It was alot of work, she is a nice to teacher but Okey talks alot!!way to much, she goes on and on about something completely irrelevant. She can never snswer a straight answer and always explains exstensively. The book was a waste of money dont buy it you honestly do not need it.

AWESOME PROF! 4 papers and a portfolio . attendance is mandatory. The book was only needed for one page so just scan it in the library instead of buying it. Totally recommend her. the class is super easy. she cares so much about her students and wants you to pass.

This prof is absolutely amazing took her twice and wish she could have taught every English class I need. Her class is a lot of fun and she is not to hard on the students. Definitely take her class you won't regret it.

SHE'S GREAT! She's a very easy teacher her quizzes are all simple because she pretty much gives you all the answers on the review sheets. Papers are all straight forward as well. She's just an awesome person she'll put the time in to help you if you really need it. Highly recommend her!

Deb, as she prefers to be called, is an incredible English professor. Her classes are very simple. There are 4 written papers throughout the semester, a term paper, and a portfolio made up of 3 of those 4 papers. She gives you 4 absences, and will allow you to leave class when there are workshops and you would rather work at home. HighlyRecommended

Prof. Okey is a good professor, but her bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. You will get a group email telling you she didn't receive half the classes paper, followed by a smaller group email letting you know she received your paper. She sends very stressful emails to the group, you aren't sure if she is talking to you or not.

I am taking the online class. She is very helpful. She answers emails quickly in great detail, and wants you to ask clarifying questions. If you work hard and communicate with her, you will do fine. She grades very fair. She is all about teaching you the proper ways of doing things for other classes. I am already signed up for her LIT class.

Very fun class. She made it so interesting with the literature we read and projects. Would really recommend her.

Tests almost every week, but extremely easy. If you read the material you will pass the test. In fact, if you read the Spark Notes you will probably pass. Two papers, and one group project. Lectures are a little long, but interesting.

Deb is great! It shows that Deb is passionate about what she teaches; and it comes through in her class. She's very anti-cell phones, so just be respectful of that and you'll be fine. In general, if you show up to class, participate, try and do the readings (use sparknotes if you need to), do the 2 papers - you'll get an A. She really is a cool gal

Deb is very passionate in teaching English, she is very knowledgable and only wants the best for her students. Very caring and understanding. Just be polite and put your cell phone away, or you will get on her bad side. Get ready to read, but over all a fun class.

She is the sweetest online teacher you will ever meet. I never thought I would be so interested in goth literature until I took her class and her grading is so easy! if you don't do the work and stay on task that is the only way you will really fail.

Professor Okey's class so far seems solid. The only thing that I don't like is how she sets up her canvas. I am in her online course and I find that when she makes discussion posts or assignments, she's made them overly complicated than need be. You'll definitely have to do the work as it seems her assignments/quizzes are worth a lot of pts.

I absolutely loved Deb! She was very clear on what was required to be successful in the class, as long as you read what your suppose to and turn in the papers on time, then you will do fine in the class. She was very easy to get ahold of, always offered help if needed, and was very leinient on her grades. I reccomend taking her class.

During COVID 19, Dr. Okey understood students' situations could be difficult and extended due dates. It is obvious that Dr. Okey cares about her students, even though she hasn't met us. There were about 10 quizzes total and two papers, but she gives you options for the paper topics. I feel Dr. Okey goes above and beyond for her students

If you're looking for a course where you will LEARN to improve your writing take the course. Professor Okey, is specific and can be a bit wordy at times, but she lets you know exactly what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. She is ALWAYS there to help you and she wants her students and she wants her students to succeed.

This class was great! There were weekly readings with quizzes on them, but you had enough time to read the material & there were videos too! Had to complete 2 essays, she gave you the works cited page, which made it cake. Lots of videos that helped out and quizzes were only 5 q's and weren't hard. 10/10 recommend! easy + she's nice. :)

She's very interactive with her students. She replies quickly and gives great feedback. Made me a better writer. She gives you all the tools to succeed in the class. Follow the modules and you will do well

This professor was wonderful. When I read other reviews on here, I was skeptical. Professor Okey proved to be one of the most respectful, straight-forward, and caring professors I have ever had! She was VERY clear with what she was asking for in her assignments, something I believe many students mistake for being "rude." Great class, learned a ton!

I took Okey for the Horror Literature course. This class does require a decent amount of reading but nothing too bad. She has lectures covering each short story/book/movie in case anything wasnt clear. There were several small 5 pt quizzes but only one essay (the final). She is very caring and works to help her students.

I took here horror lit class and loved it! She is very nice and while there can be weeks with lots of reading it is offset by movie weeks where you only have to watch a movie. Her quizzes are easy so if you read/watch the material you'll get a 100 no problem. There is only one paper and I didn't think she was a very harsh grader.

I took her horror literature class and even though there is a lot of reading, its a fairly easy class and you feel like you are actually learning. I think she deserves a better rating than a 3.8. Compared to other teachers you can tell she truly cares. Some of the assignments require you watching a movie which is really cool. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed her lectures and I loved her passion for horror literature. We got to read some AMAZING books, and I loved diving into horror and what makes it so good. The bad reviews about her being brutal are true, though -- whenever I need humbling, I just go back and read her comments on my final paper. A scary grader, but I liked her.

I loved Professor Okey's passion for horror literature! The assignments are simple, you just have to read the assigned stories and listen to her lectures (some are long, but I would put them in 1.5x speed ha ha) she gives you everything you need to write your final paper and pass. I would have loved to take this class in person.

Professor Okey is great, the class is very straightforward, weekly readings and discussion posts/short quizzes. Each assignment is a HARD deadline, and missing a few quizzes makes it hard to get an A. Two essays, a midterm and final are outlined well with what is expected. Watching her videos are very helpful and reccomended. Lovely professor! :)))

Professor Okey is a saint. She is very detailed and thorough, but if you take the time to pay attention to the details you will be handsomely rewarded. Professor Okey sends a lot of emails, but she goes out of her way not just to educate you on English, but to fully prepare you for your other classes. Loved her and highly recommend her.

Her class is straight forward! The start of the first day she provides a work schedule on the "home" tab for what you will be working on each week. There are quizzes that you will have to take regarding the readings that you are assigned to read and discussions regarding the readings you read. Two exam papers are needed to take to pass the class.

Best English teacher I've had! After hating English in high school, she was like a breath of fresh air. Super caring and went above and beyond. I took her for Eng 101 and knew I had to take her again! Her emails are very detailed. I always knew exactly what was going on and what her expectations were. Amazing lectures and super helpful! I loved Prof Okey's class. Lectures are youtube videos, very informative. 4 papers to write, 3-5 pages. The final is a portfolio of 3 of the 4 papers. A few easy quizzes. When she says to send your outlines to her to proofread and comment on before submission, DO IT! I did this for all of my papers and only got A's because I was able to fix the problems she pointed out before grading. 4 papers total. Lowest score dropped. A final portfolio is required of 3 of the 4 papers you write. Errors should be corrected b4 sub

Professor Okey was an amazing teacher. She posts a lot of assignments and readings, but majority of them are very short. We were only required to write 4 papers, and each topic was extremely simple. If you email her your assignments and ask for feedback, she is very thorough and gives amazing advice. As long as you do your work, you will do great.

I feel conflicted about this class. This class is not hard content wise but it's really disorganized so it takes a lot of effort to make sure you really understand what you're doing. The teacher is the biggest sweetheart and very helpful. I would advise you read everything she gives you even if it's a lot that's the only way you'll succeed.

I earned the C I got. My grades were good but busy with my kids, I waited last minute to write my essay, got a 50 and final grade became a 71. You MUST follow all directions or your grade will suffer BUT Horror Lit is a blast, books were great reads and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. If you don't read the books, you will fail.

VERY EASY QUIZZES! Several short stories/a few med-long novels. I have a 97% right now with the previous quizzes/discussion boards. Other than the novels, workload pretty light. Good online lectures w./ quizzes. FINAL PAPER WORTH 40% OF YOUR GRADE! I can drop to a 58% if I get a 0 on the paper, even with a 97. Will update w./ final grade

I do not understand all of the students rating her as being a "difficult" class. Literally just have to read a couple short stories, take 5 answer easy quiz questions and write 2 essays. The teacher has lectures she has prepared which is truly appreciated in the online arena. She is a very kind, funny and engaging professor. Take it, read be happy
